001Roll call, please. Here. >> Mr. Nichol here. >> Mr. Burns >> here. >> Mr. Atkins >> here. >> Mr. Phelps. Mr. >> Here. Uh, join me for a moment of silence followed by the pledge of allegiance. To the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all. >> Uh item five is public participation and there is none this evening. Item six is approval of the agenda. Is there a motion? Motion >> second. Mr. Nichl, >> yes. >> Mr. Burns, >> yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Item seven is superintendent report. >> Okay. Well, we're going to start with a very um important retiree. So, Paula Kelbeck is retiring this year. She has been teaching at Fairbanks local schools for 35 years,
002all in the same classroom. Throughout her career, she has primarily taught sixth grade science while also teaching sixth grade math, sixth grade social studies, and fifth grade science. Paula was honored as middle school teacher of the year twice during her career. She also served as a sixth grade team leader and outdoor education coordinator for the past 12 years. In addition to her classroom leadership, she has spent four years as a high school swim coach while her son competed for Fairbanks. One of Paula's favorite memories she shares is having the opportunity to teach her son Matthew along with her two nephews Brian and Andy Higin. As she retires, Paula shares how proud she is to have spent her entire career at Fairbanks and how much she has left her time serving the district and community. So,
003we say congratulations to Paula and thank her very sincerely from 35 years of dedication to Fairbanks students and families. And we will be celebrating her after school on Wednesday as a staff. Um, next we have the Union Rural Electric athletic Donations. We are grateful to Union Rural Electric for their generous donation of $25,000 to the athletic program. Last week, representatives from URE came to Fairbanks High School for the chat presentation. Their donation will help us put the finishing touches on our athletic facility improvements. And at basketball games, we will have an enhanced light show powered by UR. Again, we greatly appreciate this partnership and their support of our student athletes. And then the end of the year is just full of festivities. So, our campus is humming with activity as the year draws to a
004close. Our teachers deserve truly deserve a special shout out for creating engaging, meaningful, and educational experiences for students during these final weeks of school. Our eighth grade students recently returned from Washington DC and they had a phenomenal trip, enjoyed it very much. Um, and their behavior was just outstanding. So once again, Fairbanks doesn't disappoint. Our students were amazing. Last week, our fifth grade and algebra 2 students launched rockets as a part of the collaborative learning experience. High school students calculated the height of the fifth graders rocket launches and taught the elementary schools how they determined the measurements. Special thanks to Parker Hannneathan who attended the launch and generously donated funds to support the project. And shout out to Tina Hall and Megan Mccertie, the two teachers involved. Um the students had it was freezing cold
005on Thursday, but the students didn't care. They were very excited to see their rockets launch and it was a great time. Our eighth grade students have been immersed in the riotta project. This is a design challenge in which they build boats using only cardboard and duct tape. So students have been exploring uh concepts such as buoyancy and engineering design while testing their creations in the fish giant fish tank in John Thomas's classroom. And so then on Wednesday they will be at the Mary'sville pool where they will race their cardboard boats and we'll see who wins the regata. High school geometry students recently applied their mathematical skills to to designing a water park. So students presented their concepts to a representative from Zubzi Day who gave them professional feedback and awarded the winning team with passes
006to the park. And in partnership with local law enforcement and first responders, our elementary school students participated in Safety Town, learning important safety skills through handson experiences. And over the past two weeks, our K12 music students have showcased their talents during spring concerts. They've done a great job while our art students proudly displayed their creative work. And this week, middle school and elementary students will continue celebrations by sharing their unique abilities during the upcoming talent shows. And in addition to these exciting learning experiences, many students are reaching significant milestones. Our seniors will graduate on Saturday, best day of the year. Love graduation. after participating in several meaningful traditions this this week or actually last week including um passing a Fairbanks medallion to kindergarteners. So they meet on the field and high school students seniors pass
007a medallion panther medallion to the kindergarteners which is a new um as of last year annual celebration. The seniors did their clap out through all three buildings and their graduation gowns and celebrated together with their senior picnic class trip. Preschool students will celebrate their graduation on Thursday and our fifth grade students will participate in a clapout ceremony as they prepare for the transition to middle school. So, lots of wonderful celebrations and learning happening in these last few weeks of school. And then we will have the class of 2026 commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 23rd at 10:00 a.m. in higher field. The ceremony will be livereamed on the Fairbanks Local Schools YouTube channel and there is a Facebook message going out on Wednesday that has the link and information for the community. >> Good job. >>
008Uh item eight is a director's report. Uh, not too much to add. We're just getting ready to finish the fiscal year, believe it or not, at the end of June. So, um, every still everything still looks good. We're probably going to even come in a little bit better than projection. So, uh, short term still looks pretty sound, pretty solid. So, feeling good about the short term still. Uh, obviously the tax changes haven't come into play yet. So, that's eventually going to have some impact of course. So, but right now, uh, everything looks good. We've got a June 11th finance committee meeting scheduled uh to go over the forecast um and also talk about the budget for next year. So, but everything right now shortterm looks still looks pretty good. There is one bill out there's
009a little concerning. It's House Bill 420. Um we do have a 5 mil continuing levy. That bill does away with continuing levies. So, we need to keep an eye on that. Um so, after 2029, I believe they would do away. You can't have continuing levies. Um, I think this is going to get a lot of push back. I'd be surprised if it passes, but it's something to keep an eye on. >> Would that also affect our our income tax? >> It would just be all property tax. There any questions for Mr. Johnson? If not, is there a motion to approve part A of the character report? So move second. >> Mrs. Burns, >> yes. >> Mrs. Atkins, >> yes. >> Mr. Phelps, >> yes. >> Mr. L. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nickel. >> Yes. Uh
010part B includes the transfer from general fund to debt retirement fund for house bill 264 interest payment that $875. >> Is there a motion? That's still the lighting project. >> I'm sorry. >> Is that still the lighting project? >> No, that was the gas line that we we brought down in the boiler system in the high school. Okay. >> So that will be paid off this year though. December. >> This will be it. >> Yeah. Well, December is our last pay. payment. >> I'll make a motion. >> I'll second it. >> Mrs. Atkins, >> yes. >> Mr. Phelps, >> yes. >> Mr. Little, >> yes. >> Mr. Nichol, >> yes. >> Mrs. >> Yes. >> Item nine is consent agenda and there are a lot of items in the consent agenda this evening. Uh item
01110 is the minutes um from a regular meeting on April 20th and also on May 4th, the special meeting. Item 11 are cafeteria prices for the 26 27 school year. Um item 20, item 12 are several athletic contracts for 26 and 27. Uh item 13 uh A is a certified substitute. Uh be for nurse for 2627. Item 14 is classified substitutes. Item 15 uh is a band camp staff. Item 16 is summer maintenance. list of those. Item 17 is summer screenings and evaluations. Item 18 is additional compensation. That'd be for uh nurse services. Um that's for camp. Item uh 19 is disposal of several items. Item 20 is transitional days uh this coming summer for those four individuals. Item 21 are open enrollment capacities for 2627. Item 22 is phone allowances. That will be the
01225 26 23. There's three items on there. Those are resignations. Bowling coach, special ed a building secretary at the elementary. Item 24A is a stipen for Justin George to support her instruction. And item 25 is u tax incentives uh review council county that authorizes Mrs. Chapman and Mr. Johnson represent Fairbanks on the Union County Tax Center review council. >> Are there any questions? Turk. >> Yep. >> Questions on school lunches. Is that an increase at all on any of those or is that same price? >> I do not believe that's an increase. I guess on 24, I don't have any problem with the $100 extra for Justin George for supporting home structure for special ed. Is that a stipen or is that just an additional allowance for that time? If it's a stipen, is it
013going to go on to our list of stipens? I mean, >> we had about four teachers who were paid for helping a student after school and it is not ongoing. So, it was more situational. So it's not like a regular recurring statement or supplemental. >> We're not going to hear arguments that is a stipen that it should be included in these packages. >> No. No. It was kind of a oneoff need. >> Mrs. Chapman, do we always do the phone allowance at the end of the year? Is that >> I think that was likely missed. So >> that probably should have happened last May and that was left off. >> So will we do 26 27? >> I do it in the fall or in August >> for those transition days. >> Is that Do
014you feel like that's enough for them? >> I do. I've talked to all of them. Um, Jenny will be doing the preschool will get move people who move into the district. Jenny will kind of start an evaluation process for IEP. So, I asked her, she said about 10 would work and then that gives her also a little bit of time to transition to hand. So, she thought between the two of them they could cover new students coming in and transition. Are there any other questions on the consent agenda? >> If not, there >> I'll second it. >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. >> Mr. Livingham. >> Yes. Mr. Nickel. Yes. Mrs. Burns. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Atkins. >> Yes. >> Item 26. Um, AB C are administrative contracts. Um, A is for Morgan Carter for assistant
015principal. Is there a motion for that? So move. Mr. L. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nichol, >> yes. >> Mrs. Burns, >> yes. >> Mrs. >> Yes. >> Mr. Ph. >> Yes. >> Item B, approve system clarification. Uh, on item N, the consent agenda. It said that was sections 10 through 24, but then here it says it's through 25. >> Yeah. Yes, that was an error. >> So, are we including the 25 with the consent agenda or we can talk about it? >> I make the motion to include it in the consent agenda. >> We just add it to cons agenda. Yes. >> Mr. Nichol. >> Yes. >> Mr. Burns. >> Yes. >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. >> Administrative contracts. Item A. Is there a motion? We did that, too. >> Okay. >> Yeah, we're good.
016Item B approves the U bridge contract for Kenneth Hall, director of facilities. Is there a motion for you? >> Yes. This will be because Kenneth, who's here today, so if you haven't met him, um, super happy to get him June 1st. He will have a bridge contract for June and July because administrative contracts start August 1st. Since he's coming on a little early, we're just going to pay the premium rate June and July. And then his annual contract and three-year contract would start August 1. We're good. >> Good to have you. >> Y congratulations. >> Motion second. >> Mrs. Burns. >> Yes. >> Mrs. >> Yes. >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nichl. >> Yes. >> And then item C approves Ashley Thompson. CAO as presented. Is there a motion
017to that? >> Second. >> Mrs. Atkins. >> Yes. >> Mr. Ps. >> Yes. >> Mr. Le. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nichol. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Burns. >> Yes. >> Thanks for meeting. >> Thank you. Congratulations. >> Have a good one. Have a good vacation. >> Oh, I will. We draw the first >> celebration day. >> Item 27 are certified contracts. Item A, approves contract Arthur. Item B, Kristen Zar, and item C is Lisa Steman. Any questions on that? If not, >> Kristen served in that role this year. Correct. >> Yes, that position has been paid by the mental health and recovery board project aware grant. The project aware grant up. So we are going to get it for another year. So the idea is that Kristen will teach Jenny Burton how to run the system
018over the course of the next year. >> Any other questions? If not, is there a motion? >> I'll make a motion. Second, >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nichol. >> Yes. >> Mrs. B. >> Yes. Mr. >> Yes. Uh part B of 27 uh approves the following certified personnel for the 26 27 minutes. >> Several of them. Is there any questions at the top? Is there a motion? What? Motion 27. I'll make the motion. >> Second, >> Mr. Lea. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nichl. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Burns. >> Abstain. >> Mrs. Atkins. >> Yes. >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. And item 28A is a list of classified classified personnel for the 26 27 school year as presented on there as well. Is there a motion for the move? Second.
019Mr. Nichl, >> yes. Mr. Burns, >> yes. >> Mrs. Atkins, >> yes. >> Mr. Phelps, >> yes. Mr. >> Yes. >> Then item B 28, approve miscellaneous contracts. Is there a motion for that one as well? So move. I'll second it. >> Mrs. Burns, >> yes. >> Mrs. Atkins, >> yes. >> Mr. Phelps, >> yes. Mr. >> Yes. Item 29 is amendments. This is an amendment to the owner architectural agreement with Herman Miller Miller and Associates for the high school middle school innovation project. This was basically just the additional design and architectural work that they >> Yeah, they increase. >> Is there a motion? I'll move the motion. I'll second. Mrs. Atkins, >> yes. >> Mr. Phelps, >> yes. >> Mr. Lut, >> yes. >> Mr. Nichl, >> yes. Mrs. Barnes, >> yes. >> Item
02030 is the access drive approval awarding contract of the vans estimating for the access drive project and authorizing access of the contract. This is a long time getting to a road. >> I know. >> Is there a motion? >> No move. >> I'll second. >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. >> Mr. Living. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nichl. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Burns. >> Yes. >> Mr. happens. >> Yes. >> Um 31 approves the quote for 25829 for bands for bleacher pad >> as well. >> And this is to complete the >> bleachers for the band and and get be able to start. >> Have we spoke with anybody on the fencing? Have we looked at that yet? Yeah, because I was wondering to know like how big do we want to make this pad for the
021band and then we'll have to fence around it. And we did save the sliding gate to see if that would work there or >> Oh, that sliding gate would be wonderful. >> I love >> while it's on campus. >> And that quote also includes the >> steps. Was there >> and we did take that out to several different bids. I mean, >> Mr. Living, >> yes. >> Mr. Nichol, >> yes. >> Mr. Burns, >> yes. >> Mrs. Atkins, >> yes. >> Mr. Phelps, >> yes. >> Then 32 approves a authorizing an agreement with the vans estimating for the baseball field improvement project as presented. Is there is there any questions on this? Is this just for the basic quote or any of the other options? >> This is filled with irrigation and halo around. >>
022I voice my objection to the irrigation and we can move on from there. And I think we can kind of work with some private public partnerships on some of it maybe to to help out with some of the or I don't know if the boosters have been included in any of the design or anything. I know they helped a little bit on the salt pole. I don't know if that's a situation. >> They are paying for the netting system for baseball. They committed to that. >> Okay. >> Is that what they did on the salt pool? >> Yeah. And then we felt it was equitable to if we did the halo around the home plate of the girls we did it for a long ways and so we are going to have I'm continuing to
023get sponsorship money that can help cover things like that. Um we would need to order that with the rest of the terms. So that's why it's important to order it now and approve it now. As far as that the irrigation goes, does this was that designed was that to replace the irrigation the existing irrigation line? I believe they would have to >> when it goes from the weld to the >> correct. >> My understanding was that when they go in and do the grading on the outfield, we're going to have to move replace that line. I don't know if that line is included in the vans contract if that's in the in the irrigation install of the baseball outfield. I think it's a is a 3inch line that goes and feeds the practice fields. >>
024Yeah, it comes right off the back of the pump house and cuts pretty much straight across the warning track. There's a valve. There's a spot in the morning track. You can see as well before I run pretty much half >> kind of runs to center and then it turns and goes through the right field. >> Yeah. Don't know where where that is in the scope. Pretty sure they were aware of it. >> We don't know if it's included in this 577. The drain's going to go to >> where's the drain? >> Uh towards the elementary take a linear line back down to the house. >> Excuse me. >> How are they getting from the hill down to the elementary? >> Hope tile. We run it without on top to go into the the line. >>
025I would that that's exactly >> I would assume it's going to daylight somewhere outside of that hill toward the ditch. Definitely check. >> Yeah, >> that'd make the most sense. >> Any other questions on the baseball field improvements? right there. >> I think I think it's what is it on the softball field? Is it 12 in? >> 12 in. >> It is in that and it's >> the drainage on the basically on the infield. >> That's what we're That's what we'll be out of the drainage on the infield turf the master turf side of it. I don't know if it's a 12 or eight. >> It's a 12. >> I did see that. >> Motion second. >> Mr. Nichol, >> yes. Mr. Burns. >> Yes. >> Mr. Atkins. >> Yes. >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes.
026>> Mr. Living. >> Yes. >> Item 33 of our change orders and it approves installation of the flag pool. That's where >> correct. Yep. That's a is there a motion? >> Motion. >> Mr. Burns. >> Yes. >> Phelps. >> Yes. >> Nickel. >> Yes. And item B of or part B of item 33 approves the change order for phase two of the high school middle school renovations for the music group has been submitted. Do they think that'll get or how as far as completion goes where the will be at for completion? >> I do not believe the acoustic tile will be in on time because of how delay time we're ordering. So we may not have acoustic tile in like we will have occupancy for that room but all the pieces and parts like some
027of the furniture that they want they want some bio cabinets that you can stick music holders into. We may not have that in time but the room will be usable. >> Did they say when they might be able to get those installed? >> We're talking about the acoustic tiles. Those are just the ones that hang on the wall kind of separately just for sound dipping. It's it's not acoustic like a whole ceiling or anything like that, right? >> The ceiling I believe will be in because it's all these kind of >> Yeah. >> different shapes and I don't know if they have acoustic quality to that ceiling tile they're putting in, but they're more talking about what's on the walls and what's on the bulkhead. >> Something you're going to be able to go in
028and install on the weekend or after school or something like that without tearing anything else up. >> Yeah. Not a difficult install. Did they say what the lead time was for? >> Um I can't recall off the top of my head, but he just said like once it's approved, they'll order it, but it it we will not start school with it. Um and then they are looking at like some different flooring options to potentially reduce cost a little bit. And there is $8,000 of owner's contingency slash owner's allowance in here. And the thought is we're not going to get into anything that is going to eat up a contingency. Like they aren't thinking they're going to have surprises when they, you know, do this project. It's more of a rena than it is like a
029refresh than it is I would rip something out and find new. >> This will be a complete flooring, complete ceiling, >> paint, acoustic tile, >> cabinetry, >> some cabinetry. This is not furniture. This is not chairs. So, we will have to purchase chairs. Um, but yeah, in the Ford update, you saw like the rubber floor. It looks like what is in the elementary school new edition, um, they're trying to source a a cheaper price for that, but same quality. >> Yes. >> So, yeah, it'll be it'll be nice and it will cover up what was done to the ceiling last summer. So, the existing ceiling remains, but then they put a kind of a ceiling below that that it has some cool lighting built into the ceiling. You won't see all the pipes. Is there
030a motion for the music renovation? I'll make a motion. I'll second it. >> Mrs. Atkins, >> yes. >> Mr. Phelps, >> yes. Mr. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nichol, >> yes. Mrs. Burns, >> yes. >> Item 34. Um, it approves the 330,000 to purchase a school board for the stadium on the future athletic sponsorship. >> Mr. Chapman, would you like to kind of explain how we got here? So, I have reached out to three sponsors so far who have committed funds to us and we're in the process of getting a contract agreement. Um, and one of those partners wanted to see what scoreboard we selected before they sign the contract and we go into agreement with them. But with these three comebacks that would cover the cost of the scoreboard. Um so we are actively working
031on those contract agreements with our partners. The buildings and grounds committee met last Wednesday. We had three scoreboard vendors present to us. Um and I think they were we came of two of the three we were interested in. Um, so Bray is talking to schools who have both of those types of scoreboards and getting feedback on like quality resolution, sound system, use um, like ease of use of the software to put the display up on the digital scoreboard and then also something really important is just maintenance. So if you have an issue, how quickly do you get somebody out there to resolve your issue? So he is doing that research right now and I hope to connect with him at the end of the week to say like help me understand what you found out
032and then make recommendation about what we think we should do moving forward. So the goal would be to have that scoreboard in place on the stadium field for the start of that fall athletic season. So, um, it's important that we kind of make this decision, work with our three sponsors who have interest in supporting the scoreboard and then get it ordered so we can get it installed. >> Who who runs the scoreboard? >> They have students on the scoreboard, but the ones we were looking at have both a digital display and more of a static scoreboard. So, it's just a lit scoreboard. It's not digital. So that if you had a JB football game, they could just use the scoreboard as just a normal scoreboard and they don't have to run the digital display. Um
033sometimes I think you can run the digital display just looping student pictures, ads from sponsors like that and nobody really has to do anything more than just hit play and it just loops. Um or you know you could be looping your sponsors or doing you know student pictures during a football game and then you have a touchdown. Somebody can break in and hit touchdown and you know it shows on your display. So um there are two vendors. There's an EPCO vendor and vendor. So we're trying to see like just for the lay person to kind of pick it up and use it which one is more intuitive and user friendly. Um so that's what we're looking into. Is that something like grade watches over or is it? >> So I think we may have some,
034you know, community people who are techsavvy who may step up just like I'm the announcer for football games. Maybe I'm the person who runs a digital display. Maybe we have some tech staff and we do have techsavvy students who could be taught to do that. Um so yeah, I think we have a lot of options for people to run. There are a lot of schools that are taking that scoreboard video type situation and turning it into some type of class learning or is it authentic? >> I can see it potentially like if it was going to be for if it's going to be credit bearing um would be maybe out of our business program where we could do like a marketing type independent study and a student would learn how to use it and maybe
035it's an independent study for them. I do think there's good career development possibility there. I don't know that we could operate a course around it >> because it would have to align to like career tech standards. Those are pretty tight, but um like an independent study for a student to do it around marketing. I can see that as >> there's still opportunity there. >> There is and some real world opportunity there. I like it. >> Awesome. How quickly did that? So once we improve like allocating the funds toward it, now we just have to I hope by the end of the week have the vendor that we want and we have them then draw up a real design, real pricing, like really get down in the weeds with it so that I can give that
036to these sponsors so that we can get in contract with them. And as soon as we get in contract with them, then I think we can place an order. So I think we're two weeks out from being able to accomplish that. >> Can you provide clarity? I love that we have sponsors who are paying and covering this cost. I think that's commendable. Are we giving them the what if one vendor likes this one but the other one or the one sponsor likes this one the other one likes this one? Are we giving them that? >> We're going to present this is the one that we like. >> Okay. >> And then if they have concerns about how their logo appears on that, I think we can adjust how their lo color size. They don't have
037the rights to choose what we're doing. >> They just wanted to get I mean I think before they put their name on it, they just want to make sure >> the main sponsorship logos would be a static sign. >> Yeah. Yeah. I think they just want to see like we're actually doing it and you know they can kind of see where their you know ad is going to be before they commit. >> And this does include 24 second clocks also, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. The one concern I have is that um if we're going to have to tear up part of the field of playing surface, >> yes, >> to wire clock or storeboard or set any of that, >> we got to get it done within a year so we can have fields
038ready to go by. >> Yeah. Now the vendor said if you could order within like the next two weeks like let's get this moving. So that's going to be our push to get it all put together. Do they realize with this code if they cut across the field what that repair cost is going to be? >> I don't know. We didn't discuss that. >> It's just not full of the trench. >> How invasive is it? They how invasive in the building the grounds meeting there was a question on and I believe we'd have to check with with Garmin or whatever. Uh Chris was thinking that there was conduit in place for >> you >> for the endzone score clocks or endzone time clocks. I'm not sure. I'm not 100%. Um but that would be something
039that would be >> well Chris Nickel was in building and he was he was thinking that they already ran the conduit that but I'm not sure. If they didn't, >> if they didn't, I would assume um I think there will be conduit need needing to be ran over to the press box or the home side for a data cable or >> whatever it is. >> But I I believe it it would probably be more. >> Yeah. >> And then both I think every all the contractor or the people that presented were aware that the track's brand new. So, >> and there's electric under the door. >> And there's electric. Yes. >> So, I mean I think and that I believe that's that's installed on everything. Correct. >> Correct. >> I beam install. >> That's all
040new I beam. Oh, wait. >> And post. I mean, these I beams get painted or they still believe in the quote they were painted black. That'd >> be good. So does the 330 then is that the threshold like they're going to once they've designed it and actually like make it personalized to us it will be either at or under 330. >> Correct. >> Okay. >> So that was like if we took the top quote that we had of the three vendors that was the highest. So if we don't have to go to 330 we're >> good with that. Um, but that would be kind of the highest price that we received for what we were looking for. I >> think the current scoreboard that's up there is at least 20 years old. I think >>
041or more. >> That's I don't It's >> as old as Morgan. Okay. Uh, and there are some issues. I think there are some parts that if we there are some repairs to that scoreboard if we do not. Yeah, we chose not to do those repairs this last season in anticipation of this, but if if we kept it, it's going to be dollar spent on it. In the presentations, there were um you know, especially with that video board, that gives you a lot of flexibility on if there's a track meet, you can you can advertise sponsors during the track meet up there on the board. You can do I mean it's >> you can do yeah soccer they talk about a lot of schools >> graduation >> a movie in the stadium like there's lots of
042things that you could >> do with that >> there's lots of things that I cannot do with that but I'm sure there's someone else the guy that runs the school >> I have trouble with a time clock at all. But they were all great presentations and they all were very I thought they were all very confident that if we come in with a timeline in the next week or two of being able to order the equipment that it would be in we would not have a coming soon sign for the scoreboard. And there'll be electric to it. >> We know what electric is. >> Any other questions about the school? If not, is there a motion? >> I'll second. >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. >> Mr. Living. >> Yes. >> Mr. Mr. Neckron. >> Yes.
043>> Mr. Burns. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Atkins. >> Yes. >> Then item B, I'm sorry, uh, on 34, uh, part B, uh, authorizes the superintendent to enter into sponsorship agreements. Is there a motion? >> Move. Second. Yes, >> Mr. Nichol. >> Yes, Mrs. Burns. >> Yes, >> Mrs. Atkins. >> Yes, >> Mr. Phobs. >> Yes. >> Item 35A approves uh welfare uh special education residential related service agreements 26 27 school year. Can you share a little bit what that is? Um this is a continuation of the student who was having some residential services this year. So the IEP team agreed that another year would be appropriate for the student placement. >> This is the last year we were required to supply this. So >> the IEP team makes that decision. Um but you know the
044goal is always to have a student least restrictive environment. So the IEP team is always looking at what is least restrictive. So they be they will convene in April of 27 to make a determination about what is the best environment for the student for the following school year. >> So when we say 26 27 school year we're talking about through May of next year maybe potentially June >> was 195 195 days. >> Yeah. Is there a motion for part A of item 35? >> I'll make the motion. I'll second >> Mr. Nichol. >> Yes. >> Mr. Barnes. >> Yes. >> Mr. Zens. >> Yes. >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. Mot. >> Yes. >> Part B of item 35 approves a contract for contract for services with new story schools for the 26 27 school year
045as presented as well. Is there a motion question and new story is is more of a traditional >> morning just day school situation and we're transporting as well. Where's that? Where is it located? >> How many students do we have? >> Um I don't have a question. >> Just this one. We have one or two. >> Yeah, that's right. 270. >> I've seen the bus. You know where the Spectrum store is in that little strip mall there? I went to this bedroom store one day and my bus was running right behind it there in the street behind it. So it's basically right behind that little strip mall right at before you get to 161. >> What kind of age age range do they have? Is it primarily >> I believe all ages but they have
046to separate them by grade bands. So we have law and students should not be you know so close in age so they have to spend them out by great bands but we've had high school middle school student there and elementary school students there is a motion Second. >> Mrs. Burns. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Atkins. >> Yes. >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Mr. Ripple. >> Yes. Item 36 is the donation of 25,000 to the athletic department. Is there a motion? Mrs. Atkins. >> Yes. >> Mr. Phillips. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nar. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nichl. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Ms. >> Yes. >> Item 37 is an incident response plan as presented. >> This is all like cyber related. >> Yeah. Ransomware. So if >> this is is this some
047of the >> house bill 96 requirements um we have a lot of like student data privacy legislation, cyber security legislation. We had to have a plan that we had ransomware where someone was holding data for ransom. There are specific protocols we have to follow, people we have to report to at the state level. So it lays out that protocol. >> Is that an annual thing or is this something that once we >> I think this is it >> once we get it in policy or >> Yeah, we built it and Steve Smith has done an amazing job leading all of this house 96 work. Um so once we have it built then it's in place until they >> until they change the law >> or cyber security changes which could happen tomorrow. >> There any
048other questions? If not is there motion second >> Mr. Fox? >> Yes. Yes. >> Mr. Nichol, >> yes. Mrs. Barnes, >> yes. >> Item 38A is educational consult contract with Stephanie Bartman and she has been >> she's been with us. >> Yeah. As presented as her motion. Mr. Van, >> yes. >> Mr. Nichol, >> yes. >> Mr. Burns, >> yes. >> Mrs. Atkins, >> yes. >> And item B, I'm sorry. Part B of item 38 is another contract with Lindsy Keys for the same service as she is new. >> She's new to us. Is there a motion for a motion? >> Second. >> Mr. Nichl. >> Yes. >> Mrs. B. >> Yes. >> Mr. Bkins. >> Yes. >> Mr. Fel. >> Yes. Mr. Item 39 is a discussion item. >> Good job presenting the friends
049of Fairbanks at the senior awards. Mr. Nickel and Mr. Looking I didn't do it, but it was it is fun. I think like the Did Mr. Omni say there was almost $2 million worth of scholarships awarded to our senior class. >> So, and that's what 87 students >> 86 87. >> So, >> that's what Kelly asked. How many people that presented? I told her 20 or 25 that presented. That's probably an >> accurate number. >> Pretty impressive. Thank you. >> Well, that number it's the all >> Yeah. all in >> all in education grants, scholarship. >> So, who oversees that ceremony and like engaging with those partners? >> Um, so the high school guidance office, so Renee and Lynn, um, we gather all that information and communicate with them and Jerry Oney is involved too.
050>> Yeah, thank you. >> Very much so. >> And our sponsors for the athletic side, too. Any other discussion items? If not, committee reports to >> I have tolls. So, um this is from Tls. Um so, workbased learning remains one of TOL's strongest strategic advantages because of the relationships they built with private sector partners. A significant number of their senior students are able to extend their learning beyond the classroom. During the 2526 school year, as of May 7, 2026, total students have earned one over a million dollars and has accumulated $63,23 in workbased learning environments. Um, on May 5th, Touls held its 2026 signing day ceremony. During the event, 74 students signed with employers and/or the United States military. Signing day is always one of the highlights of the school year. for the 2627 school
051year. Um, at this point, 973 students have accepted offers as in first year programs for the upcoming school year. So, combined with current firstear students who plan to return next year, they will have between 14 and,500 students participating in main campus career tech programming next year. And their $30 million campus expansion is one of the most significant investments in Tol's history. The project includes approximately 50,000 square feet of new instructional space designed to support growing student demand in pre- nursing, early childhood education, welding, and construction. Tols recently earned an overall five-star rating at the Ohio on the Ohio School District report card. So, congratulations to them. And they were designated as a purple star school for supporting military connected students and families. And lastly, um, TOL's adult education has earned national accreditation through the Council
052on Occupational Education, which is a significant milestone for TOEFLs. And several adult training opportunities in advanced manufacturing will be available in June. >> Their enrollment is increasing significantly. >> When I came five years ago, they had about 600 students. Now, those students went all day. So by splitting students now most students go half data were able to more than double the number of students who can be touched by career tech. Um so that's you know why they're adding on a 50,000 square foot expansion >> legislative report. >> Um so both chambers of the assembly were on spring recess for some parts of April and we just got back last week. So, a lot of the same stuff. Um, as Erin mentioned, watching House Bill 420. Also, the big thing is the coalition um Ohioans to
053protect public services that looks at um eliminating property tax, making sure citizens are aware, still gaining, um, tractions out there. Um gosh, probably a couple meetings ago, uh I talked about House Bill 420 or 462, which allows students to take the epinephrine pen with them. That's now on the governor's desk for signature. So that could change expected to. Um, another one to really watch, I think, for us is House Bill 609. This bill impacts specifically open meetings. um and was introduced after a lot of complaints of various public bodies not allowing public testimony. So, this bill would now require that a public body allow for public commentary and testimony at least once per meeting uh before taking a vote. So, um we'll want to watch for that to make sure that we don't need to
054change any policy requirements for that. Is that it? >> Good job. >> Student achievement. Uh the reports are in your folder. Not a lot of you quite honestly finishing up the school year basically. But just to give you a little idea of what the principles go through. I got an email from Ashley when she sent hers. It was a little bit late but she says uh sorry I haven't been shared with you before now. Been a lot of long days lately. I don't know who thought it would be a good idea to have kindergarten roundup safety count rocket launches fifth grade orientation at middle school. two field trips, end of the year staffing, green cards, and the purchase and parrying all in the same week. And then she goes on to give her reports. So
055you can read the reports. >> She can blame it on the CEO next year. >> We participate in the care training every year. It started off the gym supply four students for four hours a day. whoever bought the packages and it was kind of a competition between Mary'sville 14 and us. It's a drop downfield. It's Mary'sville and us and it's become basically the call of the high mulch supplies of skin mulch and you go lay the mulch down for so group do that. That project was completed yesterday. Nice job. House is the one in Mary'sville right behind Dave's pharmacy. So take a look. How much mulching did you do? >> I did very little actually. They they had it all under control. I sat down and stepped and rested. >> There you go. Supervised. >>
056And uh there were a set of twins there. One of them said, "Well, you've done quite a bit for your age." So, >> did he walk? >> Huh? >> Did he walk there? >> No. >> He's got wheels. >> Oh, he got wheels again. lady was very appreciative. She had cool full water and she goes and donuts. >> Wow, that's nice. >> Nice. Good job, Louis. All good grounds. >> I think we pretty well covered most all building. >> Great. Uh it it is exciting. I mean I think that the district should be pretty proud that um the rest of that phase two master plan is is coming into full effect this summer. Hopefully just this summer. But u I mean it's it's an exciting time. There is going to be a lot of activity
057across the across the campus this summer for sure. So hopefully our administrators and every everyone are coordinating that >> as we go into pre-construction for the road. Um we'll be pushing out communication to our school community about just safety on campus, traffic patterns. Uh because there is with building that road is going to be a lot of you know promotion on our campus and baseball happening, new roof >> camps. There's going >> camps going on. And so, um, as we have these meetings the end of this month, we'll really come up with a plan that we'll share out about safety. >> I know we said when we start the baseball times right after graduation. When are we actually starting road? >> I don't know that we know that exactly because um of the contractor who's
058doing both road and baseball. I think that we will have to have a pre-construction meeting and and get that timeline and I don't have that yet. >> Yes, >> like that. >> It is. >> Gray and I have been in communication and I said that may or may not happen. Um, >> but I I don't have those answers yet because we just voted on it. You voted on it, not me. Tonight. So now tomorrow I have a nudge in my Google calendar that says reach out to Ted and get a pre-construction meeting set up for these projects. >> And then um I believe Aiden are building and grounds maintenance will be starting >> June 1st. And so, um, we, Kenneth and I and Aiden will be getting on a gator, Greg, maybe a board member
059who knows our campus well, and getting a lay of the land and kind of setting some top priorities for their work. Um, and kind of set some five-year goals about what we want to see improve over time. Um, the custodians do have a summer schedule. Um, and it's one they follow forever as far as stripping, waxing areas that they go to. So I met with them and then we are looking to hire a second ship custodian to replace what Aiden was doing. So we are actively picking somebody for them. I'll do interviews next week. I don't believe there is executive session this evening. So that brings us to Is there a motion >> second? >> Yes. >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. >> Mr. I would have passed to the vice president.
