and concurrent enrollment courses during her time at Liberty as a leader in the building she has served on student council for the past four years and was a link leader in helping our freshman transition into high school she has been a member of our Varsity softball team and the National Honor Society over the past four years she has put her heart and soul into Liberty High high school as both a student and a leader her leadership style is one of kindness and service to others ladies and gentlemen your student body president for the class of 2024 Miss Briana [Applause] frer thank you miss the and thank you to the fellow students families friends staff and especially the instructors who made the last four years as memorable as they were my name is Briana frer and
I am so honored to welcome you to the graduating class of [Applause] 2024 Although our start in a new and strange Place completely alone and isolated was not the traditional one to one's High School career the ending was everything we could have dreamed for and more I'm grateful to be here in front of you all and before we continue on about today and what lies ahead please allow me to take a moment to reflect on everything we've accomplished thus far particularly in our senior year we kicked off with one of the largest attended homecoming football games in years with the stands filled largely with seniors Not only was the game packed full that night we also had a glorious win thanks to our senior players down on that field but ladies we can't give the
guys all the credit down there we took home the trophy for both our senior year Powderpuff game and were also able to destroy the competition in our junior year as well we went up against the class of 2023 and earned one of the first Junior wins Liberty High School had ever [Applause] seen this year our senior soccer boys stole the show as they Advanced to the 5A quarterfinals in state playoffs but the turf wasn't the only place we dominated this year we also demonstrated our domination on the ice the hockey team made it to the 4A state playoffs for the first time in 23 [Applause] years and let me tell you they earned every minute of it in total we had 13 athletes who committed to play at the Collegiate [Applause] level now while we
have great athletic Talent among our group what's migher than our braa is truly our brains as a whole our class has received over 7 billion dollar in scholarships with much more to come speaking of brains though the robotics Science Olympiad and knowledgeable senior members certainly demonstrated their intellectual prowess winning more accolades and first place prizes than you could count on both hands [Applause] our Arts programs such as band made it a state and received a score of superior with distinction one of the highest scores possible to obtain thank you to the 16 seniors who contributed to that result band wasn't the only one killing it in the Arts though choir was also making themselves heard literally where five seniors went to All State one of which even made it to the All State Jazz [Applause]
choir finally dance sent one senior to All State where they truly dance the night away our activities like Deca and FBLA earned some State recognition one of which was the state champion in networking infrastructure another club who deserves some praise is National Honor Society with a class of 2024 completed over 1,000 volunteer hours throughout this year which is remarkable the scope of what we've accomplished collectively this year would leave me rambling up here for hours and trust me I wish I could shout out more because there is but the greatness we achieved this year is only the beginning don't forget that while you're looking back on all you've accomplished so far to face what's com coming next because extraordinary things are still to come and it's up to you from here you've all proven your
ability to go out and sees what's yours so what's stopping you thank you for the last four years of my [Applause] life and I am proud to introduce the salutatorian Avery Turner to the podium next she yes she has achieved an astounding GPA of 4645 and she is attending CSU in mechanical [Applause] engineering but from personal experience the books aren't the only place you will find this girl she was honored as a girl leading change at the White House for international day of girl as well as the Director of programs for blue military teens here at Liberty she was a member of Latin NHS National Honor Society and a rocky leader she was team captain for girls dive and as four-time Varsity letter earner as well as a two-time state qualifier I could stand at
this Podium for hours rambling on about the accomplishments she has made but I would like to say one last thing Avery is one of the most genuine friends you will ever have and deserves all the praise she gets because there is truly no one I've ever met that is as dedicated as her I'm proud to call you my friend and introduce you to her all today please give a round of applause to Avery Turner [Applause] no before I begin I want to thank a few important people for their presence today in support of our graduates thank you Mrs habber and members of The Academy District 20 school board thank you principal sis thank you parents friends and family and thank you class of 2024 [Applause] Taylor Swift says I've spent my whole life trying to
put it in words well in this case is trying to explain High School in one word I think I finally settled on it nerd usually you think of a nerd as someone who spends most of their time studying and doing homework they might have a high grades or take difficult classes probably you'd put me into that category but but that's not all there is to being a nerd to me a nerd is someone who manages to pull off a balancing act with school at any level and all of their commitments outside of it it's an impressive feat that takes an incredible amount of dedication this effort is why the word nerd means more than it seems nerds can be the best athletes the best leaders and the best friends you know they shouldn't be reduced
to only their academic achievements they're real people with very real lives and so here's the twist if you're here today graduating you are also a nerd you might not see yourself as one but you balance school and the life you lived outside of it so you're what I Define as a nerd it takes hard work to keep your grades up when you can't devote all of your time to them which none of us can really do you are someone who put in the time to be able to graduate today each and every one of us had our own unique journey of nerdom that brought us here we didn't follow the same path and will continue on our own individual ones after today yet still we all share our nerdiness in being here and so I
want to thank some of the people who helped me embrace my own Journey as a nerd thank you Miss Goen for always being ready to talk to me and answer my questions thank you Miss alicio for using your math methods that aren't in any textbook to make me feel like a genius thank you Mr Faceman for teaching me the importance of establishing connections both in and out of school thank you Mr St for showing me how to connect history together through cheese thank you Miss paulen for making me understand government through speed dating and an overly competitive election thank you Mr vas Nellis for growing my self-confidence through the ability to read a dead language and thank you Mac for always giving me a place where I didn't need to think about grades where I
always felt encouraged to go way beyond my comfort zone thank you to all of my teachers for teaching past the curriculum and sharing your nerdiness with me thank you to my family they put up with so many panics about test grades and due dates and they attended countless events in support of me I wouldn't be anywhere without you and most of all thank you class of 2024 for all being a bunch of nerds with me [Applause] I can be changed by what happens to me but I refuse to be reduced by it these words by Maya Angelou capture the resilience of the class of 2024 as well as this year's selected commencement speaker Chandler orne came to the Lancer nation in 2021 as a sophomore when he his family moved to Colorado Springs from Woodland
Park Colorado he desired to be a part of a community that offered a variety of opportunities finding a home at Liberty allowed Chandler to take full advantage of our wide range of course offerings and activities and make meaningful connections to student and staff Chandler has taken pre-advanced placement advanced placement current enrollment classes through Pikes Peak State College additionally he is graduating with a CNA license after completing our certified nursing assistant course this year outside of the classroom Chandler is highly involved he serves as the DECA president and is one of only three students who have been in Deca for the past three years he is also a two-time state qualifier he is a member of FBLA and qualified for state for that organization this year as well well for the past two years chanders has
served as student council representative and a link leader providing guidance and mentorship to new freshmen he also worked closely with the superintendent and Board of Education this year as he was recommended for the district's portrait of a graduate Committee in addition Chandler played on the district boys volleyball team for two years at DCC when he has not pres when he has not participated in an event himself he is attending and supporting various extracurricular events at Liberty to support his fellow students he has also enjoyed building relationships with the LHS staff as Chandler has gotten older he values those staff members who have been most impactful and he has learned from it is no surprise that some of Chandler's greatest strengths are his inpersonal and communication skills he loves to talk get to know others and
create create friendships there is an immediate ease you feel and authenticity you recognize when engaging in a conversation with him these are Priceless skills and qualities that sadly are no longer as prevalent rivaling his incredible hair arguably Chandler's most endearing quality is his love for his family he takes great pride that he is a reflection of both of his parents for they taught him the importance of hard work and Independence he attributes his desire to travel and sense of adventure to his dad Chandler will be embarking on a new adventure of his own pursuing a career in medicine at the University of Arizona Chandler gives credit to his mom for his ambition outgoing personality and value of connecting to others Chandler lost his mom to cancer when he was 13 years old yet his memories
of her are as vibrant as ever Chandler is a self-proclaimed mama's boy who remembers her drive and how much she loved hosting social events she was known as the hostess with the mostest she instilled in him the words think it believe it and it shall be while taking care of his mom may have developed Chandler's initial passion to pursue health care and help others her words will guide him as he chases his dream of becoming a physician's assistant with great honor I introduce to you our commencement speaker for the class of 2024 Chandler [Applause] [Music] orne wow thank you Miss Hoy for that wonderful introduction and good afternoon before I begin I want to give a quick shout out to my family because none of them knew I was giving this speech today so surprise
as you may know my name is Chandler orne and I am extremely honored to be selected as your 20124 commencement speaker today we find ourselves in an extraordinary moment not merely as Spectators but as the focal point of a long- awaited ceremony our graduation so with that being said welcome welcome parents friends family esteemed faculty and loved ones who can't be here with us today in person but most importantly I want to personally welcome the class of 2024 I'd like to take a quick moment to thank the board members present here today and a special thank you to miss Haber our superintendent as well in addition to the board I want to commemorate our principal Mr sisen and all of the Liberty High School staff for their endless dedication to teaching the leaders of tomorrow
for always making Liberty a place to stand so that we as students can move the Earth you know I knew that Liberty High School was like no other as soon as I watched the class of 22 pop their confetti cannons on my first day at Liberty the amount of students inspired me to become so much more than just a student I wanted to become something bigger within the community and little by little I learned to confide in staff members and learn from them not only in the classroom but in areas outside of high school as well I want to especially thank Miss Evans a teacher who I've had the pleasure of knowing all of my three years here at Liberty Miss Evans you have truly inspired me to step outside of my comfort zone to
try new things to smile and to really Chase what makes me happy all while having a good credit score so now that we're all here standing together in our cap and gowns I want you to go ahead and think back to your younger self walking around campus remember the nerves the excitement that feeling of being lost and I want you to think about what you would say to your younger self but if you happen to run into my old self wandering the halls of Liberty I was hoping you could tell him a few things for me tell him not to worry so much let him know that he'll make so many friendships and connections at Liberty and that he'll impact countless lives along the way ask him to redefine his expectations of what a good
teacher is and then tell him that the staff at Liberty will exceed them by a long shot tell him that it's good to have a plan but it's also good to take it rip it up and do something wild and daring with your life even if it feels like you're taking all of your hard work and throwing it away looking back I wish I would have known that things can go so amazingly incredibly right but also terribly and disastrously wrong all at the same time so my advice is to just keep going but with confidence even your wrong decisions can be redeemed and transformed into something better than you could have ever imagined whatever choice you make is not a definitive end or the only beginning it's you carving your own path for Success you
will get where you need to be I promise because you can't write yourself out of your own destiny so if there's anything that I want you to take from the speech today don't play it safe comfortable is not where the action is being comfortable is not where you're going to find out who you really are now I couldn't possibly know what your biggest dream is or where your true happiness will be found but I know where it isn't it isn't in your comfort zone your destiny is on the other side of a big risk so don't be afraid to stand up for what's best for your future there is so much life to be lived out there and many people ask well what is the purpose and what's the meaning behind all this but I
don't think that question is ours to answer as of now our purpose is to live and to have lived a full life and to look back and not have any regrets and to say you know I made the most of being alive because what a small minute chance that you would be alive at the same time as me same time as your best friend or someone that you love so take that chance create those stories learn from your mistakes surround yourself with people who actually support you and finally go out there and live your best life with absolutely no regrets congratulations and good luck to the class of 2024 we all deserve it thank you [Applause] [Music] I used to rule the world Seas would rise when I gave the world now in the morning
I sleep Al sweep the streets I used I used to all the the fear in my enemy's eyes listen as the crowd would sing now the king is King King next the walls were closed on me and I discovered that my cast stand upon pill of Sal and pillars [Music] of Cal singing be my Mir my sword and shield missionaries in a forign field for some Reon I can't explain there never in all that was when I R the world [Music] [Applause] [Music] fi for some reason I can't explain all my all his word that was when I ruled the world [Music] [Applause] Thank You choir for that wonderful performance and now it is my distinct honor to be introducing Liberty High School's class valedictorian Oli Lambert Oli has ascended to the top of our
class earning a 4.64 GPA through his remarkable achievements and dedication to Excellence not only is he the recipient of the prestigious Daniels fund scholarship but he also excels in athletics balancing his time between track cross country and Tennis beyond the field and Court alli's leadership shines as the captain of the knowledgeable team he's not all about academics and sports though oi is also a devoted member of his church and a member of The Fellowship of Christian athletes andol embodying values of faith and Community his accolades extend further as a distinguished recipient of the order of the crest Liberty's highest award yet if you were to ask him what his greatest achievement in high school was it was probably being president of the pickle ball Club moving forward olly will attend the United States Air Force
Academy to study engineering this fall my advice to anyone also attending the academy definitely snag a seat next to this guy in your next math class now I could stand up here forever and talk about all these achievements his friends and his family that got him to this point but I'm going to let him do most of the talking so without further Ado please join me in a huge round of applause as I award Oli his Medallion and welcome him to the stage [Applause] so first of all thank you Chandler that was amazing um good afternoon before I begin I'd like to recognize our superintendent Mrs Haber our principal Mr sisen parents honored guests and most importantly the class of 2024 [Applause] I know we all worked incredibly hard to be sitting here today but
we couldn't have done it without the endless support of the people I just mentioned and so many others I'd also like to extend a personal thanks to a few of the people who have been most instrumental in my own journey to Mrs Goen Mrs alicio Mr falman Mrs paulen Mr strob and all my teachers thank you for cultivating my love of learning and helping mold me into the student and person I am today [Applause] to my friends thank you for welcoming me when I moved here two years ago and truly making this place feel like home to my parents and my four siblings Phillip Maria Greta and Eli thank you for having my back no matter what and finally I want to thank God for giving me this opportunity and being with me every second
of the way the first thing I want to talk about today is the insignificance of ceilings and by ceilings I mean constraints to what we think is possible Albert Einstein once said once we accept our limits we go beyond them I believe most of our limits are self-placement at LHS in sports academics Music Theater and clubs I've seen us exceed all expectations as we now enter new schools and workplaces and and pursue excellence in all Realms don't be afraid to continue to challenge your limits and reach beyond what you think is possible don't shy away from trying new things and taking risks I've discovered throughout my life that is very hard to overestimate the potential for long-term progress I'm sure that each one of us sitting here to today is capable of much more than
even we believe and I can't wait to see us redefine our limits but while we work toward our future we can't abandon the present what makes life worth living isn't achieving goals it's experiencing and enjoying the ordinary moments in each day most of our Lives will be spent in routine most days won't seem special as I've learned over the past four years it's so important to savor these days because ordinary moments within them create the Fondest Memories the friendships you build and the laughs you share will shape the person you become these are the moments you remember so I encourage all of you to live without fears or inhibitions I encourage you to chase your dreams and challenge your limits but most of all I encourage you to find joy in the process once again
