001Join me for a moment of by the pledge, please it stands one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Item five is public participation and this evening we do have public participation Mr. Bley and he is running for county. >> Thank you. I just want to come by and thank you for your service because work for election is hard apparently. I didn't know that. I thank you for your service and I'm just going to listen to our conservatives that the board has and everyone knows who I am. >> Thank you for stopping. >> Y item six is approval of the agenda. >> Yes. Yes. >> All right. Good evening. Um, with all of our upcoming projects this spring and summer, I've invited Carmen Miller to come share um about our progress and um answer
002questions from the board about upcoming projects and cost and timelines and all those things. I will turn it over to Ted. >> Evening everyone. So Janelle asked him to come in. We give a summary of for the bigger projects and also several of the questions ongoing questions about history of that stand field where that music renovation had last Friday. Uh a little bit about the gym window replacement and back where we kept here. Another one I think go back through the history a little bit to understand how we got where we are on that and looking at the options going forward. um just talk a little bit about the design process and then come back and uh pull out some of the law graphics that we had uh just to go through that. That was
003in the original scope of the proposal. So not anything we're adding. Let's just what's what's been uh so to start with uh the access room um you're prepared to start fitting to go out on that next the regulatory kind of run at the same time there uh that will be targeting you can see up here right board action for your April uh board meeting. So that's what we anticipate there construction May 25th first day after after graduation asterisk there because depending on how we discuss that some some stuff could start potentially a little bit earlier um staging some of the preliminary work but April 14th um that schedule. I think the one thing that's out there that I think we need to make sure we're all on the same page on is uh the ODOT
004development agreement letter that they've asked you to sign. Um I think there's some question from from whether that's even necessary or not. I think we're we can push forward with this process, but I think we're whether that needs to be signed or not, I think we're kind of out of our expertise, I guess, a little bit. So, that would be up to so the cost estimates that we've got down here are they're estimates that are estimates. They're not good numbers. Um, but They were accurate as of today as 1.1 for the access road and then staff parking piece which we would want to out that flexibility is around 300,000 I will add this is we talked with Sam attorney this project has will have to be publicly So, uh it will be a close close
005bit situation. >> Kevin, that's parking. Is that the area between the middle school and high school? >> Yes. Didn't pull out the full engineering drawings, but this is generally what this is the non-engineering engineered version of what will be those So I think a lot of you have seen this but coming off of the existing um the north drive um out to the old soccer fields uh future detention areas identified for for future development here. This area is where the longterm plan is to get second access to 38 moving around here allowing space for development there. So this is using essentially using the existing out there. So we got two lanes, two drop off lanes in circulating out, two drop off lanes out that is kind of to allow for cars to not get stuck
006in the line having passing more or less from people. closer to the entrance there. So that's using the existing existing project there. And then the staff parking piece uh we go in between the uh existing elementary school and middle school grass area that's in there. So keeps a perimeter around that staff pulling in there to get out of the way of circulation. This will be drop off moving up here. This will be the bus loop bus drop off loop. So keep buses around there. Can you explain that again? We got the elementary school. >> Elementary school here just sorting a little bit. I apologize. Middle school there. So you're south entry here. So um this is bus only traffic and drop off. So all kind of traffic goes that goes to the north side. Uh
007so coming in and double double stack lanes for buses around this whole area. So dropping off middle school, high school, elementary school, middle school, high school and they're separated from all the >> So the gray area in the middle is the existing grass that's now going to be parking. >> Yes. So we have grass per that space >> and this would be an alternate. >> Yes. >> For 285,000. Is that >> that's the >> So that that's an alternate outside of the cost of the campus access road. >> So >> the access road itself is not diminishing parking in any way. Um and in theory it events it's wide enough parallel park. >> What was that last part? parallel parking where the um that there's enough circulation with here that like for a football game
008let's say you have controls about it could potentially park along one side >> Ted with that drop off on the one side if we don't do the parking in between there is there you'll still keep the parking as it is now in that drop off area. Yes, >> there's another factor. >> Yeah, that's we actually did look at that. Um, one of the things that we explored a little bit with there old school here and still have space to get buses through balancing out some of those but it was preferred to keep buses keep that clear running across there. Same with the other side where cars are coming into the access road to do the drop off. There's still those parking spots there or will those be taken out? >> They're still there. Thank you.
009How wide a >> when you start talking about parallel parking typically slide off >> like are they get mud >> I don't have a technical answer that right now I can find T and then is dividers. You have the two lanes of traffic going through. >> Yes. >> Um we talked about the preference of not having a BM or something that a plow can hit. I think we talked about that. >> Yes. >> So are we just striping or are we doing like >> right now the intent is to stripe it and have the ability to put there during off times for that reason. not having something. >> Uh, next touch on baseball. So, I think as as many of you know, the baseball design was effectively completed last September and we pulled it off
010the out of the package with the softball that's going in now. So, have a completed design. Um, and so with baseball, we procure the proposal similar to how we did softball. So just go out, it's a little less laborious. We just go out get we don't even really need what we want. So it streamlines that process a little bit. purchasing things on a lot of that stuff. We would target so at April 20th or date for approval. the I think the actual construction really would need to get going July the turf order probably more more pressing thing but we're not pushing up against the fall season there that's 11th is the end date start there that's the week after Labor Day we're not we're not a hard stop there but we want to get into
011September to see the outfield that's first week or so as September is um based on and I did ask to those numbers again. We actually have we know what the numbers were the first time to verify some of that. We hit it as spot. We're about 575 right now. Where were we at? I thought we were around. Well, that was it was I have to go back and look how much was pulled out of that proposal once we split them out. But we do have number that they us and we didn't include that same number was 435 I think. That's basically redoing the entire >> raising up right and left field. >> So I pull the whole set. I only pull one, but that would be um so turf infield. There's some adjustments to that.
012A little more depth, a little more length there. So that's where you see all here. Some of that has to happen to support the curve that in the right amount of fields fix the grading issues that are there and fencing. So that time included then that's what you're doing right outfield also include drainage or irrigation. Um, I don't believe we're we're addressing that in the aled and that's not irrigation. It's not quite the turf field I think is all all the similar options that you look at for softball kind of it's same proposal for product graphics options all those sorts of Any other questions on Facebook? Um, use room improvement. So, we've been kind of working this um few design meetings. We have a review on Friday. There are a few questions out there. So,
013this is there's still a few online answered questions here, but I'll run through a couple of the drawings. We're doing this as a as a change order to Albert's current contract. They'll be going on while they're here finishing up the middle school this summer. They'll have most of those trades people already out here doing. So in this case it makes sense to do that. But there's there's still some loose ends but my rough estimations when I pulled it this morning was 4800. So um I think it started discussion started with got this exposed account equipment that I went in and nothing's like it's all exposed nothing's been upgraded here. Um started looking at storage issues that they have other flows that they have stuff that they're missing. So they got the original lighting um the
014HVC is all exposed. They got the original popcorn ceiling. They got some other other panels that are holding the main. So start with architectural plan. This is where we're at right now. Um we are changing the the front entry doors are rough shape and reconfiguring um how they use these offices now. So closed up a couple openings here. So they have more service area for teaching wall teaching walls. Um getting the door that center here utilizing storage right now for offices. Uh that's one thing that came out of our first design meeting. There's some questions about that. The second assign still the other thing that's not shown here closed up yet, but closing up getting more some instruments that's out here. We're getting uh more efficiency of the instrument storage here. We're closing up the
015hallway to that right now. So ceilings in the offices that's below kind of pretty ceiling. There's not a whole lot you can do with that. So just replacing the lighting one there storage ceiling replacing the lighting. Uh so we've got uh in the main room, you know, mechanical units up here, double just goes down here. So, we're putting soft around. We're also getting the face of the wall here, which is the older panels, pulling those off, putting vinyl down there. Lighting wise, we're throwing some light with this bar on that wall. that we're coming in um leaving the popcorn ceiling intact. We're coming in about six inches below that with ceiling that's kind of cover up all the piping that's here. Um and lets us drop the panels help with the sound. That's a music
016used for a lot of different things getting different absorption. So we got absorb walls in the next view. Uh the light fixtures that are in here. I did not bring those but offset. You see that they're angular reflective panel as well as light. And then just sort of interior wise. So we've got little rubber rubber flooring put in. So rubber flooring up in there is a little more will be a little more absorb in there as well. Hopefully the sidewalls there and then what I mentioned here earlier. So closing up that door. Um it's a combination of some of the storage cabinets that's out now and some new partial storage cabinets about 5050 in that space but the max storage in there. I know from the last meeting they did say we had some distortion
017running down this one point uh they did say that they use this practice that that center um some of the other scope that's not shown on these drawings there's no there's no sound system in that room right now. So we've got uh working on sound system design speakers. Any questions on that please? So this is couple pictures of this one. This is just kind of history slide. So I'm sure you know the original GMP produced in 2025 for the gym to replace the gym windows for $35,000 works worked through this developer to figure out how we wound up. the proposal that they sent over a month or so ago was $50,000. Um, but I pushed back on a few things until I found out. So, the abatement was known at the time they did the
018first GMP. They just they missed it. said there was an abatement line item for the rest of the building in the GMP but it didn't get carried over as line one of the things they accounted for in the proposal for protection that was something they missed in the first one they didn't really think through how they were going to install those windows so they missed that um have you taken that alternate those misses probably would have been able to use CMR. Uh so we're going to push back. This is new as of about two hours ago. Um they did drop the uh for protection from uh their new proposal here. Some of the cost It's got a little over 45,000. Now they got the abatement in the abatement plus 6,000 cost over what the they
019got part of the the overall number. So back up and just their storefront material cost 17% I think that's that's quotes that they have directly from that but I think this is really a standalone item. So whether I in the end I think there's a little bit of a menu here and you can decide what's most important to I have a couple of questions. the condition of the gym windows. When you did like the baseline assessment of our facilities, what is the condition of the gym windows? >> They would need to be replaced. They're they were in better they're in better condition than any of the other windows we're building, but they're also that age. They're not thermal broken energy efficient. And then what does the replacement look like? So when we say need floor
020protection and we are concerned about shutting the gym down you know over the summer um are they removal from the inside from the outside like what does that look like? >> It would be it would be removal from the inside. I think there will be some outside work as well but I think it's generally coming from the inside. the flow protection is um so to access those we're looking right up here they'll need to bring in lifts to get up in there so it's putting down it's carbs to keep it from getting all over the place but it's also plywood >> and we discussed a fiveweek window of trying to concurrently do the window replacement with the HVAC replacement in the gym Yes. Um, and I don't Isaac here may be able to see a
021little bit the actual replacement the HC in the gym I don't think is very invasive at all gym replacement of the HBC about as one to one as we possibly get especially for this building a little bit more inside And that's really brief top. >> Two units placed exact location. Are we looking at a fivewe over the gym will be shut down or potentially be left? >> It's all going to depend on >> I'm sorry. Can Can you stand up? I can't I'm having a hard time hearing. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> Thank you. >> I can't even see you. Yeah, it's all going to depend if the crates which all that but if all things were perfect in a perfect world especially the high school should be fair I don't speak I think I
022would similar window for window similar window of time. I think with all with both of those windows and I did hear from Alfred that they will really make the effort to when they're replacing the HBAC that they'll try to get the windows done at the same time so we limit the amount of disruption to jet usage. They seem to think that that was possible. Do these windows open or they just sell windows? The design windows I believe those are dispersed. Okay. >> Could those be tented as well? I assume we could get window tent on them. >> We could um we could order them with probably a slight up charge to order them with glass. I do I do think that this base class that you got here has a little bit of tint to
023it. probably the the easier thing to order. The other components, next one, kind of an issue that's out there pricing around is what to do about the cafeteria chase. So, a little bit of history on this one. Um, so this is this all comes from how we're feeding the the hot cool water lines to the mechanical the wall there. The original design intent was somewhat overdone in the other spaces here is come across the ceiling down the wall and service above shrouds there. Um, we got in the field we got enough RFI saying because of the folded ceiling in there and how to line with the windows that they were either going to have to run quite a lot of piping in various configurations to get it down where go down or it would be
024coming down in front of the windows. So they being far mechanical contractor they proposed coming down one location connecting which is what you see there. So um and that they offered uh to cover them up as part of that that snowalled into a discussion of so there's a light there that has to be moved how's that used talking with some staff that's the microwaves are there responding to the RFI saying that's okay let's build an 8 in deep um wall, cover up the piping, put a cap on it, abuse resistant drywall, and be done with it. In the field, that discussion became that was towards the end of July last year, but this kind of worked our way through this um discussion in the field became was we have time in the schedule to finish
025that out maybe temporarily. And far as mechanical contract run, it's to their benefit to do it this way. So they offered up to to put the shrouds up that you see now. Originally intended as the 8 inch shroud. It was a field discussion and we were given some direction to extend those shrouds in the middle so that they could serve as so that's kind of how we got to where we um those shrouds were never really intended as the as the permanent solution. Um, so we'll see. And they were there was no charge on on anything for those shrouds. So they were just part of farmer's baseline service. Um, what we did pay for those was a small I think it was $3,700 off the wall that haven't seen couple pictures here. So the options
026that that we can look at now generate a price replace the shrouds as they're configured right now with walls walls put base on them. uh just a little bit of money to deal with the electric taking it out of the shall and putting the counter top on the whole thing. you know, we have a deep shot now and the other stru,000. Another option is to leave the shrouds in place as they are the same kind of configured countertop on them. Take them off the face on them. We've got similar shrouds, vertical shrouds other places. Probably a little more aesthetic than what you see here, but now we can cut that. We estimate based on their line items that down,000. Um the other option is go with what we originally were here, which is up shrouds,
027building an 8 in wall, 8 inch off the existing wall. Um it would have a little shelf on it. Nothing coming across here. You can see just how the pipes are exposed behind the units. Just having a having a shelf across there all configuration that we did not ask that option. It would be somewhere in between those two questions or thoughts. How much are those shrouds used as a countertop? Microwaves on a couple of them right there. >> Yeah, but I don't really see them used for anything, you know, just there. They're also flexible if you push on the top give to them. >> I don't I don't believe the intent is that they would be permanent. >> I just wish we would have known that because then we wouldn't have paid the money on
028the electric. So, I'm not thinking that we knew that those weren't intended to be the permanent fixture. So, we spent money to pull that electric forward and now if we do an 8 inch wall, I'm assuming we're pulling back. But it is I think there'll be a little money to lose on that. But there was I think with all the money on the electric was there pipes was there. So there's cable through those boxes now. So the that's well what was originally designed was that they would come over top like the other rooms >> and drop down you can see like the way it's aligned like I don't know anybody that looks Um so our RFI response was directing them to build the wall. Um they there was never a price associated with that. So
029it was like we don't have a schedule to do that. I mean, for what it's worth on the electric, I think the price that gave was caring $800. Does the shroud being deeper between the units protect the units any shrouds provide protection. It's really just I guess it does cover up the control valves that are in there. So the 8 in or whatever option is the 8 in wall will have access panels at least one access panel next to each unit. That's where the control valves for the hot water. >> Yeah, you can kind of see it in this picture is they have it there now, but that will remain optional access. part of the protection still. So pull up full menu of stuff that's on here. Um anything on here, but this kind of
030the menu everything that's on here. One item that I did put up here that uh we haven't talked about tonight is Jim HC. So that's uh I think you may have talked about it a couple weeks ago. Um and gave approval for the equipment to be ordered. So we're carrying this is kind of early number we were caring for the cost of the whole installation. So those drawings so in addition to the units um there'll be some electrical rework to feed them a little bit different to the middle school like Isaac was mentioning high school they're very much plug and play. It's pulling unit off, put one back down in the same place. The middle school, it's not quite as simple. There's a little structural work that needs to a little bit of steel that
031needs to come in to try to figure out how the units are going. They're not really the way they're configured, they're not really working that effectively right now. So, there's another duct opening in the wall. I think that's is that's the number we were carrying from that we first talked about this pretty man so far. >> We feel confident that the HVAC units are going to be in in time secured those. >> They could be secured this week, I believe. Um, I will say I my experience with HBAC units arriving on time in the last year has not been that great. So I think I would ask Helford and Farmer what their concern would be with that, but I I don't think there's zero. The risk isn't zero, but they're not going to run it.
032There's some chance Is there a good question? I think it would have to be pushed off probably two weeks to do all the work. Those gyms never have a break. >> Yeah, that's the thing that school starts. There is there is no break and you're looking at say two to three week shut down. We need to ask for >> I guess that was going to be my thing. That could be a thing where come into play in 27. My last conversation with the Alfred was that they need to have them in June and that like by the end of June and that we would have the whole project complete like within the building by the end of July. So that's a timeline that's been provided to me like that is their hope to get that
033in. Well, that would be critical for I think it's probably important to let us know. Um the other one I have my address um our initial G Miller's initial proposal proposal for this project was based on a percentage of the initial budget. The initial budget for this project is 6.5 million which was the cost of fe as you know that wasn't considered restroom renovation some of these recital renovations that pushed the construction bud last summer up to about 86 I believe um we kind of absorbed that kind of within our structure was in the flow of the project. Um but I think going forward like some of the additional work that's going on that number up there 36,000 that's just that's based on percentage of the HBC and I think that's representative um That's the
034that's the only those are the only two things up here that fall into that category right now. But uh just kind of thinking we already got um a separate contract for baseball softball access already has its own GMP number. So maybe looking forward from some of the things we talked about in the past. The next thing would be science recommendations and what that looks like. Is that including the gym? >> Music and gym. Those are the two question. Also wanted to take the chance to talk about signage a little bit. This was all part of our original uh part of the original design. So it's just it's not ordered to be in last summer. So, this is vinyl graphics. So, at the high school entrance, we come in uh we've got welcome over there and
035the doors to the office there. And this is as you're walking in that high school entrance. So, Jim Hall is to the left here. the extended learning area right of this view. So this is the graphic that is going to be right field. We've got two of these, but they're intended in both the middle school and high school offices. You go into those spaces now. You see where the tile wall is similarly high school. got one internal side. So this is work area >> and these are all vinyl. >> Yes. questions. >> So that was already part of the initial >> Yes. This drawing I took from the set and it matches the shot >> colors colors. >> It was maybe not on this but any other questions for Ted and Isaac? Well, we appreciate
036you being here and walking us through all that. Would it be possible to have a copy of the slides emailed to me >> and I'll share those with the board for your reference? >> A lot of moving parts, Ted. >> It's a lot of lot of little add up to a big project. The next thing I have for you is open enrollment. So the board will be voting tonight on consideration to accept open enrollment for next school year. So I would like to share some details about our process. The Fairbanks open enrollment window will open the second Tuesday of April and closes on the first Friday in May. So this year that window will run from 8 am on Tuesday, April 14th until 4 pm on Friday, May 1st. During this time, the open enrollment
037application will be posted on our website for families to complete and submit online for each student they hope to enroll for the 2627 school year. The board will set capacity at the May regular meeting and then open enrollment decisions will be made after that. The central office will mail decision letters to families no later than July 30th and we will do our best to notify families closer to mid late June um if we have that ready so families can better prepare for the upcoming school year. Open enrollment has been limited in recent years especially at the elementary level due to some anticipated growth throughout the district. And when the central office receives calls inquiring about open enrollment, families are encouraged to apply, but also informed that space may be limited due to board set capacities,
038building space, current class sizes, and anticipated growth that could be coming to our district. Families are also informed that open enrollment is not guaranteed and families must follow the open enrollment process each year, even if they have been previously enrolled. So far this spring there seems to be more interest in open enrollment. So we do anticipate an increase in the numbers of applicants. Um open enrollment does not necessarily bring additional money into the district because we are on a guarantee. Um so these students would count like our ADM regular students like almost like they're residents of our district. Um but it does we can use open enrollment to keep our enrollment numbers steady which helps us to maintain our state funding. So that's why that's important. Um we will not however bring in students that
039requires us to add staffing. So that will be a limitation. So looking at our current enrollment for March of 2026, we're looking at 172 students and um in comparison to last year, March 2025. This and when I'm speaking of this, I'm including totals and preschool. So this March 1,72 students, last March, 1,114 students. So, there are some grade levels that could add a few students to open enrollment, which would keep our enrollment steady. Um, and I think we would look at adding to high school first and then middle school and then elementary would be our last place that we would probably look to add students. So, we'll start from high school and work our way down. We also talked about we have currently I think about 91 open enrollment students in our district. 45 of
040those are staff >> that just maybe from lower kindergarten members this year. >> Our kindergarten number was quite small. Yes. So I can number and our kindergarten this year um total we had 49 district residents and three open enroll. So we were very very small with this. >> Um based on when May I have 49 in kindergarten of district presidents and three open enrolled into kindergarten and when we look at the same numbers from March of 25 that was 73 students. So it's just a very small class. When does what is normal for is it started? >> So I think >> goes through the 31st to sign up for >> to sign up for round and then in May is when they think is when they do the whole screening and all that. >> Do
041you know how that looks so far? >> I don't. I know that we are projecting we are on target to be more normal this year. Last year was kind of anomaly. I'm not sure why. So right now we're heading toward three sections but we're still watching. Item eight is the treasur. >> Um really not anything to add. Uh probably won't give an update on the financial forecast until July or August. I don't think we'll have any information until then to really um update at that point. If we do, then I certainly will, but probably July or August for the next financial update. Um we're three three weeks into our audit. Um I do anticipate probably another two weeks. So hopefully that won't wrap up by this month. >> Are there any questions? >> Seconds. >>
042Yes. Mr. >> Yes. Item nine is consent agenda and tonight it is consent agenda and item 10 minutes February 23rd meeting. Item 11 are athletic contracts. Item 12 are classified contracts. Item 13 contract. Item 14. Item 15 is disposal. Item 16 job description. Item 16 A. Item 16 is the classified job description. Item 17A groups open enrollment for 26 27 school year. Item 19 A is policy and also B is policy is guidelines. Item 20. Item 28 approves the purchase of safety. Item 2. Item 21 A is resation actually there's four resations A C and E as presented and item 22 board transportation seven That is the end of a question. >> We aren't treating anything. >> Yeah. And the mini buses can run shorter routes for us as we have students in alternate placements.
043Um, and just having another bus that has a wheelchair that's as important as our demographics. >> Yes. Yes. >> Yes. >> Item 23 approve the membership to Ohio. >> Yes. Yes. >> Yes. >> Item 24 provide for middle school during the 26 27 year. Is this one part? what we anticipated in terms of budget. >> I was not part of those conversations last year. My understanding was that the middle school teachers could leave their classroom materials in their room and just move them away from the HA units for the summer. Um Alfred is telling me they don't want to damage teacher belongings and they're concerned about the dust from the work and so they asked that all middle school equipment teacher belongings be moved out and stored out of the classrooms this summer. So I'm
044not my understanding was but not having to sit with the tables being around the conversations was that middle school materials furniture in the classrooms because the work was not supposed to be as dirty as what the high school work was with taking out plaster. So to me this appears to be >> we did the very we did a light thing the high schools was the same company came in >> cleaned up the high schools so they could get started on construction right away >> and planes does an exceptional job cafeteria. >> So, the compromise that I was able to get is to take the furniture in here and kind of push it to walls where they will not be doing work. They are doing work right here in the center of the room and they
045will do work along that back wall. So, I have to work with Albert and Planes to know where we can put this furniture, but we can't add anything to the space for storage. Um, we can use twothirds of the middle school gym, but we are asked to cover it all with plastic and tape it down so to prevent dust getting on the belongings. And then we will use the high school cafeteria until like the end of July when the other work should be done. And then we can move the middle school materials out of the cafeteria and the high school, move them back into classrooms. And then those first couple weeks of August is when they would do their cheese while work in the cafeteria, too. in the middle school gym. >> I don't know
046what they're going to do to protect the floor, but I know that planes will protect the floor. Put the furniture down. >> Say that one more time. >> Plastic tape. >> It shouldn't be taped to the floor. I think we're just >> Yeah, I think we're just taping around the furniture and taping the seams of the plastic so dust does not get into the furniture. But I will double check the planes to ensure that there is no tape to the floor. >> I'll make >> Yes. Yes. >> I'd say my next next that bring your nominations. Item B is >> okay. So in February, I asked three companies to provide um a scope of work, a price for scope of work to both take care of the stadium field, but then also our practice fields.
047And that could include um seating, irrigation, air rating, mowing, um all of that. And so I gave them all the same scope of work. two companies responded, one chose not to respond for reasons that they had. Um, and so I've provided those to you. One of them is from Kevin Den and Kyle Travis and the other is from field source. So those were in your board packet emailed to you over the weekend. Um, a recommendation that I would provide is to consider having a field source, maintain the field, the stadium field since the grass is very new and it is still not well established. So, allow them to fertilize, seed, test, um, irrigate, and ensure that that field has a really good start because it's still in its infancy. But I think that we could
048purchase a real mower and a blower and we could mow it ourselves. And I think that Kyle Travis, who provided a quote here, would be also willing to fill in and do some mowing. When we cannot, or be on a schedule where we do some, they do some. Um, my further recommendation would be to work with um Kevin Kilpin and Kyle Travis to do some maintenance to our practice fields. So seating, irrigation, irration, um those kinds of things to maintain our practice fields. And then with the hiring of a buildings and grounds individual, that person then could do campus pling along with work. I guess between the proposals and whatnot, the empy field in my opinion would be to green light on the state. We don't right now we don't have work toward getting to
049that point out pulling pulling that back out. But as it stands right now, we don't even have a maintenance director. So I feel going into the season, spraying season's pretty important on that field as far as establishing, you know, the proper nutrients. I think they've got some deep deep time till tillage in that. There's probably going to be some additional I think there's some sand that has to be added. You know, there's going to be maintenance to that field in the spring with track being out there and whatnot. So I guess that's that's my opinion. >> So the price tag for that if I'm reading this correctly is what if field source was doing the maintenance of the field the irrigation the fertilization the tilling all of that and they were also mowing it would
050be $73,800 and that is taking out the training of our individual. So, if they really just take over the stadium field, mowing it, maintaining it, that would be $73,800. And if they were not mowing the field and they were not training our person, it would be $59,520. And that is from this document that you received >> about 90 million throughout the season. >> So how would we get a mower? >> I think the mowing was just perfect. I was going to say I think we could pull it out and say every time you go we'll pay you this set amount. So we just have to pull that out and maybe have them charge. What did you say? What's the other quote? They had stated 90. >> So I guess I guess my question that's the
051next we're going to buy a mower. I get that Kyle and Kevin would be willing to help us do that and they have access to that information and people in the industry to help us find one. >> How much? Um we allocated about 35 to $40,000 for a real au >> um just uh I think Kyle's up at north doing the same thing right now and he posted north. For 2,350 >> I think we need to be a little careful not I I'm okay with maintaining that field until we get I mean it is critical >> ideally I think that's where we want to get to >> probably >> but I've seen people I mean this thing probably needs to be moved relatively quickly. I cannot say. >> Yes. >> Mark, how long do you
052think it may take for us to procure a real >> miller? I think we can make one fairly quickly actually. >> Two weeks. Four weeks. >> Yeah. In four weeks. That's two weeks. We got experience cuts all the time. Just what what quality? And then as far as mowing the stadium field, is that something that you would do for the district? >> I do. >> What is the appetite for Kane to have the practice field or is that something that you want to see buildings around do? Mark thought process. >> I think fertilization. >> I think those are things that >> probably look a professional somewhat of a professional to come in and try to do Mr. 10 years worth of service there. I don't want them coming in days I think initial idea right
053now >> I think the side of that is there's a blower that needs to be procured for the purpose which you don't have that >> there's some equipment >> and I think you know it's one of those deals you purchase enough used equipment we're not you know we didn't we to go buy a brand new >> yeah machine >> it's going to take some time to find the right used we don't want to just go out and buy the first used So I guess where we're at maintain it until we get >> Can we drop the contract where it is option two at the 59 520 and then we price out per mo how how much it is. And then we have the first right to cancel at any time to have our staff mow
054once we get it. They do that and piece it together that way. I think I would I guess the way I would look at it. We're getting into the end of March where I would think the base rate whatever that is. Then part two of it is Brian May can help us procure that if we want to help Kyle Travis can help us do that as well. And Aaron is in hot mother. I was I'm out of business for today. >> Is that something that you wait until you have the director in place for and have them be the point to do that? We would run I don't know that they would necessarily have expertise in real mowers. Um, they could depending on who we hire, but I I think also now I would assume
055it's kind of a hot time for this equipment because it's spring and everybody's looking. Sometimes it might be a situation where they're getting new >> ones in my expertise and options. I mean, it's it's sort of one of those things where you can we have a certain budget for the moment, but if we can find the right moment that's lower than that budget, then maybe we have some of that left over to put towards that face. question. >> Yeah. >> Can I speak? >> Well, this is not process. >> Yeah. Um, >> can you email me tomorrow and I'll put it to the board? >> What about Everybody so we fertilizer. So graduation >> and part of the reason I also asked them to price mowing is just because we weren't going to hire buildings
056around individual because we were still like you know I just thought it would be a cost comparison that if we ended up deciding not to hire that position, we would have some pricing on them. >> So, do I hear a recommendation that we use um Kyle and Kevin to do the maintenance, irrigation, seeding, irration, fertilizing of the practice do have one before. >> We talked about pulling it with a gator and we have to get the right pinch. would be nice >> FFA project for somebody hitch. >> So I think that basically we need to figure out what kind of sweeper we need and then we need to understand what kind of hitch we need and we can use our meter in order to be able to move forward. We approve and do not exceed
057amount with field source and with Kyle and Kevin and so would someone want to propose a do not amount to go into contact with them and I will get contracts to reflect what we discussed today. So we took field source. I bet you the 595 when we pay per mile as we need them. So Derrick just calculated what it would be for 2000. I would just in my opinion I would run field sources numbers take care of the field If >> we get the 592, that's them not mowing. >> So, we approve that. >> Prove the 59 plus. >> Yeah. >> But not Yeah. 1500. >> Should we do it not to additional >> 14? 1428. Okay. So, we want those separate. Then we're agreeing this amount for maintenance and field. We're doing this amount
058for sure. And then a price for paying law service to maintain irrigate overseas all that except not mowing practices. What's the >> I had 12,900 that included. >> And I'm looking at this. I'm not seeing mowing factored into the backs that I added up. It is all irriation, slice feeding, irrigation, starter fertilizer. So if I total all of that and I do not think I included 12,000 9,000 11. How much are you adding the total? Yes. >> So there's schedule one and there's schedule two and a total >> on the first one 1650 So then that subtle drops down to the next. 9,000 note 950 that doesn't include correct >> one thing I would say on that is that's not including the stadium >> I think that's probably a type of material as needed probably
059the type of situation that we were working through. >> Yes, I would say I don't know. >> Contract. Yeah. these applications. I would move that we make three free service has provided and additional services on time. Yeah. Thank you. service agreements. >> Yes. Is there? >> Yes. Second would be with Kison. >> Yes. else. >> Yes. Oh, >> hey, how are you doing? >> So, the the one that came over for you guys, just give you a little context on the capital budget request we have on the search and rescue. We tried to do this a couple years ago with the same funding and we only got like a piece of it. So, we did what we could with it with our fire um training area. This time we we're going back. We got more
060letters. We've got more involvement with more uh area firehouses around us to build a search and rescue um out there so that they can train on it. So, fingers crossed. We've done a lot Todd's done a lot of good work working with legislators and stuff um trying to help us out to get that funding. So um application went in last month. So hopefully we'll hear some good news this summer about that. Um main campus enrollment currently is at 11:54. Um our peak employment uh enrollment was at 1303. Um and then in there he gave some context of where the uh changes were from each school district. Um our 2020 our 26 27 enrollment we received 117 applications from students seeking placement in level one uh for the school year and I know we sent out
061900 and some acceptance. We do have weight lists currently um with a com with combined with our level one students will advance to level two next year. We'll have over approximately 1500 students. Um we hosted open house to uh junior students for our senior rolling programs and that's going over really well especially our electrical. I think I talked to Todd last week and we were at 43 kids for electrical. Um so that one's growing really well. Um several of the programs still have available capacity, so they do still have them open for the upcoming school year. Um work's continuing on our 50k um or yeah 50,000 square foot addition to our total to campus. So with the official still on for January 1, 2027, um we'll actually be doing a walk through next month uh
062prior to our meeting to see how things are going. Our workbased learning is growing. So this is our 2 by two uh cohort program. Currently this year we have 86 students um in the program and I think next year they're trying to expand it. I know Memorial added some more um space for these students to grow that opportunity. So we're going to have well over 100 students in the 22 program. Um, so far this year, collectively, those students, those 86 students participating have completed 49,22 hours of work are earning almost $769,000. And for those who don't know what the 2 by two, there is class for two two weeks and then they're on the job site for two weeks. So, they're getting real life work experience with along the program. Um, and it's been a
063growing program ever since we started it. Just so you guys a reminder, I know they sent out invitations for the board dinner next month on the 22nd and our graduation dates for a senior certification is May 26th and May 27th. So on Tuesday, Wednesday. >> Yeah, you guys. >> I can bring it up to talk. See what have reach out to me now. something else. >> Are they adding >> uh probably more likely, but it's gonna because we're going to be getting to that nitty-gritty be winter time December. So that's a short month and stuff. So um as we get progress that direction, I'll definitely maybe before the school year starts, if they start closing some stuff and we got some things going, we might be able to set up a a walk through When
064will they start the when will they know when they can start building the fire and rescue? >> Um I think the the bids and stuff went in I think this summer sometime they let us know if we made it. So I'm hoping we do. Fingers crossed we get it this time. So it' be nice because right now the only search and rescue training facility that all fire departments have in Ohio is in Reynold. Reynoldsburg the only one in Ohio. So if we can get one built here be huge. >> Uh this week as a reminder um some big um pieces of legislation actually go into effect. So, uh, as we talked about last meeting, House Bill 129, uh, which is the fix of levies, um, piece, as well as House Bill 186, uh, which is
065about the clawbacks, House Bill 309, and House Bill 335, all four of which will affect us in the future uh, in terms of our finances. So, those will go into effect this week as well as House Bill 114, which is um the kindergarten age requirements and how those have changed for this year. Other highlights um on Monday, the state board of education uh selected Dr. Philip Wagner as Ohio's next superintendent of public instruction. So, it'll start in July. uh Governor DeWine uh did the state of the state address really highlighting a lot uh in terms of education and the department of education and workforce. Um they're creating regional uh science of reading instructional implementation teams. These folks will go out and help with K through 12 schools fully execute their science of reading in their
066classrooms. also highlighted in his speech, um the department is going to add 50 more read Ohio coaches this fall so they can be in more schools throughout the state. Uh also, um they're going to implement free read Ohio coach training and credentiing to the literacy coaches who are actually already employed. So, free training there. Uh and then he encouraged folks to um pass House Bill 304. And that bill uh will actually double the amount of recess time for schools with students from 30 to 60 minutes per day. And that's through K through 8th grade. So he's really pushing more physical education. Um Senate Bill 19 um had its fourth year. This one will require districts and schools to develop a mathematics improvement and monitoring plan for each student who qualifies for math intervention services. Another
067one is the third hearing for the Senate bill 328. This would create the education and workforce return on investment initiative uh focused on middle school career explor exploration of course that's required with students um and career plans OSBA uh and others also um provided joint interested party testimony for those starting out the final semester of the year. So things going off the elementary just to try and keep some uh some excitement going on over there. On Monday they're doing meaningful Mondays and Mrs. Thompson are adding some things to do more vocabulary. Tuesday is tourist Tuesday where they explore new places. Woody is writing Wednesday and I get to write about vocabulary word and thinking about it Thursday morning announcements and then funny Friday I'm not sure what to but Thompson end the week with some
068lightarted notes and so forth. I I don't have any examples for you though. Uh coming up the 18th is first grade flag day. The 19th is touch tracker day. The 20th is career exploration. That's the elementary school here. And then April testing for all their high school test same sort of thing. They've been working on the portion of cancer pop stars and their board is filling up very quickly. It's getting something nominated and then receiving a during the third round test now a little bit ahead of the state 191 students Thursday. This is third quarter rewards trip and with all the testing going on getting ready for that high school similar sort of situations. We got an email the other day Sam Wenstein won a state contest for engineering sticker design. Congratulations to St. stages
069of master schedule development. That is a pretty big thing. Getting ready for high state testing and also doing a lot of finishes to get ready for the other thing that they've been working on is the NPSS systems for supports. the state of use national honor student societies here for that. They're also planning for adult volunteers. I'm pretty sure we discussed >> um the building grounds director maintenance director. So yesterday external it'll be external for two weeks when we come back from spring break then we'll start screening that position we I had an explorer asking like chamber of commerce in county reaching out to city post on their job boards as well as Ohio jobs. So just trying to get in front of candidates because I don't necessarily think they're looking at ODO's website, right? So
070um yeah, and we've had some I've already had some external applications come in just because I posted like anticipated opening sale on Facebook. So I'll continue to post that and get to our website. Now I think we kind of get into that. We discussed in the last building and grounds committee meeting some of those members. >> So I have some tenative dates for an interview um like more kind of like a committee like interview. So we'll invite members who you haven't had a chance to go up and take a look at this whole field is down and looks great. Doug should be doing more fencing concrete work tomorrow after that it bring in the guys do the uh believe our safety instruction. Very good. That's all I have. Mr. Nickel is position. Second. >> Yes.
071She's really good. This one. >> Did she already pull it? Oh, >> I got that. I wouldn't do that and I appreciate tell Yeah. >> Interesting. >> Oh, okay. Okay. >> Good job. I don't see them. I see all the others. I don't see all the other >> the office ladies too much. back in December. I had >> took her today. >> Well, >> I think there's some things that people think it's on us. disappointed. >> Um, yeah, kind of. >> Yeah. I was like, "Okay." So then he comes in, he got this freaking dissertation of all this stuff. And I'm like, and he told me about it. I like what's going on. And then he came back. >> So I had to get one of the information. I mean, you know, Todd people the
072wrong way where he was like he's like go go go, you know, and I love his drive. I think he's great at what he does, you know. Doug irritated with my vice president old man. Shut the hell up. Quit spending all this time at the state house. >> Just those two. They're two type A, you know. So it's like come back and >> I made him for a while like you know I was like set up the meeting and I want all of because you know they're always waiting for other people. But I wanted their reports and his done. >> Nobody. He was just getting his and not worit. So I didn't >> they both Feel like I'm managing middle school, >> but I sometimes I bring my husband not Our board meeting starts at
0736:30. Everybody Yeah. >> I would do it like I mean >> if you want to do it before that get an idea because we're going to be doing a lot of renovations that we're moving out of this summer. So there I mean we'll probably do some free after school. So maybe >> president They have you guys have to renew me at the end of the year. >> I have a feeling in about two years probably'll probably We have an assistant right now. >> I'll figure out Maybe in the summer that's Yeah. Yeah. Especially this one. from Sam How are you? >> Thank you. $60,000. >> We own a brush. The brush is still off. >> It almost hurts. >> Well, luckily that's done every year. >> When they live They look great. >> And the
074the road. >> Yeah. Yeah. Well, it'll be much safer on 38. So, yeah, >> that's what they pick up and drop off culture. >> That's not new. >> Oh, they're lined up at 2 o'clock for a 3M dismissal. >> If not, >> yeah. >> I don't know. But it's a thing. I got I if I come on campus I really got to think about it like how close are we to >> knowactly where do I park so I can get out >> it's important to be >> it is a lot of grandparents pick it up too >> yeah so that's nice >> you can put a little stand up and sell something >> well we thought like there's a meme on Facebook that says you're really smart you would sell like Starbucks type drinks and
075then the parent drop off line in the morning and I'm like that's a great >> not a Yeah. >> Yeah. Just pre-order. We'll have your drink. >> I may what they call it now. >> Oh yeah. Oh yeah. >> We had to market it and sell it. >> But they do they do have like a little market. >> I talked about Archie that um your students right around here like new% >> search. So this we're trying to build one on this side building around I said yes from my school. >> It's funny. I got friends who I had to ever because of my campaign stuff. I've got people in contact. >> One of my classmates in college is a county commissioner of county >> just age. >> Not too old. >> Got look established. >>
076I guys that graduated high school the mayor. He brought the >> April 6 grand open. I'm road trip down there. >> You been to Bies? >> Yeah. >> Oh my experience for sure. >> It's really a destination. >> Each destination has something different. >> I can't imagine what the Grand would be like. >> Oh, it's going to be >> It'd be great. I like stopping at like two in the morning when there's like nobody there because after that it's just show. >> They still they still cut barbecue at 2:00 in the morning. >> Oh, yeah. >> Oh, really? >> It's not as prevalent as it is during the day when they're making all the sandwiches and stuff, but they still got you can get your sandwich made then at 2 a.m. >> Yeah. Don't they
077have likeund the bathrooms on there? >> I mean, they're better than my house. >> Well, so my sister last summer drove she lives in Florida. She drove up um she was staying in the period and she hit the puppies every stop. >> So now she's coming up in May, my kids's birthday, she's like, "We're going to pies." I was like, "No, we're not." And she's like, "Yes, we are." So I bought her a pair of puppy slippers for Christmas. Well, I saw they hire and if you were like a manager of one of the Bies, you're pulling like what? 130 15k. I'm like, >> let's stop and think about this. I'm like, you're probably managing high school kids anyway. I know how to do this. They post >> it's a it's a very >> next

IS THAT NOT ITALIAN? >> I think so. >> It's like a >> betori. >> Oh yeah. >> Been there? >> No, I have not. >> Good. Victorians on Mill. Okay. >> You ever been to Lola? >> Yes. >> Lascala. I went to Lola night in 1987. There's a guy who owns menu. >> Okay. >> I've heard a lot of videos on the line. It says like a deli but it's not. Right. >> Michael. >> Okay.
