We'll be calling to order the meeting of the Crestwood School Board of Directors special meeting. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Roll call? Mrs. Bibla? Here. Mrs. Chaytor Zagorski? Here. Mr. Gallagher? Here. Mrs. McGovern Kapcho? Here. Mrs. Romanishan? Here. Mr. Naimy? Here. Mr. Savitsky? Present. Mr. Patty? Here. And Mrs. McCurdy? Here. Nine members present. Thank you. Executive Excuse me, executive sessions were held on March 18th, 22nd, 29th, 30th, and 31st, 2026 regarding contracts, personnel actions, and pending litigations. Um we'll start with public testimony on agenda items. Our public guests are reminded that the public testimony is limited to 3 minutes. Any person providing
testimony to the board during a meeting should state their name, spell their last name, and municipality and speaking if speaking for an organization, the name and identity of that organization. Brian Wait, W A I T E, I'm from Fairview Township. Uh question under financial planning, is that a due process settlement agreement? Number two? It is uh not a due process settlement agreement. Okay. Um is is a student agreement? It is not a student agreement. Okay. Thank you. Um again, obviously tonight there's information on the resources uh human resources that's going to I'm assuming going to take action items here tonight. Uh just a background here, obviously we know in this district this is Mr. Sera will be the sixth either acting superintendent or superintendent in this district over 10-year period. Um I don't want to
kick anyone when they're down, but I I do recall coming to a meeting at one point time a former board member here saying that the current person that's looking to resign here in this district in a couple years districts would be knocking the door down to have her. And tonight [clears throat] it looks like Crestwood is opening up the door and letting her go. So, with that being said, my question would be what is the cost to the taxpayer for the for her actual exit plan in here. If I'm reading her contract correctly, it looks like this is a mutual agreement and the district will be on the hook for her total contract including health benefits over the partial of this year and her contract would end and expire at the end of next year,
August 27th. At at direction of um counsel, the board is not going to make any comments with regard to that personnel matter. So, the dis- the district won't know what the cost is to the to the taxpayers uh through this matter at all? It's just that the district is not going to make comments at this public meeting with regard to that personnel matter. I'm I'm just only interested in the the cost to the tax- taxpayers as far as salary and wages and that that encompasses that. Understood. Uh with uh with that said, that I believe there was also an investigation that was being done as far as a harassment claim, which I think the district's already paid approximately $10,000 to an attorney to evaluate that and go through that process. Is the district looking to
still complete that process in doing that? Again, the board's not going to engage in that discussion this evening. We're we're here to listen to your comments, of course, but there'll be no response to that specific question. The only concern I would have is that it I think it as a taxpayer I think you should follow through and get that report. I think it could be beneficial in knowing what if there was something that was done harassment-wise in helping provide professional development for the new person coming in and or if there was not something that was done harassment-wise to say to people, you know, the the the the consideration of what you've done and what has happened here does not lead to a harassment and I think that's the benefit of that report and continuing through
with that report and doing that. Um obviously I see Mr. Sera is going to be acting superintendent. I'm hoping that he also gets an opportunity for a stipend within this as well. Um and if you don't need to comment on that either, but I think obviously he's doing the work of a superintendent and and doing those types of things he probably deserves that as well. Do Do we know what the plan is for the future then? >> [clears throat] >> At this time Yeah, at this time the board is still working on the plan, so there's nothing that we could provide to you tonight, but we have been spending an awful lot of time talking about how we're moving forward. >> hope the experiment of having somebody in the office of superintendent that does not
have any background in education is done. And I think that experiment was proven to be faulty in regards to what actions you're about to take tonight. Um even though that was something that was done by predecessor boards. Um again, I in my opinion I think it's time now to get somebody in the district that can provide continuity, uh consistency, has an educational background, the experience with the education, not somebody who has short blip in time of of having a business manager's degree and doing those types of things and not having any experience in the district in running it. Just my opinion. Thank you for your time. I appreciate it. Thank you. Seeing no other comments, we'll move into the financial committee, Mr. Gallagher. Good evening. Uh I am here obviously as is Mrs. Romanishan and
Dr. Patty. Uh I'm making motion seeking a second to move items one two to the meeting next week. I so move. We're not voting. We're voting. Oh, I apologize. To approve the items. Oh, I apologize. My fault. Okay. So, I would like to make a motion to approve both items one and two. Second. Mrs. Bibla? Yes. Mrs. Chaytor Zagorski? Yes. Mr. Gallagher? Yes. Mrs. McGovern Kapcho? Yes. Mrs. Romanishan? Yes. Mr. Naimy? Yes. Mr. Savitsky? Yes. Mr. Patty? Yes. Mrs. McCurdy? Yes. Motion carried. Human Resources, Mrs. McGovern Kapcho? I make a motion and seek a second to approve items one through three along with making a motion and seeking a second to table number four. Is that right? Second. Mrs. Bibla? Yes, to both. Just give me a second to make a column. Yes. Okay, Mrs.
Davis. Yeah, should we do one at a time? It would be easier for me if I could. For your purpose, let me vote on one to three first. Okay, perfect. Okay. One to three, um Mrs. Bibla? Yes. Mrs. Chaytor Zagorski? Yes. Mr. Gallagher? Yes. Mrs. McGovern Kapcho? Yes. Mrs. Romanishan? Yes. Mr. Naimy? Yes. Mr. Saviski? Yes. Uh I have a question on three. Um was this Was there an interview process Yes. >> for this candidate? Yes. Okay. Uh yes on all three. Mr. Patty? Yes. Mrs. McCurdy? Yes. Motion carried. Okay. Now to table number four. Okay, number four, Mrs. Bibla? Yes. Mrs. Chaitorizegurik? Yes. Mr. Gallagher? Yes. Mrs. McGovern Kapcho? Yes. Mrs. Romanishan? Yes. >> Mr. Naimy? Yes. Mr. Saviski? Yes. Mr. Patty? Yes. Mrs. McCurdy? Yes. Motion carried. Public testimony on non-agenda items. Um
um Mr. Serra has an announcement to make at this time. Uh my first announcement is that our special education plan will be posted tomorrow on the Crestwood website. Uh that will come along with uh your ability to provide input regarding that plan. It will be uh remain public for the 28-day period. It will also be available paper copy in our central administrative office along with the uh library.
