Over the last 18 years, the Maltz Museum has grown really an incredible program that empowers students across Northeast Ohio to share their voices, perspectives, and beliefs. This year alone, more than 3,600 students from across over 150 schools submitted original work which consisted of songwriting, essays, poetry, uh really an inspiring testament to the power
004of what is our student voice. So, we're super proud of these young individuals. Um, first tonight we are especially proud to celebrate Miss Kelly Coler, who we'll get to in a moment, but her eighth grade honors ELA class. They wrote, recorded, and won the middle school songwriting contest with their original piece, We Will Rise. You had the lyrics to that and Friday Memo. Uh it really was an inspiring piece that actually opened up this entire show uh for the entire audience at the um at the honor ceremony. So the listed are all of the students who were with us. I know they're not all with us tonight, but you do have the name of those students who were able uh to participate. So in addition to this achievement, their work earned a $3,000 grant for
005the academic center. Last week, these students performed their song at the ceremony uh again where they really inspired all of those who were in attendance. So, we congratulate those students. Okay. >> Uh, so in addition to this pretty incredible song, we had two students who were finalists and ultimately runners up in the middle school essay contest. So, sixth grade student Caleb Layman, who's not with us tonight, and eighth grade student Reagan Iikinoff, both students again were runners up in their respective grade levels, and each earned a $100 award for this outstanding achievement. So, again, a little bit more um their full essays were available for your use and will be published on our website as well. So, congratulations, Rayan. That was excellent. Okay.
007And for and and last but not least, we are really excited to honor, although not with us tonight, uh recognize Miss Kelly Coler, who was named Stop the Hate Teacher of the Year in honor of her continued dedication to fostering kindness, inclusion, and empowering our students to stand up for what they believe in. While again she's unable to be here, her impact is clearly reflected in the achievements of all of her students over the years who have participated in this pretty incredible protest. So please join me in congratulating all of these talented students and Mrs. Kohler. We are incredibly proud of all of them and we look forward to seeing all that you will continue to accomplish in your futures. So congratulations and thank you. No, I just wanted them to have a seat. You're
008good. You can have Mrs. Penzone, though. >> Got you. >> Okay. Next, I just want to introduce Mrs. Penzon, who will begin our recognition of students of the month with our youngest students at UCLA. Heaven. >> Good evening. >> It's wonderful to be here and I have two amazing ECLC students tonight. Uh first we have our preschool student of the month. This is Audrey Wilson and she is in Miss Baron's class and she also works with Miss Cheryl who are both here tonight and Miss Mandy. Um, and their teacher said some really wonderful things about Audrey. Um, you are so wonderful in preschool and you are fearless. Your teacher said she said, "You are so determined to do all of your work and you never give up. You always keep trying and trying and you
009participate in the classroom activities and you're talking with your friends at school and you're always up for new challenges. Um, she makes such a good effort to step outside of her comfort zone and try new things every single day. You're a very powerful example to others. So, let's congratulate Audrey. And next we have Elijah. He's our kindergarten student of the month and he is in Mrs. Connor's class. And she said some wonderful things about you too, Elijah. She said that you have wonderful courage and that you work so hard with every challenge that you take on. Uh you go above beyond the grade level expectations and he likes to do reading and math. She said that you show a lot of courage trying really hard math problems. Um, and you try new things and even
010when you make mistakes, you keep trying and you never give up. Uh, you're not only just confident in your abilities, but you're very brave and you stretch yourself as a learner. You're a wonderful example for all of the peers and you show true courage. So, let's give a round of applause for Elijah. He has been working very hard in class and really trying to do his best. I am so proud of the progress he has made. As Cody Rhodess would say, who I think is this a WWE wrestler? Okay, you gota what does he say? >> You got to do the work. Yeah. Keep working hard, Robbie. We are very proud of you. Great job, Robbie. Sorry. And that's I'd

And I think that you can see just from the students here today how amazing they work together, how our gifted program is such a wonderful program for our building.
