001Mhm. >> Mhm. >> Well, thank you all for coming tonight. Um, I know that we uh canceled the meeting last week. We had a lot of other business to take care of that evening. So, I apologize for anyone who may have shown up for that meeting, but we will move through everything and have plenty of time for questions for anyone tonight. So, thank you for your patience on that. Uh we'll call to order the financial planning meeting, Mr. Gallagher. >> Uh roll call. Uh I'm here. >> Here. >> Pat Patty is running late. Uh Make a motion and seek a section to approve the minutes of the financial planning committee meeting on February 12th, 2026. >> Second. >> Uh Make a motion and seeking a second for the approval of moving the following to the
002voting agenda, items 1 through 4. I so move. >> Second. >> Any questions? >> Open for discussion. >> I do. >> Open for discussion. >> Number four. Uh recommend the consideration and approval of the agreement with Carolyn Boone and the Crestwood School District for reimbursement for CEO distribution expenses. What's that? Somebody tell me. >> Yep. So, uh you're you're aware of the food bank they do out here. So, generally they'll get pizza and so on for the volunteers that show up to do it. So, it's a in the scope of the overall budget of the school. Uh it's not a ton of money and I think considering the community outreach that we're feeding the school, you know, volunteers, I think it's probably a worthwhile uh item. It's been going on for some time. We just
003wanted to get it in writing so that future boards as it evolves through people understand what what it is, right? To get it in writing. >> What's I saw the expenditure. It was like under $300. Is that monthly or weekly or >> No, the when those expense reports come in, they usually cover a couple of months. I don't know exactly what that would be, but yeah. >> But um and thank you, Mrs. Boone, for all of the support that you've given to the program and I know that it's been incredibly valuable to the community and I think that the board all feels that it's important to continue to support the volunteers to to do that. So, thank you for all you do. Would you like to speak? Sure. Thank you. >> Just to clarify and
004add a little more information, it has been going on we're starting our 10th year. Um we peaked at about 550 families twice a month about a year and a half ago. Right now we're serving about 400 from our community twice a month. It It isn't just for food. We do have to purchase bags and other supplies. CEO doesn't provide all the supplies that we need. So, it encompasses several things. >> Thank you. >> help? >> I It's It's an incredible asset to the community. So, thank you for all that you've done. I know it's a lot of work. There's a lot of volunteers that make it work. There's a lot of students who uh support the program, too. So, it's It's really great. Thank you for continuing to do that. I hope you have enough
005energy to keep going for a longer time. Thank you. Any other questions? >> I have a question about the lunch increase. Um what are we running now on the budget? How much, you know, in debt or balance is the budget for the lunches towards the school? >> Are you asking just for food service? >> Well, how much are we providing to cover what the state doesn't give us back in reimbursement? >> Uh in through here right now I don't have a a number for you. Last year we did operate at a bit of a loss, but this year we're doing better. We're getting great better um subsidy because we're serving more lunches. So, I'm hoping this year we end up more of a break-even standpoint. >> And so, the increase would be to >> Yeah,
006the the increase is the 2.7 increases in management fees consistent with the CPI. That's part of the contract. Most of those expenses though really are the salary and benefits for our employees who work in in the cafeteria. This is a, you know, the $1,800 increase in the total cost to the nutrition group is, you know, a fraction of the total cost because like everything else it's labor and and benefits. >> Do you have about a number that you would think that the 10% would 10 10 cents would >> would generate? >> Yeah. >> Um I don't have a number right now, but in this report right here, there's the the total I just saw this. We have on page three um you could see the bottom of page three the the actual number served, so
00710 cents of that. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Yep. >> Any other questions? Adjourn the financial committee. >> Yeah, move They were all in favor. I We have to move them We'll move them to the board. Yeah. Okay. All in favor then? I >> I >> Thank you. Then we'll adjourn the financial committee. Uh transportation committee, Mr. Savitsky, can you take that? >> I call the transportation committee to order. Not with us right now is Dr. Patty. The committee also consists of Ms. Kapcho who's not here and I'm left, Mr. Stevitsky. Um I make a motion to approve the minutes from the transportation committee meeting from February 19th, 2026. I so move. Anyone want to second that? >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I. Uh we have three agenda items to discuss to move
008to voting, uh which is following this uh session. Uh any questions from the board? Public? Okay. Uh I make a motion to move items one through three to the voting agenda. I so move. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I. Uh Uh we'll adjourn the meeting. >> We have uh open discussion. Mr. Malazzo has an update for us. >> I'm sorry. >> Thank you. >> Not my committee. >> But >> That's not my head. >> No problem. Uh thank you. Um so on here we have the bus patrol interior and exter- exterior cameras and it's at no cost to the district. Um I'm not sure if everybody is aware, but in our contract with Reinheimer every uh once the bus um hits the the point of 10 years uh in the contract, then Reinheimer
009is to replenish the district with new buses. So with that um we no longer have the cameras on those new buses. So I asked Mr. Simonovich to find out how much that would cost knowing though that bus patrol program that we have, um they are actually going to be installing interior interior and exterior cameras at no cost to the district as part of our agreement and that's about a $25,000 savings. So um I just wanted to alert the board that that will start to be happening that we're going to have interior and exterior on the buses that were just replenished uh due to age. I did want to bring up to the board to have a conversation um the interior buses do not have audio. And um you know, we should really discuss if that's
010what we want to continue to do is have audio on those buses or not. Um but I just I was asked that before is there audio on them and I just want everybody know it cuz you know, we have new members that there is no audio on those buses. >> Can you explain what that means? >> So that means that you can see the visual but you can't hear anything. So students talking, drivers talking, there's no audio. >> Wouldn't that be important to have audio if there is something we have to review for a concern? >> So um in the past we were um advised not to have audio on them. Um I did check with our sister law firm that if we chose uh to have audio on the buses, we would have to
011communicate that through student handbooks. You'd have to update your board policy. Uh so I just bring that up as something that we maybe through policy we can have that conversation um and then see if we want to implement that into 26-27 school year. >> Can you check with the other superintendents maybe at your superintendents' meeting to see what the consensus is for other districts to see how they handle that? >> Yep. >> Thank you. >> Natasha, there's still no cost whether there's audio or not. >> Correct. Yep. >> Would um that have to be agreed upon mutually with Rheinheimer? >> That is correct since since >> the driver? >> Yep. >> Cuz I believe something in the past that was discussed and it was not agreed. >> It's a multi-step process, but I was asked
012about it and I thought I'd just bring that up so everybody knew that there was no audio. Um and you know, through future conversations if you would like the audio, we just have to go through a couple steps with that. And that's all I have. >> Any Any questions? Move to adjourn. Okay. We'll adjourn the transportation committee. >> Adjourn. >> Second. Thank you. Uh policy committee, Mrs. Romanishan. >> Um I call to order roll call. Um Romanishan, um Mrs. Cheddar, Zagarik, Mrs. Bibla. >> Here. >> Um I seek a motion to approve the minutes from the policy committee meeting on February 12th, 2026. >> Motion. >> Second. >> Thanks. Um there's no The only open discussion we I I think we took the Are we still can have open discussion? I wasn't sure. >> If
013you'd like. >> the only thing I want to talk about just because I know Denise and Anna and I have talked about that we're really going to really and we'd like the public and or the teachers involved in the two major ones that we're going to look at and start looking into um more in detail is the social media policy and the AI policy. So, any we're we're going to discuss maybe we should have teacher committee, community committee, something to include more people to understand where the district wants to go with this and what the public thoughts are and obviously the administration will be heavily involved as well, but um they're two major issues we believe um just because of the legal concerns around everything and AI especially where we're going with that and how
014the teachers want to go with it, how does the admin and then also the community like to have involvement too. So, we'll come up with a plan and then get that out there to see who wants to be involved and and try to get a good policy moving forward for the district. Any questions? Okay, seeing none I close the policy committee. >> Thank you. Can I close? I don't need that. >> Human Resources Committee, Mrs. Bibla. >> Uh Miss Romanishan and I are present. Miss Kapcho is not. Uh I'll be seeking a motion to approve the minutes from our meeting on February 12th, 2026. I so move. Motion. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? Seeing none. >> Miss Bibla, we just need to change number eight to part-time, not full-time.
015>> Is that correct on the voting agenda? >> No. >> Okay. >> Mhm. So, we'll change also on the other one. >> Okay. I make a motion to change number eight on [clears throat] our committee from full-time to part-time. So, it should read, "Recommend consideration and approval of Teresa Popowicz as a part-time paraprofessional at Fairview to retire at the end of the 2025-2026 school year. Thank you for your 20 years of service to the district." >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? None. I would like to make a motion of Any questions on items 1 through 8 from the board? From the public? Seeing none, I would like to make a motion for items 1 through 8 to move to the voting agenda. I so move. >> Second. >> All in
016favor? >> I. Any opposed? None. Open discussion for human resource. Anything from the board? Anything from the public? Seeing none, adjourned. >> Thank you. Academic Committee, Mr. Savitsky. >> Uh I call the Academic Committee to order. The Academic Committee consists of uh Mrs. Chaitor, Sagarik, and Mr. Naimy, and myself. We're all present today. I make a motion to approve the minutes from the Academic Committee from February 19th, 2026. I so move. >> Second. >> Thank you. Uh we have four agenda items uh for the voting for this meeting. Uh any questions from the board? How about the public? Any questions? Okay. Seeing none. Uh I make the motion to move items one through four to the voting agenda. I so move. Someone second that? >> Second. All in favor? >> I. I. >> Uh Any
017open discussions for this? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Um So, I want to start off with the 2026-27 academic school calendar. Um I worked with the the teachers union. We got together um and had them, you know, look at the calendar and see if it works um from their perspective and then worked with administration. So, right now, should the board approve um because this is actually on the voting agenda tonight. So, if the board would approve, the in-service days would start on Wednesday, August 26th and the first day of school would be August 31st. Um and with that um we have that the graduation be right on here for family to start planning um and that would be on June 5th at the Mohegan. We would get the contract like we do always like in
018the future, but at least we can um you know, save the date at the Mohegan. And um the last day of school then would be on June 8th. So, I just wanted to highlight that for everyone that that's going to be on the voting meeting. And then also on here um I just want to highlight some excellent work um from our students here at the secondary campus. So, there was a uh math competition. It's called LCCTM and that's for those that do not know, that's the Luzerne County Council of Teachers Mathematics. On March 5th at Wilkes University. uh Sean Ross I was first place and you know, he was actually serve first place last year as a junior. So as a junior, he was able to get a full ride of tuition at Wilkes University.
019So when he won the competition again this year, he can't win the tuition again, but he received a cash prize. So I just wanted to highlight him and his excellent work and then also our seniors had the team award. So just excellent all around and I really just want to thank the entire staff whether you're from kindergarten all the way up to you know secondary math teacher AP you know math teacher it takes really everyone to build that mathematical skills and I just want to thank the families, the students and our staff for creating that opportunity. And then also on here I believe some of our principals started to send out the information regarding our state mandated testing. So we have PSSA dates here on the agenda for ELA which is grades 3 through 6.
020It will start on April 21st, 22nd and 23rd. Math PSSAs for grades 3 through 6 is April 28th and 29th. And then science will be for grade 4 will be April 30th and May 1st. And then we also have the Keystone dates there. Algebra and lit will be May 12th and May 13th and there are available times and for makeups which is Thursday, Friday Monday. And biology will be on Tuesday May 19th and May 20th. Same that there will be opportunities for makeups. We also have the AP exam schedule which will be from May 4th through the 15th. And then my favorite part which is kindergarten registration. So our families will have the opportunity to start enrolling their kindergarteners. Fairview is April 7th and April 8th and Rice Elementary is April 9th and 10th and
021I have the times there. Uh 9:00 to 12:00 and then 1:00 to 3:00. And that's it. >> Na- Natasha, can I make a uh um Laura, make a comment about Sean Rossy's performance? >> Of course. >> test. Um I happen to be friendly with some of the teachers and administrators at Wilkes who administer that exam. And the way they it's an unbelievably hard exam, and it's split into two sections. The first section is 20 questions. Sean got 19 out of 20 right. Getting a 12 is extremely good. 14 is close to off the charts. They didn't believe they had the score right. They went back and checked it, and sure enough, and even the guy um who's a Steve Kempinski, who's a graduate here, he said he didn't think he could compete with Sean on
022the test. He's that good. It's amazing. >> Oh, that. Yeah. Do we have any idea what he's going to be doing for a career? >> I don't, but I know that he was reluctant to take the test cuz he thought he might take the the scholarship from someone else. >> It's great. Thank you. >> Any more questions for academic? >> Hello. Uh Stephanie Weber, Wright Township. Um So, I just have a few follow-up questions regarding the focus group that we were talking about last time, and I know I sent this to Natasha and Annie Moran, but I wanted to get some board member opinions and views as well. Um just to see if any of you were involved in any of this. Um particularly the academic committee. Um many of us received an email about
023the quarterly meeting that is scheduled next week. Um, was anybody aware on the board that there is a special education quarterly meeting scheduled for next Thursday? >> Yeah, yes. We actually we had a um, a special ed meeting last evening to go over a lot of issues and this came up at the meeting and then I was provided with the agenda and invited to the meeting as well. >> Excellent. Okay, perfect. Um, so one thing I wanted to get some additional feedback on was um, how many of the board members were actually involved in the survey or had input in the survey that went out to supposedly all of the parents in the special education department? One? >> In creating the survey? >> Yes, or any type of input. Sure. Okay. Okay. Um, and just
024as a follow-up, not all parents received the survey. I did want to make that public. Um, and then I we got some feedback on what is being done with the results. My understanding is that may be used in terms of graphs and those types of things, but in terms of the school board, what is your knowledge of what is being done with the survey results? >> Well, as it we did discuss it last night. We had a lot to discuss. We were here for several hours to go over a lot of issues which I'm very happy to report. And hopefully things are we're going to see a lot of turn around, I believe, from our administration working to collectively with the board. We're very excited and and the community. We're very excited about some of
025the plans that we've discussed, at least. So, we only touched upon the survey, but um, I thought it was nice to see some of the I was shared the results of the survey, so I was happy to see it. I know some issues came up and maybe Miss Malazo can discuss like how the emails and things happened cuz I didn't understand they were discussing that yesterday, but we only touched upon it because there were so many other issues that we're working on that are we believe are equally as important that we're like very concerned about. >> lot. Yes. >> Right. And I feel like we had a great great meeting last night to start with a lot of the issues that I think the public is concerned about and the board is concerned about and
026the administration is concerned about to work together on. So, we didn't get too much detail about the survey, but so maybe you can just discuss a little bit. Thanks. >> Yes. So, I did update the board. I tried to do it like every other day, but sometimes we didn't get responses, so it was kind of redundant, so I didn't So, it was open for 12 days. All the emails were sent through the case manager. So, we asked the the teachers involved with the students and those families to push out that that survey. So, that's, you know, we kind of went back a little bit with the email that unfortunately, I'm sorry, maybe some that didn't get it, but through the case manager, that's how the families were to get the survey. And our plan is
027so next month at April's meeting is where we're going to be sharing our special education plan. That will be have you know, the opportunity for the community to review not only just that night, but then they'll have a 28-day inspection as well. Where if you have the the means to see it online, you're more than welcome. It'll be placed on there or we will have a physical hard copy that you know, we could print out and keep it there on on file for anyone that would like to pick it up or at least, you know, stop by the school and look at it. And then also part of that committee agenda, my plan, I would assume the academic the committee would have approved of it. We plan on sharing the survey results, just how the
028board had received them. And then our key takeaways with that and just um for solutions based upon the survey. >> Okay. So, if you're sharing that in April, which of course the meeting's probably mid-April, if that's 28 days, I was told that that plan is due May 1st. So, that's not 28 That's not enough time. >> Yeah, we'll we'll >> So, how's that going to work? >> Yeah, we'll talk to the state for you know, an extension of the timeline for that. Um that way we we want to make sure that we meet the the guidelines and we can't push um and place that on to the PDE portal without a board approval cuz that is one of the the parts of the area that they asked for. >> I guess the question would be
029is if we don't get the extension. >> We haven't had a problem in the past with other things. >> Okay. Um and then the other thing then is in terms of this quote focus group, um my understanding from talking with parents is not everyone who checked that box was then sent an email invited to the focus group. So, why is that? >> Oh, I don't know. Um you know, I did see the email. What we did was we exported um part of that survey was to give your name and your email address so we can take that information and send that email. Um so, um if you want to maybe share later who the the families were, we'll take their names down so I can look at that. Um and but no, absolutely if they
030said yes and they checked that box, everybody should have received an email. So, we'll definitely look into that. >> Okay. Um I think that we're all of those concerns there. And then what is your ultimate goal for that meeting next week? Just so the public is aware, we're all aware for people who are unfortunately not here today. >> Yeah, so um the goal >> There's a lot on that agenda, some of which feels also more like I'll be honest, like a training meeting for some teachers rather than for us. >> Yeah, so um it's so hard to to share like the thought process of an agenda when you just send it out and there's no communication like verbally or just talking about it. Um but our goal is to start fresh, right? One of the
031first things that we want to do is interview the team, right? And start with the the director, um start with our school psychologist, our social worker, meet the team. I think that that's important. I'm not sure everybody knows who the team is. So we're kind of going back from starting from fresh. Um and then we just wanted to share some of our programming that we do have, which then will hopefully um have a collaboration piece where we can hear what programming that, you know, that you would like to bring to the district as feedback. Um and then also it's to share what we have done. We want to share what professional development we have given. You probably saw that on there. And what ideas uh that we are planning for the future for our in-service
032days and upcoming trainings. So those are just a few of the highlights of that. Um and then of course at the end, you know, give the opportunity to the families and that that come um we'll probably do like another survey feedback survey and say, "Okay, what did you think about it? What can we improve?" And the date and time that we placed for the next one is just like a starter point where if if the 6:00 didn't work and maybe the whole group would rather it be at 7:00 or 5:30. Again, that's just what we have there. It's just going to be more open. We just want to kind of fit it in there. >> is definite I'll be honest, quarterly's not enough. Um I think at least monthly, at least. Um because otherwise it's
033it's just too long to see change and results. Um the other thing is you keep referring to special education director. However, everything we received is signed as supervisor. >> I'm sorry, I do make that mistake. >> is the difference? >> I'm sorry, I do make that mistake all time. Um so we used to have a director of special education. That was the title. Um she is this supervisor of special education. Um she does really the work of a director. >> But why the change? >> Uh so when we posted the position was it last last year? Um we we weren't sure um who the applicants were. It's such a hard time finding an administrator in special education. So um what we did then was we posted as a supervisor. So they're still able to do
034everything um but they may not have a special education certification. They have the administrative uh like a principal certification. And then but based upon their experience where they are in their their um their districts where they came from, they special education teacher. So there's a whole experience part of it as well. >> Okay, so that's what I have a question on is if our current supervisor has no special education certification, that's what you're telling us. >> No, she was a teacher, special education teacher. >> But is there a special education certification? >> So I feel >> Yes, it's a yes or no question. >> uh respectfully >> Yeah. >> we're talking about an individual and I think that that's not appropriate for us to talk about someone's certification. >> I don't think it's appropriate to
035talk about everybody's certification here. And if the board would like to chime in on that, I I just don't think it would be >> think it is because it's coming back to the root of some of these problems with this department in that if we don't have someone who is actually certified to do this job, why are we hiring these people? It's a common problem here at Crestwood. Why do we hire someone who is not certified to do the job? >> Everything that she is doing >> you look, it's public knowledge, Natasha. If you look online, where is her special education history? It there's none. There is none. >> So I will say that the district hired the right employee with what we had posted. And that is she is certified to do exactly what
036she is doing in what we had posted for her to do. >> there are many that will disagree. Any come feedback from the board? >> Um, can I ask if did she does she have the ability to go get her special ed certificate? I mean, can we look into something like that to help her with that process to maybe help the public feel better about it. I know she's doing she understands it and she's getting and she works closely with the board and also the IU and other programs for special ed. So, I know she's getting the appropriate information to make informed decisions from my understanding from at least the meeting last night. However, I I I could see the parents concern for not having a special >> very clear with what is happening with
037some of our children that >> that we can explore looking into her getting her special ed certificate. Is that something she would be open to maybe? >> Oh, I I think uh I wish she was She's not here, right? Oh, is she here? She's here. Oh, I didn't even see you. I'm so sorry back there. Oh. I didn't know that you're here. I'm so sorry. Um, so I don't want to speak for her and you know, it's she has multiple certifications that I honestly I don't know every certification. Like I I honestly don't know Mr. Gorman all his certifications and Mr. Sayer and all his certifications. So, I may be maybe missing some of her certifications to be honest with you. Um, but it wouldn't be proper for me to say would she be interested
038in that if if Ms. Moran wanted to answer that question, that would be up to her. But, I think we're just going down a path of too much personnel at this time. Um, but I can say that the work that she's doing, the position that we posted for, she is allowed to be doing what she's doing. As far as the certification goes. >> We'll agree to disagree at this point. >> No other questions. We'll adjourn the uh academic committee at this time. >> Co-curricular, Mr. Naimy. >> Thank you. Uh roll call with us this evening is Mr. Stevick and Ms. Bibla as part of our co-curricular committee. Uh we're seeking a motion and second for the approval of the minutes from the meeting on February 12th, 2026. >> Motion. >> Thank you. Second? >> Second.
039>> On items 1 through Excuse me, 1 A through U and item number 2 uh we have or I'd like to leave the floor open for discussion from the board. Any questions regarding those items that are poised to move forward. No questions? >> No. >> All right, thank you. Uh at that time then I'd like to make a motion and ask for a second to move the items number 1 A through U as well as item number 2 to the voting meeting. >> Second. >> Thank you. >> All right. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Meeting adjourned. >> Are there any open Are there any other additional open discussion questions from the public? Okay. All right. Thank you. We'll adjourn. Physical Plan, Mrs. Dormanician. >> Um calling to order and a roll call myself
040and Mr. um Gallagher present. Mr. Patty is not present. Um I seek a motion to and a second to approve the minutes from the Physical Plant Committee meeting on February 12th, 2026. Motion? >> Second. >> Um But that's so moved. Um and then I approve that I seek a motion to approve the move the following Oh, there's nothing to move. So, we have open discussion then? >> I know I put your name down there, but if you want me to talk about it. >> I I Yeah, I think we should. Yeah. Yeah, just the topic. Yeah. >> So, first I do want to update the board. The facility supervisor position, it closes on Monday. Um the last update I gave to the board, which was a week ago today, we did get an increase. So,
041I just want to update the board now. Uh we have a total of 39 applicants. Uh 30 of them came from Indeed, and then uh nine of them came through like an internal email. So, I just want to give you um you know, information on that. And then uh the generator project over at Fairview, um when we met with our engineer and then the the vendor or the installer, they provided an explanation of like a one-year data plan for like remote service that you can remotely, you know, troubleshoot for the generator. And I just wanted to bring that to everybody's attention. It would be an annual cost. It is $410. It's um you know, not a a lot of money when we talk about the entirety of the budget. Um and then they also wanted
042to be um the ones to do like the annual maintenance to it. We have a different vendor that we use for that right now that have the experience in our other generators. So, um I would be recommending the board to stay with the current uh contractor for our maintenance. And I spoke to Mr. Chipka about that as well, and he agrees that we should um keep that company on staff to do all of our maintenance and include that with Fairview. >> I I would like to explore a little bit more because I know there's other local I mean, I was surprised at that number overall when I went through the packet of how much we paid for a Fairview generator. I was like quite overwhelmed because we do a lot of generators in our homes.
043Um Um, and the size and capacity of some of my homes almost are similar to unfortunately to say to to the elementary school, but they're the capacity is high and I spoke to some of my electric electricians that I work with that do actually commercial work as well and they were surprised to see that number as well. >> [snorts] >> So, I may want to talk about exploring some of our local contractors because I don't think that gentleman is from this area, the the one that would service it. >> Yeah, so he this the $410 includes the cellular kit. So, that would be like an upfront cost to it and then it was um, $100 would be paid to that company which is not local to answer your question. Um, and then they do charge
044a $85. So, that's where the $410 is coming from. But, um, yeah, absolutely. I just kind of wanted to bring that up that when we kind of had our closeout meeting a little bit ago, I just want to bring that to the attention and you know, just see what the board wanted to do if we wanted to stay with our contractor. >> [snorts] >> Um, you know, speaking with Mr. Chipko, he thought maybe that would be the best way, but if you want us to break away from >> this gentleman who has a local company didn't even know about the RFP. And again, it's hard to know that if you're not watching for it. So, if the more we can have local people involved working on our, you know, that are paying taxes to this
045district, I would prefer to have them. So, I just maybe I'd like to explore that a little bit more. >> Okay. I'll ask Mr. Chipko when we chat. >> that. Yeah, thank you. >> Yeah, I agree with you. I mean, just for transparency's sake, let's let's float it out there. And And the the monitoring you're referring to is something that we use quite a bit, telematics, like it's just basically anything fault code that appears in that generator, low on fuel, that pump that would be transmitted to someone. Very similar if you look at the dash of your car or whatever it tells you, it'll be transmitted remotely. So, if there's an issue, they'll know about it, likely before we would know about it, especially in the middle of the night. So, it's a fairly worthwhile
046uh cost when you consider if we're already running on generator, we're already in trouble, right? >> Okay, I will do that. >> And then the Rice pump, did you want to update just on what's happening there? >> Yes, so um on Wednesday at 3:30 um at Rice Elementary they're going to be installing uh the new drive in the pump um for the local, you know, through AMP is the the vendor. They're the ones that came when we had that emergency. Uh so once we have an update for the board, I'll let you know how that goes um but they are coming on Wednesday to do that. >> Did they give us a cost or like an estimate at all what we think? No? Okay, that's fine. And then and the last question I would have
047for open discussion is I I saw [snorts] that there was a I believe it was advertised with these coolers. I don't know because I didn't I wasn't notified as from the plant physical plant committee what's happening with refrigeration or coolers and I wasn't sure what was happening there. So and I got someone shared that with me from the like paper and it was like, oh, how are we in violation? I don't know this. So if you could update us on what's happening with violations or something with coolers. >> Yes, so um Katie is here. I if yeah, if you don't mind, Katie, cuz she has the most direct knowledge with it. >> Appreciate it just cuz I think we need to make sure everyone in the public knows we're okay and there's no problems and
048cuz when you see in the paper we're in violation. So that's what they reached out to me about and I I was not aware of it so I couldn't answer the question today. >> Hi everybody, Katie Golinsky, regional manager with the nutrition group. We are not in any current violation. We have a regular health inspection. We were out of violation for um the cooler at Fairview was temporarily broken um and administration was working on getting that fixed. Um we were not storing any foods in there. We were not out of violation um of any temperatures or anything like that. We had made some adjustments. Uh I to be honest with you, I uh emailed my disapproval of the out of violation to the health inspector. Um, we spoke with her on the phone and in
049person that day to say that it was a temporary, uh, the the cooler was temporarily down. We weren't storing anything and I didn't feel that we deserved any sort of violation because there was not a temperature out of place. We were not using the cooler to cool foods. We're not using any other devices to cool foods. We were completely in, um, in in, uh, compliance for that. So, the cooler has been repaired. Also, uh, on the inspection report it did say that the cooler needed to be, um, fixed within 7 days. So, uh, that number was never rece- given to myself, the administrator at any administrator at Fairview or employees at Fairview, or to our director who spoke in person with that person, uh, with that inspector. So, I did, uh, call the I sent
050an email and then I also called the health inspector to say, "Where did this come from and why were we not told when we signed the paper when we signed the inspection report?" And she said that she she was apologized for that but had to find out from her supervisor, which I said, "No problem, but we really should have been aware and I would have immediately got that." But again, I do just wanted to share there was nothing, um, out of temperature and we were not using, we were making it work, you know, for while the cooler was temporarily down. Uh, the biggest thing is is, uh, milk coolers or stand-up coolers that you maybe would see in a grocery store that would hold drinks. Um, they cannot be used to cool foods to a
051certain temperature. So, like you can't put a pan of chili in there and make and think that it's going to come down. Of course, we would not be doing that. We also had further measures in place where we would, uh, send some food to the high school, um, and store it here if it needed more storage and and it down. Of course, it's not something we wanted to happen for the cooler to go down, but uh you know, waiting for that to get repaired, we made sure that everything was in temperature. Mhm. >> And I just want to say, too, I walked the inspector to the secondary campus. I was physically with the inspector. She didn't say anything to me. So, we were completely blind. I just want to echo what you're saying is I
052actually walked with They didn't say anything to me cuz they They The only thing I lied. They told me they just left Fairview. >> Yeah. >> But they never told me anything about a potential of anything. So, it it would really was just we were completely taken back, and I appreciate you jumping right on it, our maintenance staff jumping, Mr. Blanchard was involved uh to get the cooler right in place, and um you know, I I'm sorry that that was in the paper, but to us, we were in compliance, right? Um >> Yes. And all of our temperatures, every temperature that was taken on site was all in compliance, and we were using all of our coolers appropriately for what they are. Um and and of course, if there was uh myself, our director, we're
053ServSafe certified. We don't take those kind of chances. You know, like of course, for anyone, but especially for children, we would never, you know, make a decision there. Even if a cooler went down and and that temp the food was still temp at a an appropriate amount, 41° or under, we still, you know, would be like, let's be on the safe side, and and throw something if we weren't sure. >> Mhm. >> Thank you for the update. I just want the public to hear that because I I was shocked myself that that went in there, and I'm I'm assuming you have even paperwork that says you they signed off appropriately and then went and changed it, which is disappointing. >> Yes. And and I and yep, and I put that in an email as well
054and and had included administration. Be- Just to express my disapproval on that. >> Yeah. Another comment on it. That same clipping that that you saw where the the findings were listed, at the very end, it lists clients colon in saying we're in com- So, it notated the issue, but then did confirm we were still in compliance. But, people generally read headlines, not the details. So, I understand the confusion confusion. >> And just to be clear, this was a repair, not a replacement. Is that correct? Or with the the refrigerator, was it a repair or did we replace the unit? >> I believe that we replaced the I believe we replaced the I'm going to call it the guts of the unit, cuz that's what was in. I think that when the price came with John
055from maintenance, we looked at it and I think it made more sense at the time based on what the decision was made to replace it instead of repair it, so that way it would still go down. >> Okay. Do we know if there's any guarantee or timeline on that? Anybody? >> Yeah, warranty or something. >> I can get you the warranty. I do not have that. >> Good. All right, thanks. >> Thank you, Katie. >> Yep, no problem. Thank you. >> Any other questions or discussions for the physical plant committee? Okay, so I enclose the committee. Adjourn. >> Technology, Mrs. Chaytors Zegarra. >> Uh myself and Mr. Gallagher are present. Um I make a motion and seek a second to approve the minutes of the technology committee meeting on February 12th. >> Second. >> All
056in favor? I. >> I. >> Uh we have no items to move to the voting agenda, but we do have an open discussion with Mr. Blanchard. >> Good evening, everyone. I'm Mr. Blanchard, director of technology. So, you would have received a contract from a vendor Integra One regarding an E-rate proposal bid that I had put out on March 6th. So, that process is going through the E-rate funding proto- program, which um is a program that uh the federal government offers us to get a reimbursement on certain technologies. Specifically, a infrastructurally this round is for wireless access points and switches. So, it's what handles all the wireless internet throughout all our buildings. They're going on 10 years old and they're due. Um our recent funds had come through for this year and we have a 60%
057reimbursement from federal funding if we go this route. So, I put out some bids on March 6th. Um we had, I believe it was three bids on the wireless and two bids on the switches. You do have to break them up because they have to be broken up by technology category. So, it has to give all the vendors an opportunity who sell these products. So, there were two individual bids sent out. Um one company had come in on the cheapest price and the um best score on both sides and that's what I presented you. So, the next process now in order to get the funding is we would need to get a signature on that quote so that I can pass that through to the next process which is due April 1st. That process is
058to send that out to see if we get the actual funding. Now, we are scored for to get a certain amount of funding, we should get it, but we still have to go through these processes. Um you'll also notice on that quote there are some outs for us. This doesn't bind us to the actual amount of money. Um what it's saying is that we understand the totality and the cost. We went through the bid process. We're asking to get these funds back in totality of 60% and um we have the options from that point to then once we see the funding letter to decide if we want to go through with it cuz we do need the funding letter to process it. We're following what's called an SPI procedure which will allow us to only
059pay the 40% of the total cost. So, once we get the funding letter, we would then approve the 40% remaining balance. We'd attach that to the vendor and then they would seek the reimbursement from the federal funds and the 40% from us and they would order the product so that we can be on pace to do this for a summer project. If for some reason we get to that board meeting by the time we see a funding letter, which is usually 6 to 8 weeks. So, I predict if this is out before April 1st, we would see the funding letter hopefully before the May meeting. And we can't approve the money at that time or we need more time, we can extend it. We also have the options to completely redact from doing it. We
060can say that we don't have the funding. It has to be approved. Um this particular vendor has given us a 12-month guarantee on the price. So, if we needed more time, the price can't change from the original bid. And as far as the funds, we do have a 12-month period to use those funds. If we're not going to do in that time, we'd have to send them back and rebid in the following year. So, that's basically what you're approving today. The everything in the quote um was constructed to give us these numerous outs so that we can continue the process to see if we get funding. Does it make sense? >> When you say the quote, that is what E-Rate did on our behalf. Like we don't I I don't think the board actually has
061the quote, but that's on the E-Rate side. And they took care of all that. All their legal took care of all that quote. >> Yeah, what I gave you was the final contract from the vendor. >> I don't think None of us have the We're all looking >> You're saying all this and I'm >> I'm looking at >> the amounts are in the voting session. >> The committee has it? >> Yeah, the commit the amounts >> are on the >> that we're looking at are on the voting session. >> So, do we need to see the the actual contract? >> eight. >> Like I know, but should we be looking at the contract before we approve anything? >> Do you have it, Ms. Otero? >> Yeah. >> So, just again to underscore one of them.
062>> Yep. >> To underscore >> It would have been part of what I gave you guys, but I'll resend it to you if you want it. >> Yeah. To To underscore what Damian said though, what we're doing at this point doesn't bind the district or the board to purchasing anything. It's just to move forward with that process. The board will have to vote it again back to the actual purchase in May or potentially June. >> Yes. this >> just to start the process. We That's fine. Okay. That's fine. >> when Yeah, when we get to that session, that's when you'll vote for the actual cost. >> us to anything right now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> No, it's not committing us to anything yet. >> E-rate is sort of like a pre-approved >> So, yeah, the
063USAC, which is a federal um firm that built out a rating system to allow us to buy certain technology at a discount. So, the E-rate process is this discount. So, we're allotted every 5 years we're given an amount of funds that we can use over a 5-year period with a discounted rate based on our free and reduced. Okay. So, this year in this next 5 years we have roughly $540,000 to spend over 5 years at a 60% reduction. Um the PEPPM process, which is a state process, they vet out vendors in specific categories. So, they do a lot of the work for us. So, rather than your typical RFP where you're kind of sending it out to the abyss and hoping something will come back that sticks, they vet out all the vendors and break
064them down into um categories of equipment they sell that land on the allowable things that you can buy. Specifically this category two funding which exists of which consist of wireless access points and switches. So, all the vendors there are all pre-vetted by the state. So, that saves us a lot of work of having to figure out who, you know, is going to follow both the pricing structure and the quality of product. So, that we use um we do use a company called ECTS, which we've used for years. That company is our basically E-rate um connoisseurs for lack of better term. They watch over, they handle all the E-rate for us, the filings to make sure the deadlines are met, that they that contracts have the right verbage in it structurally both on a you know,
065um legal level. So, they they oversee everything. So, everything that we draw up, um they also get all the forms that come down from the USAC and they put them for us so that's kind of it's almost paint by numbers when it comes to certain this stuff when you go through that route. So, that protects us. >> So, the district is will be responsible for 40% of whatever >> Once you Yeah, once you swing the gavel on the actual approval, you're responsible for 40% of the total. And that will have to come we'll have to write that check at the moment that we choose to go with it or they won't order the product. So, we can delay whatever we need, but they won't order anything for us to do the project until we actually
066approve that check for that 40%. Okay? >> Can you talk about the necessity of these items? >> Yeah, so we have this particular item is um >> [snorts] >> We've kind of carried it usually your wireless access points and switches throughout a district that handle all the wireless and internet that we use for our Chromebooks, our laptops, and every other device in here. Usually is good for about 7 years, um 10 years at the max, and we're coming on the 10th year. So, it's it's definitely necessity not only from a um from staying at compatible level for our devices, but from a security level. So, as these devices get older, um they get more vulnerabilities. So, we want to keep ourselves protected from a cybersecurity perspective, um and then of course to improve the quality
067of life when using devices in the district. So, yes, highly necessary. Any other questions? Okay. >> Thank you. Any other questions for technology from the board? From the public? >> The other open discussion items? Oh, I maybe I'm an old one. Never mind. >> That's okay. I'll adjourn technology. Thank you. Behavioral Intervention Health and Safety Committee, Mrs. Bibla. >> Myself and Mr. Naimi are present. I'll be seeking a motion for the minutes of the February 12th, 2026. >> Second. >> All in favor? I. >> I. >> Any opposed? Seeing none. We do not have an agenda item for our voting meeting, but we do have an open discussion. >> Thank you. Um so, I just wanted to inform the board and the community, and it actually is then on the agenda cuz this is a
068very large donation that is coming to the district, and I think that the board should be approving this large donation. I'm going to share what that is and where it's coming from. Uh so, we had a meeting with the foundation with Mr. Miracle, and then he was sharing all of his uh other initiatives that he has going on, and he had reached out to to me, and uh I would like the board to consider uh the generous donation from his initiative. It's called uh Miracle Surplus Giving. Um so, he and his initiative, he will be providing the district with 200 sweatshirts, 150 poncho sweatshirts, 120 jackets, 50 ladies jackets, 14 puffer vests, 150 sweatpants, 100 athletic leggings, 150 uh athletic shorts, um 250 t-shirts, 50 crop tops, some undergarments for two 200 of those, and
0691,000 socks, and 100 shoes. So, this is an amazing uh donation from him. Um there will be criteria for those before him to uh allow us to accept it. So, I do want to share what the criteria is for that. Um we will be working with Mrs. Boone. She doesn't know that yet, but hi Mrs. Boone. Uh so, we'll be working with uh our CEO, and we're going to be getting even more volunteers to help um you know, have this part of the the backpack program. The CEO, um there is uh the has to go through free and reduced families, um and we're just very excited about it, and uh there's more to come from Mr. Miracle, and this is just one of them. So, this will be placed on for the voting. Uh should
070you all accept it, he is ready to start delivering it. My goal is to be working with our elementary schools. We do a lot with our secondary campus. I'm trying to get into having our elementary, our sixth grade, our fifth grade, our leaders there and just let them be a part of our community and be a part of this process. So that is the group of students that I will be looking for to have them come be a part of it. >> Is is this the the donation that he that you already announced? Is this this is something separate? Okay. >> Yeah, the other donation I announced that was that went directly to the foundation. That was $100,000. So this is an additional and this is coming right to the school. >> Any other questions?
071Seeing none, adjourn. Thank you. That will conclude our committee meetings. And we will begin the regular meeting. You want to take 5 minutes? Yeah, we'll take a 5 minute recess. Okay. >> Mhm. >> Call to order of the Crestwood School Board regular meeting for Thursday, March 19th, 2026. Please rise for the Pledge of Allegiance. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Roll call, Mrs. O'Hara. >> Mrs. Bibla >> Here. >> Mrs. Chaitow-Grguric >> Here. >> Mr. Gallagher >> Here. >> Mrs. McGovern-Kopcho Mrs. Romanishan >> Here. >> Mr. Naimy >> Here. >> Mr. Savitsky >> Present. >> Mr. Patty >> Here. >> And Mrs. McCarty >> Here. >> Eight members
072present. >> Thank you. Executive sessions were held on March 1st, 8th, 12th, 2026 regarding contracts, personnel actions, and pending litigations. Approval of the minutes for the regular board meeting held on February 19th, 2026. >> I make a motion. >> Thank you. >> I move >> Thank you. >> Mrs. Bibla >> Yes. >> Mrs. Chaitow-Grguric >> Yes. >> Mr. Gallagher >> Yes. >> Mrs. Sorry, Mrs. Romanishan >> Yes. >> Mr. Naimy >> Yes. >> Mr. Savitsky >> Yes. >> Mr. Patty >> Yes. >> Mrs. McCarty >> Yes. >> Motion carried. >> Thank you. Need approval of the treasurer's report for February 2026. Can I get a motion? >> I make a motion. >> I move. >> I'll second. Thank you. >> Mrs. Bebla? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Chaitra Zagorak? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Romanishan? >> Yes.
073>> Mr. Naimy? >> Yes. >> Mr. Savitsky? >> Yes. >> Mr. Patty? >> Yes. >> And Mrs. McCurdy? >> Yes. >> Motion carried. >> Thank you. As we move into reports and presentations, we're going to start with our student rep, Gabriella White. >> Hello. My name is Gabriella White. I'm a junior here at Crestwood, and I'm excited to share the amazing accomplishments our students, athletes, and clubs have been achieving. I I would like to start by honoring our girls basketball team. This season, they defended their district title, making history as two-time district champions, and advancing all the way to state semi-finals for states, ranking them in the top four teams in the state. They had a great season, including a tough, close game against Archbishop Wood, which ended 45 to 41. The boys basketball team
074also had an impressive season, earning them a second place district title. Boys volleyball had standout players recognized in the high school All-American watch list, including Luke Joseph and Jeffrey Stack. In wrestling, both boys and girls showed incredible dedication. District champions include Rachel Shoemaker, who won her second title, and Micah Engelman. Our boys regional qualifiers were Micah Engelman and Maryse Bebla. The girls regional qualifiers were Emerson Seltzer, Rachel Shoemaker, Emma Self, and Samara Bailey. I'm proud to report that our girls wrestling team had two state qualifiers, Rachel Shoemaker and Samara Bailey. Not only have our sports been excelling, but so have our clubs. Our Science Olympia team recently attended the regional competition at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, earning several top placements. Our Our students participated in the 65th annual regional meeting where 37 out of 42 students
075received first place awards making them eligible to attend the state meeting in Penn State. Crestwood also earned the large school award for the highest percentage of first place awards with 88% A special congratulation congratulations to Jessica Langen who received the senior high excellence award in Earth and Space Science and Kieran Coons who received that senior high excellence award in microbiology. The FBLA team continues to actively engage in leadership opportunities and competitions showing tremendous dedication. They have their state competition in April. Our theater program is rigorously preparing their spring production of the Addams Family. We can't wait to see what the talent what talent from the casting crew. I would like to highlight an amazing scholar Sean Rossi who recently received the highest score in the senior division of the Luzerne County Council of Teachers of
076Mathematics competition at Wilkes University. Congratulations to all the students who participated and represented Crestwood with excellence. Whether it's in sports, clubs, or academics, Crestwood students continue to push beyond their limits and make our school proud. We are surrounded by many amazing classmates, teachers, and staff who support one another and lift each other up every single day. Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day. >> Thank you very much. So before Gabriella goes, uh this is her final board meeting with all of us as our student rep. And um I just want to highlight something absolutely amazing about Miss Gabriella. So she's probably going to get upset that I'm saying this. Um but she is a junior but she is graduating this year. So it really is her last time here. Uh so congratulations
077to you. Do you want to share where you're going to school? >> Um I'm going to the Florida Institute of Technology. >> So, congratulations to you. >> Thank you. We will be moving on to our Fairview and Rice soaring comets. >> Yes, thank you. So, we uh have some soaring comets with us here today. So, when I announce your name, if you want to stand right there, if you want to come forward, completely up to you. I'm going to start with Fairview Elementary. Uh Charlie Smith. >> [applause] >> So, those for you that are not aware, um we have our faculty and staff um nominate our students and they write a little piece about them. So, I'm going to share what the faculty and staff wrote about Charlie. So, Charlie's favorite subjects are math and
078Crestwood creators. She enjoys learning new concepts, being creative, and challenging herself in the classroom. Outside of school, Charlie loves to dance, which keeps her active and allows her to express herself. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, making special memories with the people she cares about the most. Charlie says the best thing about Fairview Elementary is the kind and the supportive staff and faculty who help make the school a positive place to learn and grow. She is also a dedicated leader in our school community, serving as both bus patrol and a kindergarten helper. Charlie takes pride in helping others and being a positive role model for younger students. Congratulations, Charlie. Thank you for being such a responsible, kind, and involved member of our Fairview Fairview family. Keep soaring. Our
079second um soaring comet from Fairview is Rizon Quan here? No, okay. I'm going to share what the staff said about Rizon. Rizon's favorite subjects are math, gym, and science. He works hard in the classroom and brings great energy and enthusiasm to everything that he does. Outside of school, he is a passionate about soccer, his favorite sport. He is actively involved in playing soccer and is breath especially proud of his talent and skill in the game. In fact, he says soccer is is the talent he is best at. In his free time, he enjoys playing Roblox and reading. At school, he appreciates spending time with his friends and especially enjoys getting to play sports together at recess. He believes the best thing about Fairview is the friendships that he's made and the fun that they share.
080He is a responsible leader in our school community serving as a bus patrol, keeping our students safe each day. Congratulations, we are very proud of you, your hard work, your leadership, and positive attitude. Keep soaring. Okay. Okay, next we have two from Rice. Let's start with Jackson Kepping. Jackson, are you here? All right. So, Jackson, congratulations. Mr. Junas and Mrs. Nicholas wrote the following about you. Mr. Junas is in the back. Thank you so much for coming. We We We appreciate you always coming to every meeting. So, your teachers wrote that you are a strong student who consistently exceeds Miss Nicholas's expectations. In math, Miss Nicholas reports that Jackson is highly intelligent, thinks outside of the box, and is able to clearly and thoroughly explain even the most challenging mathematical concepts. He takes pride in
081his work and continually strives for good grades. In science, she notes that Jackson frequently contributes to class discussions and often brings unique insights to the topics explored. Beyond academics, he is kind, he's hardworking, polite, and mature, and his great personality makes him a valued member of the classroom community. Mr. Junas said about Jackson, he's a prime example of what a soaring comet should be. As the year goes on, he's continually impressed by you and the student as a young man. In the classroom, you're a high achiever, working hard, pushing yourself beyond the limits. He has shown significant growth since September. Jackson continues to set high standards for himself and works hard to meet those standards. He's not only doing well academically, but he is also an active active participant in classroom discussions. He participates regularly
082and asks relevant and critical thinking questions. He also enjoys his own stories and comments as they relate to the topic. Outside of the classroom, Jackson is a dedicated member of the Junior Comets football team and is involved in basketball. He's part of the sixth grade safety patrol at Rice, where he serves as an effective role model for other students. In fact, on three separate occasions this year, the teachers approa- or he approached the teachers to comment on something positive noteworthy that Jackson has done. So, whether it's walking as a kindergartner to take the bus, trying someone tying someone's shoe, or ensuring the children are well-behaved, Jackson takes the responsibility as a safety patrol very seriously and that should be commended. I have a poster in my classroom that says character, it's how you live life
083when no one is looking. If that statement truly defines character, that is Jackson Kepping. As I watch him every day interact with his peers, teachers, and other adults in the building, I see a kind, respectful, focused young man who has a bright and successful future ahead. So, congratulations. All right. Next, we have Khushboo Patel. Mrs. Nicholas wrote about you that you're a truly exceptional student who stands out not only for your intelligence, but also for your kindness and character. You consistently are nice and caring and thoughtful to her toward everyone around you, and she often goes out of her way to help classmates when they are struggling. In math, Miss Nicholas and reports that you excel in the I-Ready math program and has a natural ability to explain those concepts clearly, making you a natural
084teacher among her peers. Whether she is helping someone understand a difficult problem or offering encouragement, she knows genuine care for other's success. She actively serves on the bus patrol and is a kindergartner helper, as well as a member of the Little Aviators Club, demonstrating her commitment to help both her peers and her school community. She is responsible and respectful. She approaches every task with maturity and dedication. In science class, she participates regularly sharing through those thoughtful ideas, contributing positively into discussions. Her strong work ethic, leadership, and willingness to help others make her a wonderful role to her classmates. Mr. Ajunas reports that in social studies and ELA, you continue to do an amazing job in sixth grade. You're always focused, motivated, engaged during the classroom discussions and activities. She has a strong work ethic and
085is successful working independently on in a group setting. You enjoy the sense of humor, the stories that often are shared. Moving beyond the classroom, you are now a part of the sixth grade play and doing a wonderful job. We are so glad that you stepped out of your comfort zone and is involved in something that will allow you to grow both as a student and a young lady. Congratulations. So, that concludes the soaring comet section. Families, you're more than welcome to stay with us, or you can go as well. But, thank you all for coming. >> Thank you all. We will move next into the superintendent's report, Mrs. Melazzo. >> Yes, thank you. Um I just have a couple announcements to make. Um I mentioned Little Avidem Club in sixth grade. Um I had the
086Rice Township supervisor, uh Mr. Arnold, had reached out to me looking for volunteers and the first thing I thought of was our Little Avidem Club in sixth grade. So, they are packing uh for our annual Easter egg hunt, which is on March 28th right at the Rice Township building. They filled the eggs in like 3 days and it was like 6,000 of them and they're getting more. So, um I just want to share that group uh how amazing our students are and the connection that we're making and between our school district and our community. Um and besides them filling the eggs, they are going to participate as volunteers at the Easter egg hunt and our two Avidem Club advisors will be there as well. So, I just want to share that with everyone. Um also,
087just letting everybody know our Comets Let's Soar Day scheduled for June 2nd. And um that concludes that part of my uh superintendent report. And then, I also have a statement that I would like to read to the public. The Crestwood School District is aware of the recent sentencing of the local tax collector in connection with the embezzlement of public funds. We recognize the concern the situation may cause for our community and want to provide a clear and accurate information. Following through a review and as confirmed during an investigation, no funds collected on behalf of the Crestwood School District were misappropriated. All school district revenues have been fully accounted for. The district cooperatively and the district cooperatively fully with the law enforcement and the investigative authorities throughout the entire process and remains committed to transparency, accountability,
088and the responsibility of stewardship of the public funds. We appreciate the diligence of the investigators in resolving this matter and remained focused on serving our students, our families, and our community. If anybody has any questions at all, please reach out to me directly or to Ms. Otero. My phone number 570-474-6888. And then, my my email address is online as well. And that concludes my report. Thank you. >> We will move on to public testimony on agenda items. Our public guests are reminded that the public testimony is limited to 3 minutes. Any person providing testimony to the board during a meeting should state their name, spell their last name, and state their municipality. If speaking for an organization, the name and identity of that organization. Questions may be submitted at any time to CSD public comments
089at CSDcomments.org by 4:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting to be read in public. The board meeting is regularly scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. So, anyone is welcome at this time to come to the podium if there are any questions on agenda items. >> I just have Hi, Stephanie Weber, Wright Township. Probably because I wasn't paying attention at the committee meeting, but on financial committee number six, can you just explain that a little bit more? Um the Edmentum payment for the cyber academy. Um it says the initial prepay of 200,000. Um so, A, what would that be going for? B, what if that's the initial prepay, what is the total sum that we're looking at? And then, just for clarification, how many students are actually in our cyber academy? Um and do we
090have an anticipate I know it's probably early yet, but an anticipated number for that school year? >> Okay, I'll I'll answer some of your questions and then either uh the superintendent or maybe Mr. Gorham, who I know oversees that program, >> Sure. >> could supplement it. >> That's a good >> But the um as it sounds like you're aware, Edmentum is the curriculum and the platform that we use for the Crestwood cyber academy. The way that contract works, we make an initial payment, and this one is $200,000, and then as it's used, that money gets debited until it hits zero, and then we're we may have to make an additional payment based on our usage. So, we can't we can't give a flat amount the way they build their contracts to say it's good for
091the year. We we pay that amount, and then they pull from it as the year goes on. And um so, that's how that works. As far as number of students, you have it? >> I have that, Ms. Weber. I figured somebody was going to ask, so I asked Mr. Goren to provide that for me tonight. So, there are today 92 students total in our Crestwood cyber. I have it broken down. Elementary, there's 14. 7th and 8th grade, there's 16. And we have 9 through 12, we have 62. So, they um That does fluctuate based upon student needs. But that is how many students we have. >> Okay. So, for this school year, do we have a number of how much money they have been given in total or aside from the 200K? >> I mean,
092I could I could speak to like the 3-year rolling average of >> Okay. >> Since it does fluctuate from year to year >> Sure. >> the enrollment numbers and whether they're full enrollment in elementary or secondary, the cost is different. But the 3-year average of what we spend is $195. $163 is the average over the last 3 years. And the reason we budget a certain amount up front is so that the enrollment process is fluid. So, as the school year's going on, what they did prior to us starting our own cyber academy here is They they they had a third-party cyber, but it wasn't like a formal >> Right. >> cyber school that we run our own. So, when a new student would come in or >> [cough] >> interested in cyber, they we would
093have to get a bill from the from them, pay the bill. The process would be kind of clunky. It would take like 2 weeks to get them enrolled. But now, since we have that pre-payment up front, it's fluid. It's very fluid. We can get them in within 24 hours. >> And is that including the teachers' salaries in that or no? >> So, it's >> Cuz they're our teachers, right? >> They're they're not our teachers. It's Okay. 200, but yeah. Yeah, yeah. Oh, sure. So, you're really not if your numbers are correct, you're not giving more than that 200,000 then. Okay. Okay, thank you. Are there any more questions from the board or the public on agenda items? No? Okay, we will move into our committee reports. Mr. Gallagher, financial. >> Yep, financial committee consists of
094Mrs. Armenian, Dr. Patty, and and me. I'd like to recommend the approval of items 1 through 7. I do this every board meeting, I'm sorry. Um so, the case I just want to highlight and thank again all of the hard work of our instructors. They are uh doing this pro bono, so I will not list all of them here, but if you see pro bono, we just want to
098thank you for doing that. It makes the program even more successful, um and just show our appreciation. I know that they did want to come here tonight and present. Um they are unable to, so they may come to the next meeting. They had a lot of great things to share with the board, but again, I just want to say thank you to all of them. >> Really great program for the community, so thank you CASE for all you do. Co-curricular, Mr. Naimy. >> Thank you. We're seeking and recommending the approval on a vote for items numbers 1, 2, and 3. 099Slavitsky. >> Yes. >> Mr. Patty. >> Yes. >> And Mrs. McCurdy. >> Yes. >> Motion carried. >> Physical plant and construction, buildings and grounds committee, Mrs. Romanishan. >> We have no items, so there's no we adjourn the meeting, the committee. >> Thank you. Uh intermediate unit, Mr. Nemy? >> There's no report at this time. Uh we are scheduled for a meeting on Wednesday, March 25th, 2026. 6:30 at the LIU 18 building. >> Thank you. Uh Wilkes-Barre Area Career and Technical Center, um Would you like to make the report or >> Uh >> I can take it. >> Okay. >> Um >> [laughter] >> Yes. >> Was it sure what we were >> Yeah, that's okay. Uh Dr. Griglea, um who has been the superintendent for quite a few years. I don't I believe it's 10
101years at the CTC, um has uh submitted his resignation and the board has accepted that. Um we thank him for the service that he's done for all of our students. Um and in the meantime, we're working on the budget for next year. We're preparing to pass uh the JOC budget and um as we work on that, I will be bringing information to the board as necessary, so um >> Madam President, is that a resignation or retirement? >> It's a retirement. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, and uh the minutes are on file in the superintendent's office and on the district website and the next CTC meeting is Monday, April 20th, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. at the CTC. >> Can I just ask a quick question regarding that? I noticed cuz I went on the website to
102try to look at the audit report and they don't have that posted. I mean, isn't that something that should be posted? I mean, is that typically how I thought school districts always had to have audit reports posted on? >> Yeah. Um I am not sure why that wouldn't be available, but if you'd like me to get a copy of that for you. >> you could just make sure that they post it. I mean, I think it should be something we cuz I planned on attending the meeting, but then when I was not able to see the audit report, it didn't make any sense to attend the meeting. And then from my understanding, they don't I mean, it would be nice to just see the audit reports for the public. I think it's important to see
103that. >> Yeah. Uh well, I I apologize on behalf, but >> not you. It's It's on the Yeah. >> I will look into it for you.
