degrees from Clayton State University Aaron Anderson Raoul Avila Orozco Triana divos Franken Timman and timotheus Lane [Applause] to meet the eslate thank you again please give the graduating class of 2019 a round of applause these students have excelled wonderfully this year we will now have the salutatorian address by Aaron Anderson followed by the valedictorian address by Raoul Avila Orozco [Applause] [Music] [Applause] good afternoon fellow graduates parents and family and miles Lyons faculty and staff my name is Aaron Anderson and today I have the incredible honor of speaking to you all about what lies ahead for us and how I became here salutatorian I had a brief thought in middle school of what high school would be like the endless clubs to choose from all the sports I'd play and I knew early on that I

wanted to be remembered for my academic achievements that's the first time valedictorian really occurred through my head for the first time ever I knew I wasn't going to be satisfied with class president or anything where you had to be elected by a popular vote to serve the merit and prestige I wanted associated with my name had to be earned and I was going to try and earn it however as we can see I didn't quite reach that goal but nonetheless I landed amongst the stars I already knew starting freshman year of high school that in order to accomplish my goal I had to keep all all AI rich are all four years I knew that I could do it because I had done it before but I was also we're aware of the many geniuses

I had four classmates my motivators my friends my competition all wrapped up and run they are extremely intelligent and equally as hardworking so I knew this would be a tough race however even through all of the endless loads of homework piled up by the teachers who thought we only had their one class and not six other teachers similarly thinking the same thing through all of the know there all of the late nights staying up to one or two in the morning completing assignments that were due the day of even though it was more than often my fault for procrastinating so much and finally through all of the exhausting and strenuous after-school practices I kept my grades my number one priority getting a beat wasn't an option for me because I was conditioned by my parents

that anything less than that a was insufficient some people might think that that's too high of an expectation for someone to get all A's all the time every single semester while continuously jumping from sports season to sport season but I'm not just anyone grades were a serious matter in my family and not only did I wanted to make my parents proud but I wanted to confirm for myself that this isn't wasting energy that all these grades meant something and that they convey something about my work ethic my tenacity and my character compared to college my first two years of high school were relatively easy I always mean Shanghai aids except for one or two classes I might have slipped up on the lower side of a but honestly as a and although when I started

doing enrollment classes at Clayton State keeping the same energy was more difficult you see in college the atmosphere is way lighter and less tense because the professors are about their business and their business is teaching no one is begging you to pay attention in class no one is picking over your shoulder and begging you to complete assignments and no one is begging you to show up for class that's just the reality of college and it's just like when we tell the freshmen don't play around your first year do what you need to do so you're not struggling to get enough credit credits to graduate your senior year it's the same mentality go to college and handle your business I mix even though it was already announced I'm excited to say that I handled mine and

I graduated Clayton State with an associates in science but I already know my fellow classmates are well prepared for college if they if and when they choose to attend in these final moments of my speech I'd like to give a tribute to my parents for their tough love especially my dad because if any of my siblings and I had a bad grade we had to come see him about it and I would like to thank him also for being my personal chauffeur for most of my life and attending all of my meats and games with the iPad ready to record more often than done if you see me at any events my dad wasn't too far behind me I'd like to thank my counselors for notifying me about the opportunity to do dual enrollment early

on mr. MacBride my and everyone else's favorite teacher for teaching me how to use my brain and write properly but most importantly for believing in me past my insecurities and my talkative nature if it weren't forgot my parents and these amazing people I wouldn't be nearly this devoted nor strong nor would I be standing in front of you as your salutatorian set your goals achieve them make your dreams a reality before I say this last farewell sentence I want everyone to know that Demetrius would be very proud of us today and then we will keep his memory live and everything we do we need to do it for him he loved us and his long live meat forever thank you and goodbye class of [Applause] hello good afternoon to everyone my name is Raul liberal

Orozco and I am the valedictorian of the 2019 class of Mount Zion high school I would like to welcome everyone frans family faculty and staff at Mount Zion High School and the Board of Education and other clan county public officials and most importantly US graduates it is with great pride that I can stand here amongst the ranks on my fellow classmates who the majority have been together for over the 4 years it feels like ages have gone by since we started high school back in August of I remember being excited and nervous to start high school and I'm sure many of us have felt this way in the beginning but now high school feels normal it seems unreal to imagine that this time around next year we won't be in high school anymore some of

us had similar similar feelings to years ago when we started attending dual enrollment during our junior year of high school and because of that we attended Mount Zion less often personally I was nervous because I didn't know I did not know how drastic the changes would be but I managed to feel comfortable being in the college classroom with college students I remember almost putting off this opportunity until my senior year because I did not feel ready to move forward however I finally decided to go to claim state after I had accepted the idea that I was more than ready as graduates we should look forward to all the opportunities that we were received in the next few years to come and we should not be afraid to take steps that are necessary for our success

sometimes I wonder how things would have turned out if I had not taken these steps which have led me to where I stand today but I do not dwell on these ideas instead I like to think of all the amazing people that I have met at Mount Zion claim State there are so many people that I wish I could thank individually for being able to stand in their presence because they are going to become great people in our world I wouldn't need ours to talk about all the great people at Mount Zion and all the great things that happened in Milan that being said I want to thank God for having us all here today and for leading us to where we will be in the future I want to thank my parents and family

they have always been my motivation to succeed as a person without their support and advice I wouldn't have be the person that I am today and for that I am eternally grateful for everything and everything that they have and continue to do for me my parents have always told me to prepare to be prepared for the future the only way to prepare for the future is to be educated because education is a gift that allows us to understand our situations and live our best lives I want to thank my teacher Miss McBride for being the best English teacher that I have ever had and for being and for being for one of the most helpful teachers at metals in high school she would always be happy to help any student that came to her whether

it be writing a paper or venting about our problem in life many of us would like to thank her for showing us the path of dual enrollment which helped many of us attend schools like Clayton State University in high school I also want to thank my other teacher Miss Newton for being an amazing engineering teacher who is always pushing her students to do great wherever they are I remember her playing motivational videos and giving advice about what to expect in jobs and of life both miss mcbride and miss Newton are kind-hearted and have always been there to help any student that need their help even if they were not in their class which I am very grateful to there were more teachers that might affect tea at Mount Zion that my classes can think of

and I was like to thank them for their support to my classmates I want to thank all my friends that have known from Tara elementary Jonesboro middle school and males iya high school our friendship a friendships in high school have surely led to the success of each and every one of us my friend Franklin and his parents also deserve a thank-you for all the support that they have provided me everyone all the staff all the teachers and all my classmates have made memories with each other that none of us will ever forget I am not the only one who should be thankful for the knowledge help and friendships that we have gained in high school all of us as graduates to look back at these last four years and thank someone that's left a positive

impact on our lives as a final note I wanted to congratulate us the Mount Zion High School class of 2019 in my eyes as one of the best classes and I wish for the best of luck to everyone wherever life takes them thank you [Applause] [Music] now the presenting of special warrants by myself miss Wallace and miss grant I will be presenting to you the J the AJC cup award the Atlanta journal-constitution Cup started in 1927 over the last 90 years the AJC has awarded the AJC cup to recognize students who have worked hard to obtain a well-rounded education students are nominated based on the following criteria outstanding scholarship outstanding leadership outstanding service to school and community and outstanding overall attitude this award is given to a senior selected as best all-rounded senior from each
