001is there a party or something it was the next day thank you interpretations gracias thank you Guadalupe oh yeah now I can hear myself first on the study session we have the K-5 science curriculum adoption process um Dr Gloria would you please introduce this item yes Madam president members of the board um I do have our academics team here our chief academic officer Sheila Burke um and part of her staff here miss Leonard to present the process of the science curriculum the selection how it was selected and then um moving forward on you know having you potentially take action on this later on today so miss Burke good evening Madam president Lovato distinguished members of the board as Dr odia had shared my name is Sheila Burke and I serve as the chief academic officer

002for the school district I'm here tonight with my colleague Laura Leonard who serves as a science and social studies coordinator for the district we're here tonight to be able to share an update regarding our K-5 science adoption materials uh before we begin in front of you you're gonna find a folder with some of our materials for tonight including our revised science philosophy statements the first piece you'll find is the presentation for tonight again the revised science philosophy statements the evaluation rubric our committee used in evaluating the resources We examined and our teacher comments from the piloting process in the order which they were piloted we also have included a notepad for any questions that you may have and we're happy to answer those both at the end of the presentation and throughout but at this

003time I'd like to turn our presentation over to miss Leonard good evening Madam president Lovato distinguished members of the board superintendent luria and viewing audience thank you for having us here tonight as Chief Burke stated I am the district science and social studies coordinator in this presentation we will look at board policy an overview of the committee's work the adoption timeline and the science committee's recommendation first we will look at the board policy that guided our work for the science process we followed word policy i j and ij-r next we will see an overview of the science committee's work the committee consisted of 28 participants the committee consisted of 28 participants with representation from students bilingual and monolingual teachers serving kindergarten through fifth grade the Community Union Representatives as well as school and District administrators

004we had eight meetings throughout our process totaling 16 hours six surveys were completed including vendor vendors to Pilot and the committee's final votes throughout this process seven vendors were considered and reviewed by the committee we will share more about this in our later in our presentation you will see a general overview of the committee's work on the slide displayed first we revised the science philosophy statement I think it's all right that's it nope we're good just make it there please to guide our work an evaluative rubric was created to score vendors materials the T the committee narrowed the vendors down to two Savas and TCI to Pilot with students and teachers at the elementary level finally our committee engaged in a discussion regarding our work and casted a final vote just the committee reviewed the

005previous written science philosophy statement and made Collective revisions you will see an excerpt from the revised science philosophy on your screen distinguished distinguished board members you will find the full philosophy statement located in your folder our viewing audience can access the full science Philosophy by clicking either of the underlying titles on this page both links will display English and Spanish versions next we will share more about the committee's timeline the left column of this chart shows the months the activities took place the column on the right shows a summary of activities that occurred our work began in October of 2022 with the revision of the district science philosophy statement to guide our work the committee selected resource evaluation criteria in November there were multiple meetings in which we finalized and approved the evaluation rubric to

006score the kindergarten through fifth grade science resource materials the committee used our revised philosophy statement Colorado State Standards common core standards and Next Generation science standards to create this evaluation rubric we ensure that all instructional materials met specific non-negotiable criteria which included the following aligned to standards research-based inclusive Equitable and accessible to all students materials are available in our dominant languages both Spanish and English using the evaluation rubric any instructional materials that did not meet these non-negotiable criteria were removed from the process rating these materials spanned over multiple meetings in December the committee continued to review and narrow curriculum materials in January of 2023 the committee completed the last reviews of curriculum materials and the narrowed the vendors list down to Savas and TCI using the overall score from each of from the evaluative rubric

007for elementary science core programming the pilot process overview was presented to the committee piloting teachers received a shared piloting calendar including training start and end dates and other important piloting information throughout the process updates were provided to school leaders and Elementary teachers including the work accomplished in February we had a committee committee meeting and reported out vendor one of the piling piloting teacher results we followed the same process in March with vendor 2 and the team formulated their recommendation piloting teachers scored each vendor using a teacher evaluation vendor rubric this section will highlight overall comments from piloting teachers and student survey results the first vendor piloted was Savas you will see a few comments submitted by three Elementary piloting teachers within the district on the slide displayed T1 T2 and T3 are located on the

008left representing piloting teachers please note more teachers piloted than these piloted these materials for tonight's purpose we are highlighting some of their comments a complete list is included in your folder some piloting teachers and committee members reported that Savas provided visuals to support learning however as indicated in their comments the spender lacked rigor and was challenging to navigate English and Spanish materials to meet the needs of our linguistically gifted students the second vendor in our piloting process was TCI as noted on the previous slide you will see a few comments submitted by piloting teachers within the district as the teacher feedback shows TCI provided connections to real world situations differentiated reading levels and Spanish materials were noted to be abundant and easily accessible for students and teachers alike at the end of the piloting process

009265 students participated in Anonymous survey students were asked the following question how would you rate the Savas curriculum visual aid was also provided to support students the next the same students were asked about TCI a visual aid was provided as well the last question in the survey was which vendor did you like best or prefer the color blue represents Savas and TCI is purple approximately 68 percent of students preferred TCI to Savas as indicated by The Color Purple the chart on the left displays the survey results from piloting teachers the chart on the right shows the results from the science committee both groups indicated support for the TCI science resource based on the body of evidence that included scoring rubrics survey results and feedback from from stakeholders as well as discussions and best practices our

010committee is recommending TCI as our district approved science resource for kindergarten through fifth grade our group identified pluses or positives they experienced and Deltas areas of opportunities they shared with the two vendors our committee is recommending TCI and over the next few slides you will see the group's thoughts regarding pluses and deltas each chart shows pluses on the left and Deltas on the right we would like to highlight group one comment that TCI has Spanish for a linguistically gifted students and connected well to academic standards on this slide we would like to draw your attention to the positive comment that TCI has valuable assessments including claim evidence and reasoning aligned with cmass group 3 notes TCI has embedded extended opportunities and supports our specialized populations finally we would like to focus on group Four's positive

011comment that TCI complements our reading language arts curriculum wonders our committee is recommending TCI is our district approved curriculum through fifth grade science instructional resource thank you again for your time this evening thank you Miss Leonard so Madam president Lovato Dr odia distinguished members of the board this concludes our science adoption overview for our K-5 science materials at this time we would open it up for any questions that you may have for us thank you thank you for the presentation uh colleagues questions comments um I have a couple to start and then I'll Circle back because you know Renee always has questions um what uh Elementary curriculum are we using now for science Madam president Lovato uh thank you for the question currently we have Mystery Science and it's one that we've been piloting or

012have been using since we've been in um since covet and remote learning we went through the science adoption process last year's you may recall and as we went through that process our team couldn't make a strong recommendation it was almost split down the middle so we went back to reevaluate the process that we followed last year with MGT and then went through the scoring rubrics that we had we redesigned the process and then looked at a more extensive list of vendors and used Unbound Ed to be able to help with that part of it excuse me not unbat and Ed reports to be able to design the process that we followed here so currently right now elementary schools are using Mystery Science thank you um that is a great segue into my question because I

013too looked at reports and um the Middle School the six through eight reviews for TCI who are not um two standards um so I'm wondering about the continuity I'm worried about our students learning this in elementary and then they're going to move up to secondary and and not have the same resources or the same alignment thank you again for the question Madam president Olado part of our process was designed to be able to look at a Smith Leonard had shared the next gen standards the Colorado academic standards and then the best practices alongside science so in that even though the resources may not necessarily be aligned the concepts that we want to be able to teach in aligning those standards throughout the curriculum pacing guides within the resource will help us so that the language

014is continuing around science vocabulary preschool all the way through 12th grade and so that should help with that regardless of the resource great thank you um my next question is around the standards I know Colorado standards has changed continuously changed so when you say you uh checked that they were in line are you looking at the 20 or 2009 or the updated standards because I think science was updated and 2012 it was a couple it was supposed to be implemented for next year thank you madam president for the question um yes we looked at the 2020 science standards which did Colorado did adopt portions in full transparency in GSS so the national next gen sorry social studies and science time in my brain um The Next Gen Science standards and so we have looked at

015both of those simultaneously and that was one of the non-negotiables to make sure that we met those if it didn't meet those then we didn't move forward with that specific vendor and they have adjusted with TCI and again those were in 2020 and they're the most updated Colorado science standards K through 12. great thank you stop commandering like uh Spanish supports were those evaluated separately or the same you you talked a little bit about it but I'm wondering what the um the summary evaluation of those thank you very much again president Lovato for that question yes so we um in the piloting process we did have teachers who are in our dual language and also just um speak Spanish right and serve our students in their native language also piloted it just in Spanish itself

016as well as the Dual language teachers so we were able to get a good read on the Spanish component of TCI and that was again one of the pieces that the teachers raved about that it not only supported them as a teacher and it's also in Spanish for the teacher guide as well but also our students and the students were actually able based upon some of the feedback to navigate it much more quickly than some of our teachers so they were specifically some second graders which is phenomenal so yes it's it was piloted effectively with our Spanish students and our teachers so thank you for asking great thank you so much if I may add Madame President obado we did it simultaneously so we did our english-only classrooms alongside our dual language for both our

017English only staff and our bilingual staff so it was embedded into the process we didn't hold a separate process or do it as a standalone it we did it in conjunction great great sorry hopefully move this over it's just myself sorry I'm sorry all right that's part of the problem about being too short right um so anyways I I guess um when I read this earlier one of um what stood out to me were the Deltas um uh and the different groups and knowing that um you know the from you know the lessons taking a long time to complete uh to online was hard for navigation it doesn't really correlate with some of the positives so I'm just curious as to is it adaptable is it something that you guys can can work with um

018tell me more about how they correlate with some of those positives because I I'm thinking about our especially our linguistically gifted students which you mentioned and if they are doing it in Spanish and they're having a hard time in Spanish I I get that a lot of our curriculums are translated from English to Spanish so not necessarily culturally relevant sometimes the relevance isn't in there so what are we doing to make sure that um the kids are are getting it I mean if it's if you already have all these Deltas that are already saying like lots of reading for example if you're linguistically gifted and you're trying to learn what it's you know especially um if it's not relevant to you I guess I'm just asking how flexible is it for you guys to adapt

019it to make it unique to our community so that the kids are and the staff Because by the looks of some of the Delta some of this came from staff not necessarily just the students right so Madam president Lovato board member Zubia thank you for the question any of our curricular resources that we have this one would be included are all adaptable in most cases curricular resources give you a whole bunch more than teachers actually need which is great and there's no perfect one so in there we would be able to customize the pieces that are specific to our district and that's where the scope and sequence and the pacing guides are going to come in and that's where alongside our teaching staff and the district support we would outline those for this curriculum and

020that's some of the work that we would map out for this summer so we're ready for August that's where we would identify which portions of the curriculum are we going to use how do we adapt it to be able to meet the needs of our students and then how do we train teachers to be able to utilize that resource and then train instructional coaches to be able to support teachers when they're out working and that's what our coordinator comes in with leading that Laura is there anyone on it thank you for the question um it's fairly adaptable and people transparency we use TCI as a secondary six through 12 for social studies and it's extremely adaptable so they both have those those components um so it's pretty flexible and around the time I know you

021had mentioned secretary Zubia that um around that it took a long time through the piloting process it was a short window of time but enough window of time to get a really good gauge and also a teacher is trying to internalize the curriculum internalize the units and so I think there was that could be a learning curve but that's where we come in as the district and we help and support and take some of that off the teacher as well thank you for your response because I know in the past that's anytime you switch curriculum from one to the other there's that transition period and that learning curve and I just want to make sure that you know we're not getting rid of everything that was working just to start something new I think because

022that's been um you know the issue in the past at least from a parent's perspective is the way you're switching again so I just want to make sure that that there is that transition period and and that that flexibility and I like the customization of it is actually working um in part as well during that transition period so it's not like we're cutting off immediately from the one that we had before and all of a sudden starting with a new one but that there is some flexibility there so that not only it's not overwhelming for the staff but more so for the students and the parents so thank you other questions comments I'll continue if that's okay I have a couple more um so in reading the comments around this um one really struck a

023chord with me and it said um we have to think about our students and their love of learning and this particular teacher went back to Mystery Science which I believe is our current curriculum for elementary um I I think I have some concerns partly with what you said is like this is another change it would be helpful for me to see the the rollout of new curriculum and when we're gonna need to be considering it again for approval because to me um I I read an article by Unbound Ed and it was actually a training and they talked about um how instruction needs to be grade level engaging affirming a meaningful and that basically comes down to it being culturally relevant I feel like there's such a missed opportunity here in our city because we

024hear about it all the time we're in between Refinery and Arsenal like I think there's so many Hands-On project-based um opportunities that we could take advantage to or advantage of for our students that will get them loving learning um and that's kind of missed about with me it it was I totally get that we have to play the game and we have to have it aligned to standards but I just worry about the timeline of accepting this getting all the materials in training our teachers with again another thing we're adding to their plates at the start of a new year where I personally would prefer that we take our time and do it right rely on our professional help with tntp and move this but I I don't want to derail all the work and

025all this is happening it just um it puts me in a tough position right now so it's not a really question more of a comment to the overall thing but I just I I really want to make sure we're intentional um especially when we have more leniency with with um disciplines such as science social studies I get math and English language arts is a little different but here I'd like to see us differentiate what we do in atoms 14. oh just to build off of that I think something that we've seen in previous presentations is like an alignment to the board goals and not necessarily just policies but thinking about what our Board of goals are um and what The Graduate profile is and backwards planning from there I think would really help when we're

026thinking about curriculum and curriculum adoption um they're not necessarily just focusing on the policies I think that would also help I agree all right any other questions comments thank you all right thank you both thank you so much uh next on the agenda is financial Administration monitoring report for April and budgeting monetary monitoring report for May um Dr Lydia back to you thank you madam president members of the board um last business meeting um second Tuesday of last month we brought in or I brought in the second el16 trying to do two things at the same time find that item here that I can share the el16 that based on the calendar that we adopted that you adopted on in on February 14th with policy governance this was scheduled to be presented to you as

027part of the monitoring reporting for the board and um and you see here two items the next one is el15 which is the budget monitoring report so we are based on the feedback that we received we from the board and even including this item of the K5 science curriculum and adoption what I would like to propose for the board to consider is every item that it's going to be brought for approval on a given month the month before during the study session if there's a presentation or if it's a monitoring report that we need to discuss to bring to be brought here for discussion so that you can actually you know even think of additional questions that you may have after the meeting that you can be sent in my way so that we can

028respond in that export meeting um so you know I just say that including the science curriculum um we will move the dates on that so that it can be done sooner so that you can have more time to um to to look at it and think about uh implications for the district uh but this financial Administration monitoring reports for April um is as a result of that feedback um we're I am bringing also El 15 for a way to discuss that is not um scheduled to be approved until next month based on the calendar that you approve but I will actually after we discuss it I would actually I would actually like to propose something different from a different date for both as we move forward so I have Doug Moss here and we will

029start with el16 the financial report for April and um if I may ask a dog to walk us a little bit through this monitoring report and it will open into any questions that you may have about what is in front of you thank you um so el16 we have basically you have the report in front of you and it basically breaks down each of the uh questions that's asked and then our response to that question is on this report here so you know basically we are in compliance our quarterly reports have to be given uh it's state law and so we are in compliance and uh you know we this is something new to all of us so we're all still trying to learn this policy stuff but uh you know we put together our

030budget last year and uh so in number one it's just basically saying what we appropriated for this coming school year and and the total budget um when you go down to number two you know all all Financial activities are are done from July July to now through March and so that is showing that all Financial transactions to date have been taken care of and everything's paid and revenues have been received to date except for maybe some requests for funds from the Colorado Department Ed you know they're always a month or two behind when we send in our requests so we're always waiting and waiting and waiting for the federal dollars to come in um we then go down and you know it says uh we're following all the all the rules and regs on in

031debtness you know our cop funds we're paying those uh our bonds our risk fund which is a sub-category of the general fund all of that's uh included in in the indebtedness of the district we settle all of our payroll uh monthly so payroll's done uh the last weekend the month and then all liabilities are paid within five to ten days some are due earlier than that like uh IRS payments uh all the taxes things like that they have to be paid right away so we have no problems there um we we do uh we make sure that we follow all of our reports timely so like our quarterlies as soon as we get everything wrapped up for a month sometimes it it's not a hundred percent accurate as of uh say through this month because

032some things are still posting and P card payments are being posted back so next month when you get a financial report it'll be all caught up through that month of March okay um we do have to arrange for an audit every year so that's that's a given so I don't even worry about that one we do have to post it and uh we we send it to the Colorado Department of Ed State auditor's office Moody's our bond company uh the municipal Exchange Commission we have to send all the Audits and stuff so we just shoot a file directly to them of the audit and that suffices them and we're in compliance um we're always going after receivables so um like the state we're constantly as the month ends we're shooting them a requests for funds

033and then we're at their Mercy as to when we receive them so um we we have to maintain uh records that are uh recognized as governmental accounting principles and so everything within our system has to be prepared and ready like our quarterlies or when we do the audit we prepare all that all the financials for the Auditors we give them the documentation they go through it all um we do have all the uh all the financials on the transparency page and so we have to show that within 60 days after after they're done we have to have that posted to our page and and CDE does check that every now and then they'll come back and say uh you're missing something and it's like oh okay so you go back and shoot it in there

034and be done um uh the we don't fail to publish or uh post or financial condition so that's our audit so we do Post our audit on the transparency page as well um you know we're working on the cost benefit analysis stuff now with the new package that we're waiting to receive they're working on it now so once we get that that'll be that much easier for us to predict and forecast in the future so I'm really looking forward to getting that thing done and here and we're always constantly trying to find new grants um I think you guys probably get bombarded at times by all the requests for this grant that Grant this grant but I I do have to commend this district for doing that because a lot of districts you know they

035just get the real simple ones and they don't apply for the competitive and I come into the district for that and then you know any loan that we would have to do short-term loan with the state um of course we would have to come to you and do a resolution and all that so and maybe this year we may have to do it because of the the amount of funds that we get late is in April May June and sometimes this this year we were cut real close and finally we got a three million dollar Federal payment I was like thank you so and that that's pretty much all I have on El 16 and so if you have any questions I'd sure be willing to answer if I can okay thank you Mr Moss

036board members questions comments thank you I really um I'm starting to like part of this policy governance um things like this yeah um especially it makes it very clear the the questions we're asking and how you respond um I do have a couple of wonderings and and questions if you don't mind um one of them was going down um the list here on number two where it says um talking about uh expenditures and um timing I I think it would be helpful and and kind of a learning experience because we all know uh School Finance is a beast but I think it would be helpful for us as a board to know um upcoming deadlines like you you know them but I think it's it's not only adding to our knowledge base but it helps

037um with transparency because then we know you know next year at this time okay we should be looking for XYZ we should make sure we're asking you or you know making sure that it's on a report like this um let's see the other question I had was around um it well that that also includes number five where we're talking about what needs to be filed um unless we're in school Finance we don't know about all this like I didn't know about Moody's and all of this and so I got on the board I totally understand you know annual things like the kafir and things like that but I think it would be again a learning experience for all of us if we if you were in this reports to say hey um this date this

038was due we filed it on this date this was due we filed it sure um I did have a question around number seven around um the receivables um totally love and and I will say there has been a huge Mark difference because I know if I don't cash my check for my internet I get an email right away um do you have an aging AR report that you um that your staff has like how how do you um monitor things like that I think is what I'm trying to get through like like if we knew understood the process of how the financial department is monitoring things like this um like on number seven how we track that is we keep a spreadsheet of all of our requests for funds so each month we know exactly

039how much in expense we did for say July we know in July we need to request funds for that amount and then once we've received the funds we show the date when they were received and that gives us a tracking and then we can track all the other ones by Grant actually so awesome so we we do it by each Grant account number per se and that that's how we track it within our own computer system Excel sorry that's helpful to know um I'll lead a little into that or elaborate a little more my wondering is um I love how these are all tied it goes to number 12 about the ground so I completely appreciate how much work it takes and how many um more grants we've secured as a district because that wasn't

040happening um I think what would be helpful to me is to know what those are for example we had a huge disappointment um when the 21st century Grant went away we as a board did not know about that until um a week or so and this was before anybody's time here a week or so before that happened but we I think we we don't have that knowledge of what grants are out there and when they're going to end so we don't know when to be asking questions like that um and then it also to me builds upon our first goal of ensuring we have a good Financial standing because we we need to be monitoring all of these programs and contracts that we have and maybe not every single one but big ones I think

041that has a huge financial tie um but other than that completely loves the reports and I'm like in this policy governance reporting model what I'll do uh yeah yeah what I'll do is I'll get get a report generated for you that'll show every grant that we have the amount when they started and when they end because like we have a ton of like easy grants and I mean it's just like boom boom boom boom I mean there's like five or six and we're tracking them all so I can get that for you that would be awesome thank you to probably just be a separate thing that I can prepare and give to you and remind me on the calendar are these quarterly will we get these quarterly okay yes yeah we have to report quarterly

042to you so I'll probably like the next well that's the audit but I can still do something like this report just to give it to you as a quarterly update in June even though the quarter's not done maybe in the June meeting I can give you something on that some of it I'm president some of the things and as we go through seeing what works for us in this report um we will add in here I think it's going to be important as we move forward the interpretation of what I think as a superintendent you are asking so that we can get yes that's exactly what we're asking because it may be something different so I want to be able to to provide exactly what you're looking for um so adding that interpretation here will

043be important but when we talk and I think perfect segue to your question because as um as we think you you receive this quarterly reports that is not necessarily in this format that is going to come as a monitoring report this is the year long report quarterly you will continue getting those as you are um right now and uh but this is a one-time year that says every quarter you received it so we have been in compliance or I as a superintendent have been in compliance with what is expected of me as far as reporting and keeping you informed of the financial reports um that is how I'm interpreting this one but if we if you're interpreting that you're going to receive this format every quarter so every basically two or three months in a

044board meeting you're gonna receive these documents that is different to um to my thinking so I think this is a good moment to talk about this to see are you going to be expecting this because you received the reports but on your Friday updates on a quarterly basis this document is is me certifying you know last year we have been um compliant or I have been compliant with what you are asking so I want to clarify that and see what would you like to see yeah for me that's helpful because if this is annual I'm curious as to why cute quarter three is where we do this is that under the assumption that quarter four will be more in-depth and it's an annual thing yeah uh perfect question we spoke about this because and this

045is why we said we I might I will recommend for us to look at this at a different time okay uh for two reasons um so because your question had two two parts to it so my recommendation you'll find is to move it at least one month because that way we can include three full quarters if we do it um in the April meaning the quarter is not quite completed the documents and the reports are not quite finished so it's basically including two quarters plus the two of the previous year uh right which it makes it a little um funny I guess so if we move it at least one month forward meaning rather than bringing it to you in April we bring it at least in May that will include three full quarters the

046fourth quarter is included in the audience which also happens and it's part of this reporting we've completed an audit so that fourth you get the quarterly as well via the updates that you get um normally and the full report is included in the audit so to your um question is making me think of my proposal do we move it just one month or do we include it until after the audit is completed um because the audit the report we got it in December it's really going to be almost looking at the year before so my recommendation will be two three quarters knowing that the fourth quarter although you get it again in the quarterly updates it will be included in the audience does that make sense yeah I I guess um and this is probably

047a question directed to our CFO because I think within that reporting we also have to include budget planning for the upcoming year and then the audit typically happens way after I I'm looking for like a year-end versus like like what we're getting three-fourths of the the pitcher and the three-fourths of the pictures of how we have spent the money yeah the planning which is the next one EO 50 uh el15 that is the budgeted in in the planning of it which is scheduled to be in May but it doesn't make make sense yeah correct correct so how would it work best for sure so we're looking at probably doing the budget part of it uh proved in August because the budget will be done we'll actually have you the book I mean what we'll do

048back exactly what we're going to do like we did last year we'll do a presentation on the preliminary and we'll and we'll get that approved then we'll do the whole budget book and give that to you as number 15 for the budget let me just clarify it's not that you will be approving the budget in August you still approve it in in you know by June 30th right as you know if it's expected by law you will go through that same process the reporting in this document will be accepted by you in August after this that way it will include and the only reason it's in August because it's in July we do not have a meeting right but in the first meeting in August you will receive then this document noting the planning and

049the budget process that took place though the previous year I I like that better personally and I would love my board members to to fill in only because to me a report is after the fact it's this is what we did and that would give us the full picture for the whole year um because I'm glad you clarified because to me I was reading that this was we would be coming to us quarterly right yeah board members if you have degree or have comments you know I agree because the fiscal year is very different than the annual year and I think that that's where it becomes confusing for a lot of us that are used to looking at things annually as opposed to looking at it from the fiscal perspective so of course it makes

050sense that whatever you spent the previous school year is very different than what you spent the previous calendar year and so because the school year is more of the it's part of the fiscal year as opposed to the actual calendar year so it's good to actually call that out because I think a lot of people especially are viewing audience probably will be very confused as to why we're asking these questions when it comes to the budget just to clarify it's our fiscal year goes from July right August July 1st through June 30th yes there you go yep so yeah it's very weird I'm not the numbers person so thank you for catching all of that and Mr musk do you think that's um workable or feasible because I know end of year is busy time

051for all all accountants so we're including like budgeting for the next year uh reporting yeah like are you does that work in your world okay that works okay but then I clarify yeah to hear to see if I I understood in my interpretation so el15 which is the budgeting and the planning right which is supposed to come um in May based on the calendar it's going to be moved to August because that will be in it it's actually posted up here what is the budgeted here that will come in August rather than in May that is correct because that's going to be El er15 is going to be the budget correct so you approve the budget by June the report you get it in August correct correct yes so that is one el16 which is

052the quarterly updates that you just heard that do you want how do you want to ask you how do you want it quarterly broken up first though okay so then you're gonna look at then we'll be looking at April June in May in May right so we're going to get it like that so the physical one you want in August which is the l16 and El 15 will do quarterly like we have been May until April right correct so we'll push it yes a month but that will not include the last quarter because we are not completed but you're going to give us the whole order at on in August the whole quarter for the physical year which will go from June 1st to the the whole physical year of the budget and the planning

053on August 7th that we've already approved correct we'll see that then and uh the the other one right and then the last quarter one will be done in probably December November whenever we get the audit that would be our foreign yeah things because we just we just did that yeah 15 is what you have here on the on the screen here can you make that a little bigger maybe um Ramona please um this is the budget to end the planning and that is you know you go through the process approve the budget by June 30th as it's required by law and then we prepare the report for you to accept my monitoring reporting to you to accept it in August and that monitoring report will basically said this is what we followed for you to

054complete for the planning and for the approval of the budget and I am in compliance based on what you're expecting that is el15 the budgeting in the planning of it that's why and this is based on this calendar that you approved in February it's it's coming next month but we're not even we're not even ready because the process has not been completed until you approve it in June right so so this is what we're asking to push in August year 15. yo 16 is the quarters and how we're spending our money and use in our money which is right now but even if we push it in May it's only going to have three quarters of this year because we have not completed the last quarter of the year El 16 will be presented quarter

055one quarter two quarter three and then quarter four will be the annual it will be divided with the audit in December okay right so in December you're going to be looking at the last quarter of the month in the report but you will still continue receiving the quarterly updates in the Friday updates the documentation in the Friday updates when when are we looking at getting the annual the um because the audit comes much after the the school year so what are we getting near the school and so you want to see the fourth quarter of the year of last year so that then I could put something together on a fourth quarter after accruals and and payables are done it won't be audited but it'll be close to what it would look like yeah I

056think that would be helpful or at the very least for if we adjust the Q3 policy El 16 report to include year per year-end projections and then I hate to add another report but something that would shorten this so it's not well what we could do is make both reports that's what I'm thinking for budget and for quarterlies and make that both of them in August and that'll give me time to do something with July it'll be close because we're still doing payables and things like that that's why it's unaudited but at least it'll give us a pretty good idea where we stood throughout the year I think that totally helpful yeah and then we'll get the audit in November December time frame and that'll be the true up yeah okay perfect so we will

057move both that's exactly what I was thinking the only way for us to include the last quarter quite not completed yet but you know pretty close will be if we push both el16 and EO 15 to August it would probably be helpful too to do it as the work session not a actual business meeting yes because that'll give me another couple weeks to get right wrapped up so we presented in the session as we are doing now and then you will accept it um August in September that first meeting in September yeah that makes more sense okay okay and it's going to be once a year the quarters you continue receiving it as you are right now but it's one monitoring including all four yeah okay okay I'm good with that all right perfect so

058we're gonna summarize that and add the interpretation piece in here uh so that we are clear on that and we'll see if that works for you and if not we'll you know bring it back and say let's tweak it wherever let's take it wherever we need to tweak it the one in August I just don't want to have like 100 questions for them when we know it's not final yet even if it's off a little bit because that's like I said that's the whole thing is is the final like you can give us the best numbers you can but in finance something can always change and I just don't want to be like oh my god well what about this and then we see the final that wasn't on this one you have to understand

059until it's audited until it's a final you can show it to us 100 times it will change I just want to make sure you'll have something that's the biggest thing like in finance like until we get those paid until we get that stuff done it's not going to be the final I just want to make sure if we're having to see it then because you want to see that understand that it it possible it may change right I just want to make sure those final numbers yeah I completely understand I think for me um it allows closer budget monitoring because we all know in zero-based budgeting everybody does this end of the year I have a bucket of money let me spend it and I just I think it would it would behooves us to

060understand what are our needs are we allocating the resources and we're not just willingly spending money because we have it um and and I just I think it gives us closer Financial oversight even though we don't know the exact numbers we should have a pretty good idea um and to be fair in into Mr amador's Point what you're receiving here is not audited either because this is still within the year right so it's just it's not going to be too different then but because it's the last one there might be yeah it's a good clarification thing oh yeah sorry I know you guys hate numbers but this is where this is where I get ribbed up [Laughter] okay I think there's another one still right with more numbers yeah well no actually that was um

061el15 that although is is due now but we do not have anything to report because this is about the budget so it was it really was not you know this no the beautiful thing that this is what we're going to be doing with this monitoring reports is it working at this time is it working thank you madam president thank you um and so that confused me a little next up is the quarterly Financial update we're going to walk through this or what we can either walk through it or you guys take a look at it uh if you have questions this is a different version because CDE sent out a new template and I wanted to test it out so this is something new it uh take a look at it I don't want to

062bore you to death but take a look it'll show you exactly what was spent third quarter on the left side and then it shows you year to date what is spent year to date to budget or revenues received and then it shows third quarter last year where we were at as a district as well so it's kind of different than what you've been seeing but I just wanted to to give you this one and say give me some feedback if you like it great if you don't it's not good enough we can go back to some of the other ones so whatever you guys think um I personally love the consolidation like I hate I always used to hate having multiple Excel sheets because you had to report one way to one person and Report

063another so to me if if this fits your needs and and you like it I love it um I going through there the the red numbers really throw me off but Red's like a No-No color and accounting so I'm wondering since this is quarterly is it are you able to speak towards those or do you prefer that we submit questions like how how do we what what is shown is they actually spent more this quarter compared to what the actual budget shows they're still in compliance if you look over on on the right side there's a couple of them that they've overspent but those were um like three million dollars that we've paid for Subs this year um that who knew that was going to happen uh just things that come up that throw things

064out of whack elpa we didn't receive as much help of funds this year compared to previous years so we're out of whack a little bit in Elba my biggest thing is I look at what the totals are at the bottom okay we're at 76 percent right where we should be I'm happy with that okay that's super helpful yeah because there there were some where I was going to ask you if it's the line items or do we just it's one bulk fund and that's what we worry about and you work your magic okay yeah one place that we may have been budgeted that it was not used as much to cover for this so I I think I'm more worried about the bottom line because I know there's going to be areas that will go

065over it just happens so as long as we stay under budget at the end I'm happy if not I'm gonna have to come to you and say well we need to do a supplemental budget which we will have to come to you in June for a supplemental for the capital reserve fund okay glad you touched on that because that's where my question lied was Capital because they know we're doing a lot of that work my second question was around um how it was the Student Activity fund so that one um that one I guess I'm just wondering um if you can help me understand this fund because we have Student Activity Revenue um is that fees because in third quarter we had zero activity for quarter three um this is Page correct so so there

066was no money deposited in that quarter yet so and is that because are those the fees that are that are charged oh the activity fund is basically it's not even our responsibility that is each of the schools have their own accounts okay and they track their own fund stuff through that now it does hit our books and we monitor have to monitor that okay and so yeah to me I hate fund 23 because it's not our money it's the students who went out and raised the money or you know sold candy bars or whatever so it's the kid to me it's the kids money it's not it's not District money and does each school's students have a say in where PTO yeah ptos do a lot of it they do a lot of the raising

067uh some of the some of them have different accounts broken out within their activity funds so maybe it's for a reading club or something like that so they'll raise their own funds and then I don't know if the kids have a say how the funds are spent but it's that sponsor or the principal would take care of that fund so fund 23 is at a school is your stuff from them and you can find the student body cam for things for it like to pay for a field trip stuff like that so it's a fun that is on here that we look at but it's not a fund that we control it's not a fun that we have that's everything that comes in through the schools it's a it's a fun that we have to

068have but the schools control that fund because it's a fundraising fund so it's it's going to be all your stuff that PTO has so like when we were decided Temple camp and they had that money in there they get to choose what they want to do with it and it's the families or the people there I don't think the students have a say unless the parents are like oh well my student wants this so I want to do this or I want to run this but it's all the stuff that they raise at the schools that's their fun and their money to spend how they kind of want the that said are set forth by their ppos so it's not yeah it wouldn't be a fun like we can see it on here and if

069there's money in here usually you'll see those funds that'll come in mostly in the fourth quarter because that's after a c Mass so that's when we have all of our field trips scheduled all of our events for continuation then buying cakes then buying this so that's easier four quarters where we see a lot of that money spent are deposited because that's when they use it because around that time where my question was I guess because I know um Dr Lydia has been working really hard about field trip things like that I want to make sure it works I mean what we should be funding for our students and not we need the pto's importance for everything and I'm thinking things like and that would be part of the part that's part of the school budget

070and the principle to allocate those funds so we give the school a budget that does have those built in but a lot of those other phones they are the ones that's the thing right we need to look at them and right and allocate right you would have to book it would be perfect so all that those funds are allocated to the principal to this side whether they go on this or what they're doing so that's them to say oh Kindergarten is going to have a field trip first grade everyone should have a field trip at least one a year that's budgeted into their budget at the school budget level that's good but I think that's definitely need to know like I'll give an example I was surprised and I appreciate their generosity but they gave

071um a grant to one of our schools so for a field trip yeah I just want to her which we are ensuring that we're allocating the resources where they're needed for each role without having to build mine items by buying items like I just wanted to understand that yeah that fund is not a fun that we would have to be controlled by PTO or whoever controls that one correct it's multiple accounts yes and if I may add to your question uh because academics and we're working with um now in the planning for title one so ensuring that that Equitable offering is provided to all children so ensuring that there's a minimum field trips either by a semester or a year for each grade level These funds can be used above and beyond that which is

072perfectly fine but we do not want for the schools to think that they have to use this for those minimum um field trips let's um in expectation so we're working with our schools because yes it is based on um as it is right now a principal um uh what is the word that I'm looking at uh decision right the autonomy for that but what we're setting up is that basic expectations of what is the minimum above and beyond um that's perfect but every every child should have access to as a minimum one field trip a year as a minimum in uh the title one and title two fun the title one obviously into Title One arms yeah are videos for that any further questions than anybody else so for clarification this is the quarterly update

073that there will be moving forward receiving rather than the other formatting so this is the quarterly update that you that you get in in the Friday updates that's right all right all right all right thank you well if there's no further questions or comments agenda is honor president thank you members of the board and we do have some individuals here from our staff um uh we you did see this presentation before so I'm not going to go over it um but it is here just for your easy reference in the public but when we had this ref this uh presentation where we had this presentation um then you wanted to hear a little bit more of the initiatives and the objectives or maybe some of the strategies that we worked on so we have here

074Sarah from tntp who has actually helped us tntb has helped us facilitate and instructor the process that started in November so it's actually you know within the six months even today actually we start a little early than that but uh the first meeting happened in November and we also have here Mr silac he is one of the secondary the secondary principal that attended every single session um principal Luciana also attend that she was not able to come here today and we also have Jason malmberg from um representing not only labor but also you know one of the teachers who attended so um when you the feedback was rather than go going in in chunks of let's talk about one each one of the priorities and objectives at once we want to hear them all and

075talk about them all so it's so much that the format that I would like to propose if you're okay with that because we could barely uh very easy to tweak it so I'm gonna get your feedback on how you prefer it prefer for a super Senate uh we can very quickly move the tables and have three stations in each one of the stations um we're gonna we can take turns if we finish you know 15-20 minutes each there will be a little um about an hour for this process and we can be looking at the three main priorities one of them is the instructional programming that our students receive or that we're proposing for them the second area will be human um Human Resources how we are recruiting retaining supporting high quality professionals and the

076other one will be um the academics portion of it so one is um the programs but a different one is the delivery of the instructions so I we have a choice given the time we have we can do three sessions where we you know you will split and spend about 20 minutes uh in each with a facilitator looking at under each one what would be the objectives and initiatives which is what you wanted the feedback you wanted to hear last time or we can do one session everybody during 20 minutes we look at it and then we open it for even less than 20 minutes I would say um share the documents um you can look at the initiatives and the objectives that we have and then we can we can have a group discussion

077at least in one of the areas and then we bring one area each time so it's up for you to decide because we can do both but I know it's it's much later than what we expected so you tell me you tell me how how would you like to um go over this thank you Dr Lydia um I'll let my board members chime in I think for me um it's always hard to receive information to look at and then to meet with somebody and have them tell me it and then to be able to provide any good feedback so I would prefer the latter that we we review it and then ask questions um or any other format I'm I'm open to suggestions um I will say also really quickly this might change a lot

078of things um to me I've I've been on the outside of all of the strategic planning which it's it's taken so long so thank you to everyone that's participated and contributed I I think for me um I I'm missing the student voice in this I'm missing the community voice I would I would love if we took a more deliberate approach to getting feedback on this and I don't know what that would look like like maybe it starts with us doing this this first iteration and then providing our feedback and then move on to others but I just I I think the the best plans are put forth when they're done in a collaborative way and while we've had collaboration in the group that's participated in it other than the um feedback about the goals I

079don't know that we have solicited feedback from the the broader Community we yeah we have so so and I don't know Sarah if you want to jump in and share a little bit of how that was done um we did uh there were about as you know the eight sessions of the Cadre which was about 36 individuals but that included members of every of the groups that you mentioned and in between um students the feedback was gathered differently because since this was during the day we didn't pull students during the day um yeah but um other than than during that but in between the sessions and I know um director Zubia was part of this in between the sessions it was basically homework for lack of a better term from each member to go in

080and share that with their peers so principal to principal um you know there were all members of all owners of the community and it was brought back the following the following meetings so the collaboration it is not collaboration only in within this 36. um it was yeah it was beyond so Sarah if you may in if Jason and Tom if you do not mind joining here in case you want to add something because they were in there every single time in taking information back and forth for their groups and then back to to the team yeah we collected feedback from students teachers School leaders community members throughout the process after each session I personally attended DAC and spoke with the students there to receive feedback both in the vision and the priorities as we were

081setting them forth I think our goal is actually to move this forward um and and actually start to socialize it with the with the community to make sure that we can launch uh in time for next school year so I'm going to pass it to my my peers who are in our group with us uh similar yes we did bring it to Kearney middle school and we did get input from our staff and students at different checkpoints throughout the process um I think there is still uh potential need to get more student voice involved as well I would agree with that and I think um well I think we've made some progress in terms of some direction and getting the feedback from the entire community just second everything everybody else said yeah and I I

082probably I don't know what's do you want me to pass them okay so if you take one of each yeah because those two go together if we want to review now and into groups or yeah I would rather review foreign and then we could probably then if we're going to do them all together I would recommend to select one maybe the one that is going around which I don't know which one it is because I just put them together and pass it on but that's okay um the students experience a higher quality so the end um the in this remember this is aligned to your four goals right that you um worked on so this is around student achievement um and then um the work that you know happens from that goal to the priority

083how were that priority selected uh the objectives that came in key indicators uh the page almost continues to the smaller one of the initiatives what if if you look at this first one I would like to focus the attention on um on two things from the boarding for feedback in my my team can help hear the Catherine that was part of it um uh first of all uh look at look specifically at the at the objectives right now note these are objectives that if we're talking about a five-year five to six year strategic plan actually the facilities is even beyond the five years but if we're looking at this particular piece on students um in academics if you look at the objectives um that we have set for the first year because this will um

084will be more it's a moving Target the academics always and from there to look at the initiatives the initiatives is basically which is in the in the shorter page how are we planning or the initial thinking from the group on how we will be achieving this so if you give some feedback on this too and I want before I pass it on to Sarah I want to know one thing that I want to bring to this group because we talked about students being proficient uh but we're we're talking about cmass but we also know that the C mass as it is right now it is not reflective of not only our needs but um is not reflected either of the um personal um characteristics of our students so one of the things that I would

085like to recommend for you to consider is not having our objectives based on C Mass because we know we've made a case out of the females they put us their winners or losers but then consider us looking at the Spanish assessments the star assessments that is used everywhere and to look at the growth of the students that does not mean I want to make sure that you know it's not perceived as we're not going to care about the C Mass we will continue working on that but as you know for you as a board to determine has there been real growth where are our students performing understanding their own um uh their own identities are we making that progress so that is one of the things that I would like for us to and for

086you as a board to give feedback and have a discussion on and um and also when we look at the initiatives are this appropriate is there any other initiative that you think you know you need to consider this one so that we can get to this whole goal so I would like for us to to frame our conversation because we can go and rabbit holes for each one of this um so that's the first uh thing Sarah yeah I would just want to double down on on something that Dr Maria named this is a five year these are five year goals so when you look at the goals listed under the objectives the metrics this is what we would expect or we're we're working towards in 2028 the next step for the Cadre the drivers

087of the work is actually to Benchmark it for the next five years so our our objective for next year wouldn't be sixty percent proficiency it would be something much more reasonable compared to where we are right now and then just to name uh trying to figure out like how do we measure proficiency without needing to use CMS once a year assessments like what other assessments are there particularly that are given Spanish to measure proficiency of students here and Adam's 14. so I have a question for you Sarah so with what you have what we have in front of us what do you need from us as a board that you're looking for before you can go out and get more feedback from Community students staff whatever you need what are you looking for from us

088on the Strategic plan if we look at it what what are things that you have questions that you want us to answer for you I think it's what's most exciting like what are you excited about when you see these goals what's the story we'll be able to tell when we hit these goals under the objectives are they the right goals and certainly right here in front of you you're just looking at three of I think 12 that we have to share with you and when you look at the initiatives one of the things we want to do is put these in order of operations what feels most important so I'd love to hear from this group what feels most important to tackle next year which we prioritize for next year and is there something major

089missing that we need to do first is that helpful absolutely made a mess with this yeah I think we just like we haven't seen these initiatives um until now so like right now I have the recruits retains and supports high quality professionals um so are we picking this one to review and you want us to talk about it these 2017 let me let me clarify them because I made a mess of my packets here there is a long page that actually has if you will consider this a long Excel sheet that cannot be copied in one so the long one is the first page and that should have your board ends because that is the that is the base of anything that we worked on your goals so the goal that you have here is

090the one that is student achievement every student in R14 school district has access and skills to opportunities that prepare them for success in a post-secondary path of their choosing right because that they have a community and culture you know okay seriously made a mess okay so put that down I'm gonna I'm gonna pass this one which is the actual one okay I know I put two packets of the same together so I made it made a mess just put that away and then uh we're passing this one yes yeah that's awesome I'll pick them up look in the top left box the blue box we all want to start with student achievement got it Adams 14 students experience high quality education okay my secretary gave him all organized to me and uh I cannot even

091I made a mess we're going to go to student Achievement First yes my so my apologies for that is it here until any time but up to you um so if we have 12 of them how about we get a whole list of them on a Friday update and we go through them and priorities we're not going to do 12 of them today we're gonna do three which are the main ones the others the some of the priorities are under the same goal so we're going to be doing the three main goals aligned to this yes aligned to your goals correct and the 12 the 12 number was the objectives so each each major goal has three or so objectives that's where that number came from got it my apologies I seen our papers all

092right so um let's go ahead and take a few minutes for you to start digesting starting with the the objectives what excites you um considering a different assessment um in parallel to that you can start looking at the initiatives because of course they need to make sense um to one another and they saw this in the last four years [Music] of course so we're only reading the student achievement one you know and then I think the others were going to get in the frontier please I don't know this one I thought you had slime right here yeah yeah I think right the one we actually clicked on that James that James just shared oh that's on in board docs um um okay we're back um about the strategic planning so members you had a few

093about 10-15 minutes to look at one of the areas we're going to do one area at a time as I said there's a lot of information here but I will pass it on to to Sarah to guide us through this portion to to hear feedback in you know first thoughts on what you just saw start comments questions okay all right I can know that stuff saying all that stuff so I wanted to draw your attention to the the slides so that you can see how these the we're going to actually look through these different priorities the North Star priority is the one we're starting with and everything else should support students in in making that real for them so this one that we're looking at we felt as the Cadre was the most important for

094the future of Adams 14. I just wanted to um reiterate that during the process of multiple meetings which I unfortunately wasn't enabled I was unable to attend every one of them but I know that my peers here attended had perfect attendance some of them did um which was really nice but this was uh very thoughtfully done so thank you to Sarah and her team they did a fabulous job of making sure that everybody's voice was heard and that they were taking into account what was really coming from the group that was being representative of the community as a whole so I just wanted to put out there that a lot of This was um a lot of the questions you might have were probably some of the questions that were addressed during our hours and

095hours and hours of work in this room when we were working in the Strategic plan so I just wanted to say thank you again to everybody who participated um for the amount of hours that they did to put this together and um yeah I'm interested in hearing what you guys think once it's all said and done I thought it was well put together and I appreciate the fact that like I said everybody's voice was included and heard and um multiple times did we go back and forth and this is what came from that work so thank you sir okay um so first off I I want to Echo what director Zubia said around um just the work and the time and the effort that was put into this I'm a very visual person and so

096I appreciate um the way it's laid out I did have to ask a couple clarifying questions um but got some help in figuring out what is aligned to a what on here um I think that one of the things that I'm excited about is one of the objectives the last one that says by the end of the Academic Year 100 of students and Adams 14 will engage in social emotional learning and receive the wraparound supports needed to allow them to grow at least 1.5 years academically per year I think that is like one of the most important things if not the most important thing to ensure that our students can succeed and have opportunities and access to things that will make them successful in life I am also excited to see what the monitoring tools

097look like for the key indicators the Dual language experiences the dual enrollment um I once was a concurrent enrollment teacher for a college psychology course and so I'm just really excited to see those numbers and see how we're going to progress monitor that and how we are going to show that to the community a lot of the times districts will have their strategic plans and then they'll have you know this great table that says this is how we're going to monitor our strategic plan and it's nicely set up with years and everything and then there's no data in there and so I'm just really excited to see what that's going to look like um yeah so I mean I I like I said I really appreciate the visual component of it um good work anything

098else of course so uh vice president Estrada I'm glad you highlighted the social emotional thing you know just that is the the one piece I would want to drive home on this and certainly from the teacher's side of it this the teachers that were in the room at the time and the feedback we got this is what we hear over and over and over again when we think about what we were talking earlier about like you know all of this isn't going to happen at the same time I feel like a lot of the teachers would feel like that's needs to be first in order to get to the other two and um I think there's some good things highlighted in the initiatives underneath to kind of parse that out a little bit more in

099detail but just take a second and appreciate that front and center on a district document is probably for the first time in the history of at least the school district most school districts is like admitting out loud in writing that this is something that is crucial to learning is a huge step forward and um it's pretty that that makes me feel like feel good about and like we we spent our time wisely and so having that be like a goal that's a big goal you know you know and we're gonna have to really put some effort into that but uh it's it's exciting to take that step and I think it's really reflective of the community voice back to uh president Lovato's Point earlier that was in the room and the teacher voice that was

100in the room but the very much drove that home so it's good to see it there okay Jason um too I think that's the most exciting part about this um end and the objectives um a gene wonder if there's um some prioritization of them in the order inherently reading like to me um the social emotional learning and the wraparound services leads to our community schools district model that we've really been striving for and quite frankly I think that objective needs to be met in order to meet the first two that are listed but I don't know that it would give it any more prioritization if we move that up I made it first I just that to me was the most exciting part of this section foreign yeah I think we can we can definitely

101move it up to be first and just to to name um what we heard is how do we say to families that we're aiming for 60 proficiency and I thought that was really great feedback that we got from the community we did the math uh and to your point uh we needed to actually we need to grow students in some cases significantly more than 1.5 years growth but we wanted to put that and I think move it up to be first because that is going to get us moving in the right direction I also want to honor the Cadre member who pushed us on this uh Allison's stock up is that did I say her last name correctly Allison she's a social worker and every single session she's like I don't see wraparound Services here

102it's more than just about academics and so she actually helped us craft this goal specifically after our last meeting together so just want to honor her work there one question around the key indicators um I I love that we're um increasing the the opportunities around projects and work based learning but I think like I see those two as being separates and different things and I think we use it kind of interchangeably because I believe and I could be wrong but I think with our work was connected and the academies it is both and so I don't know if it would be beneficial to name out both because they are different things the work base to me is more CTE where we're tying the academic learning to the work and the professional opportunities and project bases

103bringing all these ideas of math and science and English language arts and everything together into one project and to show our student growth differently but I believe that is what those academies are doing right yeah it's being used interchangeably and different documents and in different projects okay we also didn't want to mess with the language there because you all had approved it but we could we can separate it well uh no because you know what we also do not want to do in a strategic plan is to very soon in the process which is after the objectives and key indicators how what we're going to be monitoring to lock ourselves into a program right so we're going to be looking at this type of we're going to be monitoring this how we get there looking

104at the initiatives and then even um strategic action steps to get there is down in the weeds that may or could change at any time based on the needs of the district but that doesn't mean that the priority is changing so that's why probably you know because I know that part of the conversation was you know when to stay broad enough to say this is what we want to monitor uh these are going to be key performance indicators how we get there let's wait to have that conversation let's first nail you know what is it that we want to see so um so that's another reason and part of the conversation why you know specifics programs are not included in the indicators that we want to see and I think that's why we worded it

105that way because our elementaries and middle schools are not going to be the same as our high school like the project-based learning we haven't developed those yet so we're not we don't want to say project-based learning but we're not doing it at the elementary level we're still doing certain things so I think that's why we left it when we worded it I think when we were in that meeting that's why we left it that way and we didn't do it well because well because we're doing it both right so we are doing workbase we're doing Project based but project and that is really focused in our high school we're middle school and Elementary is still kind of work based right now because we haven't developed that program yet for all of them that's what we're

106working on so that's why it could change depending on where you're at so if we put something specific and a parent in Middle School says my kids are not doing this and you said you did it it depends on where they're at as well in our system then I wonder if changing work based for Project based because uh you know that will be part of them part of the work is um you know on in the monitoring is is how do we ensure that all students are receiving experiences that will prepare them for work later on right or for their future but you know this is a strategic plan that even after you know we say okay uh this finalized it's it's ready to go and be printed in a little brochure that it's easy

107for people to understand this is our strategic plan we can change anything whenever we feel is necessary um based on our needs so uh with this conversation if we need to add or change work base for Project based or have both I mean I I think that as long as we understand what is in here why we're putting it in here that's that's this is our document I I love the feedback around making a project-based because I think it is more inclusive of all students in the district I'm happy to make that adjustment we can do it tomorrow that that's an easy adjustment um I did want to I wanted to highlight uh because having heard uh the board's feedback uh in in a recent board meeting we developed initiative 1.6 so I wanted to

108drive your drive your attention in that direction we feel really strongly that if we're going to meet the expectations of the Strategic plan we have to do it in partnership with families we need a district-wide strategy to do that and we need to extend learning to home which means we actually need to work with families to make sure that they know how to support their kids at home through a lot of different activities that are going to happen at school so I wanted to let you know your voices were heard and we got that in there for you because it's important it matters deeply I want to thank you for that uh because that's something I I always mentioned throughout throughout the it's just throughout the years uh the whole child should include us the

109parents uh in my experience my my son's graduating this year uh I don't I don't think I've ever felt included as a parent so thank you so much for for adding that into this strategic then I think something that I wanted to highlight here um that isn't really everywhere but it is kind of sprinkled into the initiatives is the mindset piece I think one of the reasons why we're here in the first place is is mindset not necessarily pointing fingers at anybody or um you know anyone from teachers all the way to the superintendent but really ensuring that when we're talking about giving opportunities to our students that we are shifting our mindsets from deficits to assets from um from fixed mindset to growth mindset not necessarily just as a teacher in terms of am

110I reflective on my own practice but also do I believe that brown and black kids could learn and that my students with IEPs and federal floors can learn um and so I would want to add mindsets to 1.4 in the initiative I'm just thinking about how in order for us to be able to ensure that our students fill that physical and psychological safety that it's us adults that have to provide that and we can't provide that when we have a mindset of certain kids can't learn or you know the deficit that the student does not know English or you know all of those things so as much as we can drive mindset into this work I think um I think the work might be much harder but um I think it has to be addressed

111yeah if I pull back the curtain actually on initiative 1.5 the reason we've included model classrooms in the Adams 14 Community as an initiative is because we want to be able to say to teachers it's possible it's possible here it's possible on this hallway it's possible in seventh grade and we have evidence because this is a classroom in this District so that's why it's on this list so that we can start to get up mindsets and have proof points that it's possible um is that mindset somewhat what is being set in this visions of Excellence is that um something that is going to be developed okay yes great um if I may add we started that work this year with uh the playbook for excellence where uh in the first quarter we hyper focused on

112that culture of Excellence high expectations ensuring that teachers had the time and felt supported to really establish classroom routines and um in in expectations that actually support a vision of Excellence right is not only actually academics it's it's it's feeling that Excellence environment as soon as we walk into any classroom so we had a strong focus on that following um our I want to call it Playbook because it doesn't mean anything to anybody following the guide on on the things that every teacher every administrator every person in the district we're going to be focusing on to support students during that first quarter so everybody was aligning their efforts so I don't know if the the users of that specific users teachers or principals if you want to add anything to to this first piece because

113it goes along with mindset but also ensuring that we have a structure to to monitor that their high expectations in every hallway yes definitely I mean we went from uh unit planning thinking about like the big picture into like individual lesson internalization as well and really like diving deep into specific lessons thinking about how to differentiate to make sure we're meeting all students needs and we do that through our weekly like data team meetings where we're looking at student work seeing what misconceptions they might have and then what reteaching their instructional practices can we Implement to make sure that we are holding all kids accountable to meeting those grade level expectations and uh it's continuing to be a work in progress we're continuing to reflect on our systems uh just to so that we can

114continue to make sure we are creating that vision of Excellence for instruction and then also the culture I mean the social emotional is so important as Jason mentioned we need to establish and model the beliefs that we want to see in our children and it's that can do attitude that we can get better every day and we have the capability to succeed um one one thing that I've been thinking about is something Dr Lydia talked about when introducing this piece um because we have such um support around the scl supports for our students and Rob Brown services how how can we work that into a strategic plan where we're telling our story um I think of a doc meeting that I sat in with Mr Marquez and some amazing students where of course we're tracking

115academic math how how are we capturing and understanding our students needs and how we're addressing them and how are we showing that growth because to me there are stories we hear every day but we're not we're not going to be able to change the narrative or address those basic needs of our students um we can't get to the academic until we do that first I mean I think I'm really excited about what was presented at the state of the school's event because climbing mountains is a struggle and so I think our our goal is actually to bring the strategic planning work into what's already presented and and really be a part of the fourteener uh work because I think that's very compelling it acknowledges how hard kids are going to need to work to hit

116these goals and the adults in the system uh and and let the data speak and tell the story of growth as it happens through these initiatives great and I had similar questions about how are we going to you know I I mean I can definitely think of a few things but but I I do want to see like in this process at some point we we nailed down some metrics by which we are measuring growth yeah for for social emotional things because there's no there's not going to really ever be any actual de facto accountability without data to support it so like what's the FTE that we're dedicating in social emotional support areas what what are the hours that have been spent like do we can we track that over time what are the outcomes

117that we can track you know we we've all been fed this like line of like the only possible thing that is measurable is two plus two equals four right two plus two equals four wrong and we can track that but that's not reality like we can track anything we can track how much time counselors are engaging with students we can track you can track behavioral data you can track how many meetings that we held with parents you know and so what are those going to be like when we talk about 1.6 on here you know family engagement plans and strategies I'd like you know I think we would all like to see some data on that like oh this year we met with 100 families next year we met with 125 next month I want

118to see that move forward and so but but I think along in the process here this is what's going to you know like like we talked about like these are these are Big Picture goals that we're going towards but I think it at some point for sure we're gonna we but I'm glad you put voice to it in the room because it needs to be tracked because that's how we know that we're actually doing something you know because we all need this to work and so that's the accountability piece that I think we're looking for yeah well that and how how do we know if we're succeeding or not or giving our educators the PD and the the supports that they need around that instead of like it's always instruction we know that inheritantly but

119what what are we identifying and where are we allocating those resources can I just because I don't track sorry I was just going to address that during one of the exercises correct me if I'm wrong one of the last exercises I remember is we actually talked at length um about how the how how would we do this and I think the hardest one was this one how do you track how do you measure um the social aspect of it and what do you put in as um the tools what is it that we're going to use so there was conversation already around it I think that people are very focused on it now um something that you had said Jason makes a lot of sense is that it's nice that it's finally eating and writing

120now as opposed to an afterthought so the fact that it's here and people are looking at it is what's important now we just need to figure out what those how we're how we're going to figure out the tracking mechanism to make sure that we are meeting the goal yeah so I want to I want to share what I've heard to make sure I've captured the feedback because to to the point that was just made that's our next step so we're bringing the drivers back together in the next 10 days with the goal of setting benchmarks for year one and for summer because there are things that we're going to have to track on to make sure we're ready to go when kids come back to school but what I've heard from the group uh we

121want to we want to actually prioritize or move the growth goal up from a visual perspective because that is what is most compelling to the Educators here in Adams 14 and it's what matters most for kids because it means we're doing right by the whole child and we're not hyper focused on One content area the second thing I heard is let's get more inclusive in our language so I'm taking that as permission to change board words from work base to Project based so at least in this document when you see it again it will be taken care of um I heard there's a desire to call out the mindset shifts that are needed to make this possible so I'll take that back to the drivers and figure out how we can work that in and

122I think you're going to see it's going to be needed in all of the priorities so just making sure that lives and breathes in this document and then lastly you're interested in seeing the benchmarks particularly related to what Jason named which is our progress with SEL wraparound services but also also community and family engagement do they miss any big feedback and that was amazing I don't know how you survived everything I wrote it down I took a lot of notes that's what we said that's what we made we met and I would say for our family engagement how do we keep our community involved during the summer when we don't have the kids in front of us like what what what kind of events can we have as a district over the summer to keep

123them you know to keep them involved and keep them thing and then what can we do during the school year to help change that mindset for our parents to be able to help and teach them as well so that that's that's my big thing is like talking about family engagement like when you have a you know a parent that's struggling with helping their kid with math how can we help that parent understand that right what can we do as and even that's for us like what what do you need support from us to be able to provide those needs for those parents and those kids so yeah yeah uh one thing I would like to see is specifically some reference or calling out to our community schools effort here that we've launched at Central and

124and that's going to be another way that we can track that you know is how how are we tracking and the progress and the growth through our community school effort at Central and then how are we you know expanding that district-wide because what what's come out of this work is that you know these social emotional and wrap around things are not just important it's Central they're important for every child in absolutely so that's another thing we can track you know progress there look at Key indicators that gray column the last line create customized targeted And Timely supports to ensure academic and social emotional supports are in place for every child so so this is the what the board wants to see Community Schools will be one of the how we get there uh and and

125the next steps that Sarah was talking about is bringing the group together to start looking at uh you know when how do we space now this goals you know in in the next five years right so where do we start in other words uh many of them were going to start at the same time um and in part of that Community engagement uh School engagement that we had a conversation with all principals we will take some time because we have two principles and some staff members and and uh labor being part of this process but now uh a big next step is to engage all principles because they have been somewhat engaged through them but now it's really getting hands dirty internalizing this because the way that I see it we will depend on them

126to be engaged in their own communities because they're going to have differences from one micro Community to another one there's gonna they're gonna be differences in engaging with them also um with the families what metrics would you like to see right because we we tend to go into the academics metrics and the jargon metrics right but what does that mean for families what what kind of things they would like to see so those are next steps and this is an ongoing document um this is this is just a very solid foundation because it includes so many voices here yeah and imagine this is just one goal that we covered yeah so are we gonna do are we we're going to receive the other ones in the Friday updates and then we'll come back so now

127that you know how this works well let me let me be a brutally honest here because I struggled so much when I said well we can do one at a time but the feedback was now all at once or like how are we gonna do that so uh perfect purposefully we didn't send this because you look at all this Excel and I'm like oh my gosh where do I start and uh we didn't want I didn't want to put you through that so now that we understand how to even look at the two documents and what they mean because we can go into the granular how we're going to get there this is not about the how this is what we're getting right the next steps is then identifying how in in an important piece

128is how are we going to hold accountable to you know to each other that it's actually working what we said uh we were going to put because if something is not working I don't care how many times we put in the document we need to tweak it right and but we need to and we need to do it quickly in in a timely manner give enough time for it to work but if we know it's not working let's change it right so those are our upcoming steps so that is just one goal so I'm here to your pleasure uh we can send it and then you can go at your own time through this and next uh study session we take another one um and um and then we continue the conversation this is this

129is a lot of work and um one of the things that I explained last week when I shared it we had a much more I had a much more aggressive timeline but the discussions were so rich and uh they were so genuine and it took so long for even the teams to you know come down to water the needs although since day one we were hearing the same needs but it just needed to be a process to talk about them and really you know come to to a few uh there was a lot of need to just tell their stories and and we wanted to honor that um so it's taken a little longer than my aggressive timeline but this is not to check the box this is actually to build something that will that

130is authentic and genuine and we'll meet the needs so I'm here to your pleasure you tell us how you want to proceed with this because like you said this is this is one and all yeah um I I think we can commit to reading through all of them like if you don't mind including them in the in the Friday updates um and then as far as feedback I I understand that we need to take our time and review all of it but I also hear the urgency and like we want this approved and to start implementing it so um do you guys want to submit feedback to um I think if we get it on Friday we should give you guys feedback okay to YouTube and then you guys get it to them and then

131we can see it on them right okay another idea is we could put this in an uh Google Excel document so that the feedback you can just add it in there so everybody sees the comments nobody has to be compiling anything and uh and as you hear each other's thinking it may generate different you know thoughts like that okay that option okay yeah just to to give your to give you a little guidance uh because it's going to be overwhelming when you open up the the document I would anchor in this image where we just went through the North Star priority we feel as though the next three are really in service to this so I'd actually read this like a waterfall we just went through the most important one and we're going to be

132really excited to share metrics back with you for year one and summer so you can see what those look like and give us feedback and then I would look towards Talent next we know we need to get Talent right to do this really effectively we know we need to ensure that all kids are being served through quality Equity practices that's really going to close the gaps for our subgroups and then lastly as this was the piece about mindset that's going to happen through high expectations so as you're going through the document just keep this order in mind in terms of what we think is most important can we include this could this have it I need my Earth so we'll work on on putting it like the waterfall I love that because it's actually a

133waterfall you start somewhere and then ends and so we'll try to organize it in a document that way so that you just start scrolling down and hopefully that will provide some kind of usually why we did not want to just add this you know for you to figure out how to start reading this because it's we're struggling like how do where do we start actually Tom Luciano and I were like brainstorming how do we help um you know you as a board go through the process in a way that makes sense so thank you for your um flexibility as us we tried this one and we'll bring your feedback back to the drivers uh we haven't we don't have that scheduled job we're working together to get that scheduled the next 10 days so the

134feedback will be received and then we'll share with all of the key players in the next step so you want it within the next 10 days I mean maybe if you want it included there you go yeah so we'll put the deadline so we're not going to wait until Friday uh because today is just Tuesday so the goal will be by by uh tomorrow we'll work on it and send it to you by the end of the day and you put the date you want it done and we'll get it done Dr Larry gets to decide because she's the one we're waiting on to schedule the meeting tells me to go awesome well thank you all for great information great work this is huge undertaking and I so appreciate it um yeah super exciting um

135right now that concludes our study session so um if it's okay I'd like to allow a five minute break and then we'll transition back into the special board meeting and thank you staff for being here yeah yeah thank you guys we appreciate you all filter I wanted I needed to feel my water system before yeah I think we're we're back on guys the red lights on all right everyone thank you for your patience this evening I'd like to call the special meeting of the Adams 14 board of education for Tuesday April 25th 2023 to order uh Ramona roll call please Mr Amador here Ms Estrada Ms Lovato Here Ms Molina here miss Zubia here thank you next on the agenda we have approval of the agenda um I'd like to amend the agenda bets um

136I'd like to remove 3.7 board self-assessments um I think this is very important that we we do this but I also think um we need to develop that evaluation as a board um and agree to what we're evaluating ourselves on before we do that so um I moved to amend the agenda um thank you uh Ramona roll call please Mr Amador aye Ms Estrada aye Ms Lovato I am Ms Molina hi Ms Zubia aye thank you may I have a motion to approve the agenda as amended almost uh excuse me a second yeah or I'll motion to to approve the amended agenda I'll second thank you Ramona roll call please Mr Amador aye Ms Estrada aye Ms Lovato aye Ms Molina aye Ms Zubia aye thank you next on the agenda is a 3.4 Personnel

137actions may have a motion to approve item 3.4 second I'll second Ramona Rocco Mr Amador hi Mrs Estrada aye Ms Lavado aye Is Molina hi thank you next on the agenda is 3.5 approval of purchasing limits and Authority suspension revision for purchases related to 5B as a reminder to our viewing audience 5B was related to the school consolidations um and our strategic uh planning um I will go ahead and put forth emotion and then we can move from there um I'd like to move to approve pursuant to policy BG to temporarily suspend the delegated purchasing Authority in policy DJ dja and allow with immediate immediate effect the superintendent's approval of any single non-budgeted purchase or expenditure for materials equipment services or supplies up to twenty five thousand dollars in addition this recommendation it is recommended

138I'm sorry that the Adams 14 board are all moved that we approve with immediate effect the authorization for the superintendent to approve any single non-budgeted purchase or expenditure for materials equipment services or supplies up to one hundred thousand dollars relating directly to approved the approved 5B plan competitive bid threshold shall be waived for these purchases directly related to the approved 5B plan up to one hundred thousand dollars sorry that was a long convoluted one we're effectively allowing our superintendent up to a hundred thousand dollars related to the plan is there a second and then we can have discussion okay okay um I think for for discussion I I really struggled with this one because I I want to allow our superintendent effects flexibility to get all that I can't even imagine needs to be done

139to accomplish this I I just think I I really want to stress that we need regular updates on this um I'm not saying you know we're purchasing 25 pipes and you gotta I just think we need we need to explain the overall picture because it was such an impactful decision and we haven't spoken about it since it happened so I I just I really want to emphasize that I think we need to make this a very transparent process um members of the board um so um updates because this really is the expectation or the what we're forecasting is that this is going to be true from now and through the summer as we get ready right this is not a um you know even in August or Beyond this is as we get ready um

140to the merging of the of the schools um during the summer right so uh one of my um what we can propose because we were especially worried that we did not have a board meeting in July so we were just worried about all these um but we can bring updates um either on our every two weeks or at the end of the month uh in the updates just to let you know if there's any that went over 25 but it's still under 100 we can we can include it in there in the update so that you have an update of the of the expenses um I don't know if Mario wants to add anything that we are particularly interested in in naming I just know that there's so many construction materials that take so long

141to get um and you know even movers if we're because we're planning on you know helping the teachers you know the packing but also the moving in in that alone for so many teachers uh it's it's it's a lot of these are expenses that we do that we need to add fairly quickly on them um I would like to pass it on to Mario in case there he can he can add anything that will provide some clarity on uh how we're moving forward with this one yes uh good evening Madam president members of the board drurya uh the 5B project as you know consists of six major projects the move of a Harrison to Monaco the mobile restaurant to Hanson and then the creation of the labs at the at the Korean handsome facility which

142are the three projects that are due before the August of 2023 the other three have to do with the the conversion of the elementary is 2K6 or pre-k6 by 2025 and then merging the two middle schools even though those projects those last three projects are out uh out in time they they can begin generating expenses now um things are very expensive today you don't always get them in the timeline that you want and so uh the spirit of this recommendation is for us to have the agility to execute the project the uh the team that executes plan and executes the option 5e means meets every day at 7 30 7 30 to 8 to review the actions of the day before and then plan the actions of the day this happens every day because it's

143the only way that we can make it to August with all those projects uh completed um this is about essentially giving the the superintendent the the the speed of decision making so that we can acquire those services and materials on time to be able to do this project thank you Mr Marquez I I appreciate that and I I totally think that was the intention and that's why I'm inclined to improve it I think um a couple of things one is I know um our Capital fund is um probably overspent at this point and and I just want to make sure we're very aware of where that is um and and also I think the other part of my my push on this is just um I think it's helpful that we we talk about this

144in every meeting like what you know um today we met with uh or this past month we met with Lester Arnold and we talked to the students and it just to understand what's happening was this this huge move is where I was leaning towards not necessarily the money but I think we I do I think we do need to keep a close eye on the money specifically because it's totally year end and I totally get the procurement um delays and and costs like I can't imagine because a lot of it's going to deal with construction items um but I I just want to make sure we're we're being transparent in this process because it is such a huge undertaking absolutely yes uh superintendent and I recently were discussing the the need to create a regular

145report for the board with the major items uh essentially these six projects plus the upk because the universal Pre-K was not named as part of the 5B but it is an essential component of it already so interconnected the business leadership team is meeting on Thursday and one of the things we're going to do is design that report which could include a section of uh foreseeable expenses yeah and that way yes you will get to see it regularly what is it that we see is coming and it allows us to be transparent with our community I mean I I get questions around the testing center and um Swap and all these things that you guys are juggling um I just think the the more transparent and um flexible we can we can all be with this

146whole process together so we're designing these projects right so we should have a a pretty good scope of what it's going to cost because if we're already designing it and building it and costing out everything we should have some numbers because I know when I was part of it in DPS and we were doing you know a six-month job in two months during the summer we knew the costs because it was already built in so we know what we're going to design and change and build and what needs to be done we should have some costs in there that we should know so you know I mean I think for me like I said the money is a thing but it's really just just so we know we should have some kind of budget in

147there that to know where it's going to cost us to do that because that should already have been planned out and built I mean we put in on these sprinkler systems uh elevator system and everything and we already had that planned and paid for by the time summer rolled around so the first day the kids were not in school we had construction on the ground so that I just want to make sure that we're doing that too and not like kind of oh we got something else new or something I want to make sure we have a plan on how we're getting this built yeah the project has been uh controlled via monday.com he has literally hundreds of tasks in there yeah some of the costs are our own uh labor and some are external

148services and materials and so we're gonna let the computer do a lot of those computations for us and when I take that and they make it part of the report to you just to add to your point of the um budget dog during El 1615 spoke about bringing um a different budget for Capital so that that will be included there that was part of the discussion with you anything else board members come on a roll call please Mr Amador aye Mrs Strada aye Ms Lavado aye Miss Molina aye Ms Zubia aye unanimously lots of strength and Liberties because that's a lot uh next on the agenda is 3.6 approval to purchase teachers curriculum institute TCI science curriculum for grades K through five um may I have a motion to um move forward on this without

149one I would like to move that we um deny this um I oh I'll leave it at that until we get a second or if we get a second yeah I would like to move that we deny this purchase of curriculum Square yeah well we could do a we have to do a second discussion or if it if it fails thank you I um for me I I just think this is a huge move um when we just purchased um curriculum like two years ago and I don't see the alignment um for secondary at all um I also just think with all of this going on it's just I I just I've I don't think it's um I don't want to repeat past mistakes where we purchased a bunch of curriculum and resources and it

150went unused um so I'm not saying indefinitely but for me for the upcoming school year which I know we have to decide tonight in order to get it in time and then we have to get you know everything in order for next year it's it's the timing primarily is not right for me um okay so how would you suggest we proceed should I can I move to table this is that okay so so Madam chair I'm sorry madam president whatever only 9 30 at night um so you'll have to withdraw your motion okay it is out of order but uh and even I mean you're you're the chair but the the president but uh it should be made in the affirmative okay so um but you could move to table it so but you can

151go ahead and withdraw your motion the second would have to withdraw and then you could table okay I withdraw my emotion you withdraw your second and so I moved to um table the this agenda item regarding the science curriculum for grades K through five I was going to say I would motion to approve it I think and so I know well right because you said right away I was I'd motion to approve it so as a substitute motion yeah a motion to approve it foreign and the only reason I say that is I think we're working on a on a program that was brought in and I think TCI to move into the six through twelve is a secondary one that we're working with currently as well so we already have TCI in our system

152for our secondary because our kids are working on it secondary so there is a transition there so it will transition into our secondary because it's going to be the same concepts of it um that's what Sheila has said that secondary it does have TCI currently so I I I would want to make sure that our K-12 is aligned and I think if we have two different curriculums with wonders and stuff like that it it may align still but I would think that TCI is um we do have it for our secondary currently we don't have Graw Hill is that incorrect for the high school some of our one thank you thank you madam chair for our secondary schools we do have TCI and then we do have some supplemental pieces for some of our one-off

153classes like forensic science and courses such as sat where we have supplemental materials uh in the event that this item gets tabled we would continue with mystery science uh which would be then rolled out uh for the the continuing for the 23-24 school year thank you for putting that out I didn't realize yeah that's why yeah tci's already in our secondary right right yeah so I that's why I would I would able to approve it so it matches up between all grade levels our motion to approve it to go through all grade levels I just think it's a learning curve for elementary teachers but that's what I said I think our our secretary already works with it so they can help with that transition all right we have a motion and a second Ramona roll

154call please Mr Amador aye Mrs Estrada foreign sorry I should have been thinking during this time um I Miss Molina Miss Zubia all right motion passes um may I say something of course so um I I I will go as a superintendent and um because I I hear the concerns and how difficult this decision is um as Sheila said the implication of we do not move forward with this is uh we're continuing with the current one that we have so we'll revisit this I appreciate you know the approval of this but but know that we will I'm taking at heart the concerns shared and uh I'll do a revisit of all this and keep you posted however thank you all right um with that um that concludes our special meeting May 9th is our regular

155regularly scheduled board meeting and that will begin at 6 30 pm may I have a motion to adjourn emotion please um Mr Amador aye Ms Estrada aye aye Ms Lovato aye Ms Molina Ms Zubia all right thank you everyone we're adjourned 9 29 right here 9 30.
