011years i can't believe how you have grown up help all right can't believe how you've grown up some of you have been a part of my church family and i can't wait to see how all of you do on your journey now through high school when i was your age sitting in those chairs my brothers told me how fast high school went my parents said the same thing and all of a sudden i graduated i felt like i blinked and high school was over from the tip of the iceberg as big bad 8th graders to under the water fighting for air as freshmen i know some of you are nervous and some maybe not seriously though it isn't that bad it is important to surround yourself with people that want the best for you and

012support you i would encourage you to get involved in extracurricular activities like sports fan cheer and so many clubs to be a part of this will help you meet new people and find your happy place and make new friends all the activities you do will also look good on a resume when that time comes choose classes that will challenge you but not overwhelm you find a balance with school activities you choose you're not just in high school to kill yourself with core subjects making all a's although yes grades are important but you are there to learn so much more when you don't even think about it the activities you choose will help you think critically about things that matter to you building problem solving skills leadership skills discipline time management and teamwork you will use

013all those traits and skills as you move on into the real world and really build relationships with your teachers they do so much more than you can then you see it's not just grading papers and teaching a lesson they write letters of recommendation and nominate you for scholarships and other clubs they give you valuable feedback and opportunities they will have those tough conversations with you that you may not want to hear but need to listen trust me a positive relationship with your teachers will go a long way high school is one of the most important and impactful times in your life it can set you up for your future career as young adults yes it can be stressful at times and challenges will arise one way or the other but don't be afraid try new

014things challenge yourself and get involved this is your job for the next four years so go out and find who you are and who you can become it won't be perfect every step of the way but with family and friends by your side you can make it to the top before i close i want to share some things i have tried to live up to i think if you do these seven simple things throughout high school it'll be a breeze number one be kind you have the power to make people feel good number two don't give up if it doesn't work the first time find another way number three don't compare everyone is on a different path number four avoid negativity avoid negative thoughts situations and people number five make peace with your past focus
