All right, Mr. Samala, will you carry on with discussion and information? >> Yeah, information-wise, uh we do have a levy on the ballot in May. The district has a 0.25% income tax renewal levy on the ballot in May. This is not a new tax. The funds from this levy support school operations, including but not limited to

salaries, utilities, instructional materials, transportation, and supplies. Um continuing on, summer projects, uh just want to make you aware of the following projects are scheduled for the summer. In addition to cleaning and waxing that is done every summer at the middle school, they'll be painting the middle school gym walls, replacing the main entrance doors. That door is one that we've had ongoing issues with. And replace boiler line seals and valves. At the high school, we'll be replacing the sidewalks from door seven all the way down to the softball field, fixing and painting the drywall in the gym and the main office lobby, and then replacing the roof on the home press box at the stadium. An area of concern for the near future is the roof of the middle school is in bad shape. We've had

some leaks, so we're going to have to look at is that worth replacing or how long can we get it to uh hold up. So, any questions on summer projects? And then a couple of transfers to note, Tammy Bonamigo uh is moving from bus driver aide to the elementary library aide effective April 6th. And Matt Sager moving from a two-hour bus aide to a four-hour elementary aide effective today. Awesome. All right. Um do we have any information going out about the May levy to Okay. Okay, you're going to send it out like next month or like the Uh it'll be in the next district update. We're going to put some things on social media. Again, it's got to be facts. Just Yeah. What it is, what it is, what it supports. So. Awesome. Thank you.

Mr. Frank. All right. So, start off, on April 6th, 7th, and 8th, we had our kindergarten teachers and support staff put on our kindergarten screening. So, it was neat to meet some of the new incoming kindergartners for next year and their parents. We currently have around 85 students registered to come into kindergarten next year. And our current kindergarten kindergartners moving up to first are at about 84. So, we're very consistent with those numbers. Um the next item, we had our annual fire inspection on the 13th. And I just like to commend the teachers, staff, and Trent Williams for how we care for EES and make it a safe place for our students. Uh the inspection went very well. No violations were found. Some minor fixes that they recommended were um some of our pull alarms

in the bathrooms had a few items in front of them, so they wanted us to declutter those areas. So, if a smaller student would need to get to that pull alarm, they could reach it easier. And then another item was some of our shelving, some of the items are stacked too close to the ceiling. So, just kind of declutter some of the areas. So, those were the two main concerns. But, overall, very good. Um Next item, Mrs. Setmire, our art teacher and our student artists would like to invite you to the district art show, and that's on April 24th. It's a Friday. That's from 4:00 to 7:00 at EHS. Um as you all know, Mrs. Setmire goes above and beyond and is a great asset for our district. So, um our students and her are

excited for that. Our third and fourth graders are wrapping up state testing next week on the 28th and 29th. And they'll finish up with their math state tests. Uh Mr. Torrence, another one of our awesome teachers and his young Viking choir would also like to invite you to the spring choir concert, and that's on May 7th. It's a Thursday at 6:30 at the elementary school. And then lastly, as we've been doing this year, uh staff spotlight features Mrs. Felicia Ford. She's a second grade teacher. And she also has been an active part in our special events when we put on events for the kids in the evenings. Um she's played a big role in those as well. When I asked her what she enjoys about working at EES, she said the caring staff and supportive

community make it a wonderful place to work. So, I just wanted to give Mrs. Ford a shout-out. Any questions? >> I I do have a question. So, that inspection that he's talking about, probably going to be more back to you guys. Is that the same inspection that we were struggling with last year? Yes. Okay, so now it's all taken care of. >> There's a different inspector this year who is >> That's That's all I wanted to know. Perfect. Thank you. [clears throat] She's here to work with. It went very smoothly. So, Trent and I walked around with the inspector and then just to hear from Metamora and boy. Perfect. Thank you. Awesome. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Mr. Burkholder. Good evening. I'll start out with our people's champ that we always have every month

at the middle school. Um two names, and depending how much in your building, they're newer to Evergreen still. Um Mr. Bailey, um Bryce Bailey is one of our fifth grade teachers. He has only spent two years with us now, assuming the fifth grade up. Um he's become a big asset for our building. The kids love him. He's He really connects well with those those fifth grade students. Um and then uh Mrs. Font, you might have heard of her as Miss Coffey here last year, uh our secretary in our building. Um she's the smiling face that you see when you come in our building. She does a great job not just leading our building in that office area, but she's also quiz bowl coach, she's on our amazing shake team, and she's our yearbook coordinator. So,

a little bit of everything from Mrs. Font. Um state testing has been started. Last week we did our ELA state testing. We had two good days of that. And then we'll have science this week, and then uh finish off with math the following week on those Thursday or Wednesdays and Thursdays. Uh shout-out to Mrs. Skyron. She's also newer to our building still, only in her third year, but she's got it down to a science now as far as make sure everybody's covered and needs to be where they need to be for those state tests. So, first two days were were were done well. Uh we celebrate third quarter with our normal celebrations. We have our all A's breakfast and our other awards. The all A's breakfast for third quarter is the hardest one to achieve

because third quarter is the lowest number of kids that have hit the all A's marker. 65 students still were able to achieve it. Um and they get rewarded handsomely for that because we uh get the uh the charm to cater in breakfast for that morning. So, it's like a big hit for them to be be doing third quarter. Uh one of the fun things in our building, obviously, is the amazing shake competition. So, this last month we got it started. Uh we had our first round, which had 52 volunteers from the community come in, and all 83 of our seventh graders competed in the competition. Uh we had a great uh gauntlet competition overall. The main feedback that we got from that from uh community members who have come in repeated as volunteers has been

that this seventh grade class is our most prepared. So, that was good to hear that we're getting those kids more and more prepared as we do this. I do want to give congratulations to the 10 finalists that we had. These 10 kids moved on to our second round. So, Kaylee McGee, Reagan Mans, Jackson Jequillard, Emily Crockett, Haley Hallett, Drew Miller, Kylie Mans, Bren Hudek, Amir Broski, and Bryce Berlonga. So, those 10 all made it. Uh with that being said, there was about 20 other kids that were within just a about five or eight points of them that just missed out on having. It was very competitive this year. Uh the competition continued last uh Friday, where we went to Parker Hannifin for our second round this year. It was the first time they've hosted for

us, and they went above and beyond what we were expecting them to do. Kids had an awesome experience. So, they they present a charity to them. Uh and and the time that one kid is presenting, the other nine are participating in games and trivia uh with two hosts that are also judging them. And then we move on uh to a building tour, and then they actually had a lunch there for us as well. The kids had a blast. The two staff members that were there for the whole time said they did an amazing job. The tour of the facility was first class. The kids got to see some pretty awesome um technology. They got to see business locally that works with government contracts for the military. Like, it was very cool for those kids to

see. They were excited when they came back. So, uh special thank you to Kelly Allison and Nancy Buckenmyer that led that team over at Parker Hannifin. So, I believe five or six of the members are going to come out for our amazing shake final round, which is next Friday. Uh we have our amazing shake late afternoon show for our top three. So, with that being said, our top three were Kaylee uh McGee, Emily Crockett, and Kylie Mans. So, those three all have a chance to be named our champion. Uh also, we had our high school musical take place. Um we had middle schoolers participate in this year, which is pretty neat to see them get to participate in the event. Um from what I was being told, I don't know if they actually keep exact

attendance records, but it was the most I've seen in four years that we've had it. So, that was good, and I heard everything went really, really well there. Upcoming events for us, state testing, late afternoon show, and then we'll have kids have stuff at the art show on the 24th this Friday, along with our concert is actually May 6th, the day before the elementary concert. So, any questions? Thanks, Seth. Thank you, Mr. Burkholder. Mr. Rufer. And good evening. I got a couple kids. Sophia Goodson takes the our government kids take the Americanism test in Mr. Blain's honors class, and she was uh the highest female student in our area, so she got an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. Uh so, congratulations to her, and she also participated in the Ohio history bee, so she got

fourth in that at the state level. Um so, good work to her. And then Wastes Zablocki finished second at state in the oratorical contest, which won him $450. So, he had to give a prepared speech and practice in front of some staff and he's pretty impressive. So, congratulations to those two and just thank Mr. Blanchard who works with the Legion to put those two events on for our kids. Um Lucas had talked about it, the high school musical was last weekend, the 10th and 11th and 12th. So, we did have some staff involved as well as our students. So, it was a good performance. I We also put on your calendars this two Wednesday, our quiz team is playing for the finals in the Bowling Green State University Brain Game. So, that will air They're

filming that on Wednesday and then we'll get a final air date, but they're playing to be the top out of 32 teams. Um and then this past Saturday, we did have prom. It went well. I'm finding that it's harder for me to stay up that late, but it all went well. Um I do want to thank some teachers. So, uh Mrs. Mondragon has been out on maternity leave and we had some staff members that just volunteered to gather everything. They showed up, they helped set up. Uh we had Mrs. Desmond, Mrs. Hennessy, Mrs. Pierce, Mrs. Dicken, uh Mrs. Ricker. Um we also had quite a few junior class parents that showed up cuz had we not had that help, I would have been there myself putting on chair covers and it wouldn't have been good.

So, thank you to all of them that helped organize that. Um last one is on May 1st, we have our final Future Friday. It's going to be a little different this time. Um every kid 9th through 11th is going to go out and do 2 hours of community service. We're doing Metamora Lions and then we have Ronald McDonald House and some local retirement homes that they will be in and then when they're in the school, it's kind of more of relaxed. There is a career session, um but they're also going to do some activities that are just kind of more relaxed. It's the first day after state testing and then we're working on partnering with some mental health agencies to provide some resources for our kids. So, kind of a way to recharge after state

testing and prepare for that final stretch of the school year. So, that's coming up May 1st. Any questions? Thank you. Thanks, Mr. First. Mr. Hendricks. Good evening, everybody. I just wanted to start off with a big thank you to Carter Lumber, our softball community, um and the entire program for their support in getting the material and their willingness to set up uh Piper Field um turf for a softball game. If you guys were able to make that out, that was really cool that. Not only a great experience for the kids, but I think a great community event as well. So, if Mother Nature, like it has been, is not letting us get on the field, I look forward to um utilizing what we have. Um right now in the department, working on a few projects.

I know Mr. Smola mentioned the home press box um that Mr. Williams has been working with contractors and getting that taken care of. Um I'm also working with Tony and Torrence Sound to revamp our audio system out there at Piper Field. So, again, looking at taking down that large speaker on the home side once that roof comes down, um working on getting some new speakers out there to kind of revamp all that. So, that's something that's pretty updated. Um so, just trying to get all of that wrapped up here going into summer. And then lastly, um I believe there was discussion about it, but also looking at um revamping our banners in the gym. So, I'm sure you guys go to other schools and see sports-specific banners instead of each year championship banners. So, again,

just kind of batting around some ideas, but that's kind of the way I'm looking at navigating this is more of a sports-specific banner. Um working with some businesses on getting some quotes and getting that taken care of. Um lastly, just wanted to thank the admin team, maintenance, coaches, especially Dawn, uh for keeping the department running smoothly while I was out on paternity leave. Um you know, Dawn went above and beyond. She She did an excellent job with organization um and just maintaining communication, which is really, really key in the springtime with a lot of cancellations, rescheduled stuff like that. So, I actually got back in today and was expecting a little bit more work to do. There's always crazy amount of work to do, but she did a flawless job. So, I just really want

to commend her on that. So, that's it. Any questions? Congratulations. Congratulations. Thank you. Thank you, Dawn. Please. Uh Mr. Smola. Yeah, I would like to thank our students and parents for taking the time to complete the high school programming survey. Their feedback is valuable for us to shape the future of the district. Uh last week, the administrative team met, reviewed the survey results, and identified potential pathways moving forward. Looking at a year out for 2027-28, we're exploring the development of a business and hospitality and health and science pathway to offer our students. As for part of our long-range planning, we're looking at uh construction trades, fine arts, and pre-pre-apprenticeship pathways. So, our next step is to research coursework, begin building potential schedules to better understand what each pathway could look like. So, some other opportunities

for our kids that would impact kids going to college and kids who are looking to go into the workforce. So, that's what we're working on. And then we have four students that who are accepted into the fifth year program. They're Haley Harman, Xavier Robinette, Thomas Baker, and Nolan Harman. The fifth year program is a 10-month experience to help students who are not sure about their plans after graduation. Uh the experience offers paid internships, professional soft skills, career shadowing, and skills to navigate life after high school. So, just This is the first year we're a part of it and four students were selected. So, congratulations to them. Excellent. Any questions? I don't think so. Thank you, Mr. Smola. Thank you. Any board members with questions or concerns? Nope. All right. I just need a motion to

adjourn the April 20th, 2026 regular meeting of the Evergreen Local Board of Education. So moved. Second. Roll call. I. Yes. Yes. Yes. >> I. Yes. Yes. Motion carried.
