start. Everyone could rise for a flag salute and a moment. >> I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Okay. Uh just a reminder that all or a portion of this meeting may be livereamed, recorded, and posted on the district's YouTube channel for the purpose of public broadcast and according to board policy. Susan has taken the roll
call. I don't believe we have anyone for public comment. Okay. Um, we have nothing for the student board report and no presentations tonight. Um, under unfinished business, we have the purchase order of the Scholastic Bingo for books. Can I have a motion for this? >> Motion by Katie, seconded by Dee. All those in favor? >> Opposed? >> I. >> Motion carries. I need approval for the minutes from the December 2nd uh reorganization and voting meetings. Can I have a motion to approve? So move. >> Second. >> Motion by Trevor, seconded by Dee. All those in favor? >> Opposed? >> Motion carries. Under the reports for athletics, uh we need approval for items one, two, three, one through six. Um any questions or discussion on those items? Jessica, I didn't know if you were going to
ask that question that we that we had talked about. Um, do the the people that I don't know if it's in this one here or not, but it is kind of I think um people the the the outside people that that want to use the gym or use the facilities, do they have to have clearances? Do they have clearances through who comes in or do we have to maintain their clearances as well? I'll answer that. So, so we have two separate divisions of this. One is outside organizations. They're separate entity. They're run exclusively by themselves. So, they um they're not our coaches and we're not requiring that. They do have to pay the um facility use or fill out the facility use form with the with the payment and the certificate of insurance and they
run their own program. Um the other programs and the ones that we were referencing last time um are extensions of our high school programs. So those are all volunteer high school coaches or on that have been approved by our board and they all do have clinics. >> Okay. But those one um >> do they let her go. >> She just said thanks. >> Okay. Um do they they provide us though with their clearances? Do we keep those on file at all? >> Not for outside. Okay. Do you think that we should? >> I don't think we can. >> I don't Yeah, I'm not sure that we can make them do that. They're they're I mean, >> uh they're paying for the facility. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. You're welcome, Jessica. >> Any other
questions on athletic report? >> Okay. Can I have a motion to approve items one through six? >> So moved. >> Motion by Doug. >> Seconded by Jessica. All those in favor? I >> opposed. >> I >> motion carries. Uh under transportation report, we have items one and two. Uh approval of bus drivers and bus stops. Can I have a motion to approve? >> Make a motion. >> Motion by Katie. >> Seconded by Dee. Any discussion? All those in favor? >> Motion carries. Under buildings and maintenance, we need approval for the uh two items here as for the roof project and also for a uh school facility improvement grant. All those in favor? >> I motion >> I'm sorry. >> Motion to approve. >> Motion by Cindy, seconded by Katie. All those in favor? >> I
opposed. Motion carries. Under the cafeteria report, we have uh bids for cafeteria equipment. Um can I have a Can I have a motion to approve this? >> So moved. >> Motion by Trevor. Second. >> Yes. >> Seconded by Doug. All those in favor? >> I >> opposed. I >> motion carries. Under federal programs and curriculum, we have approval for a workshop agreement with the Pennsylvania Principles Association. Can I have a motion to approve? Same motion. >> Motion by Katie, seconded by Dee. All those in favor? >> I >> opposed. >> Am I moving too fast for you? Okay. >> Under uh the superintendence report, we have um conferences and field trip, a consortium agreement with the West Morland Intermediate Unit, and a number of board revisions, items one through three. Can I have a motion
to approve? >> So moved. >> Motion by Doug. Second. >> Second by Allan. All those in favor? >> I >> oppose. >> I. >> Motion carries. Um we have one item under the elementary um uh principal report. Um is the approval of clubs. Um can I have a motion to approve that? >> So move second. >> Motion by Doug, seconded by Heather. All those in favor? >> Opposed? >> Motion carries. Um I'm I'm sorry I did not lump the high school in with I think I'm better at the other meeting instead of this one. >> Okay. A motion to approve the high school report here. There's two items. There's a budget transfer, a donation um from Dr. Wise's family uh to the agriculture club and a donation from McDonald's and also a donation to the
Deca Club from the Elkrun Fire Department. Um certainly appreciate those uh donations that support our students and these programs. Can I have a motion to approve? >> So moved. >> Motion by Trevor, seconded by Jessica. All those in favor? >> I seeing none. Under the financial reports, we have approval for items one uh which is the financial summaries. The occ the item two is the occupational tax exonerations. the items three and four, uh, the resolution that the district does not intend to raise real estate taxes and the receipt of the financial statements. Any discussions or questions for Susan on that? >> Just for clarification that we're not going to raise taxes above the index. >> Yes. >> Okay. Can I have a motion uh from Dee seconded? >> Second >> by Trevor. All those in
favor? >> Opposed? >> I. Motion carries. Under personnel, we have approval for um some substitutes, a couple resignations, um RFPs for uh substitute employee services and supplemental cafeteria services, and item number four is the hiring of a speech and language pathologist. Um any questions for Dr. K on those items? If I could just clarify again, just to make sure we're all understanding, the RFPs are an exploration. It's not we're not entering into an agreement with anyone on that. So those are for backup plans should we need them at some point. So we're only approving the exploration of this. Thank you for that clarification. Any other questions? Motion to approve. >> So move. >> Motion by Allen, seconded by Dee. All those in favor? >> I >> opposed. >> Motion carries. We heard reports of the
special committees from um Doug and from Heather on the IU6. Um I know there's a a paper here that uh discusses our our contributions and and what we get in return from the IU on that. So please review that. Again, I will ask at some point when we get the new IU director if we can just be briefed on the services provided by them. Um, under communications, do we have any communications? Seeing none, payment of the bills, we need approval for the general fund, the cafeteria fund, and item number three is for construction projects and cafeteria funds. Any questions on those? I have a motion to approve. >> Motion by Cindy, seconded by Trevor. All those in favor? >> Opposed? Motion carries. Under new business, I'll um recognize Dr. Kay who has an update that
he wants to give us. >> Yeah, I have some uh great student achievement news I just wanted to share. And this is um uh uh came to us just literally a few hours ago. Um this year was our first um adventure into the world of Minecraft build challenges. So um under the direction of our gifted coordinators, Mrs. Peterson, Mrs. Federer. Um they uh entered a junior senior high team, a seventh grade team, and a sixth grade team. And um our sixth grade team um won their region and were invited to compete at the state competition uh which will be in just a few weeks. So um we are going to um uh work on seeing to it that they can um participate that competition. So that field trip request isn't on this agenda. came in
too late like to include it, but we're going to make sure that they can get there to compete and represent our district. So, um, those three students, uh, Vincent Richardson, Truman Hill, and Jace London, all sixth graders, um, did a exceptional job and, uh, I didn't have a chance to put it together for you, but I can send the link to you so you can see the work that they presented. It's >> Yeah, >> it's quite amazing. So, congratulations to those kids and the staff for making sure that it happened. >> Great. >> Nice. Thank you, bud. >> Yeah. Anybody else have anything under new business? Uh >> when do we go over like what our the curriculum is going to be? Is it for February? Is it I mean do we get like our
curriculum >> guide and everything in February? >> Are we still looking into the agricultural um curriculum? >> We're looking at at um several additional components and the best way um to begin implementing some of those options. So Kyle has made a contact with the JOTC. I believe um the Army Division has someone who said I can start tomorrow. You just tell me when. Um as a initially as a club auction, there's no cost to us for that. Um the second component is the student run manufacturing enterprise. We're working on an application to get that piece up and running. that takes a little bit of time and um looking at facilities and and assets and working with the Weber Club and our tech department. So, we're putting those those pieces together. Um again, the best way
to start is a club version that's integrated. Um we're looking to combine DECA and our kids with that business acumen with our production folks to do something that I don't think is happening anywhere else. So, we have a lot of potential with that. and I have a contact um for FFA uh in Harrisburg and we keep playing phone tag um but we're definitely on the on the course to get that information and look again at how that how that can integrate with what we have what we might need to do um to get to a more robust program right now. I think our best course of action in that sense too is to start the club version so that we have some time to build what does our core look like? what do we want
that program to look like so that we can make sure all three of these >> also interest >> yeah in interest so all three of these are are sustainable and we know the right course of action instead of trying to rush it and get it um established as a program >> and and I would add to that we had some discussions also about um having some um assembly presentations at the high school level where representatives from those different groups can present you know what's involved what Is it um you know how can you participate in those types of things? Um perhaps ending it with >> Would that be for the parents as well or just the students? >> Well um probably to start with the students but I guess what what I was going to
add to that is that we can end the program. I'm sure they'll have some visuals and so forth and end it with a QR code. They can put it on their phone, give us some instant feedback on a survey in terms of you know to what degree they're interested that helps us plan >> um and gauge, you know, what type of staffing do we need? um how does this >> scheduling, >> right? Yeah, those types of things that get into core schedules as well as the the overlay with clubs. So, there's there's a lot of integration that will come together with that. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> Yeah, I think that's a good first step is gauging the the level of interest. >> Yeah, >> we've had, you know, some vocal people be interested,
but what how does that translate to the general >> numbers >> student population? So, and I assume there's a budgeting component to some of this as well, too. >> There there would be to launch a program. There's definitely the budgeting piece. Um, as far as the implementation of the clubs, not so much, which is why I think it's a I think it's the right path to start with with that kind of integration. um because we don't have to provide resources for something that that may not um exist as a permanent option. >> And some of the challenges are both um student interest, we need to gauge that, but also um where some of these will require staff to deliver those courses. Um finding certified staff in those areas is also a challenge. So, we don't
want to build a program and then not be able to staff it um or have kids interested in it. So, we're going to we're going to build it methodically, but um as Dr. Gaston said, I think the offering starting with a club is the easiest and most effective way to get the kids engaged, build a base, an interest, and then um if if it the interest is there to move it into uh core curriculum, we can do that. >> Okay. >> Uh >> thank you. >> Time frame for that is that something possibly like next year for these? So this is three different things you mentioned the J the three >> RTC the uh Weber club >> the yeah the student manufacturing >> um and FF >> and the FF. >> So the the idea
is if all things go as planned then we should be able to launch those clubs for the fall. >> Okay. >> Um I think we have the the pieces in place to make that work if the interest is there. Um but then that next year we'll really be looking and planning based on what we get feedbackwise from the kids and um how our programs are shaping up. >> Great. >> Any other questions on this? Anything else under new business? >> Yeah, Suz, do we need to discuss the Jefftech funding issue? >> I don't think so. She's going to present that to the board and then when we get the resolution, we'll walk through all the different pieces of it because it may change. There's a couple things she's looking at. Okay. >> tweaking and changing,
but yeah, we'll walk through that when it becomes time to discuss their budget. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Okay. Last call. >> Can I have a motion for adjournment? >> Motion from Katie, seconded by Cindy. All those in favor? >> That's got to be a record. Have a good night, everybody. We
