Call to order. Pledge to the flag. >> I pledge to the >> Oh, excuse me. Excuse me. >> I'd like to have a moment of silence for former school board member Beverly Kalinowski who passed away on Sunday. >> Okay. >> I pledge allegiance >> to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Roll call. >> Mr. Cullen. >> Here. >> Ms. Curran. >> Here. >> Mr. DeAngelo. >> Here. >> Mr. Nemeth. >> Here. >> Ms. Pagliaro. >> Here. >> Mr. Paliafito. >> Here. >> Mr. Perullo. >> Here. >> Mr. Steltner. >> Here. >> Mr. Smith. >> Here. >> Solicitor executive session report. >> Yeah, thank you, Mr. President. There are two executive sessions to report

on tonight. The first was from two nights ago, May May 19th, 2026. All board members were present along with Dr. Davis, Mr. McHugh, and Dr. Smith and myself. Items discussed were personnel, collective bargaining, contracts, and informational items in that executive session was from 6:05 to 7:47. Tonight, the executive session started approximately 6:30 p.m. All board members were present and for a time Dr. Davis and Mr. McHugh and myself. Items discussed were personnel and informational items in that executive session concluded just before this meeting started. That is my report. >> Thank you, Mr. Trudnak. >> You're welcome. >> I'd like to approve the agenda with said addendum or tabled item. >> I motion to approve. >> Second. >> Any questions? All those in favor? >> I. I. >> Nays? Abstention? Reports and presentation, Dr. Rojas Davis,

superintendent. >> Yes, Mr. President. Uh Thanks. When I came on board, uh Mr. George Gatto served as the school uh safety coordinator. Uh last year I made the move and appointed uh Mr. Poplawski uh to serve in that capacity uh as school as uh safety and security coordinator. And one of the things that I and I've been sending him to uh meetings at the Bucks County Intermediate Unit. As you know, uh safety and security's a big thing in just not just Bristol, but all through our country. Uh um one of the things that I asked him to look into uh for next year is doing a total building-by-building threat assessment uh to get that report. Also, the on as everyone understands, the cyber and all the other things that are going on um uh with

schools uh and have and work with the Bristol Boroughs uh Police Department uh to talk about how that process goes. We did it years ago, but I think uh it now needs to be up dated to to meet the needs even from a uh technological point of view. Uh and have that report readily available and to be able to share that threat assessment with the Board of Education that will with Snyder, which will deal with the district office, and which will deal with the high school. Okay? And through that combination um to make recommendations on how we improve in the area of safety and security. >> Uh question with that. Speaking of the security with the cyber and social media, do we have any uh, discipline um, in in place for students like I've been

seeing lately in different school districts where they're posting and they're using AI images of other kids doing things but it's not really them. They're putting their faces on it, uh, nudity. Like, do we have anything in place for if any student in our school district >> Mr. Matassi? >> Yes. >> We do? >> Yes. Yeah. >> We probably don't want to talk about it publicly. The teachers >> Don't talk about that too much publicly. >> You know that we do. That's my I was just going to say we do. That's all. >> And and it's a hard thing because much of it happens outside of school. >> Yeah. >> Yes. >> But that's a difficult part. And so, you know, it's a hard thing but the school can't really distance itself from it because you

can't tell me that a kid is being bullied or outside of school and then they're in school and and the the bullies are being nice to them. >> Yep. So, uh, >> Okay. Thank you. >> have one question for Dr. Davis, uh, um, I just saw a report from the the state that there's a law that's it's queued up to pass that there's you're going to have we're going to have to have IEDs at every athletic event. >> That's correct. >> At every one. >> AEDs. >> Talk about that privately. >> I said I That's what I meant. Not the IEPs. No, but we have the AEDs. So, now we've got them in both schools, right? We've got AEDs in both schools. >> We have them in the mystical office. >> And and I and

I think that our our trainer might have a portable one, too, Chris. >> Yes. >> But what they're saying is if it's a cross country track, >> That's it. >> hockey, >> Yes, someone >> uh what whatever, baseball game, it's got to be there. So, uh now, the good news is it's going to be incorporated into the safety grant uh next year. So, but my point is a good thing that you get Mr. Bob's going to have to say, "Hey, we need 12 of them. We need 13." And then you do the training during your active >> professional development >> So, I mean, that's coming. So, that's >> The timing is perfect, but the main one is that the board get a a a report on the analysis of the of their test. >> So,

when they John, you're saying that at every sporting event. So, you're at a track meet, there's six schools there. So, all six schools would have to have an AED >> No, you're the home team. >> So, the home Okay. Okay. >> But, you know, on any given day, I mean, think about it. We we don't even have a trainer at every every game. If there's a football game, we have the trainer, you know, that takes precedence. And so, they're not all kind of running at the same time, but uh you know, that's it's it's going to ultimately I think it's going to that's where it's going to end up. So, >> Right. >> Any other point? Thank you. >> Oh, thank you. >> Dr. Julie Bowser, elementary principal. >> Federal programs update including title one

and title four, title one family engagement, math and literacy night for grades K to three. We had a great turnout. Grades four and six will be held on May 26th. We had over 20 students attend our pre-K transition day last week. Title four, our STEM gifted and enrichment. Mr. Crosson, our STEM teacher, was just awarded a $5,200 grant from Amazon Bucks County Community Fund to ChangeX. The grant will support a digital fabrication and entrepreneurial lab project. Our annual Kids Walk for Cure will be held tomorrow on the Pond Street side of school. And we had a great turnout for our science and art showcase last week. Our band and chorus are very talented and they did a wonderful job. And lastly, field day is scheduled for June 3rd. >> Thank you, Dr. Bowser. I would

just say and thank you, Georgia. And that's 26. So, that's going to be the last math night for for Dawn. >> Yes. >> So, if any of you guys have you can walk over or stop over at 6:00. She's really done a great job and that that's going to be something that we really need to continue. So, I I hope that you know, she's she maybe she'll come back for a year to keep things rolling. But but but thank you for always making that a top priority, Georgia. >> Um Mr. Nick Nastasi, high school principal. >> Title one update. Our middle school math goal has been met as per results from our spring testing. 68% of our our middle school students have improved their overall math skills from the first FastBridge probe in the fall.

Just want to say great job to all of our middle school math teachers. They put a lot of time and effort into this goal. All final exam times and dates will be posted tomorrow on our on our media pages, school website, and Google Classrooms. There'll be no school on Monday, May 25th. Graduation's Tuesday, June 9th at 6:00. Um I'd like to thank everyone who participated yesterday in our new track ceremony. It was a uh um a a a wonderful uh ceremony for um not just our students, but all the people in the in our community. Um I want to say good luck to all of our athletes in the state tournaments. Um I just got an update from Coach Nate Eddings that our athletes are uh they just ate. They're in Shippensburg, track athletes, and

they're all tucked away in their dorm rooms right now. Um and it's I didn't put it on here, but I want to um just say uh a word about our music concert last week. Um I attended the music concert last week. I want to thank everyone who showed up. Um it was it it sounded it it was unbelievable. I was blown away by how talented and and how much the music program is growing. And to see, you know, sixth graders, seventh graders, eighth graders up there on the stage with all these eyeballs on them and all those kids and it it it takes a lot of guts to be up there to perform and it sounded so great. So, um, I would encourage everybody next time that, um, you can make it, please make it.

It was wonderful. >> I was there, man. It was really good. It was really good. Nick, I just wanted to ask you, uh, >> Yes. >> I think I saw so they compete tomorrow and Saturday. >> Track. >> Yeah, tomorrow and Saturday. >> Okay, and I think it's on the PCN network. I think some of those >> It is. >> races are on. So, if you got cable here, it's it's I don't know what channel it is, you know. >> 286. >> 186. >> Yes. >> But, you know, and and again, you got to watch cuz I think they'll put the schedule up. >> Yeah. >> And but but but it's, uh, you know, encourage everybody and, uh, and again, that was a great, uh, opening for our track. Uh, and think about what these

kids did. Um, you know, they're on they're on the state championship competing and and they didn't even have their own track to run on. >> Yeah. >> And and so, that really says a lot about the kids that would get up every day and run wherever Coach Angela would tell them and have them running and, uh, they really got a good chance to get some medals, too. So, >> Yes. >> Well, that to that point, I like to tag on that it's, uh, says a lot about a Coach Nate Hadden. >> Yes. >> His first year, I believe he was coach of the year. >> Yes. >> And he's just a done a tremendous job. So, uh, report, comprehensive plan, special education plan, title one, two, and four. Thank you. >> I I had one

more thing, please. >> Yes, you're right ahead. >> girls, um, state final the district final game was canceled today. It will be Tuesday at 4:00 at Bensalem High School. Just so everybody knows. >> Okay, public participation. >> Passing. >> I assume most will have to talk tonight. >> How you doing? I just want to Coach Angelo Petrocci, I'm the middle school coach and help with the Nathan and Megan and Schlegel. And we reiterate with Nick said it was an awesome opening ceremony yesterday. I know more than half of you people up here are big coaches if it's sports or math or art or whatever, you know. I competed against Brodus when he was the coach of Bristol's track team. It was a fantastic day. We did a run through at the school today around noon.

The kids are up there and I just want to thank you know, I was at I was at a council meeting a couple weeks ago thanking them and I want to just thank you on behalf of the coaching staff like thanks for everybody working together with the Senator Santarsiero and Representative Tina Davis for, you know, all we did and it is a fantastic track. I don't know how many of these we've run, but if you if you go out there I ran one lap. That's all I had left, you know, in me, but I'll be good for another 10 years. But it was just fantastic. I just want to say thank you to everybody. >> Well, I like to thank you for all that you've done and kept this program going and then all through

I know you were one of the driving forces of getting that redone. You did a terrific job. >> I want to I want to thank you Angelo for your dedication to these kids and and your and your awesome input. Means an awful lot to us. Thank you very much. >> And my grandfather was on the track team in the 30s. I don't know who his track coach is, but he obviously made a good impression on him cuz he you know, he influenced John Mundy and Chick DeAngelo's dad helped coach Mundy. He coached me. He coached my kids. If my grandfather was at the the school and didn't like the track coach, who knows that that butterfly effect went over went about 100 years from now. >> Right. >> Nick, did you have a Yeah. >>

Is it open to the public now? Do we know that? >> It is. As a matter of fact, um while I was getting ready to leave yesterday, I got a text from one of my uh Yavani White who was a classmate of uh my youngest. They're uh they graduated in 2025. And he's like, "Is the track open?" I said, "The padlock's off and you will be the first public one there." And I was coaching uh Yavani when he was a I think he was second grade. So, and he ran at Widener last year. So, he's he's he's getting in shape again for that. So, thanks for >> Now, do they have rules up for so people don't put bikes in there or anything? >> I think we're trying to get some signs made like no

uh no high heels or no boots and no uh you know, soccer spikes and no chairs. But, I think some of the goals is maybe to get the the finish line One of we made three improvements, big improvements. One was we moved the long jump pit from the far side to the end zone if you can think of the end zone. And they they're alternating, too. So, you can have two people running if the wind's blowing in one direction, you can just use one pit. Um we also extended the the the shoot on the other uh on the side closest to the path. So, what we did was we have the starting primary starting line at the bike path. So, now people can go and not like look across the field or go sit with

in the in the weeds on the other side. And the third was a minor one. We we actually have a double stripe. So, we actually can run the 100 meter on the far side again if there's like a stiff wind or during practice it's nice hey, we'll practice on the far side. That way it'll get less use than the uh than the other side. So, um Andrew, I have a question, too. I think didn't they didn't they also buy some kind of match or something to >> They did. I think Yes, I think Fred was looking Yeah. >> They're playing >> To kind of cover the walkway where where uh people will can walk if they're walking on there. >> And if a field hockey game or whatever they do. >> Exactly, for the spikes

and everything like that. So, I know that the the school was looking to get get that purchase. I know Fred was talking about it to me. He's like, "I got these mats coming in pretty soon." So, that's that that that's pretty good. >> Actually, he said they got they got they got the mats. >> Okay, great. Yeah. >> And Nick, it's it's one of the things that like that track was donated 25 years ago. And what happened is that we really dropped the ball because we don't really take care of it. We don't really monitor it. We didn't, you know. And so, it's incumbent upon us. Even though it still belongs to the borough, it's going to get turned back over to us soon one one day. And so, I know you talked with Mr.

Potts. Make sure that our, you know, our maintenance guys and and and our teams take care of it, right? Because, you know, it'll last a long time, but we don't want kids riding bikes and so, I appreciate The other thing I want to say is coach, aren't you the last coach to coach a state champion track at Bristol? His name was James Laidler. >> Yeah, his name was Laidler. >> And he won the and he and he came out of nowhere and he won the long jump, right? >> I was a triple jumper. I was a triple jumper, too. So, I know. Yes. >> Well, I told you so. So, you're the last guy to get a state champion, man. Good for you. >> And I did forget to mention Ron Shart. I had I

had his name written down of all the coaches I mentioned and I forgot Ron and Ron was actually won the state championship. With Beanie White and um So, yeah. Two of them and they won and uh Bobby Mulligan. So, >> And then there's Jim Citelli who who had forgets how to count. >> Yeah. >> He tells you to run hundreds, but he don't tell you how many times. >> Yeah, just keep running. No, it was it was great. I enjoyed you know, I started coaching track. Tony was on the St. Mark's team, so >> Oh, yeah. >> It's been >> sucked me right on in. >> Yeah. Yep. So, but I just want to thank you know, I think it really came together well. One of the things I teach when I coach I'm in

the middle school, I learned this from uh Bobby Orr book, like he talks about respect and responsibility. So, when I talk to the it's like the first day of practice, respect and responsibility. Respect your teammates, the coaches, the facilities, your opponents, the coaches, the you know, the other coaches, the officials, but it's also the the the facilities. Regardless if it's ours or another school, and you know, if you do something wrong, we're going to take responsibility for it. >> Keep Keep talking that. >> Yep. So, they they all know now even at the high school and the middle school, like you got to curse the other kids, you got to do 10 push-ups. You got to do 10 push-ups when you curse. So, they're either going to get in better shape or they're going to

learn how to talk better. So, either Either way we win. So, I just want to thank everybody and and hopefully the meet is tomorrow. Like Nick said, it's going to be Saturday if they qualify for the 4 by 1. Top eight teams qualify. Um and I don't know about the the PCN. I heard I heard it's also possibly could be on MileSplit. So, if you go on MileSplit PA, I don't I'm not sure. You might have to have a paid subscription. I have that as a coach just to do a lot of the things, but in the middle as a shout-out, we're doing shout-outs. My middle school track team, we're having our championships next Wednesday at uh at Truman. Yeah, and we're competing and one of the kids that I had last year, and I'm

like, this kid's going to be good cuz he's medaling and we compete against Bensalem, Bristol Township, you know, the big school districts. Noah Taylor, who was the freshman on our team, he was he he grabbed the second, third, and fourth last year in the 1, 2, and the 4. So, he's a good athlete. He can compete with the best of them and he's he he he's a freshman, so we got we got him for three more years, too. >> a few years. >> So, yep. Thank you so much. Thank you. >> Hello folks. I'm here on behalf of the Bristol Elks and I'm also resident here in the in the borough. I would like to begin a collaboration with the district for student of the month recognition uh due to community service. So, that was

specific focus on community service. I actually am a high school math teacher um through uh Northern Burlington in Columbus, New Jersey, and have been able to nominate my students for the past 14 years through the Bordentown Elks. And having that collaboration, I've seen students really blossom and take ownership of different um aspects of the community and really get more involved because of that. So, I'd like to start the same thing here for our kids. Um I am a a 26-year resident here in the borough um and have newly become affiliated with the Elks organization. They don't have that program. I've spoken with both of the principals, Dr. Davis, and they're on board, and I just wanted to ask the for Board of Ed's approval. I've typed up some bullet points. Um I just wanted to

see if there were any questions. Um I can share the bullet points with you if that's okay. Yeah, okay. Thank you. >> Do you have it? >> Yeah, I have >> Okay. >> I mean, some of the things that I know as a high school teacher um that are confidential in nature would be any any identifiable information. So, it would just be a student's name that would be shared with the Elks organization. We would send out an invitation to the families um and invite them in just to the house side of the of the lodge and just do a little recognition ceremony and giving them a a small gift um and a certificate. So, it it would just be something that would uh hopefully going forward starting in the fall of 2026. >> Now, would

this be for both schools? >> Yes, yes. >> And one student from each school? >> You know, I talked to uh Julie uh at length about that, and she was talking about maybe doing a couple different grade levels. Um so, we'll work that out. I mean, it's just we just want to this is brand new. Try to feel what will work for the schools just to try to encourage them. I know that ninth graders are unique and special in their own way. I don't know if Nick has a particular heart for a particular group at the high school. But whatever the need is, so a collaboration is what we're looking for. >> That's great. >> I I love it. >> And you talked to them and that's that's good stuff. >> I love it. >>

Okay. And and you know, you're you're right here. I you know, uh They have a the bottoms up. Are you familiar with that program? One of one of the members at the Elks, they give a they give a scholarship, right? They give a scholarship. And so listen, just meet with them. >> Yep. >> Great stuff. >> Okay. >> I don't think anybody here would object to this. >> Okay. All right. Thank you for >> Thank you and thank you for starting it and good luck. >> All right. Thank you for your >> But if there's anything that you need from us, then please reach out to us. >> Okay. I appreciate that. Thank you very much. Sometimes I know for my district, students are recognized at the Board of Ed meeting and then also at

the at the Elks Lodge. It would be at different nights, so it wouldn't be a a conflict in any way. >> We'll we'll fit them in. >> Okay. All right. Thank you very much for your time. Thank you. >> Thank you. Anyone else? That closes out public participation. Item what is that? Number six? >> Five. >> Six. >> No, number six. >> Yeah, you're going to six. >> Uh Item six, routine monthly business. I like to make a motion to approve the minutes of April 16th and May 7th, 2026 meeting, approve the list of bills for May 2026, and approve the treasurer's report for April 2026. >> Mr. John, second. >> Second. >> Any questions? Information discussion, the next public board meeting will be held Wednesday, June 10th, 2026, the day after our students graduate. Anybody down here have anything? Go ahead. >> I do. I got a couple things. I I was going to talk about the track, but I guess we all cleared that up earlier. And also, I did want to say that I did go to the band concert. It was like Nick said, it was outstanding. It was It was I was It was kind of unbelievable. It was exactly what It was really that good. I didn't get a chance to make the elementary one, but but the high school one, if that's an

any indication, it was it was just unbelievable. Um also, I'm a member of the Bristol Lions, and we had a meeting last night, and uh we're the Lions organization is giving like $10,000 to scholarships this year. I just wanted to let uh you know, the board know that that that's how much they're giving this year. They're even even giving a scholarship to uh Bishop or an Egan or Camo Egan. Camo Egan. Camo Egan student, too. So, I just wanted to let >> Now, is that broken out like is that would be Would that be 10, or is it just one big lump sum? >> it's it's 10,000. There's I think there's maybe nine. >> Oh, okay. >> They're They're you know, who's getting 2,000, 1,000. It's depending on the So, it was depending on their

need and their uh applications. Um but also, something that's important I don't know, that that scholarship that the Lions give out, you can reapply for it every year. You don't have to be a senior. You could be You could reap reapply for that scholarship every year. >> While you're in college? >> Yes. >> That's amazing. >> Wow. >> And and they really and they and it's been I don't know if it's been uh like I said, I I know because I've been on the like 30 some years in in the the Lions, but a lot of students know to come back. You know, you don't even have to be a student to apply for for uh uh scholarship. You could be you know, 40 years old and you want to go back to school, you

could put you could >> Really? But it's only for education, correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> So, I mean so but that's big that you can always come back. I mean, there's a lot of students that do come back and they that's ones that they know that are continuing their education and they're they're more than willing to you know, to to give them uh you know, money again. >> That's awesome. >> So. >> It really is. >> And that's all I had, I think. >> Anyone else? Anyone down here? >> No. >> John? >> No, just Nick. I did go to the one down here the concert and it was really good, too. >> Yeah. >> And it's there's an army of kids down here.
