I will be seeking approval of the minutes of the regular board meeting held on October 17th and we'll be seeking approval of the treasures report for

September and October 2025. Moving on to reports, Superintendent Mr. Molazo. >> Thank you. So, as you all know, um I always start with our elementary soaring comments. Um specifically our sixth graders. So, when I announce your name, if you're here, uh, please stand up. And I'm just going to read what the teacher said about each of you. So, we're going to start with Adeline Peters from Rice Elementary. So, Adeline, Mrs. Nicholas, who is here, um, wrote this about you. So, Adeline exemplifies a soaring comet. She is the all-around package. Adeline is kind, hard-working, polite, and respectful. She is willing to help any student. She's a diligent worker and rebounds quickly if she meets an academic obstacle. Her positive nature and go-getter attitude make her an easy role model that her classmates can look up to.

With a smile on her face, a kind demeanor, warm personality, and grit determination, Adeline is a shining example of a soaring comet. Congratulations. Okay, next we have Connor Dalton Kosko. And we have Mr. Junis here as well. Thank you both for attending tonight. Uh Mr. Junas wrote about Connor. Uh Connor has been a wonderful student since the start of the school year. From the beginning, he has displayed consistent motivation and strong work ethic. Additionally, he has displayed a deep interest in the content and love of learning. In the classroom, Connor is an active participant each and every day. He consistently engages into the classroom discussions and is eager to ask relevant and thought-provoking questions as well as adding in uh insightful comments of his own. Furthermore, Connor is not afraid to go that extra mile.

It is uncommon when given an assignment for him to do what is just required. He actually adds more to what is required and enriches the activity and assignment in his own ways. In addition, Connor is polite, kind, respectful young man. He treats everyone in the school, children, and adults with kindness and respect. He is well-liked among his peers and shows strong leadership qualities. At Rice Elementary, we encourage the sixth grade students to follow the four Rs. Respect, be responsible, be ready, and be a good role model. Connor certainly demonstrates not only all of these character characteristics, but all of the characteristics necessary to be a soaring comet. Congratulations, Connor. From Fairview Elementary, do we have Lydia Nardy here? Okay, she's not here. Um, so I'm just going to read what the staff said about Lydia.

So, congratulations Lydia on our soaring comment for October. Lydia is an outstanding sixth grader who always gives her best effort in everything that she does. She especially enjoys science, ELA, and math, and her curiosity and determination shine in the classroom each day. Outside of the school, Lydia loves running, baking, and listening to music. and she's also a proud me member of the Frontier Girls. In her free time, you can often find her out running and enjoying her favorite songs. Lydia says the best thing about Fairview Elementary is the people, and we think she's one of the people who makes it such a great place. She also helps keep our school safe and is a welcoming lobby patrol. Congratulations, Lydia. Your positivity, kindness, and hard work make you a true soaring Comet. We are so proud

of you. And our last soaring comment is Vy Vit. Did I say that right? >> Verat Verat Nadu. All right. Congratulations to you. You are a soaring comet for October. You are an outstanding sixth grader who loves math and science and approaches learning with curiosity, determination, and a positive attitude. You consistently give your best effort and sets a great example of his classmates. Outside of school, you stay active with karate, swimming, and chess. In your free time, you enjoy playing with friends, riding bikes, and challenging himself within the class. You have achieved impressive accomplishments, including winning academic medals, and advancing in karate and swimming ranks. You are the best thing about Fairview Elementary is you do fun things and learning and that helps you make our school welcoming as a place for a kindergarten helper

assisting Mia, Olivia, Roger with their buses. So congratulations. Your hard work, your talent and positivity truly make you a soaring comet. We are so proud of you. So, thank you to all of our soaring comets for coming tonight and our families and our our staff that came tonight. That's that's really special. You're more than welcome to stay for the rest of the meeting or you may go. That's completely up to you. But congratulations to you all again. Okay. So, uh for the rest of my uh superintendent report, um I do have a couple updates. First, I'd like to mention our high school esports. Um, they we do have two teams this year that are in the playoffs. They were playing tonight and Friday, and they're competing against other students within their age bracket in New

York and Florida. Um, yeah, pretty exciting. Um, I also want to mention, um, you know, on Veterans Day in and around there, um, I want to thank our community veterans who spoke and shared their experiences with our students. a great job by our faculty and staff to organize that with our our veterans. Um, I do want to congratulate the varsity competition cheer. They're taking two routines down to UCA nationals, which is in January. I also want to wish good luck to our winter sports. We did have open house and gallery nights to say that the community, the families, the students, the support, it was absolutely amazing those last two days. Um, I want to thank again the faculty, the staff, um, you know, our students, our families who made that extra special. Just a reminder

for Thanksgiving, the school is closed on Thursday, November 27th through December 1st. December 2nd, we have parent teacher conferences and school will be closed barring any weather. Um, we have secondary campus student celebration for quarter 1 on Monday. Just a friendly reminder for senior citizen holiday breakfast. That's from free for um anyone that's 16 and over to please, you know, RSVP. It's not required. Um but if you are interested, it is on December 7th from 8 to 11. And the phone number for Miss Otto is 570-474688. And finally, sorry, really long today. Um, but so I just want to take a moment and sincerely thank our outboarding our outgoing board members. Mr. Mackery, you've served four years. Mr. Boon, you've served eight years as a school board member and 26 years here as an educator.

Mrs. Campbell for four years. Mr. Nardon, we're going to go with two. You've been in and out. We'll go with two. But for seriousness, for all of you, your dedicated service to our Crestwood School District, serving on the school board really does require a significant amount of time. Time away from your families, thoughtful decisionmaking, and deep commitment to our students and community. Throughout your time serving on the board, each of you brought a unique background and valuable perspective to the board. It was your strength of your collective experiences, not your differences, that helped the shape the Creswood into a highly desired school district within public education. Your student centered approach ensured that the district remained uh focused on what was best for our students. Together, you supported meaningful progress in strengthening our district infrastructure, expanding

academic programming, enhancing safety and security across all of our buildings, and so much more. Your contributions and service will have a lasting and in positive impact on our students, our faculty, administration, staff, and families. So on behalf of the administration, I extend my sincere appreciation for each of you and your leadership and your service. Thank you for all of your support to me and I wish you all the very best. >> Thank you, Mrs. Malazo. Before moving on to committee reports, I would like to have a moment of silence. We had a long-term district employee, Danny Davis, pass away recently. He was buildings and grounds for many years here at the high school. Please a moment of silence. Thank you. Moving on to committee reports. Just like to remind the public um public guests reminded

that your comments are limited to three minutes. Please come to the podium and state your name and municipality. And if you are speaking for an organization, please tell us that organization. We'll start off with financial planning. Mr. Nardone, >> thank you. Um, I'll be seeking approval for items one through five on the agenda. Any questions from the board? >> Um, so just I did read the um [snorts] not reports but contracts that came over. So, but just to clarify on number three. So we can pull out of the contract at any time in this next year. >> Yeah, I'll take that. Um, so the way the way the renewal is written, we can pull out uh some of the bonuses and incentives that are associated with it would get prorated back based on a quarterly

basis. And uh Mr. Suster's office is reviewing that uh renewal offer as well as all the underlying contracts to make sure there's no gotchas in there that would create any problems associated with an early renewal. So, a lot of times items on here where it says pending solictor review and approval, we get it like by today or um within a couple days. That one I know is a much heavier lift. So, I wouldn't be surprised if it takes them a few weeks to get through all that. It was a um it was one of those emails you got to split up because there's so many attachments. >> Okay. >> Um yeah, and I and I do I do want to say thank you, Tommy. I know this was a lot of work getting these these

changes and these renewal contracts and with with everything going on. Um and I appreciate all your time. um Rick too and Chris too going over these papers um and and you know just just to reiterate and I know I'm a broken record but you know uh this current healthc care situation is just a time bomb for this district and you know and the and the changes we see coming on again you know can only mean a financial disaster and I just I know I'm not going to be here at any of the meetings after today but I really hope moving forward we could find um a better solution that that still gives good health care but is just more financially stable for the district. >> Tommy, I have a I do have a question that

I thought of on the way over here. Are >> this is for one year. Is there any chance that if we do not come to terms with another health care provider that this can be extended? I mean, I I I know we have a con constraint of 12 months, >> and we're assuming we're going to find a provider that we can live with and meet the needs of, you know, our patient population or the patient population. But if we don't, is there any opportunity to work within this extension for for more time? >> Yeah. So, imagine 360 gave no indication that they were um done with us necessarily after a year. They just acknowledged the challenges that we've been having as of late with the major local provider. But if we're not satisfied with any

of the additional offers that we get um throughout next year as we shop around, my expectation is they would be willing to to renew us. I haven't had that conversation with them directly. We really been focusing on the the here and now. Um but they've even you know they as you know they encouraged us to that we probably should talk around shop around but in that last offer they made they even sweetened it a little more. So they're not you know they would love to keep us. They're just being honest that it might not be in our best interest. And I mean we do we do resign with them every year. I mean, you know what I mean? Like their contract comes up every year. And I will say they've always been very good sitting

with us and negotiating and and seeing where where we are. So I wouldn't see why >> year we wouldn't have at least the same opport at least the opportunity to sit down and talk with them. And >> yeah, the question that I would beg though is >> there seems to be a major shift in reference base pricing in the country and how um feasible that is going forward. So how their business may change 12 13 months from now. I I don't know, but they certainly didn't say, "Hey, this is one year and you're out." There was nothing like that said. Okay. At all. And I know the call you were on the last time, nothing as well. So, >> any other questions from the board. Thank you. Transportation. Mr. McCertie. Thank you. I will be

recommending item number one. Are there any questions from the board, from the public? Seeing none. >> Thank you. Policy, Mr. Boone. >> I will be recommending consideration and approval of uh policy number 9003. Questions or comments, input from the board or the public? Seeing none, we'll move on. Thank you. Human resources. Mr. Bibla, >> I'll be seeking approval of items 1 through 13. >> Item number three should reflect that it says internal transfer. Any questions from the board? Any questions from the public? >> There we go. Hi, Nancy Romanian. ice harvest in Mountaintop, Pennsylvania. Um, I had a question regarding um the new special counsel that was hired. Um, first of all, thank you for posting the contract because that was great to see the details. Um, and it does appear in there that there

was that they're hired for a conflict of interest and I'm assuming again, but I thought we already had somebody. So, they replacing Tunis talk. Uh, this can you hear me? This individual is being retained as general conflict counsel. Uh Mr. Tunis was retained for a particular matter. The need has arisen uh for a general conflict counsel to be appointed to the board and this is the individual that this board has selected at this time. >> So is there a different case or something complaint that's happening? >> So yeah, this um if the board so chooses to approve uh this individual, he will be serving as general conflict counsel. there any other conflicts that come up uh that are presented that require review by council that I am conflicted out of for whatever reason. It will

be this individual who will handle all those moving forward. >> Can I ask why we can't use Tunis for that same reason? I'm I'm I'm sorry. I apologize. I'm confused. We couldn't we use him as a council as general counsel as well? >> Sure. It it I mean this could be any any attorney. It just so happens that the board seems to have chosen this particular firm for this particular time. >> Thank you. >> Any other questions from the public? Seeing none. >> Thank you. Moving on. Academic committee. Mr. Champy. >> Thank you. I will be seeking approval for items one through four. Are there any questions from the board? Seeing none, any from the public? Seeing none, that's everything for academic. >> Thank you. Co-curricular, Mrs. Campbell. >> Thank you. I will be asking

for approval of items one through nine. Um, any questions from the board? No. Any questions from the public? Nope. Seeing none. >> Thank you. >> Physical plant. Mr. Gallagher. >> Yes. I'll be seeking approval for items one through four, which just have to deal with outstanding payments on work that's already been done. Any questions from the board? >> Any questions from the public? >> Thank you. Technology Committee, Mrs. McCertie, >> no report this evening. Thank you. >> Behavioral health and safety. Mrs. Sigator Zigerk, >> nothing for tonight. >> Liu, Mrs. Campbell, >> thank you. Um, the minutes are on file on the superintendent's office and the district's website. Uh, there was just a meeting last night, so I don't know if those minutes have been uploaded as of yet, but they will be. Um, and

the next LU meeting will be Wednesday, December 17th, uh, at 6:30 p.m. in the LIU auditorium. >> Thank you, CTC. Mrs. McCertie, >> thank you. I would like to recognize one of our students, Isabella Miller. Uh, she took fifth place at the Bloomsburg Fair Floriculture Competition. So, congratulations on that. The minutes are on file in the superintendent's office and the district website. And the next CTC meeting is Monday, December 15, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. at the CTC. Thank you. >> Thank you. We'll be moving on to non-aggenda items. Again, please remind uh public, please come to the podium, state your name and municipality. And if you're speaking for a organization, please state their name. >> I have two non-aggenda items um that were submitted to me and I've been asked to read them. So, the

first one is from Fairview Township, Jack Dean, and he asked me to read this today. President Machi, board members, uh Mr. Boon, Mrs. Campbell, and Mr. Nardone. I want to thank you for your years of service to the Crestwood School District. Through your leadership and dedicated work, the Crestwood School District is in a better place today than when you began your tenures. I especially want to thank Barry for his 45 years affiliation with the Crestwood School District. From teaching to coaching basketball to being the football stats person to volunteering with the food drive, you are an example of service before self that we can all learn from. You are not done, however, as we have an upcoming basketball season to broadcast. Finally, I consider you all friends and look forward to seeing you around the

mountain. It was a pleasure working with with you all. Jack Dean The final one that I have that was submitted early, uh, this is from Jim and Laura Brogna and family from Fairview Township. Mrs. Malazo, I would like to acknowledge Mr. Barry Boone for his many years of loyalty at the Crestwood School District, which ends with his term completion on the board of directors tonight. Mr. Boon, you have truly made a tremendous influence as an educator, coach, founding member of the Crestwood Education Foundation, and maybe above all as an ethical and professional volunteer board member. I am proud to have served with you during the most challenging health crisis of our generation and transitional period in our district's history. Although there are many sacrifices you were forced to make during your tenure and challenging times

when I'm sure you would prefer to have simply to have been a member of the community or spectator, your commitment and leadership has made our school district, our community, our property values, and many of our lives better. Thank you very much, Mr. Boom, Jim, and Laura Brogna and family. >> Thank you. I I don't know if this is time or place. I had nothing prepared tonight. Usually I come in with a a nice speech. I uh I one or two quick items. Uh I want to thank the people of Mountaintop for electing me and trusting me uh to help this district for the past eight years. Uh more [snorts] went on in the last eight years than I could have ever imagined when I when I joined the board. Uh so I want to thank

the thank the public for uh their vote of confidence. Um it's been a pleasure. Uh met a lot a lot of nice people on the board. Uh consider them all friends. Uh you know we disagree at times but uh we we work together for the the good of the district. As you may have heard in in some of these things said, uh the only thing I'm stepping away from right now is uh meetings Thursday, two Thursday nights a month. Uh I I'm still doing football stats. I'm still the color commentator on NFHS for girls basketball. I'm still on the Crestwood Education Foundation. I'm still on the uh nomination committee for our distinguished alumni award. I still help out in the backpack program. I still volunteer at the uh it's called the Crestwood uh produce market

which is actually our CEO fund uh uh CEO food drive. So I'm stepping away from one duty but I'm still going to be very busy and uh thank you for allowing me to serve. Well, Bar Barry and I switch roles because usually I have that nice eloquent paper written and I don't and I this time I wrote something and uh I told the board I had it at eight pages originally, but I brought it down to four. So, but uh if you like it, I'll do an unbridgeged version at a at a later date. Um but I would first uh just like to say how truly honored I am um to have been able to serve uh the school district. It's it's an amazing school district and I truly am honored. Um, I have a

list of people I would really like to thank. Uh, and in no one particular order, but um, first our security officers who work to protect our students. And a special shout out uh, to officer Tom and Officer Mike um, who take the time to get to know our students here at the secondary campus, uh, to build a rapport with them, to build respect, and to build trust. And this is just un unmeasurable. And I thank you both very much. Um to all of our support staff, thank you for all that you care for our students, for our buildings, our fields. Um many don't know the late hours that you work, how tirelessly you work. I mean, cleaning bathrooms, the cafeteria, keeping our kids in a safe, clean environment. Thank you all our secretaries who deal

with everyone from administrators to teachers to students and parents. Uh thank you for all your attention to detail. Thank you for always greeting me with a smile. God love anyone when they have to work that front window at the secondary campus, especially during lunch. Um, thank you. Uh, thank you to all of our teachers who care for and work with our students. Your passion and hard work are so appreciated. I have seen what a difference a great teacher can make and it is it just means the world. Um, thank you for all of those who have cared for my children. That's a personal thank you. Um, and thank you for all those who took the time to talk to me, usually after hours since I couldn't talk during the day, usually because of my work,

um, to help teach me how to make the school better. Um, thank you to all of our coaches and club adviserss. I see the countless hours you put into making our students more confident, more social, more engaged, and all over better people. Um, I was recently able to brag at the LU how over 80% of our kids are involved in co-curricular. And I mean a lot of them just couldn't couldn't believe it. And I mean so much of that is thank thanks to all of you. Um I saw with my older son how much he grew from PJS and model UN how he learned to present to organize his thoughts to gain confidence in speaking in public and confidence in himself. And I I've seen that even carry over to college. Um and these again

are just unmeasurable. And I thank you. Um thank you to all our administrators and administrative team. Um, most don't see the countless hours you put into helping the school. Um, you're here year round trying to make the school better for the students. Thank you for all of the many, many hours you've all put in answering my questions and helping me understand current situation and needs. Thank you to Natasha for pouring your heart into this district. Um, thank you for agreeing to be our superintendent in spite of the financial situation at the time. Thank you for helping to grow our schools, our STEM programs, our art, music, AP classes, language programs, and most importantly and closest to my heart. Thank you for not just believing we could complete the door project because you were the first

to tell me that we couldn't just do it, we needed to do it. You helped make that happen. And I tell everyone that project would not be there without you. Thank you. To my fellow board members, no one can understand what this job entails unless you live it. Um, as Anna had said recently, there are many weeks we spend more time with each other than with our family and friends. Um, it's been a roller coaster ride. Um, and I could not have asked for a better group of people to go through this. Uh, I have the utmost respect for all of you here at this table. Um, we may not, as Barry said, we may not have always agreed. Um, but we always knew we were coming from a place that we wanted to do

what was best for the kids. Um, and we always listened to each other and heard each other out and and came to to an agreement. Um, and I'm truly honored to have served with all of you. Uh, quick thank you to my family who supported me on this journey. I'm sorry for all the hours I spent in schoolboard meetings, phone calls, or doing work on the computer. I know I missed many dinners and events [snorts] and I'm also sorry for the lies you had to hear and endure. [snorts] Uh and on a side note, um just something I I need to say and I've been trying for a couple months to figure out how to say it. Um and I speaking to the students of the district. So if there's any kids watching or any

teachers or parents that maybe at someday I'll find this will be an appropriate thing to share. I just wanted to share a little bit of part of my journey. Um, you know, when I decided I was going to run and I said I was going to run, I was told I'll never get enough votes. But I did. And then I was told, "Well, I'm never going to get elected." And I I had people say this to me, "You'll never get elected." But I did. And then I was told, "Well, that's fine, but you'll never get the doors built." But I did. And I'm not saying this to brag or build myself up because many people help me in this journey. >> [snorts] >> I say this to you because at some point in your life,

if someone tells you that you can't achieve your goal, maybe they aren't telling you your limits, but their own limits. So someday, if average people are telling you that you can't do something, maybe [snorts] you're just not meant to be average. So I beg all the students to be you, to be brave, and to please be who you're meant to be. So that's all. Thank you. Thank you. And not to belabor it, but just to echo everything occurred tonight. Um, I agree with Barry. I agree with Mara. I agree with all the sentiments from earlier this evening. Thank everybody that been on this board this term, past terms that I've worked with. It is tremendous amount of effort. And yes, I would also like to thank my family for putting up with the phone calls,

the late nights, the meetings, all the takeaway from their time in order to serve on the board, which I do create. Um, feel a definite honor to have been on. I also want to shout out to the administration and the professional staff. They've all been amazing. Four years when there were real issues, things got solved. May not have always been quick, but they were solved. everyone. This is a truly wonderful district, everyone in it from support staff to IT to professionals to teachers, everybody. But truly um thank our superintendent for holding it all together and putting endless hours in. I never understood how many hours and responsibilities the superintendent had before being on the board, but seeing what Miss Malazo puts in each and every week, weekends, evenings, she puts the kids in the community

first all the time, above her family, above all else. She's done a tremendous job through difficult and good times. So certainly my thanks for making my time on the board as beneficial as it could be. Thank you. Any comments from the public? me on some things. I I didn't think it was on. Um Marlo, I know you and I uh but at heads one meeting a couple years ago, but I know you're a great person. Um you taught my son you you coached them. I coached your kid and uh you know my my son and my wife uh think the world of you. So uh thank you for all you did. And Mr. Boon, thank you sir. Thank you for all the time you put in. It's an unpaid position. Mr. uh Webbby also uh

departed. So I'd like to thank you all for the time you put in and uh your efforts for an unpaid position. Um, I just have a a question, Mr. Sleser. I'm not a legal expert, but the sunshine law. Okay. And you can answer me yes or no. With uh Mr. Rubbish put the uh the suit that was in the paper and she claimed about it. Is that ethical? Yes or no? With her being on the board and the soup? Just you don't have to go into legal terms. >> Okay. and and for the sake Nancy's here right in the front row. Uh for the sake of you know bringing the district together I know the board made a mistake with that uh thing there. Do you think you know we could drop that maybe to

unburden the taxpayers? >> I just plan on going. >> Okay. Thank you. I appreciate that. Thank you. That shows your leadership. >> Without asking >> Thank you. That shows your leadership. >> I have to get out of it. I have till January 5th is all >> Well, thank you. I can help you figure that out. the taxpayers next week for two weeks. >> Any other questions, comments? >> Uh, I'd like to thank my wife, too. She she she when I just just a side note, when I first came on the board, uh I I'm old-fashioned. I didn't even have a cell phone. ask Anna, the superintendent would call the the landline and or call my wife and she'd say uh here superintendent's calling and in fact well a little bit busy today and I got

a a call from a another board member and my wife answered the phone. So, uh she's she's been a awesome supporter. uh like they said it there's a lot more to this that until you get on the board and uh you know uh I said something tongue and cheek last week uh and it pertained to to Nancy asking about sunshine law and stuff and Nancy my my response is this >> after you draw your last breath >> last breath on earth you don't know what's next. You have to die to know what's next. And that's what it's like going on the school board. There's things there's things there that just cannot be discussed that you we we can't we can't say and you won't know until you get here. >> Thank you for the advice.

>> I hope I hope I don't die for it. Seeing no other comments, we'll move on to the voting session. >> Roll call. >> Mrs. Bibla >> here. >> Mr. Champy >> here. >> Mrs. Chor Ziggoric >> here. >> Mr. Gallagher >> here. >> Mrs. McCertie >> here. >> Mrs. Campbell here. >> Mr. Nordon >> here. >> Mr. Boon >> here. >> And Mr. Mri >> here. >> Nine members present. I make a motion and seek a second for the approvals of the minutes of the regular board meeting held on October 17th. Have a second. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I opposed. >> Motion carries. >> I so move and seek a second for the approval of the treasures report for September and October 2025. Have a second. >> Second. >> Roll call.

Who is that? Sorry. Mr. Gallagher. >> Mr. Boon. >> Oh, Mr. Boon. Sorry. >> Uh, Mrs. Bibla. >> Yes. >> Mr. Champy. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Choric. >> Yes. >> Mr. Gallagher. >> Yes. >> Mrs. McCertie. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Campbell. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nardone. >> Yes. >> Mr. Boon. >> Yes. >> Mr. McCri. >> Yes. >> Motion carried. >> Financial planning. Mr. Nardone. >> Thank you. I make a motion and seek a second for items one through five. >> Second, >> Mrs. Bibla. >> Yes. >> Mr. Champy. >> Yes. >> Mr. Chur Mrs. Chaitra Zoric. >> Yes. >> Mr. Gallagher. >> Yes. >> Mrs. McCertie. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Campbell. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nardone. >> Yes. >> Mr. Boon. >> Yes. >> And Mr. McCary. >> Yes. >> Motion carried.
