Good evening. I'd like to call to order the April meeting of the Oak Hills Board of Education. If you could please stand for the pledge of allegiance. >> Pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands one nation under God, indivisible, liberty and justice for all. Okay, Steve, you want to do the roll call, please? >> Mr. Oran here. >> Mr. Kler >> here. Mr. Ay >> here. >> Mrs. Zyold >> here. >> Mr. West here. >> Okay. Communications. >> Yeah. Welcome everybody tonight. We got a great crowd tonight. So, we have some recognition this evening. Uh we have uh some athletic recognition and then also uh some academics, some part some music awards. So, we will start out with Ben Hegman, our athletic director, if

he wants to come on up and we are going to recognize some of our winter athletes. So, Ben, welcome. >> All right. Thanks for coming this evening. It's just like school. Nobody sits in the first two rows. Uh, but I really appreciate the opportunity for us to celebrate uh our student athletes, our coaches, and some of the accomplishments that uh that they've achieved over over the winter seasons. Um, we did this in the fall and I thought, wow, we had an unbelievable fall with uh coaches of the year and players of the year and some of the accomplishments that our team have uh achieved, but I really do believe this winter is probably um maybe even exceeds what we did in the fall. Was quite a banner season. It was a historic season with girls

wrestling. Um, so we've really we're really proud of everything that our student athletes, our coaches, and our teams, uh, have accomplished this year. Um, and it really is a three-prong attack with the parents and their support, uh, with the student athletes and everything that they put into, uh, the dedication of being a student athlete, um, and then the coaches and and the time that they put in. And so, uh, from from the athletic department, we thank all of you, um, for your dedication of being a part of Oakill's athletics. Um, so to get started, I'd like to bring up, uh, three individuals. Uh Jeff Sloan, Ellie Pulking, and Ella Wyman. So these three individuals right here, you can stand up front, they were uh nominated GMC athletes of the year in their respective sports. Um,

and this is, I think, one of the top individual awards that that our athletes can can achieve because these awards um really talk about consistency of a school year. Uh they're often times voted on uh by their peers. Um and so in their sports, they were recognized as the best in what is arguably the top, you know, public school conference in the state of Ohio. So Jet Sloan was the uh boys GMC athlete of the year in swimming. He won the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash at our conference. Uh is this your third year in a row as a state qualifier? >> Second year in a row as a state qualifier. All blends together with his sister was also a state qualifier. So for year after year after year I feel like

I've I've watched a Sloan at state swim meet. So kind of runs together. But uh he also qualified in the 200 meter dash at the state this year as well. So congratulations Jeff. Ella Wyman was uh our female uh bowler of the year in the GMC. She had a 185 185.9. So close. I would round up 185.9 average uh in the league and when she comes up here with her uh her team as well. Her team qualified for state and she also finished fourth at the state competition. Uh it was all state as well. So congratulations Ellie. Ellie Vulki um pretty impressive. She was uh is a for girls wrestling. She was the GMC champion, the sectional champion, the district champion and the state runner up in 130 lb weight class in girls wrestling. Um

and so this is this is the one right here. 50 and2 record. So pretty pretty unbelievable. 200 wins in wrestling in a high school career. That that would be pretty impressive. Uh she was just recently named a Sports Illustrated All-American. And uh for Ellie being a fall sport athlete and a winter sport athlete, she's now two for two uh in her uh her seasons qualifying for the state meet. So cross country and now in wrestling. Very impressive. So congratulations. Could I please have the girls wrestling team come up coaches as well. All right. So, this was the first year uh in the GMC that uh girls wrestling was recognized as a sport in our conference. You have to have six teams that recognize it as a full sport in order for our league to to

support it. And so, this was the first year that we had um girls wrestling championship and our girls won the GMC title. Uh they didn't just win it, they um I think they beat the second place team by over 50 points uh in the inaugural uh season. And even more impressive is if you look at the numbers, um, coach Grace and Coach Lampy, the amount of the girls that they've got to come out, uh, and really, um, be dedicated to the sport is pretty impressive. Most most girls programs right now in their infancy stages really struggle to fill uh, weight classes. And as you can see, we have uh, all these girls that are interested, and they uh, they truly dominated this year. So, we're we're thrilled for uh, for what they accomplished. We can't

wait to see what the future years bring. We also had five of these individuals which were league champions. So raise your hand or take a step forward. But here said Ellie was uh 130 lb weight class and Lily Anderson. Lily the GMC champ. Chloe Chloe Kelly and Chloe Robertson and >> I'm sorry. Claire Robertson. >> What's it that says Claire? And I knew that too. Okay. >> And Isabella Barton. Awesome job. And then Isabelle and Ellie were also state qualifiers. And then Coach Lampy was nominated coach of the year. Um and then Coach Graves, our assistant coach. These guys, they just do an amazing job. Uh there's not a day where I'm out at a lacrosse practice or in the weight room or walking around campus. These girls are always in there and these coaches

are always in there providing opportunities. So we're really proud of everything that you've accomplished. Great job. All right, girls. Hold. Girls bowling is a staple in these events. We uh we know with coach Forser, they're they're always up here and they're always successful with what they uh what they've accomplished. Right. at the girls team this year. They finished 10th at the state competition. Shout out to Yorgan who came out to watch him up in Columbus. I think that's the first board member we've had at a state bowling match. I I don't know if that's if that's accurate, but I'm probably pretty sure that it is. Um at the uh at the state tournament this year, we talked about Ella earlier. Um 216. That's a heck of a that's a heck of a Right. >> rolled

her new personal best 650 series. >> Okay. rolled her personal best average at the state tournament. So, no no time like uh you know when the brightest lights are on to perform your best. Um and so finished the day 10th and we had Katie Bacon, Mary Bacon, Maddie Rosterman, Leah Mali, Anna Shadic, and Ella. So, congratulations ladies. I think we have plaque for you. >> They were the sexual champs. So, you know, I got to shout that out. First time sexual champs. Can I get Mr. uh so Brian Red Rner and Jeff Sloan one more time? >> All right. So for our swimmers this year, um Coach R, this is his first year coaching uh at Oak Kilps. Uh his inaugural season. Um he was voted by his peers as coach of the year. uh

not only in boys but also on the girls side of swimming. Um and again, I just it's an extremely impressive accomplishment because typically whoever wins the league, that's who gets picked for coach of the year. If your team's the best, that coach almost gets it every year. And so, um for Brian to come in this year in his first year coaching high school sports and to get picked by his peers, be coach of the year, uh not only on the boys side, but the girl side is it's a really impressive accomplishment. And so we've been really proud of uh what he's been able to do with our program this year and really anxious to see where it continues to go. Um and then again, Jet um Jet's accomplishments speak for themselves again with the GMC

athlete here and then him winning the 100 the 200 meter dash in freestyle at the at the weekend. So great job. Coach Murphy is not only an outstanding teacher, but I'm glad that he was able to take a night off from refereeing lacrosse. He's also our lacrosse assigner uh in Cincinnati, but also coaches our chesky. Um, and again, uh, kind of what I just said about, you know, Coach Rner, the the fact that, um, our chess team did not finish probably in the top third of the league and his peers recognized him as a coach of the year, uh, is is pretty impressive. So, um, it's challenging to find people that want to uh, coach from time to time and finding quality individuals that put the time in uh, like coach does with our chess

program. It's not one of those sports where you put out like, hey, who wants to coach chess? It's easy to find people and so we're thrilled to have Brad. We're thrilled for the job he does with our team. So, thank you. And last but not least, the girls and boys basketball. We've got Ava Camers, AJ Dean, and Coach Price. Cordell B was going to be here this evening, but Coach Price just told me he's on his way to Michigan for a scouting trip this year. Michigan State. >> He got his last. >> I start with Ava. Um, Abel was uh, honorable mention all Ohio, but but more impressively, she uh, graduated her four-year career as a thousand point scorer. Um, that's an extremely impressive accomplishment when you think of the consistency that an athlete has

to put in day in and day out, game day game in and game out. when you're the focal point of the team. This is like the same thing I can say about AJ. When you're the focal point of the team, AJ also finished his career as a thousand point scorer. Um, you know, and in the GMC, if you come to any of our games, you see how physical and how these guys get beat up and how people really uh focus their defense on making sure that these two don't score. And to be able to put up the amount of points that they were is extremely impressive. Um Ava finished uh first team all league uh impressive multiport athlete as a as a goalie on the soccer team as well. Um and then AJ as well

honorable mention all Ohio thousand point score and again first team GMC. So really impressive accomplishments and then AJ uh and Cordell as with really team effort uh helping to lead our team this year to uh to the Elite 8 which was uh quite a fun run uh for our school and the basketball program itself. Um, and then last but not least, Coach Price, Delh High alumni, Delh High former teacher, uh, was the district 16 coach of the year and only the sixth coach in Oakill's history, uh, to be awarded the, uh, state coach of the year award. Um, and just I I've said it about all of our coaches, but if you know anything about Coach Price and how well he's respected uh in the coaching community and the time and yet dedication he puts

into to all levels of Oakill's athletes, whether it's a kindergartener that wants to get in the gym all the way through high school into anybody in our community, whether they go to our school or not, the time that he puts in with with student athletes, this is one of the most welldeserved awards that I that I could probably say. So, congratulations. Well overdue and awesome job asking thank you Mr. Hangman. Congratulations to our athletes. Uh my name is Brian Connor. I'm proud to be the principal at Oakills High School. And I'm going to recognize some of our academic art and music students. So, first up, uh, Mason Alman. Mason, come on up. Mason is a National Merit Scholarship Commended student, which means he's in the top 3% nationally and his PSATs. He has scholarships awaiting

his choosing from Miami University the Honors College Red Hawks Excellence Scholarship, from the Ohio State University Trustee Scholarship, and also from the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Sciences Scholarship. So, congratulations, Mason. Next up is Cole Borton. Cole is also a National Merit Scholarship Commended student. His scholarships sitting on the table for him to choose from are the University of Louisville Order benefit award and merit scholarship, Miami University Governor's Merit Scholarship, Xavier University Presidential Merit Scholarship, Dean Award, Housing Grant, Legacy Scholarship, the Ohio State University Maximus Scholarship, and I also had the uh opportunity to accompany Cole to breakfast a couple weeks ago at the Western Hills Community Service Club as the student of the from their organization. So congratulations to Cole here and how Cameron I know Ashlin told me she was

not able to make it tonight. Ryland I will say one thing about Cameron even though he was not able to make it tonight. Cameron did score a perfect score on his ACTs which is pretty impressive. So congratulations Cameron. Ryland is also a National Merit Scholarship finalist, which means he's in the top 1% in his PSATs and he has accepted a full tuition scholarship to the university to Northern Kentucky University presidential scholarship. So congratulations to Ryland. He will not be paying anything for his school for the next four years. So congratulations Next up is our art students, Chloe Kelly, who was here with the girls wrestling team. So that's pretty cool. Chloe is a goal key and honorable mention. She has a scholastic art competition for photography winner. She's engaged, helpful, and a positive presence in

class and consistently produces creative and high quality work. So not only is she on our wrestling team, but she's also doing a great job in the classroom. So congratulations Charlie Morehead. Lydia Lydia Wilson. Lydia is a multiple Scholastic Art Award winner. She won the Governor's Exhibition State winner and exhibitor. She was a PTA Reflections County winner. Aiden Spangler is not able to be with us. He's actually on the lacrosse field right now. So that's the reason he was unable to attend. So another multi-talented student. And then Luna Trrisco. Luna is a junior flute player. She is a multi-year member of the OMA District 14 High School Honor Band. a member of the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble, which is part of

the CCM Prep Department at the University of Cincinnati's College of Conservatory Music. So, congratulations to her. So, congratulations to our students. Well, I hope you see we have a lot of great things going on at Oak Hills High School with our athletics, academics, art, and music. And I'll turn things back over to Mr. Beckman. Thank you, Mr. Connor. And congratulations again to all of our athletes, all of our academic award winners, art award winners, and music award winners. Um, thank you for how you represent Oakills, and most certainly how you represent yourself. We are super proud of all of you. I can say

one thing, Coach Price, congratulations. I met Coach Price when I was 14 years old. It was a long time ago. This did not exist, but I played open gym in our old gym up there uh back when I was a teenager growing up in Delhigh. And so, a welldeserved award for parents and students. You are welcome at this time. If you want to stay for the rest of the meeting, you're welcome to. But if you do not want to stay for the rest, you're welcome at this time to exit stage left. We always have a picture. Oh, and they are going to do a picture out in the hallway. So, thanks again. >> Yeah, congratulations again to all the honories today. It's awesome. I think every year this list gets longer and longer, which is

uh which is very cool to see. So, congratulations. Okay. Uh can I have an adopt can I have a motion to adopt the agenda for this evening? >> Okay, Steve. >> Mr. Krueler. >> Yes. >> Mr. A. >> Yes. Mr. >> D. Mr. West. >> Yes. That's your lock. No. >> Okay, Dan. Superintendent report. >> Yes. We are going to turn it over to Brady Faust, our principal here at DH Middle School. And my guess is we're going to talk a little bit about our 100year celebration here at Delhigh. >> Yes, we are. We are celebrating 100 years of Delhigh Rural School, Delhigh Junior High, Delhigh Middle School. Um, which is super exciting. Um, and I'm glad you guys are here in April to be able to celebrate this. We have all kinds of fun

things happening uh and going on Delhi to celebrate this. 100 years is very rare. I mean, that's that's a big deal. So, um, we've been kind of planning this and and executing all kinds of different ideas over the since we started in January. Uh, we're doing all the way through December here. And so, we just want to give you a little taste tonight of kind of some of the things that we've been doing and celebrating. So, why celebrate? Okay, it's just a middle school. It's just a junior high. What's the point? Um, I think Delh High has such a unique place in this community. And I I don't even know how many people grow up in Delhi. Okay, one or two. Um, I have had four people already this year show up to our building

and say, "Hey, I went to Delhigh in the 1970s or I went to Delhi in the 1980s. Can I just walk around?" I'm like, "Well, yes, but I need to walk with you or can you come back after 215 kind of thing?" Because people love this place. For a long time, it was a Ken building. It was called Delhigh Elementary School. And so, for many people, this was a place where they had their most formative experiences, um, built relationships. And you guys know the west side, once you build friendship, it's a lifelong friendship. And so, um, we want to honor that. And really, I think what's best about being on the west side and celebrating this is it's a chance to celebrate our traditions, right? What makes this place such a great place is that

people keep coming back. I mean, when I was a kid and I went to Delh High Junior High, my mom used to make fun of my dad relentlessly because he was a Bridgetown people, okay? Cuz he was over on the Bridgetown side of things. And so the whole family were a bunch of Dell Eagles. We gave him a hard time cuz he was from Bridgetown. And so that kind of tradition and desire for excellence is just part of what I love about this place. Um we also wanted to celebrate our student experiences, right? Part of Deli. We want kids to come here and love it here. Uh middle school's hard, right? You have hard things happen. There's lots of drama that happens, but we want our kids to leave here knowing that they learned gain

the tools necessary to be successful, but that they also felt like they graduated. So, we want to celebrate and honor all of our traditions and make a part of that as well. And then, of course, I mentioned the alumni. There's so many alumni around here. Uh, we'll get to that here in a minute. Um, but before I do that, I want to hand it over to some of our students um who had a really good idea. We were brainstorming kind of just different ways we could celebrate 100 years this year. Um, and our group came up with coming up with a time capsule. Uh, which is not a new idea, right? But knowing that we are in the process of the beginning stages of building a new building that in some way we could document

Delhigh at 100 years and that we could kind of carry that into the future in the next building. So um Mr. Boight and I had the bright idea of having our construction class at the high school build it. Uh and I want to give you give the credit to those guys who built it here. These are former Delhigh students. One of them is here. Uh Brandon McFarland. You want to stand up? Uh we have Tren Henry and Anthony Saldana. Uh and so they built us a time capsule that's actually still in progress. I saw it for the first time today. So you'll kind of laugh when you see it cuz it wasn't what I expected. But that is our time capsule which has been lovingly dubbed the coffin. Um so nobody's going to jump out

at you. Okay. I don't know if we're going to be able to bury this, but it might have to just be placed in the new building somewhere and filled with all the traditions of Delmont past. So, I'm going to hand it off to some of our students. We've got Daisy, Ka, Violet, and Ashley. Uh, and they're going to tell you a little bit about some of the projects they've done to um what they're going to put into the time. So, you guys want to come on up? Hi, my name is Daisy and I'm an eighth grade ambassador and me and my friends have made the 100th year time capsule and we have made it for our future Delhi Eagles. >> Hi, my name is Ashley. I'm also a creative ambassador here at Delhi. Um, for

the time council, we interviewed some of the students and staff who work here. My crew and I went around the building and asked people asked people what their favorite memory has been at Delhigh so far. We got many different and fun answers back from everyone. Delhi Middle School has been has a great community built by amazing people and we would like to remember it with the help of this time council. Thank you. Hi, my name is Violet Aman and I'm an eighth grader ambassador at Delh High School. Along with talking about memories, we also have focused on what life is currently like in 2026. Over the past few weeks, we've worked on recording videos where we answered questions regarding this. Along with the videos, we'll be including many items that show our culture and current

life. These include things along the lines of uniforms, a yearbook, a Chromebook, an eighth grade t-shirt, and programs and flyers from specific school events. We have also made sure to include news or trends that are popular right now. As long as anything specific to Delh High that can show what makes our community unique. We hope that all these pieces will come together to give future viewers a clear idea of what it's like to live in the year 2026. Hello, my name is Kai and I'm an eighth grade ambassador. I made this poster. Yeah, the poster is important because it allows you to see the real life examples from other students on how how much the high school has affected their lives. Also, the poster is a way of adding a deeper connection with students as

you get to learn about their personal lives and how they view things. I chose to make this poster so you could see how students think to to wait to so you could see how students think to help them to help understand them and how they feel about DHI middle school. This poster can be used as a way to make Dohai Middle School enjoyable by all. Thank you. Yeah. And one of the things I thought was interesting as they were coming up with ideas was to have like a digital component to uh and so they mentioned doing some uh videos and so I'm going to show you. We just been catching snippets and we'll put these together over uh some time but just a couple of snippets that you'll see that people will get to watch

uh in the next celebration that we do. It's Ashley and Violet. It's 2026 100th year Delhi. And for a fun way to celebrate, come along with us as we introduce you to Delh High. >> And so they're going to give a tour kind of Delhi through the old building so that future generations can kind of experience what old Delhi is like, I guess, would be a way to put it. Uh, and then they mentioned doing some interviews with the staff. So, here's a quick little interview with Mr. Miller. You guys know Mr. Miller. >> Who am I here with? >> Uh, with Mr. Miller. >> And what's your favorite memory at Delh High? >> Uh, my favorite memory of Delh High is at a pep rally one year. The team limpic battle and I sang

I wanted that factory voice in everyone. Yes. warm my mother. >> So Mr. Miller likes to entertain the kids. So it's just a cool way of kind of giving a picture for what life is like today. Um and then add to that tradition of just conduit in 100 years and things like that. Um so we are doing some other things. Uh I want to extend a special invitation. So next Thursday Dell is hosting a homecoming event. Uh, and we're doing it up big. We're going to throw a big party for the community and for our alumni uh to come and explore the building. It's going to be Thursday, April 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Uh, we're going to have all kinds of stuff. Delhigh Historical Society is going to be here. They're really excited

to talk about the history of Delh High Schools. Um, we're going to have a ton of current and former staff and people who taught building row in the halls. I have some former principles who will be here. Um we have a new mural that we our art teacher miss put together um that people can take their picture with and they're going to be able to sign their mural so they'll have kind of that ability and then our hope is to be able to display that in the new building once we get there which is really exciting. And so we're going to have lots of fun things, yearbooks and scavenger hunts and all kinds of memories and just celebrating uh really this place and not just the building, right, but the people that make this place

so special. why we've lasted 100 years. So, I hope you guys can come on that night. And then we're doing all kinds of other things. We're going to do a former staff lunchon. Um we have a student assembly that we're planning for the fall when we get back. We've been doing decade days so far this year. So, our social studies teachers have taken on. They love to teach about the different decades. So each month they're teaching about what Delhigh was like in 1930s and what Delhigh is like in the 1940s. Uh we do throwback Thursdays which is kind of fun to like think about all the fun memories. Uh and then my personal project I've been interviewing different alumni posting those on social media just as a way to kind of document you know people

right what has made this place so much fun and special over the years and why people chose to stick around. Uh you know because school district. So, we are uh just beginning our celebration, but we're excited to continue it all year. Uh we hope you guys get to enjoy being a part of it as we go. So, that's all I got. If you guys have any questions for me, okay, the big phrase around Delhi is once an eagle, always an eagle. Uh so, Mr. back knows that well, but we're excited that you guys are part of this board and be part of the Delhi family as well. Thank you, Brandon. And I was fortunate to be a principal here for a number of years and and it is uh there are things hidden all over

in this building is all I can say. At one point, we went to clean some areas out and we found some newspaper articles from the ' 40s, the '50s, the '60s about World War II. I mean, it was wild. And they were just kind of buried in these back uh offices. And uh you never know. And then my parking spot every day, I believe, says no horse riding on the back property. Is that correct, Grady? Somebody always said, "Do you have a spot?" I said, "Yep." It says you can't ride horses on the back property. So, welcome to Don Middle School. >> Thank you, Randy. Great job. >> Hey, treasures report. Steve, >> thank you, Mr. Hy. Uh, several items this evening. Um, first we will start with the financial report for February. In your

packet, you'll find the pink sheet. Uh, it's just right in front of that pink sheet packet. So all right uh financial report for February general funds total revenue 17.2 million total expenditure 7.9 million if you flip to the back side that may be 16. Our ending cash balance in the general fund 31.9 million. We did receive a tax advance of 14.8 8 million other than that standard activity in the general fund. Uh the permanent improvement fund total revenue 2.6 million total expenditures 187,000 uh in our ending cash balance in the PI fund was 4.8 million. Uh we also received the tax advance uh as well um in the U permanent improvement fund. Uh a couple other items I'd like to share with the board in the community. Uh we received our audit report uh from

the auditor of state's office. As the board is aware, Brookfield School District is audited on an annual basis. Uh proud to report that our audit came back as an unmodified opinion, which means it's the highest quality uh with a clean audit. So that's great news to the team and the staff here at Oakills. Um as well as just like to report that um Mr. West, Mr. Beck, and myself met with Representative Oio. Uh that was several weeks back. Uh as you are aware as a board in the community uh we continue to advocate on behalf of Oak Hills. Uh Representative Podiosa was kind enough to give his time to hear our story. Uh certainly there are concerns from Oak Hills and many school districts regarding public funding of public school districts and our funding is

no different. So, we really appreciate Representative Otoso giving his time and coming over to district office and us out trying to take some things back up to Columbus. Um, the only other thing I have is just on the communication piece. Uh, the Oak Hills Alumni Education Foundation dinner is May 6th. Uh, that's Wednesday night. It'll be over at Western Hills Country Club. I invite the community to join us there. Uh, that will be starting at 5:30. Um, visit the OAF website for additional details. Other than that, that's all I have. Thank you. >> Okay. Thank you, Steve. Do we have any director's reports? Okay. Did anybody uh any constituent sign? >> Yep. Okay. Any old business? Okay. New business. Treasures recommendations. Mr. President, I have number one, the minutes. I recommend the board of education
