Good evening and welcome to the 43rd annual commencement exercises of Rampart High School. Tonight we are here to commemorate the class of 2025. I am Megan Sanders, principal of Rampart High School, and it is my honor to be with you tonight to declare that Rampart High School 2025 commencement ceremony has begun. I want to take this moment to recognize and thank all of the teachers, counselors, and support staff who have helped the class of 2025 reach this point today. Their dedication to education
and the contributions to these young adults growth is appreciated. They do this incredible work because they love students and know that Rampart students are among the best and brightest. Rampart faculty, you are now invited to please take your place on the floor with our seniors for the commencement exercises honoring the class of 2025. [Applause] I now give you your senior class president and your student body president Fiona Vaka and Claire Coliseimo. Hi, my name is Fiona Bakta and I have had the honor of serving as a senior class president for Rampart's class of 2025. Good evening Rampart faculty, family, friends, and class of 2025. I am Claire Colosimo and have served as the 2025 student body president. I'm not going to lie, I had a really difficult time writing this speech. I kept trying to
think of the perfect high school memory, something meaningful or epic or inspiring. But what I actually landed on was one of my most embarrassing moments. In this moment, I was in the girls' bathroom surrounded by other girls. I went to wash my hands and of course, there was no soap. So, naturally, I panicked and left and thinking I could use hand sanitizer. But then, as I walked away, I overheard a girl say, "My gosh, she did not wash her hands." I froze. My face turned tomato red and I awkwardly ran my hands back under the water and walked away. And in that moment, I was mortified. But now I look back and laugh. And I'm weirdly glad I remember that moment. That's the thing about high school. Some moments make you cringe, some make you
smile, and some you wish you could relive just one more time. But they all matter. Because here's the thing, memories fade. That was only a few years ago, and it already feels like a blip. But if we don't try to hold on to moments, even the awkward ones, this time in our lives will start to blur. We may not remember every single classmate or teacher, nor should we expect them to remember us. We can't expect every person to be remembered or a random nice encounter that smiled to us in the hall. But there will forever be lasting memories and nostalgia to our time in high school. There are certain things simply ingrained into my mind when I think of Rampart, like always using Times New Roman 12point font. In fact, I wrote this specific speech
with it. I will always remember with a smile my first lip dub and now my last. The last four years have been a big turning point for all of us with happy, sad, or embarrassing moments for everyone else here, too. Through these moments, it's really important for us to reflect on how much we've grown as people. I, just like all of you, will remember my most embarrassing moments, no matter how hard we try to forget them. My point is that memories fade, but if we don't remember, then our time here will fade. I'm not here to inspire you. I think we'll have enough inspiration by the end of today. But my wish is for all of you to remember the good and the bad, the embarrassment and the joy. Everything you remember is important. And
I hope you all have something so memorable you will never forget it. I want to say good luck to everyone here and congratulations to the class of 2025. [Applause] Every January, like I think most of us do, I'd start off strong by writing the wrong year at the top of my papers. It became a pattern throughout my elementary, middle, and high school years. I would scribble, erase, then write the correct year. 2022, 2023, 2024. And then this year, per usual, I did it again. I wrote 2024, paused, and corrected it to 2025. And all of a sudden, it felt real. This wasn't just another number to fix. This was the year. The one we heard about for the first time in kindergarten when we held up class of 2025 signs, smiling for the pictures and
saying, "Wow, that's so far away." Back then, it felt like a lifetime away. And now it's here. Throughout this final stretch of high school, I walk through the halls and every day I would catch myself thinking, "I'm too old to be here." It's honestly funny because freshman year, we felt like we didn't quite belong. And now this year, we kind of felt that same way again, just for different reasons. It began when senioritis started to creep in. But I think that outgrowing high school is a beautiful thing. I think it is something we need to step away from in order to look back in the future and remember the beauty of it all. It means we're ready. It means we've grown enough to finally leave the comfortable school routine we've been in for over a
decade. Although I was living in a different state before high school, it still feels like we've grown up together. We didn't know each other as kids, but at the same time, we did. We were kids when we first stepped foot into Rampart, mainly concerned about where our classes were. And then within a few years, we grew up as we started to talk about life after graduation. I really believe that the years between 14 and 18 have shaped us so much more than any of the others. It really is the difference between being a kid and starting adulthood. It's been incredible to watch all of us grow, not just older, but into ourselves as we slowly outgrew high school together. I hope that all of you carry that same sense of growth and self-discovery into whatever
comes next. Now, as many of you know, I did the announcements with Claire every Blue Day for the past three years. So, to end my speech in Rampart fashion, now for a joke of the day. What did the hat say to the tassel? You hang around, I'll go on ahead. Think about that one, Rams, and have a great future. Once again, Mrs. Sanders Please let me begin by thanking the Air Force Academy for providing us this beautiful beautiful facility. Furthermore, please let me extend gratitude to all those who bravely serve or have served in all branches of our military, especially those who are currently deployed. If I could please ask our staff members who have served in any branch of the military or any member of the audience currently serving or who are veterans to
please stand and be recognized. Thank you for your service. It is my honor now to introduce the distinguished group who joined me on stage tonight. Please hold your applause until the end. First, Mrs. Amy Shandandy, president of the board of education and Rampart High School's board of education liaison. Mrs. Nicole Kz, vice president of the board of education. Mr. Aaron Salt, board of education director. Mr. Derek Wilburn, treasurer of the board of education. Mrs. This is Lauren Yanes, board of education director, and Colonel William Sullivan, US Air Force Academy liaison, who is unable to be here with us tonight. Additionally, we have Mrs. Ginger Haber, superintendent of Academy School District 20, Mrs. Becky Allen, deputy superintendent and chief financial officer, Dr. Susan Field, assistant superintendent for learning services, and Dr. Dr. Becky Harris, executive director
for learning services school leadership. And then on my Oh, clean that [Applause] one. And on the right side here or your left, I have my administrative team. First, we have Mrs. Kylie Bailey, assistant principal. Mrs. Davlin Edgit, assistant principal. Dr. Mr. Abby Graham, assistant principal. Mr. Andy Parks, assistant principal and director of athletics, who is unable to be with us tonight because he is supporting our girls soccer team playing in the state quarterfinals. And kickoff just happened. And Mr. Brian her Herman, Dean of Students. [Applause] At this time, I want to take a minute to talk to the seniors. Seniors today or graduates today is a celebration. A celebration of your hard work, your resilience, your growth, and the incredible community you have built here at Rampart. For most of our lives, you and your
classmates have moved through the world in sync. You've walked the same hallways, sat in the same classrooms, taken the same tests, and shared the same snow days and spring breaks. From elementary school to middle school to high school, you've been on the same track, following a rhythm that was set long before you understood how to measure time. And not only that, you had the class ahead of you to show you what was coming next. You could look at the seniors and say, "That'll be me next year." You were all playing the game from the same playbook page by page, year by year. But that changes now. What comes next is something Mel Robbins calls the great scattering. Suddenly, our lives will no longer move in lock step. You'll be on different paths with different timelines,
living in different places. Some of you will go to college. Some will enter the workforce. Some may travel. And some may not be entirely sure what the next step looks like. And that's okay. There's no longer a playbook to follow. There's no longer one pl right place or one predictable next step. This is the first time in your life that you get to write the playbook. It's freeing and it can feel a little disorienting, too. That's why I want to leave you with this. As you figure out what you want to be, don't forget to surround yourself with a community that supports you as you figure out who you want to be. Because in the midst of uncertainty, your people will matter more than your plans. You'll need voices around you that remind you of
your worth, that help you laugh when things get heavy, and challenge you to become your best self. And just as importantly, the world will need you to be the kind of community for others. We've seen what it looks like here at Rampart. You've been there for each other, cheering each other on, picking each other up, showing up day after day in big and small ways. That's what real community looks like. And it doesn't end here. Take it with you. Rebuild it wherever you go. So, class of 2025, as you step into the scattering, do it with courage. Write your own playbook. Give yourself permission to move at your own pace. Celebrate your friends, even when their paths look different than yours. And above all, stay rooted in community because no matter where you go, you
don't have to go it alone. Congratulations. We are proud of you. It is now my pleasure to introduce this year's student speaker at large, Cassie Navaro. Cassie is Cassie is joined tonight by her mother and father, Katherine and James Beasley, her twin sister, Eco Navaro, siblings, Na Natalie, Robin, and Talia and Hope, and her grandparents Janet and Larry Hutchinson, as well as other close family and friends, Cassie Navaro. All right. Hi, everyone. All right. Thank you, Mrs. Sanders. The class of 2025 knows what it means to be brilliant, and not for the reasons one might assume. In hearing the word brilliance, some might think of an academic scholar or a prodigy or talented athlete, and some of us are admittedly neither of those things. However, to our advantage, there are two definitions to the word
brilliance. Intense brightness of light and vividness of color is the alternative definition stated by the Oxford dictionary. And within this definition is where I believe our class of Rampart Ramshine. While I think it is important to signify those who have made such great accomplishments, I also think it is important to signify those of us who have fought our way just to be sitting in these seats amongst our other classmates. To recognize the bright faces and futures of students who are convinced that they would never make it. To those who might not have a group of friends to celebrate this achievement with or those who may have drove themselves here with nobody in the crowd to cheer them on, those who are perhaps the first in their family to graduate and go to college. Your attendance
in this ceremony is valued and something to be proud of. Regardless of if you were in the top or the bottom of our class in regards to GPA or if you were in every club and activity and are on your way to your dream school, collectively we exemplify what it means to be a Ram. And amongst us is where the definition of brilliance lives. Attending Rampart High School and letting your individuality be a light contributes to the promising and colorful place that so many of us know Rampart to be. Whether you have a handful of cords or are just wearing your cap and gown, you still deserve to be recognized for this accomplishment. In this moment, you can exhale knowing that you are about to call yourself a graduate. And in obtaining that title, I
encourage you to pursue the type of life that your younger self would be proud of. Let us to continue to evolve and adapt, gaining empathy and shutting off apathy to become the kind of people who we would be inspired by. To know when not just to lend an arm or a hand, but to know when to lend your time. You are not characterized by these past four years and are not defined by everything that has ever hurt you, but rather your struggles are a testimony and reminder to yourself of your radiating resilience and patience. Congratulate yourself as you leave this building tonight. Smile with the knowledge that you have a promising future, one of intense brightness of light, filled with vividness of color, knowing that our future is one of brilliance. Congratulations, class of 2025.
[Applause] And at this time, it is my distinct honor to introduce the Rampart Choir under the direction of Miss Ellie Hackbarth, who will perform I Lived by One Republic. [Applause] [Music] Bum bum. Bum B. They're screaming your [Music] names. Hope that you fall in love. It hurts so bad. The only way you can give it all [Music] you [Music] hope I Did it [Music] all. I did it [Music] all. I owned every second. I saw so many places that I broken. I swear I live [Music] D when sun goes [Music] I could [Music] witness it all. I did it [Music] all. I owned every second. I saw so many places that I did. Yeah. With every broken bone, I swear I lived. [Applause] It is my pleasure to introduce Mrs. Ginger Habber, superintendent of Academy
School District 20. Ginger Habber, a Colorado native, brings more than 30 years of educational experience and expertise to Academy District 20. She comes from a long family lineage of educators who instilled her instilled in her a desire to inspire others to be lifelong learners. After starting her career pathway as a registered nurse, she soon find realized that her true passion was being an educator. Ginger has served in many roles from the classroom to administration, including earning board national board certification as a science teacher and serving as a middle and high school principal, an assistant superintendent of student achievement, and a superintendent in the state of Washington. Ginger is proud to be back in her home state of Colorado as a superintendent of Academy School District 20, where the team one spirit ensures that students thrive.
We would like to thank Mrs. Habber for all she has done for Rampard High School students and staff. Please welcome Superintendent of Academy School District 20, Mrs. Ginger [Applause] Habber. So congratulations class of 2025 Rampart Rams today. Let's give it up for them. Let's give up. This is such a special night. Today marks the culmination of your hard work, your resilience, and your dedication. You've faced late nights, challenging exams, moments of doubt, but you never gave up. This is your moment to reflect on all you've accomplished and take pride in your journey. Our vision for you and D20 is that you have the knowledge, skills, and character necessary to be successful beyond graduation. But none of this would be possible without the help from your family, your friends, your teachers, your coaches, and other mentors.
They've been with you every step of the way and today they share in your success. So let's take a moment and thank them for their unwavering belief in [Applause] you. Personally, I'm reminded of the legacy of my own parents, Carl and Jane Johnston. My mother was a kindergarten teacher and my father a high school English and journalism teacher. And together they taught me the importance of collaboration, creativity, and being a lifelong learner. And even though they are no longer with me, their influence continues to shape my journey. And I encourage you to hold tight to the lessons from those who have helped you along the way. So graduates, listen to the wisdom shared with you by others. A poem that captures the very essence of values like humility, grace, and living life well is Ruard
Kipling's if. Kipling was a prolific writer who won the Nobel Prize in literature in 1907. He had one son, John Kipling. And we can infer that this poem was written for John before he left to be a soldier in World War I. And even though this poem was written for his son and somewhat reflects the culture of his time, there are ageless truths embedded within. And I encourage you to listen for what resonates most with you. If by Ruard Kipling. If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you. If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, but make allowance for their doubting, too. If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, or being lied about, don't deal in lies. Or being hated,
don't give way to hating. And yet, don't look too good nor talk too wise. If you can dream and not make dreams your master. If you can think and not make thoughts your aim. If you can meet with triumph and disaster and treat those two impostors just the same. If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken twisted by naves to make a trap for fools. or watch the things you gave your life to broken and stoop and build them up with worn out tools. If you can make a heap of all your winnings and risk it on one turn of pitch and toss and lose and start again at your beginnings and never breathe a word about your loss. If you can force your heart and nerve and sine you to serve your
turn long after they are gone. And so hold on when there is nothing in you except the will which says to them hold on. If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue or walk with kings nor lose the common touch. If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, if all men count with you, but none too much. If you can fill the unforgiving minute with 60 seconds worth of distance run, then yours is the earth and everything in it. And which is more, you'll be a man, my son. Class of 2025, your future is filled with endless possibilities. So stay curious, be resilient, and dream big. I am confident that you will shape our world in remarkable ways. And as a D20 graduate, we welcome you back to share about your future
adventures. So let's all give it up once again for the class of 2025. [Applause] Thank you, Mrs. Haberer. Good evening, class of 2025, friends, family, and colleagues. I would now like to welcome to the podium our valadictorians. We will first hear from the international balorate valadictorian Sienna Fer and then the college prep valadictorian Aana Paul. [Applause] Anyone can cook, but only the fearless can make great. A quote from the chef Agus Gustoau, who many of you may know from the film Ratatouille. While this line may seem to only be about the trials and errors of a cat, of a rat cooking at a five-star restaurant, there is a deeper meaning, an aspiration to
do better and be better than what you believe is possible. By being fearless and taking risks, what can be achieved is beyond our understanding of ourselves. Throughout our high school experience, many of us have feared taking risks. Deciding whether to study for a test or not, taking a hard class you've only heard rumors of the intense workload, or joining that sports team you don't believe you are good enough for. However, the problem with waiting for the right chance is that it may never come. The world may never have the perfect path for you to to achieve your dreams. It is important that we chase what we believe is right for us on our own terms. Being fearless does not necessarily mean breaking boundaries. Being fearless can be taking one step out of your comfort zone.
Um, it can be no longer take sub being subject to the rules of conformity. And it can be as simple as dying your hair another color, approaching someone you don't know and becoming their friend, or asking questions we never would have before. By challenging the status quo, we can break a cycle of conformity and challenge ourselves. Laurel Thatcher Olrik's words of well- behaved women seldom make history embody this concept. Being outspoken in who we are can change the world as we know it. Making a statement aloud can change the course of history. However, the setback to taking a risk is the chance of failing. Failing is a natural part of life. How else would we as humans learn? A part of failing is also the importance of a sort a support system to help you
when you encounter setbacks. Take a minute tonight to thank those who have helped you along the way. It may be your teachers, parents, siblings, family, or friends who have made your journey here possible. So, thank you to the teachers and staff at the school. And thank you to every parent who has helped us along our path. The failures and mistakes along the way may create roadblocks on the path you are taking. But roadblocks will not obstruct your path. Instead, they define you and how you overcame these obstacles. I wish you the best in your next step. As Gustau said, if you focus on what left behind, you will never see what lies ahead. Congratulations, class of 2025. Thank [Applause] you. Hi guys. I know what you're expecting, but don't worry. This is not a poetic
sendoff filled with metaphors about mountains and how four years ago I couldn't have pictured being up here and how these are the best moments of our life. This is a confession. I spent four years trying to figure out what was going on. I still don't know. Between COVID and the devious licks and senioritis, I just learned how to walk quickly while looking stressed out so people assumed I was doing something important. And somehow that worked. Now being up here sounds like I have it all figured out. I don't. I just had Google Docs, Quizlet, and the constant nagging question of what is the point? Which coincidentally is the same question I asked myself about everything during high school? What's the point of memorizing the KB cycle? What's the point of parking permits if we have
to be at school? What's the point of all of this really? What are we chasing? And despite what this speech may suggest, I don't have the answer. I don't know what the point is. I don't even know if there is one. But I do know this. When I was debating whether my full face of clown makeup for the lip dub was too creepy, a random girl in the bathroom told me she loved it. When I was horrified after a physics test that I ended up getting less than a 50% on, all it took was trauma bonding with a classmate to keep me going. When I emailed my teachers at obscene hours of the night and they didn't ask any questions, I felt a little more at home. And when everything felt overwhelming or pointless, little
moments like this gave me a glimpse into something real, something worth holding on to. Maybe that's what we're supposed to be looking for. Not some giant revelation, but those small, fleeting things that somehow leave us feeling whole. So, no, I don't have answers. I can't give you a blueprint for adulthood. I can't promise you that the rest of your life will be fun and easy. But I can promise you this. Everyone else is just as confused. So give yourself permission to not know either. Everyone is too busy worrying about themselves to notice how weird you said here during attendance or that you waved to someone who wasn't waving at you. Everyone's too busy stressing out about their own stuff to remember the time that I fell during homecoming and prom and down the front of
the school entrance. So instead of chasing this perfect version of what life could be, notice what is. It's messy. Sometimes it's getting yelled at by Miss Edgit for being late. Sometimes it's late night talks after a football game. But whatever it is, it's yours. We lived, we embarrassed ourselves, we laughed, we loved, we questioned everything. And somehow we made it. Class of 2025, we may never find the ultimate point. But if we hold on to the people, the memories, the moments that make us forget that we were even asking, maybe that's enough. And if all else fails, just walk fast and look concerned. It worked for me. Thank [Applause] you. Now, please welcome Mrs. Sanders and Mrs. Chandandy. Mrs. Chandi, it is with the greatest honor that I present to you the members of the
class of 2025. I hereby certify that these students have met the requirements for graduation from Rampart High School and Academy School District 20 and are recommended to receive their [Music] [Applause] diplomas. On behalf of the board of education of Academy District 20, I accept with pride and pleasure the 2025 graduating class of Rampart High School.
