One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Motion approved. [Music] Motion to approve. Second. >> Second. >> Discussion. No discussion. Submit. This is not to me saying I'm not getting a pop up. >> This is one of the consent agenda items, but I'm not getting all of them. I'm just going to make >> vote. Uh I >> John Brown's eye >> is not on so >> approval of Minnesota the July 14th 2025 regular Moving right along three public comment concerns USB 244 patron concern J appreciate that we'll look for another communications [Music] Uh, you're up. >> Um, well, my report is really short. Um, but lots of people have been in the building. Get ready. Um, everyone's looking to stay pretty consistent. Um, preschool's overflow. That was one of the items I
mentioned there. We're really class. Um, overflowing a few kids up to the morning class. Um, so that might be a bigger conference class another year or we are getting them all now. Um but yeah, looking forward to a great year. Lots of new staff or changes in the building this year. So um the most change staff wise we've had probably since I've been here. >> So the enrollment numbers look about the same. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Any more questions regarding uh I don't really have anything to add. I would say every teachers been in at least once so far. Um you go into fifth and sixth grade, they're pretty much ready. >> Yeah. >> Um very much ready. Rooms look good. >> Um we have eight different staff members in different positions. So I did
add that cuz there's quite a few changes there. Taylor coming over from the high school, Maddie going in the student success coordinator position that will be uh the counseling position when she finishes. and she is doing a phenomenal job. Um, especially with the Skyward changes and things like that. Uh, she's really hit the ground running. So, that's been great to have. Other than that, I don't I would say right now we've lost four kids and probably gained eight so far. >> Four. >> Now, I I haven't done the pluses and minuses. The ones that went to 8th grade, that will be freshman. And then for what you said, but just for the students that we have, we have quite a list. So >> did you say Maddie's position is that dependent on her getting her
counseling? >> She will she will be halfway done in December. >> Just the job title change based on her degree. Okay. >> Yep. That was a suggestion from KSD is to make it that >> the the student success coordinator and then there's certain things that she can and cannot handle. All right. We're at the middle school report. >> I do have two uh questions. Looking here, looks like we have some new curriculum coming. The curriculum revision. >> Uh they'll be doing curriculum work starting tomorrow. >> Yeah. So those could be some new new pieces with that. >> Is that going to do you see like any high impact on our reports for that? I know previously we talked about math being a subject. I don't know if it was in all it just says. Is
that affecting everybody or is that >> Yes. So that will be K through math will be K through 12. Okay. So the first day of both math and science all teachers of math and all teachers of science will be there. Okay. >> And so then after that just the subject area ahead will be there for that time. So they're actually going through and rewriting um and adding or taking away anything that needs to be done based on state standards. It's not like a drastic change that's going to affect our data at the end. >> Shouldn't be should be a huge change. Very revisionary. And then the second thing I wanted to talk about is the HIPS impact instructional strategies. Sounds like a really good plan for for the teachers, right? To have those practices with
the students. It'd be nice if we could get some data, you know, that or at least for you anyways to say, "Hey, you got this training. How did this training help you implement something a strategy in the classroom that was very noticeable to the student, right? That's that's why we're doing it and I think it'd be good to >> it's not just a program we're going to go and attend, right? It should be it'd be nice to get some data that's going to use it and this is how >> what they really what they really talk about is it's it's you have time in the morning that's training and then you build in time in the afternoon for those lesson plans to be created to to complete. That's it. Okay. Any other questions? >> I
didn't submit a report, but I will just tell you that uh we've already had eight nine days of training in the stud department. Um so our staff loves me. Um but they've all been back a lot and it was really good training on specially designed instruction for our kids. Um they were great participants ready to go ready to roll it out to admin and gened and like they want this all to happen now but you know it's a process. Um we are currently 17 parish short. Um we are going to have tables at all back to school nights in Burlington and 243 to try to recruit people. What buildings are what buildings are >> um BES BMS BHS are the most that's 14 of the 17 >> and I saw we had some transfer out
from here. >> Yeah, we had some people removed and it wasn't transferred because I mean one literally move from Lebo so it went there. >> Okay. Well, thank you Leslie. Can you question please get your stuff done? >> We we're still on day now day 11 of what they thought was last 3 days. Uh I thought three was uh cutting it pretty quick to get our whole network changed over. But maybe four or five, but you know, we're on day 11. We're getting a lot closer. things are things are you know with each day more and more getting done and and everything's running fairly smoothly as as much as it can. Um as for uh online enrollment today uh when I looked at about 11:30 this morning we were at about 94% of all students
are enrolled. So that was a big jump from um last Wednesday I think was in my written report. So we're at um right at 94 almost 95% probably 95 if you rounding. So, um, so that's going real well >> and I have to give them lots of kudos cuz with all of our inservice, we had lots of tech stuff and we had guest speakers in and everything and they worked their tails off to make sure that we could still run and go um, and do everything we needed to and it was stressful for them um, even more than us. But just kudos to Craig, Courtney, Lina. They were there spending lots of hours making sure we were ready to go. Craig couldn't describe things. >> Trying to Well, thanks for your work. Also, >> Craig,
have we um I assume we have this on this uh food services thing with it being individually based versus family based. Have we I mean, I assume all the parents have been notified of that and go up with their enrollment packages. >> It was in the enrollment packet. It's also been on Facebook. Um yeah. >> Okay. been on Facebook several times. Yeah, it I mean it's a different I mean quite frankly a lot of school districts were like oh you do families still you know we've been doing individuals it's you know uh lot you know they say it was when they transitioned like 5 10 years ago how much better it actually was in the long run um for for their management of of especially when you have mixed families uh and that so uh
each person having their own account it I mean it's something to get used to um but it is fairly easy I mean when they log in I mean they just have to specify you know if you're going to put 100 on your account I want 50 on this kid and 50 on this kid or this kid eats a lot more so I want 80 on this kid and 20 on this kid. So, remind me again, I think we've talked about this in the past, is this does to me look like kind of an error trap, at least early in the school year. What is the policy if a kid shows up and does not have money in their account? We have something set up to eat a sandwich or something. >> Again, they have to
be so many dollars over their account. >> I can't remember what the exact dollar figure is, but uh so there's leeway is the point they're trying to make and then they pass the leeway, then there's still another step beyond that. >> Yeah. >> Yes. >> Okay. Another question, Greg. Was that a change because of Opa or just cuz we're way behind? >> No, this is this is a change actually in the new Skyward cumulative. They don't even offer family based accounting uh for food service anymore. >> Um they are looking to maybe add it in the future, but it was like it it wasn't going to be ready by now. and once you go to it, there would be really shouldn't be a reason to go back to it in a year or two from
now. I I wouldn't think. Um so, uh it's just kind of one of the things that um it had to be. Yeah. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you, Greg. >> Greg, >> gotcha. First day of school is coming up Monday, August 18th. Uh we will have a kickoff uh whole uh district assembly at the high school. Uh if you want to, you can join us for breakfast or for lunch or both. Um we will have catered lunch uh that Monday from Dy's barbecue and we have a really good keynote speaker Mark Potter uh will be here and his wife and Annette are a husband wife team. They are former educators um teachers, coaches, they've got a really good message to share. Uh so anyway, that's the first day on Monday and then Tuesday, you guys are
all invited because OPA will be feeding our staff in each building. You can join in any of the buildings. They will be feeding our staff uh on Tuesday for lunch. And so you're more than welcome to join us um for a Tuesday lunch if you can make it. Uh first day of school is Thursday, August 21st. And as the building principles talked about, we got a lot of staff getting ready, getting busy, uh, ahead of time. And, uh, so we're looking forward to August 21st been a terrific year. So, um, I've got a PowerPoint with some of the projects that we've done this summer. Uh, again, these are just some of the different things that we've done. Christie is going to try to pop that up. >> Great. While she's getting that ready, have we
had any setbacks or anything with the Opa swap over? >> It's all done really smooth overall. that really has overall good. So, yeah. Okay. A few projects. Uh we put some new countertops and VHS restrooms, locker rooms. Uh they at the time you kind of see the old and then the new uh with the faucets actually just got installed last end of last week um right after um I took that picture. So, uh countertops will look really nice um in locker rooms and restrooms. Uh we have a new fire alarm system that was part of the project that we did with the boag shop edition renovation. Uh that is now up to up to I won't say code that's not the right uh up to current standards. Maybe that's the best way to say it.
Uh but that was something that Margarito oversaw with the the different people the fire alarm system company that put that in and VHS construction. That project honestly has gone terrific. It's been so smooth. I know I've sent you guys weekly updates. Um Kevin, the project manager, Kevin Liverus, he's been absolutely tremendous. Uh we had a punch list walkthrough on Friday. Very, very few things left. The fire marshall will be here on Tuesday and fire marshall approves we start moving in stuff Wednesday. So, it's uh it's coming it's coming together and it's really exciting. So, anyway, and we'll try to do an open house uh at some point in time. I don't know if it'll be next week sometime or or the first full week of school. We're back, but I'll notify you open house uh
tomorrow on the evening and uh for the public. So, pretty exciting. Um we're installing some map rails at the high school to help out with things that are posted on the on the walls. Um could be some additional map rails at middle school, elementary school in the future. It kind of helps with the walls and the paint being torn off if you've got u you know tape or different uh adhesives that you're using to put things on the walls. Uh lots of new LED lighting in classrooms. Uh it just gives a much more uh bright, cleaner view in those rooms. Um again, Margarito Salano, big huge plus for Margarito. Uh as well as Kevin Johnson, Bradley Alexander, they have done a really good job of doing the installs on those lights uh for us. Um
the old VHS theater pictures. There's some pictures back here. And I want to give big time kudos uh to uh um Adrien Fleming, Jen Plameumber, Bob Plumber, Diane Marshall. I'm going to take some credit to cuz I've been involved with this as well. We have done a massive overhaul in the theater, the high school, and uh getting some things organized, getting some things uh oh gosh, improved with storage and uh and so on so forth. I took pictures, but I did didn't even get the most recent ones. Bob has done a lot of work with Bill Crunch as well as shelving as well as you name it. So, I think he wins a theater person of the year award at Burlington High School uh this year for uh all the work he's done up to
this point in time. So, anyway, we've done some work to create. You can see that workbench there on the picture on the right has been was built by Bob. I mean it is incredibly fitted in there and so on so forth. So uh we created some dressing rooms and some rooms where there were some storage just reorganized a lot of different things. We'll take you on that tour when we do the retreat walk through. Uh there were some concrete projects um uh again done throughout the district. Not a ton this year. Um next year maybe a few more concrete projects, but we just kind of see how the concrete weathers. We just go from year to year based on our needs. So you can see a few of those different projects were done. It was
again a very small uh concrete year for us, a summer for us. Uh our new video board and scoreboards are installed. Again, reminder that these are paid for over a 10-year period from our sponsors. You can see the different sponsors down at the bottom. We still have some room for other sponsors. So if you're interested, you can talk to Ariana Cidle and maybe get signed up for some sponsorships. And that uh includes a lot of different things with those sponsorships uh uh that we have as far as opportunities for uh different entities if they're interested. So uh we have three high school students through kind of a technology class, business, computer type class, uh sports management, I can't remember the whole ramifications, but also we have three high school students that are going to be
working the video boards for us, the video board for us, and they're really excited. We had a training on last Monday and then we got another one coming up this Friday. Uh our training had to be cut short a little bit because of our technology connectivity issues and some other issues that popped up. But anyway, so there'll be a training coming up this coming Friday and we're looking forward to that. Again, remember that the board and the school boards are paid out over a 10-year period. So we don't have any cost associated with that from our sponsors. We greatly appreciate our sponsors and any more in the future that might be interested. Uh again, the wet shop edition renovation. I've shared pictures and updates with you from Kevin. Put in a few pictures here. I
did the punch list walkthrough on uh Friday. It is really exciting putting in lockers. I think Friday when I took the picture Thursday, Friday, they're getting ready to put in pictures or put in the the the lockers. Uh I'm anxious for the kids to see. This is just going to be incredible for them. They're going to love it. Um anyway, we had a number of different painting projects going on throughout the summer to brighten up and freshen up our buildings. Um it just uh it's just important for us to make sure our facilities are topnotch because we're wanting to do the best things we can for our students to learn, our teachers to teach. And um let's see, we did some new again project. We did some new stools and sinks and bus barn restrooms
for our transportation people. One picture I did forget is we did put in um we were remember and if you remember I informed you about we were part owners of De Moine Street between the courthouse and the daycare. The way that the survey is is drawn up. We own half of that street. One thing I did not put in the report, I forgot to do that was we repaved that street and it looks really really nice. Um, now and so yeah, how we became part owners, half you know 50% owners are street uh kind of amazing but that's the way it is. So they were repaving it already. >> Yes. Yes. Yes. It was it was in bad shape before the construction was happening and it just continued to get in worse shape as the
construction around the courthouse occurred. I assume you're talking about the park that's west of Sixth Street. >> Yes, it would be west of Sixth Street. It's between the courthouse and the daycare that we don't have. You said that now Seventh Street, we don't own any of that, but De Mo Street, we are have we are part owners of the street. So, questions on any of the pictures, any of the projects? A lot has gone on this summer. A lot of people have been very very busy. Want to thank all of our summer people, our summer help, our 12 month staff have been uh just working hard and our administration directors have been working hard to get ready for this new school year as well. So want to thank everybody for their efforts. Um I want
to go into uh we did have a chance to meet with the Burlington City Council on Wednesday. Uh this was uh in in kind of in relationship to the the land that we own that's south of the high school. The city did make a motion to contribute at least this amount, $8,825. That's half of the cost of victory excavations cost to deal with the dirt work to create drainage that will work for us to be able to have six lots on that property. So, the city is going to contribute half of that. They are having a meeting, if I'm not mistaken, on this Wednesday to discuss possibly other contributions, maybe more to that. Maybe they cover free hookups for for contractors, builders, which would be about $1,100 approximately for each house in terms of water,
sewer, electric, that type of thing. So, there could be some more. We should hopefully know August 20th at their next city council meeting what their final contribution is going to be. So, this is a great partnership. I'm working together with county housing authority um Coffee County uh commissioners uh Rhonda um obviously the housing authority the city and us working together to hopefully make six houses happen because we have a very serious need for housing. So I will keep you all informed after that 20th meeting um what the city's final amount is. Um we don't want to do anything. We want to wait till the city decides what they will do. This is a great investment for the city. I mean, they're investing in theirel themselves because they are going to get and benefit. They're going
to they're going to be the ones that get and benefit the most out of it as they get, you know, tax money in perpetuity forever on those plots and turning into housing. >> So, right now we have we still have $800 exposure to us. >> Possibly. Possibly. >> If that doesn't change. >> Yes. >> Plus, we How much did we have to pay for the survey? >> That was $2,800. So, we may have we could possibly have that amount and then depending on what we sell the lots for, which I shared with you a little bit in writing notes, what that could look like. You guys may have other ideas. If you guys have other ideas on that, how that could potentially play out, please share them with me because I'm that's not just not
my wheelhouse property and uh uh just dealing with sales of of land. It's just not my wheelhouse. That's where we might want to have that conversation in the future on what we think was best and you know working with Rhonda potentially that partnership with her because she has that knowledge and background and can support us that way. So um anyway that's um a little bit about the city council me greatly appreciate the city again greatly appreciate the county commissioners and greatly appreciate Rhonda and the work she's done and and you guys as well as the board. So, and then the last thing I have is let's look at calendars and see if we can set up uh work retreat evenings, maybe two evenings potentially, and then the possible BA bees work session for you guys
to look and discuss um the future what we may look at doing. So, I'm willing for anybody to throw out days and times talk about Wednesday evenings, talk about Fridays. >> Talk about two Wednesdays or >> Yes, probably two Wednesday evenings. That's what we've done in the past. It won't be available the 27th. >> If you do a Wednesday, I'm out the 27th. I'm out the 27th. >> How about 10 and 24? >> 10 and 24th of September. >> Yeah, >> I can do 10 and 24. I can't do 17. So that that would work for me. >> Are you talking September on the calendar? >> September 10th to 24th. >> Yeah, it's it's pretty good gap between them, but I mean it gives you a week break. Yeah. >> Yeah, that works for me.
>> Okay. Okay. I think we got the winner for retreat >> 104 >> evenings. Yep. >> Yep. >> Bees. >> Yeah, I will send out information on that and work on that. So, um a time to discuss a work session again for Bees. >> Do we just want to go two more weeks out? from there or do we want to get it done earlier >> for for a third one? >> That's what he was just asking for. Yes. For for a work session for the board to discuss October. I can't come back to October before then. >> Yeah. Not that I have to be there, but I won't be there. Right. I understand. >> I think in October you want any couple weeks in November. >> You're going to have trouble getting very many of
us in October. >> Yeah. [Music] Do we think we can I mean with 3 hours we think turn one of those two into we could we could let's see if we can get >> I mean not that I want us to schedule more meetings but we could also >> even if we got to extend the night by an hour or so we can just come in another Okay. >> Okay. I presume we'll do the >> make that part of that same date. >> Yeah. We're going to squeeze. >> I presume like facility tour on the first date and then more of a meeting style the second date. That's what I remember. >> Yes. Okay. Well, thank you guys very much. That's all I have. If you have anything for me, board reports. Anybody have anything?
report none. Uh we have through some policies tonight. School vehicle policy. We get a chance to read that. Yeah, >> there's some highlighted adjustments as you can see. >> I appreciate the highlight. >> Yes, >> any questions on those highlighted adjustments? Is that on that one? That's That's a motion. The only question I have, Craig, you have a vehicle assigned to you. Are you literally going to have to log every single place you drive it? >> What I do is I just log as far as if I'm going like today we went to Topeka for a budget uh meeting with KSTV. So, I do log typically. No, >> I don't. It's one thing if you're bar for the day, it's another thing if you have to write a record where you went every day. Correct.
If I go to supervise or watch high school football game, I'll lock it. >> Okay. Yeah. Good question. Thank you. >> Okay. Any other questions? >> Another one. >> Yeah. Motion. >> Make a motion to approve policy EDA school vehicles as presented. >> Second. >> Motion. Second. Discussion. Hearing none. Submit your move. [Music] And big thank you to Brian Shank, our transportation grounds director, as well as Christie for them doing the highlighting and making these policy adjustments. So, thank you guys. >> That's easy to see what's different. >> Selena, are you >> are you online or are you are you voting online? >> Yeah, I'm not. No, it's not working. You're going to have to just voice. Go ahead. >> Okay. >> Thank you. Uh I don't see somewhere >> policy JG. >> Yes, that
is just an adjustment on the protocol on what happens if you do have an issue that comes up. This is the way that we handle those issues. So here our rules shall be published in the student handbook. Is there a place in the student handbook that talks about transportation guidelines? There should be cuz I was wondering what that was. I didn't get enough time to go look. I will need to go back and double check and make sure that is published in that student handbook. And that last sentence there, if we really allow that uh unless authorized in writing by the students, parents or guardian for transportation? >> Yes. Yes, there would be an it would be a rare exception when that would occur. Very rare exception. I think that's come up before when they
we've been traveling somewhere and they're going on vacation the next day. >> It's it's very similar to the policy for the kids that go to like Flint Hills. >> Correct. They're not really allowed to drive themselves, but in special for special reasons they can. Yes. >> But it's like a one day approval. >> It's it's a very rare occasion. Good question. No further questions. Okay. to approve policy JG transportation as presented. >> Second motion second discussion >> hearing none submit your vote >> I Motion carry 6 policy MMR meals and mile reimbursement. >> Again the items are adjusted there on that document. So if you have any questions we increase the the meals just simply because price of meals are it's more expensive and when we're going to workshops you're going to Witchah, Topeka, Kansas
City, Denver those types of places where meals you know well can be more expensive. So we've increased that amount and made some other adjustments. If you have any other questions motion to approve the policy MMR meal mileage reimbursement as presented second motion second discussion hearing your vote I >> motion six here the CP policy does >> yeah per legis yeah per legislation cardiac emergency response plan because everything again has an acronym abbreviation so uh kudos to Lori Herman Lorie Herman and I worked on these to prepare these Um and so you can just see it's just a plan that we have to have in place. Is this an emergency response? >> Is this the first time we've had these plans? No, not we we've had plan but formal like I mean the formal following the
CEP form. We we had protocol in place to deal with emergency situations. >> I just asked it has updated 2025 on it and I didn't know if that was just uh this is the first time we made it. >> Yeah. Okay. So technically, yeah, technically we've had them before, but not I mean where you have to adopt them by July 31, get share them with the state and get them board approved. >> And all of our uh individuals that are listed here, are they already CPR and AD certified? >> They are or they will be come Wednesday. >> Okay. >> Cuz we have training Wednesday, next Wednesday. Good questions. Is that training for other staff also? The staff that we feel like are important staff members here in the district. If other people want to
do it just to do it for their own personal, they can do it. But we will pay we we will pay for the key people that we want to have, you know, that need to be trained for each building. Motion motion to approve cardiac emergency response plans CPS as presented I'll second motion second discussion hearing none >> can't vote twice Okay. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Motion car 6. >> Uh handbook approvals. >> Lots of handbook information. So maybe just go by one by one. Anything in the transportation manual that you see? Anything that needs to be discussed? I will discuss the transportation manual has the new transportation guy in there. >> So, but if you go into the VHS student handbook, >> his name's not right. >> Oh, we got to get that changed.
Thank you. We will >> they shortened his name there like a minute. I'm not sure what to go back and look for sure what his name was. >> Sorry. Which one was it? The staff or >> Yes, the VHS uh said student remember it was a staff or student. Which one it was? >> I did notice a change. Um, was this recently or was it a couple of >> Yeah, you did some updates halfway through the week too. >> I will make that correction. >> Yeah, anybody else? Anything on the transportation? It must be the student. >> It is. It's the uh >> the student. >> It's the BHS staff handbook final. >> Okay. >> Just missing the K. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Any discussion about the prunation? always. >> We're just taking just
want to make sure that there's no discussion about the substitute teacher. Anybody have anything on substitute teacher handbook? >> No, I see we got the 150 in there. >> Yes. Again, recruit substitute teachers because it is a big pay increase this year to $150 a day. So, >> help us out. >> Well, with that, we've already approved three new subs. >> We have had a few going into this year. We're waiting on one more to finish an application. >> They say it was because of that. >> Not necessarily, but I would say it probably had something to do with that. >> Jill said she's had at least a couple people tell her, "Hey, I know she raised the subay. I may have to think about coming up there." >> Good. Good. >> The word is
getting out. >> That's good. >> I think I don't think >> I don't think they're part of the three you've counted yet. And appreciate Craig putting out information social media as well. Anything on subteer handbook? Handbook. Very good. Okay. Final classified handbook again. Questions? Not necessarily questions, but just when I was scrolling through there's a note on page nine. It's going to be kind of random, but the the requirements for the Let me make sure the header says, it caught me off guard, but anyways, the lactation accommodations, that note there is very specific that says that what we have to do and of course I have no experience with that, but I want to make sure that like do we have those accommodations like explicitly written as it is here provided in all our facilities
and the case may be. Again, nice most of the stuff was pretty, you know, straightforward, but then I got to this I I don't know. So, I figured >> I will say absolutely 100% because we have had administrative conversations. We have to do that. >> Yeah. That's one of those things that seems like it can get set up and then over a period of a couple years slowly get degraded. So, >> look at your >> Yeah. Most of the other stuff it was pretty normal like I said. >> Good. No, good question. It's been verified. You have to verify. Any other questions on classified handbook information. Okay. Going to the Burlington Early Learning Center. It didn't look like there was changes in that one or they just not highlighted it. They said that they didn't
do very much at all, but changing things mostly on the staff handbook from the early learning center. I know there are just reassurance that these are on the website. >> Yes, >> we will have those on the website. Thank you. your staff. >> Yes. VHS stand. >> Is there a reason some of the highlighting is a different color, Chrissy? >> Oh, goodness. Bob, >> no. I'm just asking. Just kidding. I It's the first time I've seen yellow. I wanted to make sure there was no >> consequence. >> No, the high school some people when I highlight things different colors, they mean different things. So, okay. Any uh more discussion on any of the handbooks? Any questions besides the color? >> Thanks, Jason. Appreciate that. >> Okay. I move to approve the 2025 2026 handbooks for
staff and student testers. Second motion second. Any discussion? Hearing none. Much motion car 6. >> It's a good thing I've been my whole life or I might be upset right now. >> So talk about the You want to just talk about heart disease? >> Yes. Uh, >> good. The next item, again, we we've had some discussions about the baseball softball press boxes. Um, especially the baseball the wall that's facing is deteriorating and it it needs to be done with that press box. Those were like job site buildings that were donated to the district uh way before I got here back in the early 2000s. um they are very oxy lack of a better term and they don't allow for seating behind home plate. So we talked a little bit about do what do we want
to do and so I've got some quotes and some preparation for preparation for this discussion. Um so anyway uh we can we can do seating behind home plate as you see in the drawings and the the pictures there. it will be chair back seating and then what we would look to do um there would be less chair back seating behind the softball bleachers because the softball field just a little smaller with the back stop. So again, there would be seating behind both and then the rest box would be up top up top of the bleachers. Um, and so that would, you know, put in the situation obviously is know Chris pulling up the pictures. >> So that would be the ideal scenario again behind home plates. Uh, that's this isn't the pictures were behind home
plate. >> Um, we will get to that >> cuz they're all >> Yeah. seat plan. >> No, the third one. >> Yes, sorry. So, that's kind of what's that that's going to look like that third one down. And you see the press box is behind. It's situated behind if we can zoom in. Yeah. So, again, there's going to be about 32 seats behind soft ball and about 52 behind baseball. And those again will be chair back seats. >> And then those the other seating that's there will remain. Is that right? >> Yes. We'll talk about that here in a second. So and if uh if uh wants to do the tickets for those she can do that as an option she wants to uh whatever the case might be. So again, those could be like
premium seats, if you will, and people could, you know, >> behind home. >> Behind that's a possibility. Okay. So now, um, >> board me. >> Well, could be could be board members don't get many privileges, but you could have a special seat there potentially. Who knows? So anyway, so now what the other and so so the proposal from Harland would be those two sets and the press boxes. Then there would be two additional sets of bleachers that we would purchase and they would be more if you want back to that first picture. They're going to be a little more vertical in nature. And those two new sets of bleachers would go over on the softball field. So the third base side bleachers at the softball field would be moved to the third base side baseball.
And those two would be similar bleachers because they were purchased way back when. And so those two would be a baseball. So the first base is a baseball stay. the the third base side bleacher, the softball, and the third base baseball. These bleachers, can we go to the third picture? The one that the first one I think that you showed, they're going to be a little bit more vertical in nature. And uh yeah, they're going to be a little more vertical in nature. The the dugouts when they were built on these fields, they're nice dugouts. They're terrific dugouts, but they're really too tall. They're like for people that are 12t tall and they don't need to be that tall. The dugouts really should be shorter in nature or the bleachers have to be more vertical
to be able to see have a little bit better sideline on on the softball field. So the two new sets of bleachers would be these that are going to be a little bit more vertical and those two new sets would go on the softball field. And we may end up doing some sort of a project with um the dugout roofs at some point in time to lower them because they really don't need to be that tall. If it would have 20 some years ago when they built the dugout, the dugouts again really nice. They just don't need to be that tall. >> Has been that long. >> I think it was 2004. concern about. >> So that would be the proposal from Hartland Seating. So Heartland Heartland Seating is a preferred Green Bush vendor. We
do not have to um we do not have to do a bid process with them. I shared with you other two proposals. Um didn't necessarily make those two proposals public, if you will, just because I wanted to keep the anonymity for Mammoth as well as BHS construction. Those two proposals are for press boxes only. Now, those press boxes would be larger in nature. They're not going to necessarily be 8 by12 press boxes. Those would be larger, but there's no seating involved with those two proposals at all. None. >> So, would those just go behind the back stop then? >> Basically, yes, they would. They would be behind the back stop. >> And these are elevated or not? I can't remember. these the press boxes that they mammoth provided a quote for one that would be
elevated in the center and it would be overlooking you know both one one half of it would be baseball one half it would be softball and the VHS ones would be on the ground press boxes right behind one plate analyzing and looking at this hole and as far as the cost the cost to me for the Hartland proposal makes a a lot of sense to do that if we if we want to do that to be able to get this project done in time for the baseball and softball season upcoming. We need to have an approval either now or the very latest the September 8 board meeting. There will be no payment due on these bleachers till after January. We'll get our second capital outlay distribution from the the county. We we don't have any
payment at all until after I say after January until they actually deliver the bleachers on site. They will then begin preparing, you know, building those in February, March, and they should be ready in time for the baseball softball seasons. Questions that you guys have? Looking at the mammoth one, is this the >> Go ahead. Hold on one second. >> Is this the mammoth one looks like the double-sided? >> Yes. >> Uh, press box. I was trying to remember from when we looked at this in the past. >> It would be one in the middle. It would be in the middle. And basically you would cut the press box in half and it would face you know the press box half of it would be be elevated press box in the middle between the two fields
>> and some storage underneath >> and could be could be some storage underneath. >> Okay. >> Yes. S >> Yeah. I just um so I have been an advocate you know for Canadian press boxes since before we did the TUR. I have been wanting to get rid of those things um for years because I think they're an eyesore. I don't you know anyway I've been advocating for years. However, with that said, um I know that they need replaced, but I don't think now is the time. We have so many things that need done in the elementary school. We have a playground that has been needing replaced for um at least 4 years that I can remember. that has broken pieces um that we have removed. We've piecearted it. We're not getting a new school. Um
so, we have that big expense that we're going to have to be taking care of and deciding. And I think that when we haven't decided what we're doing with the elementary school and how much money we're going to be putting towards that, I cannot support doing this. Okay. Anybody else? So, uh, capital in January, how much we get about 1.5 million, half of the 3 million cuz again, we have paid, we have paid forward on the BAG welding shop to do 1 mil for 3 years. Our capital outlay funds, we will see them, you know, they'll go down. They're going to decrease, but then they're going to rebuild the next two years because we're going to recoup that one mill for the next two years. Again, 1 mil for three years. So, again, we're paying
it forward on that project. I think whenever >> but we don't know how much we're going to be spending on the elementary school yet. >> Correct. >> Right. >> I think whenever we do decide to move forward on this seating project, but we get some input from the people that are there every day, you know, the coaches, um maybe the the current parents that are have kids and that's in that if they got any, you know, what they like to see. I I kind of always wish back a little farther. They were built. I wish they were in the ground. They need to be from the baseline softball. Sorry, I don't know how softball fields dug out from the bases out to the outfield, not from the bases in that's why you can't see cuts
off that line. But I really think some little things like that from the people that are that has spent some time there really. >> So, so we just so you know, we have had meetings included before previous administration. We've also included uh Trevor and Scott with the rec center. We've had conversations different entities. I've had Mammoth. I've had VHS. I've had H Heartland there on site to talk through. Again, there are certain things that we if you if I say if you want to you want to tear all those dugouts out, you want to rebuild and evaluate. I mean, that that gets really expensive. Do you try to make it the best of a challenging situation that we weren't there to deal with 20 years ago when they were built? I think that's the that's
the kind of the challenge as far as what we have in place now. But we we have had conversations about the the the options and really the the press boxes at the top of the bleacher seating make the most sense. If you put them down in front of bleacher seating then you're going to end up having to have the bleachers. You're they're going to have to be tall enough to be able to see 8 foot. >> Yeah. I I don't disagree. >> Yeah. Um I I do somewhat agree. I don't know if the timing is right. I don't know when someone knows what we need to do with that with that elementary school. >> And so and then our our meeting here. We're not going to have meeting till September after when you when you
say that we have >> to be able to have this done in time for the season. They need they need some notification at the latest September because they're going to have to make an order. have to leave it on their and so anyway and we if if you guys aren't ready to do this that's fine that's okay so I I like Ronnie and Selena said I'm in a position now where I know a lot of the push back we got on the elementary school for example was why didn't we do this before the turf and before stuff and I know there's a lot of things play into that I part of the board at that point but for us to say we have all the stuff at the elementary But the first big chunk of
money we spend after that gets shot down on the high school fields doesn't seem like we would be prioritizing properly. Okay. >> I mean Yeah. Go ahead. You got one? >> No. No. >> I just assume we have our meeting our uh in September and uh you know we'll go from there. I mean if we in in September it looks like you know after our meeting with what we're doing with BDS and all that then we can you know think right now I think pretty slow right okay I'll add another conversation too and maybe I'm telling on myself but this is the first time that I've seen this bid here and I had a lot of questions wrote down part of it right I think it's only appropriate that we table those conversations for another
meeting um to get, you know, some more people's input that that are there. If a project really is seating, right, we're talking about seating and you go out there and watch a baseball game, there's people sitting around the fence in the outfield, there's people sitting on chairs uh down the first and third baseline. So, the bleachers aren't being packed like a football game, right? like that's I think we could if we hold off a game or two or three or whatever I think we'd be okay but um that's just my my thought process the plan that we have looks good but I think we just need more facilitating this until next week >> Johnny just so you know we did probably shortly before you got on the board we did have a discussion and look
at some very highlevel uh options for what this was to look like and kind of asked him to dig into it a little bit more So that that's probably the reason that you haven't seen it. The rest of us at least had a vague clue of what he was looking at. So just a weird timing thing. So I'm moving the table to the next meeting. >> Yeah. Thanks for working on. Let's just >> motion second. Any further discussion? vote >> says motion to approve the hard. >> No, I motion to table. I didn't motion. I didn't do that >> and I selected motion to table. >> Yeah. >> So, how do we do the table? If you motion table, if you want the table, you say >> the motion on what it says. >> Yeah.
I don't want to on what it says. It >> says motion. We want to read it. Chris, >> thank you. That's how much pushing the table. motion to take that be so good. this construction soccer or anything hasn't popped up online voice uh motion to table is on the table. Oh, there it is. Motion vote twice a year. [Music] >> I guess it's probably too late now, but then we table it to September meeting. Is that what we're saying? We're just tableing today or another meeting and I'll probably have some information. We should probably at least that one at least discussing. >> Yeah, it's okay. Motion carry 68. Rather than amend the motion, I'm just going to say we're all prepared September is going to be on. Okay. Okay. Student issues. >> I hope not.
>> I hope there's no student issues at this point. >> We have uh great work on the on the plan there, Greg. And uh and Christy on the handbooks. Great. So, and welcome. I guess we have officially speech. No speech. No J be nice. Don't want her to run out of here. So, um, if you want to just give tell them your name. Everybody knows her or has not met her yet. And >> I can see >> Can you see here? >> Well, we're welcome. We're glad to have you. So, and Lee is not here tonight issue. So, we look forward to seeing you all. You have anything else? Yeah.
