I'll introduce our board with Mr. Brent Parker, Vice President Mr. Mike Gebhardt to my right, and uh Ms. Annie Carstarphen and Mr. Len Houser, board members. And then we have our Superintendent Ann Slusher and our Treasurer Colleen Apple. And who are you? And I am Elaine Seguin. Okay, no presentations. No. No visitors? Nope. Mrs. Seguin? I. Motion carries. Okay, any other? I have no other and I have a small report. On February 4th, the next board meeting is going to be at the Performing Arts Center and then we will be doing a presentation there, but I'll also be intertwining my five-year forecast since it's due in February now. So, we're going to do a little combo. So, that was it. If you want me to break it out, I can. We could do on the second meeting in February, we could break it out in separate, but I thought since we're going over the financial plan that we

would just do it all at once. Yeah, that makes sense. It works well on the reasons why for everything. Okay. All right, okay, Superintendent action items. Okay. Uh-oh, I turned too quickly. Sorry. I'm coming. Um to approve the overnight field trip for the middle school robotics team to state and also then the high school team. So, we had teams that qualified for the state championships in both. And that concludes my action items. All right, do we have a motion to approve? So moved. Second. Any questions? If none, please call the roll. Mr. Houser? I. Ms. Carstarphen? I. Mr. Gebhardt? I. Mr. Parker? I. Mrs. Seguin? I. Motion carries. All right, personnel action items. Thank you. Uh do we have a motion to approve? So moved. Do we have a second? Second. Please call the roll. Mr. Gebhardt? I. Ms. Carstarphen? I. Mr. Houser? I. Mr. Parker? I. Mrs. Seguin? I. Well, we we are moving along. All right, Superintendent report. Uh yes, thank you. I first of all want to congratulate the Eastern Heights Middle School Drama Club. They put on a play this past weekend on Friday and Saturday and did a great job. Also wanted to mention the Martin Luther King celebration on Monday. I thought it was spectacular, uh very meaningful, um and love the partnership between the schools and the city on putting that

on. 40 years. I was surprised at how long they've been doing that, but um two of our I want to acknowledge two of our wonderful um first of all, Troy Hill staff member um received the education award and Dakarian Wimbley um received the youth award and gave a a really nice little speech. So, um he says he's going to be president someday and I I'm not challenging that. I I wouldn't doubt it. So, it was a wonderful wonderful opportunity and we had a great keynote um with one of our own Mhm. Um Thomas Bowen. Thank you. I want to call him Eric or I know so many Bowens, but he did a great job from Washington, D.C. he came in. So, it was wonderful. Also wanted to say thank you to the Board of of

Education members. Um It is that month every January and we wanted to thank you for all you do for the staff and the students in the community in Elyria. Um we love working with you and and can't thank you enough for for the um giving of your time. Um and then um just wanted to bring up calamity days because um seems like we're in some polar vortex snow machine time right now and every day we we go through this, but I I get asked over and over, well, what's your threshold? It really there really isn't a magic number as much as there is a bunch of things put together. So, for instance, the one snow day it really although it ended up being a lot of snow, I think 11.9 inches, but at the time

it early on it was falling, it was all about timing. We couldn't keep up with it. And we just didn't feel it was safe. Um as far as wind chill um we have a lot of walkers in our district and um you know, I even pass them at the bus stops. They don't wear their coats, they don't wear their hats and mittens. They all have them, they just they you know, kids will be kids, right? But it's not safe and it's not safe um sometimes the diesel buses don't run as well in the extreme cold. So, we're always going to err on the side of caution and make sure it's safe for everyone to get here. So, that's kind of there is no magic number, magic number of inches, or magic number of wind chill.

It's just a lot of things put together and we try to do the best um and anyone Yeah, uh Mr. Kokai and I talk very early in the morning and uh we make those decisions as a group. So, and then also reminder February 4th, we will be presenting the reduction plan for the board to approve or not approve or give other recommendations. So, that will happen on the 4th at the Performing Arts Center. And that's it. All right, thank you. Um Board of Education board policy um we're requesting to waive the first reading and adopt the following revised policy. It's administering medicines to students. Do we have a motion to So moved. Do we have a second? >> Second. Is there anything that we should I know I read it, so. Okay. Please call the

roll. Mr. Parker? I. Mr. Gebhardt? I. Ms. Carstarphen? I. Mr. Houser? I. Mrs. Seguin? Uh I. All right, we're already uh to executive session, which I believe we do have one today, correct? >> Yes. Okay, do we have a motion to request an executive session for the purpose of considering the employment, dismissal, discipline, demotion, or compensation of a public employee or official as authorized and preparing for conducting or reviewing negotiations with public employees concerning their compensation or other terms and conditions of their employment. Do we have a motion to go in executive session? So moved. Do we have a second? Second. Okay, Madam Treasurer, please call the roll. Ms. Carstarphen? I. Mr. Gebhardt? I. Mr. Parker? I. Oh, sorry. Uh I'm in there. Mrs. Mr. Houser? I. Sorry. Mrs. Seguin? I. Okay, we're off to

executive session. No action to follow. No action. No action to follow. >> action.
