the class of 2026, we would like to welcome our family and friends as we celebrate the 70th commencement exercise for Kpring High School. Seated with us on stage is our representative from the school board, Miss Shelley Clemens, and our superintendent, Dr. Ken Nicely. And welcome to you, the graduating class of 2026. [cheering] >> [applause] >> At Kring High School, we hold high expectations for ex academic excellence while also recognizing that high school is far more than grades and accomplishments. It's about the relationships you've built, the experiences you have embraced, and most mostly the individuals you have become throughout this journey. It's about being part of a community where every student has a place and every student matters. Over the past four years, you've immersed yourselves in the life of our school community. You have joined
clubs, teams, organizations, and activities that challenged you to grow as students, as leaders, and as individuals. Whether you found your place in DECA, robotics, the environmental club, the debate team, key club, marching band, choir, athletics, or the countless other options, these experiences have helped shaped your character and create the memories that will remain with you long after today. As you prepare to move forward into the next chapter of your lives, carry with you the skills and values that you have developed here at Kring High School. You are opportunity ready. You have strengthened the ability to communicate effectively through speech, writing, creativity, and technology. You have developed the critical thinking skills necessary to analyze, innovate, and solve problems. You have also learned the importance of collaboration and the understanding that we achieve more when we support
and work alongside one another. Above all, I encourage you to live like a knight. Live with integrity in both your words and your actions. Lead with honor. Take pride in who you are and in the example that you set for others. Most importantly, continue to look out for one another with compassion, empathy, and respect. The character you demonstrate and the way you treat others will leave far greater impact than any title or accomplishment. Class of 2026, you're prepared for the opportunities and the challenges that lie ahead. You process the knowledge. You possess the knowledge, skills, and resilience necessary to succeed. But more importantly, you carry with you the values of a true knight. As you move forward, continue to make a positive difference in the lives of others and the communities that you serve. Congratulations,
class of 2026. We are proud of all that you have accomplished and excited to see what you will achieve in the future. [applause] Graduates, you didn't do this alone. At this time, please help me thank the families and the faculty and staff of Kring High School for their support. We appreciate the support you have provided to our students and to this school. [cheering] >> [applause] >> Take this hat off. >> Hello. >> Ah, okay. So, I do have quite the lengthy speech, but I hope you all get this message. So, what I'm coming here to talk about today is something that all of us humans do best, and it's complain. No, I'm just kidding. Okay, I'm sorry. Let me get started. So, class of 2026, families, teachers, staff, administrators, and everyone who has taken the
time to be here today, good evening. Silent crowd. Hello. Ah, let me try that again. Class of 2026. Good evening. >> Ah, there we go. I hope you're all doing well. The speech that I'm getting ready to share today is not just for the class of 2026. It's for everyone here celebrating this moment with us. I want to start off by saying how grateful I am to be standing here today. It is an honor to speak in front of this class. A class that has worked, grown, struggled, laughed, recovered, and kept moving forward together. Today is one of those moments we'll look back on years from now. One of those moments where life tells us, "You made it this far. Now, keep going." And before I say anything else, I want to make one thing
clear. The success from the class of 2026 is not a fluke. This class is not lucky by accident. This class is not successful because things were handed to us. This class is the result of work, pressure, sacrifice, community, and people who refused to stop when life became difficult. And on top of all of that, we genuinely locked in, survived senioritis, and made it through the finals. So, congrats to you guys. And over [laughter] over these past few years, I've seen many different kinds of people walk through these halls. I've seen people who made success look easy, and people who had to fight for everything they had. I've seen people stay up late chasing grades, balance school, sports, jobs, family responsibilities, stress, and expectations that nobody else could see. I've seen people get into schools they
once dreamed about. And I've seen people get into incredible places yet still not be able to go. And some have their plans changed completely yet still find the strength to keep moving. A friend once told me that missing out on a college felt like being a bird with wings but unable to fly. And I know how I would respond now. Having wings means you are still built to fly. But it's not about losing the ability. It is about giving yourself the chance to take off in a new way because the wind is not only blowing in one direction and if one path did not lift you then another will and that is something I hope all of us remember. Where you go after graduation matters but it does not define your worth. Whether you're going
to college, work, the military, a trade, a gap year, or a path you're still figuring out, you still have something to fight for. You still have something to build and you still have something in front of you that matters. So when opportunity is standing in front of you, take it. Take it while it is present. Take it while you have the chance. Do not let fear convince you to stay still. Do not let doubt talk you out of something that could change your life. Because one day we're all going to look back. And when that day comes, I hope we're not saying, "I wish I tried. I wish I cared more. I wish I took the chance. I wish I became who I knew I could be. And if there's one thing we should refuse
to carry past 2026, it is regret. What happened before today is done. The mistakes we made, the chances we missed, the words we we wished we said differently. The moments we wish we appreciated more. They are a part of us, but they do not have to control us. We cannot rewrite every moment, but we can decide what we do with the next one. That is growth. Growth is realizing you were wrong and becoming better because of it. Growth is learning from the person you used to be without being trapped by that version of yourself. Growth is understanding that just because people remember who you were does not mean they get to decide who you become. And if there's anything this class has shown, class of 2026, it is growth. Some of us learn to stand
up for ourselves. Some of us stay disciplined. Some of us learn to lead and others learn to listen. But all of us changed. And through that change, we built bonds that made these years mean something. Some friendships started on the first day. Some came out of nowhere. Some lasted. Some faded. And some taught us lessons that we did not know we needed. But every person in this room was a part of the story. The classmates, you guys, teachers, teammates, staff, and the families who helped carry us to this moment. That is what makes Cave Spring different. People can talk about bigger places with more resources, bigger areas, bigger names, bigger programs. They can talk about places people assume are automatically better. But let it be known, Cave Spring does not wait to be noticed. We're
not defined by what we were handed. We're defined by what we did with what we had. And look at what this class has done. We have students heading to Ivy League schools, top universities, technical programs, the workforce, the military, and paths that may not fit one perfect mold, but are still meaningful, powerful, and worthy of respect. This class has proved that greatness can come from Renault County. So, not because we had every advantage, not because everything was easy, but because we had community, connections, bonds, and people who pushed each other and people who cared enough to show up, we succeeded. And that is something that no ranking can measure. Cave Spring is not just a school. It is a community. It is a place where people learn together, grow together, and learn from the wins
and the losses of those who came before them. And now as a class of 2026, we are a part of that legacy. But being a part of a legacy is not just about what we accomplish for ourselves. It's about what we leave behind for those coming after us. My mom has always told my sister something that stuck with me. What is the point in having a brilliant daughter if her son is left behind? If her brother is left behind. And I can tell you that means knowledge and success were stationary and temporary. And I think that message applies to us today. If one of us can be great, then the next person can be great too. And if we do our job right, the next person can be even better. Greatness should not stop with
one class, one student, one athlete, one leader, one sibling, or one success story. It should create a path for someone else to walk further than we did. And that is our responsibility as students, young adults, teachers, families, parents, and members of this community. Our place, our job is to make this place a safe haven for the next generation. A place where younger students feel seen, supported, and capable. A place where they're not afraid to try, not afraid to fail, and not afraid to grow. And I believe this class has already started doing that. We are building the connections they will need. We are setting the examples they can follow. We are proving that Caves students can walk into any room, any scenario, any any college, any career, any challenge and belong there. We learn from
our predecessors. We learn from their successes and we learn from their mistakes. And now it is our responsibility to become an example for those who come next. So to the juniors, sophomores, and freshmen in this building, and everyone who will walk these halls after us, we pass the torch to you. So take pride in where you come from. Take care of each other. Build something better than what you were given. And when your time comes, make sure you can look at your class and say, "They raised the standard." Because that's what this is about. It's not just about graduating. It's about leaving something behind that matters. And as we step into this next chapter, I hope you remember one more thing. Do not wait for the world to give you goodness before you give goodness
back. Do not wait for someone to support you before you support them. Do not wait for someone to be kind to you before you are kind. Do not wait for someone to make you feel seen before you make someone else feel seen. Because the way we treat people matters and the way we make the way we make people feel matters. And sometimes the strongest thing we can do is give light to others, even when we're still searching for our own. And now that I've said all of that, I want to give my thanks to the community that has not only built me, but has built the people around me, this wonderful class. Thank you to our families who stood behind us even when we are stressed, tired, frustrated, or difficult. Thank you for the sacrifices,
the reminders, the support and the love that got us here. Thank you to our teachers who did more than teach lessons. You corrected us when we needed it, pushed us when we got comfortable comfortable and believed in us when we did not always believe in ourselves. And thank you for not only teaching us, but adapting to us cuz like kudos to the teachers. They they dealt with brain rot. Like you guys are the survivors of the class of 2020. Can we get a round of applause for the teachers actually? Thank you. Thank you. All right. All right. I'm not done. I'm not done speaking yet. Hold on. You got to say something for me. All right. Thank you to the staff, counselors, janitors, trainers, coaches, and administrators who kept this school moving and gave us
the structure, guidance, and support we needed to make it to this day. And thank you to the class of 2026. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the laughter. Thank you for the competition, the friendship, the lessons, and the example you have set. Thank you for proving that Caves is not just capable of greatness, but already becoming it. So, as we leave today, go forward with courage. Go forward with gratitude. Go forward with kindness. And go forward with pride and where you came from. And above all, class of 2026, go forward without regret. Because graduation is not just proof that we finished high school. It is proof that we changed. We learned. We fought. We grew through this milestone and we kept going. And now we're ready to begin again cuz that's what we
do. So although I would love to say never fear, your night is here one last time. I think the class of 2026 has earned its own version because we left our mark for everyone to see. Because now it's not just about one night. Our class earned this honor. So, in the light or in the dark, in the street or in the park, never fear. The class of 2026 was here. Thank you, class of 2026. Congratulations. [cheering] [applause] Flip this. >> Oh, yep. Oops. The hardest part will won't be getting that diploma. It'll be uh walking across that stage and uh leaving for parking. So, good luck, guys. >> [applause] [cheering] >> I will say that's pretty hard to follow right there. Nice job, Assan. Good afternoon, parents, guardians, and families. I am Chuck Parker, assistant
principal at Cavespring High School, and it is my pleasure to announce this year's faculty scholarships. Awarding faculty scholarships to selected students at graduation is a long-standing tradition at Cavespring High School. The recipients are determined by a vote of the faculty. Students, when I call your name, please come forward to receive your scholarships. Congratulations this year go to Mr. Jackson Jennings [applause] and Miss Jean Peard. >> [cheering] [applause] >> At this time, I would like to welcome to the podium Michaela Scott for our student address. [cheering] [applause] Okay, as Mr. Parker said that's going to be hard to follow, Hassan, but uh hope I beat you a little bit. Okay, good evening everyone, family, friends, and most importantly, my fellow graduates. Standing here today, I'm proud to say that I'm part of a community I once
wasn't sure would ever feel like home. I entered the school my senior year. Walking into a place where everyone already had their routines, their friendships, and their memories. It would have been easy for me to stay quiet, to just pass through, to graduate and leave without ever really being seen. And truthfully, even now, some of you here today might not fully know how who I am. But that's okay. Because even in that, I found my place. Somewhere along the way, I realized something important. Where you start doesn't define where you finish. It's about the effort you put in, the people you decide to grow with, and the mindset that you carry. This year, I found something I didn't expect. I found people who welcomed me in, teachers who pushed me to be better, and moments
that let me remember it's never too late to belong. In a short time, this place became more than just a school. It became part of my story. Coming in late taught me something powerful. Growth isn't about how long you've been somewhere. It's about how you show up while you're there. Every day, we all had a choice. to give up when things got hard or to keep showing up. In this class, we showed up. We've all faced challenges, some visible, some invisible. Early mornings, late nights, pressure, doubt, moments where giving up felt easier than continuing. But we didn't. We kept going. Even when the path wasn't clear, we showed up and we adapted. That's what makes this moment so meaningful. It's proof that we were built to be knights. Today, we don't just receive our diplomas,
we receive our armor. As we step into the next chapter, college, careers, and new opportunities, we won't have everything figured out. And that's okay. Because what truly matters is that we carry forward what we've learned. To walk in new spaces with confidence, to embrace change instead of fearing it, and to trust ourselves even when things feel uncertain. So, as we go forward, let's remember what got us here. The determination, the growth, the strength we didn't even know we had. Because at the end of it all, I didn't just learn how to fit in. I learned how to live like a knight. And being a night isn't about a title, recognition, or how long you've been somewhere. A night shows up every day, whether someone notices or not. A night keeps going when things get uncomfortable.
A knight earns their place through discipline, resilience, and action. We all had to be knights. So, yeah, people might say it's cliche to call ourselves the best class, but it was never about saying it. It's about how we move when we leave here. We were taught to be safe, is to avoid danger. But to live like a knight is to realize that safety comes from within, from the strength of our character. We were given tailored armor. This armor doesn't make us invincible, but it makes us prepared. If we lead with respect, if we take responsibility, and if we stay resilient when life tests us, then we won't just say we were the best class. We'll prove it. We'll prove it in how we carry values we built here. What it means to live like a
night. And the truth is, the rest of our lives won't come with instructions. There's no core curriculum anymore. From here on out, everything is an elective. So, choose boldly, move with purpose, and no matter where life takes you, never leave your armor behind. Thank you. And congratulations, class of 2026.
