Is there a motion to close the nominations? So move. >> Um, roll call, please. Mrs. Foley, >> yes. >> Mrs. Greger, >> yes. >> Mr. Ryder, >> yes. >> Mr. Yes. Mrs. >> Yes. >> Okay. Now, um, you just do this. Mrs. >> Mrs. Trer question. Mrs. Holy. Oh. Mrs. Greg votes for Mrs. Tresper. >> Mr. Light votes for >> Mrs. Trevker.
003>> Mrs. Nicole Trevker is elected president of the board of education for 2026 and assumed the duties of the office until the election of officers at the January 2027 organizational meeting. Mrs. is elected vice president of the board of education for 2026 and resumes the duties of the office until
004the until the election of officers at the 2027 January January 2027 organizational meeting. Title and location of the meetings for 2026. The board of education as to establish the date, time, and place for all regular meetings of the Perry Board of Education for the year 2026. Um, I'd like to make a motion that we set the meeting dates for the first the regular board of education meetings for the second Monday of each month at 5:45 p.m. in the Tarbox Center conference room and a work session the fourth Monday of each month in the Starbucks conference room. Is there a second? Second. Any discussion? >> So, this is a change. >> This would be different than Tuesday's obviously. It's a Monday. same time works for everybody. >> Yeah. And we could move it as >> if
005we need to. Yeah, we can adjust as needed. So, we'll have a work session each month on the fourth and then regular meeting on the second fourth Monday of the month, not the fourth of the month. And then the regular or the um regular meeting anyone else have any other >> I would just add that Memorial Day is the fourth Monday. So, we can take that action in May or we can adjust it now. And then also um I think Mrs. Capo with closing of the fiscal year may need a meeting in that last week in June. >> The fourth Monday would work. >> The fourth Monday and right now it would be like June 22nd versus June 29th I think is the fifth Monday. >> Oh, there's five. Oh, there's five. >> Okay. So
006we need to do you want to set that now? Is that set that meeting date on the 29th for that? >> We do that >> for Hold on. June >> June 29th and start a 25. >> You guys want to do June 29th? Yes. >> It's not that it doesn't work. It's just Fourth of July week sort of >> leading up to a holiday. I don't know what everybody thinks. >> That's actually that if we're able to as well. That's after school's out. So, if it's more convenient to do it in the morning of that day or before work, early hours, which we can make work. Um >> I don't need anything planned. It doesn't it doesn't impact me. I just want to make sure think about everybody else and what what it's like for
007that week. Is that a is that crunch? Is that too much of a crunch for you to do the 29th? >> No, the 22nd would be more of a crunch to try to get everything done early, but that's what I'm doing. >> What about later in that week? Would that work better for you to not do it the day before? >> No, she needs one before it closes. >> You need the day before it closes. >> No, I'm saying like >> later Thursday of the week prior. >> Yeah, I mean that would work, too. That works better for you guys. >> Yeah, whichever works for me. >> Is that too much for you though? >> No, anything really. Anything after like the 24th would be fine. >> And if if I need to make the
00822nd mark, I can make the 22. >> Well, if nobody has issues, let's why don't we keep it the 29th and if we need to move it, we know that that 25th date would be something that would be workable. Is that is everybody agree or is that okay with everyone? All right. All right. So then I amended my mo motion to make that change for that one meeting. >> Are you going to change the memorial one too over here? >> I think we could probably Do you think we should wait till that's a little bit closer so we know our schedule's a little bit better? >> Would that work? >> So the fourth Monday of the month is regular meeting. >> Yes. That we said >> second Monday is the regular >> Monday session. >>
009Is that work or would you rather reverse it? I'm good with the second beat of the regular and then the fourth be working. >> Okay. >> Do we want to set that May meeting just for now for the 26 that Tuesday just so we have it on on the books and then we can we can move it later. >> Yeah, if that's the better way to do it, whichever way is better. If it's better to keep it or move it, whichever works better. But then I would amend my motion to move that date as well. >> the May one to the 26th instead of the 25th. So June 29th instead of June 22nd and then May 26 instead of May 25th. Correct. >> But everything else will be second Monday and fourth Monday regular and
010then work session. >> Yes. >> So for January, >> we're doing the first one now. >> Yes. >> And then we'll do the fourth Monday as work session. >> Okay. Yes. We're going to set a work session for every month because we need to do that now. Otherwise, we can't add them later on. If we need to eliminate one of them, we can. Um, but it's we have to have them on the schedule set at this meeting in order to have work sessions throughout the year. If we don't set them now, then they can only be special meetings and can't work sessions. Okay. Is there any other discussion? Is there a second? Oh, wait. >> We don't need to put anything in there right now about executive session. Correct. We can just add those as
011needed. So, >> yeah, we can add executive session anytime. >> Evaluation stuff. >> Yeah. But we'll add that as we go. >> We can do that. But we are going to set a quarterly executive session for the purpose of going over evaluations of the employees. So we'll make a note of that and then we'll add that in. >> Roll call, please. Mr. Dick. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Yes. Mrs. >> Yes. Mrs. Foley. >> Yes. Mrs. >> Yes. I think that's where it was. Hold on. Yeah. Where it says board funds
019not to exceed 15,000 for expenses. Is that >> it's like to cover like your capital conference for your expenses of the board? >> Yeah. And that's not an individual. That's the entire board. And is that also including compensation for meetings? >> Okay. That's standard. We keep that on the way. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> Any other discussion? >> That can't be the can't be our >> That can't be right. >> Is it because we are allowed to get We don't get paid this, but we're allowed to make up to $5,000 a year per Ohio Revised Code. Correct. So, we would need to author if that includes that, we would need to authorize up to that amount even though we never have enough money. I don't think it includes that. That's my opinion.
020That's why I was asking for clarification. I think that's just for expenses. >> Yeah. So, just extra expenses and we never have gotten close. >> We're not even close to that. >> No. Never. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> All right. Any other discussion? Roll call, please. Mrs. D. Yes. The board is asked to appoint Zack Seagull and Ashley Gwitch to serve as the Perry Local Schools representatives on the Perry area recreation board for 2026. Item B, committee appointments. The board is asked to designate a representative to serve on the committees listed for 2026. Is there anyone who has a preference for any of the committees as listed? >> Well, I actually wonder if I could
024stay. I was um the vice president of the PARD last year and the township uh replaced my position since I was on the school board. I'd actually like to stay in that. Is that possible with one of our reps taking their place instead of the two that are listed >> to stay as in >> to represent the >> and then represent as the >> we have we have to make the appointment our board would have to right now you're not appointed through us >> right >> correct >> no one or two people are >> can we have three people if >> No two are three people Those are not our not they're not our people, >> right? But we only get two spots on the >> correct. We appoint two people. Gotcha. >> So since
025we were appointing I'm just asking if I could possibly be one of those and then we could vote between those two persons and myself. >> We I mean we certainly could if if you wanted to. Yeah. Like if you wanted to nominate yourself to be one of the positions, we definitely could do that. We had tried to get away from having board members as members of the rec board just because it I gives us a little bit of separation and it's not typical practice for our board member in any other area that we've seen to be on the committees of the advising committees from what we've researched. We researched into that a few years ago when you and I came off of it. >> Well, on that committee you have a village councilman and a
026North Perry councilman, right? >> So, I feel like that precedent is no longer >> Oh, no. It wasn't because of >> No, no. I'm saying I feel like if if we choose to do that that it would be at a detriment >> to us to not have representation in the room >> because those representatives do not come to these meetings when we ask for committee reports. So I feel like it would help us to have someone in that room especially for the large amount of inind support that the school provides through facilities and usage. Do I have anything? >> No, I just I remember when I was on it, we were just I remember just trying to get off like I mean trying to get off of the not that I want to be off
027the record board stuff, but I remember being kind of instructed that hey, the school's stepping away from having people appointed. We're going to go outside of that um to kind of keep that separation like Nikki mentioned. That's my only concern is that we've kind of been doing this now for past what four years, three >> I would actually like to table this this commitment so we can discuss this with legal legal counsel because there were a few issues that had come up. So if it's possible to table this and then we can consult with legal counsel and get a little bit of feedback on that. It's just some things that we had come up in the past that we wanted to make sure that we were keeping the school in a good position. So, I'd
028like to make a motion to table the appointment to the rec board until the next meeting. Is there a second? >> So, that's just table letter, right? >> Yes. Letter A table for the next meeting. Second. Roll call, please. This is on that one. Just untabling it. >> Let me Okay. Real quick, can you get back to when we contacted legal counsel, it was whether or not we could completely not have any affiliation and because of the bylaws, we are required by law to appoint two people. Correct. >> It can be any two people, >> right? >> It can be two board members or it cannot be or it can be one and not. It can be any of that. Our original question was whether or not we could avoid any appointments and legally the
029organization can't exist unless we appoint two people. So I was just trying to recall that make sure that that's clear with what we were asking. >> Yes, we can have appointments. We just the question was whether we had some wanted to discuss legal counsel having a board member serve in that role. >> Yeah. I mean, so I guess the question would be is there a meeting of the record between now and when you would vote on January 26th potentially at a work session and then who would who would attend those meetings in the between now and then? >> So if we're not reappointing, >> I don't know. Is there a meeting between now and then? When is the next meeting? >> Monday. >> This coming Monday. >> Yep. I sent the letter out back in
030September. Um I emailed um all the entities stating that we needed an answer by November 28th. Mr. Purcell requested an extension and so now um because we have appointees that we have to report on in our meetings on Monday. >> We always appoint January organization. >> Is there a way to just retain who we have? That's up to us >> until the 2 like we revisit it for now for the Monday meeting the two that are currently in place and then we revisit it at the 26th meeting. >> We could Is there a way that the record could push their ordinance their meeting back? Is there anything >> we can just have our two people continue until we report? >> That's what I Mrs. Ba just attend >> the rec board meeting as a patron.
031>> It's open to everyone. So if you could just attend it and then >> What time is it? >> Um 5 o'clock. I have to be in Concord for the EW. I'm gonna say it wrong. Ewcr. Thank you. I knew I was gonna say it wrong. At 5:30. >> Okay. >> So, we could go. >> So, we have our original to attend that meeting as our representatives and then >> then we can talk about that. >> Is that okay? >> Okay. So, do you want to amend a to um make a motion to approve those two for January through January 31st of 2026? >> Yes, I'll amend that as said. So, they would continue to till the next board meeting if I could speak to this. So, who who you guys appoint is neither here
032nor there to me. The only issue is we've had a lot of turnover over the last few years. So at our meeting we have to appoint a chairperson, a vice chair person and treasurer. Um the goal this year was to avoid having changes and stuff like that. So not having >> Did you ask the township about that? They were the ones that need to change. We're not making any changes right now and all three would have experience and we know there would be continuity there. >> Um >> so we we can talk about this. We'll we'll talk about it after the meeting. to and figure out the best way. But I think for right now that that keeps the continuity with having those two in. Mrs. Grega also would keep continuity with that. So I
033don't think that that really waiting would really affect that in any way. >> You want to appoint >> we have to appoint a chair person, a vice chair person. So if right now if it's Ashley and is it Zach and one of them are appointed and you take one of those off now we're having to re replace a chairperson or a vice chair person. >> Yeah. For like a month. Yeah. That would be the situation that we're in right now. >> I very much enjoyed being on the board and supporting Elias and the red staff as the vice president. So I would prefer to continue in that role. I did not know it was going to be ended um and was given no notice. So I would prefer um to stay in it if possible.
034Okay. >> We will have an answer at the next board meeting after we consult or we'll have more discussion at the next board meeting and come to a conclusion after we have some time to discuss with legal counsel. >> Is there a motion to I made the motion? Yeah. Is there >> we need to do the other committee >> the other ones? Yes. But we need to vote on tableabling it first. Correct. Are we tableling it or are we a we're just a >> All right. >> So, no I mean could we just also just vote? But if you want >> I mean I mean there's three people on there's three people up then you just vote and I mean if everyone's comfortable with putting someone from the schoolboard back on it um you know
035we want to go or if you want to just ask legal counsel again just to clarify just to be sure that's fine too but you know I just you know making things as smooth as possible for everybody probably. Yeah, I wasn't around with these guys in this role when you made that switch. So, it might be advisable to let's talk with legal, make sure that we're okay. So, that way we're not finding somebody then bringing somebody back in. It might >> I think that'd be more disruptive than waiting one month making the decision, but we could vote on whatever. >> Sounds like we're tailing it. So, we just table it. >> It's a few weeks. Well, we can vote to we're going to vote to amend the motion and then if that doesn't happen, then
036we can move on from there to the next step. So once that comes through, so we're going to just amend it to say that we're appointing Zach and Ashley through January 26, 2026. Well, I hate to amend it again, but for the sake of being consistent so that we have some consistency, we just appointed Zach, right? >> What this summer? >> Uh, >> October. >> So, I mean, I almost feel like, >> should we keep some consistency for now? I would also like to have that discussion because I don't feel like it was >> I don't feel like you felt good with having it come to you without any discussion with you ahead of time. And I feel like that if we were going to move in that direction, I think it would be more
037courteous to have that discussion with Zach before we voted or Ashley or whoever we would choose to change. I feel like that would be appropriate to have that discussion ahead of time with them. >> That's true. Our goal is to keep consistency on that record and we had a revolving door for a while >> and that was my goal to stay because of that because like Goliath said it's critically important that you have people who know instead of every year trying to reinvent the wheel of where do I go, who do I go to because it just puts more work on everybody which is not at all what we want when we're trying to create successful programs for our kids and that sense of community that so many people need right now. So that's kind
038of my poll to stay looking at the other committees. That's why I would prefer to stay there. >> Yeah. Is that that's usually that's separated out, isn't it? >> No. Usually Well, >> we took it out of our stuff because we were always appointing the pets. >> I think it was pulled out because when we stopped appointing board members for it, >> it's been pulled out as long as I've been on board. >> Yeah. I think when we when we >> So, yeah. So, it's been >> How many of us have served? Three. >> Yeah. But it was only part of the time. I think during my >> changed. Yeah. That's when it changed when I was on it. I'm like, "Okay, I'll come on." >> I think there have been at least five appointees
039to years. >> And when I was removed the information that Bob Dawson related to me via phone call was that I could support I could serve as a schoolboard representative because I was on the school board even though I'm still a township resident. I have not moved. >> That is legal. >> Sure. >> Yes. >> All right. Are there other committees that anyone would like to be part of? I'd like to stay on the ones I'm on. >> Yeah, I'm good with ones I'm on. >> I think we need to know if Andy Roberts is staying on the business advisory council or not >> because because he left mid year as a board member. >> Has he been to any of the business advisor this year? >> He's been one since I've been >> and
040we need a board member, right? >> Yeah, we Yeah, I would say I would like to take that. I wanted to but the other piece to that was on here should be Frell Matt Frell. >> Yes. >> Or was he not because he's not a reg he's don't we appoint two people to that or not or just one board member? >> We do two people but one has to be a board member I believe and then Matt Ferrell with the other one. >> Okay. Matt Ferrell has attended this fall. >> Yeah. And we appointed him though. I think it's just important to note that on here he's one of the people that we appointed. So we list uh Foley and Ferrell then as the 20 six representatives >> if everybody I mean yeah that's up
041to us to decide everybody else stays together in the old >> I'm good with that >> Todd doesn't want fully si I said there's enough >> she said yeah >> we're going to change it to violent Does anyone else have a preference to any of the committees? Jennifer, you're new. So, you come in not on any committees, which is a difficult position to be in. So, is there anyone that >> The only thing I have a question is when they'd meet because I know some are early in the morning or if I work. >> Yeah, there's not a set time typically. Typically, it works. We can we can coordinate with whoever's on the committee schedules and it's flexible. Um, >> I knew the safety one was the >> safety might be a hard one. Safety
042and government are the two that are set outside of us that we don't have any say in. I believe >> you both want to stay on safety. >> I do. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Tippy's trying to get back. >> Is that because of the donuts? >> It is. I remember the donuts. >> So, it's fine. >> That's not why I never donuts. >> Um, look here. >> Yeah, >> we also were going to talk about whether or not we needed some of these committees where we were changing anything. This is just what we had. >> We also had a PAC >> Yeah. >> committee that we picked up last year. >> Yeah. Because we were talking about all the >> because it's a separate facility and there was just so many things that took
043place over there and there was some things that were changing and pretty significant with redoing the weight room and all the things going on. So, we had a brief one-year committee. It was brief. >> Yeah. >> So, are there other If there's one either instruction or wellness, whichever one I would support, Kathleen as the second one, Nikki, if there's one that you didn't want to >> Which one do you like? >> Oh, I would do either one. I think they're both right up my alley. So, whichever one you have a preference on. >> Um, I like instruction if that's okay. >> Sure. I'll do one this time. And I still like government affairs. If anyone doesn't mind being on that one, >> are you still want to be on economic development council? >> Um yeah,
044I'm fine. I'm fine staying on that if nobody else wants to. Um the so government affairs from my understanding I don't if there's anybody in here that's a historian on this >> but it wasn't really a board appointed there wasn't really a official group it was just government officials from Perry got together to kind of update each other on what was going on doesn't have to be formalized I don't know does anybody here have any >> the government meetings Yeah, but those were just >> they're just they're open to all >> together casually to say, "Hey, here's what's going on in our neck of the woods." >> Yep. >> So, we could >> be flexible with that, too, and see who's available when it happens. As long as there's only two of us at any
045meeting, we can always decide. So, we can take that off of here and not have it be a >> named. >> Well, as long as we have I think it's important to have a point of contact to make sure we keep up with it because I also think there was a rotation of where the meetings were held. >> Okay. I think consistency at least with one person would probably be good. >> I like being on that one. >> I just don't know if it has to be a board appointed to be an official is it an official committee that we're appointing to? I don't know. >> So, it's not it's just um a meeting that we put together um in general. The only thing official is who's hosting it every single year. Okay. >> And
046that's the rotation. But as far as who you guys send >> um is up to Right. >> All right. So, let's just keep that as with the two of us and then if if anyone wants or if there's any schedule conflicts, we'll reach out. But as it stands, as long as there's two people that are consistently knowing that we're going and then we can be flexible beyond that. Does that work for everyone? >> And then the audit finance committee, Mr. Roberts, is no longer here. So, is there anyone that really wants to be on the audit and finance committee? I like the finances, but I'm on a few committees, so I don't want to take over everything. So, >> it's the funnest committee. You >> I really do like school funding now progress. >> Okay.
047>> So, Mrs. Foley and Mrs. There's nothing more interesting than school finances. >> All right. So we have for audit finance committee Mrs. Foley and Mrs. Gregor business advisory council Mr. Ferrell Mrs. Foley instruction committee uh Mrs. Culie and myself wellness committee Mrs. Culie and Mrs. Gregor economic development council Mrs. Foley, government affairs representatives, not necessarily committee, Trevker and Foley, safety committee, Steely and Lek, and distinguished alumni hall of fame committee. Leic and Foley, are you still both? >> I'm not really sure about that either. >> Okay. >> So, that would meet every other year. Now, this spring will be selection of the class of 2026. So, there will be one meeting um that Mr. Nziki will run with. It's made up of a variety of stakeholders across the community to select distinguish my hall
048of fame. >> Okay. >> Anybody want to take that? >> I'm already on. I can't take >> I'll join Jesse. >> Okay. And I don't mind wellness, but if someone else wanted to change it up, >> it's still separate in terms of how we're handling it internally for a while. While this instruction was running, is it still separate? >> Still separate. We There's so much crossover. We always end up questioning about the same thing, but there is >> there's definitely ton of crossover. We did we met once last year with TJ and sort of reincorporated that pack just for updates probably do that once or twice a year but other than that there's a lot of crossover that's the one thing that sort of separate the panorama to sit separate but everything else there's a
049lot of you guys tell us what what makes sense does anybody think that we should have you know if you look at other districts we look to see what other typ committ people have some people have a facilities and buildings and grounds maybe because they're building or constructing something so they have a committee that specifically looks at that or we also have a lot of property and a lot of buildings and a lot of responsibility and a lot of maintenance doesn't make sense for us to have something that checks in on that >> Mr. Smith will love quarterly meetings for building. >> He I was just going to say he incorporates a lot of the building stuff into the safety. >> I almost think maybe then that's that that dual principle the dual purpose that
050maybe there needs to be more of the piece about the all the buildings and facilities and stuff like that. >> Yeah. I mean with the aging nature of our building, it probably won't hurt to have a buildings round >> with quarterly meetings to look at There's a lot of, you know, things that are happening on this campus with the physical buildings. >> Yeah. I mean, we rent out space to other activities and providers. So, I think it's I think it's something that we should talk about more frequently. In my opinion, it's just me. >> So, building new grounds committee. >> I don't know. What do you guys think? Should it be part of safety and as an like kind of a dual purpose of safety and covered buildings and grounds too or >> I think
051that there's certainly enough probably to separate it out if we wanted to. And I think that it's nice and we remember that these committees we're not making decisions in any of these committees. They're just strictly like so that we're informed and we can come back and keep the rest of the board informed. Um but I think that it's good to be informed as to what is going on and there's a lot I learned this year. There's a lot of things that go on. Um, so if anyone's interested in I think it's a good idea. Does anyone have an objection to it? >> I mean, I'm think we were on board with continuing and the committee just went poof. >> Um, so >> it was pack specific. >> Yes, >> this will encompass everything. >> Let's
052get crazy. >> Yeah. So, who wants to be on that? The buildings and crowds committee. I will. >> Okay, that was an easy one. >> So, who are going to be the district people? Would Mindy be part of that? >> Is it a combo of >> Well, Mr. Smith for sure. >> He's going to love it. >> He could like be part of that conversation as well. >> Probably Mr. Rockwell. >> Yeah. And maybe Mrs. >> Not really, but >> I'll go on it with a perspective. >> Oh, >> you were No, that's not >> I just thought it was one person. You own it. >> No, I'm good. >> You get a donut there. >> You're on it. >> Yes. >> Okay. And then >> So then we'll keep the wellness and instruction separate
053unless anyone has an objection to that. I feel like there's enough information in either of those committees to keep us and that would keep us from having four meetings. Okay. Um is there a motion to approve everything except for well and the amended item A and the remaining? And to clarify what we're amending, we're just speaking with council, getting some more information, and then we'll vote for the next meeting. >> Yes, this is just to continue it for one more month. >> We have another another board being acceptable. >> Correct. >> So, a couple weeks. >> Okay. Um, so is there a motion? Is there a second? >> Second. >> Roll call, please. Mley. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Greger. >> Yes. >> Mr. Leic. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Mr. Yes. >> Yes. >> Is there
054a motion to adjourn the organizational meeting? >> So move >> that was a second. >> I did take it as second. >> Should we second it? >> I did. Yes. Sorry. I'm sorry. >> Um roll call, please. Mrs. Draga. >> Yes. >> Mr. Le. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Ter. >> Yes. Mrs. Yes. >> Mrs. >> Yes. >> So, the meeting is adjourned at 6:27 p.m. And we will move on. Does anyone need a break? >> Okay. We will move on to the regular board of education meeting. The regular meeting of the board of education of care local school district is called to order at 6:27 p.m. in Harvard Center Conference. Roll call, please. Mrs. >> Here. Mrs. Fuller. >> Yes. Mrs. Greger. >> Yes. >> Mr. Light >> here. Most here. Are there any committee
055report? Not yet because I have been a personate >> very much. All right, let's start off. I just want to say thank you to all of our students and staff. It was a great first semester. Um, every month I give updates on all the accomplishments and, um, I was never short of accomplishments that we're able to highlight for our students and our staff. So, uh, it's been a great first four or five months of the school year and, uh, and that comes a lot from our staff that come here every day and support our kids and keep, uh, their mind right to help our kids achieve at a high level. So, we're really thankful for the first semester, uh, that we've had and the opportunities have been created for our students. Um, sec as we
056turn the page on the second semester, uh, I will start off my journey of meeting with a variety of stakeholders along with Mrs. Mannis, Mr. Kellogg as we try to create a shared vision and really get some insight on what people want for what they think we do well, where we could get better, and then as we look to what the needs are for our students, um what that's going to look like for the next three to five years. Um and then my plan would be to go through this cycle every several years to stay fresh and stay in touch with our community and our stakeholders. Um, and when I say stakeholders, we're specifically meeting with all staff and different department groups, students, and we'll have a community night. Um, where I will, uh, lead
057lead us through different discussions and try to gain as much ini information and insight as possible. Um, so we're looking forward to that. Um, and then we will turn the page here soon on preparing for next school year with staffing and budgeting. Um we you'll see later in tonight's den of agenda. Darcy Murphy is on there. Leavic uh she's our IT director. She's retiring as well. So I think we're now up to eight people um that will be retiring at the end of this school year or at some point between now the end of the school year. So we have a lot of work to do on that staffing front as we uh look to next year. Also, uh you'll see on tonight's agenda on my recommendation is the registration guide for Perry High School.
058Special thanks to Scott and his team. Um that's never a small task of looking through, working with all the teacher leaders and really getting that up to date, making sure that we're in a good place there. Um you'll see the middle school registration guides not on there, but we will have that for a February meeting and we split that up this year. the high school really needs to get going because of uh registration night and just starting the process. Uh and that process is usually a little bit bigger at the at the high school. That's why that's on tonight's agenda. Um also, Pin City was a success once again. Um congratulations to wrestling team. They took second place overall as a team. Um our individual champions included Antonio Sperton, Cooper Schlaw, Landon Rusnik, and Trent
059Taylor. So congratul congratulations to the team and those individuals. Uh always a great event and wellrun. Special thanks to the the coaching staff and the many volunteers that help make that um event a success each and every year. Um and then my second to last thing that I have is January is board member appreciation month. So I do have certificates. Um it's it's a position that um it often takes a lot of time, a lot of phone calls, a lot of questions, um and a lot of support and guidance that I appreciate um and and representing our community, helping set the vision for what what we want for our kids. And I I truly appreciate the alignment that we have with this board and keeping students at the center of decisions that are made and
060and trying to uh look at all students and and what's best for this uh community and our kids that um attend school here. So I thank you for um your some of you many years of service and here's a certificate from OSBA. >> Thank you. AND THEN I'm going to turn it over here to Mrs. Cable for a little update. You'll see on my superintendent report, we have um different personnel moves and and they fall a lot into Mrs. Cable's arena there. So, we'll give you a little update here. >> Yes. Um, as you mentioned, we are going to be recommending the board hire Elizabeth Wheeler tonight as our new central office um, receptionist and infinite campus support specialist. Um, that position uh, the front office position has been held by Mrs. Tylenara for the
061last 14 years and she has done an outstanding job as both our central office receptionist and our accounts payable accounts receivable specialist. Um, but last month we had Patty Lark, our lift shared services fiscal clerk, retire, leaving us with a vacant that needs to be fixed that needs to be filled. And Mrs. Zedaro is the obvious choice to fill that vacancy as she's already wellversed in all of the um systems and procedures that are used by both Perry and Whitliff for accounts payable, accounts receivable. Um and also by appointing her to that position instead of hiring a full-time fiscal um clerk for Wickliff is going to allow us to um increase the savings that we're able to provide for both districts um for more efficient shared service arrangement. Uh this new role though does require
062that Mrs. Daro be in at least once a week and so she can no longer be assigned to the front desk here in Perry and thus the need to hire Miss Wheeler. Um but we're not just using Miss Wheeler to fill that receptionist position. We've also identified some upcoming needs in our IT and um data department. Um several key staff um whom we rely heavily upon for the collection, reporting and analyzation of our district data are set to retire um between now and and five years from now. So in the next five years, we're going to lose a lot of that um knowledge. those positions all involve highly specialized responsibilities that cannot be um effectively transitioned in a short time. Right? So, we need to start planning for these retirements. Now, Miss Wheeler is that
063first step in the process. She's going to be working closely with Mrs. Robin Nton, our miss coordinator, to develop um an expertise in Infinite Campus. in her new role. She will be the um primary day-to-day support for both our staff and our parents for campus all while developing um a very strong foundation of our district status systems. Um and this should position her to um to potentially transition into an ink coordination role or some other data related role as these future um retirements occur. So um essentially what we are proposing is a small change in central office staffing now that would have no um increased cost to the district but would position us for um continued success in the future. >> Any questions? >> I just know how critical of a role he is for
064districts because obviously that reporting is what >> either brings your dollars in or you have errors and you don't want errors. So I appreciate that role very much and I'm I'm thinking it's important you're taking the value that you are in that role. >> Yes. I think some districts underestimate the importance of but >> and we're fortunate a variety of our positions that deal in that data world of having some high quality people that are are leaders within our region and Jen and I spent a lot of time looking to the future and having those conversations about okay how do we continue the success that this place has had for a lot of decades and a lot of it's sometimes it's behind the scenes work but it's vital work that these people are doing and
065this concludes by administrative update. >> Thank you, Mr. Porcel and Mr. Keel. >> Is there any public participation? >> Is there a motion to approve the consent agenda? >> Second. Roll call, please. Mrs. >> Yes. >> Mrs. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Mrs. >> Yes. >> Mr. Mr. Porcel, superintendent support. >> Thank you very much. Uh item A, personnel approval of appointment. The board has asked to approve the appointment of Elizabeth Wheeler as a central office receptionist and infinite campus support effective January 7, 2026 with a 60-day probationary period at step three of the exempt salary schedule 2A as recommended by the local superintendent and chief financial officer. Item B, approval of stipen. The board is asked to approve the statement noted for the employees listed as recommended by the local superintendent
066and the chief financial officer. Item C, approval of the 2627 PHS registration guide. The board has asked to approve the PHS 2627 registration guide as recommended by the local superintendent building principal and director of innovation and this concludes my superintendent report. >> Thank you, Mr. Pero. Is there a motion to approve? >> Second. Any discussion? >> When will we see the PMS um registered meeting? >> Is that when we normally approve these? >> No, it's just with the meeting, not till the next meeting, not till 26. We used to be like around that January 15th, 20th, which helps with registration night. Uh it's just with the awkward beginning and end. That's why we push this one a little bit forward. >> February with me or not? >> The February one or the PHS one? >>
067No. PHS. We're good to go here. >> Yeah. >> I was just asking because the 26th of this month. >> Yeah, we could probably get it by >> I didn't know when it would be >> if we're, you know, we're with sessions, we'll try to we'll try to keep it for the most urgent items for most action on that second Monday. And it's always interesting when the registration guides come out because you really dig into them and take a good look at them at all the different programs that we offer our kids. I think it's really interesting and unique to see for such a small district how many opportunities our kids have in so many different areas. And it's not always reflected when you look at accomplishments and achievements and things like that. But it's
068it's something that I think I'm grateful for and I think that I appreciate the work that goes into giving kids those opportunities from our administration and teachers. Um, is there any other discussion? >> Roll call, please. >> Mrs. Greger. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Yes. >> Mrs. >> Yes. Mrs. >> Yes. >> And Mr. Addendum? >> Yes. Thank you. Um, on the superintendent report, item A, personnel acceptance of retirement. The board is asked to accept the retirement of an individual listed for the position voted as recommended by the local superintendent. And item B, approval of resolutions, ELCCCC 2026. The board is asked to approve the resolutions listed recognizing Eastern Lake County Chamber of Commerce 2026 business of the year award to the Beacon Award recipients as recommended by our local superintendent on
069January 15th to present those. >> Is there a motion to approve the superintendent report? Second. Any discussion? Roll call, please. Oh, sorry. >> No, we're good. Go ahead. Go ahead. >> Roll call, please. Mrs. >> Yes. Mrs. >> Did you say me? >> Mr. Greger. >> Yes. >> Mr. Le. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Yes. Mrs. Ko chief financial offic. Acceptance of grant funds community foundation family foundation. The board is asked to accept the Starks Community Foundation user family foundation grant in the amount of $1,000 and to approve the appropriations for such grant to be placed in fund 09 special cost center 925E as recommended by the chief financial officer. This grant was awarded in Mrs. Darnell's PE service learning through design class. B approval of expenditure gardener service company. The board is asked to approve
070an expenditure in the annual amount of $39,852 to Gardener Service Company for a service agreement on HVAC water chillers and scheduled maintenance for tracer system 100 building automation panels as recommended by the director of maintenance and operations and the chief financial officer. And this concludes my CFO report. Is there a motion to approve? So >> move second. >> Any discussion? Roll call, please. Mr. Lighty, >> yes. >> Mrs. Yes. Mrs. >> Yes. >> Mrs. >> Yes. Mrs. >> Yes. >> Is there any unfinished business? session. >> Um, any new business, correspondence and announcements? There will be no classes held on January 19th, 2026 for Martin day. The next board of education meeting will be January 26th at 5:45 p.m. in the public center conference room. Is there any public participation? I move that the board
071adjourn to executive session for the purpose of considering the employment one >> the employment dismissal disciplined a motion of a public employee or public official of the school district. Is there What we Okay, I'm sorry. I'm thinking for a second. Is there a motion or is there a second? >> Roll call, please. >> Mrs. Trevker, >> yes. Mrs. Solley, >> yes. Mrs. Foley, >> yes. Mrs. Drager, >> yes. Mr. >> Yes. >> We don't expect any further action after executive session.
