a regular meeting of the forest hills board of education october 25th 2021 roll call ms cropper mrs bissinger here ms joyce here dr rasmussen here dr heiss here mrs myers unable to be with us tonight please rise and join me for the pledge of allegiance i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all and thank everyone for coming we do have uh emergency exits the door that you came in there's also one behind me can i get a motion to adopt the agenda so moved second ms cropper ms joyce yes mrs bissinger yes dr rasmussen yes dr heiss yes uh we'll do a consent agenda on the minutes can i get approval of

the minutes i'll make a motion to approve the minutes of finance committee meeting september 3rd 2021 uh approval of the minutes of technology and facilities committee meeting september 13 21 approval minutes of regular meeting september 27 2021 and approval minutes of teaching and learning committee meeting september 30th 21. second second ms cropper ms choice yes mrs bissinger yes dr rasmussen yes dr heiss yes next up item 4.1 correspondence well we did receive correspondence today as a matter of fact from the high department of health so it says that quarantining students at home who have been exposed to covid19 in a school environment has the unintended consequence of reducing in-school learning and can be an added strain on parents schools and local health departments while vaccination and mass usage are critical components to ensuring a safe

school environment we offer an in-school alternative to quarantining students and school staff at home who have been exposed to covid19 in a school environment to support in-school learning and reduce the strain this recommendation is informed by a growing body of national experience a pilot in warren county an experience shared by other local health departments that points toward a low number of individuals with direct contact to covid19 positive individuals within a school setting who convert to positive cases based on this information and the success of the warren county pilot we recommend the following for k-12 students and staff exposed to coven 19 in a school setting and so we received two pages of documentation regarding the new plan provided by the ohio department of health it is the mask mask to stay test to play option

so as i know many people in our school district are interested in this particular subject matter so i felt that since we had the correspondence i would take this opportunity to provide a brief update based on what we're hearing from the correspondents so on the screen you see the ohio department of health this was released to us at 11 a.m today and so we haven't had a tremendous amount of time to go through the logistics in our school district but since it is important information we wanted to bring it to you tonight eligibility to participate in mask to stay and test to play is contingent on the exposure being in the school setting and that in the school setting is really important because it does not mean in the home environment or away from school

so the school setting would include activities that are happening on property owned by the school district where we are promoting activities that are taking place there whether it be co-curricular extracurricular athletics marching band pta anything like that if it's on our school property then this would apply this does not apply to household exposures or exposures outside of the school setting or school related activities so the mask to stay the next slide this is pretty much what it is suggesting take place and our friends in warren county that would be mason kings and some others in that particular part of the state actually received authorization from the governor of the state of ohio to put in place a pilot program and this is pretty much the pilot program and so based on what they've learned they

would like to promote this across the entire state of ohio so the school setting school setting exposures that would be close contacts what we're typically dealing with individuals are not required to quarantine as long as the following steps are taken now before i read these members to the board i'd like to remind you that the district at this particular point in time for seven through 12 if a student is vaccinated requires no mask if they come in contact with someone who has a confirmed case of covid and that's important because this this policy is or this suggestion or guideline is more restrictive than what we are currently operational with in our 7 through 12 schools it says wear a mask at all times while on school campus up to 14 days we do not do

that right now if a student is vaccinated or if an adult is vaccinated self-monitor parent monitor for covid19 symptoms during that time period isolate and get tested if they start to experience symptoms associated with covid19 so you're in school all through those 14 days with a mask if you begin to have symptoms then you would need to isolate yourself as would as we would have done in all situations [Music] and that is regardless of the level of severity and then students and staff may discontinue this quarantine process after seven days if they take a test then it comes back confirmed that they do not have covid between days five and seven which means they would be able to come back on day eight which is exactly what we do at this particular point in time

in our school district so the one change is more restrictive meaning that vaccinated or not at least right now students would need to wear a mask for 14 days in the school setting so that is inside the school in the classroom the next one is test to play so school setting again exposures um close contacts athletes and coaches and this would be this would include sponsors and other individuals who work with students after school are not required i shouldn't say only after school but in extracurricular activities related to school athletes and coaches are not required to quarantine as long as the following steps are taken they need to wear a mask at all times in the school and during athletic activities so here again regardless of vaccination if you are a football player or a

soccer player or a tennis player volleyball and you come in contact with someone after the school day outside of school then even in school you would be required to wear a mask regardless of vaccination or not that is new for this school system mass will be worn at all other times with the team that means if you're not in the game and you're waiting to go in the game you're going to have a mask on but once the helmet goes in or once you shift from the sideline to the court then you can take your mask off especially if it becomes a hindrance for your health or participation in that activity and you need to wear their mask on in locker rooms team meetings etc you can test immediately upon notification of exposure and you

must receive a negative test before returning to an activity so if you come in contact you can test immediately to eliminate the possibility of having to be isolated but you're going to need to do that with a test that is uh approved and there are some specifics to that that probably john will update us on here in a few minutes then you need to test again on days five through seven and if those are negative tests at that time you can test out or eliminate yourself from quarantine so that is the test to play so the significant terms here are mask to stay and if you're taking a test you can play or participate in extracurricular activity again i do want to remind folks that we do not have any restrictions at this particular point

in time 7 through 12 for students who are not vaccinated the next one what testing is approved and the tests referenced are stars covid ii viral pcr or antigen tests and these tests should be proctored and observed and cannot be an over-the-counter at-home test that was self-administered without a proctor and there are specific guidelines with video and and surveillance of the individual taking the test sitting for 15 minutes and assuring who that on the video they're they are staying there for 15 minutes as the test protocol occurs and you get the results in about 15 minutes so non-school exposure this is the current forest hills school protocol school district protocol we do have the 10-day quarantine in place without vaccination and you can return to school after a negative test on days five if you

take that test on day five or seven and we've been doing that now for a few months if vaccinated and uh asymptomatic you can return to school and you can self-monitor parent monitor for covid19 symptoms and if you would uh incur those then obviously you would isolate and you would either take a test or you would quarantine for a period of time from the first point of recognizing symptoms so this is what we currently have in place what i have up here now is sort of a month-to-month comparison there's a lot of data out there a lot of information last month 9 24 21 we had 282 students covid related 282 student covid related absences that was the peak time we were seeing that across the nation certainly in hamilton county in the state of

ohio and over the past couple of weeks we've started to see that decline on an average you see a spike of 5100 or 49 but we're starting to get into that 3 number in the state of ohio and that's starting to be reflected in our schools as well you see we were here we are one month later today we have 54 students with covid19 related absences so we've seen a significant drop in what's happening at least in our school system and to date um we still are unaware of any internal transfer of covid 19 during the school day we haven't seen that yet we're comfortable with our protocols in our cafeterias in our hallways and the mitigation standards that we have in place and so we're not seeing significant transfer from one student to another

or from a student to an adult or adult to student within the school day instructional day so that makes us feel good about the things that we're doing that way so there are some unanswered questions here and that's part of the discussion tonight you know the lunchroom protocol that we talk about if a student if if the district is going to follow the new guidelines then that does change things that we might be doing in our cafeterias with high school students because if you're wearing a mask that obviously means that you have to be six feet away from any other individual and so the protocol in the lunchroom would change because we don't have that in place right now because of the protocols we are currently following vaccinations we're not quite sure there is no

mention on any of the documentation that was presented to us or the hamilton county department of health from the ohio department of health that talks about vaccinations so we need to dig into that a little bit more and see if that is something that we should be considerate of within our school district the tsa uh still has us in a january time frame for mass must be worn in across the united states for school transportation and other public transportation and i think that's on until like january 2nd at this particular point in time and so that might get adjusted but right now this does not speak at all to anything related to transportation the start date because there are some unanswered questions i think a lot of people would expect that school districts would put

this into place the very next day meaning october 26 tomorrow but i'm not certain that i am in a place at this particular point in time to change what is currently in place regarding the vaccinations and the protocols that we have in place i think we need to answer a few more questions before we do that and that would mean that we need to get the ohio department of health the hamilton county public health and the forest hills school district aligned with this new opportunity that exists in the state of ohio again the whole idea of the protocol and the updates from the ohio department of health is to try to keep kids in school because of the negative nature of of not being in school and not being associated with the typical everyday opportunity

for learning so we are going to get together each tuesday we have a district leadership team meeting with our cabinet central office folks we're going to go through these john has a few calls in right now to get information that will hopefully come back to us tomorrow we may be contacting as as far as the governor's office to see about the vaccinations and the requirements of this relative to what we have we're not seeing uh the transmission in our school so to become more restrictive i'm not sure where the board is on that and i'm not certain where i am on that right now so we intend to have an updated communication out yet this week to give people an idea of where we are so typically that would be a board report but since

it came to us in correspondence today and i know that there's some other important things to do tonight i thought i would get to that right off the bat if you have questions or concerns john's happy to answer anything that's exciting news and well it's going to be interesting to see how things things play out so it's good that things are coming down we're keeping track on all this as as i said in the past we send all of our data to the state and they've done a good job of of taking that data and trying to figure out what's best trying to keep the kids in school minimize making them as safe as possible but also keeping them in school and that's i think what we're doing here just through some questions that need

to be answered so thank you my pleasure okay item 4.2 procedures for public commentary this meeting is a meeting of the board of education in public for the purpose of conducting school board's business is not to be considered a public community meeting we've been through all of this before i'll just go through we have uh uh white sheets that if you'd like to um uh uh just have commentary to the board we welcome it uh it's a 30-minute process right now we have 19 so it'll be a minute 34 to keep it in that uh in that 30 minute time frame as i've mentioned in the past couple meetings there are very few restrictions on what you want to say so two things you can't do you can't be overtly hostile or threatening you can't

be obscene pretty much everything else goes now obviously we encourage civility and decorum but we will not regulate it at this point uh i am going to ask for your indulgence and that my daughter is the as a senior and a captain of the turpin soccer team who beat two higher seeds and is now playing the number one team in the state who hasn't lost in two years um which is which is awesome it's also my last soccer player having done this now for about 19 years so i have reviewed the uh the remaining agenda items and support them i will not vote on them for you soccer parents out there i know it seems like the soccer season goes on forever and it does but there comes a time that there is a last

game and for me that's tonight so i asked for your indulgence but i'm going to politely excuse myself and get myself to lakota east and uh and i will catch up with all you later [Applause] so yeah so julie will be taking over for me she'll do a great job thank you it's like riding a bike so next item on the agenda is agenda item five commendations and recognition 5.1 pbis 2020 2021 district recognition good evening forest hills school district has reckoned has been recognized by the ohio leadership advisory council and ohio pbs network for its success in its buildings with positive behavior interventions and supports pbis is the acronym for that pbis is a preventative and systematic approach that emphasizes the high quality implementation of evidence-based practices use of data for decision making and

yes ms joyce yes dr rasmussen yes so a good third of the audience came up here for that thank you all for coming and being and being recognized one out i don't know what the current number of school districts in the state of ohio are four six eleven six eleven so out of 611 we're one out of 17. that's really amazing and it's a collective effort it's all of you so thank you so much and congratulations [Applause] okay and the good news continues next 5.2 hamilton county public health clean kitchen award recognition good evening um even though i've had so much fun being the cove czar i'm also excited about being able to honor a group of ladies and gentlemen that don't always get the recognition our kitchens have received from hamilton county public health

the clean kitchen award and all nine schools have been awarded this under leadership at tia strauss and i'd like to turn this over to tucker stone with hamilton county public health to sort of explain the award better than i could and they award the certificates sure thank you john thanks for having me here my name is tiger stone and i'm in the health department for 18 years i've known tia for all those 18 years at one point i was the inspector for forest hills or in anderson township little bit about this award we've got just over 3000 facilities in the county we give about 100 of these out a year for every single school within the district to get it is quite amazing this means that the facilities have gotten less than three violations in

the past few years no confirmed complaints no critical violations um it's it's really is quite amazing um not only that but it's it's worth mentioning that um anderson high school has gotten it seven years in a row turban high school is nine years in a row nagel middle school eight years in a row elementary nine years in a row maddox elementary nine years in a row mercer eight sherwood summit and wilson well wilson's only up for two years but because they're a new school it's amazing um the the feat that is that they're doing within forest hills schools district is um it's amazing so um i have a couple people who are here today who um can be recognized but first let me have the people who aren't here theresa jason brock from wilson elementary

congratulations maddox elementary is vicki turner turpin high school lisa hines mercer elementary gail prus sherwood elementary joanna air elementary kelly sunday and then we do have paula highfield from anderson high school congratulations we have nancy miles from summit elementary thank you and we have cheryl pfeiffer from nagel middle school thank you again for making my job easy uh it is it's easy to congratulate these people it's easy to inspect them thank you tia for all the hard work you put in and congratulations i think it's appropriate that tia go up to [Applause] um i'd like to make a motion to compen commend our nine head cooks and food service supervisor for their award of distinction and that a certificate of commendation be presented to them dr rasmussen yes miss joyce yes mrs bissinger yes thank

you and thank you for coming and mr stone thank you for coming too um do you want to share what you're talking about with us [Laughter] i was i was going to say that in addition to everything that's happening inside with our facilities there's a tremendous amount of coordination has occurred over the last two years with delivering of food on behalf of families who do not have the ability to to have lunches for their children and so we have produced those thousands of them over the last two years not to mention the addition of breakfast so not only are we clean and orderly and efficient we are also servants and i want to thank all of you for that and all the work that you've done to ensure that our kids have good hot meals

on a daily basis and that we have a clean environment for them to eat in so thank you so much we appreciate you coming out sir and giving us this award because it does mean a lot to us so thank you very much thank you thank you thank you for coming uh next item is item number six district updates from the superintendent we don't have any okay provided it already item seven is a public commentary we have 19 people who are signed up this evening which gives us each one minute 34. one minute and 34 seconds to be exact um i will read the name of the person who's um speaking and the next person so they're on deck so we will start with dan salcido followed by robert baker mr salcedo any cag recommendation

is bogus invalid and completely biased if this board accepts that recommendation this board is also biased and not reflecting our community here's why scott prebles presented the cag plan at the june board meeting stating measurable outcomes one ensures crt in any of its doctrines are not taught to students and to prevent the inclusion of crt explicit content in future plants scott's own words he fled out lied and contorted this board's approved plan into a sham which was premeditated in reeks of his malicious and blatant disregard for board authority he and his osba team deceitfully manipulated the cag members until two-thirds almost 40 quit and discussed of scott's ruse to install crt content known as dbie and despite scott's letter to the district recently dbie is crt zero integrity in a person whom we should see

as a role model example in this district this board should at minimum reprimand scott for his complete abandonment of the board's original approved cag plan but frankly should recognize the potential breach of scott's contract specifically the termination clause of 17b which considers reckless disregard of the interest of the district or that is materially injurious to the interest of this district which crt would be the board should be ashamed to have renewed scott's contract rather than allow the next incoming board to make that vote they got to live with that this guy for the next three or four years whatever the contract is shameful you thank you mr salcedo next is mr robert baker followed by ella campos baker president oopsey local 177. uh tonight i want to talk to you about our fabulous maintenance department

which i think are extremely uh undervalued as far as uh what we know about them we have one supervisor we have one part-time administrative assistant we have five maintenance technicians uh with a compiling years of service for the forest hill school district of over 99 years they're very old so they're going to love that with over 150 years into building trades which is fabulous because that's what they do these guys are responsible for the technical maintenance of the buildings the custodians do what we call the minor maintenance these guys get in deep into it so the our guys do what they call performance based or performing based we contract out as little as possible outside of the district our guys try to handle as much as they possibly can before it goes to that we

cover 1.1 million square footage of building space 12 buildings 17 athletic fields 43 acres of outdoor space 496 toilets which i thought was kind of interesting they use 600 gallons of line paint for the athletic fields in a year there are oversee 45 additional acres of contracted outdoor space so we have a lot of outdoor area they've completed in one year of time upwards of 500 work orders through either the fmx system verbal or emails mr baker i'm sorry i need to to make you stop thank you very much thank you for your time next is ella campos followed by jana frank this distance i'm kind of short oh hi i'm ella campos and i teach at anderson high school and i'm the world language department chair and i'm here to spend to spread positivity

to tell you how wonderful everything is going in my department so just a few things that's going on um we've been singing in classes we've been um going yes the elementary school teachers are like yeah we're singing we do art to mimic the artists that we're learning about in spanish 4 they actually looked up and researched famous hispanic people and when they did the report they learned how to do qr code so that you can go in the hallway and go like this with your phone and listen to their report in spanish ap spanish this was really cool several kids have told the teacher i'm actually looking forward to class tomorrow so that's really exciting in german they've done superheroes they're planning trips around germany learning how to use the train system they're learning how

to convince their parents that they need a dog or a cat some kind of pet because that's a big thing in germany and they're learning about german food in mandarin this was really neat a couple of the kids actually use their mandarin for real life they did something at church using their mandarin so that was really neat and in latin they get to recreate latin towns by drawing and building and they are writing fun stories and they're also um loving caesar so i don't know i had 12 seconds but i just want you to know with anderson in the world language department we're super excited to be there we love what we do and we love our kids and everybody seems to be really happy so that's our goal thank you next is jana frank

followed by matt gaul my name is jana frank i'm here tonight as a parent of a junior at turpin high school and as the choral director here at nagel middle school i'd like to thank the board as a parent for the many opportunities he has given my they have given my son through all the experiences he's been able to grow through in at turpin i did not know much about what high school was all about and i have great things to say about how they care for students and for that i am grateful as a mother i'm grateful for it as well as a teacher because i know i'm sending my fabulous nagel students on to excellent experiences and with that i would like to tell you all that nagel middle school will be hosting

its first choir concert well is it so working choir concert in 20 months next month on november the 17th and for that i am so grateful thank you all for what you do to keep our kids doing great things thank you [Applause] next is matt gaul followed by chris bartel hello my name is matt gaul and i'm the headband director at anderson high school and co-director of the forest hills marching band alongside my colleague joe weshy over at turpin i'm here tonight to give you a few more a few more updates from last month's meeting based on how well the season season's going into some other general band updates um on saturday october 16th the band performed at the buckeye invitational at the ohio state university go bucs uh and out of 44 total bands

we placed in the top eight and uh the percussion section won first place with a score of 97 out of 100 which is astronomically awesome this past weekend here in the district we hosted the 43rd annual band expo where 14 bands from from around the state came to the campus of turpin high school to compete in an omei adjudicated contest and were treated to an outstanding performance by the incomparable uc bearcat marching band as well which was just really really cool to see um needless to say the event was incredibly successful the weather was awesome which we were due for because we've had wind and rain the past couple years so just a great event all around and thanks to everyone who's been instrumental in hoping that event be a success on behalf of myself

and my colleagues i would like to thank the board for your continued support of all the performing arts programs here at forest hills and with my time left i would also like to promote the nagel band concert which is here tomorrow night in the nagel cafetorium thank you all thank you [Applause] next is chris bartel followed by christine wong hi my name is chris partel i'm here to talk to you about our youngest learners in the forest hill school district i've been teaching for 35 years 32 of those have been here in the forest hill school district in the integrated preschool classroom this year our program that was at summit elementary we had three classrooms there was combined with sherwood's three classrooms so we're currently serving approximately 160 students with seven teachers and approximately 10

related service staff all at sherwood elementary so i'd like to say thank sherwood's administration and staff for welcoming all of us and giving us space to be there and also to acknowledge that the board of education started and established the program the preschool program 32 years ago long before it had to be there because it was federally mandated but we started before the federal mandate so thank you thanks thank you next is uh christine wong followed by laura holtcamp hi good evening everyone uh i am a new teacher in the district and new in general but i teach latin at turpin and anderson and i'm here to give an update on what's happening in the latin classroom so my latin ones i've convinced football players to sing their latin declensions as they walk through the

hallways so if you've never seen a six foot one high school student coming at you singing to the tune of jingle bells their second declension it's quite a sight i also have planned a roman villa layout project for them and we're going to p maybe tie-dye togas if they can keep their enthusiasm in check and not fling their tie-dye around for latin 2 we've currently learned body parts in latin so they're latin roots and i've connected it to biology and anatomy for them and we're also learning about the roman military and i have had to stop some of the boys in the classroom from reaching for sticks to hit each other with but they're really enjoying it and i was driving home the other day and saying you know i love my job the students

are great they're sharp they're enthusiastic and the administrators and everyone i've been in contact with have been so supportive and welcoming and understanding and as i tell my students as a new year teacher i have continuing education on my own so i'm going to go do my homework and listen to myself as i tell my students do your homework and study thank you very much thank you laura holt camp followed by gail garza all right i am laura holt camp former sherwood archer turban spartan mom to a seventh grade niggle nighthawk and a fourth grade and first grade sherwood archer and i am here as maddox learning commons media specialist to share with you a story that i hope you take with you tonight and uh don't let it go too far out of your

memory so in the learning commons we do a lot of building we do a lot of collaborative work and the task for my second graders was to take the materials on the table and build a bridge that was it those were the instructions one particular class had a group of students who were struggling with those materials because they all wanted their own fair share they didn't sort out they didn't divide out equally so they're all trying to build their bridge the best that they can build it and there's a few squabbles mrs holcam this isn't fair and i said well just keep trying i'd walk to another group and at the end i come over and they have one big huge bridge of blocks going from one side of the table to the other i

said wow how did you come up with this design and they said you know what mrs whole camp we realized when we do it together we built it better and i said wow that's powerful stuff and so i left that day thinking these second graders have got it when we work together even when it's tough even when things aren't dividing out the way we want them to and it's just not going our way when we put our heads together and work as a team it all turned out better than they could have possibly ever imagined thank you so as a former kiddo that's gone through this district mom and teacher thank you for sending your kids to me thank you [Applause] next is gail garza followed by nikki utts yeah that height thing really matters

okay good evening ladies and gentlemen actually this is such a coincidental and lovely follow to that story because my topic for this evening is to talk about professional learning communities plc these the acronym we use inside the district and it really is exactly the message that she said just for grown-ups um that we build it better when we do it together yes uh so our mission in our plc's this is time that is um in our week typically once or twice a week depending on what building you're in uh where teachers of similar for my bill at the high school level we work with cohorts of teachers who have similar teaching duties and we really get an opportunity to learn best practices share experience evaluate student work come up with you know best practice and

ideas delivery i think if i look back over in 18 so far 18 years in the business here when you started 18 years ago they gave you a book maybe um there was some junk in the drawer um and then you know you went in your room and you did your thing and you went home and now it is a collaborative and team effort that really drives a culture of continuous improvement that week to week year to year we reflect and evaluate on our practice we think about what is best for students we deeply think about what do we really want them to know how do we get them to do it and how do we know they got it done and when it's done hey if it didn't quite get there how dost i

product of this forest hills school district i would like to thank scott prebles the board donna laver and the force tells teachers association for working together to ensure a safe fun productive learning environment for our students and our staff thanks uh katie sadaka followed by casey hat maker hi my name is katie sadaka i'm an intervention specialist at mercer i wanted to share a story with you that happened this school year in early september i had a third grade student that had to quarantine for the entire month due to various coveted related reasons while in quarantine the student didn't miss a beat thanks to the parental support and the support within our district due to having one-on-one devices in forest hills we were able to send home the child's chromebook on the chromebook she was

able to attend all of her groups via google meet also important to note is the parental support that was going on within that child's home that parent ensured that the child was set up for success each and every day she helped with the technology she was in the background making sure proper papers were out and she even was helping check her work along the way what a blessing to work in a district that has such a supportive parents and the financial ability to equip students with the necessary technology thank you thank you uh next is casey hat maker followed by rachel scitec hi my name is casey hatmaker and i'm also here to share some positive things going on i'm currently working as an intervention specialist at mercer elementary and um happy to do it

every day i have a pop quiz for you all i bet you already knew that there are 27 letters in the alphabet but did you know that those letters can combine can combine to form 44 different phonemes or sounds and what about the fact that the sound of e could be spelled with eight different letter combinations how about the sound of ja any guesses how many ways can it be spelled four four different ways i share this information with you because it's just some of the things that i was able to learn and take away from a training provided by forest hills called orton gillingham orton is one of the best methods we know right now to provide struggling readers with the help they need to succeed i value this district because they allow that

training and they hire teachers who are motivated and want to provide students even struggling ones with the best possible education they can get thanks thank you rachel scitec followed by lauren we thorn without accountability there is no validity um i used my voice to speak out against equity and critical race theory in our district as a black forest hills graduate k-12 a business owner and an attorney leadership over the citizens advisory group sought to silence and exclude me so i would like to read the following public records correspondence issued august 6 2021 yesterday after several attempts to stop miss ctac from attending the superintendent's cag meeting the district's attorney informed me that i should permit her to attend the meeting as reliance on auditor office data regarding land transactions and the like are not always

accurate in fact he informed me that another district he represents is currently in litigation because of an inaccurate posting some on the committee believe miss ctac did not meet the application process deadline not accurate she did we denied her application and argued that she did not live in a registered address of anderson township therefore we denied her attendance at meeting one she was ready and able to attend these are the words of superintendent scott prebles thank you [Applause] next is lauren weathhorn followed by leah souter hello i'm lauren with i teach first grade at air elementary and i told my kids today that i was coming to see all of you all these wonderful people who care about what they learn told them about mr prebbles and the board and how they're always watching out

for their best interest so they had a few things they wanted to say to you about air the teachers have good math in mind for the students i like art because they have supplies i really like like brushes and lots of pink colors in math we learn the doubles and doubles plus one that's a good thing to know air is really good for us to know and learn and we are so lucky to be here i like to learn with my friends and my friends like me and i like them i like school because there are nice teachers i like doing research and writing facts to read to my friends at air school they have a big field where i can play there are a lot of books here to read i like going to

air school because i can just walk there i'm going to miss school when it's the last day i like to practice math at math workshop i like to do reading it's really fun to do quests i have a nice teacher a nice classroom a nice school and nice stuff to learn i like going to music and seeing mr wilgas i like doing the instruments from the little old lady i like having lunch every day and going to the big playground and going to united arts i like doing freckle math and getting fast at my math facts i like working at the teacher table with my reading and math groups air school is a great place to be thank you [Applause] leah souter followed by susan groney hello my name's leah souter i have been teaching

at nagel for the past 13 years my husband is a new teacher at turpin but just left nagle and i'm so appropriate that i followed mrs sweethorn because my son goes to air elementary and he could i don't know i am so emotional but he he loves me it's just as a parent i really appreciate that a lot and um we've watched him grow academically socially and emotionally and there's um other prince of the principals were here they all left i think but um they're just such wonderful people and i'm so lucky that my son goes to school there from a personal note i wanted to thank all of you for the opportunity to be a middle school teacher i love being here i love working as a team and being on a team with

teachers that we share the same students and i feel like that's a a great benefit for students and for me as a teacher i am one of the 10 web coordinators and web stands for where everybody belongs and i have the opportunity to lead a 8th grade web advisory and kovitz has forced some unwelcome changes revisions the past couple years but or the past year and a half but we trained watch i trained them watched them and we debriefed their first lesson with their seventh graders on last thursday and i secretly love when they get frustrated when their seventh graders don't listen to them because that is what happens very often in middle school um but my favorite part of the debriefing was looking for ways that they wanted to improve and wanted to make

shout outs to their peers for just being great leaders and being great people to work with so i appreciate the opportunity to be a teacher here thank you [Applause] susan groney followed by uh david lobach all right um i am susan groney um i'm here in a two-roll situation i have lived in the anderson townships for over 30 years and i've had five children go through the district and i will say that one of my children are disabled but the four that are able to work in our um in our cities and in our township are successful and happy and good people so thank you for that my second role is i am an english language arts teacher here at nagel and it is a great place to work it is a hard place to

work because the expectations are high not just for our students but for our teachers but how they support us is our content area teams we meet twice a week here at neighbor middle school and we plan and we tap into our innovative specialists and for somebody who's been around as long as i have that's a challenge but these people that are in our staff and in our building they make our jobs work and by doing that we provide our kids opportunities our students here at nagel in my class are currently working on a choice novel assignment where they were presented 10 different books and they were given a little summary and they got to choose which book they want to read i had a student come up to me who does not like school is

it miss mrs groney this book relates to me i'm excited to read it we were able to do that because of this cat team working together putting together a unit that's talking about obstacles and challenges that kids face in that middle school age range and they take it and they go forward and they're successful so thank you thank you mr lobock followed by donna lover hello i've got a hodgepodge of things to talk about so i'll be brief about each first is critical race theory and the remnants of it we were told that there wasn't any critical race theory being taught yet there was as long as there's talk about uh equity microaggressions privilege that's critical race theory after one of the earlier meetings i heard some of the proponents of it talking off the

hall out in the hallway let's just wait about a year till things die down unless you stamp it out it's not gonna go away so you gotta gotta end it uh topic two is sex education i don't know what's being taught here but just recently i've talked to several parents know that this is being more than than reproductive biology is being taught and i've heard about four or five kids not all from anderson and the nine to ten-year-old reigns saying i'm gay what does a 10 year old boy know about it he knows that tommy's his best friend and he do anything for tommy and they do everything together [Music] they're getting that from the schools past performance of anderson schools my kids graduated in from anderson high school 99 in 2001 and it was

known as anderson university in the area they excelled in academics in music and sports everything you can think of wouldn't it be nice to have anderson university back we can do it you guys are responsible for getting it done if it's not here i gotta say it's your fault uh mass uh i hate to sound hardened i'm done thank you thank you [Applause] donna laver followed by justin fry good evening my name is donna lauver and i am the part-time community partnership advisor here in forest hills school district i'm going to give you a little update here about something that's happening in the school that makes friday night look small and that is our football club cincinnati versus forest hill school district marketing student plan so right now we're in full swing with our rivalry

we have 22 students across turpin and anderson that are competing and have been thoroughly trained in marketing aspects for sports management marketing here and their jobs have been to professionally be able to come up with plans and strategies in order to sell tickets for the november 7th game november 7th is officially been titled the forest hill school district day at fcc it's also their last game and we could really use a win and a nice crowd with that being said the students are selling tickets at a discounted rate and they are currently at this rate i think mr uh fender's here so he might like this outcome and mr spencer i don't know if i see him but we'll let him know currently anderson high school is leading the rivalry challenge by 42 to but

they all have a goal and that goal is about 250 tickets so two years ago they were able to accomplish quite a strategy the goal of this program is to help our students to be able to become better community members and also associate themselves with skills that are outside of the classroom with that thank you so much thank you and mr fry good evening i'm reading on behalf of sean martin um since this is the last regularly scheduled board meeting uh before the elections i wanted to send my heartfelt thanks for everything that the board has done in the past um two and a half years for the forest hill school district um even though your personal values may differ from others and from each other's you found a way to work together to compromise

with dignity and respect not only did you make an important uh budget and policy decisions but you did it with the most important people in mind the students uh we had a heck of a two years and we couldn't have made it through without your leadership thank you for all your service during your tenure the district has seen 95 graduation rates in both high schools uh ranked in ohio's top 50 by u.s news and world reports 73 of the operating budget goes towards classroom instruction and that's amazing uh the impact of the students the impact of that investment is evident in the students achievements and excellent in stem education you should be proud of your work and the district and he knows he is as well and i would like to personally thank you all

also for you know enduring the vitriol and the [Music] everything that you've dealt with over the last two and a half years so um i know when i decided to move into anderson township um almost 12 years ago it mostly was because of the schools so i thank you all for making it a great district [Applause] thank you mr fry and thank you to all the speakers appreciate it the next item on the agenda is item agenda eight business operations mr eckert good evening business operations this has one agenda item today it is in relation to the naming rights of the anderson high school weight room this is the second review of the individual sports uh sponsorship agreement and the review was first brought to the board on september 27 2001. at this time uh

the superintendent recommends that the board approve the individual sponsorship agreement and contract as attached is there a motion that's part of the consent oh sorry um there's a consent agenda sorry we will hold off on that until we are through 10.1 thank you mr eckert human resources report mr fellows thank you well good evening to the board let's see here hr report starts out with item a retirement we have a few individuals who i'd like to call out by name chris carletti 25 years tina wiese 30 years karen working 34 years cheryl kemper 27 years and tonya herron 23 years on our certified column and in the classified column we have brad nagle 21 years and connie tudor 29 years it combined 189 years of service to our district and to our students which is

commendable so we uh we are excited for their retirement and the the second the next phase in their journey but certainly we'll miss them in the months and years ahead item b resignation we just have one classified resignation mr lebker there and item c is appointment employment personnel which includes several additional items here item d change of assignment or salary we have a a few of those for the board to consider coaches and supplemental positions item e we have one certified appointment mr lebker you might just recall that he moved from a classified position to a certified position which we're excited to have for him at summit elementary additional appointments uh classified staff we have a number of folks coming off of the on to probationary status and then subsequently subsequently off of probationary status

um and appointed for a one-year limited contract and that a bulk of those include the esser positions some of the paraprofessional positions that we've hired gearing up for this school year which i'll talk a little bit about a little bit later in the report item f we have special services appointments a few individuals working beyond the contract for the board's consideration our economics entrepreneurship position there um kindergarten evaluations are step up to quality training for paraprofessionals um covid contact tracing we have a number of individuals working beyond the contracted days in response to contact tracing and the time that's needed there and also our elementary camp current directors food service contract those folks work in food service over the contracted days and our re program stipends as well item g is the appointment of additional

assignments and appointments and resignations we have a number of additional appointments this month most of which are supplemental positions coaching positions club sponsors and that sort of thing for the board's consideration item h we do have a number of student teachers or interns coming into our midst and again always believe it's good to give back to those aspiring to enter into the field of education so we're excited to welcome five individuals from area universities to be working with our teachers observing in our classrooms item i we have a number of volunteers for board approval and item j substitute personnel for approval which concludes the formal hr report and at this time i would like to transition to the uh the fte october reconciliation as i have shared over the last several months this is the

month this is the time that we have an opportunity to take a look at the fte reconciliation from last year to this year and we can see we've got things started here before i get started i did want to take a moment to acknowledge and congratulate mr prebbles on receiving the exceptional service award from bassa this is the buckeye association of school administrators for his participation in the development of ohio's legislatively approved fair fair school funding plan he and his colleagues have worked on behalf of public education for quite a while testifying before the ohio legislature in columbus and it certainly appears as if his hard work has paid off so congratulations to you scott and jody if you can go to the next slide um so this being my first board presentation in regarding

the ft account in our district um i did think it would be appropriate for me to just take a minute to provide some context to the overall story in the end it truly is more than just a simple report regarding the number of employees in our district rather it should serve as an affirmation of the quality of education that we are working daily to deliver to our students and to our community my wife ellen and i have moved to the to anderson five years ago and we did so like so many others primarily because of the schools we have continued to work hard and as a community we have to continue to work hard whether we're in the school district or community members parents to protect the great tradition of excellence that we have come

to expect in our district over the years and our staff both current and those to come are a huge component of that so up behind me is a quick list of some relevant accolades that i thought would be a good for us to to kind of use as a lens through which we can view the fte reconciliation so i'll be the first to say that we are not a perfect organization there are definitely areas of growth but i would say that we've definitely got a good thing going just look at this list i'm not going to go through each of these but you'll see some pretty remarkable things up there academics the arts and the like and this happening over the last year in an era that we've really not faced in terms of challenges

in our organization um perhaps the most impressive on the list came just recently last week from the ohio department of education school and district report cards which includes a performance index this is based on performance on end-of-year state tests our district actually increased its standing in the area of hamilton county and you will not find another district with a higher overall district pi at this point in the eastern cincinnati conference that's the ecc in which we compete both anderson and turpin which is pretty incredible given the challenges that we faced last year and they were significant kind of radically overhauling how we deliver education and trying to do so with a lot of unknowns and still being able to to produce on an academic side of things is pretty in incredible so jody if you

go to the next slide i want to spend a moment to remind the board as we are as we take staffing in the district seriously and work hard to avoid any knee-jerk decisions you know there are a number of factors that that kind of go in and that need to be remembered prior to looking at the bottom line first and foremost we obviously look at our enrollment trends this year we did see a gradual and steady uptick in kindergarten enrollment over the course of the summer which did necessitate some staffing decisions additionally we recognize the need to assist students in a couple areas within our district through increased needs in the area of special education and our district like many others around have made great use of the federally funded esser monies that were provided

to the districts for the purpose of addressing learning loss to date we have actually hired 11 additional employees nine intervention aides so one per building and we have hired two intervention specialists we are seeking a third to help in this regard and it should be noted that none of these positions come at an expense to the district we've also increased as was mentioned a little bit earlier in mr eckhart's report he mentioned the total square footage in the district our our square footage in the district has actually increased um from 2014 about 134 000 square feet and while we have lost some custodial and maintenance staff over the years we are up one position from last year to this year and finally it's always a good reminder to the board that our food service is

self-sustaining and while there are no anticipated increases in this department if there ever is it comes at no additional cost to our general fund the next slide is a glance at our elementary heat map and because the district has hired some additional support at the elementary level we felt like it would be appropriate to have a quick glance at our average class sizes at the elementary level when it was first created several years ago there were many red areas on here and red equals not so great we've worked over the years to try to improve and the average student to staff ratio and as you can see we do have a couple areas with some rather high average enrollments however we had more areas in the red at the start of the year and we're

appreciative to be able to hire a few individuals to help bring class sizes to a more manageable state i would say that we are in a good not great position in that regard at this point with regard to class sizes at the elementary level the final slide in my report this evening is the actual numbers from last year to this year should be noted at the bottom right hand corner shows the expected fte changes and it's important to point out that while it appears that we have added 21 new employees 12 of these are from the federally funded esser monies five of these include our eight part-time bus monitors who had been working previously as substitutes and have now been brought in under ops 677 group at no additional cost to the district which leaves

a net total of an increase in four ftes we've hired two additional intervention aides to help offset increased class sizes in our elementary schools and two paraprofessionals to assist with increases in special education needs so lastly i would remind the board and the community that the board's human resources committee met last week on wednesday to review all of this information with even greater specificity and just as a reminder i have been throughout this entire process in tight communication with alanna during the entire hiring season and all of what has been presented this evening is in keeping with the board's approved appropriations and will not have an adverse impact on the district's five-year forecast so with that i would entertain any questions so we did meet last week um elizabeth and i are the board members

on the committee and the the most important thing i think i learned and i think i didn't know it before because i wasn't on the board at the time was this these esther positions to help with learning loss and it's it's it's a short term two years three years right yep they are two one-year positions okay two one-year positions and it's it's it's money that is given to us and then is not part of our budget so it's it's federally funded and that was important to know um do you all have any questions scott do you want to add anything you you know i think like rob said he and i have worked together closely to make sure that we stay within the appropriations um you know we did have to add the the four

positions but there are a couple other areas in the five-year forecast where we've been lucky and we can talk about the kind of provided the money for that our health insurance came in um really good this year so that we're saving some money there that we were able to move move to that places these things happen during the year in the event of a five-year forecast it's an estimate when the kids start coming and the insurance estimates become actuals money gets moved from one one pile to another so to speak and i think that um we work very hard together along with betsy and john and and steve and all the administrators to try to make sure that we stay within those and and when we find a little bit of money we save it

to take care of the needs great thank you and it is consent so that concludes my report thank you thank you next is uh you yeah that's okay beginning with uh treasurer's item the first item there the uh donations donations over the past month were just under 6 500. item b shows the board's statement of counts we which presents all funds activity for our current fiscal year and tonight's report covers the first quarter of our new fiscal and school year 2122 item c presents the general fund our five-year forecast receipts for the month and the fiscal year date to date ended september 30th as always september was pretty moderate cash flow month and at this point revenues are tracking where would they where we would expect them to be at this point in time items

d and e present the expenditures uh for the general fund for the month and fiscal year to date as always expenditures are fairly evenly divided in a school district it's like 1 12 of your annual ex expenditures happen every month in your fiscal year and with 25 percent of the year passed we have spent 24.7 of our appropriations so right where we would expect to be at this point you will see our december 30th bank reconciliation and investments in items f and g and the appropriation adjustment detail is in item h and i would like to call your point uh your attention to uh the increase there in uh fund 599 of 409 thousand and that's thanks to mr steve meese receiving a his grant submission to the fcc being approved for a grant in

the from the emergency connectivity fund and that's one of the things that we talked about one of those unexpected good news that all the administrators continue to search out grant opportunities in this particular one thank you you steve and that will give some relief to our five-year forecast as well so thanks thanks to steve um item i presents the rates for our employee benefits uh plan for our plan year which begins january uh first 22 so our health insurance our medical insurance our dental insurance all those plan years run from january through december and um we've had good years and we've had bad years and this year just happened to be a good year for the renewal our renewal was a 1.9 percent for our health insurance um over the years like i've said we've

had good years the best year over the last um eight years being a decrease of 3.8 the worst year being an increase of 10.7 so with an average increase over the last eight years being 4.1 so again with this year being 1.9 that's definitely had a positive impact on our five-year forecast and we'll talk more about the forecast in november which is due date for that that said i respectfully request that the board approve items 10.1 a through 10.1 i as part of the consent agenda so we need a motion uh on the consent agenda to approve items 8.1 through 10.1 so moved second miss choice yes dr rasmussen yes mrs bissinger yes so i want to again say thank you to the board prior to my getting here for doing the process for the

individual sponsorship agreement that we now have in place and for rob and his team for and scott as well for making it come to life and to anderson high school for being the first school to have a sponsor and to the bell family for being our first sponsors thank you all it's it's an amazing it's an amazing new adventure for our district thank you okay um yes i was you asked me a few minutes ago if i had something to say and i i sit in awe of the team that i work with and the teachers who presented today and those that are in the classrooms you think about the grants that we are receiving from the work of our staff we think about the sponsorships that we are doing to bring additional types of

dollars into the district you think about the seven hills contract which at the time was the most significant contract of its type in the cincinnati area think about the ability to utilize federal funds to offset the budget so that we can ensure that the students receive the learning loss assistance that they need think about a promise of three years moving most likely to a four-year opportunity for us to extend into a fourth year of levy these things happen also when you think about the teachers coming in and designing the entire remote package that we have in place the online learning that was available for our students that cost other districts in the neighborhood of 1.5 1.6 million dollars and then you consider the um [Music] performance index that rob just talked about and the ability

for our school district in a very difficult time with all of this going on to be able to legitimately increase its position not that we are in competition with our sister schools but to increase our position from an educational standpoint to be the district in the area that increased the most given the circumstances that we're involved in our staff our parents our teachers our community has done a phenomenal job of ensuring that forest hills maintains its place as a lighthouse district in the state of ohio and we're doing it in efficient cost-effective ways and taking advantage of every opportunity that we can those class sizes that we looked at they do not exist in all the districts near us in some of the districts that perform as well or better in some instances we are

putting dollars in classrooms with students and it is paying off and so i want to thank our staff our parents our community the leadership that we receive from our board to be able to take chances and to try to to attempt to do new things that this district has not done in the past 15 or so years so i have a lot to say because i'm a very proud person very proud of my association with the school district and the work that has happened and so i was kind of sitting on that i wish i would have thought of that when you asked me the question originally perfect timing a few more things a few more things needed to crash across my my dashboard before i could so i'm just thankful and and and very

much happy that our students still receive the best possible given the circumstances that we have thank you scott for reminding us all of what a great district we are and of these most recent examples the next item is board discussion anything ladies yeah i just wanted to once again or well to mention the forest hills teachers association would like to just to make sure they have board support to move forward with their make-a-wish program association oea is going to match their funding up to 500 to start the effort um which would be great so if they raise 500 then we got a thousand that we can you know that they can give to make a wish and um if you don't know we've had two two students in our district go through make-a-wish um so

it's you know something that is very near and dear to the hearts of of the organization so i just wanted to throw that out there once again and just make sure they know that they have support to for that endeavor i i communicated with mrs laver today and forrest before he left also said yes we're in we support you so thank you yeah i think every one of us has agreed that it's an important thing to do so continue forward um just just one or two things first of all i want to thank each and every speaker who shared your thoughts your concerns with us and believe me we listen we really do it's no secret i make it public that we have the best staff that you can imagine and we're so we're we're

privileged i mean we have just the best of the best and and when you have the best of the best it's all about our children and that's what we want it's about every child every day every child every day and that's what you guys do for our kids so thank you for that and also thanks mr meese for bringing some money into this thing a lot of money a lot of them i mean that's a lot of money and you all i can say is you you must be real good at writing grants so thank you for all you do thank you next item on the agenda is reports to the board of education anderson economic development committee report i don't um i'm on the this is elizabeth's report but she's not here and i

believe i'm also on that committee and i don't believe there's been a meeting but um amy's shaking her head back there because amy was involved is involved as well i think we're having a follow-up to talk about homerama and some other things in the next month so um finance committee report um leslie anything we've not met since the last meeting okay uh forest hills foundation report oh i'm sorry did i skip something did we do the uh motion yes oh you did yes we're good thank you she's she's the one who keeps us in um stacey gillard gillard sorry i always want to emphasize the second it's my foreign language training um it's okay julie people say it all the time and i'm always like is that like a french pronunciation yeah so but it

is stacy gillard um but good evening everybody i hope everybody's doing great um i am thrilled to continue the sentiment around how our community continues to help other people and the positive work that continues to happen every day in this community and in this district so you probably have all heard that we just completed our all-in collection drive all in for inner parish ministry and i am proud to report if we can go to the next slide that we set a goal of 12 000 pounds of food and personal care items and we actually today sent everything to ipm unloaded all these boxes and it's over fifteen thousand pounds of personal care yes of personal care items and food and i will tell you i spoke with elijah hart today who is the ceo of

inner parish ministry and she was sharing with me how much the need is there and actually in these last six months that they're seeing twice the amount of people that are coming to the food pantry and so i am proud to report on behalf of the foundation on behalf of nine united um that we we made a difference we made in the different we made a difference in many many families community families students in our community and on the outskirts of our community um and then i also wanted to share to you there are several people and i love when like a plan comes together and you really can showcase like how a lot of people doing great work these are the results so if we can go to the next slide um this was

actually from saturday we did a drive through at turpin where we got our last set of personal care items and food but it takes a team and i wanted to specifically outline a handful of people first and foremost i want to start with the students so we tapped into nagel anderson and turpin students to help from the very beginning back in july actually before this took place so i want to specifically give a shout out to laina brum maria timmers ava wakelaw christina campone alexis huebner ashley huebner zoe becker brooke heiss kaylee strasbaugh kyle easton bradley kenner and kaden bardone so these students helped really work with all of the counselors at the other buildings across the district and we would not have been as successful without our building reps who are the counselors in

all of the buildings so i also wanted to give a shout out to them at anderson cheryl kemper anderson brought in over 6 000 pounds of power packs that were given to inner parish ministry um which was incredible at turpin amy mckitty nagel carolyn heller she actually put a video together as well if you saw that which was awesome um air jessie martin maddox paige francis mercer gigi naughton sherwood lisa cranfield summit shannon rooney wilson jean boate and the district office jody mckinley so i i say all of these people's names i say our students and our staff because the result of this was a huge success so um congratulations to our community for i will tell you the largest amount that has ever been brought in before was ten thousand seven hundred pounds we

set a goal this year of 12 000 and we brought in over 15 and it's probably actually closer to 16 which isn't pretty incredible so thank you for everybody that participated that got involved because we are truly helping feed families and nurse souls so thank you i also wanted to give a quick shout out on friday we had our luncheon where we recognized five distinguished alumni this was actually from the football game and the lovely drizzle rain we were out there and so it was a great day to celebrate our alumni one of the things that i'm constantly inspired by is people that really do good work and don't always want the recognition for it these individuals that we recognized on friday went above and beyond that um and i also want to say too

that stanley jones who is a staff member at anderson has been with the district working in the district for 59 years he had his old whole entourage there and it just was a really great day to celebrate the outstanding work happening in our district and the individuals that are coming out of their experience and how they are really able to capitalize on the fact that what they have learned has helped them be who they are today so that was a very fun day on friday and then the last thing is we actually have one of our signature events the foundation puts on every year is the fall soiree i know i've come here several months now and shared that the one thing i did want to specifically say to the audience and all the parents

watching at home is that you don't have to attend the event to actually participate so the live auction is actually going to go live this week and you can actually get on the site and actually check out some online auction items i can tell you that there's a napa trip there's a florida trip there's a cabo trip the ones i'm particularly interested in so we encourage you to go up go and check it out but the other thing too that i think is really really important to promote is that we host this event to raise funds to support all students in this district it doesn't matter which school you're at where your child goes we raise funds for that additional layer of how can we help in the world of mental wellness mental health and

wellness so we i encourage you to go check it out um it has been an extremely successful week for the foundation i also want to give another shout out to dave spencer and tony himmelgaard at the chirping game german anderson game but they did a lot of work the foundation what had a very strong presence at the game it was my first turpin anderson game it was very fun um but i just wanted to appreciate all their work and we were excited to be there and connect with so many alumni and community members so on behalf of the forest hills foundation good things are happening i am proud to report that and i'm proud to be a part of this community thank you thanks stacy [Applause] sorry i think my um yes um hr sorry

um that is the one that uh we had last week um elizabeth is the chair of that committee we met on october the 20th of 21 mr fellows went over a lot of what we discussed today he fine-tuned what we discussed we discussed it in much more detail the other item we discussed was the substitute teacher situation in the district we are low on subs we are um one of every other school district probably in the country that's low on subs we're working on solutions i think there is a report and maybe a recommendation to come before the end of the year maybe even as early as november yes okay um legislation legislative liaison report that's forest no news is good news congratulations mr prebbles on your award by the way a lot of people

have no idea how much time he has spent working to change school funding and it's been an item that's been troublesome to public schools for years and years and years and your work is amazing so thank you i will say that on behalf of forrest so thank you thank you next is the policy committee report we've not met okay uh safety committee report haven't met you know teaching and learning committee report here in forest oh elizabeth enforced any meeting on that we did have a meeting um of course i thought cars would be here to do this report so i mean we talked i thought it was really good we got a lot of good information donna shared with us um who else i think you were there i mean we had great information i

apologize for not having anything in writing for you but that's okay good meeting you is there anything he talked about the cornerstones we talked about the portrait of a learner a graduate we also spent some time talking about the exchange program that donna spoke up earlier today the expansion of that program and the number of students that have interest in that and possibility of expanding that program as we get into the january and scheduling season for the upcoming school year and that's pretty much the experienceship right those are some heavy topics it doesn't seem like a lot at this particular presentation however there's a lot of work to align what we're doing with our experience program with the new seals that are available for students for graduation requirements and so that's a big part of

that process and ensuring that our program is aligned with the ohio department of education's expectations for specialized seal for graduation requirements so that was part of that and again always working on the portrait of learner our four cornerstones and all the work that's happening professional development wise we also talked about what did happen in our professional development session uh the last one that we were together and we also have another one coming up on november 2nd we will be having professional development again for our teaching staff so those are in the four cornerstones so it's all good thank you technology and facilities committee report we haven't met since the last time which was september 13th and we approved those minutes tonight um forest hills teachers association mrs laverne no report tonight so i we have
