for e for e for e for Here Comes Natasha wayer another shot and a goal Natasha wiered her second goal of the day nice pass outside toan steps back and DRS it he's feeling it tonight hey good evening and welcome out to Air Academy High School here at the gymnasium here at the high school of course home of the cadet for a District 20 match up to wrap up league play in the regular season between the discovery Canyon Thunder and Air Academy here tonight in D20 volleyball we've got a pretty good contest here of course uh as I mentioned this is the final game of the regular League Play There are uh one more they're going to squeeze in next weekend but uh the final game of of the uh league for both of these
schools now if you look at both of these schools they're fairly similar you look at the record maybe not so much but uh overall they're they're pretty similar with the same league record and uh pretty similar teams I think evenly matched absolutely Sam you know you look at this and throw those records out and look at those numbers 219 23 85552 is really blocks the Thunder the reason the blocks is bigger on the Thunder we'll get to in just a moment when we talk about their players yep and uh you look at the last nine matchups they have the same opponents in those games they're both two and seven in the last nine so Tak a look at Air Academy now um not a bad team and they they've got a fantastic freshman they certainly
do Haley Payne you're looking at her right there she is fifth in the Pikes speak league in assists with 346 everything's going to run through her and that's that's a lot to do for a freshman but she's up to the task and you're going to see that tonight for the Cadence and uh you look at the the whole roster there's another big freshman on their starting uh lineup as well L Hollis the middle blocker outside hitter another freshman on this team so they're going young tonight but it's worked for them in a lot of their games so far this season um you look at there's the schedule that we were talking about there if you look at the last uh this is the last 10 games here bit of a losing streak right now they've
lost three in a row trying to get get a back in the winning ways before the season is is they played some tougher teams V Ridge obviously one one of the classier teams in the Pikes Peak League Le Palmer way up there they haven't been defeated they've only lost two sets all year Palmer Ridge shine Mountain that is that is like a murderous row it is there for the kadat but they did get that one win against Falcon I'm sure they're hopefully to get a win tonight against that's right the other league win is came against San Creek back at the end of September now if we look at the keys for the Air Academy cads there are three main things they're trying to focus on tonight against Discovery Canyon Brian yeah they certainly are
shelle small told you before the game that you know the things they want to do is serve tough they really want to get their serves across the net and be able to try and get some points get some Aces out of that swing away which he means by that is she wants her outside hitters and her middle hitters to be able to just pound that ball into the ground if if they can get that then they'll get their offense moving and they also want to take away the short game from a Academy because Air Academy tries to do some dinks and dumps and they want to make sure that none of those score points for DCC that's right now the Discover Canyon Thunder they they're led by a pretty solid person right right there at
the net yes her name is Ashton PRL if you haven't heard of her she is the sophomore and she stands 6' 5 in tall she dwarfs salon and she she has some pretty impressive numbers too she's third in the league in blocks with 44 she has 113 kills to lead the team as well and she is a sophomore and she she's she's a good basketball player they just recruited her because hey she's tall and she can stand there and throw her hands in the air like she just doesn't care and block something and she may develop into a fantastic volleyball player I mean she's already great she may become a really great volleyball player as well to add that to to her standout high school basketball career as well now Discovery Canyon we take a
look at the the rest of the roster here Brian and uh some other solid contributors on on this starting lineup yeah they have some great Christina schal is going to be one of those players that you're going to look for Jen Halls really who they kind of run the offense through and as far as a Setter also Hannah pel who has 21 assists on the year both her and Hall will be will be putting up the sets tonight and of course I think we'll hear a lot of Logan thas name as well at that libero position here's a look at their schedule I talked about some of the common opponents you look at them they're also on a three- game losing streak you talked about how tough some those are Mr Le Palmer and Palmer
those last three yeah they're they're really tough and like you said the ball coming but what you will notice of the discovery Canyon they've actually been playing better they got a set from Mr Ridge they got two sets from Palmer Ridge so I think coming into this game maybe Discovery Canyon is the team that's got the Ed bit of momentum headed their Direction quite possibly all right uh we look at the keys to the game for the Thunder and the three things that they really want to focus on tonight to be able to knock off a kind of get the upset on the road yeah Melissa Bravo really making sure they want to make sure they don't miss any of their first serves get that first serve in when you get the ball and you
have a chance to serve after a side out you want to make sure you get a chance to score a point in that time they also want to have some high energy and she wants to see them getting excited when they make a point let's get together let's let's high five let's let's scream a little bit and get excited when we when we get a point and when they have a point scored against them don't hang your heads too much because you just got to get back to the next point point then finally you want to finish your set strong and uh score more points at the end of the set than they do at the beginning all right thanks Brian now if you're a big fan of D20 Sports D20 TV sports of course
at D20 tv.com is where you can watch the games live streaming but also you can join in on the social media actually Facebook and Twitter as well pause we'll head the break real quick and we'll be right back for hey welcome back out to Air Academy High School Brian German joining me Sam forworth for your coverage of tonight's game Discovery Canyon at Air Academy A District 20 matchup here to wrap up league play in the PE Athletic Conference and uh it's a good one Air Academy is still kind of holding on to Hope outside chance of getting into the state playoffs this is a big one for them Discovery Canyon theyve been building some momentum as we looked at the schedules moments ago winning a couple of games in some of those losses building that
momentum hoping to wrap up their season with a big win on the road an upset win against the cadet as you saw they both come in on three game losing streaks they both played three of the best team better teams in the area and uh but Discovery Canyon was able to get some sets off of those teams while Eric was not we'll have to see because the cadet always play well here at home we'll have to see starting it out there for the cad is Haley pay the ation freshman for Air Academy getting ready to open it up Opening Service in play Discovery Kan knocking it back over there's pay with the setup is that in nope that is out I could not see that all right the long hit by Simone Butler it's one
nothing to thunder to start off so service back to the Thunder Maggie Owens will put this one into play pay over to Butler Butler knocks it over but uh into the called a lift actually lift there we go all right she gets called for the lift so it's I I don't know I didn't see it really as a li but I guess the the official saw different Owens with the service again Butler over the net thunder coming right back it's J hall hitting it out so the cadet get on the board with their first point on the hitting error by DC and Cadet get Logan Thomas coming excuse me that's Matty Miller coming that was a good serve right there that's the first service Ace of the night for the cadex evening it up early
on two a piece that's Paige Petty back on the serve once again for the cadet putting it into play Discovery Canyon with the hit over is Leah Lester hit long but tipped at the net there by Eric Cy the point to Discovery Canyon going back in front once again 32 they will get the ball back for for the service and it is Christina schneibel junior middle blocker for this team wow that's a great great as you mentioned great serve great play by Petty too diving over to get that one into play just no one else on the other end of of that d schneibel came into this game with 10 Aces on the year she serves at 92.7% clip that's pretty good 42 and then just like that had to jinxer right my bad my
bad right the net it's now 4-3 so Eric Academy getting the ball back on on their end Lila Hollis the other freshman in the starting lineup for the kadat with the serve nice serve there but DCC keeping it in play block at the net what a play the team teaming up there was Paige Petty and mdy Miller yeah you can see it right there Jen Hall just didn't get enough under it just barely got it over the net and Miller was right there to put away the lock I'm sorry that was Sydney Lambert joining in there so it's all nice job Sam do I get a do I get a dig for that no Academy going ahead on that hitting error by Discovery Kon it's 54 Hollis serve is down for an ace cat Air
Academy with their largest of course ear but the largest lead so far in this opening game at 64 Hollis is the top server on this Air Academy team as far as aces are concerned this is her 29th on the season right the corner at it again put into play by Discovery Kyon hul gets it over now Miller bumps it back to Discovery Canyon there it is pral trying to get points on the board she's Buck out back up on the net though and into the net into the net was ER Academy on that side MD Miller so Discovery K getting back down six to five J hall on the service there don't you worry about the cad is asht right there in the middle I mean you really got to kind of attack outside and
stay away from her when she's in the middle J hall tough Serv ER there into the net actually make it a a onepoint game again yeah as mentioned was involved in that series before here we go again looking to get it over nice block at the net by Sydney Lambert there's pral just tapping it over though back up is Miller with the oh they called into the net that's what I thought foot underneath the net there on that side DCC 85 now so Butler will go with that left hand again on the service tapped up for prle she is denied by Eric C's defense and it's Lambert knocking it back down right after the block a chance for the Cades Sydney Lambert and Maddie Miller right there right they were ready for pral on that
one they were waiting for that short set and they handled it perfectly as they went right up with her and put it right back the N to five lead forcing a discovery Canyon timeout four point Advantage now here in the first set you the cad shell small talking to the cadet right now she's got to be pretty excited to get that fourpoint lead you said I I told you the cadet play better volleyball here at a Academy High School and and they're one of the teams that really has that home home court advantage there's Melissa braavos Discovery K of thunder and there you see Ashton bre kind of shoulders above the rest of her teammates there but as we said she's still kind of learning the game of volleyball so that's kind of where maybe
these Air Academy players can uh use their experience against her she's not really aware but I tell you what give her another couple years she's going to be a stand out for DCC I'd like to see your maybe maybe a little more force on some hits they haven't been quite that forcefully but we'll see where it goes from here as Discovery Canon bumping it over but uh went outside the an outside the antenna yep so it's 105 Air Academy lead now as Butler continues to serve for the cadet and a little bit of a momentum going here for Academy that's Leah leer hitting into the that for Discovery Canyon one another point for the cadet a got a little rolled on yeah Thunder really got to worry a little bit here you want to make
sure you get some good good kills on the outside with that make sure that ball is set perfectly Jen Hall hasn't got her feet up under the last several times you can set the ball that was a little unfortunate but the Air Academy keeping it alive there there's pral Butler with the Dig there's one of those there's one of those soft points that net that we talked about that Air Academy wanted to prevent but they were not able to that Simone Butler on this one looked real close Jen Hall with the attack on two that was really close I'm not so sure that Eric Academy's page Petty didn't get her hand underneath that but it was called down good play for Discovery Canyon there's Lambert with the the kill attempt and it's pral coming right
back a great dig there by El payment good little rally going right now now back to Miller and that's going to be long and out another point for Discovery Canyon that's what you like to see if you're Melissa Bravo just keep the rally alive just keep the rally alive get that ball back over to the net wait for the other team see if they'll make a mistake and that time the cadet did it's two straight points for the Thunder Leah Lester with the service for the Thunder that one's going to be long so they give it right back to Air Academy that's a service there that uh I believe that was one of Discovery Canyon's keys that to avoid those first service errors yep Miller over to the Thunder kept Alive by the cadet and
there's pral at the net joined by her teammate Hannah pepl that's bre's 45th block of the well actually no it was blocked by Hannah pel we got her 19th block of the season oh and just like that Air Academy right into the net that's Paige paty giving Discovery Canyon a point there on the error it's 12 to9 game for Discovery Canyon Logan Thomas back on the service for the Thunder Thomas one of the captains on the Thunder team along with Jen Hall and Hannah pel put up top for Lambert she tries to tap it over but met at the net by Christin a schn who just puts it right back down watch it again just Lambert tries to dink Schneider right there for the block schn right there for the block and puts it down
and Discovery Kane's right back in this game twoo ball game now Thomas with the Dig P hit is dug up and Air Academy goes long by Paige Petty there so it's a one-point game again the momentum we seen a couple momentum shifts here and it's right back over to Discovery Canon at this point Kad were hoping it was outside the antenna they asked the judge the judge said almost that one is going to be out another point for Discovery Canyon we've got even ball game or even volleyball game now into the net that time for the cadet a good shot of the Freshman pay Thomas overhands this one back to Eric Academy tough one there by Maggie Owens couldn't quite get it up over the net just time that under a little bit what Air
Academy is doing is there keeping Jen Hall off of her game right now Discovery Canon isn't making very good passes when they're getting those when they're receiving those serves on the backside they're not getting a very good pass and J hall has to run all over everywhere to try and get a good set Thomas nice Paige peny Taps it over but it's right back Discovery K nice attempt there for Maggie Owens she gets the kill and it evens this game up at 13 again nice set this time they get it to Maggie Owens and you see it right inside the red line the back line there and there's a good look at Maggie it's p with the ser there's lla Hollis with the attack Owens hits it over but they're under the net so another
point for Air Academy go back in front they call that one a MD Miller or maybe not I guess I guess I had it backwards yeah they call it on Maggie Miller Eric ofy end of the net there we go so discovered Canyon remains on the survey here with Hannah p nice kept it alive back up to Maggie Owens dug up and Eric cademy right back tipped at the net and Paige Petty gets the kill for Eric Academy to tie the game back up the 14 I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of this a lot of this close game lot of back and forth yeah I kind of mentioned it before I think these te teams are very evenly matched you look at just statistically wins and losses in League Play
I mean they're they're right there with each other stink nice block at the net that was J hall Eric Academy bringing it back Petty gets it gets it up under the net the into the net I should say there and Discovery Canyon get another point back in front a strange little play there as Discovery Canyon was able to overcome the block the ball came down good job by Jen Hall keeping that one alive nice dig there by P keeping it alive Owens plays it over there's the kill that's what you want to see from Eric L Hollis The Freshman throwing it down good job nice set there by P and Hollis just puts her power into it swings away that's what Shelley small wanted to see tonight swinging away at the ball Thomas couldn't quite
catch up to that one for a discovery Canyon so AIC Academy back on Ser once again finding a finding it short for Thomas that's Paige Petty with the service Ace Paige Petty had two service Aces coming into this game she has tonight Ted again and that's going to be long by Lea Lester another kadex point and they're starting to grow another bit of a lead here two points 1715 and it's more of a key point of the game right now when you get 17 18 19 you can start to build a three and a fourpoint lead that's where you want to do it is at the end of the game that's a great Kill by Hannah pth excuse me Jen Hall she was met at the net by a couple of Cadet but is able
to power her way through nice job you see her right there get it off wow four hits yeah was you mentioned it Bri great effort L Hollis trying to keep it going but uh not able to get that unfortunately you don't get four hits no 17s comes she's met at the net a nice block by Jen Hall the senior Captain Jen Hall is probably one of the shorter players on the DCC team that's her 11th block the season a good looking Jen she did a great job one of the captains she gives them a onepoint lead and the C for Air Academy for a timeout we're going to head to a quick break but we'll be right back with more high school volleyball here on D20 TV e welcome back out to Air Academy High
School it's a one-point game Discovery Canyon with the 1817 lead here in the first set and they're on the service and another point for the Kad just like that coming out of the timeout as Christina schn with the service her second Ace of the night 12th of the Season schne as we mentioned a really good server and then she had the service ERA last time I mentioned that so I'm sorry Christina if you do it again a that's twice I'm I'm not gonna talk about it again I'm not going to talk about it again all right well it's a one-point game Discovery Kane still with the edge right now 1918 but it is aademy who has the advantage with the service right now Lollis puts it over into play B back Hollis set it's Thomas
putting it down to even the game at 19 a nice kill there by Thomas going Cross Court Che it out again and again pay with a nice set big swing up top perfectly in place and this game is tied so here's Hollis back on the service once again nice an ace for Hollis giving the cadet the 2019 lead 30th Ace of the Season watch it again she just has great placement sometimes she hits it hard sometimes she goes soft with a short one like that she's tough to read placement a big part of it another tough serve there but this one handled nicely by Discovery Canyon set up for Thomas crosscourt kill excuse me that's Maddy Miller got my names mixed up apologize MD Miller but it's all evened up as she hit that one
out of bounds it's 20s a piece Jen Hall with the surf for Discovery Canyon here's Miller Taps it up Thomas is there to receive it nice that nice play by Paige Petty it was just a tough one kind of went a little too far and carried into the net Hanah ta an impressive Kill from the mid row there she's she can really r eyes and get her hand under over that ball and send it down Eric Cy trying to come with an answer there's Miller tapping it over put back up for Discovery Canyon a nice attempt there by Leah ler but it is long and we have ourselves an even game once again well we said was going to be close all the numbers look close right now it's really close and these balls are
close on the on the end lines as well up top there's PR Academy coming right back pral at the net with the block and that's another point for Discovery Canyon good job by pral that's her 45th block of the Season as we mentioned third in the league in blocks coming into this use that height and and arm length to her Advantage make it tough for Air Academy we talked about it earlier I think one of her shorter teammates it was Hannah Pentel had a block at the net earlier but I think partly because right next to her was pral the size there you want to stay away from her if you can yeah yeah 2221 and Shelly small taking a time out for the cadet she wants to talk this one over and there she
is a good look at her and her team I I really think that there's going to be a lot of tension on the court tonight because these two teams are so evenly matched 22-21 here in game number one and I you can't get any closer oh it's a good start for both of these teams and this this first game or set could determine a lot of what we see going forward I mean it you win one set momentum is in your corner could steamroll from there but then again it could be one of those matches where it looks like it's building up to be back forth A lot of times yeah a lot of times when it is close like this the team that wins this set it's a really ad a real big Advantage
putting it back over to Thomas up top she's met at the net but that still goes down for the kill now a two-point Advantage for Discovery Canyon nice set there by Jen Hall sets it the P she just beats a block by Miller Here Comes Lambert with the kill getting the ball back to Air Academy keeping him in this one it's 23-22 now Sydney Lambert right in the middle there that's exactly what Air Academy needed just a beautiful set there by pain once again another assist for her and a point for the G passing it over Discovery Canon on the other end oh it's a tough one El payman couldn't quite hold hang on to that one that's just a tough play right there with the bump Right Down the Line pay thought she could
play that one might have been able to let that one go might have been out of bounds but Discovery Canon right here on the verge of winning set one set point in play and into the net is Paige Petty of Air Academy handing set number one over to Discovery Canyon 25-22 we're going to go ahead and take a commercial break we'll be right back with more District 20 volleyball here on D20 tv.com hey welcome back out to Academy High School we have one set now in the books between Discovery Canyon and Air Academy Discovery Canyon taking the opening set by just three points 25- 22 but as you mentioned earlier Brian the first set in in a close set could potentially be what sparks the team to further success oh I I especially think so
when you're the visiting team and you just took a you just took a set from the home team that was arguing ju maybe the favorite in this game Discovery Canyon's got to be feeling good about themselves right now and you can see him smiling up a little heart for the people in this that's great I think that's for you Brian but yeah on the other hand one thing you don't want to see from discovered Canyon is for them to get too comfortable relax and then uh potentially potentially get into a little bit of trouble maybe definitely so here we go set number two now underway Paige Petty with the kill overy Kanan handling it nicely good little rally to start things off here here's Petty again the kill knock it down a Academy opening up
the scoring in set number two exactly what Air Academy needed to start this game and they get a good job here by paying another nice set over to Petty she puts it down for her 102 kill of the season and she will also open up the service here in set number two for Academy Dink and dunk over the net handled well by a Academy it's Butler putting it back into District Discovery Canyon's hands but at the net well with the kill there's Leah ler Leah Lester The Freshman for this discovery Canyon team she's really come on as the season has gone along here she gets a nice kill there Alisa Bell with the service there's mil Miller oh that's a tough one there for Sydney Barnes kind of or excuse me Christina CH kind of
a swing of Miss there that's a tough one you hate to see errors like that and Bell's GNA come out of the game and back comes in Maggie Owens for Discovery Canon to hit that back row Hollis with the service good one there but still handled well by the Thunder put back over by P that's a a carry a lift on Air Academy so that evens things up a two each now and you get Ashton prle back in there on the rotation for Discovery cany she's back up front schne won the serve Here Comes Lambert but she's blocked by pral at the net Eric Academy still maintaining control but Miller's hit it hits the antenna so that is out of bounds and side out or actually they had the Ser so was a point there
for uh Discovery Canyon taking the lead now here comes Butler her attack is hit long and that's a two-point lead early for Discovery Canyon now after that long one yeah aem's got a really worry right now shell Small's got to keep a team together make sure they don't get too far behind here in set two schn goes into the net giving it right back to Air Academy making it four to three now looks like it's going to be Butler taking it back for the Air Academy service now to try to even things up third service eror there for Discovery came put up top there's pral with the kill she's bringing the hammer on that one using her size advantage and that leverage to put it down this is what you're going to see in the
future here from Discovery Canyon if Ashton PR continues to play volleyball and uh you can tell she likes it when she gets those big kills as well tough defense to to go up against something like that nice service by the Thunder that's Jen Hall putting it making it a tough one for Air Academy to handle and it results in a service base six to three Paul putting it back into play again it's Butler on the receiving end Miller trying to get it over but hits it into the net another Discovery Canyon Point they're out to the early seven to3 lead you'd think that and indeed I was about to say You' think that coach Smalls would want a timeout she takes advantage right now to hopefully halt the discovery Canyon momentum and we will take
our quick commercial break we'll be back with more ER academ Discovery Canyon volleyball right after this break welcome back out to Air Academy High School where the discovery Canyon Thunder are leading in set number two 7-3 they won the first set trying to take a second here and they are on the service right now Eric Academy it's Lambert with the kill that's long and out and it's another point for the thunder8 to3 J hall really making a run here for the captain for for the Thunder she's getting some good sets across this time Eric hady able to set something up but uh just a little bit long by Lambert Hall putting it back into play this time it's Miller taking a go at it on the attack Hall setting things up tapped over a nice
play by Eric cademy that's p with the point and it's a 93 lead another a look at a beautiful set there by Jen Hall to set up PTO a good look at PTO Hannah is just a sophomore for this discovery can got a young team they could be really do some good things for Melissa Bravo here in the next few years only two seniors on that team and there's another point on the service Ace and as you mentioned got a little bit of a run going here for Jen Hall Jen Hall is a senior on this team one of the few seniors on this discovery cany team along with Logan Thomas the only two and uh she's got the experience and she knows exactly where to serve it make it three tonight back Aces there
for Jen Hall it is now 11 to three and eight-point Advantage Discovery canyon really starting to open things up here and the substitution coming in for Eric Academy is Simone Butler comes in for CA Mafi Miller Taps it over met at the net by pral but to no success there Miller will try again that one is hit long another point for the Thunder and the roll continues again we talked about this earlier in set one Discovery Canyon unlessa it's telling her team hey just take your time make sure you get it across the net and Eric ademy is having a tough time playing these balls Hall back in play Miller again they keep going back to Miller this time she's met at the net by prle with the block Miller once again going at PR
this time she finds the corner and a point for Air Academy putting a stop to that discovered Kyon run they needed to do this and Miller this time goes outside the block of pral and finds that corner good job to stop the for Air Academy so Miller will put the ball play from the service J hall bounces it up into the net so another point for a Academy it's 12 to five now Melissa Bravo talked before that she wanted to get them to have to finish better than they start in a set it's pretty hard to finish better than the 12 to three start but that's a good play right there yeah there's Hannah pel getting the B ball back over to discover Canon not letting a Academy get on to a a a run
of their own Lisa Bell back into the game and there out comes Maggie Owens High that's uh Paige Petty putting it back over but Discovery Canyon coming right back it's p and she's got another point backto back points for p and the discovery Kenyon Thunder the lead now nine just's another look at it a Academy just just over the line there and they called it a point for Discovery Canyon the officials called to each other and now Ashley PR's gonna relace her shoe they're calling us out they're calling us out Sam they're calling us out over there what are they were they ask there they are guys hey what's up go nuts go crazy you see they there go there you go there you go on camera that's right baby got to love that hey
tell Mom and Dad log on.com it's a good way to keep track of your kid maybe my kid doing tonight he is at the game all right another service Ace for Discovery Canyon that's Leah Lester coming in with that one and it is now a 10 I believe it was 10 points it was 145 minut ago was it maybe I miss still have 145 on the scoreboard though another serve there for Discovery Canyon that's Lester with the Dig and coming up with the kill attempt there hit long though is Alisa Belle ER Academy getting the ball back down 14 to L sh just got a little bit too much under that ball and send it s it flying see if the K can get back into this set here Sierra ball with the serve coming
back it's pth again put up by Miller now coming down hard nice nice attack by the Freshman L Hollis another kill for her cutting the lead in half now she is showing some serious power tonight when she gets in that middle position and she just gets a really good swing going on ball with the service and it's not handled well by Thomas so into the net another point for Air Academy it's 14 to8 Academy really wants to keep this run going now and get right back into this game still down six though got some some work to do but if they can continue to do that they'll be right back in this thing so Sierra ball once again on the service pral kill is dug up by Air Academy so they're keeping it alive trying
to bounce it back over but into the net is Haley p and Discovery Kon doubling their lead once again or almost D I don't know that very well it's 15 to eight that was a tough one you can't see in your camera there it went up and it hit the rafters here and kind of came straight down on Air Academy side that's a tough ball to play but you got to be able to play it getting it over is a Academy keeping it alive a nice tap over by Discovery Canyon Jen Hall though Jen Hall is known to do that he's got 52 kills 53 kills on the year now that that that goes in the books as a kill right it's a great job the attack on two surpris him a little bit little
de there 168 discovered Canyon here comes a Academy and the block again teaming up on that is p andelle wow oh no schn great job there as both of them get up schneibel and pel right there at the net air cademy looked like they weren't even ready you got to be ready for the block and a Academy definitely wasn't ready for that one Thomas quick back into play Here Comes schne knock met at the net though by Lila Hollis The Freshman once again making her presence known getting that block SCH actually hit that one into the not sure jall got a good enough set on that one maybe didn't get it high enough for her to hit it over so pay putting it into play now back over to pel she Taps it over but
it's going to be long and out another point for the cadet 17 to 10 now chipping away Jen Hall really doing a good job for Discovery cany changing things up she's doing back set she's going middle she's going to The Far Side she's doing a great job tonight so far and pay with the service Ace One the handle for Thomas near the back line there tough one to figure out if she need to let that go or not uh definitely would have been in we talked a lot about Ashton pepal and what she will be doing pral what she will be doing but how a Haley pain this freshman that's a second straight Ace for her she does it again and now a bit of momentum heading in air Academy's Direction forcing Discovery can to
call a timeout it is 17- 12 there's uh Shelley small who's been on the uh the other end of calling timeouts here tonight and all of a sudden her kadat have got something going they're on a roll she says this is very good they're starting to attack from the outside they have been getting some points down they're back to within five we'll have to see how Discovery Canyon and there's Melissa Bravo's team as I bring them up but the illustrious Cory good job punching them up there as I was talking about it but you know we have to see how they respond Now you won the first set you're up by five in air Academy's country right and if if you can win this game you're up two sets to none but if you lose
this game now it might all come tumbling down because you're on their Court exactly so good good timeout for Discovery K good opportunity to potentially break the momentum that ER Academy is starting to build here Haley p is is going to be back on the service once again down five 17 to 12 here in the second set Pain Services received by Thomas it's pel on the attack knocked back over by Miller but there is Bell right or excuse me schn right at the net and knocking it down Christina schne there was a good try by Pell and it comes back over schne heads up play right there just hits it right back over 18 to 12 the advantage for Discovery Canyon Thomas nice dig there keeping it going and equally nice by Haley Payne for
the kadet the rally is going net at the net is uh Hollis again with the block well this Mell on the outside here tried to get it and good job by Hollis the freshman in the middle to just block that one right back at her C lead back to five once again Petty on the service this one's going to be hit up for Butler Simone Butler on the attack it's received well by Discovery Canyon once again a nice rally going back and forth Miller with the attack it's Knocked Up won't stay up it goes down as n Academy Point 18 to 14 now they're back to within four went off the block can unable to get that one and a good job there by Matty Miller pett to Thomas again and Thomas can't handle another
Petty serve Paige Petty with that Ace making it a three-point game we're starting to see see this uh Gap get smaller and smaller lot of aces in tonight's game the kadet have seven disc Discovery Canyon has six the kadet student bodies loving it and just just like that Discovery Canyon able to silence them though it's Alisa Belle with the with the kill nice job going outside the block just pass Hollis on the left side now Belle will be back to serve putting it into play kept alive at the net and tapped over by the Cadence PTO back to Bell Thomas to petle there's Butler tapping it over for Air Academy the rally continues and blocked at the net by Butler Discovery Canyon putting it back onto Air Academy side of the Court Here Comes Miller
it is dug up and kept alive great play not able to keep it alive though that was a great play by Haley Payne at the net to give it give her team an opportunity Butler just not able to get over the net you see Christina schivo right there going get the double jump make sure that ball didn't come across Discovery Canyon now within five points taking set two with the service and a 2015 lead that's Hollis with the Kill The Freshman continuing to impress tonight keeping the her her Cadet in the ball game three blocks or three kills now for Hollis she will be back on the service as well for Air Academy another tough one to handle but Discovery Canyon does it's Pell putting it over the net back up top Miller send it
back to Discovery Canyon side pel up top the hall but she's met the block by Sydney Lambert Lambert the block on this one good position 2017 that keeps the ball in hollis's hands for the service but that's going to go long Discovery Canyon now four points away with the 217 Advantage here in set number two that's the first service error I recall for Air Academy tonight try and keep track of that sort of thing and that that's unbelievable this deep into the second set schn Ser is received by the cadet it's Miller on the ATT backing it down tough one for Discovery Canyon to handle and they're staying alive it's 218 mie Miller comes up with the third kill of the night Kane just does a great job setting her up on the outside Butler
on the serve that and that's in that was close that was one of those close ones Discovery Canyon opted to let it go it was Jen Hall thinking it could go long but that was in for Butler and an ace look at this right here Jen Hall not sure whether the play thought it was out but it was in and a service Ace for Simone Butler just her second Ace of the season with a little room to spare and it cuts the lead now to 22119 Discovery Kanan trying to Halt the little momentum that a Academy is building once again with another timeout talking things over uh just four more points you think that's not that much but uh sometimes that that can seem so far away still yeah it certainly is Melissa Bravo Down
On Our Knees talking to her team in the Huddle now as they have they were they were up at one point in this game 12-3 they're still have a lead but uh nine-point lead and a two-point lead big difference big big difference in air Academy they broke their huddle early a lot of smiles and high fives over there on their side of the Court they're feeling good right now feeling good with what they're doing of course they should only a two-point game now and it's Simone Butler back on the serve for ER Academy two-point game here in the second set Butler putting it into play go to pral puts it down a Academy handling it though they were able to keep this one alive once again prle with the hammer right off of Butler and
it's a 2219 lead I tell you when she gets set up that way in the middle you do not want to to be on the receiving end of this right in your face hit Simone Butler and she was just unable to handle it was too quick Hall with the service three points away from taking a second straight set on the road up top on the opposite side it's ble and that one is received and knocked out of bounds so now it is just two points away for Discovery Canon they take the 2319 lead last time out by Melissa Bravo really looked good and now Shel Small's going to take one for the cadet and I tell you what they're uh they're back on their heels once again and they go from a two-point lead to
a four-point lead and there's shelle small talking to her team trying to make sure they're going to pass that ball a little bit better on the back line just not getting enough good passes at this point in the game to pay him to set up those outside hitters maybe a bit of a surprise depends on how you look at it both of these teams as we've talked about all night very evenly matched they have common wins they both have beaten Sand Creek and Falcon and league play they both have lost to all the other league teams something obviously going to give tonight and right now it's giving in the favor of Discovery Canyon they're up 2319 here in the second set already with a one set to zero advantage and it's Jen Hall back on
the backline with the serve in the play it's Miller coming on the attack kept Alive by Discovery Canyon Beth with the left hand and she gets it to drop it's a 2419 lead for Discovery Canyon and you can see the energy that Melissa Bravo talked about get excited when we make a point well it's a lot easier to get excited when you make points when you're winning that is true and here it is set point for set number two for Discovery Canyon Lambert trying to keep Air Academy in it bring it back Discovery Canyon with the kill and that is it Jen excuse me Leah Lester putting it away to give Discovery Canyon a two sets to the lead J hall a great set to the outside there Leah Lester just pounded It Right Down
the Line 2519 two straight wins for Discovery Canyon we'll see if they can close it out in set number three that is a big time to go on the road and to take the first two sets of a match like that uh they're close 25 22 259 we're going to take a break right now with Discovery Canyon up two sets to nothing but we'll be right back at their Academy High School for more District 20 volleyball welcome back out to Air Academy High School we're two sets in and the this High School Pikes Peak Athletic Conference volleyball game between the discovery Canyon Thunder and Air Academy kit and here are the thunder on the road with a two sets tone lead 2522 2519 the scores in those and they came out of that break dancing
on their side of the floor so Eric Academy will get the third set started off and they do so with a service Kill by Haley Payne Haley pay 23rd Ace of the season and Eric Academy gets off on the right foot in set number three did that we heard uh coach small talk about the importance to uh serve tough tonight and I I would say that an ace is one way to do that here she comes with another great serve discovery Canyon coming right back though schneibel getting that kill or well the refs are discuss something here The the top official said that it was was in gave the point to Air Academy now he's changing the call so it is a point for Discovery Canyon on the schn kill evens it up at ones
here in the third set and back on the serve to open things up on the attack for Discovery Canyon is Alysa Belle it's tough when you're down two sets you got to you got to find the grit determination inside yourself try and get just a lead at this point for Air Academy and then push it out two points three points then see what can happen and there they get a onepoint Le on the double hit by discover Kan two to one Cadet early Advantage here in the third set a must win set for them to avoid the sweep on their home court put into Play It's Bethell up top and down with the kill well the attempt is Leah Lester but that's going to be out of bounds and another point for Air Academy 3-1
this is this is the way it starts this is the way you get back into a game when you're down two sets just one point at a time Petty with the serve and there there it is J hall with the kill another good job there and entering the game for Discovery Kyon is the sophomore Ashton PR the 65 middle blocker they'll go right at her well they avoid her but Discovery Canyon keeps it alive Lester with the kill attempt Air Academy putting it back over to DCC side Hall it's tipped Here Comes Miller tapping it over prel can't quite handle that's a double hit on her so Air Academy doubling the early lead Ashton prle not sure what to do here watch MD Miller nice tipped hits it right in the hand of Ashton and
she hits it again can't do that could be somebody inexperienced the Youth of her game I guess you could say another nice Serve by Air Academy but kept Alive by Discovery Canyon got to get it over Butler does so and it's a great bump over the net she put a little sauce on that yeah Simone Butler watch this again spins it off of her wrist hits it down Logan Thomas can't handle it good job by Butler 52 Advantage for the cadet it's Hollis with the serve that's another Air Academy point they definitely came out the right way in this set Shelly small said you going to serve tough you've now got 10 service aces in this match for the Cades PA has a few of those Discovery K putting it back over kept Alive by
the cadet Here Comes Butler with the left hand dug up it's Bethel hitting it high ler keeping it over but here comes Lambert knocking it wide left that's a point for Discovery Canyon six to three that's exactly what Melissa Bravo wanted against your reminded team just keep the ball in play keep the ball in play the longer you keep it in play the more chances are there someone's going to make a mistake and you're hoping that the other team does Miller with the kill and that is in in out I missed that out so it's a discover Canyon Point maintain the serve here 6 to four here's a good look at it again slowed down that's Mr Rob Parish on the replay machine showing us how close that really was Hall with that serve again
and this one is down for an ace six to five that's Hall's fourth Ace of the night watch it again here from The Far Side Paints the corner and Discovery Canyon right back in this one they had a four point deficit they could tie it up with another good serve here Hall it's going to be Butler going with the left hand again it's kept Alive by Discovery Canyon back into Air Academy territory Miller will tap it over Paul sets up pral she is denied by Lambert and now Butler on the attack but that is into the net with the intimidation factor of pral just on the other side it is tough when you're looking at the 65 Ashton pral right there in the center and that is a tough one for her so it's all
even at is now Hall with the serve Here Comes Miller Another nice attack by Miller pral couldn't handle it and it's an Air Academy lead Matty Miller's fifth kill of the night she does a good job this time she says Ashton take that right in your wrist it's going to go down bumped up by Hall tapped over by Bethell but it's long another Air Academy point and it's 8 to6 for the kadex heard the student body getting a little excited there during that last rally they're here to support and another service Ace by Butler Logan Thomas not able to get under that one well enough a Academy's lead is now three Butler coming back with that left hand going far side again Thomas gets it this time put up high be tail is denied at
the net she'll tap it back over going up for Miller Miller's had a hot hand earlier but this one is going to go long and it's another Discovery Canyon Point it's a 9 to7 game Discovery Canyon taking the serve back mie know she just got too far underneath that ball sent that one almost out of the gym that time she seems to be the choice uh of preference on the uh the setups there for Eric C's attack P Miller once again Miller's going to hit long into the net going be air point so they get a bit of a break there taking that advantage to three points now and Miller will take the ball back to put the ball into play on the serve back in Air Academy territory it's going to be Lambert this
time with the right hand and it's in 11 to7 Eric C with the lead is's going down the line this time outside the block of P She hits it on the line a four-point lead for Air Academy this is exactly what shelle small needed to get her team back into this game G forcing Discovery came to call another timeout now they had success halting those little spurts a Academy to go on with timeouts in set number two right now they're talking things over trying to keep things uh in check here I mean this is a great opportunity for Discovery Canyon all it takes is one set to build momentum for Eric Canon they can get one win they're on their home floor they know what it's like to play here they they know all the
nooks and crannies of playing on this court all it takes is getting one out of the way and uh the momentum could completely turn sides absolutely Discovery can that's what Melissa bra was probably taking that time out for just just making sure sett their team down they're not playing awful right now they just got to get back into that place where you're sending that ball across and waiting for the Cadence to maybe make a mistake into play Thomas receives it it's breal with the attack put up high by Butler though Lambert will knock it over another chance here for Beth Butler there again all up high to pel she just Taps it over this time and finds the open space on the floor for the point and athel her fourth kill of the night as
good look at her watch again beautiful set there by Jen Hall and she goes right over the block and gets the easy Point 11 to eight Logan Thomas back to serve this one gets it over the net nice Dive by Lambert ER Miller discover keep alive tough tough there uh Alysa Belle couldn't quite get it over the net that was a great attack though by Paige Penny throwing that one down deep on the Discovery Canyon line to get the point 12 to eight now it's Sierra ball the senior with the serve met at the net that's Hollis and that point will go to Eric Academy 138 now Kad really seen it if they can continue maybe get a couple more points here be up by seven look out puts it up it's going to be
knocked over by schn but that's a little far 14 to eight Eric the lead now opening up to six we got a substitution for Discovery Canyon that's Maggie Owens entering the game Alissa Belle will sit down Thomas will receive the serve tapped over great play by haly pay finding that open space on the floor of the Freshman getting a big point for her team yeah as the key Setter on this team Haley pay doesn't do a lot of that she has only had 15 kills coming into the game that was well timed by The Freshman there ball with the service again be putting it over ball setting it up there's P Petty on the attack nice under the net is a Academy the point will go to Discovery Canyon it's 15 to9 and DCC getting
the service back Beth back there mat Miller called for under the net that time see if the Thunder can roll off some points here Here Comes Hollis the right hand and that's a point for Eric Academy 16 to9 Alis has some big swings on the outside she did a great job once again getting the side out getting another point for the cadet haly pay will put the ball back into play pel to schne Taps it over ball putting it up high it's Miller knocking it back the other way but that's going to be long and out little far I should say out of bounds 16 to 10 this is the key point of the game for Discovery canyon really needs to get back into this this set right here just keep the game alive make
your opponent make some errors there's Butler with the left hand it's off the top of the net and into the net I think yeah what they're calling against Eric so the point going to discover Maggie Owens on the service P putting it up for petty that one hit far again out of bounds 16 to 12 and Discovery Canyon again just creating you see the cadet start to hang their heads shell small you really don't want to see that they're ahead by four points in this in this set you just got to play a point by point at this time and keep your heads up if you're Air Academy that's one way to do it Hollis but a great dig by Thomas and schne trying to hit over but she is into the net so Air
Academy getting a big Point 17 to 12 the advantage for the kadat now just a little too close to the net there for shal she hits right into to the net that's actually a big point for Air Academy there they were starting to hang their heads but now they're back up five Paul with the attack Paul keeping it up for Eric Academy but no one's on the receiving end and it falls to the floor it's a 17113 lead as Discovery Kenyon cuts into it that was a tough tough play there by Sierra ball team didn't know if it was going to go over the net up just short Miller on the attack it's met at the net by by pral another block for the middle blocker fourth block of the night now 48 on the
season for Ashton freal Discovery Canyon back to within three timeout Eric Academy 1714 the advantage for Eric Academy it's getting smaller coach Bravo got to be pleased with us J you see a little smile from her there it's hard to attack we we talk about about it all night when you got 65 middle blocker and uh you've got Jen Hall right next to her kind of taking away the near sideline there's nowhere to go but at pral and with those arms it's tough to get by her a great job there's Melissa Bravo again talking to her team she's got to be really happy I mean they come in here to Air Academy both these teams are two and four in League Air Academy better overall record at 8- n Discovery CH 5 and 11 but
as I said Discovery Kan has been getting better and better and better as the season has gone along they really showed it tonight taking this first two sets and now climbing back into this third this is a huge accomplishment for Melissa Bravo's team talking to coach small before the game this is a big game for them because they still have playoff hopes that they can win this and potentially show well in their next tournament so discover Canyon on the service it's schne putting it into play ball on the receiving end up top to Miller Miller's hit is long and out it's a 175 game now it's just down to two points another one of those close sets attack errors have really been Achilles heel for ER Academy tonight too many times they've had good sets
and just not got the ball in on the kill it's Hollis with the right hand it's received by schne though no one there to get that bump and it just falls to the floor to Air Academy getting a bit of a break but a big point for them I think hanip tell thought that one was going over the net her teammates consoling her right now it's still a three-point lead they need some good serves here from Hollis holl has had a few nice ones tonight and there's potentially another one Discovery Kean keeping it alive pral getting it over the net back up here's Miller with the right hand but into the net tough hit there by Miller she had some open space there but couldn't get it over couple of attack errors now in a
row from Addie Miller let's hope she doesn't hang her head she's she's a better player than this she can turn it around teammate's trying to bring her back up now so substitution for Discovery Canyon Belle coming back in for Owens and Hall with the service clearing the net received by Petty it's Miller with the attack it's going to go off the hands of prel be pel with the left hand and it's in the home fans oh it is it's out it's out so Eric Cy does get the point you heard a little bit of a groan from the crowd there after that initial reaction but indeed the ball was out another point for Air Academy a three-point lead 1916 the up official had a better look at that one he overruled the down fishal on
that one and got the for the pral with the right hand barely gets it but you know what it worked she'll take it it's a two-point game now she just got the fingertips on it but you know what usually when there's someone uh like her hitting the ball it's coming with a lot more Force than a can didn't expect that back into play there's Lambert tapping it over with both hands DCC right back ball with a nice dig but not good enough as Jen Hall getting the point for Discovery Canon it is now a onepoint game the Wy veteran Jen Hall saw a spot in the back row and went for it and she got it in there just in front of the diving Sierra ball here's a chance to tie it for Discovery canyon
ball well played off the serve Miller on the attack with the right hand it's received by Thomas back up top is p and she's met by both Lambert and Miller it's a block for ER Academy they're back up by two there's another look at it a nice set pep goes right into the block and that's a block by Maddie Miller and that's going to get her spirits up a little bit better and here she is with a Ser 2018 a Academy lead kto with the right hand no one on that and makes it a one-point game once again 20 to 19 Discovery Canyon got what they needed out of pral right there but now she has to come out of the game as she's rotated into the back row comes back in there Logan Thomas
will take care of service duties tapped up and over but Discovery Canyon keeping it alive the right hand of bell is put into play this time it's pel with the left hand Lambert back over Patel with both hands this time over to Petty she's met at the net though Butler keeping it alive oh great nice dig great dig oh couldn't quite handle it P with a great kill that was a great rally for a confidence building rally for AIC Academy they just didn't end up getting the point a d there by Paige Petty as she Dove to keep that ball alive but P gets the kill and all of a sudden we've got a tie game 20 all here in the third set Discovery Canyon leading two sets To None currently of course they took
the first set by just three 2522 coach Bravo Smiles there in the in the timeout she still likes what she's seeing from her team and why not especially after a point like that last one a hard fought point you see you see a play like that the Dig by uh Eric cademy that's a big that's that's a big momentum type play but uh Discovery K not face pel with that left hand yeah pae Petty made a great dive at that that's why she's one of the captains on this Air Academy team because she makes plays exactly like that that's one of the best digs you're going to see goes flat on the floor able to get her hand underneath and keep that ball in play but then when you make a play like that and
the other team comes back and still gets the point it can be Dem moralizing and right now you're down two sets shelle Small's got to Rally her team get them back up in this third set coach Bravo's team already on the floor she doesn't want to over talk over talk her team when they're playing as well as they are just get him right back out there get him ready to play more volleyball it's Logan Thomas just waiting for the officials invitation to put the ball back into play what they do they invite him yeah I think so you know you get a little email or something you know you don't have to you just got to do it there we go and that's one way to get right back into it out of a timeout
Paige peddy with the right hand kill P Petty right there the block there for Discovery Canyon just not strong enough by schn on the other side and the cadet take that onepoint lead now Sierra ball will try and improve on that tough Serve by ball getting it right into the net and uh by tough serving tough that's not what I meant but that's what coach small was talking about before you got to get those first serves into into play anoun 21 all and it's pth putting it in for Discovery Canyon Butler to Miller over to Hollis the right hand is long out of bounds Discovery Canyon has climbed their way back to take a one-point lead 20-21 three points away from taking the match attack Errors By Air Academy have been their their down ball
tonight beautiful Serve by Pell ball couldn't handle it it's an ace it's now a two-point lead 2321 for the thunder thunder you like the sharks trying to put this one away you gotta love having pel in the game with this opportunity at the service but unfortunately she hits it long giving Eric cademy another another opportunity it's 2322 for Discovery Canyon pay back to serve for the kadex Thomas receives it up top to Bell she hits it long and we got our El a tie game once again at each Bell just too much underneath that ball she send it sailing way off into the left hand corner we are tied here time out for Bravo in the discovery Canyon Thunder we're going to take a quick break but when we come back we've got ourselves a
close one it's Eric cademy Discovery Canyon here on D20 TV welcome back out to Air Academy High School District 20 volleyball we've got ourselves a close one here in the third set 23 all in a potential match winning set for Discovery Canyon AIC Cy trying to keep that that from happening pth up top Miller can't handle the the Gen Hall hit and Discovery Canyon now with Match Point Jen Hall a good kill there and they got Alysa Bell back to serve for this one the junior in the play and met at the net there it is Jen Hall with the game the set and match winning block Discovery Canyon taking the match 25 to 23 here in the third set it's a sweep on the road at Air Academy love to see that one nice
big block there by Jen Hall she does a fantastic job she had a great game tonight the senior for Discovery Canyon Simone Butler with a chance there to try to keep it going for Air Academy instead it ends in a sweep it's a 30 win for Discovery Canyon and that potentially could be a a tough loss for Eric Academy in the RPI rankings the power rankings that determine ultimately which teams go to the playoffs they do have one more tournament to come but uh you don't like to end the game or excuse me the the regular season league play in a 30-0 loss unfortunate for Air Academy great win for Discovery Canyon certainly it is Discovery Canyon moves to three and four in the Pikes Peak league and the last game for the cadet they
fall to two and five they fall to eight and 10 on the season so they'll really have to do some damage in that weekend tournament I'll give you a couple stats here for the for the kadat Matty Miller LED away with five kills L Hollis with with four Paige Petty with three on the Block side it was Sydney Lambert and mat Miller Leading The Way with two a piece for them and then they had several Aces that was really what they were doing most where doing most of their damage were the kadat uh Hollis with three paig Petty with three and also Haley Payne with three AC but it was not enough because Discovery canyon really took care of the game tonight and they did it with all of the people that they have Hannah
pel had five kills Jen Hall with four and then they had two kills from Ashton pral and Leah Lester as well lots of blocks five from pral that's what you would expect but four key Aces for Jen Hall and a great big win for Melissa Bravo they moved to six and 11 on the season so once again our final from Air Academy High School after a a sweep Over The Air Academy kth Discovery K in three air Z it was 2522 2519 2523 and that'll wrap up our coverage here on D20 TV thanks for joining us for the league finale for these two two teams and for the season I'm Sam fars with Brian German have a good night thanks for joining us
