Yeah. And like business meeting of the Revena School District Board of Education meeting. May I have a roll call? >> Mrs. Dennison >> here. >> Mrs. Seaman >> here. >> Mrs. Calhoun >> here. >> Miss Dukes >> here. >> Please [bell] stand and join me in saying the pledge of allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, liberty and justice for all. Let us observe a moment of silence. Are there any additions or corrections to the agenda? >> We have none. May I have a motion to approve the agenda? [bell] >> Mrs. Calhoun, >> yes. >> Mrs. Dennis, >> yes. [bell] >> Dukes, >> yes. >> Mrs. Sean, >> yes. >> Mr. Ruski, >> yes. >> Motion
carried. Recognition of public. 003this is designated in board policy as a time for the public to provide comment, the board of education and the superintendent will not respond to any comment during the meeting. We will however provide a written response to each member of the public who is recognized either by email or the US Postal Service. Next on the agenda is item eight, the treasures update. I was just going to give a little bit of a brief up update and how I'm seeing that maybe these may impact Revena school district. for the first one is House Bill 129 and this um includes all levies are now using the calculator of the 20 mil floor. Well, we're not at the 20 mil floor, so that's not impactful to Revena School District. It is going to be very impactful to a
lot of our surrounding districts. Um, but moving forward, we will kind of look in the next couple years in my next forecast in February, how where are we at the floor and will this impact us and what will be the financial um impact for us. The next one is House Bill 186 and this is an inflation credit cap. So, we're going to have a cap on how much property can grow and that'll be capped at 9%. So, um, as everyone was aware and that last, um, reappraisal, it was a lot of sticker shock for many of our property homeowners in all counties. So, they are capping that at 9%. That'll be in reappraisals and trienium appraisals. So, we will have our trienium in two years. So when I complete my forecast in February, I will
look and see where where we are estimated at for our um uh property um growth and then readjust that for the February um financial forecast. The next one is House Bill 309. This expands the county budget commissioner's authority authority on unnecessary collections. They can reduce levy collection amounts. So this is a little bit vague right now on what does that even mean. I know that in the news we kind of heard about maybe like carryovers of 30%, 40%, 50%. Um there may be meetings with treasurers and with the auditor and commissioner's office on if you're at a certain point what is the plan for the district like plan on using those funds. So right now we're not anywhere near that 40 or 50% even with kind of the fiscal stability that we have but we
will continuous to monitor this. The next one is House Bill 335 and it's very similar to House Bill 186 but yet it's um pertains to inside millillage. So the inside millillage all um cities get 10 mills. We get 4.2 mills of that. The other goes to police, fire, um parks um and and libraries. So that's also going to be capped at a 9% growth. So this is just the first four. We are expecting more to come out in um months and throughout the year. So I will keep giving everyone updated at every month at our board meetings. The next one, and I apologize, you can um I think what you're really only concerned about is really the top part. The bottom just kind of breaks it down on which what all the categories are. So
this is taking um we did our fin financial forecast in September and now um I upload our revenues and expenditures every month and then we look at a comparison like how are we doing with what the re with the financial forecast. So in terms of revenue we're exceeding what we expected in our f fiveyear forecast by 462,000. So we're trending ahead. In terms of expenditures we're um trending less of our expenditures, a little over a million dollars. So that's nice. So what is that doing to our cash balance at the end? We're actually trending higher right now of about 1.5 million. So remember this was done at the end of October. It's already changed in these last two weeks. So I was working on things this um today and last week and we already have
changes. So um we're constantly looking at our forecasts, constantly looking at um our expenditures and our revenues and making sure that we're airfree. If you look at the bottom, and I know it's kind of hard to see, that breaks it down on every part of the financial forecast. Like, so are where are we trending higher in expenditures, where we are trending lower in expenditures and trending higher in revenue. So, our property taxes are coming in a little bit higher and so is our state funding. So, that's where that 462,000's coming from. Our expenditures are being decreased because um we're actually um decreased our salaries and our benefits that was more favorable to the district. So that's where those um are coming from. And that is I' I'd actually like to welcome is that okay Heather.
Heather is our new board member. I just like to which we will be recognized at the January 5th meeting. So welcome Heather. That is my update. Thank you. >> Next item nine, superintendent update. >> Thank you. I just wanted to point out a few things that uh have been happening in the district in the last couple weeks. Um, [clears throat] last Thursday we had uh 122 Revena High School students receive their academic awards here the auditorium. I would have to say it was the busiest or most packed house that I've seen here in a long time. Um, in order to receive an award they have to maintain over 3.0 GPA over the course of one, two or three years in their education. first year academic awards. Um [clears throat] they receive an academic letter and
then in year two they receive a plaque and year three a medal. Um great to see all of our students be honored for for such their hard work. Uh winter sports are in full swing tonight. We have a girls basketball game here against Alliance and then the boys open up at home against Newton Falls on Wednesday evening. [clears throat] Um I wanted to point out Mrs. Fashing's been working extremely hard out at the middle school. Um she started uh some writing lessons to work on um identifying sentences and fragments using content from their reading curriculum. And um that's in both seventh and eighth grade English and language arts classes. Um it's in addition to the reading curriculum that we're doing and we see the importance of how our writing is impacted as well on our
state report card. Also, uh we have the illustrative math which is our new math series this year. We've got some learning specialists that we're partnering with to come and visit in January to see how to properly plan and see how we're doing uh see the fidelity that we are doing with the new uh math materials in the classroom. That'll take place at both middle school and high school starting in January. Then finally, just a reminder, we're on uh Thanksgiving break starting on Thursday. So, we'll be out of school Thursday, Friday, and Monday, and students will return to school on Tuesday, December 2nd. >> Thank you. Reports of the treasurer, item 11. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Reports of the board, item 10. >> Okay. And also for the Revena Parks and Recreation, there's no report this
evening. Next we will have item 11 which is the report to the treasur. >> All righty. So um we have items 11 A1 2 3 and 4. It is a consent agenda. Item 11 A1 is the approval of the October 27 business meeting minutes. Item 11 A2 is the acceptance of gifts and donations. Item 11 A3 are our monthly October financial reports. And item 11 A4 is our approval of then and now payments. >> May I have a motion to approve agenda item 11A numbers 1 through 4? >> So move. >> Second. >> Roll call. >> Mrs. Calhoun. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Dennison. >> Yes. >> Miss Dukes. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Seaman. >> Yes. >> Mr. Wiznooki. >> Yes. >> Motion carried. The next is a single item agenda 11 A5 is the approval
of a resolution to proceed with placing a renewal tax in excess of the 10 mill limitations for the benefit of Reed Memorial Library. Um just for those that weren't here at the last board meeting, um Reed Memorial Library is stated as a school library. Um they're not part of like the Portage County Library system. So whenever they do um any of their levies, we have to kind of sponsor them. This is not impact at all or anything with the Revenous School District levies. We are just basically a pass through for them. >> Okay. May I have a motion to approve agenda item 11A number five? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Roll call. >> Mrs. Calhoun. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Dennison? >> Yes. >> Miss Dukes? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Seaman? >> Yes. >> Mr.
Wiznooki? Yes. >> Motion carried. Next on the agenda is item 12, reports and recommendations of the superintendent and other administrators. >> Thank you. Uh under 11, I'm sorry, 12A1 resolution 2511, it says to approve the authorization of a building closure for the 2627 school year. Um, [clears throat] I'm presenting that the board of education close uh West Main Elementary School at the end of the year for third and fourth grade. Those students would move to a different building where we have room. Um, this is uh to help address anticipated budget shortfalls and anticipated enrollment patterns that we have. Um [clears throat] whereas the proposed third and fourth grade building closure assists in the more efficient use of preventive school district revenues and resources. That would be to implement the closure andor repurpose seller lease at
the end of the school year effective June 30th, 2026. >> I have a motion to approve agenda item 12A number one. >> So moved. >> Second. The first policy drug and alcohol testing of employees without CDL licenses. transport students and alternative vehicles. Um this is a second reading. We did hear about this one at the last meeting. This is just updating um the policy um for van drivers who um may need to be randomly drug tested or at the end of if there's god forbid an accident we they need to be tested as well. Policy 6320 is purchasing and bidding. Miss Pageman, you want to talk about this briefly? >> Yes. So, um this policy 6320 is just being revised um for alignment purposes. So, um instead of saying the 25,000 that is going to be to 75,000 which will align
with the determined and published um values by the Ohio Director of Commerce. So, it's more and less about an alignment just revising that part of the um policy. I have a motion to approve agenda item 12A number three. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Roll call. >> Mrs. Calhoun. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Dennis? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Dukes? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Seaman? >> Yes. >> Mr. Wizooki? >> Yes. >> Motion carried. >> Number four is to approve athletic worker rates for the playoffs if we host any OSA games for any sport.
