aye aye Ms Lovato aye Ms Molina hi Ms Zubia aye whereas despite the cultural differences between the world's indigenous peoples they share common challenges to the protection of their rights as distinct peoples they have struggled for recognition of their identities ways of life rights to Heritage which throughout history have been violated whereas in the United States for Generations Federal policies systematically sought to assimilate and displace Native Americans and eradicate eradicate their sovereignty without which they would not have federally recognized claims to their Heritage sites or cultural practices and thereby diminishing their identities or cultures whereas the idea of indigenous people's day was first proposed in 1977 by the International Conference on discrimination against the indigenous public leaders to the United Nations and the United States in 1989 South Dakota became the first state to replace

whereas on December 16 2010 the United States endorsed the United Nations Declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples the Declaration recognizes that indigenous peoples have suffered from historic injustices as a result of inter Alia their colonization and territories and resources whereas on October 8 2021 U.S President Joe Biden signed a proclamation anyone as indigenous people stay becoming the first U.S president to recognize the day as a national Native Americans and other groups protested for decades the celebration of Columbus Day as it is known that the Italian explorer Christopher Columbus as well as other Europeans committed violence against indigenous communities in 2020 Governor Jared Polis signed a law officially abolishing Columbus Day as a holiday in Colorado and replacing it with Francis Javier Cabrini Day celebrated on the first Monday of October whereas Adams County school

district 14 Adams 14 recognizes that the district is built upon the homelands of indigenous peoples Native Americans specifically the Arapaho and mutinations that inhabited the area prior to the arrival of the Europeans whereas Adams 14 understands that the recognition and celebration of indigenous people's day is a critical part of its commitment to diversity equity and inclusion indigenous peoples they recognized as Native Americans and the resilience and contributions to American society throughout history even as they face the simulation discrimination and genocide therefore be it resolved that the Adams 14 Board of Education and the Adams 14 superintendent Proclaim October 10 2022 foreign and Ms Lovato aye Ms Molina aye Ms I thank you um next on the agenda is superintendent lauria's report um Dr Lauria would you like to go ahead yes thank you madam president

members of the board onto the human resources update um and I'm going to be asking our HR team to get up here to share but while they get up I would like to to um share that last week we had a visit at Central Elementary with CDE and today we had the visit with CDE officials at the high school and it was there were these were two great visits they did share evidence of um the work the planning that we have been doing evidence of the culture we visited different classrooms in in the two schools and in both schools they were able to note 95 or higher of student engagement in the lessons and when there was teachers were positively redirecting students we looked at the tasks that students had in front of them they

were all aligned to um to the standards they were supposed to be working on um they noted the smooth passing periods at the high school especially when they have passing periods the sense of urgency the culture itself and all that I I mentioned all that because it does reflect the work that our principles have been you know investing their time in looking at setting up structures in routines that will be the platform for um for deep in rigorous learning and they noticed that CDE so those are things that um today we had one so I just wanted to share a little bit of um of those visits and the evidence that they noted um you know of the work that we have to implement part of our plan so uh very exciting and I'm gonna

ask that Dr McKenna also to share a couple of things you as a board in the community um there are questions about the work of HR and the structures that we are putting in place to ensure that we are going out not only recruiting great teachers recruiting great administrators but also keeping them but at the same time build building a pathway for our own students to become teachers if they want to so there are some great things that Dr McKenna is going to be sharing with you and as you listen to those this is part of the work that we're doing in changing the narrative for our students changing the narrative for our district because great things happen in this district and we are we are determined to share with everybody the great things that

we have in place for our students and our staff so Dr McKenna Madam president Madam superintendent trustees members of the audience uh thank you Dr Lauria for giving me a few minutes I was 14. before we really get into the Recruitment and Retention piece which structures and processes in place generation character were here one of the things that fake gravity to get to the other started the application and never finished it right that was a problem make sure that we're getting Mission critical information that we could leverage for the higher right 357 people that thought I want to be an Amazon couple of people that have started a new application we're at 99.99 have started it now finish our new application also we had to put following all of the focus is on the living

unclear unclear Dr about valleys to compensation system with deciding groups identify outliers in place in place who is leaving you want to we're working on a state survey about why people are staying then the other Dr Bowden has become is the director for secondary schools that means that all of those campuses have somebody that comes in at the conception to one contact person that can support them guide them answer their questions and help them of course you proactive super excited about first thing that Dr Bowden did when he got here here he started collab oracy partnership with all of the universe to stay but we also just got just got your second meeting Colorado school a paraprofessionals are substitute pipeline obviously most importantly are put a and I saw them on the office for apprehension

he's talking about so I was very fortunate to be at the University of Colorado Denver with 13 other people are really ready to be teachers our students were absolutely amazing they were the most represented we were the most represented District in the entire room we've been through first thing with all these kids from all over the station breakout session it was just amazing to watch and suddenly it was like they belong here where I need to be and they and their smiles proud of ours are in charge of our superintendent we're doing everything to make sure that they they know and understand that we're working on a concurrent enrollment and at high school getting college credit a pathway that they get for free on the pathway to become what are the best practices to this

practices but what works out of the box and so we're graduates in this thing from those universities I mentioned or graduating December the so that they think we got 14 see the long-term and short term it's like short-term wins and long term effect over time and then of course we already talked about lives here that's as far as retention we'll make sure you get a copy but we put together a robust mentorship handbook that we've never had that's research based so that that also induction where work s in Adam Sports also it helps it helps of course you can see the the pathways for academies and then last but not least it's okay for three reasons it comes from the war the work so this year of our area and around the state with the

increases that will be certified and classified staff we have to work on right we have to make sure that we know that they know how much we care about them and support them and grow them and then and so that's a big Focus that we have at this point in time is making sure you you will recall last year so depart Ed lacking of was just a huge deficit it was human resources and look at the instructor reorganized within the individuals shouldn't they have that already but last two or three or three those systems were not pleased with the word hard because one of the things that Dr my ten years specific to any body foreign it's like just some time or time or visit our evaluation system but that is personal to make sure

that's done also applaud that when students are so glad the um Nations and institutions that we want here so thank you just one more features more student teachers out there looking for places to go and do their internships we are partnering with LLC in the district and also some of the developers here identity to breed hours to rent or homes with price so if there's any teacher out there and you can have roommates have a low at a low cost because we know that so we want to support them in all at all foreign teacher with us all of them actually having an opportunity to go on site and visit on site we're talking I'm so sorry like she and the conversation that line or processed by that part of summer school yeah they're absolutely

ready do you do you coordinate collaborate or groups like garib Inspire the sports team Education Foundation because I know first Focus right actions with the opportunities our students for going to school there was working with insurance relationship which is really the key on the board we last year had it where we'll go at the end of the week and spend the night in a cottage campus area of the campus this year I'm paying work throughout the year not only during the summer I don't know how many students we have is the students who are the interested specifically becoming teachers these are other groups that support all other areas that we're going to continue working with uh connect and as we really need our students since high school kids and see if they're interested in any

of the careers so that we match them at the universities so that they can visit um you know throughout the high school the district with the most number of students there we go thank you um I'm just hoping that Lester Arnold we have multiple staff participated students go into to ensure that they had a better foreign you got your family on Amazon [Music] and the best of all is that the Colorado Rapids won that night so that was um exciting um and then I just want to um give a shout out to the Adam City High School girls softball team they actually won last weekend this is one of the best seasons they've had in a long time some even say in their lives don't know um but now they're gonna go to the next

level so we wish them the best they're gonna go overnight this weekend to play it's local but it's exciting because you know it's overnight and uh so we're very excited about them and wish them the best and uh those are my um my my updates uh the last thing if I may I just want to give a shout out to our principals and assistant principals this month we're celebrating them and um what we see in our schools the focus on the culture on building a community within the schools ensuring that there are systems in place to support our students and our teachers for a better teaching and learning experience it's phenomenal they're stepping up and becoming better instructional leaders which is what we're looking at in we all have heard how research says a highly

effective principle in every school are Highly Effective Teacher in every classroom is actually the the the the Turning key for success and we're very thankful for their commitment and their work so shout out in kudos to our principals and assistant principals in that conclude my update a little longer than usual it's lots of amazing things any other questions or comments board members thank you uh next on our agenda is audience comments um secretary Zubia had to step out for a moment so I think we'll start with our in person if that's okay um I would like to remind everyone that the the each speaker has a maximum of three minutes for comments concerns or suggestions um and we have one two three comments so we'll start there that's okay um first up is Joel Sanchez

high school still hold the values discipline and both their homework as well as other things the respect for their teachers and their peers it has all been unwavering and these prep values have been installed in our children at University Prep and they're reinforced at home University Prep sets the bar high for our children and gives them the Educational Tools to achieve their goals at a very young age dreams children dreams that children have of what they want to become when they grow up they're nurtured at University Prep with college always being the end goal to achieve that dream our daughter Gracie had the dream of being a trauma surgeon but like most children her dream has now changed to become aerospace engineering she is a senior in high school and in the fall of 2023

she will be declaring her major as an aerospace engineer well [Applause] our other daughter Madison is now a sophomore in high school her dream was becoming a writer she is a freelance writer for The Denver Post and she has the opportunity a two-star online classes with Columbia University an Ivy League school out of New York [Applause] our daughters are both Prime examples of what of what a great Educational Foundation can do for any child University Prep in my opinion and experience is a bright light in each and every Community where they are located and the faculty truly makes a lasting impact on each and every child they have an opportunity to teach it is my hope that my few words as a mother and an active member in the community can shed some personal light

learning organization as you are aware according to the Department of Education in the 2021-22 school year 962 9th through 12th graders who reside in the Adams 14 School District enrolled in a school outside of the district when you vote on our application next month I look forward to a partnership between Adams 14 and be the change to provide families with a high school option a high school option within Adam I'm sorry within Commerce City together let's bring students home sincerely Amanda Gonzalez thank you so much next on our agenda we have consent items uh we have 6.1 Personnel action 6.2 approval to purchase projectors and ceiling mounts for projector refresh at Leicester Arnold High School Adams City Middle School Central and sanvo 6.3 high impact tutoring at the elementary levels for grades two and three

students 6.4 secondary tutoring contract with paper 6.5 approval for overnight field trips for the Adams City High School wrestling team 6.6 approval to install new roof on Service Center building purchase purchasing under Omnia contracts PW 1925 awarded to the Garland company and 6.7 approval to amend the purchase of a public address system may I have a motion to approve the consent agenda items president yes can you put us in recess for about uh a couple of minutes please certainly um do we need a motion in a second okay I could do that do that of your own okay thank you we'll take a brief uh recess is Maria foreign thank you foreign sorry all right thank you all so much for allowing us a little break um our board we have a sick board member

so I just wanted to make sure she's okay and we're just going to continue on I hate to continue on without her but I think we need to continue um recording is on so we are on consent agenda items I think we need a motion to approve the consent agenda items and then a second promotion to approve consent items I'll second thank you um any comments or questions [Music] um Ramona broke up please Mr Amador aye Ms Estrada aye Ms Lovato aye Ms Molina uh she's excused so I think you can next on the agenda is 7.1 approval of the second reading and final adoption of policy IC ICA school year school year calendar um if you remember last month we approved policy IC ICA for an emergency adoption this evening we have the second

reading and final adoption of the policy uh may I have a second to approve the second reading and final adoption of policy IC ICA the school year school calendar or we can accept a second reading and push off the final adoption because I don't know that Miss Molina was able to preview okay so may I have a motion a motion to approve 7.1 thank you second Q any Commerce my rights uh Ramona roll call please hey aye thank you um next on the agenda 7.2 approval of the second reading and final adoption of policy whoops my computer went away policy jldba suicide prevention again this is the second reading of a new policy if this policy is approved this evening a committee will consider several curriculums to bring to the board for our review may

I have a motion to approve the second reading and possibly final adoption of policy jldba suicide prevention motion to approve 7.2 I'll second um any comments questions discussion um I do have a couple of things um I I read through the process and I just think um I think we I I would like to um consider either revisiting it or bringing it for a third reading my reasons behind that are um and and Dr Lydia maybe this is a question maybe it's handled in student handbooks or operational things but I think we not only need to focus on uh Suicide Prevention but we also need to work on Intervention postvention and parental notification involvement re-entry procedures and the impacts to handbooks and and operational things I didn't read that in the current um redlining proposals

but um maybe it's happening in other avenues um that's kind of a question statement I I just I didn't think it was all-encompassing but maybe it didn't have to be as a policy and and it's addressed as um in in the student handbook or other matter yeah I mean I think it would be in more like the operational day-to-day school um I think I we read a little bit about it last time in one of the folders in one of the meetings that I had amazed but it's more like the day-to-day operational yes those would be operational um supports or systems that were put in place to make sure that there is actually um like the example you said like re-entry uh conferences meeting expectations to support the student to support the teachers when a

student is coming back to um to the setting a classroom setting those do not necessarily because they would vary from school to school or you know it's very um specific to the child in the specific needs on the operational part the expectation is that those things are happening when the child comes back or throughout the process it all depends on on the case of the students so that would not be um okay policy it would be operations in in the structures and systems we put in place what your expectation as a board member is that I is a superintendent ensure there's one yeah yes okay thank you maybe if we could get the the copy of those electronically um I just I don't think I had a chance to review those so we can add

those in the um uh Friday updates okay great thank you so much okay so do you want a third reading um no because I think if if the yeah if if it's handled I just wanted to make sure it was addressed somewhere um then I'm good yeah thank you so we have a motion and we have a second um any further discussion questions okay uh Ramona roll call please yes thank you um Mr Amador aye Ms Estrada aye Ms Lovato aye Ms Molina hi I got discombobulated I'll rework my question better next time uh 7.3 is the Kaiser thriving School donation May I have a motion a motion to approve 7.3 [Music] thank you any discussion or questions um I will just make a quick comment I think it's great that we're investing in uh

projectors and and ceiling mounts um I think anything we can do to always improve technology for our students is great so thank you um Ramona roll club please hi thank you next is um 7.4 approval of the 2022-23 school and District unified Improvement plans may have a motion to approve the school and District uip plans as presented a motion to approve 7.4 cute I'll second thank you any uh discussion questions comments uh Ramona roll call please Mr Amador aye Ms Estrada aye Ms Lovato aye Ms Molina hi thank you passions uh 7.5 resolution 2214 to engage the services of cognia um with secretary Zubia out you guys mind if I go ahead and read it um this is a resolution to engage the services of cognia whereas accreditation is a launch pad for school Improvement

and whereas the Cognito accreditation process process examines the whole institution the programs policies practices learning conditions cultural context and the Community State Community of stakeholders to determine how well the parts work together to carry out the school district's vision and whereas accreditation should measure many different aspects of a school or district and not merely student performance cognia's accreditation experience includes both self self-assessment and evaluation from professional evaluators and whereas the district will use a suite of research-based tools and resources aligned with the cognia performance standards all while an experienced leader is on hand to guide the districts through the process to sustain measurable change and whereas cognia accreditation is the designation of quality recognized around the world and accreditation is awarded by the north central Association Commission on accreditation and school Improvement the Northwest accreditation

commission and the southern Association of colleges and school council on accreditation and school Improvement together these organizations have been accrediting institutions for more than 125 years now therefore it be resolved at the Adams County school district 14 Board of Education directs the superintendent and any Adams 14 Personnel at the superintendent's direction to engage with Cognito system accreditation to ensure that the district has one shared vision of continuous Improvement and a Common Language of improvement to increase efficiency and effectiveness adopted and approve this 11th day of October 22. um may have a motion to approve this resolution so I moved oh second I wonder working with them yeah I was really impressed with the presentation um and it's exciting I agree I really appreciated the students focus on this um as well as the different evaluations

that they had I thought that was very refreshing so thank you for bringing this to us all right we have a motion and a second uh Ramona roll call please Mr Amador aye Ms Estrada aye Ms Lovato aye Ms Molina hi thank you uh next on the agenda 77.6 University Prep charter school contracts um may I have a motion I motion to deny the application thank you Madam president it's a contract it's a contract sorry I motion to deny the application the contract um any seconds I'll second any further discussion or questions all right um Ramona may we proceed with roll call Mr Amador aye Mrs Estrada aye Mr Lovato aye Ms Molina aye okay um given that that passes I would like to direct a legal counsel if you would to provide a resolution

um memorializing I can't speak the words vote and to identify our rationale for this vote um we'll consider the resolution in a public meeting that will be noticed I think I think we'll have to terminate on that yes Madam president okay all right um that concludes our business items for this evening next on the agenda we have 8.1 Board of Education new business requests I do have one um actually I have two uh first I would like to ask that we visit a board policy bdfc The Preschool Council okay you you can you can um we'll follow up on this you can follow up on this you're not directed to address the board right now thank you sir you're not directed to address the board thank you it's disappointing but you need to ask for

ACT professional and courteously it's cool so thank you Madam president yes might I step out the way I have Ronnie make sure that we collect of questions thank you do we need a brief recess or are we good or what I'll still step out but you can continue oh okay thank you um what I was going to proceed with is policy bdfc is the Preschool Council oh Miss Lewis b as in boy d as in dog FC um it's it's very outdated I think we need to update it to include participation um to include um organizations like epac um groups such as Charter Schools or otherwise that would like to um impact Early Childhood especially given um the universal preschool bill so I would like to bring that forward and ask that we discussed that

at a future dates um I also have the opportunity to meet with students at Adam City High School and our other policy jib which is the student Board of Education I would like to bring that forward for a discussion and reconstituting as well um what I heard from a lot of the students is the formality of an actual Board of Education where only one or two students were allowed to interact with the board um didn't work well for them and I would like to possibly bring forward another board policy which is BDF the advisory committee I think we I would like to revisit creating like a student committee where the board can meet with a larger group of students to not only inform policy but just um have a continuous conversation with them throughout the

year so that would in fact impact both of those policies because we would have to make a motion to create such an Advisory board but it might be taken care of if we just reevaluate and reconstitute the student Board of Education policy um I think those were my only two items that I wanted to bring up I did um oh the next one will be board member Communications so I'll save that one um did any other board members have any new business requests or new business items that they'd like to bring forward or talk about I think um having some information for us as a board and as a school Community around um the school to prison pipeline so we can start to look at what type of programming we want in our district in

terms of restorative justice approaches and just looking at different data points and seeing how the decisions that we make as a board either contribute to the to the prison to the school-to-prison pipeline or don't and so I would like to um to have some information some presenters some community members um some non-profit organizations possibly to come in and um talk to us about that that's a great idea um Dr Lydia perhaps we could talk about including that in our next study session I think we were going to have some discussion around security and discipline I know that doesn't give you a lot of time to arrange that but maybe we can bring for forward some of that great would this be where I would ask to like maybe see some of the uh something that's

out there that may change instead of having that kind of security at the school something that we can Implement that would still allow that to be there but you know maybe look at other options of not having the police in there but having a system set up that would help our help them to be able to get there if we needed them but not always have them present and you know vice versa with stuff that we can look at for you know something like especially for our coaches at Adam City for like that would be able to implement maybe the police medical as well you know that we already have the fire everywhere that we see but to implement those that they can Implement to the system that we already currently hold so that if

we do have a medical emergency on the football field we can get that there without having to make a call without having to run around and maybe look at something that they can provide for that too like some someone that could provide us with that that would be amazing yes great great ideas any other new business items uh next on the agenda is 8.2 board member Communications updates or information you'd like to know next week is parent-teacher conferences at all the schools um I liked what we did last year and I was wondering if we can somehow Implement that again as a board to where we went to some of the schools and made ourselves present so if parents did have questions or something they could talk to us or at least Microsoft present in

the community I know I think it's four days next week but we've done that before so I was just wondering if it would be something that everyone else would like to I love that idea um other board members have that okay great yeah Ramona do you mind working with us um to ensure that we get scheduled to have representation of the schools for conferences next week great yes Madam president thank you that's awesome great timing um and along those lines 8.3 um we do need to review the board member assignments for the upcoming school year [Music] um so um the first one is the Adams 14 Education Foundation I've had the honor of serving on that and would love to continue to do so if there's no objections to that um does that sound good

yep um District accountability committee um right now we have Miss Estrada and Mr Amador um Miss Molina you have interests yeah okay uh Mrs Trotter Mr amateur do either of you I want I just have to do something else okay on the list okay and I'll stay at the alternate if she can't make it she can let me know and I'll I'll attend since I've been there before so I know when it is but I'll be the alternate on there still okay okay um we have the Commerce City Community Center um commonly known as C4 now with the administration building uh opening up for a little more um I would like to make sure that we have a representation by the school district on that I think right now they meet pretty much quarterly um

I can get more information on that but they're typically like on a Tuesday in the middle of the day um around lunchtime um yeah they have virtual options I would be um I don't know if anybody else wants to take that [Laughter] uh Commerce City Community Center um it's the C4 like um The Early Childhood partnership and um all of the like community service based organizations that are there meet regularly yeah I can I can do that okay that would be awesome so uh Ramona we have Mrs strata taking that um Commerce City Council right now um that is me and I would love to continue doing so um would also love an alternates I could be your alternate okay I'll take the Commerce City city consultant that's fine thank you Mr Amador um next

up we have the kids first Health Center or Healthcare um right now I'm the alternate um but we do need um a primary person that could be there they meet the third Tuesday of every month at 8 30 a.m here in ESF it's kind of hard during the day yeah I will too because of work kind of like 9 30 to something but it's still in person and okay I would check on the virtual options and then see if one of us can make it yeah that'd be can we just need more information yeah maybe uh Ramona do you mind getting more information and maybe seeing if we can alternate I know it's hard for us to miss work um but maybe if we kind of split it um yeah something like that great thank

you so much um next is area boards um right now I serve on that and Mr Amador is the alternate um I really have developed some great relationships there and would love to continue serving if that's okay um Mr Amador would you like to continue as the ultimate or yeah okay um Commerce City rotary is musubi I know she enjoys that work um so if it's okay we'll we'll leave that um I am kind of thinly spread is anyone interested and it's being the alternate they do meet every Wednesday um from 12 to 1 30. the area boards or Commerce City rotary I'm sorry um I can continue serving as an alternate I I don't think missoulia asks for me to step in once yet like she's been there pretty consistently um so we can

leave that as is um next is the Early Childhood Partnership of Adams County also known as ecpac they meet on the third Thursday of every month oh I apologize yes thank you I skipped that one Commerce City urban renewal Authority I had the pleasure of attending the last two meetings and would continue would love to continue um Miss Molina you you showed an interest as well yeah no this one's like appointment to the board okay yeah um yeah if it's if it's okay I would love to continue okay um now we have Early Childhood Partnership of Adams County um they do have a virtual option they meet the third Thursday of every month um we would need um a liaison there as well as an alternate the third the third Thursday I can be the

alternate okay that would be great so Ramona we have Miss Molina and then Mrs Estrada is the alternate awesome and I'll stay as casby oh yes you are our delegate which we do need to add um okay um another one I would like us to consider um we've met with two together Colorado a number of times um they've asked for board representation as well um I think unfortunately their next meeting is when we have our Retreats scheduled um but I'm sure Oscar would be more than willing to meet with us separately but if I could please ask for a representative for that as well as an alternate um and not really an alternate I think they would appreciate to board Representatives when is it um they typically meet the last Thursday of the month and

it's like that 5 30 or yeah it's after I could be on that our lady mother of the church usually yeah I can I can do it awesome um I would be happy to as well serve with you if no one else has any interest um together Colorado it's one that I would like to add on here just to make sure we keep that connection okay yeah um maybe if you would be interested I I know they have a high Spanish speaking group so I think it would be great if you if you don't mind okay okay I'll step back from that one then okay thank you guys um next we have schools so um I I don't want to run through the whole list you guys want to um keep anything I know I

like to offer a director Molina an opportunity to um I would like to yes got it I am I was just wondering and I know [Music] um I was just wondering and I have been thinking about um just the way we run as a board and seeing that when board members in Commerce City run they run at large and so I know that there are specific people for specific schools but my question and and could be something that we um you know we can table or um or not but I was thinking more along the lines of um not being necessarily attached to a certain school um so that if we did want to see a different school or I know that you know we can if we you know go through the the proper

protocol but I'm just wondering um if an option would be for us not to be attached to a school specifically or what the reasoning behind that is I think the reasoning behind it is so if they do need to reach out to someone they have a face that they they know that they can reach out to you so it's not like a general email to all of us if they're they have a point of contact um if there is an emergency or something that they need to bring up I think and I think it'd be it's helpful because if we just pick certain schools sometimes certain schools will get more visits than others Maybe and it just kind of helps us be able to make sure all schools are involved so we're not missing schools

out there I think that would that would be my reasoning behind it I mean I I don't mind the fact like if we don't have them and we can go to the schools that we're at um you know just to make sure that we're not missing every school or we're not missing certain schools I think I I think for me as we move um further down the line of becoming a policy governing board um for me it gives us an opportunity to have two dedicated board members without violating the Sunshine Law or anything like that but to be able to build those relationships with the students and and the administrators of the school and the teachers um because then my hope is as we adopt policy governance and and better policies as to how we

report back to the group then it allows those two board members to inform the rest of the board about things that are happening on a closer level but I think we do need to set those parameters the expectations so maybe we could talk about that during their retreatism and it can possibly be you know every one or two years we rotate schools or something like that because I know that I've been attached to my schools you know since I got appointed and I mean I've been there but I would also like to see other schools and well and it never preclude you from doing that as board members you always have the opportunity to to go with any schools um I think it also allows those board members that are assigned to those schools to

be able to know like I appreciate like when you copy me and say hey I'm gonna you know visit these schools on these days um because then it allows us to be in the know and have those conversations when we go into the schools as well yeah so do we want to talk about this then at our retreat um yeah I think the responsibilities but I think we should um since we're already a couple of months into a new school year I would like to have um the two board assignments we have five schools do you want to be the alternate on all five I'm just kidding well you know like I think we need to I would even be open to like switching schools right so that yeah she has an opportunity to be

the primary board member to certain schools that so I'm wondering like do we do that now or should we just do that during the retreat I I think during the retreat if that's okay uh and there's legal counsel um are we okay tabling the assignments because we can even put a deadline let's do that foreign and just know that all of our schools are always welcome to reach out to the to our board members and like you said that would be something for us coming up next week if we just want to visit you know if there's certain ones that you want to visit let's just let us know you have a list of who's there and if there's someone not there if I mean think what we did last year I went to two

elementary schools in the two middle schools the opposite nights so we were able to get all the schools to at least have one night of someone being there on the board so it's at least if parents are there and they can see us in the public either so and I think I went to like eight open houses at the beginning of the year this year already so yeah I think it's just it's helpful to um be available I know the feedback I got from parents was and students um they like questions about what's going on yeah yeah okay Ramona will work with us to get that covered for next week thank you and a president do you want to move to table with them yeah um for the school assignments anyway great um do we

need a motion to do so yes okay may I have a motion to table um until our next board meeting so moved thank you second thank you uh Ramona roll call please Mr Amador aye Ms Estrada aye Ms Lovato aye Ms Molina hi thank you with no further business we've had a long night oh I'm sorry just the school board assignments to vote on what we proposed for the other assignments on the uh the Committees so the question is is with director Zubia gone do you want to take that boat right now very true maybe I think we can we have a motion to table the entire um agenda item that's a great point okay thank you for that question may I have a motion to table um 8.2 board member communication or 8.3 uh
