the school for the Thanksgiving dinner for bringing that back I tell you about last month it's going to be in the gymnasium oh and so we're having a little entertainment in the theater while they're waiting and we clean up from our lunch so we have a sit down and getting all organized so we're really excited about that actually are the kids inviting someone or just was who's invited yeah um it's we publicized it and I think I think that's the paper um and Facebook and everything and then so they're reaching out to the all the the entities um so the is it Meadows and the different places and then yeah it's FCCLA and F and we those of you will be at our FCCLA Brian Kirby is just rocking it out in the kitchen um
we have kids that are just her she was the kids were cutting up the veggies and celery and different things for the stock for some chicken homemade chicken noodles these kids are doing everything from hand first time kids cut chickens and they're like breaking you know they're up and we got some new knives and so all the etiquette everything restaurant style from hand sanitizing and everything so we can't wait for a couple of years to get that that steralized but um she shared it with the staff and um these kids are doing great I me they are learning so some amazing skills and so if you ever get the benefit to eat some of the food that the kids are preparing we have a bakon And Pastry class so they is making some fancy stuff
now well Craig and I ate that day they had the old thing some superintended stuff came around we had a lot of comp the pastri they serve the pastries and all very nice so you stop there stop say hi to her so she was a student teacher for us um a few about five years ago English and so she passed her practice the first time through she's a big time K State um agency type of extenstion person and um just knows her stuff and so we're excited all the the good food and the pounds will be so yeah that was very I will tell you that Craig and I went to when went to leadership we went to school someone they did that they sered kind of stuff and Serv so it was kind of
cool for their kids to be able to do that very much appreciate be able to show that all yes okay Lindsay not here you have anything for Lindsay be happy to connect with her she's still busy trying to find not too B not too bad not too bad at all you win technology any technology questions this is easy I like the feedback about how technology has been used in the classroom I don't get in there but to see it and that's cool I like that thank you yeah I hear straight from teachers how they're UTI well okay I will be fairly fairly brief hopefully American Education week again this it's this week we are just so blessed and so thankful to have the people that we have working in our district they are just very
dedicated um extremely passionate about working with kids and we're just so thankful to have the people that we have this week so we got some special things for them and for you guys as well we appreciate your work as well and we part of Mag American Education week as board members so we've had some neat neat gear where as the kids call now they call it drip it's not gear it's drip so it's the slang term for clothing so I learn a lot when I go around the high school middle school kids even elementary kids so anyway so we have some clothing for you guys to very nice and uh Monique and her crew did the sweatshirts for us and they are just absolutely awesome so again uh we sent those out Wednesday sent those
out to staff today Wednesday we'll have a meat and cheese trays to deliver to them and we'll maybe do something who knows there could be something and it works for Friday too so something little special something know some some sort of treat so anyway uh next item again Kissa is a learning here this year we're kind to inform you a little bit about Kissa and so basically they're doing a little bit of transitioning um into these four Focus areas uh for Kissa coming up so this year these are the the four Str four areas structured literacy which we have that fairly well in place here standards alignment you had a chance to hear a little bit from Stacy brutin when we were here for the CI information um very much in place with standards alignment
and so on so forth balanced assessment system we have that in place here as well when you think of State assessments and whether it's map testing or uh you know ACT Testing or just local local assessments local curriculum assessments the staff make up and uh quality instruction I think we do really well there as well so the things that are aligning that the state wants to see for the next wave of Kissa we have these things in place really really well outside visitation teams again we have four three three I'm sorry three people coming in and we've done it for the past five years into our district and um they come in and we share with them information here and and they give us some feedback that's going to change in the Future Part of
a big part of the reason is changing to what they call these Regional outside visitation teams is there's just fewer and fewer people that are outside visitation team members and like chair person chairperson chair chair people if you will um uh I was chairperson for two different districts last year uh it's just it's a lot I mean it takes a day out of your time to go and do and then you got to review their information you got to give them feedback uh there's just a number of different people that um are are doing that and some are choosing not to do that piece at all so they're basically going to have like a regional place where you go and they'll have this group of this one outside visitation team that'll hear six seven eight
school districts a day it's a little different um but that's plan that's the plan that they have in place right now so anyway uh next month's board meeting I'm going to share with you some information our administrators and directors uh we did spend some time with Jennifer Haney from Green she's a data analyst there and she's just that's her thing she just data information and and we we believe we're doing really well and we share with you guys this information during results reports but we wanted to get somebody's opinion from outside we wanted to have somebody come in and look at our information with us and and uh give us some thoughts and and Views and just an outside person's uh uh input and and thoughts and we spent a day with Jennifer and she
was just very impressed with what we have she helped us do a little bit deeper data dive into some things and so I'll have some information to share with you at the December board meeting of course that will start our results reports in December as well so that's a little bit of information about um about Kissa so it's uh there's no reports to fill out this year which is I guess kind of nice but uh we still will have an ovt meeting team like we have in the past now next year we won't sounds like they'll be going to a regionalized meetings U for for those outside visitation teams so uh but again I feel very comfortable that what we have in place here is really really strong um and it's what the state wants
to see so good news there we did have three starward Awards postsecondary success we also had high school graduation um and we also had academically prepared for post secondary and this year we're working on one or two more star awards uh that we feel like we can do it takes some time and energy and effort to go through the information and be able to put together all the uh the report pieces that are needed for these reports but uh again postsecondary success just a quicker reminder of that that's the percent of high school graduates who either enter uh they they they either enter college and they go for two years they earn an industry recognized certification uh higher education degree or or like I say they they continue their education two years after their High
School grad graduation so that's the uh postsecondary success award High School graduation that just deals with your graduation rates um and ours are typically in that 90% range or higher um and then academically prepare for postsecondary Success uh kind of focuses on uh students that again are store scoring and state assessments uh and that those three or four ranges and um that's pretty much it those are the three Awards so glad the state recognizes us for those those Awards and let me see um the jbcc enrollment open enrollment policy language we are going to end up at the beginning before our meeting next month we'll have the hearing for jbcc and I want to share with you this information here um there's a document that is attached and and it has some information from kasb
and I apologize I forgot to attach that um and when we put together the packet originally I sent that out to you guys today as a quick uh as a quick uh change in the in the in the the board agenda so again I apologize for not I just completely forgot to put that in the original packet so um you've seen some of this language already before and really I'm not going to read through it word for word uh but you kind of see what what we're going to have to do we have to honor before May one we have to create those recommendations for capacity student teacher ratios um for uh again for students U not only our students but the number of students we would take that would be out of district and
so anyway we'll work on setting those but we do not have to have those set in place until May 1 and then there's a time frame on honor before June 1 of each year District shall publish the number of open seats from June 1 through June 30 District ad Administration shall accept applications for non-resident students this is different remember from what we did in the past what we typically would do is accept them in April we'd accept out of District um letters um requests from from parents in April have been turned in by usually the second week first or second week in May and then the day after we dismiss kids for summer administrators would get together and approve and then parents would know like by the end of May if kids are coming now
with this new law we have to wait and go through and it's going to actually take a little extra time for for us to notify parents so from June 1 through June 30 District administration shall accept applications from non-resident students so that's going to be different for and we'll get that information out to parents June between June 1 and June 30 it's disappointing we can't do the way we've done it in the past but that's the way it is and it says this process shall be completed honor before July 15 of each year we're going to try to do this as quickly and as timely as possible because we want par we want parents to know we want them to know that they're coming back and they're going to be wild cats so that's important
so we're going to work on getting that done sooner than later um continuing on to the last page in talking with our administrators that first bullet point on the last page jbcc 6 I shouldn't say last page but jbcc 6 um we want to have that attendance rate be 95% because it's attendance rate in the last school year excluding excused absences so we feel like that rate should be higher since we're excluding the excused absences we want to be at 95% we can set that at whatever rate we want can be 80 85 90 95 but since we're excluding the excused absences we feel like it should be higher and then the second item so we can change the percentage but we can't change the dates correct yes yeah the dates are by law the
percentages we have freed in that any way good question um there's the fourth bullet point down below it talks about the student is currently under no wait minute I think I to the Fifth Fifth bullet point I'm sorry the student has had three or more out of school suspensions in the current school year we want to make that a little more I'm going to say a little more general statement um instead of saying three or more we would say the student has had out of school suspensions or disruptive behaviors in the current school year that allows us to you know to determine it could be maybe if they had an out of school suspension it was just a one day thing was a minor thing and then they had a second one was just a
one day thing and then a third one they had a one day thing one by three by that by that I guess that rule if you will they would technically not be coming back um if we make it more general which we can make it more General then it gives us that ability to determine do we have an issue do we have a problem do we have something going on that we can say listen this students not necessarily doing well and we don't necessarily want to have them you know back in our district so we can make that more General that is that is okay and again we're not adopting this policy it won't be until we have we'll have the hearing and then we'll do the formal adoption in December so that's why um
I was wanting to go over this information with you ahead of time and then I guess the last last name we would set the date to inform parents um at May 31 for the re for returning for the next year we would allow we we' make sure that we inform them on May 31 do you have any questions I have a coule so so I just want to clarify so if they're already an outer District student this year I don't want to say the word assume but could you be would if you were an out of District family would you be comfortable that you we get getting to come back every year with I mean without you know like I'm not talking about like they huge behaviors or lots of issues or any that like
it's just like a formality kind correct so so this this first year the way we the way we understand it everybody goes through the I guess screening process if you will if you were to have a lot of out of District let say we have approximately um like 90 to 100 want to say like 9 90 to 100 I can't remember the exact number out of District students which is great that's wonderful we have people that want to come into our district those those people we again as long as they're com as long as they're doing a good job for us attending you know doing well no issues at all we want to have those people back but what what happens all a sudden we end up with 200 out of District kids because this
open enrollment technically they could come from anywhere any place anytime we have 200 then we have to those the thresholds would set would set in everybody this first year will be just it's it's it's it's it's everybody's judged you know we could for example we could have a senior next year and they could have gone to school with us from kindergarten all the way through a junior year they'll all be put into a the pool of people and we we evaluate them chances are we won't be at capacity or maxed out but again all of a sudden let's say we do say we do get 200 how to just treat kids instead of 100 then we would have to look at our capacity our thresholds being set and then it becomes a lottery draw if
you will I know it's yeah so these will have to reapply every year once they from what I understand after once they're in they would be in and that's yes but but but this first year everybody's kind of on equal grounds does that make sense y okay I think be okay my next question is what do we the ACT scores I'm PR concerned about like what are we doing to address some of that it's going down I know we want to just say Co but I we really need well gone down to there's a couple of things that we could I mean we can discuss and if Taylor want to try in they can too um you know remember we do we do we do assess all kids so for assessing all kids that can
be you know it can be a moving number um yeah it we may have to look at some you know additional test prep you know especially for those kids that are wanting and needing ACT scores you know for future um I mean we can't do everything I mean we can't hang our hat on it but the state's definitely addressing it I mean we're showing it so we're right after I remember we're right about that state average we we had been above that state aage but uh anyway question I don't know anything you guys want to the last last population that took there was a very high identified group that took it so we do we do um assess all and um there took a dip this is my opinion but also I think a lot
of principal opinions as we talk is the Regent schools came in and said it's not important and guess what our kids heard it's not important so did we have the kids who ended it in 5 minutes yes so we have had those discussions like with the prea race taken and then there is some there is um some great incentive now because we're doing fast bridge and with fast bridge if they get a certain score on prea and then if they get a score like a certain score on um their act they don't have to take any more test so if prac is their sophomore year or freshman year freshman year right um and so if they score 16 on that it exempts them from having to take additional assessments through high school so we're starting
to build that hopefully excitement assment right I don't want to test again um and so U but what we're working on at the high school is mapping there's a act provides a great map of your core areas and it says these are the concepts they need to know if they want a 21 if they want 25 they wanted 30 and so we are we started plc's this year and so that's one of our identified areas is to take a look and say with you guys just met with CLI so you met with Stacy so she and I had the conversation is does our scope and sequence match to where by the junior year at that February Junior date that everybody's taken it what have our kids been exposed to you know and so I I
don't know if it's ever been looked at but we're looking at that so we are in discussion with that so but it's I think it's a it's it's kind of a triangulated piece the kids heard what they wanted to hear the Regent schools really and then now the state says but oh but it's important and so um just taking a look at everything at once and kind of kind of making sure that they're there so if they wanted to and Without Regrets do the best that they can and have the knowledge that they have by the time they take that test so that's what we're looking at any any other questions okay with with the on the jbcc piece we will I say we'll have we'll have a hearing kind of like we did we
do with our budget hearing the Rue mutal piece um we'll have that before the meeting next to 7 in December our next meeting it will probably take I'm going to say maybe 10 minutes that same type of thing so we'll probably look to set that somewhere around 6:30 6:45 and then go straight into our meeting and then actually adopt it formally adopt it at uh at the December at the regular board meeting are we letting um our current out of District families know that this is I think once our policy kicks in we'll go let them know you guys approve that we yeah we really I would want to let them know until you guys good question though but yeah we will we we will share that information don't want undo Panic right right I
didn't know if it was going to go out and then we're going to have at the hearing meeting we're going to have you know 70 families here I I I don't think it's going to impact us greatly I think the bigger school districts could because you could you could see um where well for you can see where bigger schools where kids could move from school to school to school they just they could bounce if if you follow there was a new story and we talked about it this week James andas a new story Jefferson Jefferson County they have six different school districts and they've gone through some challenging things because it's almost like they're they're competing for students much in the way colleges are they're they're trying to make sure they get as many kids
in their schools and six school districts in a county that maybe could get by with three or four that's a county like that it could be challenging they could be competing for kids to try to come to their schools where they were cities where kid were schools uh kids can you bounce from school to school so I don't think it's going to impact us greatly but um we'll see time will tell and we'll work on the thresholds with administrators we even have some staff members inol with some threshold I don't think thres going to come into play for us uh just don't think they're going to be a major issue for us because we're not really maxed out in any at any grade level right now but who know we'll see good questions good comments
if you have anything if you have any questions or comments you want to talk about this feel free just to shoot me an email give me a call and uh we'll have that December I think the biggest question is going to be about students ly in school system continuing there's language on jbcc 5 that talks about non-resident students that have been accepted en Roman in the attendance of the district shall be permitted to continue but I don't know if that's from day one of this policy taken on on that are already program so that would be the questions everyone's going want to know we'll get like I say we'll get information out publicly so everybody you our school Community our parents and our patrons understand understand this I'm going to do a little bit more
following up and making sure and tweaking if there's any tweaking that needs to occur I'll in Friday notes I'll let you know but I want to make sure that this is pretty I'm going to say air tight if you will very solid very very set in place um so you may have an update on some upcoming Friday notes for me the you brought up C and I missed the opportunity so I came to the C meeting with Stacy Burton and it was very very good and I have been openly against CLI from I know can you believe it that is no joke I I have been against CI and I have changed um my team so I was I have felt like a curriculum director when we got rid of the curriculum director years ago
that that was a backwards um decision at the time so I personally um you know I wanted I wanted something that um had Buy in in our district in our school and our community so it was um I felt like C wasn't that so I um have been openly open about that so when Stacy Burton was here she did a very good job I felt very uh I was changed I mean I feel like she the program aligns with the standards they're making changes to align with standards to make sure I thought it was very good and I openly talked to her afterwards decision so um I it was very worth the time it was very good yeah so I that's hard so the one thing I will add on this on the report card
like we're doing and and the administrator did a great job of giving us data I guess I would ask that the administrators give us the data when they see that we're falling off in somewhere don't make us point it out you point it out we fell off in this data and here's why because you know we seem to get in these like why then we kind of just just own it just put it out and this is why we got it so we love to see that because we're going to start getting those now quite a bit so reports oh the the building report card um I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this because you'll have those in the result reports but there is a link there and when you go
on to that link you'll go to Performance level reports and when you get to the performance level reports it will give you uh some information again on state assessments and again reminder we're not all about State assessments we want to do well if we're going to take them which we need to take them we want to do well with them but we don't like the olden days start test prep in January January February test prep for the tests in March and we don't do that we we we teach just as normal we may have to spend a little time with the to say the actual test format on the computer especially with our third graders because State assessments are new that's their first year to do state assessments but uh the first one there show
shows math at all grade levels and again administrators and directors will talk to you about these during the results reports the key thing we want to look at and what I stressed to you guys is levels two three and four are considered kids are kids are at at grade level or higher they are able to move on post secondary wise one is limited one we need to move our ones hopefully into twos our ones aren't all of a sudden going to become fours they're just it's not going to happen in a year's time or a blink of the eye that type of thing but what we want to do is we want to try to move them hopefully sooner than later to TW because there's a significant jump and Lucas and James were at the
and you guys were at the KB conference there's a significant jump to success if students can move from a level one and state assessment to level two and that's what we want to do is give our kids the best possible chances to be successful so you can see there the in compared to State and they gives you a two-year um assessment there from uh the district level in 2022 and District level in 2023 as well as the state in 2022 and the state in 2023 we have fewer kids in level one each year in our math and we and that this is again this is a District overview individual grades you'll see that next year you know next month with when we start results reports so again our focus is really making sure hopefully the
kids are in those level two three and four categories level two is not failing level two is not uh you know not not oh my gosh this is horrible terrible it's it's we want to continue on trying to move kids forward level ones to twos hopefully TW to threes and threes and fours um go ahead I was say I kind of more believe so Randy Watson did a lot of this a lot of this information I kind of more believe like the two is kind of an entry level for a kid you know here's where we started at right there and the ones where you got to really watch because they just fell off the curve and so then you want to grow them to three and four but so you'll see a lot more
twos a lot of times and we've actually you'll see next month when we show I show you the information from Jennifer hany that we looked at we actually broke down I think I've mentioned this to you before we actually broke down our ones into low ones and high ones low twos and high twos be because if we if we can do anything I say anything to move our level ones to level twoos that gives them a significant uh improved success chance so if you click on the subject out to the side there you can click on Ela and if you click on Ela it'll give you a similar bar graph as to what you've seen before what you saw here with math um and again what we're looking for again is fewer ones than the
state averages and we are doing that we need to just continue to move kids and again we're not all about State assessments but we we're taking them we want to do well in them it's no matter it's if we do a play we want to do well if we do a band concert we want to do well if we do compete in an activity we want to do well State assessments the same way so well apparently using the teaching the kids how to do guns in class you want to do well on that too excuse me ma'am yep you can excuse me you cannot talk oh I can it's a public place that's I can it's a free country and obviously I didn't get a permission slip on how for my kids to be able
to shoot a gun and obviously that's not a part of say I'm going to ask you to be quiet or I'm going to ask you to leave no because this is a free free place I will call no it will not this is this is a free place for me to do I didn't get a permission s that but apparently if that's going to be a disruption it was a disruption in there you are being disruptive I'm asking you to be no I am not because you guys were talking about the state state state assessments and what has that got to do I mean apparently putting a a gun in a kid's hand is not going to is somehow supposed to help them with their grades ma'am at the next meeting there's a portion where
you can sign in before the meeting starts where you can have a um time slot to speak but we have an agenda that we have to oh I tried to get on the agenda nobody would call me back for that imagine usd244 I returning a damn phone ma' you could have came to the beginning of the meeting have a board meeting right now we need to have a police officer here because we have a disruptive patr no I'm not disruptive I'm speaking I knew it was a public meeting it is a public meeting it is and I'm allowed to speak I'm a public person you're asked to be there's a specific spot on the agenda for public comments it's good to see that Thor finally woke up from his map and you can come sign
in in the beginning of the meeting to get on that section of the agenda but we can't have people just speaking out in the middle of meeting we have an agenda that's we have to stick to that's fing fantastic let's go see if one of our pals are going to come see us tonight kid so glad you didn't get shot on the freaking field let's go always nice visiting with you Craig anyway um with the LA piece if you click on the next one science you'll see science is again a similar format and again fewer level one are you coming out here with me Craig or I mean you made the phone call no ma' meeting w't okay see you don't you just want make the phone call but miss oh I know don't worry
you still had to see me at Hoover somebody's got the elect into the position you're you'll see that uh again we have fewer level ones and that's what we want to see um as we move forward so again questions the building report card you'll see more information with the building um with the results reports when the building administrators go through those happy to see you mat happy to see you see any other questions I'm sorry in Stereo no I do like so this there's a lot of data when you look on that link um it is stuff that we see from the administrators during their more in depth course see that link there so we could kind of dou into it ourselves and see all the information okay nothing else now reports so I will
U I wish you all could have made it to the conference but and I and Craig went to the conference and so I actually learned quite a quite a great deal so and some of that will be some changes coming forward that nothing real significant but uh in a way we do some business around so but uh there was some great uh data from Randy Watson that talks about the public schools in Kansas how you know they're always being attacked doing her job and I'd say from I wish we had that presentation but he's to send it out I guess but uh I think the teachers and administrators are being commended in in where the needle is moved for the state of Kansas is and then you know because it it showed a lot of
lot of data that was there that shows that we're you know taking care of our kids yeah not just was I not the state assessments but they talked a lot about the pro secondary um dual credit classes the things that we're doing like I say with technical colleges and so on so forth there's over I can't even remember exactly how many credit hours but if I remember right it's over 300,000 in the state over 300,000 credit hours dual credit hours are occurring that's an all-time record uh there there just was again those those bits and pieces of information they don't get put out too much it seems like it's like the bad stuff's on page one and the honor roles on page last but as we know sometimes you know in in in you know
this in in the different say in the different uh media it just doesn't get put out there as as positively as it should but there there's a lot of really good things that are happening in the State graduation rates are are better more postsecondary type opportunities uh dual credit uh Technical College opportunities so it's it's pretty it's a pretty good uh pretty good time to be in education with what we're seeing so yes so anyways so another thing that they a lot of another thing they talked about there a lot was um absenteeism so uh and across the state it's up it's up yeah the uh the benefit of Co was we told all the kids to stay home and we could still teach them and I think parents heard that message really strong and
said oh my kids can stay home and you can still teach them and uh it's not causational but there's a correlation between kids missing class and I mean performance I mean it's it's straight there by the time you miss 10 11 days in a year unexcused and then you're missing that kindergarten on through but any of your career you might miss a year of school and so I think we need to start getting the message out there that attendance is needs to be there needs to bring back so I think certainly talk to some more with the administrators and stuff we talked about that talk about so I think you'll have more for everybody on that but we and we're not as bad as some District but we got to get control you think it's
better this year than last year yes like you nailed down on the charties and that type of thingies and unexcused excused absences significantly and we with our information that we got at the DAT did say was a year old so new information come out so we were looking at just we're sending letters at five days and so on and so forth and we're getting phone calls hey why am I getting this well this is just so you're aware this is where your child is with attendance and there's two different things between excused and unexcused these are excused and once you hit 10 days you have that right to use them but once you hit 10 days understand we'll probably ask for a doctor's note and if you're saying hey we're going to go on a
vacation or'll probably be well those aren't necessarily going to be excused there's a lot of things go into it true how are their grades are they staying on top of their work so on and so forth but I would use an example we had some gentlemen that decided to go to like the truck bash thing um and they had to make some decisions the year because there's back to back weeks that they wanted to go and they made the right choice because some went on some and one other and just because um I think how we've aligned some of that's been a big piece of it it's us three of us have gotten together and all of our policies are in line we send letters at the same time they send letters in terms of
the number of absences and things like that I think youself a lot moving forward yeah and it's sometimes teaching the parents realigning them we encourage that conversation it's like we're not you know teachers get 12 or 10 or 12 discretionary days talk to your kid it's okay to take a mental health day or take a break just plan it out use it wisely and don't just call in for the heck of it right so those type of things and the I'm I'm not going to lunch but I'm going to lunch calls you know the the co word parents would comment well they were this this and so they were they were supposed to stay home so it's getting P that is we don't have that whatever the health department tells you you do give us
the not it's excused right um but we're not contactor we're not doing any of that we are back to 100% normal if your kids sick keep them and all kind of give a plug from the other side of two so every time the kids miss there's a teacher that's preparing the homework there's a teacher that's bringing that kid back up to speed when they come back and taking away from times of the kids that were in class so the Educators is being strained by those absences too it's not just the kids Y and hardship is is when a kid's gone for three or four days they go through all the work of getting it getting it ready and they return and nothing's complete so if it's a if it's an AB planned ahead the day
you return it is due that's not it's missing now is Darla also aligned with her policy the way she's doing it cuz I think sometimes people think they're just in TR they can a we we can go on family vacation it's not it's not that big and then that's where it starts they yeah it is but I'm just saying especially the spelling I but um yeah I just want to make sure that she's on the same that way it's yeah and the data we looked at was the when it starts out being chronic in those lower grade levels it continues through the rest I'll have some data and some information for you with our with our with our data diet that we did with with Jennifer from Green bu in next month that be a
little interesting and I want to commend administrators for getting an attendance policy kind of tight up so it is much more consistent it's that's good I think it's it's good when we can be consistent I kind of look at it as L long talk about this and again it was a great conversation but uh I think that if we don't get a hand on our kids we train our kids to even get out in an employer world and say I'm sick today and not come in so you know it just becomes a habit s Behavior well and it does start when they're young I mean you know the parents are responsible to get them there and if they're not doing it in third grade might not going to do it an eth grade and if
all the time the expectation is unless you're sick you're going to school from that young on I mean that establishes it so for consistent schoolwide then that's just how it is and then like James said you know you don't when you go to work you're better be really sick our job is hopefully we we've added enough exciting programs that the kids want to be and that's really what we wanted is for so we have we have a handful of kids and one comes to mind is that was not well not chronic but didn't come a lot and really hasn't missed any days because they're in the gaming club and and they have to keep their grades up I mean total change so you know it's one at a time but something like that they found
something to to embrace and so that's our job is to make sure we want find something for them to want to be there too so do we still do the award type deal no actually yeah perfect that's I theer that really cool quit doing that during the co year and maybe we do bring that back it's very possible we do we do give a weekly award to uh where we do a drawing for $25 or it adds up throughout the month no one gets it but it's you can only get it if your name gets drawn if you have no absences no tardies passing we give that Weekly perfect attendance but perfect attendance for a week maybe that thing is I can remember my kids just love D you kids love to be recognized I
mean know for whatever it is attendance or academic or whatever Sports obviously so if we we need to be looking at that I know that for me when I was in Middle School changed my life just to get recognized and that was the turning point for me was thank you anybody else have anything else I don't know what was going on with this go we don't need to talk about it now but if if you know something would you send us email I have no idea really to tell you truth I would you send us an email and she's obviously unhappy about sure I I don't even know who it was so will I was not she and I had a conversation and I think about Capital outlay review you have some information there this
is information that looks very similar from years past we just changed the the years and then some some dollar amounts there uh with some information here uh again um you have the capital outlay working document we've included um again we it's a seven-year document now we've extended out to seven with this we included the year before 2223 as well as then 23 24 this year and then we just included two years out 425 and 2526 um for um the the your your attachment that you have here because as you get further out there's fewer items on the you know five six and sevene plan but uh you can see that uh you know what we're you know again what we're spending money on how much it costs there's an estimated cost There's an actual cost
um and and so on so forth on on items we've had again a lot of different things that are needing to be replaced at different times in buildings that are 40 50 60 years old as we've you know dealt with a variety of different things like again boilers at the high school um pumps chillers HVAC type equipment so on so forth um upgrading a lot of new furniture uh carpeting flooring and so on and so forth so I I'm not going to go over all the items with you um in this document this year and next year we will look to probably spend about the same amount as of money as we're bringing in in capital outlay so we're doing those preventive maintenance contining to stay on top of on top of maintaining things uh
so that we aren't uh say aren't falling behind and aren't you know just uh taking things to a point of um I I say that they're they're really you know causing us issues uh you know to the point where it's it's it's detrimental for our our buildings as well our our students and staff we want them to be in the most comfortable best classroom setting as possible part of that does become an issue with obviously equipment equipment at times like we've been waiting on a chiller for the elementary school for months now um middle school has a unit that we've been it's a year and a half now um as we talked a little bit about buses when you order a bus now you it's two years out before you're going to get a new
bus so again we have some of those things that we're dealing with um as time goes on um so um anyway having said that um I don't know if you have questions on this document um as you see the amount of money that we have projected out in 2526 is much much less um and then in 2627 as well and we start to put some money aside for our turf replacement that's going to be in 10 11 12 years we're going to start to set aside anywhere from 100 200 300,000 at a at a time so that we will have money ready for that and as well as for for roofs in case we need to do a roof project here at the elementary school at some point in time we will have a roof
project there we don't have that built in just yet because everything seems to be going pretty good with our we had a couple of repairs um that have needed to occur but overall we're in pretty good shape so I don't I don't know if you have questions um on the capital outl document again a reminder 1 milon capital outl for us brings in approximately $540,000 in that neighborhood so we do have four meals of capital outl so that brings in 2.1 is million dollars um each year and we I say we we've been catching up on a lot of things that we' needed to catch up on um that just needed to occur um and you know we'll start I say after this year and next year hopefully be able to set aside more in
savings as time goes on um I just if we could have 23 22 23 totals split out from then 23 24 oh we didn't get that we didn't we didn't get we we'll have that we'll get that the final we miss line there but 2324 has it yeah thank you thank you for catching that yeah we did we we missed that line when we did to made it to a p there was one yeah for 23 24 and 24 25 but we don't have for 22 yes thank you we'll get it thank you so we've been at at the uh at The Retreat we talked about uh some different things that we wereing doing a couple of projects uh that we potentially could look at we shared that out with a newspaper article and in
discussions and so one of the things that we talked about was the welding shop renovation we do have a grant for $250,000 the project most likely is going to be in that neighborhood of I'm going to say a million dollars when it's all said and done when you're talking about electrical HVAC uh you're talking about new you know LED type lighting an expansion to that program which we talked about could lead to us with the partnership to Technical College with that all being said we need to expand our welding chop area more storage there and we have uh Mrs Grover Mr Wilson as well as M Miss C's been involved in those discussions as well as we' had Flint Hill's Technical College Representatives get discussions with us as far as what may be needed for
us to have that partnership in the future so with that being said we we couldn't continue to do the projects that we would be doing in capital outlay for the other buildings for the elementary middle high school district office Bus Barn the just we wouldn't be able to do everything that we needed to do if we didn't ask again for some additional money to go strictly to this project so what we are looking at trying to do with the scap outl resolution is very similar to the one year one mil for five years which we did for the renovation of the science rooms at the middle school high school the gym renovation and we actually had some additional money that we didn't have to use because of the foundation we didn't have to worry about
Foundation issues in the gym at the high school thank goodness um we use that money for to help with the renovation of the first grade Wing So what we'd be proposing is this one mill for three years which I shared with you that information um over the last couple of months and so this is the resolution and that would be 1 mil for 3 years if we the reason and we talked about 1 mil for two years is it 1 mil for two years or 1 mil for three years we just don't know about costs guys I mean you just you just don't know um what it's going to cost and and um if we get this resolution passed then we all of a sudden get the architect involved and we get an exact hopefully
in their pretty exact figure here more so what we're going to spend if we end up not meeting that bill that third that year that that that third year Bill if you will we could give it back or we could identify it like we did with our first grade winning where we use that additional money for the first grade winning renovations to go towards that project so having said that I don't know if you have questions we do have to put that in the paper has a 40-day protest 10% of the voting population usd244 could sign a protest 10% or more if they do then we wouldn't just get that one mil for three years we would have to take it to a vote the public with public if we wanted to have that one
mill for three years occur what is Flint Hills what are they putting towards it their their focus is going to be on staff and Equipment good question they'll pay for they'll pay this that yeah yeah they'll have it after school we'll get to use during the day then they'll use it after school and provide the staff and their equipment can we use their equipment during the day that we would have that partnership working agreement with the equipment yes yes so again they can they can't Levy taxes in a bond issue or something along Capital outlay like this they can't do that but they can go through like uh CTE Carl Perkins grant funding to get equipment um and that works well for them to be able to to provide equipment for facility good questions it
could lead to some dual credits during the day possibly even we you know we we have some different ideas and there'll be continuing discussions that would occur so anyway other questions good good comments questions anybody so I think as Greg and I visit and I think everybody talks about this welding program I think it will be huge for the community uh a lot for the high school kids and a lot for the adult community and uh I think went for three years because we didn't want to sell ourselves short make sure that we've got enough that we move on and similar to what we did before so can we when this isn't put in the paper um can we also like remind the public like we did the one mill for 5 years this is
what we did with it we removed it when we said we would now we're asking for one mil for three years to do these projects so that they know like okay because I know people say oh they add on a Mill and they know never take it off you know we did what we said and we did what we said we were going to do we did the projects we said we were going to do even more Pro projects with that money um we were fiscally responsible with it and so just a like a reminder article and yeah that' be great yes so um I move to approve the C resolution second discussion no discussion motion carries 60 the uh staff thank you and the uh certainly the kids than thanks to yes the Jones
trust has been great for us absolutely great okay moving on Green Bush evaluation there's just a couple as we talked about we were going to uh some more specific tools that are linked towards the the job description so for example library media Specialists were underneath the teacher tool evaluation that really didn't fit um uh we had some others provide counselors that they're working on and we uh so we're going through this process with K Bush to get more I'm going to say more that they're going to be better evaluation tools more linked to the actual jobs that people are doing so with that that being said there's two and that link you know as I'm clicking on it it's asking you to like ass sign it I apologize okay I apologize that's the administrator one
um probably asking you to sign in for that um I apologize I thought that I couldn't get it to work in an attachment um yeah what there something you did last time let me see if I can yeah the password um hold on for one second let me see if I can yeah let me see if I can drop that in right now if I can do that um or I tell you what we I was going to say we could we could approv the liary immedate one pull off on the administrator one if you want sure if you want is yeah HDMI I apologize guys I ter so it has I'm going to increase that size because that's very small it just has a cover page to start with that uh just gives some
information talks about the just the the guidelines and then it has a self- evaluation component that is essentially the same as the evaluation piece that um I would fill out for the for the administrator and it's on a one to four scale let me see if I can make that there we go what did we use prior to this just it was a tool um called um Talent Ed and it was there was a fee for it um it was not the greatest or easiest uh document to use and we paid about4 to $5,000 worth what this is free like was the thing about the like the the certified staff is very generic so you have a counselor you have and it fit the teacher mold but not anybody else and the administrator one was
okay um I just it it it just didn't it didn't fit the way this seems to fit in my op in my opinion much better um and it's free and it is free and we talk and so you know you can see it it kind of has the different standards that are addressed and so so there's like a self- evaluation the supervisor evaluation is exactly the same so if I do a self- evaluation on Matt or Matt does a self- evaluation on himself then I do the the actual supervisor evaluation it will total up the the scoring and the ratings um and then we'll have that discussion on the pre and post evaluation conference you'll be this for the next year for actually for this year for this year yes if you guys appr so
again it's uh we're we're approving these as we're getting these from Green Bush today I had a meeting um to go over a couple of other different tools I think it was the counselor one and uh counselor social worker one so um anyway they're working on these feverishly with a group of of of Administrators throughout the state uh to try to get the best evaluation tool that fits each of the jobs so anyway I'm kind of just scrolling through these slow as as best as I can if I'm going too fast just let me know and I apologize I thought that link that link works for me but I probably didn't for you can you just PDF and yes I could that I I I just it wasn't it wasn't uh I I just I
went to the link I attached the link thinking that the link was going to work I'm so move to approve the Green Bush evaluation tools for administrators and specialist for 2023 2024 school year second first and second uh discussion
