Let's go. Miss Hoffman >> here. >> Miss Conklin >> here. >> Mrs. Lavallet. >> I am here. >> Mr. Feller >> here. Mr. Bowden >> here. >> Thank you. Please join us in the pledge of allegiance. Flag is at the back. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you. And with that, we are with you, Dr. Mley. >> Thank you, Miss Hoffman. Good evening, everyone. It's so nice to see everyone out this evening for our board meeting. I will keep my superintendence report short since we have such a large number of commendations for tonight. Um just a couple of announcements and um acknowledgement. First, I would like to say

thank you to uh Northview High School who hosted a veterans breakfast last week. It was absolutely amazing. Um the veterans had such a wonderful time and we thank each and every one of them for their service. I see a couple of them in the audience tonight. So, that's always a good feeling. And thank you to our very own veteran who sits on the board of education, Kim Conklin, who is also a veteran. So, thank you for your service as well. Even though we started last week, we have several activities scheduled throughout the district tomorrow, not only um here at Timberstone, but at Whiteford and Maplewood and Silven Elementary School. So, I'll be out traversing the district tomorrow with a lot of different events celebrating not only our veterans, but um the freedoms that we have

that we are able to take advantage of each and every day. Another thing I wanted to share is that boy, it's orchestra and band concert season. For those of you who have children in junior high, you know, if you know, right? Um, but this week alone we have a McChord band concert, a Timberstone Orchestra concert, a McChord and Arbor Hills Orchestra concert. So I will have a couple of busy evenings out and about this week. And finally, just a shout out for uh North View Theater. Uh they will present Charlotte's Web starting on uh November 20th. I have shared in different groups that I have had the opportunity to speak that it's a great opportunity to see great theater right here in our hometown. Nothing beats it. It's a great date night, too. So, if

you're just thinking of something to do on a Friday or Saturday, take your significant other to see Charlotte's Web at Northview. Tickets can be purchased on the district website, or you can go directly to the Northview website and go to their theater page. And that concludes my superintendent report. >> Thank you very much. And with that, we're at commendations. >> This is the exciting part of the night. This is the best part of the agenda. We have a number of commendations that we will recognize tonight. Um, some include SAT scores at South View and ACT scores at South View as well as at Northview High School as noted in the agenda. But now, without further ado, we have quite a few athletes in the room tonight to acknowledge and commendate. So, we're going to start.

Um, we will actually announce names and as we announce your name, if you would come up and get your certificate. Um, we will also take a photo. So, parents, if you're wondering, you will have a photo op for your child so you can me memorialize this moment. In addition, uh, we will always take a group picture at the end as well with each team or with each individual. So, and just up front, Miss Hoffman will repeat this, but after we go through all the accommodations, we know that our students have a lot of responsibilities tonight with homework. Um, please feel free to stay because we have another exciting part of our agenda tonight that's very important for the future of Sylvania schools, but our feelings will not be hurt if you have to choose leave

to go home to do homework. We understand. So, with that, I think Miss Hoffman or Mr. Feller, I know you've been looking forward to um passing out the certificates for our soccer team. I'm not sure who's doing this or how this is going, but >> it's going to be Mr. Feller. >> Mr. Feller it is. >> She said she wasn't going to stand. That's really good up there. All right. So, >> um, you can stand probably. I'm going to say over here. >> And these are the soccer team certificates, I do believe. So, we're going to start. >> Whoa. Okay, everybody hear me out there? It's good. I see so many smiling faces. This is so good. All right. Tonight, we are first going to begin with commendations for our South View High School boys

The team one. >>

Item 10.3 is the appointment of Tim Zero as the superintendent effective August 1st, 2026. And I would move approval on that. >> I'll second. >> Um, okay. So, I would say, you know, there are there are a

couple things that we do as a board of education. Um, one of the most important things we do is to hire the superintendent and the treasurer. Um, and that's a responsibility we take very seriously. You know, knowing Dr. Mley is leaving us and we are going to miss you. She's done great things here, but she is leaving us in July of 26. We had a lot of conversations about do we do a search? You know, how do we go about finding our next superintendent? And as a board, you know, we thought about doing a search and then we realized we had the perfect candidate right here in our district. Tim has been in education for 28 years. Um, I think starting out as a social studies, language arts teacher, and then moving on to being

in Swanton as a teacher, an assist an athletic director, dean of students till he joined us in Sylvania schools in 2011 at Arbor Hills. He's is the assistant principal, then the principal until he moved up um to the assistant superintendent in 2017. Um, I've known Tim since 2011 when he started here. Tim is collaborative. He is uh he is really a a great leader. He builds great relationships. I think he has the trust of our staff, our teachers, our family members. Um, you know, since we made this announcement last week, the positive feedback has been outstanding. Um, I'm really excited to see what you do as the next leader of Slovenia schools. So, it's this is I think this is going to be great and I'm really proud to know you. Anybody else have any

comments? I have a few words, but I will wait till after the vote, >> right? Go >> ahead. >> I'll wait till after the vote. >> You guys will first. >> Um, yeah. I just want to say, you know, obviously congratulations to you. Welldeserved retirement. Um, you know, you you came into the district at a pretty difficult time during co and I thought did a great job of getting us through it and setting the district up really for success going forward and just congratulations Tim. I'm really excited, looking forward to working with you. Um, and like Julie said, you know, we we had the right leader in the building. So, looking forward to it. Congratulations. >> Anybody else? Veronica. >> Um, well, I just wanted to say to our board president, the members of board

of education, and to our school community, thank you. Um, because tonight marks an important moment for our district. And I want to sincerely extend my congratulations to you, Tim, on your appointment as the next superintendent of Sennsylvania schools. You know, we've worked alongside each other for the past five plus years, and I've watched you lead with integrity, humility, and a deep commitment to our students, staff, and families. Um, you understand this district. you understand Sennsylvania, um, its people, its values, and the high expectations that really our community expects, and you've earned this opportunity, and how you will serve this district is going to be unprecedented because you're ready, and you're the perfect fit for this position. I've often said that leadership is not a solo journey. And it's been an honor to support your growth

and to mentor you along the way. And tonight we're celebrating your readiness to step into this role. And I am confident, 100% confident the Sylvania schools will continue to thrive under your leadership. And on my final note to our board and to our community, thank you for your partnership. Um, as we continue a thoughtful and seamless transition, our work is grounded in a shared belief that every student, every day deserves the best. And that's what we will continue to do hand in hand all the way through July 31stish. I think you said, Tim, maybe before, I don't know. I know you're here. >> I'm here through July 31st. It's a little joke we have. But anyway, the mission remains unwavering and I would like our community and our staff and our teachers, our educator, our

whole Sylvania schools family. I look forward to supporting this transition throughout the remainder of my term here. I am going off into another part of my journey, retirement. I'm not counting the days. I will make the days count and I'm not done. I'll be around doing some other things. So, congratulations, Tim. I am excited for what lies ahead for you and for our Sylvania schools. >> Adam, let's call the role. >> Julie, >> yes. >> Greg, >> yes. >> Dan, >> yes. >> Kim, >> yes. >> Tammy, >> yes. >> Congratulations. >> Mr. Zoff, do you have any words you would like to share with us? >> Excuse me. I do have a few words. Just uh want to say thank you. Thanks for the five votes. Uh extremely grateful to for the opportunity to

serve in this position. It's a it's a tremendous privilege to to be the next leader in Sennsylvania schools. Um I know Dan and Julie already heard this when we announced it's the administrative team, but I I would not have pursued or signed the contract I'm gonna have very shortly without without the people on this stage. And I'm not going to get too deep with Adam and Josh because we're going to continue our work together and it's it's a pleasure working with the two of you, but I but especially the board of education. Um again, I said this on Tuesday, but you you talk to superintendents in the state, you have those conversations about boards of educations that may have individuals who come on with a vendetta or an agenda and it causes a a pretty

significant commotion amongst the school board, against the school community, against the community in general. We we don't have that here. We have we we do have a set agenda. All of you handle them in different ways, but your agenda is for the overall well-being of our students during their time in Sennsylvania schools and then preparing them for success after they graduate. And I would not be doing it if I didn't have the support of a school board that that has that mentality and it's it's appreciated and in continue to move that work with you move as we move this district forward. Um Dr. Mr. Mley, thanks. I I appreciate you day in and day out for about 5 years now, four and a half years at least. A lot of our conversations are Superintendent 101.

Here's what you need to know with Superintendent 101. And I know we're going to transition, you know, a little bit more deeply the next few months, but you you've been transitioning with me for for five plus years and and that's appreciated and I appreciate all the support and the kind words you said for me. It's, you know, my my main goal every year is as the assistant super superintendent is to serve and support and be behind the superintendent and and hopefully I've fulfilled that and will continue to fulfill that. So, um I do want to make it clear to and I know it's on camera for for those who may be watching, but and she said it already, you know, I'm I'm a be where your feet are type of person. I am the assistant

superintendent until July 31st. Um she is still at the helm. Um, I will continue to help support those decisions as needed, but I just want people to know that, you know, this contract that's being signed that that date is not until August 1. So, thank you to everybody on this stage. I I I really appreciate it. I do want to recognize, you know, some some family that's here or my family that's here. Um, see my mom's out there, my brother-in-law, my sister. They weren't invited, but this is a No, I'm joking. My mom was invited, but maybe not my sister and brother-in-law, but all the meeting, but more importantly, my uh my support staff or support team specifically at home that starts with my wife Christy. Um she has supported me all along in any

administrative job I've had. She's also an educator in a neighboring district with 20 plus years of education. Um she's an she's a reading teacher in a neighboring district and she also does all the heavy lifting at home. I'll be the first to admit that. I don't tell her that enough. She's an outstanding mom, an outstanding wife, and and has always supported me when I have to take that phone call at 9:00 at night or I have to run to do this or I'm going to this event or that event, and and that's appreciated uh the support she has. The other thing about her, we do our best not to talk about work at home. Sometimes that works better than others, but one thing she has always reminded me of, regardless of any administrative job I've

had, is is what it's like to be a teacher. and she reminds me of that all the time like don't forget what it was like to be in the classroom. It's understood you're in central office or you're a building principal or an athletic director and you know at that little higher altitude in a school district. She's she's always kept me grounded reminding reminded me what it was like to be a teacher. So I appreciate and continue to appreciate your support. Then I want to thank our daughter Landry. Uh, she just got braces today, so I'm not sure how much she's going to smile, but um, you know, we moved here. We moved to this district in 2011. We closed on our house the day of my first interview at Arbor Hills as the assistant superintendent

in Sennsylvania schools. And we were going to start a family. Uh, we were blessed with one child. Um, but but the main reason we moved to Sennsylvania was for the school district, period. That was one of the main priorities of coming here. and she's a seventh grader, 12 years old, even though she's been in the district 10 years, two years of preschool and kindergarten. It's hard to believe it's been 10 years, but um the opportunities that she's had and and her experiences um and just the support she's had from from teachers, support staff, counselors, um administrators, we couldn't ask Christy and I couldn't ask for anything else um through her time here in Sennsylvania schools. And as rewarding as a and as appreciative as I am to to be named the next superintendent, it it

is a close second and I'll end with this. It's a close second to know that she will be a graduate of Sylvania schools. So appreciate the opportunity. Looking forward to continuing to work and move the district forward with all of you. Thank you. Appreciate it. >> Thank you. >> You can clap. Go. Okay, with that, this is the second opportunity for public participation for items not on the agenda. Seeing none, I will move that we adjourn the meeting. >> Second. >> Adam. >> Julie? >> Yes. >> Greg, >> yes. >> Kim, >> yes. >> Tammy, >> yes. >> Dan, >> yes. Thank you.
