Um, >> welcome to the those who have arrived. We've been in executive session. We're uh we were in executive session um to uh prepare for or review negotiations or bargaining sessions with the employee and also um to discuss the contract of one single. All right. And now we're back for recognition of the public. We have none. So we're going to go on to the committee reports. Um before we start, Mr. Weber, thank you for all those um inserts you put in the Friday highlight about belonging and inclusion and about CAC. I appreciate that. >> So, um would you like to talk about belonging? >> Yeah, I can start off and and others can join in if you want to provide some detail. We we've had two meetings, I think, since we've had our last board
meeting. And so, we've met on September 29th, we met on October 22nd. Um, and you know, part of the the theme of those conversations has been to really um talk about ways that we can share the the great work of the belonging inclusion collaborative um outside of that group. And so had lots of conversations about how do we connect with our students, how do we connect with our families and our staff members um and and Erica's been leading those those discussions. really powerful engagement um and that it's just connected to directly to our strategic plan and and creating a culture where people feel feel valued and feel connected. I don't know if you want to speak to anything particular about the the meetings. >> Well, I think what's been a great energy my Vaness inerson
meeting in September um and great engagement also via Zoom um in October but we I feel that we've started off differently than we have in the and that we we really wanted to not only on board our many community members and staff members um and provide them with um just the the timeline pathway that that has followed >> um but also to bring in their votes because we gathered some great feedback from the book um in the spring in April at our last meeting and we wanted to bring that back to everyone's awareness >> um and and really lean into that feedback to drive the work that we do this year. Um, so there's been great input um, and just even wins for getting the work that we do outside of our circle out into
the buildings um, to positively impact our students and our staff. And so it's that's >> great. Thank you. All right. And CAC. >> Yes. >> You want to talk about >> I knew that >> had that first meeting. >> Yeah. I think uh Tim and you you were maybe the other meeting you guys were in. So Susie and I think she did the did reveal or the unveil on what teams people were on and um there two projects and so she made the comment that everyone got their first or second choice. >> Pretty excited. it was on Zoom and so try to give the highlights that you normally do up front and then give context on the projects and support people getting started with it. So there was a lot of good energy there as
far as people getting going. Um Susie was called in to answer some questions, you know, answer things relative to one of the topics. So was it all pretty engaged and thankful for the opportunity to engage in the discussions at a different level given Sim and Genie weren't able to join required to kind of help drive some stuff and part that sounds good. >> Thank you. This should be interesting. >> Are they excited about the studies the people in the happy with the group? >> Yeah, we are. I know you wrote them and I know I read it. >> So, um, one is the young alumni survey and so it's reaching back to remind me of the the graduating year. It is going they're going back additional they asked actually I'm not even sure if we
talked about this yet but they did inquire about going back a little further. >> Um so I think it's maybe 2018 to 2024. >> Okay. >> Uh those graduating years I believe and things are still shaking out so that might change again that they were interested in. >> So there'll be a little bit of overlap which is fine. >> Yeah. and they are pursuing right off the bat they are trying to pursue creative ways to reach out to people because one of the um issues that we found last time I think CC did this is just minimal response >> responses so they want to be able to um meet people where they are a little bit more maybe not email maybe some other ways and so they're >> the other studies homework and study best
practices so what does research say about the purpose of homework and utilizing homework as a learning tool from an educator's perspective and then how do we help support students focus on best practices with regard to study habits routines and we're hoping that those can really meet in the middle to to just educate >> our families and our staff about how to make that new useful for learning >> thank you for that reminder >> uh the district leadership team there's no reports so now we're ready for facilities I'll share a couple I'll share a couple updates um that I put in in my update. Um so I think the big the big one is the built up progress. So all buildings at this point have been demolished. Exciting but sad on on you know the one
end >> um and the debris has been removed. So, right now they're working on clearing vegetation and removing the concrete slabs. Um, I think they're still at a point where buildings C and D, so if you're if you go down the driveway, the two buildings on the right um are complete. Uh, and so they're continuing to to work on that. Um, on a different site, we've been looking at um designing an alternate school site for Elm School. So, we've been in conversation with the Presbyterian Church of Wyoming. Um, and so one of the biggest things that we've been looking at is the sewer line and just making sure that that would support our students and staff. And so, we just finished actually got the feedback today. I just finished the scope of that and found
out that there we were worried that there might be a break in the line. There is no break in the line. So, good news. It can support our students and staff. That was perhaps the biggest question. Uh, and so that is very very good news. Um, and at Elm, there's still some work that's being done to just monitor and check the the surface. Um, there's a different rating that you can have in the school district on on the the ground. And so we're continuing to to check that just in preparation for when >> will be the community >> had that Elm community workshop too the other week and so a couple people came out. I think the um architect does a great job with getting feedback and sometimes it's hard to balance as we know
like people get really invested in their area school. So to balance what we maybe have talked about in meetings and why we got there and then listen to feedback and try to bring together what we can to make a happy mix. So um we're just always evaluating the feedback from that. It's a great turnout of people with different opinions and um And we'll meet again. We typically meet every you all meet internal for facilities weekly external we meet every other week. I think this one we have next week instead of this. So um you know that's when we'll gather again to kind of talk about what we discussed there. >> Thank you. So important dates. >> Um so the next uh we start the Vermont uh community engagement um with the design workshops. So, the
first one for Vermont school will be Monday, November 10th, 6:30 p.m. at Vermont School. Then we'll go back to Elm for the third design workshop there. That is December 8th. Monday, December 8th at 6:30 p.m. And then we also are in the uh we're planning a cere ceremonial groundbreaking at Hilltop School on uh no Monday, November 24th, 4 p.m. that'll be postcard to all the households and for all these. >> All right, great. >> Thank you. Uh, the finance committee did not meet today because of our executive session. We do have a meeting coming up and um, is there anything else? >> No, lots of like activity. None of it's good. And then we're waiting on our October income tax settlement. So, we'll put those two items. Hopefully, that will be good to counterbalance the
activity in Columbus. >> All right. Thank you. um policy and if you don't mind we'll skip right now because we're coming up on some policies. All right. So now we are at primary facilities report. So, we decided that we needed a home for all the primary facilities action items >> and and so um after after putting them in the board report once and maybe a superintendent report once, we decided that the best home for them would be just right at the top so that we would be able to easily flow through the agenda and then when we're going back to look for something. So, um we're excited. So, this would be the second uh resolution. And the first one was the demolition and you just heard the update there that that is almost complete. So
uh the next one is the um the early site package and that includes a number of items and I if it's okay I'm just going to kind of hit some of the highlights and so this overall is about $95,000 under budget this particular item in in the project. So again this part is about 5%. And so this is uh earthwork and that was the key line item that was under budget of of this particular um site package. The earthwork itself was about 230 $255,000 under. And then um the geotech was kind of spot on. I'm sorry. The geotech was a little high. The retaining wall was a little bit higher. And then the site water and gas was just a smidge higher but saw some significant savings uh in the earth work section. And so
this uh the the low bidder is actually the same company that did the demolition. So it'll be a nice transition from the crew that are doing the demo work out to the early to the early site application. So the earthwork being under budget uh significantly under budget um and that was because the boring results so the soral borings indicated that we really have minimal rock excavation. I think we um even when we were talking about primary facilities two or three years ago, we talked about that we had done some work and just we were really unsure what was going to happen once the buildings came down and what that what the rock excavation was going to look like. Um the site retaining wall and the site water and gas are just slightly over budget. So
that estimate was kind of spot on there. So that's good. Um there was um um a shift and and my core team members will might have to chime in here. We did make a switch when we um yeah decided to take the main water service off of Riley Road instead of Oliver Road. Remember we identified that. So that was good. Showed a little bit of savings and then um a little bit of undercutting on the geotech. And so uh again overall about 90 $95,000 under budget which is approximately 5% and and confident with the contractor and and nice that it's the same folk that's been doing the demolition. So they'll be right there and can just start working. So >> present that for your consideration tonight. >> Okay. Then may I have a motion to
approve the facilities report? Primary facilities. >> Second. >> Roll call. >> Mrs. Yes. >> M. Brick. >> Yes. >> Mr. Felmmeer. >> Yes. >> M. Thomas. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Jean. >> Yes. >> Thank you. >> Um. All right. Next are the policies. We'll go through them. Um please everybody jump in that was there. Um I might I have mine in a little bit of different order because the very first one that's listed there 1422 non-discrimination equal employment opportunity and anti- harassment is um is a replacement for 1422 and 3122. So, um, just sort of I'm not following the the list already, isn't it? That's what I'm trying to say. >> Okay. So, uh, this one is uh, and mostly it's just it's it's just to replace what was already there and use um, terminology
that is now part of our regular vocabulary. We had to um on many of the things we've done this time, one of the biggest changes is we remember we had a a change in in staffing. So we had to change our compliance officer number. >> So this is not anything else. >> There's a change to the notice language here, but right >> since highlighted, >> right? So that's 1422 and 142202 and um 3122 unless somebody wants to jump on that one. >> Nope. >> All right. So then the next one 16 13 is student supervision and welfare. Um this was updated to use the word grooming which was now in the vocabulary. >> Well just wish for it but there it is. Y um anybody else have anything else on that one? >> Okay. >>
Um then we have um 1623. This is uh section 504 ADA prohibit prohibitation against prohibition against disability discrimination in employment. Um this one is is like verbiage. that there's some words um some pronouns that got changed around um you know how they're trying to get rid of the he and the she's and the his and hers and so they worked on that once more we had to change a compliance officer and um interestingly enough the uh local office of the civil rights was closed during um the thing we just have all been going through and therefore if you want to find anybody who's still involved in civil rights you have to go to decent. So that that got switched out about two. >> All right. The same as later too, isn't it? >> 313. >>
Yeah. >> So, next one I have is is um >> No, never mind. Next one I have is 2260. Is that right to everybody? >> No. 1662 harassment. We've got 1662. Let me pull it back up. I just got >> the percentage. I was like it just out on my computer. >> Okay, that's one. >> All right. Sorry, that got in there by the >> Yes, we did have some I >> mentioned the number >> 1662 is is resended. >> Yes. Okay. 2260. That's where we are now. And that is another one of those address changes. Um, and I think that's it. That's all I have in my notes. >> That the Office of Civil Rights is now located in Washington DC. And we had a change of our compliance office. All right. Um, and
that was Sorry, I should have read it. Non-discrimination and access to equal education opportunity. The next one is um 2260.01 which is prohibit prohibitation >> whatition prohibition against discrimination based on disability. This one is um tied to that dear colleague letter that remember we received last school year. >> Um but once more it it mostly the change that you would see is is with the office of of um >> where the is going to >> yeah where it's gonna where it's going to go and the compliance officer. But um the any word any verbage you see is trying to hook up with the new wall or letter. Um 2266 is non-discrimination on the basis of sex and education programs or activities. And this is here we go again. The letter got changed but address changed
and the um there is a little bit of change in words. Well, I mean the um >> nothing >> the definition. >> Yeah. A definition >> of um criminal sexual contact in C4. >> Um but nothing that changes the intent of of what we've had before. All right. Now, I'm about to go into a number of them that um have something to do with HB96. HB96, of course, was the bianial budget. So, some of these are are tied to like 24 30.02 participation of community STEM school students in extracurricular activities. Um we've added uh the word bullying in and somewhere in here. I have to look find it exactly. And um the other thing is it used to be that anyone could be involved in the extracurricular activities. Now it's uh delegated to just homeschoolers.
Is that correct? Everybody with me on that? >> Versus, >> well, it could be, you know, if you were an open district, which of course we're not, >> and somebody wanted to come from another district because they had been bullied in that district and wanted to come with your, we would have had to have >> entertained that. >> And my favorite one, my favorite one of all the ones we talked about because we we had some whacking on them. Um 2431 has to do with a hockey team. Let's just go with um this literally um was what somebody wanted. If you have a hockey team in your district and somebody who doesn't live in your district wants to play on your hockey team, they can because they don't have a hockey team in their district.
>> Less than 20 miles away. >> Yeah. 20 miles away. So keep that in mind if we ever get a >> did not include >> we did not include >> Oh we didn't put that in. >> We did not include >> well I did >> they got to go somewhere else but that happened. Yeah, I was gonna say I'm like play hockey because we don't have >> you're not playing hockey on our said not not >> all right. Well, this >> we didn't >> Okay. And um 3130 is about assignment and transfer of teachers and this falls in line with our current contract. So I don't believe we had any particular issues. Is that correct? Is that I said yes. I >> Okay. Um 5130. Um somebody will have to totally explain this one to
me about pulling the drivers. >> You jumped like >> Did I I >> Please. >> I'm so sorry. All right. 3130 wait >> 30 312 >> 3122.02 that fell in line with 1422 and um >> Uhhuh. >> So we we >> Yes. >> that 3130 >> 32 >> 3130 >> that was assignment >> is is about transfers and assignments for teachers and that's in line with our contract. So >> we don't have any particular issue with that. Now we're at 32 13. All right. Somebody else has to talk about that one. >> I'm in the there. Go for it. That was also the language of my grooming. >> Yeah. >> Oh, the grooming language. See, so I have it. I have stuck. >> Oh, probably because you >> So sorry. I combined mine. >> None
of them already covered. >> There was another one. >> Yeah. Yeah, that was covered with >> And it just adds It just adds the word literally. It doesn't change anything. >> And then probably why you skipped ahead, Genie, from 3362 because anti-harassment was >> another one of those that one then >> 3362 is rescended. >> Okay. So take that out. that will not show up. And then we're at uh 4122, but that I we that's part of that nondescript non-discrimination uh one that can we did earlier as is 4122.02 address. >> Yeah. Just changed the address. And then 4123, same thing again. All right. And then 4213 was kind of kind of the same. Well, that's that's why it's confusing because there's a 3213 and it's similar to the >> that's just the language of
grooming. >> Yeah. >> And then 4362. >> Somebody's going to have to tell me because >> Well, that's another anti. >> Oh, that's why I don't have it. Okay. >> Okay. Now, we're at 5130 withdrawal from school and and now I'm at the driver's license. >> Okay. If someone would like to explain, >> I think it removes the superintendent's right to pull away a driver's license for a student to the center of that trans whenever student under the age of 18 withdraws from school without moving state transfer to another school being granted an age and school certificate or enrolling in and attending program super by the judge of that court. Why would you pull the congress? >> What would the thinking be behind that? >> Sorry. >> Well, you just had to notify the DNG
and you can pull. >> That's right. >> Oh, got it. Okay. We don't >> It's just not >> And now you don't have >> So, it's really just mixing that though. That's the same. It's just getting rid of the registar and changing his and her students. There's not big changes from 2000. >> Right. >> Okay. Okay, 5136 is um this one is kind of sitting among some politics in that it's it's compliant with the governor's wishes, but the legislature is, if I have this correct, is considering maybe tightening up those rules. >> Well, what what we've done to this is really just match what our practice is. So we set our practice at the beginning of the year and so this policy has changed the the legislative requirements have changed a little bit throughout the
fall >> and so we have just aligned what the policy says to what our current practice will be from the start of the year. >> So this is personal communication devices >> right >> where we're we're staying right now and I perhaps there will be something else we'll have to address later but it's not here now. Uh 5200 is the next one and that has to do with attendance. Um it follows an old policy with new language that aren't necessarily new ideas, but once more because of um HP96. It um some of the verbiage had to change, including um measuring by hours. Is that correct? as opposed to uh days >> for attendant. What makes >> sure the driver's education course is part of the attendance plan. >> Yeah. So, we'll see where those go.
And then um um this is release time for religious instruction during the school day. And I believe that this is still I mean this is where we are right now but this is still a moving target in terms of what that final um policy will look like. But at this time it still gives us the some decisions about whether or not a child can be released during the school day during instructional time for religious instruction offsite. And um that's >> yeah it just outlines the for that >> basically periods and yeah >> on this one >> I know with our last round of policy changes there were a few where the opening language suggested that the new policy was >> one of our um ideas that originated from us. Um this is something that has
been handed down to us from the state of Ohio. I just wanted so that opening line says board of education desires to cooperate with those parents who wish to provide this instruction um for their children but also recognize its responsibility to enforce the attendance requirements of the state. Um I again just an open question of whether we want to properly source the the desire and the impetus for this policy. I mean, it sounds like we have to adopt it, but >> state the state has mandated. >> Yeah. Just don't fix that. >> This is our This is our verbiage, right? >> But we changed it last time to say Ohio law requires Ohio requires, but this one still says the board of education desires. And I thought I don't think we've done this one, this
particular one. >> There there was an earlier >> policy change and this is an update from the earlier policy change. So it might not have caught that. So I'll go back and check. >> Then will you go back and make sure that changes we decided we wanted to set that little introductory paragraph. It would just you just move to the second paragraph, but it would say Ohio law requires that student shall be provided. >> Okay. All right. >> Our pocket forever. um the the thought about whether we want to part what it says we want to partner with parents and we realize there's a managed >> our district as Dave's not in school because of Jewish religious considerations which is an indication that we do want to partnerly so I don't know that that language
in this policy would be a violation of what we're doing >> I'm not you know going to b the sword on one or the other but >> I didn't find the language on that one was similarly as >> challenging because it it represents We want to have balance around. We want to part we want to partner with parents. We have consideration and we realize there's things that have to happen for the school to work. So yeah, >> that was why for that one it hadn't been. >> Yeah. This would be for offering it during the school time on school hours >> which um you know we do still have the ability to control what that means. >> Sure. Sure. It's more complicated. >> We want to hold on to days where nobody goes to school
>> account for some of I do think your point's a good one too and how this might inform the conversation that the DT has when we talk about calendar and how we want to structure just again >> make this part of that larger consideration >> right because we do offer good Friday as well. Christianity in the context of this policy >> whatever the group as a whole thing >> you mean for the policy itself >> the policy itself that also gets into talking about they're allowed to bring >> you know the religious back >> should we because we did have a discussion of that at the policy meeting that the line any private equity providing religious instruction during the school may distribute educational and program materials to participating students. We did have a conversation about
that. And then the next line is non-educational or nonprogram related materials however are not permitted for return to school. >> Oh right. They can't bring it to school. So they might take it >> distribution in the materials provided by outside groups is governed by board policy 9700 which means >> that was the policy we talk >> you know if you brought it in you'd have to put it in the locker I suppose >> book bag or something if if that were even to take place during the school day >> not I think the the conversation we had was about disseminating that information others in the building back into the closet >> which is still not acceptable to know. >> So I think we've just discovered that the the the copy that you have in front
of you doesn't have the most recent change that the board approved. >> Oh. >> So the board approval, thank you to our research team here at the table. >> Just discovered that. >> Losing my mind. See, the one that was approved on June 23rd says in 2025, the state of Ohio has mandated that public >> public schools adopt a policy that permits. So, we've already taken that action, but there was further change that I think Congress could think. >> Okay. >> All right. So, we don't have to go back. That will be in place. I I guess what I'm thinking about is during the 30-day read period will we will reissue the updated ones. We'll get you an updated copy. Thank you. >> How does that help? >> Sorry, sorry for the sidebar. Tim, this
is helping me understand that like when we make a local change that I lose track of it that we lose it through the change. So then we have to somehow monitor what we wanted because then it goes to norm and he puts it back at like the state >> policy as a default because he's sending that to everybody. So how do we track? >> Norm starts with our policy in most cases. I think he started. >> Yeah. >> So, it's us remembering the ones that we changed. I know. Anyway, just one time we had a policy from >> We did that for a handful. The last time >> we complained. >> I think it's always important to do what what you just did and look at what our curve policy is and see when's the
last time we modified that and if there was any local language put on that. Just >> that's a good practice to keep looking at that. >> Good job. All right. Well, thank you. All right. 5410. Everybody is there at the same place with me? >> Yes. >> That is promotion, placement, and retention. >> Yeah. >> Uh >> well, I'm not I I have in my notes someone at this meeting called it a sandwich with no meat in it. I might not say that in the bottom we removed a significant port because it was redundant to another policy better than my >> already in 54. >> Okay. All right. >> Move on. Moving on. >> All right. Now we are at 6109. This is a new policy and Mrs. Johnson's going to talk about this. >>
So, this is really just spells out some data compliance pieces that reflect um just our state guidance and how we would handle processing of those. So, important to know that we um we do not pass along the fees to our parents and um in this policy the fees are designated as a proper public purpose. So the district, we do not pass along the the service fees to our families. The district pays for those. And so there are a number of places in in Boraly where you designate things as a proper public purpose refreshments at staff meeting like just nominal pieces. And so this is where we would designate that the district believes it is important to cover those fees. >> So that's what this policy would. >> Right. Thank you. 6152 is student fees, fines,
and charges. And this is just verbiage, correct? >> It's now called due instead of the Department of Education. >> Yes. >> All right. Um 6830 is a policy. You want to redo this for me? It's about audit and it really comes down to the treasures contract. So, and at the expiration of of treasurer contracts when there's transition from treasurers, there is a new law that requires some significant documentation and financial leadership is turning over from one to the other. And this spells out that um the board shall require that the treasur produce all money, bonds or other securities and then uh we count it all which seems bizarre but um that's what we'll do I guess when it's time to transition >> specific situation >> perhaps several out in the >> larger world not here
>> somewhere that's happened in Ohio and I mean there is a stop it for all. >> There is a certificate document now it's quite lengthy that then also has to be signed off by the superintendent and the board president. And really this is just about making sure that that the a new an incoming treasurer has access to all of the things that they need especially as it relates to banking investments cashing. >> True. >> Right. Okay. I mean it's a it's a >> Okay. Now we're at um 7540.02 and this is digital content and accessibility. Um want to talk about that you went absolutely. Um so around the the accessibility measures we are compliant with all of these things already. When we did the last um website update, uh we put a lot of time
and effort into make sure making sure that we are fully accessible and compliant to the can't remember the given name right now of the web content. >> Is it cool or something? >> I don't remember but we are compliant. Um so um that's all reflected in the policy. Um there's some uh issues around how we recognize students um publicly and um if they are um kindergarten through 8th grade it would be first name uh and first initial with the last name. We would not be using full names but in high school we would start using full names. >> Um talks a little bit about uh third party content for how we um teacher use of personal websites is not something uh that they that we should be in the practice of doing some things like
that. >> Right. We've already kind of got that locked up. Were you talking about the web contract content accessibility guidelines? >> Yes. >> So, so as not to put our children in any kind of harm. So these teacher Tik Tok videos you see when our teachers make these classroom videos >> that's our teachers. >> No teachers are teachers >> but they're not all going to show students either that's in a classroom but is that what you're talking about? >> So that kind of social media that might be a little bit more specific to social media uses. We do not currently have a social media policy. Um, Mola has been developing one but then advising no one to take it. So like we are we are kind of in the wild west a little bit around
social media. There are definitely best practices. Um, and they would include not featuring students on on, you know, teachers not featuring students in their personal Tik Toks, >> not producing them during school hours, you know, things like that. But those aren't necessarily uh in this. >> This is our website. >> Yeah. >> Accessibility to the website comp. >> Yes. Exact. Yeah. so that you don't have um dark font on top of a dark background, you know, those things. So that like yeah, a lot of that accessibility is around those. >> But your point is good and social media. >> Obviously, we don't have a direction. Well, I was just thinking about because it said something in there about uploading videos or whatever and it I think that more just got me thinking about, you know,
teachers like to do fun lessons on a say a Tik Tok or something and >> you know, not that you would put that on the website, but >> there was a in there about they can't do >> these kind of things on their I don't know. It just makes me think I wonder what our policy. >> So I know some some things are you don't I think best practice would not include putting um curriculum or the the the pieces instructional materials that students would need to access only making those available to someone on your personal TikTok or things like that like they need to be accessible to all students through like uh district approved tools. >> Yeah. Um >> I think getting to that question though we we don't have policies around it. How do
we like what is inbound out of bounds for teachers or administrators relative to social media but also pay sites kind of on social? I don't know what you know there's a lot of things I read about issues that created >> what our practice has been and what we just deal with our monthly day um and we kind of partnered a little bit with with um WA and OEA on this. there there are some um best practice materials that are that are put out >> um and so we did um distribute those in our last PD day just as a kind of a reminder it was also with some things around you know it's election time this is what you want to be doing this is what you want to know that you don't want to
be doing and so we did that was part of our PD P day um to do that so it's it's currently not based on policy what we're doing there it's kind of more based on best practices. >> All right. 830 Z continuity of organizational operations plan which is called O um have a plan and and tie it into every other plan you have in your building. It's that a good summary for it's for cyber security. a cyber security and then we skip 7541 electronic data processing >> and then part of our emergency management >> that's a goner >> okay >> and so now we have a plan that can stay um 8305 information security um this is how we guard our data but also especially especially the data that has to do with our children.
Um, a lot of this is connected to public school works which I don't use on a regular basis. So, would someone like to jump in on this? >> It's just a >> I think you're right. It just outlines the responsibility to protect that information >> and it's built into our cyber security. >> All right. Um, 40 is on school safety. This is um the putting together an emergency management plan. Um it I think the only changes here are um I think they've added suicide and crisis materials >> the 98 in and then in the verbage I mean it's not chang that and in an emergency if students can't utilize personal communication devices if it doesn't jeopardize the safety of the of the overall >> right because you're like well if there's an emergency how are
you getting to your office locker, >> right? Not going out in the hallway. >> It's in there, but I'm like, "All right, this actually is." >> All right, >> 8462 is a revised policy. Um, has some modifications to it. Um, this has Oh, this is student abuse and neglect. And, um, basically, can I say verbiage? Would you say that's just really all it is? calling the department of education due instead of um department of education. I don't believe there's any change in the thinking. Um and then the next one or the the last one is um or 9270 is the equivalent education outside the schools and participation in extracurriculars for students not enrolled in the district. That's a mouthful. Um, and this this has to do with um this this oh this goes with the
homesooled kids involved in extra uh curricular activities within your your district. Okay. No, wait a minute. All right. I think I've done it. Although I've ended up with a transportation for non-rine trips. We decided to get rid of that. I also have that >> chair that should been okay last modifi Yeah, we'll check on this one. >> Transportation for non-rine trips, just so you all know since it'll be in the 30-day pile for you to look at if you want to. Um, it allows eating on a bus under some circumstances. because I guess there are parts of Ohio that have very specific. >> Yeah. All right. That's the fun and games of uh policies for the fall. >> Okay. Well done. >> So, um if you would may I have a motion to approve the
board of education report realizing that these policies sit for 30 days for people to take a look at and possibly change. So move. Second. I'll second. And then roll call, please. >> Mrs. Brick, >> yes. >> Mr. Ber, >> yes. >> Mr. Thomas, yes. >> Mrs. G, >> yes. >> Mrs. Yes. >> Treasures report. >> Item A, approval of the minutes from the September 22nd regular meeting and the October 7th special meeting. Item B, approve the statement of revenues and expenditure from month ending September 30th. Item C, accept with appreciation the donation from PSA was provided to Dr. school breakfast for staff on the first PD day. Item D, appropriation adjustments. I do want to call your attention that I made an error in the September appropriation. Um the um carryover encumbrances were double counted.
So I backed those out on that on on the um on the 10% investment. So hear that. So that is corrected. And item E is approval of the report, please. I have a motion to approve. So move. >> Second. Roll call. >> Yes. >> Mr. Thomas. >> Yes. >> Mrs. James. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Yes. Mr. Pro. >> Yes. Thank you. Superintendent report. >> Okay. I have 11 personnel recommendations. Number one is for new personnel. Lisa Farah and Angela Connelly. Both middle school. educational aid in Angela recess a excited about those new additions. Number two is for auditorium workers and it will support the auditorium on a an hourly basis as needed. Number three is recommendation to approve this unpaid leave. You can see that's for one day for a staff member. Number four is
for resident educator mentor stipens. And so these are for staff members who are supporting newer teachers. Uh number five, resident educator training. That's for those two staff members to be trained to support mentor those new teachers. Number six is um recommendation to approve linked up connect stipen for two uh individuals and they call them career connectors. Um and this was um new in the last couple years and this is support for students that that really connect students with real life work-based learning opportunities. Those might be internships, that might be job shadowing, it might be community service. Um, all trying to connect to student interests and thinking about career related opportunities um after high school. Number seven is connected to athletic supplemental contracts and volunteers. So you can see these are a lot of the winter
winter activities coming up and thanks to all of those individuals for supporting students in in the various ways that they are connecting with them. Number eight is a flex supplemental contract. This is for Dungeons and Dragons. A flex supplemental contract allows schools to add on opportunities for students that do not have a typical supplemental process. Number nine is for middle school detention monitor. Number 10 is for middle school dance uh work for two events fall on event. Um number 11 is for Miami University mentor strengthens. And so these stipens are for teachers who are supporting student teachers and those stipens come from the university and then paid to those teachers for supporting their student teachers. Thank you. May I have a motion to approve? >> Second. And now may I have a roll call? John.
Second. >> Mr. Thomas. >> Mr. Jean. >> Yes. >> Mr. Ber. >> Yes. Mr. Burgerer. >> Yes. Mr. Ber. >> Yes. >> All right. Thank you. And your update. >> It's it's amazing to think that we are at the end of the first quarter. It has flown by. First quarter is is done. Um report cards have gone out and our students are are excelling in the classroom which is very exciting. Outside of the classroom, you see a lot of these supplementals. It's it's about this time where we start to see competition for our students in athletics. The football playoffs begin on Friday, our first uh first game that is on Halloween night. So, it is a 7 o'clock start time for football team. >> Um, right in the middle of Halloween trick or treat. So,
just putting it out there. >> It is home. Yes, that is here. >> Archer B. >> Uh, yes. Yes, that's correct. Boy soccer team won in overtime recently, so that was exciting. I think it was on Wednesday. >> Yes. Wednesday evening. >> Location. Yeah, but Matt said it could be adjusted still. >> Okay. Okay. And then we did have three state qualifiers from the girls cross country team. >> Great. So competing. >> Um, you know, in the arts we have, you know, the first just the last several weeks, we've gotten through our first round of our concert, which is very exciting. And we have a play coming up with the high school, Three Musketeers, and I believe the dates are November 7th and 8th for that. So that is something to look for. So exciting
time and it really is baffling that we're a quarter of the way through the school year. >> Exciting. >> I I have a confused person question. >> Yes. >> I I know we've been naming our national merit scholars recently. What's the difference between a mended and whatever the other one was. >> Happy to take that. >> Sure. >> So, yeah. So, um so a national merit like to to uh attain that status, national merit scholars are um uh they perform on the PSAT, you know, at the at the it's less than 1% of all students across the nation. Um then commended is like I think it's I can't remember exactly but it might be within the 3% you know top performers >> um but they don't reach that uh that uh >> yeah to get
to >> the semi finalist >> the semi semi finalists um and in Wyoming usually to go from a semi- finalist to a finalist there are a couple extra things that you need to do and need to do outside of school but as a rule in Wyoming, those students who um reach this that is already doing those things. So, but there there is maybe an extra that they have to do and things like that. But um the commended, if I'm saying this correctly, I believe that the commended um are kind of state based too. Like so they get a certain percentage of the highest performers per state >> um for the commended whereas the national merit is kind of a a countrywide designation for the the highest performers. >> Great. All right. Thank you. Well, I
see their names in their pictures and Yes. Very good job. >> Thank you. I guess if we're done, may I have a motion to adjourn? >> So move. >> Second. >> Mrs. Sh. Yes. >> Mrs. Ber. >> Yes. Mr. Mer. Yes. Mr. Thomas. >> Thank you.
