Item five is public participation open Thursday this evening. Item six is approval of the agenda. Is there a motion? I'll second. >> Yes. >> Item seven is superintendent report. >> Okay. Well, tonight is a special night for us. So, this evening we are privileged to honor Angie Buick who has served on the Fairbanks board of education for eight years. Additionally, Angie has represented Fairbanks as a member of the Tuls where she currently serves as president. In the short time
I have worked with Angie, I found her to be a champion for students, especially in the area of career development. I have appreciated her thoughtful feedback, her desire for forward motion, and her great sense of humor. So, Angie, I feel very honored to present you with this award for your service to Fairbanks. I don't want those big balls. >> Great videos. >> I'm going to have to Awesome. >> You're welcome. So, do you want to sing? >> Yep. >> Thank you. Yeah. I'd just I'd like to thank Angie for her service and u the pleasure it is to work with her and we've accomplished a lot and she's pushed us and I appreciate her work on the tools board and to represent surve and and Ky will still continue to do that. I really appreciate
that. So thank you Andy. >> I appreciate it. Thank you. Same thing had some decisions where you expressed a lot. No, I've learned a lot working for the board, especially from Mark. He has lots of years of service, way more than I do. But, um, I'm a true professional as, you know, get that next person the next chance up. And Kelly's a great addition to the team. So, she'll represent well for Fairbanks and I look forward to continue to represent tolls. Um, I've enjoyed my time there tremendously and um we're definitely doing the right things moving forward to help our students succeed. >> Could we get your picture? That be it anytime. >> Oh, thank you. photo. >> Um, I'd like to continue on with our kindergarten roundup. So, we are excited to meet our
future kindergarten campers at Kindergarten Roundup, which may seem a long time away. Um, May 5 13 through the 15, 2026, but um we would like parents to go ahead and give us their contact information in January. So, when students come in for Fairbanks uh kindergarten roundup, they will meet with the Fairbanks teachers and staff for an an assessment while parents begin the enrollment process and learn about our school district. And we're going to ask parents to submit their contact information January through March via a district our district website. Parents will then schedule their child's appointment for Roundup in April and then attend Roundup with their child in May. So, for more information, parents may visit our district website and click on the families tab and then scroll down to enrollment. And in an effort to
spread awareness about kindergarten roundup, we are sending postcards to families who have recently moved into the district and some new developments in our community, we're putting postcards as well. So, anyone interested in kindergarten roundup has a new panther for us. Um, we just encourage them to check out our district website and um, we'll start taking their information in January. Also, I want to congratulate our preschool and elementary students on an entertaining holiday concert last week. Uh, you can just see how much kids were enjoying it and it made it so much fun for the audience. Um, and also a shout out to our preschool teachers and Mrs. Cooper for preparing the students and leading them that night. It was really fun for all who attended. And then this evening in the middle school and high
school, we have an art show from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by the middle school high school music concert at 700 pm in the high school gym. And everybody is welcome to attend following our meeting. And lastly, I'm very pleased to share that Fairbanks has welcomed Stephanie Lance as our new elementary secretary. Stephanie brings seven years of secretarial and communications experience at Memorial Hospital and a bachelor's degree in business administration. She is a mother of four current Fairbank students and and is a third generation alumni. So her Panther pride runs very deep and we are thrilled, absolutely thrilled to have her. So welcome Stephie. Awesome. >> Thank you Mr. J. Item eight is the treasur's report. >> Well, not too much to add right now. The house bills are in the with the governor. So,
I think uh then this week we probably should know how this is final going to the final conclusion. So, um as soon as that happens, we'll get a finance committee meeting together and start seeing how it's going to affect the district financially. So, but we should know something I think later on. >> Is there a motion? >> Mr. >> Yes. M. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nichol. >> Yes. Item B of the treasures report approves the fiscal year 2526 amendment to the creation fund. >> Is there a motion? >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nichol. >> Yes. Mr. >> Yeah. >> Item nine is consent agenda. Um this evening in consent agenda is item 10 is the minutes for regular meeting our work session. Item B. Item 11 is the first
reading of the 26 27 academic calendar report. Item 12 A is approved uh contract amendments. Item B approve following athletic contracts. four of those. Uh item 13 is a classified contract for the US coated and then item B um approved Stephanie. Item nine is a supplemental contract for assisting while traveling. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I told you. Item is a job description for the US. Item 16 is a policy. Is that a new policy? >> It is. It's for um non CDL license drivers. You may use our light vans for example and it involves testing license. Item 17 is a resolution for the end of the school year for Paul. That was item A. And item B is for DC at the end of the first semester. And then item 18 approves the setting. And
that is consent agendations. >> You're right. There was one other one for mock trial. Um, actually, no, because he never was officially approved for mock trial. So, we didn't need to put it on there. >> Mrs. Kell, got my ears. >> Well, I should be able to answer that. >> It's been she's done a great job. A very long time. Hopefully, she'll come back and sub. Is there any other questions? >> If not, there >> Mr. Yes. >> Item 19 is approval of paper testing. >> Uh that approves the administration 33 for the item state test and English 267. Is there a motion? I'll second it. But do we always have to vote on that? Does it have to be a paper vote? Yeah, the state requires it and I have to upload our resolution
into a state site saying that our board >> yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. Item 20 is donations for the paper market and there are five of those as presented. >> I didn't talk about in the agenda the other day making like a dollar amount. >> Is there a motion? >> I'll make a motion. Second, >> yes. >> Mr. Fox, >> yes. >> Mr. Nichol, >> yes. >> Item B approves a $2,500 grant from Parker Foundation for 8th grade uh Washington DC trip. Is there a motion? Second, >> yes. Mr. >> Yes. >> Mrs. >> Yes. >> Item C approves the APC bonus grant 4650. What would that take toward? >> So we have done things like um water bottles for teachers, snacks for teachers. Um we bring in a speaker about you know just how
to care for yourself. selfare kind of thing. So Tessa and the mental health and recovery board um project aware in the two of them have worked on many staff wellness activities throughout the year. >> Did you make the motion or did I make the motion? Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Phelps. >> Yes. >> Item 21 is organizational meeting board membership. I say >> I agree with you. Kelly, you'll be on that one. You think Derek? >> I want to make Derek the temporary board president. >> Thanks. >> I'll second. >> Yep. Yes. >> Yes. >> Uh item 22 is the OFCC budget summary approves the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission locally fund initiative budget summary as any questions on that. And this basically this basically just is tracking pretty much the invest potential future credit.
>> Yes. Mr. Yes. >> Total. >> I'd have to double check, but I it's probably somewhere else. >> Yeah, that's what I would estimate, but we still have no clue when we potentially would receive that. So, anytime we ask, we don't they can't really tell us. So, Item 23 is technology contracts. The first one, letter A, approves a three-year contract with META. It's $7,200 a year as presented. On that notion, I'll make the motion. Mr. Ph. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nichol. >> Yes. >> Then letter B approves a 5-year contract for fiber to the central office as presented. >> And in that report, didn't Mr. Smith negotiated quite a bit of savings on that total? >> Yeah. So, um, the monthly cost will be roughly $500. We get 15% back via
e-reat. So, this would be a five-year contract and would increase our connection from 200 megabytes to one gigabyte. We currently pay them $1,910 monthly, so a $1,400 decrease. >> In each one of these technology pieces on here, there's a 50% back on that he >> is there a motion? >> Yes. >> Mr. Nichl. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. And item C approves $125,000 with Edute Techch for phase two of the networking upgrades. Will you give Mr. on that? >> Yeah. So, um, this quote is for $125,000. We get 50% back via E-Rink and will entail replacing all of our network switches and some cabling repair in the elementary school. So the first phase of this was done last year when we installed all new access points and replaced most
of the cabling in the middle school high school. So our existing equipment that we're going to be replacing is 90 years old. And it's those big technology stacks that you see in his office and I think there are four or five of them across the district that we all get. >> Thank you. Are there any questions? I'll make it. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. Mr. >> Yes. Item 24 is a service agreement with ESC. It's just the state that a work for educational purposes. >> Yeah. Specifically special education services. >> Is there a motion move? >> Second. >> Yes. >> Phelps. >> Yes. is the trip. That's for sixth grade for the Columbus Aquarium in May of 26 and sixth grade outdoor education in April. That's a new >> They had
the one zoo already approved, but they're flip-fpping that now with the outdoor education. So, they just are replacing it. >> I'll make >> Yes. Item B approves the parliamentary procedure state competition. I'll make a motion. >> Second. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. They were very close to making it to the top. >> I'd just like to thank m Mr. Dwayne for the amount of work that he puts into coaching coaching through a good job. Item 26 guess discussion items start thinking about the third base honorary and scholarship. And then item B is uh schedule record commission and January organization. The records commission on the August 12th at 6:15 organizational with regular meetings follow. >> I'll make the motion. >> We need a motion. We're going to do the records commission.
>> We'll do that. >> The records at 6:15. >> 6:15. >> Yeah. With organizational at 6:30 and then the regular meeting tomorrow. Sure. >> Um many reports polls. So um just for January, I will not be around for the meeting on that one. Um, I'll be in Florida during that time, but I'll make sure you guys get an update sent in your report. Um, uh, last week we had our open house for, uh, kids to, uh, visit and June 1st applicants. Um, say we're doing pretty good. They're filling up fast. So, that's open until, um, Martin Luther King, then they officially close it, and then I'll send out acceptance letters to all the students. Um, we're in the process of adding a few more senior only programs for the next year too as well. So,
it'll be interesting to see how much more we can add to these kids, especially after we get these programs up and running. Um, currently we have 1209 students. Peak was at 1300 this year. Um, there's been some back and forth with uh changes and stuff, but I noticed Todd did not give you pictures of the expansion of the canvas on the attachment in there. Um, what I'd like to do is something I talked about to him today is like maybe midway when we hit spring, get some good uh poster board pictures and bring them in here and show everybody what they're doing over there and then maybe during the summer do a walk through um of what we've completed so far over there because it's it's coming together pretty quick. So, we ran into a
few snafoos, but we're working through them. Some some other buildings that we're trying to build probably storage building that fire trucks and stuff. So, and then appreciation dinner of course is in April on the 22nd. We'll just kind of get that guys on your calendar as well. Um, and he has a couple town hall at um at 15 town hall on the 19th um 8 8:30. Um there was a flyer attached to that as well. And then our adult edge uh certification and we're just adding to it. Um we've got more people businesses coming to us setting up uh training for individuals and just basically paying tuition for it. So it's pretty great. And we're um I did uh last week I was at a conference for the ACT in Nashville and um sat through
some really good programs that uh folks are doing to get kids to that next level, especially um one that hits me at home is kids with that struggle with intellectual disabilities or just disabilities in general. Um mother tech, I'm going to work with them. I'm going down and visiting them. They have like a three-year program that they call it project life which leads into project search and they basically have an in-house internship with all these businesses that put these kids in cohorts so they're working and then they're learning at the same time and then they they they have jobs afterwards which I think it's tremendous and it's not just in one set area. They've got four or five different fields that they're placing these kids in. So, pretty amazing. But I did get to sit
sit and chat with them for a while and then uh basically set up time with them to go visit, go out there and check it out. So, I'm pretty excited about that. So, so it was a good time. Lot learned a lot. Um barbecue science hopefully come to the culinary. That was fun. Learning about all the you just got to buy a kit. And the cool thing was is that kids who if you if a culinary uh class takes it and it applies to do buys this little kit. Basically, you got to set up a spot in the parking lot, get your grill or your smoker set up. You have to make something. Every first year team is invited to nationals to try it just to see what it's like and then then they have
to qualify after that. But every first team gets to go to nationals the first year. So pretty neat. So we were uh there was actually it was me and another board member actually sitting in there. We both looked over at each other. He was like you guys with this. So it was fun. It was a good time. Anybody have any questions? >> Uh well Mr. Johnson kind of touched base on the main main gist of it. Governor DeW Governor DeWine was delivered u about eight bills. Most of them were property tax related. Um Governor Dwine has 10 days to sign B2 or allow these acts to become law without his signature. At the time of publication, there has not been any action on notice. He did uh Governor DeWine did veto Senate Bill 50. um
which was a law that was proposing to allow 14 or 15 year olds to work until 900 pm on a school night. So legislature has until the end of next year to overre that detail. Um there's not a lot of recently introduced bills. The House and Senate did release their schedules for the first half of 26. The House will convene with committee work starting February 18th. Um they have 10 confirmed meeting dates throughout the first half of the year. The Senate is going to resume earlier. Their committee work is going to start January 27th and their first session will be January 28th. And that is about all that was on the legislative update. student achievement. Uh all three reports are there in there with you. So you can take a look at those. A lot
of testing going on coming back. We're starting to see more right now. So that's pretty good thing. Drama club presentation was today and tomorrow. They're doing presentation tonight too. I think >> those be tomorrow afternoon. Feel free to stop over there. A lot of professional development also going on particularly at the elementary and middle school. We only have six students who have enough in any of the core subjects. So those six are already being worked with the parents trying to scores their second round of diagnostic diagnostic testings have been done math review scout seems to be doing real well. He's our adopted puppy in sixth grade. Has anybody taken him yet? I think there's something in the works. >> Okay. It's not you, is it? >> Not me. But I might have an idea, too.
Well, the kids, you're talking about sixth graders that schools. We have a lot of authentic learning projects going on in middle school. Beth Morris is doing one title. you need to know about the Holocaust and that's preparing our eighth grade students for the trip to DC. Richard Jones has got small business in ideiation and design program going to help students with businesses locally work on real connections there. There's also a service learning project scout. They're doing safe writing to raise awareness for the rescues so forth and they're focusing on three levels of food scenario either. We do have some students there 191 students attending that. So I pretty much told the school that there are some who are not attending the not attending tend to be because they had for assignments. So all that reinforces
accountability and responsibility. High school same sort of thing. Uh we're working on intervention strategies right now. The restructuring study helps to try to help students who do need intervention and hopefully they'll have some of those. If the student does need intervention, they'll be identified and be practicing that before the end of the semester. The administrative team is working on college credit plus Mr. find it. He ended up making more triple for everybody. And all three reports wished us merry Christmas. And I think they're all three ready for a break. So that's it. Um I think everyone's aware that we had the James well pump the other day. So, I think I was just born more an age >> situation, but other than that, I Mr. Chapman's kind of been working with uh kind of get
some planning together. You know, we're going to try to do some public public private partnership on some of the athletic areas and and see if we can help kind of boost boost some of that awareness and go that route. So, that's sort of a big part of what's coming up. I think as far as softball field, I mean, I think we're just kind of waiting on weather weather to cooperate a little bit, but they still >> feel like they they're on a good schedule to get it completed in spring. was up there track up there was good. Any other questions? Uh there is not a reason for executive session. So that brings us motion. >> Mr. Nickel. >> Yes. >> Mr. Phelps. >> Yes. Mr. >> Yes. You try the sweetness of the cookies. >>
These are they are they turtles. I'll let your niece get
