001families to serve the central core conversation community sorry [Music] if I get too close it's too loud so um I guess we're first here we passed the resolution to open the application that we did set a condition um contract negotiation the application is approved for negotiations of a chartered contract for one school survey so it's PKA three two kindergarten in year one plus an additional grade level each year thereafter until development upon execution instead of contract otherwise we recognize that there hasn't been a born resolution modifying the season foreign [Music] your skills scheduled for this I mean for me 20 for me school year right yeah our goal is in Fallout 23 minutes sorry I should be really clear what we was written in the contract as it currently stands is in essence says that

002on the enrollment section you could still launch the school with K homie but by year two operation there needs to be a Pre-K operation so that was a discussion at the district level with District leaders w14 saying what we recognize there's challenges of getting an EC launch that are unique and you promise that you have an EC program so you want to deliver on that promise and also need a new reasonable given you know part of the challenge here is the contract as of March of 2022 we agreed that we have a contract by June 20th we don't have we're not we're not there yet that's okay and so as timelines get tighter right you think that was more challenging to meet the deadline so to have that buffer which doesn't mean it's not happening

003and according to the contraction Lane you would have to happen by year two but there can be a revocation of the chart so you always have the district oversee and authorizing our school you have absolutely perfect we agree with them for ourselves accountants I also would also want to be fair and reasonable because when I think about an EC program for a year and director Studio do you think there should be a few other board members think there's a different language in the contract quartets of that component of the charter resume it's a promise we're going to deliver blame is that discussion we just want to have it in an excellent fashion because the longer people go the harder it becomes right there's not at least you don't start construction not Construction [Music] board approves

004the contracts and you have failed to secure facility would have been less students uh out of the district to possibly do the website in Denver yeah absolutely not zero no the contract used for the coup that actually we fail to get a facility in a certain timeline condition that we you don't have to allow us to open actually which is Harsh and challenging but real so it doesn't mean we get to take kids we've recruited in fact another part of the contract it was really fun for me to be you got a chance to do it there's 55 pages in contract with 18 attachments and my wife really enjoyed taking care of Samuel long I was like honey I've got a contract here okay um it's really clear on the conditions for facility acquisition and

005that you can actually start recruiting kids until that's that part is done so you have to show a pathway to facilities that I think starts in November now it's your and then there's a final lease and it's searching for your lot you can see it needs to be required to contract issue when you talk about the resolution that including conditions there are conditions to be created the team created a set of conditions and I see the team like new prep leaders and average 14 leaders I think are pretty intentional but also Fair which is helpful so you want the simple answer but no I take children around school team to you perhaps in our neighboring District the goal of coming years to increase your enrollments about damage with the dealership so that would be oppositional

006cavity that we promise when we proposed the school in December of and we don't need the condition of a facility we won't start first there's a sequence of what enrollment can happen because she believes thank you um I have a quick question about um interesting to the timelines can you tell me a little bit about your thinking as towards capacity because of some understanding you want to start with so then the following year would you be considering Pre-K and second grade at the same time because you're going to have first graders that are going to be moving up at the same time yeah sorry let me describe two two potential Pathways they're the only two Pathways that need to contract development of breaking the contract in which case you have revocation rights all kinds of

007Pathways so to go forward not when anyone doesn't want I think we all want great success increasing enrollment increase quality new options um so one is the ideal state in which our licensure for pre-k times out the default 23 opening and we open with pre-k3 and pk4 as well as kindergarten so we got three year olds with four year olds and in the next full year we had first grade in the kindergarteners naturally rise to First following seriously or the first grader by the second and that's exactly what we proposed in the original application and that's the ideal state of how things plan the alternative option we could still meet the contract is EC is not licensed in times maybe that's a facility lag a lack of a licensure Department of the state whatever the

008reason we'd open with just K those K's become first and in that second year while the kids are becoming first graders we have K and one I think EC is out and so that's okay because the ECS then become kindergarteners that become first graders so the same process but BC would either be part of the start and 23 AC and K grow up in a lot of time or EC is delayed by you here still meeting contractual obligation kindergarten starts in year two ECE is added in first grade there as well there's only two Pathways currently in the contractual language that's written that make us liable against the standards we established which we think is fair and appropriate given what we say we do we have proposals is that do they answer the question um

009so so with that plan because it sounds like the contract negotiation for there was no chance I don't believe that to be true you're cute I think we were pretty confident with the June 28th science contractors when you thought we were unexpected to do we had 21 meetings over three months 50 hours of work Sheila and Mario and Erica and pal and lasers it wasn't like a we had a meeting it was like 21 meetings and 15 hours of work by senior leaders at sea level of both organizations so we're pretty confident that contract now the question is when you have a contracts within October you start construction November that's really different than starting construction let's say September um so I think your probability goes down unfortunately because of the time of the time it

010doesn't mean but we're still going after it done we're we're all in on getting Pre-K ate fall we didn't delay the hiring of our team we're paying Alexandria's full salary this year to get the licensure done we're hiring currently Pre-K teachers to spend a year with us so we've already been hired to be ready to be the founding creepy teacher so nothing about our actions to be clear whether it's facility acquisition having the dollars ready for the renovation how do you plans ready kind of before permits are pulled you may want to be ready to go like shovels are digging right so we have everything in order having folks hired on the facility fund we have three different companies we're all in on the investment people property I mean it is a big lift and

011we are we are all in doing everything we also meet the requirements while having an unknown contract so I hope that demonstrates kind of like the nation we have because we want to timeline that we originally saved which in the fall 23 you've got tuition for your Pre-K seats full day and you're gonna have KC's open if that's what you said worst case scenario we think is important contracts and what does happen if something's delayed it must be reasonably that that that's all I think we wanted to establish is start because you don't want contracts to be so binary more complex work especially when you have the variable facility acquisition facility construction and the new Department of State level you didn't have those variables and I discussed it differently as amongst our group but it

012felt like a quite a reasonable compromise to a healthy contract sorry doug because I didn't have time to connect um you you repeat repeatedly have mentioned the new development of the music agency for early childhood but it's it's not it's a new agency but it's not new statute it's not new College because it's not have you all as a group reach out to them to kind of dig in the time to see like okay that's a truly fair question and can you write the statute of things like the requirements for what I need to address the dealership eventually six months uh where it needs to be a director of large Center program has changed so there's actually a number of guaranteed policy changes which are going to be helpful I actually think they create one

013funnels more opportunities um we are talking at least voice Department about how can we get some level of your approval and insight into plan themselves so the facilities constructing around wondering on the back end we're going to walk into we can actually get your voice on the front end of design to make sure there's nothing we're missing so you can get a DOT our eyes and cross our T's early in the process which might expedite things in the later stages um and then Alexandra could speak more detailing to them so we have to have a project plan this goes on every aspect of what needs to happen business and things like that and it was done this work there's Hangouts that you don't anticipate which is really unfortunate but I know Alexandra can speak specific

014project plan that's tied to make you license your acquisition yeah so you're exact ly don't anticipate that there will be a lot of changes to the time because it's about 90 days um I think the question is more around making sure all of our teachers credentialing is done and background checks because a lot of that is very very delayed at the state level right now we want to make sure all of that is done um and not only like we're also having like very very high quality it's not like our bar is really high we've already started that process as we've been shared um we already have one Pre-K teacher hired we already have a visual arts teacher hired so we've started that process and so I think talking about like changes in the state

015of potential so these are kind of those you know it took like six months from my last background check to get clear just because of the background right so making sure we have time built in for that um but I do anticipate that you can get a licensure application once it's submitted through the state in that 90 days um but within that 90 days they do a building inspection from that permit and all of that um on the back end and so it's really important that we can secure that facility with the contract as soon as possible so that that's not delayed too much but it's our hope right now and our project plan is to have that final licensure inspection by the end of February so that we if there are any hiccups we

016have time to get it fixed bar before we be enrolling students yeah the president with about two minutes left all um [Music] I I guess my question is like the site why would there seem to be the way on the site like trying to find a site because like I said like what you're talking about is you were pregnant and we're still not a site that was found or have been secured yet which my concern is is it takes a lot of time we pretend that I mean and to get the credentials that you're talking about seeing construction and construction is backed up and you're looking at like a six month Out Inspections I mean so that's my question is it's like we knew that this was coming I mean I guess my concern is

017is you know what products does not sound like it's gonna be feasible even if you can get it because of how long the police are for everything else that's out there I mean that's that's just my question and yeah I know it's really it's really a fair question I'd appreciate it you started the site hunting priority even submitting the application I think the challenge is you don't sign a lease until you have a contract and so even if you have the site done no one will sign a lease with you until they know your authorize you as a signed contract so we can say hey it's a done deal yes we have an improved school she's like you won't get a loan for doing the renovation work without a signed contract so we believe that

018a target one you've already put aside 1.5 to 2 million dollars that's done so then it becomes about getting the least Secretary of the project so we've done all the free work we can do prior to actually executing dollars being spent renovation being done which we believe can be done in a fiscal year starting July 1. now if the contract didn't get signed between June 28 which is the anticipation based on our email exchange in March of 2021 and we're not talking about the full build of a school for like a 40 000 square foot facility we're simply talking about Pre-K classes which can be done in the 12 months before the classrooms 16 kids so the scope of the project the timeline at that time secretly appropriate to us now we're in a crunch

019time that's not a bad news we're still going all in doing everything we can to make sure you hit that despite the tight timeline he gets so it's not that you sat by and hopefully find a facility we went all in on it we got to get deals done you got to get leases signed and you can't get assigned these without a signed contract so I think there's a chicken and an aid problem to some extent and we want the contract also to be one in which it was highly collaborative which is why we did 21 millions and 50 hours of work because we wanted k-14 as the authorizer you practice the school to be integrated connected and harder and feel really confident about how we were going to proceed forward we were parallel searching

020for site within conversating to director William disappointed earlier is this going to be within our district 100 yes right like projects do sometimes so we have multiple site opportunities multiple Pathways forward we hired the folks falling advanced we've kind of gone as fast as we can um and it's still probably perfect against why aren't even having contract in hand always done in good faith right because we believe a contract's coming so we're gonna invest the dollar we're gonna hire need we're gonna hire our deliverance they're all high they're all paid for the work they're currently doing and there's no contract yet if you understand why there's a delay that's fine that's fine but I think we can just fast as we can and we'll move faster if necessary and or something you need to contract

021that shows What's Happening by the monthly cadency for confident about the timeline of our work on any aspect of it I think we can also make that into the contract so you feel really comfortable with what's happening what's it happening and feel connected to what's going on in the cloud and Alignment to the promises you want to see that questions foreign specific questions about site acquisition and who we're working with on renovation plans and making sure that you Consulting requirements in any aspect of that for the dollars and cents tied to it how is your man and don't be fooled by the British accent which is an honest person [Music] yeah sorry sorry I was I was just asking if it was all right if we um thank you for the questions uh we're looking

022at two sites currently uh one is the charge of competitive uh which is on 64. uh the second is uh we're talking to the Boys and Girls Club uh um thank you foreign October 11th so if you have any further questions or concerns that you've like haven't been addressed tonight bill or myself anyone can get back to you in a really timely fashion um talk further in detail about certain aspects a revision of the contract you feel is necessary we're open to that for us it's about meeting the market making sure honestly would do which requires a contract to be signed so we could just deeply appreciate that making sure you are addressing your concerns versus you signing a contract and having concerns on the fact that that's never a good way to start a

023deal so this is really important as to get it right and to get it right with you um will allow a little transition time um we'll see you next time the agenda um thank you thank you yes thank you so much thank you so much for joining us um absolutely my name is the City of Commerce City and I joined the city um about a month and a half ago to lead the effort within the five urban renewal districts that are within the City of Commerce City the one that I'm here to talk tonight about um is the mile high Greyhound Park which is a lot more than here as a lot of you apply to familiar there's some residential construction on building that area right now my purpose tonight is to uh lay out

024the uh the intergovernmental agreement that was executed between the board and the authority back in 2018 for the new members this will probably be new information to you so members have been here for a couple years this is probably just an update on what's happening at the project I will give you an update we have been meeting with staff from Adams 14 and talking about uh two areas in particular one is a multicultural building that we had in 2018 originally talked about partners with ads 14 to occupy and also a donation by the developer Dell westbing on 330 000 that I understand no longer meets the needs of the Adams 14 so whatever thoughts you had for that I can certainly put that back to the the group that donated that and get it organized

025so that you can use that on something that makes more sense for the needs of if you don't even have your students so again the purpose is simply to give an update on the project it was originally executed in 2018 as part of that intergovernmental agreement there was a caveat that the developer would contribute 330 000 to Adam's working to allow for the addition of modular classrooms at the Central Elementary and also there is a caveat about that the school board and the CC Ura would work in collaboration to come up with the design elements for a building that's up to 60 000 square feet and at the time the needs of absent working occupy uh 15 000 square feet of that there's been a lot of different ideas floated around about whether the certificate

026based or based on technology or whether it's culinary and understand over the last years and some of your needs have changed you've made Investments feedback on on the partnership right here the area that circled in yellow or the non-residential portions of the project that the Multicultural building is scheduled to go and the balance of the site is residential with the exception of the Sun or closing growth club which is in the bottom right side of the street this is the preferred site plan for the area of the non-residential development this was brought to the Commerce City urban renewal Authority earlier this year identified as the the preferred cycling the blue building is the building they'll be talking about um building there's about 45 000 square feet of retail anticipated on the site of gold that

027could be used for conferences of course it builds kitchen or other kind of multi-purpose that would be private and economic based and a hotel which the city Ura is anticipated to transact November this year for a private hotel that occupy these are just some drone photos that we took about three weeks ago out of the site this is the 230 unit uh multi-family building this is a subsidized uh rent building where the rents here are for individuals making between 60 and 80 of the area median income and it is scheduled to have individuals move in the first week of November this is the storm water park it's in the middle of the community you can see it has a really residential feel to it there's a little Amphitheater built into it in the basketball court

028but it's a for an attention fund it's a very usable area volleyball workflow these are some of the single-family detached films that have already been constructed director next to those are some some error codes that are next to those you can see those already constructed sold occupants living room the area that you see on the top of your screen is a large detention fund of the CC Ura paid for adjacent to that is uh our pads for 78 poundos the large pad in the middle are going to be Condominiums other occupied Condominiums variety of sizes for a variety of income levels foreign Girls Club that you see on the left side of your screen but other than the area in the background are the areas where the non-residential goes so you can see that from

029a timing perspective the residential is nearly built out as far as the two uh the the non-residential partials go those are still owned by the City of Commerce City and urban renewal 40. there is a motion approved last week to list us for sales those will go on the market uh this Friday so we expect to have some development interests over the next 30 to 45 days on developers would be interested in developing those so that's kind of what brings us here tonight is with the interest with the fact that we're moving forward with the development just to kind of understand where the board is as far as what your needs are if you still have a need to occupy a portion of that building uh in Aid regardless of what your intentions in the

030Multicultural building to get ideas or at least to start the conversation on how you want to avoid the 330 000 so that so that we can go back and coordinate with the developer who made that donation and get that paperwork updated to uh to get those implants allocated foreign just a different perspective of the same building the last one that kind of shows a plaza that we're designing um just outside of the Multicultural building that would be a great spot for Gathering we're trying to activate that area throughout the day and into the evening one last it shows kind of a picture of an inspiration of what that building may look like high concentrations and masonry products and glasses patio area back to so um don't know how much I can add to what your

031needs are as far as the 330 000 dollars in or discussion on what your needs may be to the Multicultural building I'm happy to answer any questions but I do see multiple staff in this group that we've been having that conversation with so you may have already had some of those internally or no kind of how you'd like to progress again when we're looking is probably the next 45 to 60 days we'd love to have an idea of what your needs may be so that we can reduce our architect to start on the design of that building and then that way when we finally enter into the purchasing sales agreement with the master developer for the balance of that land uh we won't be behind and everything can develop at the same time uh design

032on a building like that is likely going to take about nine months in construction probably 12 months so I called about a two-year blowout any questions you have I'm happy to answer great thank you for your presentation um actually I just wanted to point out that any of us that are now on the board in 2018. so um it would be really interesting to go back and see what the social discussions were um as to where they were thinking until I met you not too long ago I learned that that was someone we're in talks with um per se so I would really I don't understand it or somebody has that information okay and that way we can look at that before obviously we need we have a lot of needs there isn't a question

033about that and love all the help that we yeah for me just because this community is so used to people starting their meal all the time that we get something promised to take those away but I want to make sure that we're doing right kind of people who were here we have whatever it was that was discussed and whatever works best in this day and age where our our students so for me it's important because so I'm excited discussions and it's also helpful for me to have a timeline so that we know stuff um for me I'm I'm wondering if you know or can talk a little bit about what's already in the works for them while they're just building like um what what are so we have a contract from an architect to do

034the schematic design on it and that's about as far as we know at this point there's been some conversations about you know the fact that the city staff will grow out of the Civic Center that we might put some staff over there especially staff that have um you know high demand for in-person meetings or plans so that those work would generate a lot of daytime activity to support the restaurants I know that the active city managers had some conversations with some other non-profits who would be interested in maybe having some space for after hours during hours but the goal is just to have a combination of uh non-profit institutional uses cultural uses whether it's a Historic Society maybe it's uh you know any sort of government or quasi-government organization kind of occupy that building it

035will be a tax exempt building we're looking to try to facilitate users that would be from sunup life or Sundown so that there's always activity there we don't have a dark space but say that we have specific users already identified outside of an agreement that we would Reserve at least 15 000 square feet for the average school team they're right now they're just ideas that's really helpful um I know we've met with the Historical Society a number of times and um I I think it's helpful to have this timeline because now I know you can reachable to them and catch up on the discussions I've been had because I no idea had an opportunity that changes yeah it's easier to design a building sure um thank you very much data analysis um we're going to

036spend about an hour during this time we'll have cable packs we will leave the live feed on during this time however we'll be needed after our table talks members of our team will provide a brief covering of what went on during this I'd like to have stuff here sorry members of the board thank you to all of our school leaders who are here today foreign um and um what those are and um and how we're gonna have those discussions I do want to also just clarify ing employees in regards to the changes that uh in the state you have with the accountability system so um very important for us to know if we need to share a couple of these um calculated framework for the 22-23 school year but automatic advancements on the account of

037Daily Talk has been suspended so unlike years before always automatic that has been suspended so for example a school and vertical Improvement uh your free plan of 2022 that earns priority Improvement or term in 2022 will remain in the Earth know that it is possible for sites to earn priority improvements or turnaround problem type in 2022 that they were not previously on the account for 2022 only the department is so um besides who will be eligible for supports in additional departments we'll apply for example additional building so um something else is the low participation flag in the Frameworks participation of north of 95 the school's ratings were not lowered due to a low participation this year so that's another point that has changed is um yeah our requests to reconsider is now available and this

038is for schools that have made progress but um there are requests or difference to um to uh to have the same consider uh advancement um this uh requested use schools or districts on the Block to exit the accountability talk or to move to onwatch if they have earned an improvement or higher tax money um so it's exciting is that we have three schools in that case we're not going to be our manager account so we will be asking for the states to consider preventing the higher rating for us those are cancer and Elementary yes sir Arnold involves here so we have already submitted the application or the requests to be considered in those retired they have been accepted and now we're just waiting for the statement to take action that will happen yes so we're

039not going to hear um the district is still eligible for the EC grants among the individual schools that we see opens this week in 2016 December and provides a wide range of school Improvement opportunities you can explore and uh just as an FYI we have these um discussing with CPP officials about these opportunities so um I'm looking at my team here for accountability to see if I missed it but if you have any questions so uh the next hour what we're going to be doing we're going to be looking at the data I'm going to pass it on to uh thank you isn't allowed distinguished board members as super incidentally a new audience as Dr Leia mentioned my name is Sheila Burke and I'm honored to serve as the chief academic officers I'm joined tonight

040by my academic colleagues at visiting local our director of assessment and our academic team here will be a part of our team we'll have discussions tonight I work here tonight to be able to provide you and our stakeholders with an overview of our progress towards our goals that we have established between Adams 14 and cncp over our time together this evening will be spent in three parts of South Carolina had mentioned part one is going to consist of a data presentation specific to the six major goals that we have established again between Adams 14 and cncp part two is going to consist of the tabletop discussions in the data protocol folks focusing on the six major goals as well as opportunities for questions and answers and we'll provide you with a date of homework for

041that that folder will be yellow uh Park Zoo excuse me after that will be part three and that'll consist of an overview of our data dashboard this part will be virtual by our colleague from Team CP Cassandra cross and she's going to provide an overview of the data dashboard that Adams 14 and cncp are utilizing to progress monitor our six goals you have blue folders in front of you this evening that include the presentation um it's for us to be able to follow for your convenience to take notes on and then we're happy to answer any questions but this time I'd like to turn our presentation over to miss local thank you cheaper before um I begin I wanted to share an overview of our data I wanted to take a moment to review the

042goals that we have co-created with tntp these schools are closely aligned to Adam's 14 forward goal number two that states every student experiences a safe and Equitable learning environment teacher of excellence in addition these goals are also aligned closely in Dr Maria's priorities specifically around learning and talent development on the next two slides our goals are referenced these goals fall into the three major domains talent management instructional transformation in culture and climate Additionally you will see how we are progress monitoring these schools tonight as we share our progress through our goals we will also share the progress we have made around meeting these goals as I moved to our data slides I wanted to frame the sequence of the data sets many of the goals have two data sets the first data set will show

043the district level data and then individual schools that are listed in alphabetical order the percentages are shown up at the top and the total number of students are below the name of the graph the second data set shows an overview of the data aligned to the district level School level and then broken down by subgroup there's some foods versus segregated data that we chose to analyze are spray and reduced lunch gifted and talented and ethnic group Chief Earth will now transition to our first goal and the progress that we have made thank you it's our first school as displayed in as the site that you see here is around 90 to 100 of our core content tasks are from the district approved curriculum and or aligned with the Colorado State Standards in partnership with cncp

044we started utilizing the Adams 14 student focused teacher appropriate to guide our observations utilizing the consistent observations will allows our teams to have a strong vision for strong instruction use of common language which allows us to identify Trends and return to build capacity of our school teams which leads back to our shared vision for strong instruction there are four performance areas on our Brew breaks including culture of learning essential content academic learning and demonstration of work within each of these domains there are performance levels and descriptors and then finally aligning with the core teacher skills we are excited to share progress in Valley School s the next school around and demonstrating their internet English language words Spanish language arts and math we will measure this by using a star map these assessments are 20 to

04540 minutes of bonds that not only provide users and students learning data but also provides instructional planning and growth targets our beginning of the year testing window will begin this Friday September 30th our third goal is that 40 of students will meet or exceed expectations on Steam Mass the data set is from this spring when our students chose to see Mass on this side starting with our district data you will see each of our schools and the percentage of students who met or exceeded expectations the number below each bar graph shows the number of students who completed the assessment the goal line is at the top of the chart and is referenced by a dotted line since a district in our schools are all below the goal line we are in progress this next slide

046shows at the district level the disaggregated groups and how each subgroups performed on CMAs English language arts on this slide you will notice two bar drops the top graph shows the disaggregated data and the bottom graph is broken down by race our gifted and talented students have met our goal as a district since all of our subgroups have not reached 40 proficiency we are in progress meeting in school as we move into the next slide this growth graph shows our CNAs math proficiency our goal Remains the Same 40 percent of students will meet or exceed expectations the district data is on the far left of the graph and this school data is organized by alphabetical we are significantly below our whole life so we are in progress of meeting this goal as noted on the

047next slide you will notice again two bar graphs the top graph shows the disaggregated groups and the bottom graph is broken down by race similar to our English language arts data our gifted and talented students are outperforming our other subgroups as a district because there are subgroups have not reached 40 proficiency we are in progress of meeting as we shift from academic data the data we move to is around the goal of 80 of retention of our teachers and needy leaders meeting or exceeding except we are closely monitoring our teacher retention data we will continue to monitor their progress using the Randa evaluation tool as a district we are on track to meeting our goal because currently we are above the goal line the next slide shows the retention of our leaders currently we are

048above the goal line and we have retained a hundred percent of our leaders we will continue to monitor their progress as Outline by Senate Bill 191 and utilizing the random actually the next couple of slides are around the average daily attendance our goal is to have an average daily attendance of 95 and this is closely connected to our state testing participation rate in order to meet a rating of needs our students must have a 95 participation rate on CNAs on this slide you will see our district and our elementary data many of our elementary schools are close to the 95 average here is the data set for our preschool middle and high schools as a district and our schools have not yet been around 95 average daily attendance so we are in progress Ive one

049note before September 27-22 we revised a couple of the slides originally on September 16th we pulled their percentage of the total student population for each design for being a data up this new data shows the accurate persistent data because of this business there's slight change in the other data sets the updated data sets are in the second packet of your group folder these Provisions do not change the overall progress we are making towards as you know there's a strong connection between daily average attendance and student persistent data when we talk about persistent data we are analyzing the number of students who stay enrolled in atoms 14 in 2022 to 2023 school year and return the following this school year we are tracking their enrollment data to monitor progress to ensure that 90 of our students

050stay enrolled in the atoms Adam's 14th school next year the blue part of the stack data shows students who remain enrolled and the great part shows students who have disenrolled since the beginning of on this graph this shows the student persistent data at our yeah we're at our free schools middle and high schools at our early learning Childhood Center in our preschool a hundred percent of our students have stayed enrolled one piece of data that I would like to draw your attention to is Lester Arnold High School since this is an alternative high school in the major other structured students will transfer in and out of this school this is why their intimidatory will be lower than our other schools the final slide shows our persistent data broken downside to cyberbanding groups even though two

051of our schools have met our goals we are still in progress of meeting our goal because not all of our subgroups have met their goal this concludes our data around our atoms 14 and TNT peoples the next two slideshow of District level Behavior this first data set shows district-wide student Behavior here to do that this graph shows Behavior incidents by response the number above the bar graph is the quantity of the response as of September 19th we have had 448 behaviors formally documented or resolved in our final slide shows the total number of incidents that are reported since the beginning of school until September 19th we have had a total of important incidents and transition to our tabletop discussion there's one piece that I want to be able to clarify so as we talk about

052students who are not returning to Adam's 14 it may be that there's no Reserve or families of them in another school or district and so that data set in there represents both numbers or out of state right as families are transitioning outside of the metro area so I just came out of President Lovato this concludes the data presentation we would like to be able to move into our tabletop discussion with five groups here tonight um that represent five out of the six major goals we would encourage our board members and guests to be able to select self-select one of the five groups to be able to go into we are going to move the table slightly so if you give us just a moment to be able to do that part of it and then

053we will have our academic team members there to be able to follow a data protocol again as a reminder the groups are the core content we have a discipline group we have disaggregated groups HR Staffing including retention and attendance and persistence at the close of that you will have one of our table leads provide a summary of what was shared and discussed because at that time we will turn the microphone back so that the device doesn't carry through in the factory and then we'll move into the final piece of our presentation so we'll be in the section for 30 minutes yeah regarding um had heard [Music] okay so um board member Sylvia thank you for the question so we still have samville as a preschool uh the part that we moved was the location of

054in some of the Sandhill preschool is still open still running they are just now integrated inside at the location of Central but it's still a standalone peaceful program the old Danville location that we have on record has now been repurposed for that really usage to be able to accommodate another program that had equal means in central paths in space so central campus location has Central K5 students and it has Danville preschool students in there I'm still at the same school code we just switched the location I think it's important to call that out because whenever you say settle the whole Community still thinks it's for example the one building where they were before and not necessarily that there is because it just creates more confusion thank you I don't want to go to attendance first

055time so that makes sense numbers thank you guys let me move my information [Music] um yeah [Music] thank you all right [Music] guys okay all right um [Music] thank you today University tomorrow so please foreign uh total we have three 3.8 percent so um foreign thank you guys um oh yeah right now foreign situations foreign all right I got it it's also a smaller numbers experience thank you for directions [Music] is your questions sometimes together [Music] experience questions later thank you ladies [Music] their office foreign Americans thank you [Music] oh my God [Music] thank you [Music] foreign thank you so much we're gonna put the room back together and then our table leads we're going to quickly do a look around once our room is put back into our study session format to be able

056to share out on what your table talked about so they'll give us a minute foreign please yeah the red on the bottom thank you sorry to me going on [Music] thank you foreign content area that's right all right my name is Matt Johnson director here and our table discuss that has an opportunity to be currently have with math and really utilizing our math fellows during the day for tutoring and also potentially having a tutors after school um support us in our uh our road towards higher proficiency with the students and also receiving expectations as well because you know that's what I've seen so I was really excited so we have our disaggregated groups which is and what we found is that our gifted students were approaching or meeting in all areas where we had enough

057data we met when we spoke with the special education department we dug into the fact that we need to unpack the data to really understand the story and the narrative behind his students and a celebration with our social really students is that due time and Rose Hill culturally gifted students are keeping us with their moms and we also have a lot of homework to do because directors again gave us many tasks to get back to her and be well we will we will all right next we have our Behavior um we uh probably like a lot of other groups like the more questions um the executive director of secondary education um and one thing we really looked into was how do we start to understand what is documented document through our online system in terms

058of behavior instances I also talked about how we shift always in front of the extremes how does whole school suspension practices which restorative justice and other um and then I think um just continue to think through how we leverage restorative practices District wide and make sure you're in place make sure they're there to help kids feel supported and feel like they're working through these productive ways and conflicts um in their difficult situations come up oh and then we also noted there is some disproportionality in Behavior instances for our language Learners and our male students exactly thank you I'm Jeff McKenna I'm the chief of Human Resources here in Adams 14 and we um had a 80 retention of teachers and leaders and when we looked at the data of course it's super early so although

059it looks like we're off to a great start it's going to be critical for us to really monitor uh daily weekly where we're at especially in the state of Colorado where teachers are not bound by a contract and really can leave at any point in time um so monitoring is going to be crucial so that our teachers feel valued appreciate it and we help them grow we also know that in our data there's a critical piece that's missing and that's the effectiveness of teachers so until we get that data piece in as the years goes on that will be more telling because we want to make sure that we're keeping our Irreplaceable teachers and then growing and coaching those that need some support as far as what we really need to make sure that we're

060doing is putting in a state that underproduces teachers and has shortages Statewide really need to put systems and processes in place that are not just in the box but out of the box so that um that we have a robust Advocate pool of Highly qualified and effective kiddos and leader leaders and teachers thank you and last we have our attendance on persistence data in marijuana is choose business officer and we worked director of Easter Velasquez she's the director of community engagement and the student information system with the importance of Molina and we explore the subject of attendance we did not look at any of the numbers we actually discussed what their numbers do not say which is the personal stories of the children and the families we those of us who work in education sometimes

061were very quick to believe that in order for a fitness to get better we have to go in some sort of incentive and one of the most popular incentives is that it's about it for some of the progress materials that we have there aren't enough itself slices in from the cities so many situations that we have do not require incentives what they require is a solution a supportive solution to the companies and so uh one of our takeaways from this question is that we have to humanize the numbers we have to humanize the data understand what is the story behind these numbers or just simply that we are at 89 and we need to head to a 95 that is all you know we're gonna have to break these numbers down to 12 very personal

062level right foreign there are numbers but that is very generic and those numbers come with the assumption that oh children's almost schools all the districts having access to the same resources the same level of Health they have the same experiences you know that that is not necessarily true so even though we do have a legal obligation report and keep track of that data we still have to keep in mind that our families our community is unique um and there's there's more to the story about what the numbers tell us have to be sensitive and mindful of that there are still going to be cases where the numbers tell the whole story right that we still have to alert with those processes but um more often than not it's a matter of opening the door for

063that conversation and finding out how can the schools um put those resources in place those tools in place for those families so that this does not become and they should down the road that we are focusing more on the prevention side thank you all right so thank you as you will have teams and for engaging in this um at this time we'd like to be able to move into the third portion of our data presentations evening and we have joining us virtually missing Cambridge from tntp she's going to quickly provide us an overview of the data dashboard that we utilize between Adams 14 and team CCT to progress monetary our sex polls Cassandra um most of the data or around four contents that you need is based on the series I just want to make

064sure that we all hear loud and clear that Samurai's testing is not the only way that we actually is um there are a little studies around that it actually most recently just earlier this month in Harvard Society research project highlighted the significant challenges quality in schools uh animal students that relates to achievements right and as it is right now this achievement in um is if you are to probably order um factors that impact students such as brains or learning disabilities or absenteeism it is the challenges are even greater so um do not get me wrong it doesn't mean don't want our students we do not care about the students to be better and see lessons found the right testing but it's just one measure that is actually um not even not relevant um so just

065wanted to um highlight that because I know some of the data looks quite brutal it keeps me up at night but I just you know what we're going to be looking at is actually in some of the other measures to do a really be able to engage how much our students are making Partners or where we're not seeing that progress so that we can um as mentioned the name of the dashboard is to track the data that will allow us to assess progress towards with this major goals that we have fit each page will show what goal is represented by the data as well as an individual progress towards that goal we've been here in the top left hand corner that goal three 40 students will be your exceed expectations and we have several filters

066that will allow us to look at school level grade level and students membership so that we can monitor where there are difference is additionally we do have them at culture reported a year since there is on the store the uh on the dashboard we have the data sectioned into math English language arts in Spanish language art and as I mentioned we have indicators for progress towards the whole so in this math session we see this chart dependent grade level for efficiency over the years with about 30 409 and we're also able to hover over and see more details information about here that uh School level data with an enabler with more detailed student group data and go looking at those different areas that we've identified because there is so much data available the filters are

067really going to help their work and in addition to that math we also have this data on here for English language arts as well as the data versus so the next page that we have for you is to show the average daily attendance suppose you're being 95 and this is going to be a similar set of Genius page where we can filter down the data here we have Genesis school and group s and you can also look at this in that table of format and that is easiest and it's also going to be a lot more detailed with the different treatment groups as well as have that color scale there to help Focus the tension or it can be looked at it chart which shows for all students actually schools and over time being we

068are looking at attendance in a few different ways on this page and so the first way you'll see is that we have it in these sections of two week chunks of time and so that we can look at and this is changing over time at the different Zone and within the different student groups and you'll see that in both the table and the chart over here we are also looking at the data and work attendance cumulatively which can be seen in this chart by school as well as the data for all schools and finally on this attendance page there are a couple of years of historical data for attendance which we have is a bad chart and he will work at table before and then the last page that we'll look at is the resistance

069data where the goal here is for 90 of students are full this year to return next week once again there is a familiar structure to the page that allows for filtering here right now we just have schooling day and you can also view it in the people or chart form a lot of those colors we are monitoring student enrollment throughout the school year and we'll update this bi-weekly so the chart will eventually give us an overtime view of how involvement information so that we can monitor our progress towards that 90 gold at the bottom there is some data from the 2021 school year on student persistence throughout that school year that can provide a bit of a historical perspective on persistence password we anticipate that some features of this dashboard May expand or change based

070on identified means and ages and voters will be added as data comes in so for Golden 1 curriculum data will be available soon and will be updated quarterly in the dashboard for goal two which we'll do is on k2c and growth and POA math or have data available following the STAR testing window which means that could work with me and finally the page [Music] you may have thank you [Music] thank you so much um [Music] a while back I know that um I think Reddit and um we had mentioned that one of the things we'd like to see that I don't know if that's something that's so possible it's not just the percentages of what those represent so um when you say 90 is that nine out of 10 students is that 90 or 100

071students is that what is that because percentages is one thing and as we said before we like to see the nicest data more and we want to make sure that um you know the it's representative of true members uh so for me it's important as opposed thank you for the question so we will continue to make sure that when we're speaking about data that we also have to present and the number of students requests any other questions and thank you for all of those within the teams um we're not in your world every day um and so it makes it really hard sometimes to understand the window but you can see a great job of explaining it and actually accepting some of our feedback because um we see it from a different perspective because you

072can see it on a regular basis so I appreciate the time today um it is Untouchable and it does help it helps like I said to my group the data helps us make better decisions of the better data we have the better information we understand but easier will be for all of us to work together thank you thank you my comment um is that this is beautiful I know it's something that we have asked for for many years so I would I would love to learn more about like how this was developed um you know tntv covered very hard on this so um as we continue to look at it because it looks different than even what I saw um yesterday and today so maybe you guys are messing with the access um but I

073just Kudos like this is ways we see real data and to be able to communicate what we want to see how [Music] members and members of the board thank you I don't think it's more so if um you know not providing access or vehicle access so this data changes every day because we are right um so it actually we um brushes I guess it's the right word um a plant so um every day we'll see some different data and one of the things um that we are aiming to do based on your feedback is really to be able to go in that into just a few now because as I said at the beginning and as we continue moving forward this year in a community transition into policy governance the board will be able to

074then identify areas that they want to hear throughout the year and then having scheduled for the table girls you know in the second quarter we're going to use operating tax data realized her goals to show you the progress because although we're going to be monitoring the Social Security theme as we know that cap is only at the end of the year but there are some indicators within the school year that will help us know that there's uh progress to see that and so that is um forward and during you know the year [Music] next on our agenda um because the unified Improvement plan presentation um foreign I'm going tonight by our school principals our executive directors of schools and we're here tonight to be able to share an overview of each school's unified Improvement plan

075or what we refer to as the byp in 2009 the Colorado Department of Education or CDE introduced the unified Improvement plan or uip to streamline school and District efforts to meet a variety of state and federal Improvement planning requirements the uip is designed to provide guidance to school leaders and their stakeholders regarding their Improvement efforts and strategies tonight you're going to hear from each of our schools by grade fan level and each goal will present in alphabetical order again by their grade fan level we're going to begin with Elementary so at this time we would like to turn our presentation over to principal Menards foreign so I also this year we're soaring to the top and we are going to do that by focusing on three major Improvement strategies and these uh major Improvement strategies

076are based on a thorough analysis of the previous year's data our three major Improvement strategies include high quality tier one early literacy instruction number two high quality tier one math instruction and three high quality science instruction through the alignment of next-gen science statements these Improvement strategies that we have identified are in alignment with our sixth district folks as we move into year two with our elg work and we've seen great success and growth in our early literacy data our goal is to continue this implementation with Fidelity and rigor and this will help us to identify students that are in need of additional targeted support and then with the implementation of our new math curriculum we recognize that we are still in need of thoroughly thoroughly implementing the curriculum to Fidelity in addition to identifying those

077students and need a targeted math interventions as we launched this year a walkthrough data has shown that our teachers and students have worked hard to set up a purposeful and productive learning environment this now gives us the opportunity to focus on our planning and preparation for tier one instruction in all content areas when we are planning for purposeful instruction that is rigorous and engaging we will also also see an increase in our daily attendance because students will want to be at school um in addition to this we will be monitoring all of our une goals through the use of what we call our student ambassadors and so as we continue to plan for rigorous instruction we've also identified our class ambassadors in both literacy and in math using our previous year's CMS and star data

078teachers thoughtfully chose three students in each content area area that represents low medium and high academic success we use these students as a pinpoint on how to plan for their needs precisely when we plan for these specific students we can then identify other students who fall into the same needs category each week at PLC team meetings we speak to each of our ambassadors presenting work samples and current data and as a team we plan for each of those three groups throughout the week myself our sister principal Miss Lady Gaga and our two instructional coaches will complete blocked groups um we have a shared document to capture what our ambassadors are doing at that moment in time so that we could use that data to give feedback to our teachers um and determine or identify areas

079of need for coaching support or to make better adjustments for our students monitoring these ambassadors will help us additionally in monitoring our assessment our success with our UI peoples and our achievement towards our overall District goals so I can tell you what our specific smart goals are if you'd like um and connect that to students is that helpful sorry so um by the end of this year 80 have also k-3 students will be reading on a grade level by the end of the 20 to 23 school year as measured by the acadians early literacy assessment and that 88 accounts it counts to 161 pages um our second one 40 of our third through fifth grade students will meet or exceed math achievement by the end of the year as measured by the Colorado measure of

080academic achievement and success or CMS and that 40 accounts to 78 third fourth and fifth graders and then finally um we would like to see 50 of our fifth grade students meet or exceed science achievement by the end of the school year again as measured by CMS and that 50 of our fifth grade students accounts to 33 students if you have any questions for us I just want to add um a little bit of to this process customer certification to the process what we have asked our principles is really to come in and show uh entity to you and have a conversation about what is different this year uh not so much on going through the document of the uid the goals and know checking all the boxes but more so what you know your

081interest is what is different this year how's it going through we're really working hard and maybe we would have monitoring students and provided effective feedback to teachers on how the students responded to instruction um so that's a little bit of what we've heard of the ambassadors of the different purposeful planning for those groups so some of the things that you're going to hear about probably similar from school to school as far as how we're monitoring and so as we go through the principles so that they are not repetitive you know based on some of those comments but we're going to be and you can see them what is different for them this year they go into a number of students because we are going down to not percentages of numbers and name of students um

082the process because I know it's different to last year absolutely I'm sorry I do have a question um the past few years it was physical bit so I I guess I'm just curious as to whether we've had um thank you for the question um we definitely have had some parents involvement we will be completing our first stack meeting within the next couple of weeks and that is a big meeting where we would really present this and make some adjustments based on parent feedback and so the full uh the pool uh plan is not due for about another month so we still have some room to make some adjustments so we will be bringing our parents and work thank you guys good evening madamboyant president Olado and distinguished board members a viewing audience my name is

083the proud principal of Central Elementary I'm excited to be able to sit with you tonight and present to you regarding our University plan this evening so essential are major Improvement strategies are increased to student access to rigorous instructional opportunities data-driven instructional practices and enhance social emotional support so the students are ready to engage in the learning we've identified these three strategies because of alignment with District goals a history of teachers with the best intentions lowering overall rigor to teach to students who are not yet on grade level and many students need additional social emotional supports beyond the universal supports in order to be ready to learn so here's what we've already done so far this year to make concrete improvements we structured our plcs to focus Dually on grade level instruction and then that data-driven

084piece through the focus of grade level complex text and short constructive responses in grades four five and a concentration on early literacy skills in grades K3 so that our students can be code techs at grade level we provided in regarding through fifth grade teachers with additional professional development and ongoing feedback and modeling on the most important early literacy skill instruction focusing on planning high quality tier one instruction explicit vocabulary instruction and engagement and management strategies some of those pieces have taken place just in P3 but they have support across all grade levels in some areas there due to our Innovation plans Central teachers were able to return one week early from summer break and engage in Universal tier one instructional professional development alongside all new staff within the district really supporting us with giving us

085a Common Language and expectations so that it's very important provide feedback on and teaching too we've revised our school-wide content language objective format to ensure that students understand what is going to be taught during a lesson the student-friendly standards one language and access to the academic vocabulary and language structures that students are going to use throughout the lesson we've also engaged teachers in professional development on restorative practices and more than several times so the teachers can be responsive to classroom needs and also revamp our morning Circle time to support with student engagement and connection we've also hired a Student Success coordinator to support students with higher level needs as well as collect data on Effectiveness and Coach teachers with tier one classroom Sports as written in our Innovation plan you begun the process with our

086instructional leadership team to identify the desired criteria or social emotional learning curriculum that better meets our needs and we begun the selection process to identify that correct in accordance again with our Innovation plan and the Community Schools model that's unique to Central we've set up parent workshops to support the conflict resolution and parenting strategies at home to further support the social emotional learning that our students are undertaking in school we've begun initial steps to contract through playworks to support with training for staff and students on conflict resolution structured gameplay and use of social learning skills in context on the playground so that our students arrive back in classroom recess ready to engage in learning and we're getting to more of those instructions so we've laid the groundwork for some really great work we're excited to

087see how this translates to our students progress specifically Ambassador progress so we're also taking a careful look at how our Systems Support our ambassadors so our teachers selected ambassadors based on CMS star Cadence and security event and I've identified students from each performance Span in both math and reading we've also ensured that a significant portion of our ambassador students are linguistically gifted as we know that these students both represent a significant portion of our students and also a data challenge that we need to directly address to effectively monitor our ambassadors we recognize that we need to create some simple systems that put them really at the center of our work um and not an extra piece of work right they need to be centered in what we're doing every single day so that they're folded

088into our practice so during plcs and grades four or five teachers will bring their student work sorted first Target our instructional moves to support those Learners first and in kindergarten through third grade we're continually looking at arcadians data and plcs so simple system for that is that we've highlighted those ambassadors of bright color on our projection sheets on our tracker sheets a really simple way to keep our ambassadors in the center of our mind again we Center our discussions around those students first so we can see their progress then we open it up our discussion to other pieces of data other students to make sure that what we believe to be true about our ambassadors needs is going to meet the needs of all students so as we begin our Focus walkthroughs special eye will

089be placed on Ambassador students to ensure that they are engaged receiving and relevant instruction and responding to that instruction focusing on Ambassador students allows us to identify specific needs but also think through Universal supports that both the ambassadors and other students will respond to well too this uip has been created with input from Central's instructional leadership team feedback from ESS staff and parent and Community input from both the 2122 school year and the start of this school year as well at our next parent copy and school accountability meetings this uip will be presented to the community members so we can go in depth and really work to make sure that this plan meets the needs of our community thank you so much for allowing me to share a vision in uip for social Elementary thank

090you all right president it's got a nice rank too his team members of the board Dr Maria we appreciate your service thank you very much I'm the proud principal Brian Clark Kelly Hines is our assistant principal she is with kids at Skate City tonight I'm going to try to do a number of uh events to bring the communities back into schools so much here um I want to give a shout out to the leaders in the room for where I begin to present some new fund but it's a cool vision for their teams they allow them to have a voice and they value them every single day principles I work with a very impressive team and I'm proud um let's see if Dupont dropped into priority Improvement by point on rspf from last year so

091we are disciplined about it but we're not going to use that to let us get down it's creating a sense of urgency around the school we have a growth mindset high expectations and we're very inclusive especially that's our mission so that we reach our vision of reaching our full potential so with that sense of urgency what are we doing what's new this year best first instruction but really specifically what's new is that we have a PLC structure that allows teachers to have two planning blocks every day because USS has provided pushing ELD and SLP support for our teachers and our students freeing them up to have time during every day not only to plan collaboratively together to analyze data but also to they have one less block to plan for so this in my opinion

092is the biggest shift and I know not everyone is staffed completely yet around the district but it's um we were really lucky to have that stretcher up and running so we're running nearly daily pocs and Mondays are the times for coaches Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday are mostly facilitated PLC time and then Friday is released so teams are working together to continue the good work that they're doing so that actually I think the biggest change is going to yield the biggest uh festival with us this year we continue to expand our new language program K5 with our traditional language program and with our full-only version we are now in preschool and kindergarten first the students that are related to that are more now they're more English dominant we don't have yet the pure English only students

093that are coming in but they're significantly more English dominant and we are attracting more people into our environmental program we had an increase of uh 30. it doesn't sound like much enrollment over last year it was the first time in over eight years so really significant so we continue to develop our program language program our community continues to enroll in it so I'm really excited about that on the instruction side but partnering with tntp they came to an audit this past week before that caring so we got some additional feedback which is useful and some additional reports so that we can know kind of where we're standing um we're working on 90 Day plans we're planning ahead and this information is going to give us a good Baseline to set our plans and planning our

094plcs planning our communities really understanding not only the needs of our staff but the users not only the names of our students of our staff as well um you've heard the ambassadors talked about a lot tonight for sure and I think that that's going to the strategy is going to allow us to reach our goal 1.5 years of growth with all of our kids as well as 40 of our third fourth and fifth on the CMAs state test and 60 and that's going to be 70 students you bought this year and 60 of our K2 will be at our most grade level in the primary and that is about 95 students as well but I think the Ambassador strategy is going to allow us to do that I did share with former president Lewis a

095slideshow if you're interested asking about it later and there's a video in that like what was that Ambassador strategy might look like just from a data demonstration but it really allows us to understand and to generalize the needs of all of our students by focusing on a few it's powerful we have lots of time for mplc with our teachers and they're bringing stated in not only for the ambassadors but for all students when we start with them because always these conversations take a lot of time and so historically like last year we did a nice job analyzing data but then we would kind of run out of time in PLC fall short planning that's not going to happen this year a because we have a strategy that's going to help focus on the needs of

096all kids and B because we have a significant and other areas on the culture and climate we're focused on focusing on this year at Tucson sorry um we continue to focus on the expanded we expanded the time in our daily schedule for social emotional working for our kids and we're really explicit with what we're doing during that time it's no longer something that might happen during breakfast it's something that is taught every day we're using the district resources that we think and also morning Circle and morning meeting to support the social emotional needs of our kids we have a care team structure that's sort of a anyone in the building that has a concern about the mental health any of our students can throw their name into their care and that's our therapist our medical

097counselor typically our social worker we're understaffed in that department right now um in admin and we process around how we can investigate the social emotions we're partnering with MSU we have parent classes happening right now Dupont Avenue we're happy to post that foreign to use our students as well and that's the fourth year those are some of the big things that Dupont is doing this year and again I'm proud to serve that I'm 14. [Music] thank you so much [Music] all right good evening Adam president esteem board member from the superintendent Lauria and the under viewing guest I am excited to be here as the interim principal of Hanson Elementary and share with you our unified Improvement plan after we reviewed our state and local data and we worked with our school and our community

098stakeholders we have identified two major Improvement strategies based on the need of our school one of those is to raise academic achievement and growth and the other one is to improve our school climate and culture by bringing staff students and our families together which was a huge huge need at Hanson over the past year so I'm going to talk to you through some of my strategies so strategy number one to attack academic achievement is that Hanson will create a system where teachers have the resources support and time to intentionally plan high quality tier one lessons to ensure that our curriculum is utilized effectively to meet the needs of our students all of our classrooms features are 100 using the curriculum so we just need to get better at it and improve our tier one instruction

099so here's some of the strategies that we're going to go about attacking this the first one is around lesson planning and preparation with the lens of planning with our ambassadors in mind so with the added PLC time that we have this year we're able to include curriculum expectations and really get into backwards planning of what the day-to-day lesson Looks Like That explicit planning also looks at student engagement by providing opportunities for students to think speak and write students to speak think and write throughout the lesson which is one of our major engagement pieces that we need to include and then also ensuring that our learning objectives are aligned to tasks with at grade level standards all right the second piece of that is our observation and feedback so through walkthroughs we are observing for tier

100one practices and giving small actionable steps to our teachers um we'll also um started instructional rounds which is peer-to-peer observation so you can see the amazing things that are happening within our classes and share that feedback with each other in a debriefing session so that we can use that to help plan forward in addition to that we are monitoring our data and doing that with our leadership team and our coaching staff and looking at our continuing our data driven Culture by using our ambassadors as our North guiding Stars so as we presented um how we were going to go about Masters this year we really took the North Star and our guiding stars as the model for that of how we're going to get there the second major Improvement strategy is around school climate and

101culture and so we said that cancer could create a positive school-wide culture among staff students and parents by improving the school-wide PBIS system to build a strong community of improvement enhanced student learning so when we looked at our survey data from the end of last year how our families are feeling how our teachers are feeling we knew this was the stuff that needed to take uh one of the major things that we implemented this year in addition to our current PBIS system is the hawk house system for every student and staff member is part of a hawk house that represents our Hawks trades and they are all yours within the school photos this has provided clear and consistent school-wide routines that are taught expected and rewarded and it also has linked our students across classes

102and grade levels which was a huge huge need to bring our students together as well this also allowed us to develop common language amongst our students staffs and students about what it means to be a hawk at Hanson weekly lessons have been implemented within our dedicated SEL time as part of morning meeting every Friday to help us meet our Behavior expectations and teach our students what it means to be a leader in each of our hot houses of hard workers um active listeners wise choices kind and respectful and strong leaders so each of them are learning about those trades each week and being leaders within their houses monthly and quarterly rewards are recognized by students and monthly PBIS team meetings and quarterly staff development is occurring to keep that going in addition we're adding Community

103nights at least quarterly which we hope to have one of those very very soon in addition for this we are using our observation and feedback diagram to really focus in on our SEL type and not just our regular academic side to make sure that that's a focus of what we do every day with 100 of our teachers and students circling up in the morning having those svl conversations along with our Hawks trades we also are utilizing the instructional rounds which is the pure observation to see how we can improve in those practices ongoing throughout the year through an additional monetary piece that it has not started yet but we'll be starting at the end of this quarter is providing monitoring data by students staff and parent surveys to see how each of those groups are

104feeling about how things are going into Hanson and also start doing deep dives into analysis between not just instruction but behavioral and attendance friends listing across the building at grade level those are two major strategies this year to help improve cancer and looking at our ambassadors I'm just going to give a brief overview since they are really similar is each of our core teachers have selected three to five ambassadors in both literacy and math and I've been giving ongoing feedback to make sure that we're selecting the best students that we can to meet those needs we're meeting in plcs to look at student work and what that looks like and really dive into how our students responding to instruction in the moment and taking that back to teachers and having conversations and moving the cognitive

105load to meet moving the cognitive loan to our students to meet those needs so all of our conversations are around what do students need how did the student respond and what is our next step for this student and so if we're sitting similar data what do we need to do different next time so our ongoing PLC and principal directed time allows us to not just dig into the unit planning and daily lesson planning but purposely look at what does each Ambassador need throughout the week and look at that formative data collected and have those discussions to develop next steps for ambassadors we are not just looking at our classroom data and assessments as they occur we are also looking at each it as an individual to see how they respond to each other in that

106social emotional [Music] is there any questions not yet thank you good morning president Christine board members my name is Bob Savage I'm the National Health Elementary which is my amazing assistant I told him and I'm gonna give you an overview of our unified Improvement plan started by reviewing our state local data with our school leadership team to come up with a plan and then next month we'll be reviewing that plan and getting the info for parents that are Saturday foreign system to improve our student attendance the steps we will take to achieve these major schools Improvement strategies will be principal directed blocks like the contract Aid and have PLC data analysis meetings and team lesson separations monitoring them and differentiation for investors attendance procedures introduce a great group in individual incentives increased price awareness incorporates

107the health of the entire staff our goals for our uip this year are the same goals we've had in recovered he uses these scale score on ski mask as our goals because we know that if you get approaching and achievement on Ela and math and we did needs to growth of elas in there we will have a verified supporting School foreign we did the single above grade level studies with above and significantly above we created a spreadsheet for Teachers Day Access the spreadsheet has directions for choosing students we recorded their band and their language level language level is important because differentiation for a language learner that is low grade level may look a lot different than an English only student at the same beginning of the year data was collected and inputed on the spreadsheet

108after all the investors were chosen the prints will need to review the choices and review the class data the teachers have chosen two students from the same band they were asked for by increasing that decision making sure that choice as an intentionality behind it a group of students did not have a representative Ambassador chosen I asked the teachers to change their list of ambassadors so that there was a representative for that group every teacher observation the codes are a minister of your checks on each Ambassador are looking for differentiation that allows for independent practice at the instructional level or for scaffolds that will help them access great level instruction and or practice individualized feedback is given to the teacher based on what was observed parenting planning to refer to the ambassadors to ensure we have

109intentionality on planning differentiation and scaffolds during data meetings we check on the success of the ambassadors look to see if their data is representative of the other students in their group or banned and during plcs we study work samples at each scan compared to teachers employers determine Works absolutely any changes that scaffolds or differentiation that result from these meetings are applied to all students in the band that the Ambassador represents I'm very excited to see the results of the implementation of the ambassador program questions is there a way that or are we going to get a class you have a chance I'd say you're talking about the presentation of the actual UI itself because whatever change is really good to actually have that because I'm curious to see what changes between what do principles have

110decided and come up with or staff versus what your parents yeah thank you um this year we have a new system that we put everything into within the Department of Education and so we're working to be able to extract that information out as they also provide you with very happy that it's right now it gets entered directly into that so we'll be able to provide that copies of which is why you don't have it in front of you today um I know we're flying right through this and we haven't had a chance for any break at all do you guys take about 10 minutes is that okay five five so we'll come back at um thank you situation okay that's okay normally tonight somebody oh I was like thank you so much thank you foreign

111okay schools thank you very much that's Miss Ramona's felt Patricia brought the best and thank you so much I think I ever did it yeah how many [Music] oh my God and you just kind of like that smothered burrito foreign thank you all right thank you so much okay sorry thank you I love those I've also set my timer to my Bob when I have a microphone that has a lot of fun um so good evening President Bush members of the board uh my name is um instantly so my colleagues have provided a lot of information regarding what we're doing differently um I hope to provide information that's different than what they have already provided also understanding that many of our systems and structures are similar because we are receiving similar supports um our root

112cause is very similar to what you've heard already um we we have a lack have and have had a lack of language supports and tier one instruction but also planning for that tier one instruction um and something really different that we're doing um yeah you know the the the practice on an airplane if there's an emergency you got to put the mask on yourself with others um last year was my year to put the mask on my staff members before we were able to really see some growth with our kids um and what I mean by that is we needed to establish that Monaco is a safe place for staff um so that we had an environment so that we have an environment where each of us could push on each other without the fear

113of percussions termination or any sort of reprisals so um this year 100 of my staff including myself including my assistant principal we are ready to change any part of our practice even if it's a pet practice as long as the data indicates um had some some difficult conversations in the school year last year preparing my staff but I know that you are safe you are safe here as long as you're willing to change in that practice that you have don't worry about evaluation we are here to coach each other and that that includes me as well my staff knows that I have blind spots they help me with them I know they have blind spots I help them with them um and when we have those conversations when we talk when we give feedback um

114shifting from adult Focus to student Focus also I'm sorry for the fluctuation I'm getting excited started out with saliva um also making sure that we are talking about students we're not like we were saying earlier we're not talking about percentages we're talking about numbers um and so we are receiving supports that we did not receive last year for example um our coaches through the elg grant they have come to our building and they have had conversations with each of my uh teachers I was there with them and we discussed how many kids in each grade level in each class need to move from uh one proficiency band to the next um in order to to meet our goals and so what that means for example um in order to meet the 40 goal and proficiency

115on CMAs in both math and in literacy we're going to need um to have 38 more students uh either meet or exceed expectations on Star and CMS than what we have from grades three through five in ela or English language arts and uh 44 more in math but we're breaking that down by grade level and by teacher um when I go into classrooms when my assistant principal goes into classrooms like or my coach goes into classrooms we are not watching the show of what the teacher is doing which is traditional and what I love uh tntp the new teacher project what makes it the new teacher is that the new teacher can't step aside and guide student learning or watching students so when we're in classrooms we're looking at the effect of the practice on

116each kid um and I know that we've heard that um we're using the academic Playbook to help us do that we're using the support from dlg to help us do that we're using support from there's another rubric that tntp has recently provided us that focuses on student behaviors and student practices we have already got that um I have weekly conversations with each of my staff either myself my coach or my assistant principal has a conversation with each um of my staff members to give them feedback and let them know what we're going to be observing next time um so those are some things that we're doing differently my timer just went off do you have any questions for me thank you so much for your time oh I'm sorry oh no I was done um

117but I just because everybody's doing an awesome presentation I'm very loud yes thank you thank you so much for your presentation um I was uh I understand that each school has different needs according to whatever the state is requiring us from for from us however I notice like a lot of similarities in some of the presentations I just have a quick question you know I got to be part of I was part so I got to be part of some of the igp uh stuff during the doc for a year a few years back so I'm excited just to hear going on now and see the final results but have you guys um like met together and shared some of these before coming to us with the final uh presentation have you as uh executive

118directors is there a coalition or committee that has shared your plans comparing them because there's a lot of similarities and it seems like at least in my hearing um uh uh same niece in summer does that make sense and again I don't know if this might be towards the end or maybe you can meditate on that until the end of it so we can hear the rest of it anyway I was just wondering thank you thank you for the question so yes as part of the school accountability Community similar to The District accountability as spreading the statutory requirements for schools to be able as an accountability phase to be engaged to the university process part of that process means that they're providing input into the unified Improvement plan and that began in the spring of

1192022 so right around March through being when school is in and then we're re-engaging in that work now as we have our district initiatives going forward and then our alignment with our goals between Adams 14 and tntp and so you're hearing alignment between the data goals that we have named here and what the schools are presenting that work will continue throughout the school year because the unified Improvement plans are designed to be able to provide guidance I'm in the school accountability committees is part of their statutory requirements to be able to continue to provide input and update and progress monitor the principles work regarding what it is that they're sharing publicly and committing to public thank you so next we have um Rosa I'm gonna start this it's always a pleasure as director Clarkson earlier

120it's always a pleasure to be here well now eventually middle school high school we just such a committed group of my career it's an honor to be here um my name is Anderson she is passing out something we're going to start with a little bit of History banking here for our school they're very proud you know we have a long ways to go but you have before you're there is our SPF history in 2016. 30.1 this is all according to the CBE performance and you can see in the historical data there Department of North Korea it just I have such a committed our Valley State University is very connected with each other and committed to our students and this is what this is the results of the dedication was at 4 30 in the morning

121of our teachers do too and this is so great to see the progress you look at the growth growth wasn't talked about earlier this evening in my opinion I read the research especially has been and so if you're looking to grow up there historically it's an all-time line if you've seen that so we wanted to make sure I respect my staff my community let you know them a few weeks ago I think a lot of people and it's just exciting to see you know it's Chrissy mentioned earlier to me when we were just chatting here our talk is how we get to Performance because right now we're at yellow and that's not what we want to be we're proud of that we're excited about that but we think with our leadership our strategies that we've

122all highlighted that's how we're going to get to the next level we hope as I mentioned tonight industry our goal is to be preventively High goal identify that episode is pandemic that next level is also something to um my UAV this is going to talk about the strategy is really important some new highlights I think but I want to make sure I'm clear as Dr Maria asked what are some of the new things one of the first things that I see is um champions of Staff especially our BLT teachers we know that that's been a huge thing most of our language Learners we have a new stem teacher science hasn't been talked much about sciences and testing content area on the CMA specific Colorado we're a little confident that our new stem teacher who's dedicated

123to helping our kids science Americans love science success School ambassadors of the Cris all year long this year so that's the advanced core reading that is like an important step for all of our schools it's all agree with this International school-wide math goal that's also new for us where I was taken back by our math results good understanding essential math our students also having expressing their thinking about to expand their thinking and fluency that goes back to planning also this year not only do I have a mouthful we have a new partner gncp we had a visit a week or two ago with Kendall Brianna streaming collaborative very hopeful with their feedback to us using a focus teaching rubric so that's new also this year the teaching program and they had us doing well with

124cultural learning social content went well as well we had an academic ownership the demonstration was right that's where they want us to focus so we're excited about that and I want to send us to talk about the ambassadors and I'm not a president in Tennessee board members similarly to the other elementary schools we are also implementing the ambassador's strategy with our math and language arts classrooms however since we have a dedicated science teacher at Rose Hill we're also working to create science ambassadors in fifth grade students Associated subject area on CPAP and these ambassadors are going to be selected using our first unit assessment it's really new and promising approach to addressing student achievements science that we're very proud of and excited for it at Rose Hill our dedicated ELD teachers are actively planning and

125delivering rigorous language opportunities and collaborating with our homeroom teachers on our school-wide writing goal and to measure this growth and to provide that teacher Clarity for differentiation our ELD teachers are also selecting ELD ambassadors for each grade level so that we can continue those conversations not only in our poor constant areas but also for our emotionally Bush developments at Roseville new this year we also are using a digital platform to report assessment notes and observations of ambassadors on a weekly basis we have focused our data protocols or plc's on analyzing student ambassador work to identify success us Trend staffs and teacher moves to address those steps we also as an administrator team have carved out the first 15 minutes of our work day each morning to conduct Ambassador check-ins make sure that we know the

126data before leaving plcs with our teachers and also before doing uh so to be clear for digging deeper it's a great question to I think the former winner asked if we are working on these ours are still in draft we're going to support the district as well with Stephanie and other people our team have said it as well just it just takes a while to build a plan like this but it's something that is really important we know that you know that I wanted to make it a true action plan to what we're actually doing let's be clear it's about reading special purpose I mentioned that last year last year I said reading is important absolutely that's going to work well for us so it's right I'll never forget when we had like 12 fifth

127graders ask me April District Moss why was there so much writing on sequence it all last so they were like oh it was so hard because of the rice so just one of those things where um this is something that his name is also now like you mentioned that's another way of reach our kids rigorous math opportunities so those are the two strategies with mbcriot that continues as well we just have a lot of focus areas that are making a difference for our kids so that's our progress for this school year if you guys have any questions thank you Middle School hi good evening Dr Lauria I'm Adam president of Lovato and members of the board I'm Jennifer Lindberg and I'm here this evening on behalf of Adams City Middle School the Adams City Middle

128School strives to align our daily student and staff experience with that of the academic goals identified in the Adam's 14th Playbook goal number one uh 90 to 100 of core content tests are from approved to curriculum and or aligned with Colorado state standards in our uip we have identified that acms staff will engage in content-specific collaboratively collaborative weekly planning and preparation using student-facing materials this planning will ensure that we're using the district approved curriculum and teachers are focused on the student experience keeping that in mind with rigorous and grade level content the goal of one and a half years growth on Star and Ela math currently our math our staff collaborates with our colleagues at Kearney Middle School to ensure alignment in data and instructional systems would recognize this collaborative partnership as crucial to much

129of the success and the momentum that we experienced last year specifically growth in our math department but we have identified the need this year for additional collaboration among the current acms staff this collaboration will include vertical planning to conduct analysis of content specific data data to support in developing scaffolds differentiation data initiatives to improve the overall learner experience so really utilizing the expertise within our building within those specific content areas to support the new staff we have in our building with the veteran teachers that we also have retained um goal number three 40 meets or exceeds on CMS for students in literacy and math we believe that by supporting high quality instruction in every classroom every day we will increase student engagement and performance we will also measure the daily student experience so professional learning

130will focus specifically on a co-teaching Model to utilize a veteran teacher and support staff that we have available um we will build strong structures and instructional routines to support a culture of learning scaffolding and differentiated instructional strategies for all students anchored in our student ambassadors and monitoring their progress we will also be planning and preparing for engaging students in rigorous learning including planned structured language development extensive writing prompts and then student discourse was focusing on students really carrying the cognitive load in the classroom we will conduct our regular walkthroughs with observations including bite-sized actionable feedback for teachers to improve a lot of modeling for our new staff members learning walks to include targeted classrooms with teachers who are exemplary and a certain skill or a classroom culture that they have established and also support with

131instruction based in student strengths and developing again that rigorous learning environment finally attendance at 95 is our goal we are currently not quite there we are working hard to establish a positive behavior intervention and support system with our within our building um our focus is on student and teacher voice in developing that Pro um that PBIS system to ensure buy-in and ownership and getting everyone on board um and getting students to school and making their experience at school a positive learning environment I know that was brief and quick and to the point and I'd like to answer any questions that you may have at this time [Music] so okay thank you um I appreciate the PBIS system having um you know voice I think that's critically important specifically in the 6-12 setting my one dream

132is if in your major Improvement strategies for your employee you are also taking into consideration um for sort of Justice um and other I guess proactive systems and structures to address the um the 49.23 of UK residents reported because if we're thinking about the rigor and the instruction if we don't have the students um after we engaged feeling safe coming into welcoming environments um you know just different I guess barriers that might exist um then we can create all the major Improvement strategies around rigor but we'll never get there so I guess my my question is just around um how or if you've thought about um sour or other type of proactive family communities that will address let me jump in here so um one thing we're working on at Adam's middle school right now

133is we're working on kind of taking the stock at some of the reasons that you're alluding to the director Estrada um we've uh Dr Josh Cochran and myself and Jen have um all been super present in the United States Middle School's work as a week and I've done a lot of resetting of student behaviors to try to make classroom environments as supportive as possible and to your point right we left that conversation around some of those Behavior Jam points but a lot of things too don't be curious about um so we we have we have some plans in place to do a tackle that are some immediate and short-term plans to try to clear some of those behavior issues that we want to try to solve for our students so they should have a positive

134experience we want to do that really fast so like you said students can have that instructional experience that we know they need to have in order to have achieved benefits so that's there's there's some short-term planning that we're trying to do right now as a team to try to try to keep those symptoms they're talking about uh kids I would also say that restorative practices are something that have been in place and are in place they continue to be in place at Adam City Middle School we emphasize building relationships with those students and really go so far as to make sure that every student in the building has a staff member that they can build a positive relationship with so so every Everybody in the building has a trusted adult that they can go to

135at any time foreign [Music] culture at the school and we are also we actually have to get together we had another meeting today specifically to the instructors and support systems we will have a a designated person that will be supporting specifically when you're addressing around practices and we just we're hired an individual to come and support the district with pbas positive behavior systems or social practices District Library against the the need and that President will be dedicated to Odyssey Middle School because although practices may have been in place with your results right so the research the Dr Schneider was talking about is very true as far as retraining new Administration students I'm having a um truly a research I don't know what I had a lot of ways to say um or or helping students

136you know there are different classifications but also to your goals understanding that we are expected schools suspending students um not least the first um alternative that they go to I'm not saying that but suspended students resource foreign and that's my question because I have been through your apps what percent of the principal's office because she asked for more work that eventually so my question is how many of these how many of these issues that we're seeing because we don't have support and we have a lot of long-term subscribe to meet that support um specific numbers we do realize that there is [Music] um we're hiding the school is having struggles with the Staffing right with the students which has not had enough staff we have long-term substitutes of course there's going to be additional struggles

137to the schools however we also know that um we were having a very same conversation last year about discipline in million discipline specific um so um I I do believe um in one of the areas that they mentioned about the culture is right on point we need to address the cultural points at all levels student expectations like some of the other schools have mentioned you know this is [Music] um environment where they you know push each other and they can all support each other it's really needed as a student and um so specifically just because it's teachers out I know that my um student discipline but I also know it's not the only one this is not an outlier this year I just wanted to um now what we're having right now because I think

138um is that you're absolutely right start checking the call mindset around student behavior and um yes acknowledgment there are external factors of training our students long-term success um so I appreciate you mentioning that a few times um this one we're gonna have one quick question I I do appreciate the collaboration that I always want to comment um that Island City Middle School or working together um did you mention student ambassadors in your plans we are yes I did okay writing a bit here awesome thank you any other questions or comments good evening Madam president distinguished members of the board superintendent Maria thank you for this opportunity to expect great things that you're doing at Prairie Middle School my name is Tom Selen crowd principal Community Middle School career assistant principal let's see Kearney has always

139really thrived on taking students where they're at and showing approach with them and helping them improve academically that can be seen in our school performance framework this past year where we've met expectations and growth for Math and we're approaching in language arts now while we are showing growth we are still striving to improve improved with that in mind we have two major Improvement strategies that we believe in our committee that helped us come to these major Improvement strategies believe will impact student achievement first one as you mentioned earlier you've been here some consistency is around high quality tier one instruction we need to make sure that our first instruction is really at Great level and rigorous and is pushing students to think and be able to uh show what they know we are in year

140one we now have curriculum across our four major content areas which so thrilled about we are in year one of our social studies curriculum we're in year two of our science curriculum and then in math and language arts we're going into years three and four and so with that in mind we have really thought about what the components of the curriculum and what tasks within the curriculum that we want students to really be exposed to and solving and working through so that we are really pushing them to think and putting the ownership on the students we don't want the teachers teaching we know the teachers have passed Middle School we really want our students to show what they know so that um that we can take that information as teachers and staff and adjust our

141instruction to filling those gaps so that then they can reach those great numbers continue to build off of best practices we do and thank you to the support from the district but we've had taken our infrastructure and backers plan from that and using that backwards plan we have a unit assessment that is basically that is from the curriculums with that human assessment that we create and collaborate with Adam City Middle School as well teachers to create and select weekly common formative assessments that are given to our students on a weekly basis those common formative assessments are then used in our data team meetings which we are you that we analyze on a weekly basis to see where our students are being successful as well as what maybe next steps we need to re-teach and think

142about how to approach and fill in those gaps from that daily instruction as I said we were really strategic about one question from the curriculum so that we can make sure that along can't just expect teachers to do it right we need to teach what we mean what we want our teachers to be able to do and what we expect our students to do so we have been specific professional development for our staff we're on the Essential Elements of instruction especially around do now is right we want to maximize our instructional designs and transition from home to classroom is immediate there's no downtime like we are maximizing Federal instruction uh our content learning objectives as I mentioned we want our students talking about the content but we want to make sure that we're structured way

143so that they remain on task and are able to access it right and that can be through sentence range and different protocols that we have provided our staff my instructional leadership team and I we also conduct weekly observational walkthroughs as well which is provides of the ms-14 Playbook and really thinking about collecting data to see where are we thriving and also where are our gaps right what supports do we need to provide and using that to then guide our future professional development as well we do have some we have had some staff turnover so we have some new staff in the building we have some stuff on intensive coaching Cycles as well where coaches are planning with them observing with them decreasing with them and that is all of our instructional leadership team that is

144doing that if our coaching is in the Moment Like right there like as we're in classrooms here exactly the moment feedback the other is decreasing afterwards coming up collaboratively coming up with that next step and so that we all understand and take ownership over those next week so the last thing around high quality zero one instruction is we have a lot of great experts in our building too and we want to learn from each other we think the best professional development sometimes can be just like going to connected to our classroom and really highlighting the great things that are happening is that we can see and teach others how to make answers I'm going to have Mr Cabrera speak about our second future [Music] so one of the major things that we've had to this

145year from previous years is kind of narrowed our focus a little bit from having a continuous Improvement around shared accountability really focusing on differentiated language supports and so we've seen um you know historically have had a high number of language Learners within our building but we see that there's some opportunity here to really make conscious effort and make a larger impact on this from the students and just have some solid instruction across your building so you know some of the recent things that we've been doing and you know that sometimes they hear things but you have a folder a black folder that has a couple things that we're going to share with you as well so you've done specific Beauty around some different language functions we established collaboratively with teachers as well as our instructional

146coach um specific to ELD around the Olympic function outline and we're having very specific sense of time throughout the year but we're focusing on different language functions so if you look at kind of the cause effect and sequencing language uh that's within your folders We are having a specific PD around these are the first two so we've done PB around sequencing language and haven't done some observational walkthrough and see how that's being implemented within classrooms and now we're checking into our next thing to function with our own cosmet background and our goal is that students see that this language is is probably not just in their plg classrooms but in all classrooms um and hopefully we'll get to a higher elevated use of academic language with our students as we notice that while our students

147are answering answering questions sometimes they're using overload language to answer that so this is a one of our efforts to really support that higher level language and make it consistent across results yeah the last thing we want to discuss is our processor of ambassadors as well which you will see in your folder as well we used we had good for me teachers we have each teacher select 10 ambassadors and so with that in mind uh 40 teachers times 10 we have about 400 students identified the teachers are monitoring yes there is some overlap across different teachers some teachers may have the same ambassadors but when you think about the overall percentage we are looking at close to 40 over 40 of our students that are really being monitored closely in monetary for your observation feedback

148so when we come into classrooms there's this paper in there that kind of shows you which core the student ambassadors are in as well as what level they're currently performing at along with their pictures so that people go to them directly teachers in their classroom also have a seating chart where they have a starred investors where when we go in we can grab that and just take a look and check in with those investors directly as well and then every Tuesday and Wednesday uh contents you'll see our data analysis our weekly data team template that we use here and so this is that common formative assessment not only are we monitoring the entire class just to see like that bigger picture we also are looking specifically at the student work of our ambassadors and looking

149at what are the successes as I mentioned earlier as well as what are those next steps so that we can really targeting strategies I think director Zubia detect me as comments it's about humanizing data and so having our teachers select these students have to picture with them have them identify it on their senior chart so that we can check in specifically with those students is a way that we are trying to do it um just for everyone's approvision at the end we will need the Ambassador information very cool we just wanted to make sure there is that visual to go with that for sure and um we're open to any questions you may have I have a quick question oh sorry um and this is regarding the community engagement um I was born this might

150also go to Valencia middle school because you might remember me chasing my child um it's one of my concerns always was the community engagement and the anti-bullying which is you know you know you have many students but one of my my child was considered not one but she didn't want to go to school um and then as far as the community engagement because I don't feel I was really my kid is now in high school and I don't feel she was believing with her right um of course she was uh no health issues and you know a lot of people no more information before um but um I was not really engaged or invited into um you know there's not a lot of parent engagement my question was I mean I did see I did

151hear um you know some of the student engagement a little bit but as far as the parent I believe the whole child includes the parents and this goes fine for everyone I did not hear myself included as a parent I did not hear myself in any of your presentations um because uh as students uh and as parents the students our children listen to their parents seventy percent of you know what they're their opinion and their people bear their parents um and it's very important you know that we are included uh for example I do have a mandatory meeting with my senior tomorrow and he was like very like Mom just I don't care what you stop what you're doing you're gonna go and I will I'm gonna go whatever I'm doing I have to go

152because it's important to him and it's important to me but again um I feel that my junior was a little bit um cheated up right she was not prepared and she's still facing a lot of issues in high school right now so again my question is as far as Community engagement how are you engaging the engage with the parents uh to knock out some of the attendance issues absolutely it is 100 a partnership right we need to be working together to be able to support our students this is not a school can do it or Americans has to be working collectively and I think having those avenues for any creating that welcoming environment making sure parents do feel comfortable we have different events as well where we are talking with the principal in the morning

153we have our PTO meetings we have our sack meetings but one thing that we're really proud of this year is we are really uh we have increased largely the number of home visits we are conducting as well just to meet families where they are as well as we are starting to see some of the concerns right they come up with students at middle school we want to help support families and be able to make those Partnerships and there could be resources through the academics but it's it's finding out what our families need how we can support and sometimes meeting our families at their homes instead of coming into the building right and so that we can definitely open up that communication I would just say that the pandemic did slow down a little bit of

154our momentum around trying to build the school and make center for the community in terms of some of our PBIS events that we hadn't really person that kind of got solved a little bit but it is coming back so every single order we have some different parent opportunities for for engagement not necessarily always academic Focus but just let's be together as a community so we are trying to build our community with our parents and collaborative Partnerships in a variety of different ways as well as utilizing learning resources of our Student Success coordinator as well and that's been a big piece in being able to increase our amount of home visits that we're doing as well as just the increased communication and collaboration with parents around some of our students that have been struggling to either

155with academics attendance or behavior of award multiple multiple pieces thank you I just had a quick follow-up question um you mentioned a little bit about how it was cared towards the population of students you have um what are your vendors for that I'm looking at access growth United relations what are you using so we definitely use access data to support that in identify where students are currently at whether in 3D practice and then and then differentiate our supports based on those uh where students performance was on access but once again um some of the language supports are beneficial to all students and then our other folks areas of structured students are students as well as looking at their writing samples in our common formative assessments we are we're tracking these uh specific language and like

156the function steps and things and Signal Works in their writing as well as conversations as we're doing our observations I guess I was just trying to understand how how you would measure this and know if you were successful or not implemented thinking about like is that access point that you're looking at and saying oh this is um I mean I don't know a certain percentages absolutely that is the benefit of the access test is we do get that data this year so we are able to see the impact of our work yeah thank you [Music] Chris Garcia principal at Panama City High School and I want to give something but Tom and Nathan Jessica they're stuck together and also give you a chance to step up so now your team starts very very early but

157um first of all I want to discover some victories in Madam president team members of War Dr Maria and to our uh family members uh just really thankful to have this time we'll try to be real brief and very succinct about some things that maybe you need to do it but um this this coming year last year were 85 or 84.6 graduation rate this this coming year this last graduating bus 85.3 so we have what's really different is the last few years we've been above the state average and graduation contained some very strong people we've seen a lot of great families and kids I feel like we really focused on that first level of need with our with our whole school Community like that care uh respect and support and just being there was a

158giant Challenge and we're honestly the last two years I think that's that's something that we really focused on which I think kept our really quality people at our school including our classified staff but also that's where that jumping graduation was right we followed that through and and never gave up until the end of the summer and that's why it's 85.3 that's that's 11 in five years giant amount so I think we've addressed that piece about that Maslow's unique part like we're going to be there until you graduate proving that we want to make sure you're safe we've proven that and we will continue to do so now our challenges in in quality instruction tier one instruction and then being driven by data now we connect the success rate and graduation and improve our academic performance

159right that's where our disconnected so that's why you see those two goals and in a live document you'll be able to get into those um and see the things that I feel I mean the reasons we're at high quality everyone instruction and being driven by data that culture of data Improvement instruction but those are some things I want you to have and and to the point of uh parent involvement uh this year our our first sack meeting we had 10 parents seven uh Spanish league parents three bilingual and I have to give credit such Isabella and the classified staff at Easton herself but they fully endorsed our our goals uh approved our budget and has some really hard questions which were amazing I mean it was one of the best ones I've ever been a

160part of and this is very excited about that um I'm excited about the rest of the restoration of our accreditation um I'm excited about our culinary work in academies our our staff committee fully endorsed and we're also very excited about the academy Direction they can't really they wanted to start so very excited about that new things for our school school across the board school-wide writing rumors we serve constructed response to essay extender writing all the way to exit tickets we're going to actually have a Boston board consistency in that large Workforce staff uh doing that re-establishing mtss and pisfoa three years ago um you have to have that it has to be robust so I have quality people starting that one I also have quality people that believe it and also are qualified to establish

161restorative practices and I love that character so I brought that up because there's a distinction between restorative justice right that's the that's the reactive for their cause and restorative practice which is that full-on social uh commitment and I think we're committed that and that falls right in line with what we the work we've been doing around trying to build a positive effective accountable relationships with our kids so I'm excited about the restorative practices work that we we're starting and I think we're going to really make some strikes and track that with mtss and pbas and then with our attendance discipline numbers so I'm really excited to see where our staff can take that free brand new off-track credit counselors from last year uh we had four but one of them moved into uh an internship

162was one of our counselors um former grad right amazing great people counseling department and those contract counselors in Manchester they're amazing home visits calls pyramids we've got senior meeting tonight with 350 parents and that's because of those people so super excited about that uh the clarity and support and the positive energy from tntp in our district leadership we have skilled people that bring a lot of energy and they walk the walk they support us through everything that is an absolutely new Endeavor and deciding for us having a Playbook that makes sense but also really holds itself animals is a very hard work we're excited about that it's scary but we're excited um and meeting our staff where they're at like trying to meet the staff um where they're at in professional development we started doing

163not just Ed Camp style where the staff is self-selected the PD that they need this year we did a walk-in PE model around June apps where we borrowed about 25 minutes of their plan time across content areas just based on their planning the schedule where they came in and we shared what we have learned from tntp in the district around Quality House um ask our staff to come in and bring examples give your critiques and ensure best practices so at the end of the day we have about 25 elements identified by our staff that work and they learn they could learn from someone in their period in a different discipline because they have that idea so those things are doing different um last couple of things I think obviously tier one instruction and better instruction

164you know the complex grade level text grade level material material and students doing the work not the staff the students can work the only way we're going to get there with academic that's even integrals so that's why those two goals are there I think we move some people in and our building I'm super excited about administrative team um they're talented and they're in key positions and I think we lose some people out there at the level that we needed so I'm excited so um this documentary live will make sure you get to share to you I know director Lovato um have all come out from school um so you you know what we're trying to do um and keep visiting keep all this accountable and everybody else is going to make it great we love

165to have you but I think we're doing the right work for the right reasons and we don't have the time anymore it's got you got to make the move this year and then put a lot of connection you have any questions um I I wonder these these were the same two strategies that we had last year in our UI series um have you identified um I think it's great that we have increased our graduation rates so dramatically but I know we've talked about um supporting students opportunities is one of our board goals and I know we're important economies and programs like Inspire in Europe and things like that but I I'm curious as to how we can dig into our um and support our post-secondary and Workforce Readiness because that is part of our State

166performance rating but just just to secure updates around that and then um to possibly read about it you absolutely sure but you know last year we had upper Range Community College credit right and then we've had 650 graduates [Music] so while they can share that from last year this year and track our progress in there we've added more programs on the CT side you know the struggle is the quality staff but we've done a fantastic job I mean that monthly at least I'll share that with you I think the piece that will help us is that student facing rubric across the board something that I think is unique to us it the success criteria for the teachers are listed right and and for living on the student demonstration of learning faster so I love the

167clarity of that and it actually helps us the ambassadors heads home when you put names and faces and in our case it's 86 teachers right and they're picking 12 ambassadors based on a schedule about am a PM and odd and even things we have 12 sold nearly a thousand or a little over a thousand but you know somewhere around 8 to 900 if you listen to that's that's a lot of it just as mom said you could really contract those kids and really connect I think that's when we have an adventure that stuff did you connect with it so now we have to connect that to academic learning right and we'll tell them available staff it's not more work it's better work around instruction and you have to be better supporters of that so I

168think I think great and and not only data I just think it really helps um we need to celebrate and highlight these amazing things that our students are doing um because I don't think we do enough of that and I'm floored every time or a walk-in 13. any other schools the students are just so eager to talk about you know the great things that are happening but we stick to the data yeah and the kids do it for us so yeah we do have to be better about that thank you very much foreign High School I'd like to bring the latest school performance rating for restaurant High School to attention from 37.4 percent of possible points replacing some priority Improvement category on the school performance framework the current framework that just came out near 58.6

169possible points and moved us into the approval category if we have received an additional 1.2 points overall we would have been in performance rate those we believe our success with the results of placing the great deal of emphasis on rivers great level instruction using high quality curriculum this is a direct response to foreign I came into this wall a few years ago I I don't know what's that for teachers when we talked about our expectations for grade level Construction because it was always a comment that our kids are different they come to us over agent but and uh we have to do things differently well I agree with it still leads to random content Earth resistance was uh not wanting to practice level professional development for teachers our coursework is designed and we design our

170enforcement to two different but we still can we put a level of content uh efficiency so I think we're telling that so our plan this year is to build on previous years success by following through with what we started uh and doing it veterans times following the atoms of 14 academic Playbook our teachers are using at the same time keep refining their lesson plans our teachers are becoming more familiar with and visited using the important we're making sure the teachers are being gentle about buying applying best practices from the moments students walk into the door to further Ado now haven't just finished a potential understanding that you know continue to work on improving how we analyze student work and I will continue to elevate academic discourse in the classroom be sure to have people focus

171on these major Improvement strategies strategy number one is delivering rigorous first time grade level instruction steps will include continuous monitoring Improvement in planning first time exposure that emphasizes good outcomes as opposed to teacher actions that restaurant we have 30 minutes per day four days a week dedicated to this one because an area that we will emphasize more this year is decreased student engagement the classroom discourse with emphasis on using grade level academically this is important for both our native English speakers as well as our second languages we'll do this through intentional planning providing feedback our second strategy will be to apply a protocol for identifying and addressing running depths I'd like to hand out a are today so you can see what it looks like in the teacher's hands who our action steps to improve

172teachers having identified ambassadors for his performance band in our classroom based on Smart scores from the beginning year of the Year assessment teachers will use this data along with informal classroom observation of progress monitoring methods to identify me through their students and forms multiple construction plan attention on specific learning activities which is Ambassador they'll then use the same intervention for all students in the same performance chat they will be used in the storage personal planning class report and that's what this is it's just one page I think was like a nine page so I just took a snapshot of it they will use this to identify specifically what students in that performance band need so this identifies uh the median or loss in our highest score within that band this is for reading uh medium

173percentage of where those students are uh this report hasn't lost to those students names I left that part out um and I think it's important to see how this looks in the classroom uh for reading this group has identified outside the storm Renaissance has identified these skills as being the starting course starting commercial planning and um which we'll see is like the key ideas and details for example uh grade seven standards that have the uh some of them that have a little black people next to it these are identified as Focus skills that um the uh the ones we want to use in the classroom so I'm asking every teacher to be able to look at this for their uh Ambassador codewords uh the grand gentle light green activities for uh in our classroom that

174addresses we want we do know activities we might be small group interactions it might be built into the regular content level planning for the day the teachers I relying their professionals to be able to know and we're kind of why these in our classes so I just thought I think that was important for you to see what it looks like to the teacher's hand s um so that is our third uh Improvement strategy um which will be to improve less tomorrow and completion and attendance Ways by establishing system to support students in career and post-secondary planning research illustrates that when students are engaged in learning activities that are connected to their lives and what they've learned in their future and try to be more motivated to be in school every day and follow through with

175learning activities so we're lucky to have a congratulations company coordinator who's a former Adam City graduate uh working for us full-time she's already made uh almost and she said 75 contact with 75 of our seniors to get to know them introduce yourself let her know what your role is she's establishing a database to find out what you're looking to start with your experience and where they might end up after high school so that we can plan specific activities that might be guest speakers it might be field trips anywhere to support them and then for students to achieve their post-secondary and also she's planning uh monthly return meetings um so everyone Adam said he had the other day to talk about uh posted grid planning including things like Philadelphia forms and college applications so I thank

176you for your time and I would like answering the questions working together when it comes to the kids having geography to take advantage of those easy courses and any of the other courses that are happening at the hospital um I just don't see enough of that and I've just been wondering if that's part of the coordinators um position now or how is that um coming together because I know in the past year we've asked about Transportation yes it is no it's not so now I'm like what is it how is it that you guys are meshing together to help support those students that can be utilize and really think advantage of those successful because that's the whole point of they're not separate as a whole who still want those kids to have that opportunity some

177of the issues involved there are typical CTE pathway program at Adam City maybe you started as it is not great for them to be able to fall through and finish the whole process we don't get these students until they're sometimes years sometimes seniors and you're already done to correct so our task is to try to fill deficits in their learning uh bring them up to grade level standard in their uh proficiency from in their content classes and um still support them in their identified goals and their their future so when we know students are already involved in the CTE pathway program at the city will do everything we can to support that and allow them to go back uh and see if they're part of the data groups on people down the street and attend

178those classes we had a cohort master that did this I believe successful I think immediately uh not sure what that number is this year um CTE leadership so I think some of the coordination may have founded the website but it's definitely on our radar as we look at our future uh what our future looks like in terms of academic or on campus I'm sorry Atlanta City High School and our our uh ability to support that that's definitely one of the things that we're going to uh being worked very hard the intentional about planning and making that happen so um we haven't installed all the problems uh we're working on it and we're open to suggestions uh every year our population of students change meaning you might identify a handful of kids that are interested in

179a particular career pathway with The Graduate we've only had them for about a year maybe two years at the most and it's hard to support them if they're not already started we've we've started discussing ways that we can work on focusing on that on like the opportunities more so right now the great relationship is dropout rate has decreased for four years in a flat 3.4 of these last two years but it was as high as seven five on seven so we have that part solved and his under credit issue is a challenge um and we've done one awesome kids like the four or five from last year were kids that we knew were in that interest path that we made it happen now we have to just make it more of a systemized approach which

180I think we have some pretty good ideas in the times that we've been able to talk so we'll have it planet of Europe my brother and members of the board um Schneider because that is this is actually the topic of conversation during the meeting we're connected and how to extend those opportunities not only to students and as Leicester Arnold potential proximity of the students with one another but also expanding it to the middle school so to [Music] um transpoint presumably awareness Point sorry um we can start supporting students earlier so Dr Schneider oh yeah I think what I wanted to highlight is um are deeply engaged in some really rigorous pathway design work over basically fours three to four hour sessions on the months of August and September in the evenings and there's some really

181Innovative and flexible thinking around what the Western Arnold model might look like that way students have the utmost flexibility as we go to the academies approach to be able to go in and out of some of those of those programs there's some logistical models in this concept right like we're working on it but we're having some really exciting things to share with you in the coming weeks about what that work is going to look like and how we can maximize it's that actually has a library customer service the same opportunities for years and years we've been talking about this over and over again where are those systems what's the breakdown and often what do we need to do to make sure that that happens because we you know the real news is what's going on

182personally opportunity the new models we're thinking about are still on rough draft mode and I really believe [Music] excited thank you all for making them nervous thank you very much um yeah this includes our presentation a moment to be able to thank our school year is this please please pass along our appreciations our school leaders have been working on the current District staff since the street of 2022 our unified Improvement friend work will continue throughout the school year through each school's identified School accountability committees as identified in the state statutes in addition to their leadership team and District leadership teams at our next board meeting on October 11th there will be a superintendent's recommendation for the approval of all district uip's and the schools this recommendation is provided to ask the board due to our

183District's turnaround status once approved we will continue to work through the Colorado Department of education's online system to submit all uip's by the state Department's deadline on October 25th unified Improvement plans um board I just want to also ask about the keys um personal [Music] um they're differentiation right amongst the schools although you've probably heard that the U.S is appear to be similar to what is different issue in the nutshell we want to get um in our age again very good at two things number one monitoring students and that will bring a little the differences of all students and the most needs because what do you monitoring a student we're not monitoring necessarily the same things but monitoring to help the students making problems based on the needs so that will bring the piece of

184the differentiation however the structures that we're putting in place and with support of TNT is how to get ready for their monitoring and once you're um teachers and we're actually practicing that we're calibrating as a Cabinet as a member I was actually with a few um three or four schools between yesterday and today um with the principal and um just calibrating on that feedback so that will bring the differentiation and I hope that you because I think that you're asking um a little bit of you know they all seem so similar these two IPS but yes physicals are so different right so again to see what our ideas to be getting good at that entrepreneurial students and the other piece that we're looking at is um very good at that tier one instruction you hear

185that a lot and that basically means the first time students hear that from the future there's the tier one you know their first time instruction um at the greatness um and then from that breakdown instruction we're going to go to scaffolding those or maybe um that are actually supposed to get there or accelerating our students um so um the last ask that I heard from the feedback that I heard in your questions is you are very interested in how our viewers are being very specific on are engaging parents not only uh engagement of the approval of the unity but throughout the year how to re-engage them Partners other children's education so those two pieces I've heard we're going to bring it out to um on that it will continue to have touching them because they

186basically have about three weeks thank you expenses maybe just how are we building the trust I guess that's a little Community yeah um [Music] there is a need for an executive session I move that the Board of Education session relative property CRS 2460 legal advice is writing accountabilities CRS 246 4024b District security and CRS 24 6 402-483 personal Personnel contract negotiation may I have a sentence hi thank you all for joining us this evening thank you
