Families are welcome to stand for the regular board You can also be excused if you like. All right. Next on our agenda is our AHS student representative. >> All right. So at the high school uh tomorrow we have our academic assembly to honor 3.5.0 GPA with a new award called the elevate award honoring students who increased their semester GPA by.5 or more. Um we have our winter ball dance that will be on Saturday February 21st at master small gym.
The theme is Alice and Wonderland and Young Life will be offering pre-waffle feed after the dance. Um basketball yesterday both boys and girls teams won against Malala. The boys went to mall and the girls had the game here. Um, swim recently went to Tilmook and they placed second just by a few as they were underdogs. And the swim district meet is this Friday and Saturday at uh the story aquatic center. Um, Schnitzer Care put on a pure factor assembly to raise money uh for their cause which I believe this year was homelessness. Um, Mr. Mr. Jackson, Mr. Parks, and Mr. Roi participated in eating foods and doing challenges at the same time. Um, and we have a jazz band participated in the district jazz band festival at Class High School today. And uh, B Smith
Rustler is currently 30 and4 with his recent 100th win that we've celebrated. >> Wow. and our spring sports start arch second. >> Thank you, Quinn. >> Item four, our consent agenda. >> I'll move to approve the consent agenda. >> I'll second. >> All those in favor? >> Anybody opposed? >> Move to item five. We'll start with administrative reports. I have to win the award for a cute child sometime and ironically Isa is sick and I want to talk about attendance because who just has so many out it's rough and that breaks about his numbers were wrong they're probably right we have just lots of kids out um and uh our kids are making trips to the library because it's new and so they're one class at a time and they're working to get our kids
library cards and so they're visiting and are getting their library cards. That's one thing we're doing. Um, our second grade scores are looking good. I'm feeling good about the winter scores um in STAR and in Dibbles. Our kindergarten scores didn't turn out. Um, it's almost like the test doesn't align with where they are in their curriculum. So they they start withina and they still do more more work there, but their um their letter sounds they're not they haven't been taught all their letter sounds and letter names come after that. So some of it just it just seems to be I think this is one of my first basketball game. So it's just it's just in line with what we were doing. >> So we recognize Awesome. I think >> this is Orion and he has
second grade. >> Congratulations Good job. Thank you. >> It's free advertising. >> Yeah, I know. It's great. >> Thanks for hosting our fourth graders for swimming. That's second lesson um today. So, that's been going well and the kids love it. So, some kids have never been in a swimming pool before and they're really enjoying it. So thank you. Um we had Nate National Assessment of Educational Progress um come to Louis Clark on February 3rd and test it was approximately I think it was about 45th graders that were assessed on their knowledge and that goes to the nation's report card. So that happened. We are working um to get all of our pieces together so that students, fifth graders can go to outdoor school starting on March 10th. And so that's a big organizational, you know,
feat and um it's going well. Um we are in the midst of the readathon right now. We're on day three. We are doing really well. It's crazy. And I'm so grateful for all the parents out there who have, you know, just publicized the readathon. Students are reading and got some great uh large amounts of minutes that are coming in. So, we're really grateful for that. And uh when with our reading assessments that we just had um recently, sort of like what Kate was talking about, what we've noticed across the board is that we're scoring really high in accuracy. students um are are getting that down and which is great because accuracy does come before fluency and comprehension. Our um fluency and comprehension ranks are not quite where we would like them to be and so
we're focusing on uh specific interventions and double dosing interventions from the classroom um and title one for fluency right now in all the classes. Thank you. So much like this reference, sickness has uh taken a pretty big toll at Middle School, not just with our kids, but our staff. I will say we are pulling together, helping, covering. Um we we are at times struggling to find sauce, but not nearly like before. So I would say that's one of the biggest challenges that we're dealing with right now is just getting everybody healthy, washing hands. our custodians did a thorough thorough cleaning on their work days. So, we're hoping to see that improve. Um, one of the things that we are working towards obviously with attendance is increasing some engagement activities, mixing things up a bit, trying
some new strategies. Uh, last week we did the rock paper scissor challenge. I don't believe you heard about that, but um a sixth grader took the championship for the whole school. Um they used the Viking awards to buy beads and they would the kids with the most beads and the band championship. Um it was lots of fun. This week is a spirit week. Um kids are uh buying maloggrams where administration might be doing singing telegrams for delivery just to try to get some of that engagement. We find when we have those activities we get more kids coming. And so that's one of our attendance plan goals. Um doing a pretty big push this month for that. Uh reviewed it last month, I believe, with Mr. Hoffus as far as what specific strategies we were going
to try. Um we're also seeing some gains in our scores, but we do have um some areas to work on. our kids um their comprehension strategies uh we need to really target their the background knowledge building vocabulary those kinds of things but we're going in the right direction and basketball and wrestling are going great we had our first wrestling meet last week we came home I think they said 29 wins and um 17 losses when uh about I don't know a third of your team is brand new it's a pretty good Just briefly, I want to take a moment to say that our our cell phone policy continues to hold state at the level of success that we are experiencing. So, I'm very pleased with that. Later on this evening, you'll have a report from
Miss Sparks regarding the primary indicators. One of those is not complete because we're still waiting for the ninth grade on track rate. Presently we are sitting at 85% with 129 of 151 students who are on track to graduate after their first semester. But with additional 13 that upon completion of freshman amnesty which we started last week they will earn their credits successfully to be on track meaning 142 of 151 which would put us around 95% on track to graduate so far this academic year. The challenges that we are facing continue to be attendance, especially with some of these freshmen that were trying to keep progressing forward. A lot of it has been illness driven. We saw actually a spike in attendance during violence week because kids were forcing themselves to come there even when not
well and saw significant decline last week as that illness continues to spread. I do want to when addressing challenges I want to express our appreciation Astro High School for the board's participation in pancake feed there are particular individuals out there a little bit but thank you very much for your support on that it does really start the day with a good vi to those rather stressful exams and uh fear factor. Just a quick moment on that, eating 50 to 60 crickets was the easiest step of that process, but we raised the money for the home. So, >> what was the hardest? the cocktail, which what that consisted of was a shot of soy sauce, a shot of apple vinegar, mayonnaise mustard, a can of Sprite, and then additional crickets. I saw a sign at unfortunately
I couldn't wait. Well, I stopped by the time's classroom and asked her what she has planned for this week and there um you know we're going to have a friendship celebration at the end of the week and her room is very pink purple. She's very prepared for it. She said tomorrow is day. I don't know doing a spirit thing or just I think are pretty excited about that. And then um I also oh the other thing that she said is they've been um they set up a mailbox in their room or outside their room and they've been writing different staff members notes in the living room that they do and so some writing's happening. She showed me some fine motor artwork that they've been working on really motor skills that her students have. So, lots
of good stuff happening in prek. I also talked to Jane Austin had asked her and she said they are doing random acts of kindness. I don't want to spoil anything, but she said that they're going to be potentially some banners for just for the office staff that might include principal Gore and um and also the kitchen staff just to show appreciation for them. They are also have enough to send out notes to peers in um other classrooms and staff across the building and um they're looking forward to a friendship celebration also on Friday. And one of the challenges that um has we've kind of experienced this past couple weeks is just because of how IEPs fall, I think it has a lot to do with consent meetings and then the followup um for re-evaluations. We've
had the past two weeks three days of schedu because there's so many this time of year and this is the second year we've been doing it and I think that we're kind of forced to start spreading them out a little bit and I think that the next year it'll be better and more spread out and balanced but um it's been a busy week for >> you have a couple of flyers for me. Um, one of them is last year we were one of the programs of literacy state development for four years and at that um we're going to partner with Kamar Hospital and HQ the Northwest regional early learning grant that's the books from birth plan because the grant is supporting literacy from birth through grade 12 and so as part of that we are
going to the anybody that gives at Columbia Hospital gets a box with five new books in a little onesie and a flyer that explains how to support that they're safely in the very beginning. All the books are by little books, so they're in English and Spanish. And then the district is going to include the little welcome little ones. This is my draft. Um we'll be also including this letter in the box from the district explaining how we're initiative as well. And then they also get a second box of five books at their first full baby checkup for a total of 10 books to kind of start them on their way. So we're super excited about that. >> Recruit the other one is around Dr. Shaki. He's the presenter at our March 9th district service. So
as part of focus area, one of our strategic plans has been the culturally responsive teaching and it's kind of been sitting there as a strategy for a little bit and we've done some work around this constructing meaning training as culturally responsive teaching. Um and then this looking at making them more focused to rattle um culture in your classroom. How do you recognize what is a cultural behavior versus a different other type of behavior? And then giving the teachers some strategies around classroom management in relation to culture. And then we've also uh kind of like reserved a little spot in August to continue doing the work with Dr. Holly around culturally responsive teaching in the district. So he's very well known for his work around culturally responsiveness and I'm super excited that he's going to be
here. So >> our participation remains about 1,290 meals a day um even with the the six students. So that's good. Um I'm continuing to work on our USDA allotment for next year. Um right now I'm finishing up a cost analysis with our commercial vendor um versus the USDA foods that we can get. Um, and then figuring out how much I want to put towards our fresh fruit and vegetable program. Um, and then part of as part of our review in April, um, we're supposed to be doing a trienal assessment on our our district wellness um, policy. So, I'm just finishing up um, it's called a wellad. It's a wellness school assessment tool. And that goes through like everything from like um nutrition to physical activity to physical education and staff wellness. Um and what it
does is you kind of do this scorecard against our current policy and it tells you if you meet all the federal requirements, kind of gives you a score. Um so I'm just finished that up. So the next step will be um to put together a wellness committee of um parents, students, PE teachers, school nurses, um administrators, school board members um and just kind of look at uh what the model policy is, what our policy is, and try and kind of align them. Um, and then in the future we can use the same tool to see um to check our progress if we're meeting the policy um and if it's staying the same. >> My jeans are stuck. And they were uh so this last month we've been kind of really focusing on safety. Um mainly
because uh we changed the lights to high school one and like made it daylight over there. We made it daylight over here. So we kind of triggered into um let's take a look at you know some areas around buildings where we have a lot of trip hazards or places that are darker. Um we're getting a big list together. Um so during the spring and summer we can start updating stuff. There are some things that we're going to start doing now um as precautions painting curves and things like that. Um, we are also getting ready to do some pretty significant masonry repair at the high school and the middle school. I'm still working on scheduling. Trying to do it over spring break, especially at the high school because it's going to be loud. Um, it's the
main ter facade in Aster and it's the connector hallway between the locker room and the classroom at the high school. Um, we're already starting to schedule some projects and all the vendor, not the vendor, all the people that come in and do stuff for us, the fire extinguisher folks, the Oh my gosh, the water guys, you know, all those people. Um, and then this week we worked on painting Aster for Park to kind of get a kitchen and stuff set up down there and I'll paint the floors on Sunday. All right, we'll move on to item D. Budget guy. Are you done with that or >> I don't know if anybody had any questions on it? >> No. Okay. Well, then we'll move on to item C, our strategic plan, primary and secondary indicators. >>
Yeah. So, as part of our strategic plan, tonight was the night that we do report back to the board on uh our primary indicators and then this is the first time we've reported out on our new secondary indicators. This step was going to do that. >> So, we have primary indicators for each focus area. A lot of these are ones we also report to the state. So for focus area one which is instructional development um one of our 80% of third graders not predicted by identity or geography will be on watch or on benchmark as shown by the star reading. Um so this is just winter um further grade we're at 75% already which I think is very exciting. Last year we ended to 81% so I think we are on track. We're also seeing
growth um in some areas um some of our demographic areas and some decline. So we have some work to do but we're also starting some high tuning and other strategies that are going to work on this focus area. Um next one is still focus area one. This is on ice on track which um since we already talked about high school about how we're waiting for the freshman for those ones. Um, next one is around high school graduation which um last year's graduation rates stellar I would say 92.6%. We're also seeing a lot of growth in our different demographic areas as well than 95%. So um even spent um numbers are up from 69% to 80%. So that's looking a little bit nice work to the high school on that one. And then for focus area
two on the workforce our main educator is on 85% of staff will be retained each year. And then focus area three is around relationship building and this one was around um chronic absenteeism. So the number there is the number of students who are not chronically absent each year and then this is um through January. So we are looking better than last year. and that that's just through January this year. So we are seeing some growth in attendance. And then our secondary indicators are ones that are kind of more specific to different buildings. Um going back to area one around instruction for Aster, one of the indicators is around kindergarten letter names and sounds. And as Kate spoke to, um the assessment that we give, the dual assessment doesn't quite align with the sequence C. So
you're seeing 47% in winter, but they also have a level of skills hit for the assessment that we're giving them. So I think we'll see an increase in that um in the spring. Um the other one for Siri one is second and fifth graders um in oral reading fluency. No, I'm sorry, oral reading accuracy. So how many words are they reading correctly? Um so second grade um currently at the winter benchmark 63% fifth grade we were at 86%. So um as a was talking about we have some strategies of working around actually second grade was amazing um for Aster we do have some strategies around hydro ting I think we're working on to build accuracy for our second graders and then um the third one is around eighth grade algebra ready as shown by the
star math adjustment and we're looking at 73% so I think we can track for that and then focus area two secondary indicators around workforce. Um ASD will maintain five staff staff members in the teacher program. This year we're currently at three. Um 85% of ASD will be retained for more than five years. We're looking at around 56% um this year. And then I'll try to explain this one. District of educators employees will represent the ethnic demographics of students within 5% by 2030. And so we are within 5% for all the demographics except for Hispanic and white or greater than 5% the difference between them. So those are two areas that we need to work on. Basically we have more like we have eight. So there's a discrepancy between those two numbers. And then focus area
three around relationship building. Um this one used to say 80% and I changed to maintain at least a score of 80 or based on the seed survey because the seed survey is not a percentage. And so the descriptions at the bottom there's a possible range of zero to 100. The lower score means a lower level and then the higher score means we're we're reaching that higher levels. And the goal stands at a score of 80 or above. So based on last year's C survey, our sense of belonging is about 70, but it varies by demographic. And then um the last one focuses area three for relationship building. Um 80% of ASD elementary families will attend at least one school event. And I made a note at the bottom that for elementary it's based on parent
teacher conference attendance and also like attendance like literacy nights and things like that. So looking good there. And then 90% of secondary students will participate in at least one co-curricular or extracurricular activity. I didn't have numbers for last year but for this year um based on attendance um in sports, music, theater, that's like an average between middle and high school. It didn't include students who are involved in clubs. So I didn't have all of those numbers, but that's we're at sitting at about 64% kind of. So, anybody have any questions about any of those? >> So, a couple things. Um, these just got completed towards the end of last week. I shared them with administrator, but we haven't had a chance to sit down and talk. And in addition to that, um I'm in the
process and haven't got very far of going through the strategic plan and looking at u I'll have Stephanie and others help me how much we're actually working on those areas and how much in depth are we into those areas sort of like evaluating our fidelity within our strategic plan. So, we're working on that along with this secondary care. But I I'll have some time in the next month with administrators to be able to review this information. >> All right, we'll move on to the next item, the finance report. We had a visit statewide business manager meeting today with the Oregon Department of Ed and um what came out of that was of course there's no new information since the legislation just began as far as what's going to happen with our budget this year and
potentially next year. They mentioned that the short session has to end no later than March 8th. And if there is some sort of directive, then it would take OD a little bit to calculate that, you know, what the impacts were. Um, one thing we did hear is that from the federal team is that it, um, they do have a budget now for next year's title fundings and they said it was flat funding, which is good to hear. And, um, I guess that was pretty much it from that meeting today. And the other thing I wanted to mention is next month I'm going to need to come to you with a supplemental budget because um I underbudget budgeted our federal special revenue funds. Um the grant that Stephanie was talking about the comprehensive literacy was 300,000
for this year and then did end up with 100,000 more in title funds this year that we weren't expecting. So, just to give you a heads up, it's a good thing, but I need a little more spending authority for the finish up the rest of questions on the finance. Okay, >> item E is our report. >> Um, so we're up four students from the previous month and we're actually up four students from the start of the school year. And if I look at previous years, that that's always been the case. So hopefully that's holding steady. I actually signed four critical enrollments today for the same family. Yeah. So that was good. Unique to see. And I think they're starting Monday. Move on to item six, patron comments questions. I think Candy sign my name is
Kathy Gordon. Um, I live at 36 Southwest Fifth Street in Warrington, Oregon. And I've worked in this little district for I don't know 39 years or so. So, um, I just want to I know that this is early and, um, I just want to kind of implant this in your brain. Um, I received um, email from Mr. Hoffus about the academic calendar and I kind of want to address um, a couple things from the classified standpoint. Um I know that our calendar has to center around um certified with um teacher work days and that kind of thing which I totally respect but um one of the things that they're talking about is to have an extra two days off at Thanksgiving week um due to um people not being there staff and students um with
those two days. I don't think we can guarantee that they will be there Thursday and Friday and the week before that. Um and that really shortens um our paychecks. We only get paid for the days that we work. So um um that's like between the three days conference days um that leaves the October, November check short. Um and then the Thanksgiving check um is uh with those days off those days were off um that leaves it short. We have um eight days uh in April that we uh are not paid for because of um spring break and um the three conference days. During winter break, we have um like eight unpaid days because of um a winter break, which I get, but then in January there's also a work day. um we kind of end
up with one, two, three, four, five, like six months that we are not paid fully because of all the work that the days that are off makes it kind of hard to make ends meet. Um and we understand all of that. We get it. But um to take two more days away, ouch, that hurts. So um I know it's early. I just wanted to kind of put that in your brain um as you go through and um take a look at um the calendar. Um and that's most of our 10 month employees. So uh I have one more thing. We have two more things. Um I didn't have this until I listened to uh Virgil the virtual presentation. Um, I'm extremely curious to see what virtual sped looks like. Um, and I agree with you,
the workload on board administrators could be intense, but um, I've been working instead for 39 years and um, I'm just really interested what that looks like virtually. I know we have some virtual SLPs working now. We have virtual OT's. I'm not going to make comments on that, but I will say that um I really would like to see that from something that's already working with whoever if they've been there for a year. I just um I just would like to see that. I think it's interesting. I'd also like to say that OCA um is are they're down at the state level and our our state people from OCA and Salem um are visiting with the legislators on a daily basis to help um move this along and hopefully with good outcome. The last thing I
have is um whoever drives that blue ramp truck in my parking spot. >> Sorry about that. Thanksy. Item seven is information and item eight unfinished business. Action item policy team work. I move to approve policy GB work. >> All those in favor. Any oppos the 2027 budget calendar. So, um I know last year we changed the date some and so I just wanted to see if you see any complex Um, if you want to move things up or you happy with this >> make a motion to approve the 2027. All >> those in favor? Item B, the 2026 2027 NWRSD local service plan. >> So I have a short presentation on that um that we'll start. So go ahead and go to the first the next slide. So our the service district just represents four
different counties. the previous slide. You can go back up to Columbia County and Washington County and um so the different districts in there um so it's unique in that it's very uh some big districts like Peterson, Hillsboro, but some very rural ones like Jewel uh Naka and those types. So um I I'll talk a little bit briefly about the services that the provides. We go to the next slide. Those are the board members. Next slide. Um, and that is an actual example of that story. It's Karen's Chapman at the high school and the success that the high school has had with uh freshman on track and EST has a program that has provides support with that where we get services for. So, next one. So, this just talks about the different the number of um
staff members or students impacted by some of the programs, the programs they refer to on the far right. Um we use all those. Not sure what we do for attendance. I'm going to find out. Um but I haven't reached out for them. But we do have did have 114, I should say, fifth graders and um attend outdoor school last year. We have um about that many going out next month also. Um we have 48 students um were served through EI um prior to coming to kindergarten and 21 students enrolled in the minor summer school program along with a lot of other kids. Um and then they have 12 special ed staff support the district and specialty areas that the provides. Next slide. So a local service plan and um there's three parts of it. the
core services and those are shared and available to all component districts and um superintendents meet in November and set those core services come to an agreement between all those districts that were shown and then we also have a menu of services which we'll get here in a second as well as the provides integrated guidance um technical assistance for the uh student success act. So next slide. So the role of the board is each year the educational uh service district local service plan must be adopted by the board uh of the ESD as well as approved honor before March 1st by the resolution of twothirds of the component school districts that have at least a majority of the pupils. So um this presentation and resolution is being brought to all boards within the ESD this month
or uh before March 1st to be approved and they have to have twothirds of it approval. So next slide. So a little bit different. This is how the funding model works for the ESD is um they get a state school fund a lotment and they get 4.5% of all the state school fund a lotment goes to the ESDs throughout the whole state. Um 10% of those funds go to the ESD for operation um like the superintendent or HR bed directors those type of people and then 90% of that are directed by school districts. So 75% of it um goes to and into our accounts for ADMW based on how many kids we have, we can spend and then 25% um go into the core services which we'll talk a little about what those are in
a little bit. So, um core services, uh include um they're required by law and as well as goals to assist the the school districts in meeting the requirements of the state and federal law, improve student learning, enhance the quality of instruction, enable our districts and uh component districts and students to attend schools in those districts to have equitable access to resources. So like larger districts like Hillsboro, Forest Grove, Sherwood, um because they have so many kids, they have more access, but in our rural districts, we don't. I mentioned earlier like um physical therapist for that. We need a physical therapist. I don't need a full-time and nor could I afford a full-time. Uh but the EST is there to provide like a partial maybe a 10 or 0.15. So >> three.3 Yeah. So, and then
just to provide efficiencies and um core services, we'll get this in a in a minute, but the technology we get from ASD um we would pay four or five times more than if we did it ourselves, but because you share it with other districts, uh it becomes cheap. So, skip that one. I don't know why that one's out of place. So, this one is the uh core services. It says on the right, these are all the services that are provided to the districts that we can choose to use or not use and it doesn't cost us any extra money that what we what the uh core services cost. The big one is on technology about the sixth one down around network services. That's a big one for us. Although recently in the far right call
under educational programs, we've been really pleased with early literacy and they're doing they have staff that come down to our elementary schools and do walkthroughs with staff. It's been very very good as well as the ninth grade success network that they've been using. Um so those are some of the services that we get out of core. We choose to use those menu services. The next one is are available for districts to purchase as needed uh using service credits. So the next three or four pages describes a different uh menu items that we could purchase from them. And a lot of times um we haven't we purchase them, but a lot of times we have to pay out the general fund. Um but because we've uh hired our own speech language pathologist um it's freed up
some money in um in some of these menu or uh menu items. We do use like the civil rights and title N coordination. So if we ever have a title N complaint um we do some of the ground work but then they step step up and do the investigations and we pay for that. Do you want to talk about some other areas of the menu items? We use our credits for to purchase um EI and ECSE evaluators. Um we also have a point45 of an autism spectum disorder consultant. We have a 0.9 of occupational therapist, a.3 PT physical therapist, and then we have a full-time school psychologist. Um and then technology wise, we also um our public school works, which which is our trainings that all of our employees have to have every year. Um
we go through them and all of our um background checks. It goes through Chris, I'm not sure what that stands for along with our financial software we purchase and as some synergy um extras that we purchase. Those are the things that we use our service credits for. Um and then just a few other things that they do that are not associated directly with the local service plan, but um they do provide grant funded and value added services through federal, state, and private grants. And on the the um keep going there, there's some highlighted areas. Um next one, next one. Those are some of the grants that they uh do um that are highlighted that we actually are able to um participate in. Um we're down a couple um in our grow your own program, our
teach story, because um we were funding some of that through the REN, which is this regional educator network, and then the last minute last spring um they cut that the state cut that part of the funding from the REN. So, we weren't able to add two, but we hope to uh going forward. Um, so that's just some of the programs they offer up and above and beyond what they offer for the local service plan. So, and that's it. There is a motion if you want to approve it. If you don't, you can change the motion. I move to approve the 2826 27 local service plan as well second all in >> favor. All right. >> Item C is a license and administrative contract recommendations. >> Yes. Required by I think it's March 15th that final
uh contract certified administrator to be approved right moving forward. I move to approve license and administrative contract recommendations OS 342.513. >> We'll second. >> All those in favor? They >> opposed. All right. Move item E the classified employee week. Sorry D the national week proclamation which will be presented by our board member. So we have just we have two members from our local school or FFA members that would like to get up and introduce us and talk very briefly and then we'll be talking and they'll introduce themselves first. I'm currently a freshman at Atoria High School and this year I am assistant treasurer for the Atoria FFA chapter. I have been a part of the FFA for two years and I've learned so much. I have I have learned skills from how to make new
friends to stepping out of my comfort zone to help someone else. As this is only my beginning years in the program, I look forward to continuing my education and growing within the agricultural community. Hi everyone, I'm Katie Davidson, a sophomore in story high school and currently serving as the story of chapters treasure. Um, I've been in FFA since the seventh grade and for me that's a very long time. That's five years of my life. Five years of my life have been changed by the FA in the best way possible. Um, it has taught me to help others when no one else will, to stand up for what I believe even when it's hard, and to be confident standing in front of many people and talking for long periods of time much like this. Um, I've
become the best version of myself through this program and by gaining leadership and in my confidence. Um, and with that, you're not the only members in this chapter. The story is proud to be thriving program serving 428 dedicated student members making it the fourth largest FFA chapter in Oracle. Our chapter provides students with hands-on learning opportunities in agriculture, natural resources, leadership, and career development. Um, helping them build the real world skills that extend far beyond any classroom could ever try and teach. >> Thank you, Heidi. In 2025, the Atoria FFA earned the three-star national chapter award, the highest level of recognition awarded by the National Atheism Organization. This prestigious honor reflects excellent in student leadership, community engagement, and chapter development that and that places FFA among the top chapters of the mission. Throughout the year,
our members participate in career development events, leadership conferences, community service projects, and supervised agricultural experience that connect learning to real careers and local needs. As story FFA students are not only preparing for careers in agricultural and natural resources, they are becoming confident leaders, problem solvers, and engaged citizens. Thank you. During national epic week, we celebrate the impact FFA has on our students, our school and our community. And we thank the school board for it for its continued support of agriculture education and student leadership opportunities for at high school. Thank you so much. Thank you. >> Thank you. Don't go. Whereas FFA and agricultural education provide a strong foundation for the youth of America and the future of food, fiber, and natural resource systems. And whereas FFA promotes premier leadership, personal growth, and career success among
its members. And whereas agricultural education and FFA ensure a steady supply of young professionals to meet the growing needs in the science, business and technology of agriculture. And whereas the FFA motto, learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, and living to serve gives uh direction and purpose to these students who take an active role in succeeding in agricultural education. And whereas FFA promotes citizenship, volunteerism, patriotism, and cooperation. Therefore, I do hereby designate the week of February 21st through 28th, 2026 as National FFA Week. >> And then I move to approve National FFA Week proclamation February 21st to 28th. All those in >> favor. >> Do we do we do you sign this? >> I don't know what's in >> I think this one you have. Am I? >> Yeah. >> Do you have
something on the back? >> No, I have >> Do we need >> Oh, that's a picture. >> Sure. >> Great. >> I was think I was thinking all of us. She works. Good job. here. Classified employee week proclamation. >> Go ahead. >> And it'll be >> all right. >> Classified employee appreciate appreciation week resolution. Uh whereas the education of youth is essential to the future of our community, state, country, and world. And whereas classified employees are the backbone of our public education system. And whereas classified employees work directly with students, educators, parents, volunteers, business partners, and community members. And whereas classified employees support the smooth operations of offices, the safety and maintenance of buildings and property, and the safety of transportation, health and nutrition, and direct instruction of students. And whereas our community depends on
the trusts uh classified employees to serve students. And whereas classified employees with their diverse talents and true dedication nurture students through their school year. Now therefore be it resolved that the Atoria school district board of directors proclaim March 2nd through the 6th of 2026 to be classified employee appreciation week. And be it further resolved that the Atoria School District board of directors strongly encourages all members of our community to join in the in this observance recognizing the dedication and hard work of these individuals adopted this 11th day February 26. And I will uh make a motion to approve classified employee week proclamation March 2nd through the 6th of 2026. >> I'll second. >> All those in favor? I think you need to take a picture. >> All right. Item 10 comments for the good of
the order that superintendent. Okay. >> Um I'm looking at my list. Let's talk a little bit about everything. That margin service should be really good. Really looking forward to it. Stepping in. Uh our instructional coaches are working very hard at it. Um I mentioned next month we'll be um I'll bring information back about the virtual charter academy, but I'll also there's an agenda item on there about the board strategic priorities moving forward. um potentially um I am I know I am for sure going to fifth grade outdoor school and so I may not be here but we'll be here online. Um they are lacking mail supervision so I have agreed to go. I don't know if I can get in. It's in Verdonia so and then it's nighttime and um so I I will see.
Um it was good to see the attendance kids here tonight. Um try to do more of that. Um and then um good to see the FFA kids and look forward to classif staff appreciation week. So that's it. Oh, also just real quick, uh I appreciate Tyler and Grace coming to the legislative meeting. That was good. Was good session. We learned a lot. That's it. And then one more. Um Stephanie and I and I haven't talked to Evie yet, but last Friday I got to watch the Battle of the Books at Louis. We might try to bring them in April and have a battle right here. >> So, >> just don't ask us to be in the battle >> because I also watch them and I can't remember authors like they can. >> I just wanted
to thank Angie for helping us out tonight. um the blue bug at our office also. Um and then I wanted to thank or just say how much I appreciate all of our classes. Glad we get to appreciate them for a week even though I appreciate them all. That's it. Quinn. >> Um, one thing that I just remembered, um, since it being the hundth year at the call, they've offered us a problem there. We've got some funding. >> Yeah. At the call, we've got lots of funding for for that to take place. So, we're just trying to make it free for all students right now. This leadership class and I don't know, spend a lot of money. Hopefully, it works out. We'll see. They've had some uh donors step up a lot of money for that.
>> That's an awesome idea. >> Oh, okay. Yeah. Uh about all the books you brought up and um I've wondered if some of our homeschool families like I don't know it's likely to um have some homeschool teens because like but it was impressive. I was I was amazed at how well they um yeah remembered the they had to know the book or what it was talking about and then they had to list all of the authors and some of those books have three authors and I think oh my gosh I don't remember all of them they it was impressive. Um, I also got to um, well, I signed up to go watch or see Sikka Art. Actually, first of all, thank Marissa for putting together the list of activities for us to um, know about
and go participate in. But, um, anyway, ended up, um, having to work too long. I couldn't go check that out. Um the FFA district competition happened and I got to be a judge for the speeches. That was pretty impressive. And the students I think they had well it's the largest group qualifying for their sectionals. So the next step before state um oh there was close to 10. I don't know exact number but a lot of them. Um and then there was the first OSET meet this last weekend and um the Atoria kids represented well. um thank the district for um inviting us to Miss Platt's uh memorial that was well attended it looked like and um and then the postcard campaign seems to have been a a success at FANOS and um able to then
email legislators and then also put in some testimony into the Ways and Means Committee when they But um and I'm excited about the virtual charter school and the options there. I think it'll be a win-win win-win hopefully. So that's um all I have. Um I had a really good time at the pancake feed and I don't care what anybody says. My pancakes were by far superior. >> Creative. most creative. The last study uh meeting and stuff went really well. Uh Lynn, Travis, Stephanie, and yourself both did a great job presenting that information. So, I appreciate you setting that up. Um and thanks for presentation from Travis. I'm looking forward to getting more information. Hopefully, that's something um that we can do. Uh I'm really disappointed that you were not the in fear factor. not chosen.
>> So, I put money in in the box for you. So, be disappointed that you did not >> I may have had to dip it in my pocket to make sure it was Yeah. And uh thank you Andy. It's all I got for today. >> Oh, everybody's already said everything. Um thank you Quinn for telling us that we need to be at the at the pancake seed because it made us all show up. Um, and thank you Marissa for making the list. I do think it's nice and it keeps me like honest. I Okay, I said I would go to this again. Um, and so yeah, I got to do things that I haven't typically like I went to a swim meet and I went to a battle of books and it's nice to see
different things what's going on different things around the district. So, I did like that. Um, yeah. Uh thank you bless my staff and um I also was um felt like that legislative session went well. Um, we had FFA members and the instructors there and um, I didn't know this until we were there and I was doing some math. Um, but based on the numbers of members, it's 25% of our student population is in FFA. um which is I mean that's a huge boost to kids wanting to come to school and being involved in something that um is going to promote their well-being and development. And so um that was um really they the two that were there were very very impressive too the two students. So, um, and Craig and Stephanne and Mr. Jackson didn't
help me, too. >> And, and we didn't have, so that was great. >> Um, I, um, I also want to say thank you to our classified staff as well, um, for all that you guys do behind the scenes and, um, working tough jobs. Um yeah uh and know that you're making a difference. So appreciate that. Um that's all I have. >> Well, I think I I go off of what everybody said and uh I love the list. I've been going to all the girls basketball games in the middle school. Can't miss me and hear me anywhere. They've been killing it. I'm going to say we got some good players and camping be was fun. Went to the art show as well. Got my art right here delivered. Um and the intermediate band that reschedled on
December and so that looks fun. Um it's nice to see all the kids artistic abilities. Some kids have some amazing talent. I'll say that. Um also I think the band started their little Mickey fundraiser stuff. So, um, any parents early season meetings against her signing up for that should be going around. So, Nikki 2027 it is. Other than that, I think that's all I got. Okay. So, future meetings are Wednesday, March 11th. Start with the board session. at 5:45 followed by the 7 o'clock regular board meeting. Moving on, try to call it executive session. So the school board of directors will now meet in executive session under authority or 192.602E to conduct deliberations of designated by the governing body to negotiate real property transactions and RS 192.662 662B to consider the dismissal or disciplining of

in executive session. >> I'll make a motion to dismiss the matter heard in executive session. >> Second. >> All those in favor? I. Anybody opposed? Okay. And that adjourns of tonight's meeting. Take a motion to take a motion to adjourn. >> I'll second. >> All right.
