the premed track. It is my honor to introduce our student body president for the class of 2026, Miss Cadence Carlson. [applause] [cheering] >> Good morning, Eagles. Congratulations. We made it. Today, we aren't together just to receive a diploma, but to celebrate how far we have come. Though this is our high school graduation, it really signifies our entire educational journey. It's crazy to think that only 12 years ago today, we were just completing our first year of school. And this moment was unimaginable. This moment we are in right now will be one we remember for the rest of our lives. And after today, we will turn the page and begin our next chapter. Not just taking with us the memories from senior year, but the memories from all 12 years of school. From the first time

you learned to stand in line to figuring out how to mute yourself on a Zoom call, we have learned so much. Think about the time you talked to a stranger you can now call a friend. Your first game or competition with your team. Or the first time a teacher encouraged you to pursue which you're passionate about. Those are the things that make school so special. Pine Creek is more than just four walls in a bunch of classrooms. It is defined by those people within it and the connections that we have all made with each other these past four years. Sure, we may have had to fight for our lives to get out of the parking lot, and we've all found ourselves trying to avoid eye contact when we realize we forgot our school ID, but

at the end of the day, the memories we carry with us are forged around the connections with our friends and teachers. For me, my fondest memories come when I think of the volume of cheers at football games, racing beside my best friends in the pool, or finally earning the sophistication point in Miss Babbot's AP Lank. The truth is our education had meaning deeper than just homework assignments and lockdown browser. Its foundation really begins with our educators, our staff, and our admin. Our lives have been shaped by those educators who redefine what it means to be driven, passionate, and who truly encourage a love for learning. Those are the kind of educators that we have here at Pine Creek. No matter what your interests are or what path you are choosing to take after high school,

I know we all have at least one teacher to thank. With that, this is where the thank yous begin. And the biggest one of all goes to our teachers at Pine Creek. Take a second to think of your teacher. The one whose room became a safe space. The one whose class taught you to engage in the things you love. And the one who managed to convince yourself of your own potential. Not just as a student, but as a human. To the teachers, I speak for all of us seniors when I say how grateful I am for your grace this past semester. You helped us stay on track even when the only thing we were focused on was this very ceremony. And you've shaped our final moments as high schoolers. We've learned so much from the

examples you've set, showing us the value of traits like respect and kindness in our everyday actions. You've modeled what it means to be a lifelong learner. And more than that, you've modeled what it means to be a genuinely good person. As to our staff, thank you for being the other unsung heroes that we could not function without. Everyone plays a huge role in making Pine Creek great, and you all aren't appreciated enough. Thank you to security for keeping us safe so that we can learn and always making us laugh when we walk in and out of school. Another big thank you to our custodians for working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our hallways and classrooms clean. Please know how appreciated you are and please know how grateful we are to have you. As seniors,

we also can't forget to shout out the attendance office for being here to call us out for all those family situations in the past month or so. Now, it would be silly to stand up here and speak without thanking the leaders responsible for running Pine Creek High School. To our admin, you are the backbone of this school and you make everything that we hope to achieve possible. Your diligence and dedication to this school are unmatched and it speaks volumes. We truly appreciate the countless hours, the honest conversations, and the spirit you've brought to Pine Creek. The lifelong memories we've made here are thanks to you and your support. Finally, I want to extend our utmost gratitude to Miss Cornelio and Miss Macintosh. It goes without saying that the course of our educational journeys was set

in place thanks to their guidance. Miss Macintosh has been with us since the very beginning and has continued with us every step of the way. and we could not have asked for a better role model. Her authenticity taught us to be genuine, to chase what we love, and to let passion fuel us. Miss Cornelio, besides single-handedly changing futures for those of us heading to college, jobs, careers, missions, and other post-graduate plans, taught us that the most important thing of all, above test scores, above classes, is your character. These lessons we've learned from our counselors could not be replicated by anyone else, and they will follow us for the rest of our lives. As we go on to do great things, we will be reminded that a strong support system like the one they created for

us will always give us a safe space to fall back on in times of doubt. Now, to wrap this all up, we have one more thank you, and this one is especially important. Thank you to the friends and classmates sitting here today. We started this journey together as nervous freshmen, but the memories we've made over the past four years have transformed us into the people we are today. You all make going to school easier, and you all are the reason for the community that was created in each and every classroom. So, thank you, the class of 2026. I feel so lucky to be graduating alongside some of the most exceptional people I know, many of which I can call my best friends. We've all accomplished so much and I hope everyone here is as proud

of themselves and of each other as I am. So, as we go on to this next chapter of our lives, I hope you all remember two things. Everything will work out exactly as it's supposed to. And during this next year of our lives, although it may feel intimidating, we will always have each other to come back to. So, here's to us, class of 2026. Thank you. [applause] Now, please welcome Mr. Dan Hinken, who will highlight the remarkable accomplishments of the class of 2026. [applause] Each year, the student address is given by a senior selected through a tryyout process. Our student speaker for the class of 2026 is Adel Buyers. Adel Shan Buyers loved serving Pine Creek as executive vice president of public relations for student council and as co-president of the National Honor Society during her senior year. Throughout her high school, Adele enjoyed being involved with young life and wildlife. Adele is very proud to say her nephew said her name first, declaring her the favorite aunt. Adele would like to thank Miss Babbot, Mr. and Mrs. Saunders, Mrs.

She's incredibly grateful for the love she has experienced throughout high school and for her opportunity to share that love with those around her. It is my distinct honor to introduce to you our student speaker for the class of 2026, Miss Adiel Buyers. [cheering] [applause] >> Dear Eagles, the day we have waited so long for is finally here. We sit here, soon to be graduates, walking to the next chapter of our lives. We started off as eager freshman walking around the hallways with our Creek Connectors. We

made it through the sophomore slump and overcame the chaos of junior year. And more than that, we took the steps to reach our next goals in life. Higher education, serving in the military, missions, and so much more. We are here today to recognize our accomplishments and celebrate our time as Eagles. Whatever we may do, whatever we may become, wherever we go, once an eagle, >> always. >> One of the most common words and experiences of our senior year was last. We had our last homecoming, our last prom, our last late night out with friends, our last first period class, our last excused tardies, and still for some of us, our last AP exams. But more importantly, we also experience the most beginnings. A beginning of appreciating the things your past self looked over. A beginning

of realizing who you are and what you hope to be is coming to fruition. A beginning of understanding that nothing really lasts forever. A beginning of learning that you will always end up where you need to be. a beginning of knowing that the most powerful thing you can hold on to is memories and that you have the power to make them. Senior year was chasing early deadlines and the perfect words to set your Common App essays apart. It was camping out with Mrs. Cornelio and finding out that you need to describe your top 10 activities in 50 words or less for each. It was asking your parents to read over your essays and hold your hand when you open the portal to your college applications because you were just so nervous. Senior year was going

all out for themes on game nights, cheering your heart out, and finally standing at the bottom of the bleachers. Senior year was having so much fun in the moment that you didn't realize you were making memories. It was realizing that you would likely never be reminded outside of Mr. Hog's class that Manchester City will be playing this Sunday. That one day you would actually missproofing triangles with our wonderful teacher of the year, Mrs. Saunders. That when Mr. Gracia said you would soon be living in the quote unquote adult world, it's not as far as it used to seem. and that somehow you yourself would be saying it behoove you just like Mrs. Babbot did and that eventually Mac wouldn't be the class of 2026's counselor but now the class of 2030s. Senior year was filled

with beautiful moments, memories that will last a lifetime and friendships that bring a smile to your face and a sparkle to your eyes. And most importantly, it taught the greatest lessons that we are the sum of those we love and who love us. That we have yet to meet all of those who will love us or who we will love. That we have yet to make all of our favorite memories and live all of our favorite days. And as the great Winnie the Pooh says, "How lucky am I to have something so special that makes saying goodbye so hard?" The greatest truth I've come to know is that if saying goodbye is hard, if there are sweet memories you will hold on to, and if there are monumental moments that have changed you for the

better, then you have loved well. So, thank you for making this goodbye so hard. And to all the parents in the audience who are our late night study partners, our personal money trees, and our biggest cheerleaders, thank you for holding our hand throughout every moment and now finally letting go. To all the Pine Creek staff, Eagles, family, and friends, thank you for giving us sweet memories. Thank you for changing us for the better. because this is one of the hardest goodbyes I have ever made. As you begin your new journeys, love those around you deeply. Hold tight onto the memories you've made and embrace the difficult goodbyes. Because if the goodbyes are difficult like the ones today, it means that you have loved well and have been loved deeply. So goodbye class of 2026. Thank

you for the memories. Yours truly, Adel Shawn Buyers. [applause] And now please welcome Fusion performing the song Viva La Vita by Cold Play. [applause] >> [music] [singing] [music] [singing] >> I used to roll [singing] when I came [music] down in the morning. I sleep the streets. [singing and music] D. [singing] [music] [singing] I used to roll the dice. Feel the fear in my [singing and music] enemies. Listen as the crowds would sing. Now the old king is [music and singing] dead. Long live the king. One minute I held the king. Next, [singing] the walls were close on me. And I discovered that my castle stand [singing] upon pillars of songs and pillars of sand. Wo! I each Jerusalem bells [singing and music] are ringing. Roman Cal singing be my [singing and music] mirror, my sword,

my shield. My missionaries in a foreign field. For some reason, I can't explain. [singing] Once you'd gone, there is never an honest [singing] word. But that was when I ruled the world. [singing] [music] >> It was a wicked and wild wind [singing] blew down the doors to [music] let me in. Shattered windows and the [singing] sounds of drums. People couldn't believe what I'd become. Revolutionary way for my head on a steer plate. Just a puppet on a lonely [singing] string. Oh, who would ever want to be king? [singing] I Jerusalem bells are ringing. Roman Calvary choirs are singing. Be my mirror, [music] my sword, my shield, [singing] my missionaries in a foreign field. [music] For some reason I can't explain. I know St. Peter will call my name. Never an honest [singing] word, but thou

is when I rule the world. [music and singing] D. [singing] [singing] No way. [singing] I Jerusalem bells are ringing. Roman requires your [singing] singing. Be my beer, my sword, my shield, [music] my missionaries in a foreign [singing] field. For some reason I can't explain. I know St. Peter won't call my name [singing] ever in his word, but thou went out [singing] the world. >> [applause] [applause] >> Give it up one more time for Fusion. [applause] At this time, please welcome Pine Creek's class of 2026 senior class president Barton Lee to the podium. It is my pleasure to introduce Barton Lee, an exceptional member of the class of 2026. Throughout high school, Barton has pursued his passions for entrepreneurship and communication, competing in DECA, FBA, and speech and debate, while also founding Rez, redefining entrepreneurs in

STEM to empower young innovators. He gained valuable real world experience working at his family's restaurant, China Menu, and further strengthening his business acumen. He's a two-time FBA entrepreneurship state champion, earned second place at the 5A state level in speech and debate for program oral interpretation, and received a DECA ICDC certificate of excellence and achievement, placing him in the top 7% globally in entrepreneurship team decision-making. His hard work has been recognized through several scholarships, including the best and brightest gazette scholarship and the D20 Foundation scholarship, as well as a scholarship from Burger King. Barton is quick to credit his success to the support of his teachers, Mrs. Cornelia, Miss Edy, Mr. Mack, Miss Saunders, Miss Carpoo, and Miss Macintosh, as well as his family and friends. In the fall, he's going to attend Carnegie Melon University,

where he plans to pursue a double major in computer science and business administration. It is my distinct honor to introduce you to the class of 2026, senior class president, Mr. Barton Lee. >> [applause] >> Could we give another round of applause for Fusion? [applause] >> As you sit here in your caps and gowns you waited 18 years to wear, I want to leave you with one thought. Independence isn't about having everything figured out. It's about knowing how to use what you've been given. Pine Creek gave us more than just a diploma. It gave us a home. Think about Miss Saunders's classroom. She opened her doors nearly every lunch. And it might not sound like much, but it was. It was a place where you could breathe. No pass, no agenda, just a place to belong.

A lot of us spent time in her classroom talking to friends and asking Miss Saunders for advice when we needed it most. and Miss Cornelio, our college and career counselor, who took the time out of her day to learn your story. Not your GPA, but who you really are. She advocated for us through every recommendation, letter, deadline, and meeting. She helped me navigate a process I didn't fully understand and reminded me that my story mattered. What they gave us wasn't something you find in a textbook. They showed us that when you're given a space to grow, a classroom, an opportunity, a chance, it is your job to turn that into momentum. That is what this school and district has given us through staff, teachers, administrators. We've been given opportunities in athletics, DECA, FBA, speech innovate,

and so much more. They've built a system where students don't just show up, they feel seen. And that doesn't happen everywhere. So here's what I want you to remember. Pine Creek has been our home. And as we step into independence, it's easy to think that we need everything planned out. We don't. What we do have is what this community has given us, the ability to take what's been built and create something meaningful within it. So start there and keep building. And now I would like to give a warm welcome to Superintendent Hoverer. Um, Miss Hoverer has been a Colorado native native and been an educator for more than 30 years and her expertise to academy district 20. She comes from a long family lineage of educators who's instilled her desire to inspire others to be

lifelong learners. After earning her BSN and starting her career pathway as a registered nurse, she soon realized that her true passion was being an educator. Superintendent Huber has served in many roles from the classroom to administration, including earning the national board certification as a science teacher and serving as a middle school and high school principal, an assistant superintendent of student achievement, and a superintendent for 5 years in the state of Washington. She is proud to be back in her home state of Colorado as the superintendent of Academy District 20, where the team one spirit ensures that all students thrive. Please give a warm welcome to Superintendent Harbor. Well, good morning Pine Creek High School graduates, family, friends, faculty, and distinguished guests. Today, we gather in a place that stands as a symbol of commitment, discipline,

and service here in Clooney Arena on the grounds of the United States Air Force Academy. This is a place where young men and women choose a path defined not only by achievement but by purpose, a commitment to something greater than themselves. And today, class of 2026, as we celebrate your milestone, you stand at the beginning of your own journey of purpose, leadership, and service. Today marks the culmination of all your hard work, your resilience, and your dedication. You faced late nights, challenging exams, moments of doubt, but you persevered. You've balanced friendship, homework, and just enough sleep to function the next day. This is your moment to reflect on all you've accomplished. Our D20 vision is that all students leave with the knowledge, skills, and character necessary to be successful beyond high school. And none of

this would have been possible without the help of your family, your friends, teachers, coaches, and other mentors. They've walked alongside you every step of the way, and today they share in your success. So let's take a moment and thank them for their unwavering belief in you. [applause] Personally, I'm reminded of my own parents, Carl and Jane Johnston, both public school teachers for over 30 years. One of the most significant values that they instilled in me was to be a lifelong learner. Growing up in a household of teachers meant there were always high levels of encouragement, high levels of expectation, and probably a reminder or two about doing my homework. And though they are no longer with me, their influence continues to guide me. And I encourage you to carry forward the wisdom of those who

have shaped your lives. So graduates, listen to the wisdom that is shared with you by others. The following poem has inspired many over the years to reflect on the decisions that they will make in life. The road not taken by Robert Frost. Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both, and be one traveler, long I stood, and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth. then took the other as just as fair and perhaps having the better claim because it was grassy and wanted wear. Though as for that the passing there had worn them really about the same. And both that morning equally lay in leaves no step had drawn black. Oh I kept the first for another day. Yet knowing how

we lead leads on to Wei, I doubted if I should ever come back. And I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. Graduates, this poem reminds all of us that our life is defined by the choices we make. And often the most meaningful choices are not the easiest ones. The road less traveled is a decision to be confident in who you are rather than comparing yourself to others. It's choosing to believe that you are enough. It's choosing kindness and assuming positive intent even when it would be easier to judge. It's choosing contentment and gratitude in a world that often promotes entitlement. It's committing to being a lifelong learner,

remaining curious, thinking critically, and continuing to grow beyond high school. And most importantly, it's choosing to connect your purpose to something greater than yourself, serving others, strengthening your community, and becoming a contributing citizen. Class of 2026, I am confident that you will shape the world in remarkable ways. And as a D20 graduate, we welcome you back to share about your future adventures. And as you leave this place today, may you go forward with courage in your choices and pride in your journey. Let's give it up for the class of 2026. [applause] Thank you very much, Superintendent Habber. Please give it up for our student speakers and the superintendent one more time. >> [applause] >> Welcome everybody again. We are almost to the part where students get to walk across the stage. Um before we get

to that, I'd like to say a few words, but first students, if you could stand and find your loved ones in the crowd and please just show them some love. Families, please give it up one more time for the class of 2026. [cheering] >> [applause] [cheering] [applause] >> Thank you. You can be seated. I felt like you needed to get the blood flowing a little bit. I am so excited for you guys. As I was reflecting on your incredible accomp accomplishments, I couldn't help but go back to where it all began, kindergarten. And that reminded me of a poem, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. It talks about simple things. Share everything, play fair, clean up your own mess. And those lessons still matter, but I've uh come to recognize something

else is true. Everything you really needed to know in life, you learned right here at Pine Creek High School. Not just in the classrooms, but in the hallways, on the fields, courts, gyms, on stages, in friendships, and yes, sometimes while trying to make it back from lunch in time. I asked the class of 2026 what you learned and who impacted you. And eight big lessons emerged from your time at Pine Creek. Lesson one, get involved. Anna Parzik took me back to freshman year homecoming blackout theme packed stands and in the way back of the stands and everybody all in. Ariana Messo talked about that same energy but senior year in the front standing with friends and screaming through the whole game losing her voice the next day. Those weren't just games that was belonging. As

you move on, don't wait to feel comfortable. Join something, try something, show up. Because you don't find your place, you build it. Lesson two, mentors matter. You didn't just talk about classes, learning, or your SAT scores. You talked about the people that got you there. Katie Kim shared how Miss Mack helped her every year planning classes and thinking about her future. John Devett said Miss Saunders taught him how to do his taxes, which might be the most useful thing he learned. Malik Glenn called Miss Pletchus the goat, not just for teaching, but for showing up and supporting him. Elizabeth Gray said Mr. Gracia believed in her even when she didn't fully believe in herself. That's what matters. As you take your next steps, find your people and be that person for someone else. And yes,

call your parents back. They've earned it. Lesson three, go allin. Jay Holland said, "There's nothing worse than knowing you could have done better. She learned to give it everything she had. Will Deetsz learned it through tough basketball practices when the conditioning felt endless and he was exhausted, but he didn't give up. Brooks Congleton learned it through repetition in marching band over and over and over and over just to get a little better every time. Whatever you do next, go allin because wondering what if is harder than trying and failing. Lesson four, say yes. Emily Bill said, "Take every opportunity." She stepped into POW Lab clubs and new experiences that shaped her path. Paulie Snavely tried theater for the first time this year. It was scary, but it helped her grow, and she made some great

new friends. Chase Putty found his people through band and soccer. One of his best moments was being in the final four run for soccer, a bond for teammates that will last a li last a lifetime. As you head into your next chapter, say yes more than you say no. Yes to new things. and yes to growth. Lesson five, stick with it. Isabella Zapata moved here and had to figure it out. How to study, how to work, how to improve. Noah Nukem pushed through challenges and chose to graduate early. John Cubic talked about struggling in golf, but learning to reset and keep going. When things get hard, and they will, don't quit. Confidence comes from knowing I can handle this. Lesson six, people matter. Cassidy Stewart shared when things were tough, a teacher stepped in and

make sure she wasn't alone. Luke Chung shared that when impacted him more than hundreds of speech and debates trophies were the relationships he made. With friends like Ben and Adam who always showed up to support him and teachers who poured into him, he says that is true greatness. Cadia Alagal shared that she built her confidence and found her voice in part because of Dr. Ponous. Those moments stick. After you leave the creek, carry this forward. Be the person who shows up. Check in, reach out, pay attention, and remember people remember how you made them feel. Lesson seven, you are bigger than one moment. Will Roth didn't make the baseball team his freshman year, and then he got hurt. He went all out with screaming eagles and helped shaped the Pine Creek culture. He learned that

one moment doesn't define you. Aiden Williams struggled as a freshman, but turned things around academically and finished strong. Dorothy Naggie moved here during the pandemic and was content reading in the library. But when we switched to all school lunch, she made new connections and bloomed. As you embark on your next journey, next journey, remember this. You will fail at something. Learn from it, grow from it, move forward. And remember, you are so much more than one challenging moment. And lastly, lesson eight, be kind. Taylor Ritch said it simply, be kind. You never know what someone else is going through. Isaac Harris said there's always bor more beneath the surface. Brooke Gistler learned that once you get p fast past first impressions, you find real friendship. And Aiden Kloa said it best. Niceness goes a long

way. Every day, everywhere. Because it matters more than you think. So when you take a step back and look at it, these aren't just school lessons. They're life lessons. You learned how to show up, work hard, build relationships, take risks, handle failure, be kind, find your passion, and be part of something bigger than yourself. And maybe most importantly, you learned how to find your people. As you leave Pine Creek and step into what's next, remember this. The world does not need you to be perfect. It needs you to be kind. It needs you to be curious. It needs you to be brave enough to try, strong enough to keep going, and humble enough to keep learning. And the best part, you already know how to do all of these things because everything you really need

to know in life, you learned right here at Pine Creek. Class of 2026, we are so proud of you and we can't wait to see what you do next. Remember wherever you go and remember wherever you go, remember who you are. Remember where you came from. And know that you will h always have a home here. Congratulations, Eagles. You did it. [applause] Miss Amy Shandandy, will you please kindly join me at the podium? Will the junior attendants please rise and come forward?
