009things that we have seen both in classrooms and in this school to highlight the learning that teachers engaged in the morning session of the PD for teachers focused on monitoring in the classroom and creating Pathways during instruction to ensure that our teachers are actively up looking and assessing both how students are doing and what they are doing in the classrooms so far in classes we have been able to see teachers begin to develop their monitoring tools for example a seventh grade teacher is using a plus checked and minus key to quickly identify students who are understanding those who might need a little bit more help and those who are not understanding the content yet one of our science teachers is pulling the icann statement and the ican levels from the curriculum and using it to

010identify the level his students are currently performing at and forming intentional small groups from that data that they are pulling we have also seen more teachers up and around in their classrooms taking a more intentional active approach to monitoring what their students are truly understanding in that afternoon session at Adams City Middle School we focused on backwards planning and intentional questioning during lessons we LED teachers through thinking about pulling out High leverage activities and questions that will help students become proficient on exit tickets and unit assessments so far as a coach I have seen teachers become more thoughtful in their planning working to plan backwards from the assessment or that exit ticket and picking questions and activities that truly help students Master their content I want to conclude with some thoughts from a couple of

011our teachers personally our sixth grade math teacher states that the professional development helped me be more intentional in my planning I've been able to really look into the curriculum to pull out problems that get kids to practice and collaborate as a result I've already seen Improvement in my students scores on the exit tickets in that active monitoring has also made me better at adjusting my teachings in the moment rather than after my students have left my classroom a seventh grade teacher stated that he appreciated the monitoring PD because no matter the content we teach the grade we teach or the level of experience we have every teacher could walk out of PD with a couple strategies that we could immediately Implement to help our students so to conclude I want to thank you for continuing

012to support the learning of our Adams 14 staff as it is critical to our Student Success thank you so much for that great update um do you board members do you have any comments or questions I know it's kind of odd because it's public comment but um okay I think it was very helpful to hear the update um I've I think it would be great if we hear a more formal um update on the learnings um because from what I've heard from teachers this last round was very different than previous and then I think it speaks towards our partnership with tntp and just the impact that the changes that you were implementing are making oh we have one more okay thank you um Kristen Gilmore Kearney Middle School teacher hi welcome hi hi um good

013evening board members glad to be here and Dr earlier good good evening um I'm Kristen Gilmore I'm a proud teacher at Kearney Middle School I've been there for 11 years um yeah love to make it a career here our full career in Kearney um I also want to mention that in regards to professional development I have also served as a physical education department lead for about nine maybe 10 years and within since the pandemic um basically for the past two years this has been the first time where the content leaders for for physical education music art the specials and electives I would say for these two years it's been the first time where we actually feel like we're a part of the planning within the district because I could say that prior to the pandemic

014um the the specials and electives were kind of off to the side sadly and so it's nice that we're now collaborating collaboratively part of the discussion and the planning as a whole and something I do want to say is we as specials teachers I've I've heard from others um not just physical education but art music tech it is really nice to get with our content peers on these professional development days because if you think about it Elementary School specials teachers they don't have another content partner within their school they are the only art teacher the only music teacher PE teacher within their school so the only time they ever get to talk to their content peers is on a professional development day so it's been really beneficial to actually get together and talk about our

015content not just about best practices but how is it how do we take what Dr Lauria and the district is pushing down on us we then figure out how does it authentically fit into all of our our contents so I just want to I hope moving forward that the district and our our management organization continues to see value in electives and content electives and specials having that time together that's all I wanted to say to represent the specials and electives teachers thank you thank you so much [Applause] go right ahead uh Christy Douglas thank you so much yes thank you Maria and honorable board members my name is Christy Douglas and I serve Commerce City as a council person and uh I am here tonight in my own behalf and I wasn't going to speak

016tonight but because the board is being recognized I myself really recognize the phenomenal work that you have done and just how hard you have fought for the students in this community to recognize how valuable they are and to to to give them hope and purpose and and uh that needs to be recognized I also wanted to recognize board member Molina's absence she was asked to speak at as a panelist for a group of scientists that have come in from worldwide and to have her be asked to do that that's the only reason that she's missing tonight but she's doing the good work on the environmental level for this community and for her to have been asked to do that needs to be recognized so I wanted everybody to know why she was gone tonight but

017again thank you for all the hard work that you have done and your commitment and dedication to this community is um is very special and we appreciate it thank you thank you so much it's it's very um validating and and I think this is the best board we've ever had so thank you um next on the agenda is superintendent luria's updates um Dr Lydia just um like that one working yes it's working uh Madam president members of the board community members I have a few updates um today first of all I want to share that um we are very excited when I say we is not only me as a superintendent but also our cabinet our teachers our Educators um we have been analyzing data student data and now we have the beginning of the

018school year data student assessment data and middle of the school year student assessment data and we are seeing phenomenal growth in every grade level or most great levels we do have in kindergarten I mean in mathematics we have seen growth in the star from kindergarten through 12 in every grade level as a district and in language arts we saw growth in every great level except first grade we didn't see the growth we wanted to see 9th and 12th grade so we have been digging deep into deeper into the data meeting with principals on Monday we had principals coming here we spent about three hours looking at the data and we are creating alongside with the 90-day plans a very specific 12-week plans on how we're going to be addressing data how we're going to be

019monitoring the students just like it was mentioned you know from our speakers the monitoring and the expectation that we're going to be monitoring student is is is in each one of our roles right not only me as a superintendent but my my team tntp administrators and teachers our Focus us Educators is really looking at how students are responding to instruction and not so much on you know what the teacher may be saying or not this is this is about how the students respond and I just want to say how proud I am of our teachers and of our principals they have really um you know they they have committed to to that vision and um it's the evidence is showing that we are moving the needle by no means this is uh something that we

020feel satisfied of where we are we have a long way to go but the results from beginning to middle of the year are extremely extremely promising as an example this for kindergarten the acadians we had a huge growth in every single School Central Elementary in particular because I know that is one that is near to our heart and we're watching extremely closely um we had a growth from the fall proficiency level in acadians of our students of 40 14 percent three and a half months later in December we saw a growth in proficiency to 73 percent so we went from 14 to 73 percent and that is the result of hard work of our teachers of our administrators of a great huge collaboration between tntp and our team this is one group working for the

021students this for kindergarten ideal in Spanish 51 percent are at or above proficiency and just to mention again Central Elementary because I know you know we're paying close attention everybody's paying close attention to Central the ATL proficiency was eight percent in this um at the beginning of the school year and uh by December three and a half months later it was 40 percent um so incredible growth disregardly star literacy in Spanish 68 of our students um demonstrated a growth at or above typical so we are growing our students we are moving the needle and again it's all because of the hard work of our teachers um this year and you've heard from a teacher today and I am excited to um you know actually use her comment when she said that teachers are being part

022of planning uh one of the things that we experienced this this year in the in by the middle of the year was the the the smallest turnover of teachers that we have had in many years and that in my opinion is a result of acknowledging that our teachers are the Professionals in that we want to hear from them we are putting the expectations out very clearly and then we say how can we make it happen and what do you need and then quite frankly I move out of the way so we have areas of growth and our data we have clear instructional steps that we are taking um in in continue moving forward one of them was meeting with the principles and then to ensure that we continue monitoring closely to students so very excited

023about that data and um and another thing that I wanted to give you an update on well I don't know if there's any questions about that actually I I would just like to commend our our teachers um that's tremendous growth um I think my question would be um are we going to have a formal update on the big middle of the Earth assessment data okay great yes ma'am um any other okay um and then another update I wanted to provide to you is just you will recall in November and December I share with you the need to bring an emergency agenda item at some point to you um Adam City Middle School we started the school year with a a large number of vacancies teacher vacancies um and we working with labor and with the

024teachers there were doubling up of classrooms teachers were giving up their planning time incredible commitment from the staff in there to ensure that the students were having a certified teacher but that resulted also in large number of students sometimes in in the classrooms and as you will recall we started looking into Elevate K-12 which is a company that provides virtual learning or virtual instruction by highly qualified certified instructors that may not be here in Colorado but these are you know teachers in the United States that are highly qualified and certified and we have started in this um second semester with opportunities for students to go back to smaller classrooms a commitment that we had with the teachers in icr coach from acms you know not in one of the commitments was we we're not going

025to have large numbers of students the entire year we knew was something to ensure that our students were getting that instruction but we also know that that we could not sustain you know or expect teachers to sustain their level of energy in high high lesson delivery you know for for too long in under those conditions um so we have started with instructors we have coaches in every classroom that have been trained on how to facilitate and support the virtual instructor I have myself been there several times of starting classrooms the team is uh there on on a daily basis ensuring that it's going and it's happening and and one of the things that I want to say is um you know it or one of the challenges it is change for our students and and

026something that stuns me quite quite Frank because it's it's it has been a a difficult year for our students and that is what we do not want to have so we are already working hard in planning for next year to ensure that um this this or any other school will start the school year with the amount of vacancies that we that that we experienced this year so that is going well and I'm looking at the instructor also shaking our head we have I tell them give me uh you know daily updates of uh of how it's going so um you know I I want to acknowledge once again all the teachers and all the staff at Adam City Middle School and of course the students and for the resiliency and and the parents supporting because

027uh it's it's been it's not been an Easter Road for sure um in the last one about PD um or let me back off a little bit um any questions of course I do I feel like I'm always the one asking I'm sorry um I I um commend the staff and the teachers because I can't imagine the lift that this has been um I think one of my questions is have we looked into or offered any incentive pay um during this time and then my other question is have we looked at some type of um reward system for those students since this is such a different year um maybe if that's something that the board could support or especially like the board liaison Mr Amador um I just I know this has been out of

028the ordinary for everybody um so that that would be my only questions so I could answer that I know that they have a reward program for the kids that they're giving um like Adam City bucks um when they get to like affirmations at lunch that they do for the students um I know that they did we did do incentives for the teachers that were we bought all their time back for when they were working that to do the incentives for them they do have stuff for the kids the incentives for them I'm getting points to be able to do things they have a school dance next for this Friday uh this Friday I think from like 4 30 to something and all the kids it's free to go but it's for all the kids that

029if they haven't got any like in trouble or stuff like that I believe they all get to go um so they are incentivizing those kids and the classrooms um are smaller and they're more focused on the learning level of the kids in the classroom are all the same so you don't have those big gaps so most of the kids are on the same learning level of all the other kids in the classroom I know that from having the students there and then talking to some of the staff as well so yes and Not only was purchase time if they were giving up their planning time but also stipend for taking the added number of students um yeah I just wanted to get clarification on um how communication has gone to parents if there has been

030um concerns around that on how that's been handled um just overall yes um thank you for the question from Madam president um director strata members of the board there has been communication one of the things that I requested from the staff is to ensure that there is um there are different ways in which we can communicate with us with uh parents so uh several emails I um at some point I share that with um with the board if several emails where it was communicated uh feedback that we received and then I passed on to the staff is when there's a lot of information we need to chunk you know the information so so it's it's we cannot expect parents to sit down and read long emails right or or flyers or stuff like that so

031we receive that feedback um and I it was passed to to the staffs to the staff there was also there were also sessions with the students and the teachers had talking points and uh there were explanations in discussions with the students about you know the changes in in why so um so there were some concerns that were brought up by uh parents and I directly connected with those parents because I know this is as I said something that that is close to my heart it's it's um something that that we want to see in you know we're putting those structures in place that we do not you know go through something like this again but uh um yes and and also communication has been uh um or is scheduled to be sent on a weekly

032basis or at least the first few weeks to to give updates on how things are going I know I'm gonna look at the stuff to see if it has been sent yes sir thank you thank you any other questions or comments okay thank you Dr Lydia you had another yes the last one uh professional development um so Miss Sheila Burke if uh he's gonna come up here to share uh my apologies to share a little bit of the um data points of the professional developments um one of the things that I do want to um to share is last time when we had professional development we always survey teachers at the end right to give us their feedback in what we heard loud and clear is that they wanted more differentiation so we work on

033that piece um and there was differentiation we also heard from principles that they would like to have also some time with the teacher so um the morning was as a whole group including differentiation and then they were released to the schools to do their own their own work as well because all schools were different so miss Park thank you president Lovato distinguished members of the board superintendent Maria viewing audience thank you for your time tonight we have a district professional development day each quarter which is aligned to our academic Excellence playbook in that we have a scope and sequence across the district that we put together to be able to help align our work across through that there are specific areas that we focus on on February 3rd um excuse me January 3rd we focused

034on aggressively monitoring students which goes along around our Focus around professional learning communities or plcs so in that we're looking at as we're providing instruction around high quality tier one how are students responding to that how am I as an educator building in checks for understanding and how am I circulating the room to be able to check for individual student progress so I know how to respond to students whether they may have misconceptions whether they may have an opportunity to further their learning because they're understanding the concepts that are being taught which is where the differentiation for our students comes in in that we're aggressively monitoring for ambassadors which is one of the strategies that we're leveraging here in the district that you've often heard superintendent Lauria speaks to So within that we tied all

035of those pieces together and so from now until February when we come back for our next District PD day this is the area that we're going to look at specifically that ties into the professional learning communities and builds upon the high quality tier one lesson internalization that we've already been training our staff on in there at the end of each of our sessions we provide a survey to all of our session participants that includes both of our certified staff our classified staff and any of our one-off physicians whether it's electives RCT instructors Etc and in there we look at those data and the survey results to be able to help inform our upcoming professional development sessions which again is aligned with in our scope and sequence one of the comments that we had is that

036they felt like the time was useful some of the comments that we heard was that they could take the information within the sessions and implement it the very next day so they appreciated that there was time for staff to be able to plan in their sessions time for them to work with their principal and their school-based team and take the information that they were learning and apply it the very next day one of the areas that we still are continuing to work on that we often hear is differentiating for the vast Learners that we have in each of the session groups and so that's something as we move into February 13th District PD day that will continue to work on and then tailoring our needs to be able to meet our paraprofessional classified staff specifically

037both our instructional parents and our special education pairs are the two areas that we're working on we did have um 675 responses from our last survey which is a good sampling size and so we look through every one of those comments to be able to see what are we doing well that we want to replicate for the next and upcoming sessions and what are areas and opportunities that we want to grow in and get better that our staff said that just didn't resonate with them thank you any questions thank you so much for the update um I I think I heard you mention that they were differentiating between the staff and and asking um or seeking their input for the planning of the PD is that extend to I know we had heard from our

038um Liaisons our parent Liaisons are um administrative staff I think that was something we heard and then we um understood that it was happening so I was just wondering if that was yes great thank you so much for the update and lastly just to close this section we have a short video for you hi hello hello we are a student from Adams 14. we have a special message for you we want to say and thank you for always looking out for us thank you for all of your hard work for leading our school gracias thanks for always looking out for us thank you school board members thank you thank you school board members [Applause] [Music] thank you [Applause] thank you for everything to me too oh my goodness how do we continue on after that

039thank you so much um thank you Dr Lydia for the information yeah thank you to our students and our staff and our amazing team um you guys motivate us every day um next on our agenda are consent items good Lord we have 6.1 Personnel action 6.2 approval for overnight field trip to Western Colorado University 6.3 approval to purchase services from homies unidos for Adams City Middle School second semester 6.4 intent to apply for a grant application for the read act elat hitp the acronym is spelled out on board docs 6.5 intent to apply for Grant application for Jed High School Colorado Court 6.6 and 10 to apply for a grant application for school Security disbursement 6.7 approval to purchase services from rlh engineering for asbestos Consulting may I have a motion to approve the consent

040items a motion to approve thank you we'll just make deal with this one I was just going to say so hitp is high impact tutoring program so just wanted to make sure because I have a thing about using acronyms I could have a whole conversation using those and I won't during these meetings because I know that um other people might not understand what we're trying to say so thank you thank you um I think I would just like to point out and especially thank staff for seeking all of these grants I know that was one of our our board goals is to increase the access to the many resources that are out there so thank you for doing that um my second comment will be around homies you need us I've always followed them in

041awe and I'm so thankful that we get to bring that to our Middle School we'd love to see that expanded as soon as possible because I think they do a lot of great things and I'm also especially thankful for the high impact tutoring program um because I think that's that's going to make a huge difference um and without any further discussion Ramona can you conduct roll call please Mr almador aye Ms Estrada aye Ms Lovato aye Ms Zubia aye president might make a comment oh of course um you just approved um the appointment of um our new chief of Human Resources so I would like to ask him to step up um uh Nathan um Dr Bolton uh received his bachelor's degree from Minnesota State University in 1991. his masters from some Houston State University

042in a doctorate from University of Houston he began his career in Education First as a substitute teacher just like me in Minnesota before moving to Texas where he taught middle school math he served in various roles in the Aldine School District a large Urban District in the Houston metropolitan area including director of Technology director of the director and Executive Director of Human Resources before joining Islands 14 actually he joined us in um in July as the Director of Human Resources so he is in-house um so before he joined um last summer he served three years as an assistant superintendent in the Cleveland Independent School District in in Texas one of the five fastest growing schools districts in that state Nathan is an avid traveler and cook in participating annual cook-offs based in scholarships funds for

043students um so Nathan is going to be replacing Dr McKenna but Dr McCann's last day here will be June 30th so he will complete his time here uh we went through a process where Chiefs we looked at all the candidates two candidates came up as finalists and we narrowed it down to uh Dr Bolton so uh the next this semester will be we're going to be overlapping to ensure that everything that is being put in place in HR uh has a strong Foundation to to be sustained and continued so I just wanted you to see your face and uh he's currently supporting not only as a director of HR and will continue but also as a director or um uh the the push for communications uh Communications you will recall we had an executive director

044uh before and right now is under um uh Dr McKenna uh Communications well the two of them are managing it so we are putting a director position it has been posted has been posted in um November and uh he's going to be open until it's filled we want to know and ensure there's the best person for communications and that position will continue being under HR because it's just working very well that way so um thank you Dr Bolton for accepting and we uh we're excited that you will continue with us [Applause] thank you for bringing forward that um Dr McKenna we're so sad to see you go but totally understand and I appreciate that we've hired from within because I've been able to witness the amazing work um I will say again and I I

045know I always say it but I've seen more movement in our HR departments and since you you've both been here then since I've been on the board so thank you so much for your great work and and I'm so happy that that's going to continue moving forward and I'm still going to have to you know say the first task I gave Dr poten although he's not the HR Chief yet is to figure out a positions to ensure that Dr McKenna stays so not of the nature person anymore because we now have one but she will stay thank you thank you so much I forgot I saw how to talk um next up is 7.1 business action items we're moving on sorry approval of the 2023-24 and 20 24 25 student calendar um I believe we

046have a presentation on this or okay yes ma'am Dr Lauria yes uh thank you madam president members of the board I will ask uh our um HR and uh Dr McKenna are you Sheila I'm sorry you're the next one yes and Sheila to come up here and this is a revised calendar or a proposed calendar that we were bringing to you uh for the next two years uh in the past um or let me backtrack a little bit the teacher negotiated contract allows us to have 160 176 days of student contact that that means you know instructional days for our students um about a year before I came on board those uh that um the the student contact days were reduced to 171 days and uh it is my belief as a superintendent and educator

047and we share this belief without labor as well it is important for our students to have the maximum amount of contact days as we can possibly provide so this contract is going to be doing two things I mean contract my apologies this calendar is going to be doing two things not only ensuring that we go back to 176 days so that we can continue offering them and maximizing the time that we can provide to of instruction for students but also we'll be addressing some of the um some of that roller coaster to uh with lack of a better term of um of teacher morale that we see in in research in the nation right so you're going to hear a little bit of that research and how this um this calendar is aiming to address

048that to ensure that our teachers feel supported and they feel um uh you know they they can keep up that need that we that we want them to have so it's burnt thing thank you so good evening Madam president Lovato distinguished members of the board superintendent lorian Beauty audience as as Dr Lydia mentioned my name is Sheila Burke and I'm honored to serve as the chief academic officer I'm here tonight just to be able to provide an overview of the work that our calendar committee completed for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 student calendars that are on the board agenda for tonight foreign the purpose of our calendar committee was to create a student calendar as Dr alert me and Dr Lydia mentioned that meets the needs of our students and both academically and supports our school-based

049staff as we go through the school year right it feels like a whirlwind especially for brand new teachers and so on the slide that's displayed now this kind of helps to describe the roller coaster ride that we go through specifically for staff that are entering right into our profession and so our calendar helps to be able to help mitigate some of those with strategically placed breaks and days off that I'll speak to later in a couple upcoming slides as our calendar committee began their work on the two proposed Calendars our Collective interests were to develop a calendar that one supports our District's transformation efforts and turnaround efforts specifically by leveraging our retention and recruitment efforts that you heard Dr Lydia mention as well as increasing the number of learning days and minutes for our students

050we wanted to be able to maximize those with increasing those for what we previously were to making sure that we were right at the um 176 school days that's allotted in addition we wanted to ensure that our calendar was predictable meaning that we're we recognized for many students that we are their constant for us and that we are Dependable both with the relationships and the check-in with our school-based staff but also with meal services Transportation Etc and so we wanted to be able to strategically place breaks that made it predictable for students and leveraging those times so it didn't feel like we had three days on two days off again a four day week followed by a five-day week and so you'll see that reflected in our calendar around where they're placed and the last

051thing that we wanted to be able to ensure was that we're supporting staff with their professional learning needs so you'll notice in our our calendar so that we have uh District professional days one per quarter that then again align with our academic Excellence Playbook our calendar committee began meeting in August of 2022 and it consisted of both parents from our school communities our doc our district accountability committee members are classified and certified staff both school and District administrators and Department leads specifically from business finance operations human resources and academics uh and then lastly our calendar committee viewed a variety of data sets one of those happens to be included on the slide that's displayed now and one of those was staff absences our committee strategically placed breaks again not only to be able to bring

052consistency to students but also to address the Peaks and the roller coaster ride from the slide that was displayed earlier and some of those Peaks you'll see around the October time frame and so we wanted to be able to bring some relief so that we're helping to support the Recruitment and Retention efforts of our staff and some of the burnout rates that that we know happen at that time of the year uh before I turn it back over to Dr lady I just want to be able to take a moment to publicly thank all of the calendar committee members that came in after hours to be able to work on this with the two proposed calendars that are in front of you today so I want to thank them again but Madam president Lovato Dr

053Lydia this concludes my update around the student calendar thank you so much for that great presentation uh board members questions comments I just appreciate the overall intentionality and thought that went into the planning of it um I like that stakeholders are involved not only from you know District administrators and school administrators but parents and DAC um just an intentionality being an educator I know that October is a really hard month and so um seeing that those intentional breaks are in there everything you said I think um just really speaks to the level of um commitment intentionality organization that we are really pushing forward I appreciate that there's um is this the format that it's going to go out to parents or no Madam president Lovato board members Zubia thank you for the question no this

054format was done internally for us to be able to look at and remove really the human error as you remember this year we had some issues with the dates and their holidays as we had humans counting out those pieces so we've put together a formula with the help of Dr Boughton from HR to be able to put those in and so you can see in front of you the actual dates counting down so the start and end dates didn't change we wanted to be able to make sure that was consistent for our students and maximize the days that we have why we're strategically placing dates so what you have in front of you is the version that shows the actual account dates for your reference in the top Corner the top right corner you'll see

055the number of minutes broken down by a grade span level so Elementary which includes preschool middle school high school the number of hours allocated to those and then the number of days the state department recognizes both the number of hours minutes and the number of days and so we can meet them in both areas to the far right you'll see the number of school days that each of those grades fans have making sure that we're not exceeding the 188 contact days that we have within the master agreement with our certified staff so your contract days or each of them are in here too so thank you yeah because I when I looked at this I'm like um talk about confusing for parents as a parent if I use my parent lens I'd be like I

056have no clue what's going on and the other thing too that was missing here is like all the phone numbers to the schools because I know I find those very helpful especially I don't know um if that has helped over the years to really help with the attendance issue of people not calling in to excuse their kids half the time is just finding that phone number and I knew always to look on the calendar because it was there so when I saw it wasn't I'm like oh that might not help again once um once the calendars have been approved we will put them into a format that is familiar to our district community members so that it's consistent for them this is for internal planning purposes so you can see the number of days and

057how we accounted for all of them I I also wanted to ask I know for a while there um the PD was one of the reasons so I I used to be on the calendar committee for many years and I know um one of the reasonings for the the way it was structured because of meeting the numbers was a lot had to do with the PD and making sure that there was enough PD for teachers and as we heard tonight it's very beneficial to them so I do appreciate that this is in there um and and like I said it's it's good that you've been working with them and asking them as well I know for a while they're even on the committee it didn't it feels interesting because you have a certain amount of

058people because you can't have everybody um obviously you would have you know thousands of versions of the calendar if you asked every employee what they thought but uh just having that representation like director Estrada said and making sure that everybody's voice was heard is important because I know every year is different and the years passed it's been focused on PD for principal um you know directed PD and then there's been focus on PD that's just for um you know like-minded teachers like all the science teachers all this so there's every year there was something so this actually clears it up a little bit better so thank you for them and um oh if I may add one important piece here that I would like to highlight um with having a break in October in another

059in February addressing that roller coaster that's research that has been out there for years right this is not the roller coaster in Adams 14 it's in the nation maybe in the world um we could we have the opportunity now to add 10 instructional days to targeted students because our plan is to be able to provide camps you know fall camp winter camps and uh and have targeted students to come in in that way we're going to be adding 10 or at least eight because if we do a four week Camp during those weeks and four-day Camp we're gonna be adding instructional days to targeted students so that is only possible if we have a number of days together where everybody's off rather than one day here and one day there because there's there's no traction

060that way so I just want to highlight that thank you that was going to be one of my questions was um since we're having additional breaks we'll still provide food service and be for camps I guess so during school practice or activities and coverage okay absolutely um my other question as director Zubia was speaking did we maintain the same number of PD days or increase or decrease that do you know Madam president Lovato thank you for the question we've maintained the same number of PD days that we currently have within this year's calendar so there are four District PD days one per quarter we still have our principal directed time that we utilized at the school base level but we felt like right now this was sufficient to be able to help us meet and

061execute our goals that we're both outlaying from the board and from the district great thank you so much um any other questions comments I think I mentioned was I love the intentionality around providing certain camps for groups of students I'm hoping that it's it's a wide range of supports and services for not only like struggling students but students who might need that extra acceleration um yeah yes that is correct um when we talk about any camps we're not only talking about scaffolding or supporting students who may need that extra push but also ensuring that our our teachers are planning for those that need to be accelerated we cannot forget any of the student groups or performance groups that we have I would like to see like the Arts embedded in there somewhere that is correct

062opportunities for those Hands-On activities that we feel we do not have time anymore because of the number of standards that are in our curriculum um I think another quick comment I know um the district has um gone Leaps and Bounds to um improve our relationship with the City of Commerce City specifically their rec center and I know there's usually some coordination there with our breaks so if I can just ask that we continue that collaboration because they also plan a lot of their activities around the district since they serve our population did we have a different schedule for calendar or for Central sorry yes um the the difference that we had for Central was the added instruction um PD days for teachers um so we'll continue offering that additional five days uh that it's uh

063that was negotiated with with labor as well for added PD for um for Central Elementary yes so they that those days will be the same breaks they will have the same breaks the days will be added at the beginning of the school year so uh they will come five days before every other teacher shows up so that they can have their um their own professional development thank you Miss Burke so we have been asked to um take action um may I have a motion to approve the 2023-24 and 24 25 calendars a second thank you any further discussion uh Ramona roll call please Mr Amador aye Ms Estrada Ms Lovato aye Ms Zubia all right that passes unanimously thank you um next on the agenda is 7.2 approval of Recruitment and Retention incentive uh Dr

064Lydia is there anything that you're you or your staff would like to share regarding this item um yes Madam president members of the board um thank you I will have Dr mechanic come up um and even um Jason this has been a collaborative work um I should say also the item before with um the calendars for the instructional days because these are things that we want to use as a strong recruitment tool to not only attract teachers but also to retain teachers last year we had a retention assigning bonus that will retention and sign-in bonus for teachers and this year we want to ensure that our teachers are early in the school year if you um of course if it's approved [Music] uh realize that how much we recognize their hard work and how much

065we want for them to stay so this would be an incentive that is um for all all employees not only um certified but also classified employees um and in collaboration with our early negotiations in the past you heard this sometimes in May sometimes in July or later but now we want to start doing that early so that can not only use of a retention recruitment tool but also for you to to not get information at the last minute Madam president Madam superintendent trustees beside me on both my right and left are two colleagues that I'm very blessed to work with that are completely in the work and we started talking early about the focus on two big ticket items here to allow us to continue our momentum one is recruitment but even more important than

066recruitment is retention and when we listened to Lynn Wayne and Jason we really wanted to focus more on retention than recruitment so if you look at those amounts it's saying to people early on if approved we want you to stay home in Adams 14 and continue the work and changing the narrative that we're working on right now and so we got together early talked about this often and wanted to make sure that the best teachers the best staff are here in Adams 14 we want to keep them in Adams 14. the second part of that is if approved tonight we could let people know if you want to come to Adams 14 knowing in January 10th that there is an incentive for teachers to come of thirty five hundred dollars we can get the best

067and brightest early and we're not behind Abel there is not an abundance of teachers and so this the sooner that we can put this out there and leverage it and hire them in advance and get them to be home in Adams 14 it will mean a lot to us people say when they're valued appreciated and grow and we appreciate your work in helping us value that and again I just can't say enough about Jason and Wayne and Lynn I'm blessed to work with them not only do they represent of their organizations but they represent and fight for the kiddos that we have in Adams 14. [Music] the past couple years it's been Recruitment and Retention like sky is falling stuff um there is no bigger issue because nothing happens if we don't have folks and

068all of the other issues that we deal with get exacerbated by this issue so this is front and center and so I was really also blessed to have the opportunity to work with a functioning HR department which is very exciting um yeah sorry um it's all right they're not here and so uh doing that we were able to put together you know this this package that you're looking at and also I think we'll be working together for the rest of the year to try to do everything we can with no stone unturned to try to set us up you know having all the buildings function it's it's not a single step it's a process that goes on for months if not years and so uh when Jeff came on I mean we both saw where

069we were at and uh yeah I'm just super excited about everything that's happened since Jeff came on and uh that that's been super positive and I feel a lot better about moving into August 2023 then I did 12 months ago moving into August 2022 so and this is a huge part of it so if if you approve it I uh yeah right on thank you I'm glad to be here and represent uh classified school employees actually on a school bus driving kids to their destination I I wanted to comments so I've been in this role since 99 uh working with the district and I went through our scene literally dozens of HR directors here I want to commend you on the orderly systematic way that you're working at moving the roles and changing roles here

070and allowing us time to get to know each other and them to understand the work that we've been doing because when one would leave in the past that work would just disappear and we'd have to start over so thank you for that any questions um I I would second that I too so appreciate the work that you're all doing um I don't know if you know but we also assign uh board members to each respective Union and we would love to be involved attend your meetings however we can help to create that partnership and also continue things that have been in motion and been discussed but I also in observing other school districts I've heard that it's been helpful um for the board to sit in on those so when we do make decisions such

071as this that impact it we have that additional background information and just understand a little bit better um any other questions comments I would just like to Echo that and I think I got the tail end of it um but really want to thank you Dr McKenna for everything that you're doing you you all as well I think that partnership and collaboration like this um is definitely something that has been needed and I hope will continue thank you madam I agree I I think um I'll Echo something Dr Lydia said where if we had all the money in the world we would pass it over so I appreciate all the negotiations that this took I do want to address something uh Jason that you said um and I think it well it resonates with me

072I think we need to figure out a way to pay our teachers better um there was a another publication where Colorado's dead last and we have been for such a long time and I I don't anticipate that that's going to be addressed on the state level anytime soon I know they're trying but I haven't figured that out yet so if we can do anything to push that within our district I think that would be another um really great retention and recruitment Edition Madam president if I may say something and I feel bad and uh I'd be remiss if I didn't say this but Doug Moss our CFO should be up here as well he is a huge advocate most of the CFOs I work with I've always called CF knows because they're not always there

073Doug Moss is a Class Act and truly does everything that he can to support us and everything that we need to do to finance Kids First in with a limited budget so he's really been supportive in helping us with those tough decisions [Applause] another thing you're seeing it in the calendar in front of you the the Partnerships that have uh been forced over the last year or so results in ways of increasing recruitment and retention in a situation where we can't just throw money in it and um in that calendar I think is hopefully going to be one of those one of those ways and we're going to continue to again no stone unturned and look for ways of addressing this because there is no more daunting you know think business so it's a bit

074huge the partnership between all of us is the only way we're going to get this done I just wanted to say thank you to all of you um and Jason I'm sorry we haven't been able to meet but we have been meeting um just so you know and I know that um director Estrada will be joining us there so thank you and thank you Mr moss and um I just want to mention that he saw some also because he's a Raider fan right I won't get started with that because I already have two Raiders fans that I gotta deal with but yes thank you so so much and thank you for I really appreciate that you've taken the time to come and introduce yourself and and speak today because I think it just helps we

075we understand better and learn more every day thank you all right without any further discussion um may I have a motion I'll second thank you Ramona roll call please Mr almador aye Ms Estrada aye Ms Lovato aye Ms Zubia hi awesome I'm just going to say Madam president this is what happens when you hire the best and get out of the way yeah there you go mic drop not throwing things that brings us to our last uh item for business item for the evening um it is a resolution to commit to policy governance um there are many models a board can choose to govern a district and we've chosen to use John Carver's policy governance framework before this governance model the board operated in a traditional sense where we are involved in many day-to-day types

076of decisions we quickly realized that we the work we were doing as a board was not the most valuable work valuable work and it caused confusion within the district as to how decisions were made and what the right right direction was this governance model is very clear on what the board's Lane is and what the superintendent's lien is and there are policies around all of this specifically four parts to our governance framework which are highlighted in the resolution every year policies within this framework are monitored by the board monitoring includes hard data and parameters that are real and show progress towards our results to me the most important element of our governance framework is the ends or student results we have ends around student achievement this is where the board spends and should spend a

077majority of its time you'll see the board has attended many workshops many conferences many trainings where we go more in depth and truly understand what's best for kids and how to evaluate those things so we're holding our administrators accountable for what's most important and that is student achievement and preparing our students to be ready for a college and whatever path they choose Workforce whatever the beginning of this governance the beauty of this governing governance model is that Adams 14 School District board will be in line to its Community expectations the alignment between the ends policies that are in governance the goals that are addressed in the Strategic plan and the expectations of what the community all Define a single definition of what success is what the community expects what the board monitors and what the

078administrative Team Works on and the Strategic plan all have a line of sight of alignment the community linkage plan is the way we plan out how we are going to meet with community members it's important that we link with them and this is a more formalized process of being able to do so so we're not spending our time linking with staff and administration I'm bugging you guys all the time we have time to be able to spend doing what we should be doing which is talking with the community and advocating for our district we have a five-member board elected by this community who are responsible to the community we call Our Community the owners of the school district and it's essential that we are meeting the expectations of this community the community wants a school

079district that is high achieving and meets the needs of students and that is exactly what the board wants as well School Board governance can affect outcomes for our kids and by adopting this framework we know we are doing the best we can for our students Miss dubia would you please read the resolution thank you so resolution to commit to policy governance whereas the Adams County school district 14 Board of educations the board's job is to represent lead and serve the community and to govern the district by establishing expectations for student achievement results expectations for Quality operational performance and monitoring monitoring actual performance against those expectations and whereas the board wishes to focus on setting the vision and direction of the district providing strategic leadership more than management detail concentrating on the future of the district

080rather than the past or present and providing a clear distinction of board and superintendent roles and whereas the board believes that all voices should be heard especially the community whom it serves and represents and will honor this by hosting Community linkage sessions to gather information and understanding what the community's values are for the students and the district now therefore be it resolved Adams County school district 14 Board of Education commits to adopting the Carver model of policy governance as a framework to clarify their roles and responsibilities empowering and enabling them to govern well and building trusting and respectful relationships with the community it serves and and further therefore be it for the result the board will adopt the framework which includes policies addressing the broadest level of decision making and for distinctive categories one and

081the board's values goals and expectations about the intended effects to be produced the intended recipients of those effects and the intended work cost benefit or priority of the effects two governance process the board's protocols and procedures for how the board governs and monitors itself three board superintendent relationship the operational and contractual decisions the board delegates to the superintendent while monitoring for accountability of the superintendent for executive limitations constraints on the executive authority of the superintendent which establishes the prudence and ethical boundaries within which all operational and contractual decisions take place thank you so much um may I have a motion to adopt the resolution to commit to policy governance thank you um any discussion or comments before we take role so I do with us passing this tonight are we do we have our ends

082are we good with where we were at that is my question because we did already pass something like this to say we were going to move to this um so I just want to make sure that it's not the same thing that we're going to move this and we're going to have more discussions about it right and just sit on it or are we going to prove it and let them do what we've talked about I think the second the latter we we are approving this to officially make a step into this direction and I think it'll start in our next board meeting where we officially approve those ends and and start taking action um I think personally I would like to assure our community that we're going to be very transparent as we do

083this um and then also is timed well because we do need our goals and our strategic plan I believe it's about to be rolled out soon so I I'm I'm presumptuously saying at our February board meeting we're going to have many actions that officially adopt this I think we had also agreed that during this transitional period there would be more of that transparency on our agenda so that the community and everybody knows what um we are talking about when we're talking about um the the new way of governance that we're moving towards what that means so that transition period if you recall we had a conversation about transition period and to have a to have a full disclosure and transparency on our agenda of what that means on a monthly basis so no I agree

084I just want to make sure because we have already passed one of these saying we were going to commit to this so I just want to make sure if we're passing this one again that you know if we are talking about it because we have committed to going to government policies that's why we've been doing so much research on it and the planning in the Retreats so I just I don't have a problem with it I just want to make sure that if we're going to say it that we by February have those done so we can move forward because we've been sitting on it for almost a year um I agree I think what differentiates this resolution is we have identified the model that we're moving forward with and I think we as a

085board have committed to that transparency because at some point um I'm hoping in in February we make that hard stop because as we approve our executive limitations then at that point we need to be able to tell everyone the all of our existing policies now lie under the superintendent and her staff to put forth um so it's going to change a lot like everything from we approved an overnight trip for under consent that's no longer going to come to us it's going to be more of a communication from our superintendent so I I feel like this is a different resolution um okay yeah but I hear what you're saying we've been working on it for a year so if we're going to commit then let's go full yep yeah and I think the only thing

086I wanted to add was literally adding to what both of you have already said around um just the learning curve that this is going to take if you know it took a huge learning curve on us and I just hope that we do unintentional and transparent and great job of um doing the same for the community so that they understand that there are different types of governance models they know the differences like one of the ones that you just alluded to right all the nuances between the way that um discovered continues to government before and now what this gonna what this is going to look like and so um sorry I hope that we do a good job with that right and that's just so they understand the one that we're on now we have

087462 things that we're supposed to monitor as a board I think it's 400 plus that we're supposed to monitor that should be sitting under the superintendent because we there's none of us on here that can name all 400 to you of what we're doing there's policies that are dated from like 1980. so moving to this model will help us stay updated as well to things that need to be changed so the transparency and the staff will be the ones that deal with the change when it comes out from the from the state and they change so stuff that we may not know should be in there should be in there and it's up to the staff to do that not to us so that's why we're moving towards this model that's that's one of the

088transparents like you said to understand there's 460 plus things that we're supposed to monitor that probably we have missed just because there's so much all right any further discussion comments all right Ramona roll call please yeah who made the motion Madam president I believe it was Mrs Estrada and it was second by missoulia thank you thank you hi Miss Zubia hi thank you that passes unanimously and I look forward to implementing this model and um definitely be an intentional and transparent with the entire process new year new um I think it's very fitting um we didn't have it on the agenda but we did have a blessing and a ceremony with group old say it thank you um and I just think we we felt a reset with our board with our staff with our

089community and um it's we're starting off the new year with a good on the Good Foot uh next on the agenda is Board of Education new business request colleagues do we have any new business requests this evening um I would like to put forth one um I know we had talked about it in previous meetings um but I would like to take formal action um we had talked about um how we move Equity forward and having an equity Committee of some sort that constituted that is constituted of a students and teachers and staff um director Zubia I know you went through like two years of training with the diverse and learner-ready equity for teachers and students through the Gemini group it was funded through the Department of Education and the Colorado Education Association um so

090I would like to make a motion that we um contract with the Gemini group to um to move the the equity work forward I think now is a good time to do that um it's emotion so may I have a second second Ramona roll call please yes I um any other new business direct parameter go ahead do we work with them Sheila no I just um we met I met with some people um when we were at one of our conferences in Puerto Rico that I would like to just kind of reach out and get some more informations about stages of learning that we had talked to them and they had some really good ideas to help us I'd just like to see if it's something that would be beneficial for us if we can

091have someone reach out and kind of I'll give you I'll get the contacts for you guys but to reach out and kind of talk to them a little bit about seeing if they can help us or not kind of like we did with some of the other ones that we came from there they didn't get to attend that conference can you tell me what this is I'll brief you on it I have to I have a bunch of stuff at my house on it I just didn't bring it but I have been I wanted to make sure if we hadn't worked with them I wanted to see someone Reach Out them and I'll get them the contacts for that because it was a good they were I spent some time in one of their their

092programs and stuff and it's really good so I'd like to see if they can help us I think they're based out of California even shower video yes thank you so that's not really a motion but you're directing our staff to look into it okay I can do it yeah okay without any further business requests um next on the agenda is Board of Education committee reports um as part of the beginning of a new year and part of our move towards policy governance um we are going to start implementing uh committee reports um each board member sits on many different boards committees and so we are just going to start reporting out to the public the work that we're doing with those um first on the list is Adam's 14 Education Foundation um we have been

093meeting very regularly um one big thing is we are going to be entering um I'm sorry YES scholarship season um I I just want to commend uh the director Dale mingleton um he does outreach with all of our Scholars day in day out um he also um works with both high schools so that we can get information for scholarships coming up um we have our 14 or Fest plans and I'm not going to say the date because it's not on my mind right now but we will be promoting that we have um sponsorship opportunities available now we're accepting silent auction donations um and looking forward to a great uh event um which is our primary fundraising event for scholarships for Adam's 14 students on the list again for area boards um that's where all of

094the area boards meet quarterly so it includes Tri-County Health um the fire departments um U.S Wildlife Reserve we have not met I believe we have a meeting coming up next month so I'll have updates about that um next on the list is C4 Early Childhood Partnership of Adams County um director Molina is on that and director Estrada I don't know if you have an update for that work have they not met I don't yeah okay board director Molina my house okay thank you um classified School Employees Association um I have not had an opportunity to meet with them so I have no update um city council they've been very busy um I think one highlights uh Renee Millard Chacon was just appointed to city council last night for the ward 3 vacancy um and I

095yeah I'll have a better update but there's been so much I highly recommend you go to their um their agenda to catch up on that Commerce City Rotary Club director Zubia so the Rotary Club has been busy last month was our hearts and souls program so we received hundreds upon hundreds of uh names for families and children that needed shoes and socks for the holidays and so the Rotary Club does fundraising all year to be able to support this effort I think we may have spent over twenty thousand dollars in buying shoes and socks for kids in Adams 14 or in Commerce City that needed them I got to go shopping one day and spent all day with lots of these families and their kiddos and it's just it's amazing to see our kids and

096how wonderful they are even as much as they might be struggling or what have you we just have some excellent families and children in this community that I just wish more people would see that but uh yes a very busy month for for rotary one of these days I'm going to have to invite them to come and visit we actually had lunch with all of the Apparently Liaisons in December they invited us here and we got to meet with all of them and went over what our process is for referring these families but we had a very successful month of making sure that we met the needs of some of these families that were referred to us or most of the families that were referred to us so I'll have a better indication I was

097unable to attend last week so we meet every Wednesday and I was unable to attend last week so that I could get a better idea as to what the final number was as to how many kids we serve because some of our rotarians believe it or not are still out there trying to serve some of the families that were out of town and couldn't come by they're still calling and trying to make sure that they kid everybody so yeah it's it's been a wonderful experience working with our rotarians and they're very passionate people about helping our schools and our kiddos here in this the sacrifice that's wonderful thank you next on our committee list is the Commerce City urban renewal Authority I'm the representative for that during last my Knights meeting the Ura approved a

098resolution to enter into agreement with economic and planning systems they're going to complete a study for 72nd Light Rail and RTD Station that's an area of focus coming up during its December meetings the Ura approved an amendment to the Extended Stay contract that's the hotel that's being developed at the mile high Greyhound Park development they also approved an amendment to the intergovernmental loan agreement with the City of Commerce City for the mile high Greyhound Park which effectively reduced the interest rate from 4 to 0.5 percent waived the accrued interest to date and extended the repayment start date um they also or we also received a presentation on the sound Creek Landfill area which is now being referred to as the triangle Logistics Center Metro District um very quickly I would just like to thank our

099board and our staff for pushing to negotiate the terms of the Tiff agreements um because of our Collective voice the district will be in a much better position with regard to this agreement um and let's see next is DAC the district accountability committee um Miss Molina and director Amador do you have any so I went in December um Connie was purple but they um they were looking at they were doing their presentations um and kind of getting ready to present some information to us and then I sat through the uip with them which they presented some different thought process for our community to understand the difference from when we learned math to what they're teaching them now and kind of the process and heard some really good stories from some of the people in there

100so it was really fun to to talk to them and I know they're meeting tomorrow night too which I'll probably be there instead of at our other meeting so I can go and sit with Jack so thank you um Kids First Healthcare Miss Molina is not here so I'll let her give an update next time uh director armador do you have a update for legislative or cassby so in December heck has be we passed um they're going to look at other policies so we passed they're building a committee to go over all of their policies at casby dealing with um uh our data policies I guess that they have to look at and then they did pass some resolutions to um back a lot of legislative that's coming up uh for us and then we're

101also putting a community together for um kind of urban school districts as well as to have everyone as kind of a voice there to looking into um school districts that may not be as big as being able to attend casby virtually over the next couple years but as that is something they're looking into so they're putting something together so that you know they can try and get all I think it's 178 boards voice at the casby the [Music] school district 14 classroom Teachers Association do you have an update no because we didn't not meet in December um our there was a conflict with our schedules usually Jason and I have been meeting regularly but uh yeah there was a conflict and like I said we are going to start inviting director Estrada to join us

102as well so it's that combination of getting everybody scheduled together so totally understandable and and December was the month yeah there's a lot going on um together Colorado uh there's nothing for December um I'll have to reach out to them because I don't think they know I'm part of that so no one's reached out or tried to talk to me and I don't have anyone there really to to connect with to connect with so I've been trying and haven't had any construction that sounds good directors will be able to connect you awesome uh next on the agenda is a gender agenda it's 8.3 other communication from the Board of Education board colleagues are there any other items that you'd like to share this evening um so um once again I I know I sound like

103a broken record but um we're still doing covet vaccines um and flu shots because people seem to think cobit is gone and it's not um so every Sunday at the flea market you'll find me at C15 um and I'm really passionate about making sure that people know that it's available it's free and we want to make sure more people are getting their boosters so that's one and then the other one is um I am fully planning to have a youth Advisory board for Atlanta Community Development that's going to be starting and so if there are any youth or any parents that are interested in having their youth join between the ages of 12 and 18. reach out to me I'd love to have them and get them going as advisors to myself and our community

104so thank you that's awesome and I'll just do a couple reminders of stuff that we have going on that people may not know we do have our community meeting tomorrow for Monaco Hanson and Lester Arnold at the high school that starts at six we have 5 30 with pizza and then we have Doc tomorrow here if you can make it and there's also an event where they are taking I know Adam City Middle School wrestling to go watch the high school wrestle tomorrow as an event so we'll have our kids over there too yes so it's a busy calendar for us first home duel um this is the first time Adam city has had a girls wrestling team and their um just as competitive and doing great things um like our nationally known West uh

105wrestling team um and I believe that starts at 6 45 tomorrow evening so it'll be at Adam City High School as well and then the boys wrestling will have a duel after that [Music] um 649 6 45 yeah a late evening um any other board Communications we have the swap Expo too oh yes it's a Wednesday February 1st two to five atom City High School um I know where Doc and our Sac have been working really hard to get parents involvements if you can please um I don't know get involved it's it's very rewarding it provides you an opportunity to have such a a strong voice with the district um I also believe we have a couple of opinion surveys going around um and I encourage everyone to participate in that I will say I

106think I clicked on it and I it sounds like or it looked like it was a voice feedback so my only question is if if there's a written option as well um just to encourage any and all avenues um um it is a voice recognition so to facilitate listening to the Community just to facilitate for them they can share their opinion they're in English or in Spanish uh in both have you found that the voice ones are garnering more feedback or we have received quite a few uh when it closes I'm going to ask tntp is managing in receiving those and transcribing them um well the computer is for them and um so we'll there's also a survey going around for the group of the Strategic the caterer for the strategic planning and that is

107inviting as well so I will um provide an update once it um I received that from tntb oh yes thank you for reminding me um one of the things I wanted to bring up was um and maybe we wait until director Molina is able to join us um we established the schedule for board meetings and board study sessions for the entire year um and as we're moving to policy governance I would like to have a discussion about whether or not the times are working well the days are working well um how that's working for staff as far as like getting information to us or at the actions that we need to take but more uh timely I think I um have a conflict with the study session scheduled for January 24th so I I think

108I can make it work if we are agreeable to move it to start a little later um I can conduct my meeting virtually so I can be here and be done at 6 30 if we don't mind starting an hour later then scheduled time or we can look at another date I'm good with earning later I think the easiest thing would be just to start later okay awesome then if uh Mr Salazar now it's not working yeah 5 30 if we can start it at 6 30. mm-hmm yes yes I was also alluding to the fact that as board members we were going to have our like a community meeting like I want to do my first Spanish all Spanish meeting with Community um the last week in January so is that appropriate to announce

109now or is that something that we need to request you know be posted I mean how is that going to work I'll let you check my Dr Lydia I think um I think we select the date and then we asked to work with staff on um transmitting that information out that is correct once you confirmed the date and location that you would like to have it or if you need assistance with finding the location we'll work on it then blasted out in with our media exciting yeah that's long overdue I know you guys have been talking about that for a while be constrained him oh yes is that um January 30th oh okay it's like June yeah we have um a joint uh Board of Education and city council meeting anytime there are five Mondays

110in a month and that occurs this January so we do have one scheduled for January 30th um that will be announced I know we're working on the agenda now so board members if you have agenda items please submit them to Miss Lewis and we'll get them added on there um it's going to be there did we decide if it's going to be in person or virtually it's in person okay okay all right um next on the agenda we've reached adjournments um this concludes our agenda for the evening our next meeting is a study session on Tuesday January 24th again an hour later 6 30. um may I have a motion to adjourn a motion to adjourn thank you thank you Ramona roll call please Mr Amador aye Ms Estrada aye Ms Lovato aye Ms Zubia

111hi thank you thank you for joining us this evening we are adjourned
