That is my report. >> Thank you um, Mr. True Love. >> You're welcome. >> Okay. uh public participation on this side of the room. >> Yes. >> Good evening board. I am speaking to you today as a member of
the Pennsylvania Council Lunch Deck Coalition. Um a few weeks ago I had reached out to members of the board and the school district asking about whether the board was considering or aware of a federal program called the community eligibility provision. Um, and I was actually very very excited to hear from the business manager, Christopher Mchugh, that the board was planning to pursue this into the next school year. Um, so I wanted to just from the bottom of my heart really thank the board for being open to considering this program. Um, it's a program that helps uh ensure that kids are fed in schools, which is a very important thing close to the bottom of my heart. Um, and what I wanted to also invite the board members to do, if you are available after this
meeting, a few other members of the coalition will be hanging around. We'd be happy to connect one-on-one and speak to you further about why this is important and other steps that we can take to ensure that um lunch school lunch uh prices are not a burden on people and on students. Um you can also find the Pennsylvania lunch coalition on uh on the website at nolunchdet.org or at our email nolunchdetgmail.com. would really really really um just want to again say thank you to the board for being open to this and to the business manager for sharing very very quickly actually within like an hour that they were already planning on pursuing this. So thank you once again. >> Thank [clears throat] you. >> Hi, I'm Shannon. I'm a burough resident and part of the no
uh lunch debt coalition. Um, I support the application of the C program. Um, particularly as my nephew um receives lunch over in the township. Um, my request is that for the board to consider cancelling um all proceeding lunch debt to allow all burough students to receive lunch before the C program goes into effect. You know, we are very proud uh the coalition that the bureau cancelled um $21,000 worth of lunch debt in 200 uh 22. Um and this and I ask that this can occur again so that all students may be able to have the fuel to learn and thrive. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> All righty. Thank you so much. which I'll try to be quick. I don't want to repeat myself too much. My name is Paul Broulette. Um I am an
educator. Um I know as a teacher uh the the effects of student hunger and I just really quickly want to thank the board and the business manager for taking this step. Um there's over a thousand students in this school district and you should be proud that hopefully next year when this goes through each and every one of them will be able to eat and you know have full bellies and be able to focus on learning. Thank you so much. I'd also like to echo um I do think it's really important and I'm really happy that the school board has taken steps in the past to alleviate the burden of lunch debt from students. I really think that you know with this fresh start with the C getting intro introduced it would be excellent if the
board decided to cancel all that lunch debt again and uh you know really allow those families and those students to focus on learning. So again, thank you so much. I am so excited. It's it's in my opinion rare um to see, you know, school boards um and districts always have the best interest of the kids at heart and you can tell Bristolboro is one of those districts.
