We're going to go a little bit out of order from our agenda. So, if the the girls basketball team would please come on up front first. Come on up front, girls. They had a lot of outstanding accomplishments this year and uh they're going to be recognized by Representative Rinkevich. Thank you, members of the school board for having me here today and to all of our guests that are in the room and families. It's an honor to be here. Um if I had not had the pleasure of meeting you, I'm State Representative Alec Rinkevich. I represent the 65,000 uh constituents from Edwardsville all the way up
to Mountain Top through uh Nanticoke and the West Side communities. And I'm happy to be here to celebrate two years of back-to-back final four. And I think these girls deserve a round of applause for that accomplishment. Every time I am invited back to Crestwood, it is always for something good and I'm always pleased to be here to recognize the outstanding accomplishments. And today what I've brought with me are two of the highest awards you can receive from a member of the state legislature. And I have a proclamation from myself on behalf of the 203 House of Representatives signed by Joanna E. McClinton, the Speaker of the House, as well as a Senate citation presented by Senators Dave Argall, Elizabeth Baker, and Linda Schlegel Culver and signed by the President pro tem of the Senate, Kim
Ward. And I would like to just read a little bit of what these proclamations say. And it said and it reads, "Whereas the House of Representatives of Pennsylvania takes great pleasure in recognizing the outstanding achievements realized by the youth of this nation in a spirit of personal sacrifice, commitment to a common goal, and unity of purpose. Whereas the Crestwood Secondary School Girls Basketball Team is being honored upon capturing first place during the 2025-2026 PIAA District 2 Class 5A Girls Basketball Championship. And whereas the Lady Comets won their second consecutive district title by defeating North Pocono High School with a score of 57 to 32. They further distinguished themselves during the season by advancing to the semi-final round of the state championships and amassing a record of 26 wins and four losses, which set a school
record for the most wins in a season. Under the expert guidance of Head Coach Mary Mushock Nanny and Assistant Coaches Randy Clem, Nia Johnson, and Chuck Hiller. Now, therefore, the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania pays tribute to the members and coaches of the Crestwood Secondary Schools Girls Basketball Team, as well as those who assisted them upon their well-deserved recognition and championship win, and acknowledges their investment of skill and effort in competing on a level which demands perfection. And we extend our best wishes for every future success and personal fulfillment, and directs that a copy of this citation, sponsored by the Honorable Alec J. Brun Cabbage on May 6th, 2026, be presented to the girls Lady Comets. Congratulations. And I want to give a special shout-out to Mr. Naimy. Without Mr. Naimy leading
the effort, it, you know, so many of these students wouldn't be recognized. So, I think we should give a round of applause to him as well for his help making sure that good stories get out there in the community. Would it be okay if we did a photo? All right. I think the members of the board should join as well. Congratulations, girls. Thank you for the recognition. I do have to run to a meeting, believe it or not, but I do also want to give a shout-out to the other students, the athletes that are being recognized here, all of our state athletes. Congratulations, and thank you for having me this evening and thank you to the board for uh your um your graciousness with your scheduling. Thank you. On behalf of the girls basketball team,

She's an exceptional student whose leadership and character positively impacts everyone around her. We are so proud of her. Way to be a soaring comet. Our next soaring comet from Rice Elementary is Giani Dilia. Giani is Mr. Congeniality. He brightens our classroom every day with his smile, charisma, and infectious positive energy. His vibrant demeanor is the best way to start the day. He is a main contributor in Mrs. Nicholas's science class, always participating and leading the discussion with both thoughtful questions and answers it. In math class, he has made huge strides since the beginning of the year. Mrs. Nicholas and Mrs. Healy comment that Giani is a strong student. Not only does he speak
seek math help if needed, but he also talks through his mathematical thinking to help get him to the correct answers. His confidence in math academics have grown so much. Gianni is truly a joy to have in class. He goes above and beyond expectations. He consistently puts forth his best effort and takes pride in all that he does. Teachers and peers alike can rely on him because he is dependable, motivated, and always willing to help others. His drive to succeed, combined with his compassion and leadership, makes him an exceptional role model for his classmates. In Mr. Junis' ELA and social studies classrooms, Gianni naturally takes initiative during discussions, sharing thoughtful ideas, and encouraging his classmates to participate. His positive attitude and confidence help create a welcoming and engaging environment for everyone around him. Gianni is the
type of student who not only excels academically, but also inspires others through his kindness, maturity, and enthusiasm for learning. Beyond the classroom, Gianni is actively involved in a variety of activities that showcases dedication and teamwork. He participates in the class play, where he brings energy and commitment every rehearsal and performance. In addition, he is a hard-working member of both the football and baseball teams. Whether on the field, on stage, or in the classroom, Gianni demonstrates excellent sportsmanship, determination, and responsibility. His ability to balance academics and extracurricular activities speaks volumes about his character and strong work ethic. Gianni's outstanding qualities and commitment to excellence make him highly deserving of recognition and praise as a soaring comet. And I I also want to recognize the Race Elementary faculty that was here as well to recognize the soaring
comets. Once again, congratulations to all of our soaring comets. We were set to recognize FBLA this evening. Unfortunately, we cannot because of the change in date conflicted with too many of the members. Uh FBLA did an amazing job, and we will speak to their accomplishments at future meetings. At this time, we'd like to recognize our All-State athletes. Our first recognition will be for the field hockey team. So, could coach Jardine please come to the podium? Welcome, coach. Thank you very much for having us here. >> Come on up, girls. You got to come up here. Thank you my very much for having us here tonight. Our first senior that we're going to talk about tonight is Alex Geiger. Alex was a first team All-State selection this season. She served as one of our two team
captains and our center midfielder. She helped our team win the first Wyoming Valley Conference championship in a decade and our second straight district championship. Alex played a key role on our offensive and defensive corner unit, and she finished the season with five goals and five assists. Alex couldn't be here tonight. Our second All-State player is Maddie Geiger. Maddie was also a first team All-State selection this season. She served as one of our two team captains as well as our goalkeeper. She helped our team win the Wyoming Valley Conference championship and our second straight district championship. Maddie recorded 16 shutouts on the season, only allowing nine goals on 102 shots. >> [snorts] >> Maddie also could not be here tonight. Our next All-State selection is Lexi Zabrowski. Lexi was a second team All-State selection this season.
She helped lead a defense a fierce defensive unit this season that only allowed nine goals in 23 games. She played a key role in helping our team secure the Wyoming Valley Conference Championship as well as our second consecutive district championship. She served a critical role on our defensive corner unit and recorded two defensive saves on the season. Lexi could also not be here with us tonight as she is graduating from the junior leadership. Our next nominee was Ali George. Ali George was a second team all-state selection this season. She was one of our four starting forwards. 020was Casey Obbs, first team all-state. Casey was one of our four starting forwards. She helped our team win the Wyoming Valley Conference Championship as well as our second state district championship. She played a critical role on our offensive corner unit and stepped up in a key role on our defensive corner unit down the stretch. She tallied eight goals and 13 assists on the season. Congratulations, [snorts] guys. Next, we're going to recognize our soccer. Okay, tonight Oh, am I close enough? Okay. I don't want to yell. Okay. Tonight, I am talking about Jordan Andrews. I have had the privilege of knowing Jordan since she was a little little girl. Uh now, I've had the honor of getting to coach her last couple of years of Crestwood soccer. And watching her grow into this incredible, hardworking young
woman. Her energy, leadership is a coach's dream. She is the perfect representation of who a Crestwood Comet should be, relentless, determined, and with a heart of gold. She has the school scoring record now of 123 goals. Uh received our All-State honor, which I'm pretty sure you can double-check me, but it's the only second person to do it in girls soccer history. And is one of our three captains this year. So, I'm ready to cheer her on and can't wait to see all that you will accomplish on and off the field at the collegiate level at Bloomsburg. So, I'm very proud of you. >> And now we're going to recognize basketball. Once again, coach. All right. Tonight we have two members of our girls basketball team. Uh Kira Dougherty and Jackie Gallagher. Kira Dougherty has been
honored with the second team All-State selection. Kira has earned this through her relentless competitiveness and her resilience. Throughout the season she consistently demonstrated the ability to rise above every challenge, competing with intensity and determination on both ends of the floor. Whether facing adversity, which we all know that is what she has done dealt with all year long, tough opponents or pressure-filled moments, Kira never backed down and continually elevated her game while inspiring those all around her. Her toughness, leadership, and work ethic set the standard for her teammates and her passion for basketball is evident every single time she steps onto the court. Kira's ability to overcome obstacles in her career at Crestwood have taken her to the next level on the court. Uh Kira scored her thousandth point this year um and is a third
team or a three-time first All-Conference for our Wyoming Valley as well. So, congratulations, Kira. And second, we have Jackie Gallagher who was named first team All-State. Um she was she's actually a repeat as she was third team All-State last year as well. Um Jackie earned these honors because of her outstanding work ethic ethic, fierce competitiveness, and constant drive to improve every single day. She approaches the game with unmatched determination, putting in countless hours to develop her skills while always pushing herself and her teammates to be better. Jackie competes with intensity and confidence in every practice and game, never backing down from a challenge, and constantly giving maximum effort. What separates her even farther is her commitment to growth. Jackie is never, ever satisfied, always looking for ways to elevate her game and contribute more to
her team's success. At Crestwood, she also scored her 1,000 point this year, but she now holds um quite a few records. Uh she has the most threes made in a season, the best free throw percentage in a season, the best field goal percentage in a season, and is tied for the most three pointers all time at Crestwood. Her dedication, leadership, and passion for basketball makes her an excellent representation of what an all-star all-state player should be. Congratulations, Jackie. I have the honor of recognizing our two cross country all-state athletes. So, Mason and Katie, could please come forward? Let us start by recognizing Mason, and this is from their coach, Coach Moulton. When I think of Mason, I think of strength and perseverance. Mason hopped into the high school running scene with great success in his
early career after years of hard work starting at a young age. He had many successful seasons, including district individual titles his junior and senior year of cross country, as well as a 3,200 m district champion title his junior year. However, his story is behind the scenes. He has dealt with some physical injuries and other health concerns on a deeper level. Mason always handled things the way a coach would want to want him to. He knew his time would come to shine and pass and get past these struggles. We often would compare this to the ups and downs of life, and things will never come easy. I've truly have never seen an athlete handle hardships with this positive of an attitude of the reality of the situation while also maintaining some big goals for himself and
his team. He has become such a leader for our team and is first to step up in some sort if some sort of coaching on the mental side of running comes into play for another teammate. Mason will truly be missed by all his coaches. In Mason's senior year of cross country, he got a big time goal of a state or excuse me, he got a big time goal of a state medal, 11th in the double A state championships. We are grateful to have Mason come through our program and we will thoroughly miss him. I believe a major impact of Mason will be seen in the success of the program over the next years. Congratulations, Mason. Katie, when I think of Katie, I think of someone who is the most consistent and coachable. Katie's freshman year
was solid. However, her story is a story of growth. She was not number one on the team or even in the top five her freshman year. Instead, she had become determined where she decided she was going to do everything to become the best runner she can be. Many athletes work off talent a lot, but Katie's story is one of listening to her coaches and being willing to put in any amount of work. Many athletes think they know it all once they become one of the top athletes in their sport. Katie picked up on things very quickly. However, she was always looking for a ways to get better. This may mean race tactic, training methods, or simply coming to the extra optional stuff like weight lifting after a tough practice. In addition to Katie's work ethic,
she was a wonderful leader as a captain for our program. Every girl and boy on the team respects Katie. At states, Katie medaled this year in a very difficult triple A race at 23rd overall. She has now earned a state medal twice in cross country, once in double A sophomore year and now in the triple A her junior year. We are truly blessed to have Katie on our team and wish her the best in her future running career. Congratulations, BOTH. WELL, IT'S EVIDENT WE HAVE A LOT OF RECOGNITION. ATHLETES, thank you so much for coming. Uh you and any of one who was recognized this evening, if you would like to depart early, we certainly understand before the Board of Education gets into its business uh or conducting school business. There is one other bit
of recognition that I do want to mention. Our artists, our fine arts who participated in the Fine Arts Fiesta. Our high school art students did a great job representing Crestwood at this year's Fine Arts Fiesta. Over 30 Crestwood students' work were accepted into the jury exhibit with several receiving special recognition. Maya Shafka won numerous first place. Uh Amelia uh Amelia McLaughlin won multiple awards along with Carly Deschenko, Abigail Chisuara, Chloe Withers, and Evelyn Harmon. Are any of these students present this evening? Well, in absence, congratulations for your fine artwork. And that concludes my report. Thank you. We'll move on. Uh public comment on agenda non-agenda items. Um We truly value the input of our community and appreciate you joining us this evening. In accordance with Board Policy 903, Board the Board of School Directors recognizes

Uh so, um at this time, uh the ladies from CASE still here? Would you like to make a report? Hello. It's on, right? Okay. Uh my name is Denise Weiss, w e i s s, and I'm
representing CASE, the Crestwood Area Community Education Group uh team, and I just wanted to go over a few things because we are just about to finalize the spring semester. And I have prepared some documents for each of the board members, and one of the first items is the revenue and expenses. Um overall, we had a total of 262 registered students. We had a total number of 21 rostered courses. Four had to be canceled because of low enrollment. Um and as you can see from the list that I have here, it's actually still in draft because we're not yet closing the semester for spring. We have one final class that's going to be held on Tuesday, and we're waiting for one more student payment. So, once that's done, I'll be able to send that to um
the secretary, of of course the acting superintendent, and the business manager. Um but as we stand right now, we're in good shape. The the program is paying for itself with a small profit of $748, which is enough to pay the insurance that is due this August. I think it's August or Sep- it's uh late August, early September. Um the insurance is about $500. So, right now the program is self- self-sustaining, which is always the goal. It was a successful semester, um and I just wanted to bring attention to out of the 21 uh rostered courses, 12 of them were taught by instructors that taught pro bono, and we are very grateful to those instructors for always keeping our costs down. Um, is there any questions about the case and revenue? Uh, the revenue and expenses
report. Okay. The other thing I'd like to share and I did provide that as well is as always, um, myself as registrar and Linda Kiesel as case coordinator we are constantly working on case. It's almost like a, you know, never it's a never-ending project for us of we actually enjoy it very much and we actually have, even though we haven't quite closed down the spring semester we've already started working on fall and what I've provided is a list of 26 possible courses that we're going to, um, offer in the fall and we've already reached out to all of the instructors and the ones that are highlighted on your sheet in yellow are the ones that have already submitted their, um, descriptions. So, we're already in full, you know, full engaged, um, we're fully engaged in
fall. So, I just wanted to bring that to your attention and give you a list of the, um, potential courses. Most of them we hope will will actually come out and just for anybody that's interested we have confirmed a sourdough bread class, we have talks at non-toxic cleaning products, we have stained glass, we have a Christmas wreath, framed artwork for shells and pebbles, um, you know, there's a there's just a very wide variety of classes that we seek to offer. And in that I'd also like to say I shared this this is something that we actually bring to every craft show that we go to, every class that we take and we're constantly looking for new entrepreneurs or anyone that has a passion or a skill that they would like to share as part of
the case program. So, if anybody here knows anybody in the board member knows someone that has a very passionate skill or interest, please share this with them cuz we're always willing to seek new new offerings for the community and we that is our biggest um goal to make sure that we're constantly offering new and interesting things every semester. Does anybody have any questions about case? Okay. Well, thank you very much. Thank you. And we move on to non-agenda items. I just come bearing information. Uh my name is Carolyn Boone, 337 South Main Road, Wright Township. I wanted to pass along information about two programs that exist in our school district, the elementary backpack food program running in both Fairview and Rice Elementary, and the CEO Weinberg food distribution open to all families in our community.
They've been in existence now for 10 years. In 2016, we learned of a student who had not eaten all weekend because they had no food. Our principal at the time, Peg Foster, created a small volunteer group, garnered funds and food, and within a few weeks created our backpack food program. This is open to any student in our elementary schools. We are currently feeding around 100 students every weekend. The programs are run completely by volunteers and rely on monetary donations from individuals and local organizations and food donations from families and school-wide collections. Every year, our children also receive new winter coats, backpacks, and school supplies from local groups. That first year, we worried about those families and others needing food throughout the summer months. Peg was able to connect with CEO to receive the grant we
work we continue to work under for our food distribution. That program began with about 50 families, and we are currently providing food to over 400 families in our school district twice a month year-round. Peg Foster recently suffered a tragic death, and thank you to Mr. Sare from her family for sending words of remembrance from Crestwood to my husband to read at her service. Because of Peg's commitment to our children, her family wanted donations in Peg's memory to benefit our backpack food programs. To date, we have received $1,435 from parents, friends, schools, and organizations, which is being shared between Fairview and Rice. The State Principals Association is also in touch with us. They're trying to um coordinate some type of collection with all their members statewide at their summer summit this year. If you or anyone
you know would benefit from either program, please reach out to me or contact any of the schools for assistance. They'll have my number. Thank you. Yes, hello. My name is uh Matt Mease. I'm from Freeland, uh PA 18224. I'm a uh now, I guess you could say, former employee of the Crestwood School District. Uh >> [clears throat] >> I started here in February, February 23rd of this year, and uh it's an honor to be back from whence I came. However, I regret to say that on April 30th upon my review, my employment was terminated by both Mr. Blanchard and according to this letter Mr. Sayre. And I was told while I was there that I was within my 60-day bargaining >> Excuse me, I'm sorry. Um I you're not permitted to speak about personnel issues
during this period. >> that. I know that. I'm just I'm getting to something else actually. Oops. Uh Needless to say the reasons why, which I never really received the reason why other than the letter. Um I not only wanted to thank everybody, especially Ms. Chur Ziger Zigaric. And uh Ms. Sotero and all those who did vote for me when when it came time to vote for me. And uh Not only I had some questions about myself, but I I emailed not only Ms. Sotero, but other other people involved with it several times and I received no email back. That was including Mr. Chuba and uh also Mr. Sayre. And I understand there's a lot of more fish going on than a little just me, but uh I just thought it was important. >> Sir, I'm
the solicitor for the district and I appreciate everything you're saying. At this point you've identified yourself as not only not a member of the community, but you're also not currently an employee. So, under the policy, you don't fit the directive to speak at the meeting publicly. You also are continuing to go on about a personnel issue. So, I'm going to ask you to cease at this point. Okay. Thank you. >> I still thank you all for your time and I thank you all and I hope to be back on the team once again. Thank you. Any other non-agenda comments? Seeing none, uh would anyone like to make a motion to adjourn? Second. All in favor? I. Meeting adjourned. Thank you.
