003the home of the brave [Applause] you may all be seated [Applause] [Music] it is my great pleasure to welcome family friends teachers admin and the Board of Education to the cloon arena for the graduation ceremony for the class of 2024 Today We Gather to celebrate the achievements of our incredible graduates and bid them farewell as they embark on their Journey beond these Halls graduates you made through long years of schooling and education where dedication and hard work carried you through exams papers and assignments you made it through late night rehearsals and practices where you found a balance between hardship and rejoicing you made it through broken and restored relationships where the importance of character and a true friendship persevered we have made it through some of the most challenging and strenuous years of Our Lives
004while still making some of the most unforgettable memories and experiences that I all hope we cherish forever and after a long absence we can reminisce on the beauty of our high school years as you step out into the world equipped with these skills and wisdom acquired during your time here know that you will carry with you the hopes and dreams of those who have supported you along the way embrace the challenges that lie ahead and courage and determination for you have the power to make the difference in this world every graduate has paved their own way while here at Air Academy each journey is specific to each individual and every hour is different and unique however no no matter the variation every trial and every praise has positively developed the characters of these graduates the
005fact that they are titled graduates highlights this incredible growth I'm beyond ecstatic to see these individuals step out into the world using the character that makes them unique and apply it in every aspect of their life I looking forward to seeing the amazing and unique lives that my peers have created in the future all while remembering the fun we had in high school I excited to hear of all the amazing accomplishments that this class will perform whether it be heart surgery teaching elementary students the class of 2024 will change the world I know this because I've already seen it though many of you may be leaving the school behind remember that you are always part of our community stay connected and continue to strive for excellence and never forget the values instilled in your time

010talented funny smart dedicated individuals who together have made Air Academy a much better place you have accomplished great things you have excelled athletically as a class just this year you have won conference championships in boys swim girls swim yeah give it up boys golf wrestling girls tennis and boys cross country the girls basketball team led by Aller Caitlyn Kramer on her way to [Applause] CSU not only one Conference Championship but made it all the way to the final four great job ladies and last but certainly not least our incredible girls cross country team followed up their second consecutive state championship by traveling to Eugene Oregon and led by the one and only Bethany mccullick second place finish won the National Championship congratulations [Applause] your class has excelled in the Arts music and activities who is
011ever going to forget our production of The Little Mermaid people are still raving about it from Michael Ellsworth and Natalie H's lead performances to Isabelle Litt little scen stealing portrayal of Ursula it was simply the finest example of high school theater anywhere congratulations to River leam Sarah nuo Nina Guera Lily Wong Willow TNA Amber maluska and the rest of the cast and crew for an incredible show give it up for them [Applause] please and even under new leadership shout out to Mr allenson where's Mr allinson even under new leadership our band Led by drum major Mark Ferris and our Color Guard led by Brie haek continue to shine our band and color guard seasons were capped off by our band making the state finals and our winner guard once again winning the state championship congratulations
012to [Applause] all our choir continues to be an outstanding representation of the Arts and before I continue I just just want to take a special moment to thank Dr Austina Lee for her contributions for everything she has done to Air Academy High School thank you Dr [Applause] Lee but our choirs under the student leadership of AI Kumar and Ella mcau allowed students absolutely allowed students to find their voice and shine at every event possible congratulations to our choir [Applause] program our Air Force Junior rooc program continues to be the finest unit in the nation they Thrive and continue to produce outstanding citizens of character students like Hannah Bellamy Wyatt bogust and Ryan went are going to continue on with what they have learned in jotc into the military in fact both Ryan and Wyatt earned
013full Scholarships in the j100 ROC program so they will continue their education and eventually be commissioned to the United States Air Force [Applause] congratulations speaking of our jotc they went to Florida last week for the Raider competition which is the competition for physical Fitness and out of all of the units in the entire country they won so not only do we have a national championship and girls cross country our Air Force Junior RC Raider team are national champs too so we have two national champions congratulations to chase Lanz Ryan bong Christian raker and Daniel day carolis for this amazing accomplishment and I just want to give a quick shout out to Rob Huber our senior instructor Colonel Huber is not only an amazing teacher and a great mentor to these people but for some I
014don't know how he found the time but he somehow managed to write a book this year I just got a copy so Colonel great job with everything you do appreciate [Applause] you our DEA and FB students continue to do amazing amazing things since our two c coffee shops weren't quite busy enough Miss J and Miss B decided to open up a third business this year they call Cadet Enterprises where they produce shirts and and mugs and all kinds of different things for people in the community and they' have already served over a hundred clients great job to our business folks and those [Applause] teachers but a successful program is only as successful as our students and our program under the heart work and Leadership of students like Abby Weaver Logan Burwell Kellen Greco Jesse sers
015and Elizabeth Kent Have Been instrumental in creating the very best program in the state of Colorado congratulations to [Applause] all but not only do these amazing students crush it in the classroom and competitions but they also give back into the community so I would like to give a shout out to to Briley Steinman and Max Hower for raising money for their United Way by hosting a pickle ball tournament Kellen and Wyatt raised thousands of dollars for the Tessa organization and Aaron Bailey hosted a 5k that raised money for the Catamount Institute great job you guys giving back to the community and to quote Miss Jay you all slay I don't know what that means but we're going to go with it I don't think a you know after you turn 50 you should be talking
016like that but we'll go with it Cadet you have excelled academically as a class you have amassed over $10 million in scholarships you will be attending some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the nation Audrey changen and Corbin Cooper will be heading to the Colorado School of Mines our Elizabeth Rose will be attending Princeton [Applause] and both Lily Larson and Elijah Sakamoto are going to stay right here at a little place called the United States Air Force Academy congratulations to [Applause] all your accomplishments have not gone unnoticed Kyle Wilson was a beter semifinalist congratulations Elizabeth Rose was a beter finalist congrat congratulations we also have two of the G of the gazette's best and brightest congratulations to Elizabeth Kent and Chase Lanz for this incredible recognition Chase also won the Daniels fund scholarship
017Chase where are you stand up can you leave an award for somebody else congratulations outstanding [Applause] kadet I hope you take many amazing memories from the time here at Air Academy I know I'm going to take many memories from you I will miss listening to Brooklyn bomberger and Anna cumins telling Miss Joanie all about the latest Shenanigans in Mr trop's class Mr Trope they ratted you out by the way I don't know if you knew that I will miss watching Noah Helm drain threes or Evan Lawrence driving in a winning run I'll miss watching Jaden fle pancake a defensive tackle I'll miss watching Talia doer rocking it as Crusher at football games how many of you knew that was Talia did you guys all know that didn't she do a great job did an amazing
018job I'll miss meeting with the averies once a week talking about student counsel and catching up with everything that they're doing I will miss the kindness of the students like Liza lum who went out of her way one day just to check in on me because I didn't seem quite as perky as I usually am we have the best kids I just can't tell you they are the best in the country and I love them all I will miss students like Maddie BS and Bonnie malette who always make me smile and laugh I will miss seeing ranne and Sloan smash record after record in the wait room she is an amazing athlete and I I look up to her in the wait room she does great things kadet you are an incredible incredible bunch of

026you all today as we reflect today on our time in high school I'm supposed to offer you some wisdom on an important transition that we're all making together the transition from adolescence to maturity however I'll admit that I cannot give you any advice that is entirely my own like you I do not know the meaning of life I do not know the formula for happiness or success and I do not know what to expect from Life standing here today I feel as if I'm mered on the precipice between childhood and adulthood a precipice that is equally exciting as it is intimidating and like the rest of you as I stand here looking forward to a future full of possibility I can't help but wrestle with existential questions how should I conduct my life and how
027can I make my life meaningful to help answer these questions I'd like to turn to one of my favorite books Henry David the rose Walden at first glance Walden is an autobiography A poetic description of th Row's day-to-day experiences while living at Walden Pond in Massachusetts in Walden he includes quite a bit of seemingly mundane details about his life at the pond uh like the process of building himself a cabin his observations of animal behaviors um and his process of exploring how to grow beans although these details are symbolically significant if we think of Walden simply as a collection of details we may get misled what is important about Walden is why thorough wrote it as he tells us I went to the woods because I wish to live deliberately to front only the essential
028Facts of Life and see if I could not learn what it had to teach and not when I came to die discover that I had not lived I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life to live so sturdily and spartan-like as to put to Route all that was not life to drive life into a corner and reduce it to its lowest terms in short Theo went to the pond because he wanted to learn to live he was not writing a book about a man living in the woods he was writing a book about a man living this is why I think Walden is perhaps more relevant to us today than any other book because now that we are becoming a adults we must choose how we will live our lives
029and this is exactly what Walden addresses the best way to live what we can learn from theough simple life at the pond is what it means to live deliberately thow is ceaseless in his learning his growing his pursuit of self-improvement and he shows us something that is particularly important to remember today as we reflect on four finished years of high school that learning is not limited to academics and that learning is the only true source of individual growth at Walden Pond Theo learns through experience experimentation and reflection um because he takes the time to slow down reduce life to its lowest terms like he told us and be active and thoughtful he is able to learn more about life in two years two months and two days than many of us could learn from four
030years of intense reading the road does not need books in order to learn every seemingly trivial piece of learning he acquires at Walden helps him to learn more about life as a whole yes even the time he takes to learn about the birds at Walden the depth of the pond the beans that grow there or the plants that grow there those all help shape the philosophies that he presents to us in Walden if the Rogue can learn enough from his time at a pond to create one of the great masterpieces of American literature surely we can learn more from the simple things in life after we leave High School through his constant pursuit of New Perspectives and new knowledge and new experiences thow also shows us that learning is our choice this is what thow
031means when he tells us to live deliberately he means that we must not be passive participants in life we must learn everything life can teach us so that every new Day brings new discoveries and reinvigorates our Spirits as thorough says we must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake by an infinite expectation of the Dawn I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by a conscious Endeavor I think this brings us to a deeper understanding of what we really celebrate today until now our parents and our mentors have helped us to grow and to develop we have all been forced to do things we didn't want to do which we later realized were beneficial now we must continue to grow without being compelled to do so
032we must push ourselves to learn to experience new things and to endure all of life's emotions whether good or bad as we graduate we celebrate each of our potentials to continue growing throughout life and to experience everything life has to offer we can only access this potential however if we continue to push ourselves to learn so really even though this ceremony acknowledges that we are getting older it also celebrates something amazing I think this is the most important thing that high school has given us the ability to continue growing even as we age because our childhoods have taught us how to think and how to pursue our goals we can stay young forever as long as we push ourselves to continue learning after we leave here today I hope that even if you don't remember
033what I've told you you will at least remember what the row has taught us which is that if we are not constantly pushing ourselves to learn and to grow we are not living Our Lives to the fullest I hope that we will all live actively and deliberately and I hope that we will pursue every possible opportunity for growth like thorow tells us when it's time to die let us not discover that we have not lived thank you outstanding job Elizabeth yeah I think she's going to do just fine at Princeton great job next we will be listening to a performance by our choir this performance was originally prepared for their 8th grade continuation however it was cancelled due to covid so four years later this group of students finally gets to perform this version of
