Okay, very good. Thank you. Next is our face of the Ravens Award. >> Thank you. Uh each month we recognize staff, students, and community members who have done above and beyond and done great things here at Revena. Uh we call it the face of a Raven Award. Um at this time, we're going to
ask all of our staff, students, and community members to meet over here. Students, you can find your building principal. Um, we're going to recognize the staff first and the community member and then the students after that. Students are going to go across the stage and then um at the end we'll take pictures out in the commons area. And then you're free to stay, but you're also free to leave after the meeting or after the pictures are over. Um, but we're more than willing to have you here to sit through the remainder of this uh meeting. Danny, hold on. Danny, hold on one sec. Okay, good. Mrs. Dennison, the names are on the t-shirts. Okay. All right. Our first uh recognition is for our community member Dan Edwards. He's a volunteer athletic worker. Come on across,
Dan. I've known Dan uh for over 40 years. He's dedicated over 30 years of volunteering. He's operated our football clock for the longest time. Dan just told me he's been retired 18 years. So, his big gig here is uh running our football clock with efficiency. um all the while volunteering and stepping up for our football teams and other teams that when we need him for track or soccer. We are very thankful for Dan's work here at Revena Schools and appreciate all that he's done for us. So, thank you, Mr. Edwards. All right, our next is a staff member, Mrs. Kendra Fashing. She is our director of curriculum and instruction. Mrs. Fashing had two nominations um and I am going to read those at this point in time. She's in her first year uh in this
position changing from a teacher to the director of curriculum. And I think these are pretty amazing write up so I want to read them. Kendra has had an amazing year. She has had very little time to prepare for her new role. yet she jumped right in and hit the ground running. She's been very supportive of our teachers and she is going above and beyond her job description. She provides direct intervention to students. She trains teachers. She provides students with rewards for completing their work. She creates weekly videos to share with staff and students. And she collects, shares, and analyzes student data with us. She's been an amazing asset to central office. and I would personally would not be able to properly manage my building interventions without her. The other person wrote that she makes an
appearance in the building almost every day. She comes into class to help teach, cover classes, help deal with difficult students. She's been planning her own lessons to teach once a week in order to help our students become better writers. Adding to that, she truly listens and does everything in her power to provide resources when to fill whatever needs we request. She is positive and encouraging but also realistic and practical in terms of our feelings and frustrations and what we are working against. I know all of us appreciate it very much and she is willing to work in the trenches alongside us instead of telling us what to do without understanding the hardships we face in the classroom. Her communication is excellent and we feel completely in the loop as to what is going on, what
is expected and what is being planned for the future. So, thank you Mrs. Fashing. Congratulations. Our next staff member is Miss Kim Lloyd. She's our C1 custodian at Brown Middle School. Mrs. Lloyd is new to Brown this year coming over from West Maine and she had three te uh staff recommend her for this prestigious award. Kim is always happy. She works hard. She came in the school this year as the new boss of the building and she's been doing great work um with the crew as a whole. We're happy to have her. Keep up the great work. The other staff members stated that she just started as head custodian this year. She is respectful to her team, kind and a great leader and always willing to listen. She's always great with kids and we are
lucky to have her. And finally, the last staff member wrote that she's such a hard worker, always has a positive attitude, and she is also the first female head custodian at Ravena School District. So, congratulations, Mrs. Lloyd. Thank you for everything you do. And our final staff member is Alexis Matock. She's an intervention specialist at Willard Elementary School with two nominations this year. They wrote that Miss Matock has gone above and beyond this year in the resource room in kindergarten. She has had a challenging group this year, but she continues to lead her class with calm energy. She sets firm but realistic expectations for her students and they are this staff member said they are so impressed with how she has handled this year so far. She's a great asset to kindergarten, the community, and
all of Willard. And the other staff member wrote that she's been doing a great job adapting to the needs of the kindergarten resource room. She's been very flexible and a great team player. She works so hard to ensure all of her students are having a positive experience and get the support they need. Thank you, Mrs. Mayock. Congrats. All right, this is the fun part. Our first student is Ivy Smith from our preschool. Ivy is a joy. She is a leader in our classroom and willing to help the younger students. We all enjoy interacting with Iivevy because she is so happy and positive each day. As we can see right now, Ivy's a perfect example of being respectful, responsible, and in control every day. Great job, Ivy. Good job, Ivy. >> All right, our kindergartenner from
Williard is Brooklyn Wy. Brooklyn is respectful, responsible, and in control. She comes to school each day ready to learn and always does her best work. Brooklyn listens carefully, follows directions, and always tries new things with confidence. She makes our school a happier place by sharing, helping others, and showing respect. Brooklyn is a role model at Willard. Keep up the great work, Brooklyn. All right. Our West Main representative is Mari Vasquez, third grader from West Maine. Mari is the kind of Raven who makes our school a better place every day. She never has to be asked what is what to do. She's never she never has to be asked to do what's expected. She just jumps in and does it. Mari is always responsible, respectful, and in control, showing others what it looks like to make
good choices. She is a kind and caring friend who goes above and beyond to help others. and her positive attitude truly shines. We're proud to recognize Mari as West Main's face of a raven. All right, our middle school representative is Jeremiah Streer, grade six. Jeremiah is on task with his work and is polite and kind. He does what is asked and helps others. and he is very respectful and very responsible. That's what Mrs. Leonard said about you. And Mrs. Cataluchcci said, "Jeremiah is a great student who always is doing what he's supposed to be doing. He's polite, on task, and a hard worker. He does whatever you ask him to do. He's a friend to all and a great and really nice kid. Congrats, Jeremiah. All right. And our representative from Revena High School is
Matthew Cooper. He is a sophomore at Revena High School. Matthew is always helpful, honest, and respectful. He will help others when needed. If there are situations where students are getting out of control in the classroom, he will talk with them and try to get them to make good choices. He is a well-mannered student who teachers enjoy having in class. Matthew is very considerate of the teachers and doing what he can to make our jobs easier. Miss Martin wrote that about you. So, congrats. We're really proud of you, Matthew, our final student from Ravana High School. I also want to thank all the parents and relatives that got out tonight and teachers who came to support. I know that we had a change with snow day yesterday and it was a little difficult to change schedules,
but I really appreciate everyone coming out. We're going to pause for just a few minutes. We're going to go out into the commons area and we'll do some pictures together and then like I said, you're free to stay or free to go after that. Okay. Thank you. All right. Okay. >> Okay. Next on the agenda is item nine, treasures report update. I'm sorry. Treasures update. >> All righty. So, I am going to show Mr. Seekman if you can put that on the screen. Uh for the board members, I did give you your printouts. This is our financial data through November 2025. So basically, I'm just going to review the first um the the top row. So, uh we are $552,810 um exceeding our revenue as predicted in the forecast. So, that's positive. >> Yes. Our
expenditures are 1,13, and wait 10358 um um below what we anticipated in relation to our forecast and our ending cash balance is a little over 1.6 million more favorable. >> Now, this will be changed once I do the February forecast with all the um projected tax reforms. Um, last month I told you that the four passed legislation bills um were all passed and now we're waiting on the governor's signature. So, the governor has two choices. He can either veto which could happen. He can sign it or actually three choices or he can do nothing and if he does nothing it goes in effect as of this Saturday, December 20th. Um, and lastly, I would like to thank um Miss Leticia Dukes. Um this is her last board meeting and we just like to um thank
you for serving the community and the students and it's been a real pleasure working with you. >> Been my pleasure. >> Absolutely. >> Okay. May we have the superintendent update? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Just a couple updates. Uh Brown Middle School hosted their fifth through 8th grade band and choir concert last Thursday night. Was thrilled to be there. It was packed. um people standing in the hallways. It was a really good night. Uh this Thursday, the high school will be performing their band and choir concerts here in our auditorium at 7:30 if you're available. Uh our last day uh before winter break is Friday. So, we'll be off for two full weeks. We return on Monday, January 5th. um once we get back into session, we hope everyone has a nice holiday and is able
to enjoy their families as uh as they should. That's it for today. >> Okay. And I understand um that we do not have any reports of the board from Maplewood or Reana Parks and Recreation. So, moving on. Next on our agenda are the reports of the treasur item 12. >> Uh yes. So, we have a consent agenda. Um, items 12A 1 through 3. 12 A1 is the approval of the November 24th business meeting. 12 A2 is the acceptance of gifts and donations and 12 A3 is our November financial reports. >> Okay. May I have a motion to approve agenda item 12 A 1 through 3? >> So move. >> Second. Roll call. >> Mrs. Calhoun, >> yes. >> Mrs. Dennison, >> yes. >> Ms. Dukes, >> Mrs. Seaman, >> yes. >> Okay. The next um
we have a standalone. It's 12 A4. This is to authorize the treasurer to request collection of tax advances. This is a very common practice that um school district treasurers do every December. This is requesting to our auditors um to have our tax collections um given to us in four Fridays in February as opposed to waiting till March 15th. Um so this is a very common practice that um all districts do every year. >> We have a motion to approve agenda item 12A number four. >> So move second. >> Roll call. >> Mrs. Calhoun. Yes. Mrs. Dennison. Yes. >> Miss Dukes. Yes. >> Mrs. Seaman. >> Yes. Motion carried. >> Okay. The next one is another standalone. 12 A5 is the approval of potential advances. Um you you've probably heard this with um school finances is
always about timing. So we get about 40% of our funding from the state which is very it's twice a month same amount. But with our other 60% it comes in the form of property taxes. So, uh, we only get that in four payments in February and then again in like four payments in September. So, a lot of our operations are timing. So, even though the whole year shakes out positive, there's certain months where um we're a little bit lower on our cash flow and we are now going to be collecting starting in February the emergency levy that we just passed. So, just to make sure that we are um continuing our operations, uh we do have this put in here as the potential advance that if needed, any amount of that will be paid back
at 5.75% interest, but it's against our PI funds. >> Okay. May I have a motion to approve agenda item 12, A number five? >> So, move. >> Second. >> Roll call. >> Mrs. Calhoun? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Dennison? Yes. >> Mrs. Dukes? Yes. >> Mrs. Seaman? >> Yes. >> Motion carried. Okay. The next item is um a standalone item. It's 12 A6. It's the approval of our O8 and 200 budgets. Um our O8s that refers to um kind of like our principal accounts. Um and then our 200s are our uh student activity accounts. So this is just letting the board and the community know which accounts are um active and um at each building. Okay. I have a motion to approve agenda item 12A number six. So move. Second. >> Roll call. >> Mrs. Calhoun.
>> Yes. >> Mrs. Dennison? Yes. >> Miss Dukes? Yes. Mrs. Seaman? >> Yes. >> Motion carried. Next on the agenda is item 13, reports and recommendations of the superintendent and other administrators. >> Thank you. Um under business recommendations A uh one and two. Uh the first is to establish a date for the organizational meeting. I believe we decided on Monday, January 5th as the date for the 2026 organizational meeting. And number two, we need to appoint a president prom. It's customary for the board to appoint one. Um this position would provide leadership for the board beginning on the 1st until a new board president is elected at the organizational meeting on the 5th. Mrs. Dennis, I believe you need to ask for nominations from the board for this position. >> Okay. May I have a
nomination from the board to for someone to serve? >> I nominate Pat Dennison. >> Any other nominations? >> And we don't need a second for that. >> Okay. Okay. So um may I have a motion to approve that agenda item 13A that I I am assigned as the president prom for that time period. >> So move second. >> Roll call. >> Mrs. Calhoun. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Dennison. >> Yes. >> Miss Dukes. Yes. >> Mrs. Seaman. >> Yes. >> Motion carried. Thank you. Number three is a standalone. It's to appoint a trustee to the Reed Memorial Library. Um, since the board of education is charged with the formal approval of the library trustees, um, they are requesting the appointment of Rhonda Johnston to the open trustee position for the term beginning January 1st, 2026 through
December 31st, 2029. >> Okay. May I have a motion to approve agenda item 138 number three? >> So move. >> Second. >> Roll call. >> Mrs. Calhoun. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Dennison. >> Yes. Miss Dukes, yes. >> Mrs. Seaman, >> yes. >> Motion carried. >> Thank you. Number four is to approve a contract agreement. Dr. Simsac, our special ed director, I'm sorry, pupil services, is recommending the board approve the contract agreement between positive education program, which is known as PEP, the Vena School District for the purpose of an additional consultant to meet the educational needs of our students for the remainder of this school year. We already have a contract. This would be for an additional consultant. >> May I have a motion to approve agenda item 13A number four? >> Some moved. >> Second.
>> Roll call. >> Mrs. Calhoun. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Dennis? >> Yes. >> Miss Dukes? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Seaman? >> Yes. >> Motion carried. >> Thank you. Item 14, personnel considerations. items A1, B one and two, C1 and D one, two, three, four and five are all consent agenda. Um number one is to approve the employment of a substitute teacher for the school year. B under supplementals is to approve employment of coaches for the remainder of uh the winter and spring. Number two is to approve the employment of athletic workers as listed. C is to approve volunteers for uh baseball, girls basketball, and boys tennis as listed. And D one is to accept the resignation of a bus aid. Two is to accept the resignation of an educational assistant. Three is to approve changes
to employment of a bus aid. uh we had to add a half an hour to her route. Four is to approve the employment of stipens for CPI, also known as nonvi nonviolent crisis intervention training for any classified STEM staff members that may need that throughout the school year. And number five is to approve employment of substitute employees for van driver, bus aid, and bus driver as listed. >> Okay. May I have a motion to approve consent agenda item 14 A1, B1 and 2, C1, and D1 through 5? >> So moved. Second. >> Roll call. >> Mrs. Calhoun. Yes. >> Mrs. Dennison. >> Yes. >> Miss Dukes. Yes. >> Mrs. Seaman. >> Yes. >> Motion carried. Items. Winter break, no school, December 22nd through January 2nd, 2026. return to school from winter break on Monday, January
the 5th. End of the second nine weeks in first semester. While Thursday, January the 15th, records day, no students on Friday, January the 16th. And Martin Luther King Day, no school on Monday, January the 19th. Um, there's no need for an executive session. So, may I have a motion for the adjournment of our meeting? >> So, moved. Second. >> Roll call. >> Mrs. Calhoun. Yes. >> Mrs. Dennis. >> Yes. >> Miss Dukes. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Seaman. >> Yes. >> Motion carried. Meeting is adjourned. Thank you. Thank you.
