I'll second it. >> Okay, good. Now [snorts] we do a roll call vote for the position of board president. >> Are there any
other nominations? Of course, we have >> any other nominations. >> Roll call vote for the position of board president. >> Mrs. Evans, >> yes. >> Mrs. Ste Hutcherson, >> yes. >> Mr. Horner, >> yes. >> Mrs. Heather Sangelman, >> yes. >> Mrs. Lasco, >> yes. >> Mr. Mr. Nickel. >> Yes. >> Mr. Y. >> Yes. >> Mr. Blows. >> Yes. >> I have an 80 vote. That was >> former board president. >> Okay. Giddy up again. Well, thank you all. I appreciate your support and your nomination. I think um we will move on to the nominations for board vice president. Do I have any nominations?
>> I nominate Doug Lo. >> A second. >> The nomination is second. Are there any other nominations on the floor? Seeing none, I'd ask for a roll call vote for Doug Glo being uh appointed to board vice president. >> Mrs. Steph Hudson, >> yes. >> Mr. Horner, >> yes. >> Serial Celman, >> yes. >> Mrs. Alaska, >> yes. >> Mr. [cough] Nichol, >> yes. >> Mr. Yacht, >> yes. >> Mr. Blows, >> yes. >> Mrs. Evans, >> passes. Vote passes. Moving on to the next um permission to use the signature stamp. >> Motion second. >> Motion in a second. Uh can you explain just >> uh Katie was a second? >> This is >> we'll have to change all of the signature stamps to reflect the new board president's name. So until we can do
that, we need to use the current stamp. um with the names on them as they are and then we'll register the signatures with the Department of State. >> Okay. >> Any other discussion? Seeing none, uh do we need a roll call vote for this? >> Voice votes. Fine. All those in favor? >> Opposed? >> Motion carries. >> Um the next item on the agenda is the designation of the 2026 meeting dates. Um so what I had [clears throat] um asked everyone I I tried to uh see if there was any. So, so the the paper in front of you, if you look at the green paper, has all the dates on there. Um, first of all, are there any questions or issues with the dates uh for the committee meetings and voting meetings? The one
thing I had asked um you all to consider was changing the start time of the committee meeting uh from 7:00 to 6:00. Uh, I know sometimes these meetings tend to run a little bit later. Um, so this would get us started earlier, get us out of here earlier. I know we have people that live out of town, uh, administrators, so it helped them get home a little earlier, too. Um, I don't want to do this if anybody objects to it. I don't know that there were any objections. So, um, any other questions on the schedule or the calendar for this year? Seeing none, can I have a motion to approve the calendar for 2026? So move. >> Motion by Cindy, seconded by Doug >> with the six o'clock start time. >> Yes. 6:00 start time.
>> Any other discussion on this? >> Okay, take a vote. All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> Any opposed? Motion carries. Uh, moving on to the Jefftech representatives. So, we have um Bob Cardamone was was one of our appointees on there. Doug Lo was the second. >> Um Doug, you're appointed through 2026. Trevor is our alternate through 2026. So, he doesn't move up to >> unless he wants to. I mean, >> okay. >> So, we need another >> pardon. >> I'll do it. >> You'll be the other board member. Okay. >> So, then >> not an alternate being fulltime board. >> Mhm. >> Okay, cool. a motion to for him to move for that. >> Okay. So, can I have a motion for Trevor to move to the uh board?
>> So, moved. >> Second. >> Motion by Dee, seconded by uh Cindy. >> All those in favor? >> I opposed. Okay. Trevor is moved to the second appointee and we're going to need a alternate for this position and they basically just attend if if one either Doug or Trevor can't go. >> I would take the alternate if somebody else will take the IU6. >> Okay. So, where are the >> IU6 is inquiring and it's once a month. >> They feed you. >> They [laughter] I feed you. [laughter] >> Are you required to be on site or do they do it remotely? >> You can do um Zoom, but they do like you to be there. I It It was so hard for me to be there. Um I have trouble driving at night. Um so
I was mainly on Zoom a lot. Um, so they do like people to be there, but if you can't be there, then they will they will send a a Zoom. >> I mean, I'm familiar with the IU and >> I think you would probably be the best one to take it over. >> Perfect. >> Oh, congratulations. [laughter] >> I make a motion that Heather takes over. >> We have to have a motion for the alternator first. >> Oh, I'm sorry. I thought that's what we were. >> Yeah. >> Can I have a motion for Dee to be the alternate appointee to the Jeff Tech board? >> Motion by Doug, seconded by Trevor. All those in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? >> Okay. Dee is the alternate. And then um I think we just discussed
this, but for the IU6 representative, can I have a a motion for Heather to be the appointee for that? >> Motion by Dee, seconded by Cindy. All those in favor? I >> motion carries. So I think that's everything. I will ask for a motion to adjourn this portion of the meeting and we'll move on to our regular monthly meeting. >> Motion by Katie, seconded by Dee. All those in favor? >> Motion carries. >> You guys, >> thanks Bob. picture. >> Are you ready? >> You ready to do a picture? >> Yeah, I'm ready. Um, we do roll. >> We don't have to do that again. We're just going to reconvene at 7:16. You need to read that. >> Okay. I'm going to call this meeting to order at 7:16. Um, just as a reminder to
our guests, all of a portion of the meeting may be livereamed, recorded, and posted on the district's YouTube channel for the purpose of public broadcast and according to board policy. The district disclaims any responsibility or liability for any defamatory or slanderous statements expressed by any member of the public. Any unauthorized recording or rebroadcasting of any video, audio, or still image of this meeting is strictly forbidden without the written permission of of the board or superintendent. Okay, we um we already did our roll call and flag salute. Uh do we have any individuals sign up for public comment? >> I don't see anyone unless someone came in late, but nobody check. >> No, I Carmen, would you see if anyone signed up, please? I don't think so. Yep. >> Perfect. Thank you. >> Okay, so nobody
sign up for public comment. Uh moving on to student board reports. We have Elizabeth Valley's here uh to give us an update on what's going on at the high school. >> Right. So, um around the month ago, we had the play. We had a pretty good turnout that went pretty nicely. So, that was a great time. Um excuse [clears throat] me. We also have some uh pretty exciting events coming up. So, we have a holiday in the halls event coming up. That's pretty cool. And then art club will be window painting I believe on Thursday. Spread spread some holiday cheer. Uh the band and choir holiday concerts will also be coming up. Um the newly founded DECA team uh their competition will be coming up I believe not this week but the week after and
uh officers have been elected for that. And then we also got the first shipment for the new food pantry through the school and it's fully stocked. >> Great. >> Any questions or comments for Elizabeth? Thank you, Matt. >> Thank you for being here. >> Yeah. Have a great night, guys. Congratulations. >> Thank you. >> I don't believe we have any presentations for this evening. >> Do you want to give any comments? >> Um I I could just make a quick comment about our snow days. Today obviously was our first um winter snow event. So, just as a reminder, um that uh we have our district web page as well as our all call system uh Sky Alert that will be the official um sites for determining uh or communicating with families um whether it's a
delay or it's a cancellation. So, um there will be a forthcoming um uh parent flyer that I'll post that'll have, you know, a little bit more detail on on that, but u there was apparently some conflicting information about whether we were on a delay or cancellation. So, we'll make that more clear. >> There will be a school tomorrow. Yeah, >> we are operating on normal business scheduled tomorrow. >> Uh any unfinished business from last month? >> Okay. I'll ask um I guess this is a voting move meeting uh voting and committee meeting all in one. So I'll ask uh would ask for approval for the minutes for the November 6th and November 12th meetings. So move. >> Motion by Dee, seconded by Trevor. All those in favor? >> I opposed. None. Motion carries. Uh we'll
move on to the reports. Uh we have athletics with Mr. Gold. Um we are asking for approval to um hire the volunteer boys basketball coach. And we have resignations from Lisa Good and Mike Mhof. They are the girls and boys basketball or girls and boys tennis coaches and Christa Lowry who is the track and field coach. Um we also have a budget transfer request of $500 from the golf budget to the football transportation budget. Um any questions on any of those items? I have a motion to approve. >> So moved. >> Motion by Mr. Bllo. >> Seconded by Dee. Uh all those in favor? I >> opposed. >> Okay. Motion carries. Um, uh, DJ, do you want to come up? You have anformational item about the recognition of the football players and their accomplishments. >>
Yep. Good evening. >> Last month [clears throat] I did, uh, I did the other fall sports and fortunately for us, football was still playing. So, uh, I wanted to wait until they were finished. Uh, the other hand, several [clears throat] of those guys are busy and probably sled riding and so forth today, but that's okay. But I want to make sure that I recognize the football. Um before I do that, I quickly want to mention um tomorrow evening we're having meet the swim team. Uh everybody's invited. Uh we got it out on social media. It's a public welcome. Um starting at 4:30, going to be done around 6:00. I was talking to Zack Kane and uh Kelly Sakal a little bit about that. Going to introduce the team, let the captains talk a little bit.
Um the radio and the newspaper are going to be there. maybe get some interviews. Going to um teach some different strokes because uh you know folks that don't really know much about swimming um could see the different strokes and so forth. Then we're going to do a couple little races just to see all the equipment working and so forth. So we're really looking forward to that. Um I did hear today that there's going to be cookies there as well. [laughter] So if that gets you to come and check things out it's it uh really look forward to We did have a scrimmage last week. Um [clears throat] unfortunately a team cancelled on us but we made it work. uh got to practice with all the equipment, the timers, and I'll be honest, um those kids
work hard. I uh they really do um watching them swim and like, hey, 3 minutes, I need you in there. I very impressive. Uh the things were working. Everything was working fine. So, uh we're really looking forward to December 12th be a first home meet. But make sure you please stop up tomorrow 4:30 to 6:00 and uh meet the swim team. They're really looking forward to it. So, um, back to the football guys. Um, teamwise, as most of you know, um, we were D9 quad 8 champs. Only the third time ever. The last time was, uh, in 2009 with coach Nickel, who just reminded me of that. Um, [laughter] they also, uh, had the most wins since 2010. Was LA the last time they won 10 games. Um there were also uh as I have
Zane here and Owen Roken, they were the uh region one league champs and who was in the region and in region one is Clarion, Dub Boys, K City, us and St. Mary's. So three of the biggest teams and the strongest teams were in that region. We went up four- one in that region. So we were the region one champs as well. Uh we also um by defeating Brockway, they also have a trophy. It's called the Little Toby Creek Gobblers Knob Trophy. We have that. That's also my office. And we still have the uh Brookville, you know, the Route 36 trophy. It's going to stay in my office also. So, >> let's see it. >> Yeah. Stand up, Z. So, I can see that. Pass those around actually. Come on. Pick them up. >> Yeah. Come
on. Bring them over. >> So, this will get the district one will get mounted with the kids' name somehow on that. >> But, uh, this is the region trophy. Go ahead, Owen. >> Awesome. >> So, it's pretty cool for these guys. Um, >> that's pretty great season, >> great job. [clears throat] >> And I know they're very proud of it. And I know uh the whole the whole community came together. >> It was it was amazing. We were just talking um >> uh Dr. Smila and I about um homecoming, >> insanely busy for a good thing. But lack of tube teams playing, us boys, D boys travels well, but how well we were playing um it just made a great atmosphere. but you folks in the community uh saw it and made it happen and
the and these guys back here really worked hard and made it a successful year. Some of the individual stats I wanted to bring up to you guys. Um [clears throat] Matt Hetrick, quarterback for us, 296 career um completions, 4,445 yards. Um this season he had 1794 yards. That's second beyond his own record that he set two years ago. He's third all time with 41 career touchdowns and third all time in career quarterback uh wins with 20. So Matt had a great uh season here and and honestly that was really playing two years as quarterback. He really uh so he did a great job. Uh our uh best receiver [clears throat] Logan Moore, 68 season receptions, 128 career receptions. Um, career receiving yards and I checked with coach Snyder and he is uh he he really
kept an eye on that. He is actually tied with Bo Thomas. They actually same amount of yards and uh he had uh eight touchdowns this year which is third all time. Bo 41 career touchdowns, 19 career receiving touchdowns. Uh he had eight this year uh which is tied for third again with Logan. They had the same amount of career receiving yards. Uh he's second behind Logan with 119 career receptions. And one that really stuck out to me and and we made note of it. 336 career tackles. Um as coach [snorts and clears throat] uh Snyder and coach Nickel kind of went through things. It's not a there's nowhere where that's a record, but my goodness, three almost 400 career tackles should be if it's not a record, it should be something that's really uh looked
at as something big. He was also the region uh one defensive MVP. Jordan Routan, um he was also third alltime with career rushing yards of 297. So I I I didn't purposely forget one, but he's back here, but we'll talk about him in a second. All conference players, Logan Moore, Bo Thomas, Jordan Routan, Adam Muth, uh Owen Roken, Matt Hetrich, and Braden Dhart were honorable mention. So, it's been a terrific year. And I also want to um Owen's right here. He's a sophomore. He's our kicker. Um they call him kicker. That's what he does. Um he set the record this year with seven field goals made. He beat his record of four from last year. 68 uh kicking points, which I believe last year he had 52. Is that correct? >> And this year he
cricked a career long with 40 45 yards. >> Wow. >> Uh which he broke 42. He broke he had 44 earlier in the year and then had 45 late in the season. So um >> he's going places. I I would tell you that. And he's right here. He's going places. He works hard. He enjoys what he does. and uh he is he's going to be a that 45 is going to be nothing in two years. I will tell you that. So, these [clears throat] guys have had a great season. I want to make sure I recognize them. Um some of you may know I uh we had an assembly last week where we had all the fall sports athletes in the gym and we recognize them. And I think that's very important >> that we
recognize um these guys because not only through their schoolwork that allows them to play because they're eligible to do so with the hard work that they're putting in. So um I know they appreciate everybody's uh you know congratulations and so forth and and so do I because uh these guys really do work hard and I see it on a regular basis. So um again senior like Zaden there was 10 of them this We're going to miss those guys, but we got a lot lot of young guys in the sophomore class of Owens that's going to step up next year. And um the schedule's out. I I I was going to say it, but the schedule's out. We're in good shape next year. So, we're playing who we want to play. Um that's all got taken
care of. So, uh that stuff is all good next year. Looking forward to another great season. Um, now we're set for the winter sports like I said with the swim team next year or next uh tomorrow and then they're starting. Boys basketball actually starts Thursday at home. Uh, girls are home next week. Girls won last night. They had their first game, but they'll their first home game is next week. So, lots of stuff going on in the winter time. Make sure to come on up, support all them because they do appreciate it. So, >> all right. Thank you. >> Do when you say the schedule's out, is is Brookco on the schedule? >> Yes. Yes. That's what I was talking about. >> That's what he meant by we're playing who we want to play. >>
There are no doubles. There's no doubles in Brookville's back on the schedule. So, >> excellent. >> Yes. >> Um and congratulations, guys. Um >> great job. >> A fun season to watch. I know our entire community is proud of you. Um I think it's also worth mentioning um the way you carry yourselves off the field. I know many of these players and I they're good people. They're they're good young men. Um so I I think that needs to be noted as well. So >> is that your boy? >> I don't know what you're feeding him. He's going to be a monster by the time he's senior. [laughter] >> You're doing good. >> Yeah. Owen had to take out a couple guys on kickoffs this year and it was it was impressive. He hasn't he's not
afraid to tackle. >> That's awesome. >> Great. Thank you. >> All right. Thank you guys. Thanks guys. Okay, moving on to transportation. We have one item for approval, which is um a new bus, one new bus driver that was on the list. I have a motion to approve that. >> So moved. >> Motion by Doug, seconded by Trevor. All those in favor? >> Motion carries. Um any other questions for Kelly? She's here. >> Okay. Um moving on to buildings and maintenance. Um we have two items for approval. The first is a change order for the kitchen project. Um, and the second is a purchase order for Americanm International for janitorial supplies. Any questions on those items? Seeing none, can I have a motion for approval? >> So move. >> Motion by Dee. >> Seconded by
Cindy. All those in favor. >> Opposed? Seeing none. Motion carries. Um, any [snorts] other items for Carmen? Nothing. Okay. Cafeteria. Uh, no requests. Um, Lindsay is here. I want to thank you, Lindsay, for the dinner that you provided tonight. You and your staff. >> Very good. >> Was very good. >> Uh, we we do appreciate that. So, any questions for Lindsay? >> Okay. Next, uh, federal programs and curriculum. Dr. Gaston, we have three items on the agenda. The first is a renewal agreement with IU3 for interpretive services. The second is for a uh Curious Minds Dive Foundation Moonlight Swim Program. And the third is for some uh purchase orders um for Scholastic Books and uh Riverview Occupational Therapies. Um any questions for Dr. Gaston [snorts] on those items? >> I would like to table the
U Scholastic Inks until we had more time to go through those. >> Yeah, Doug had mentioned this beforehand. I didn't realize there was a list of I I had only seen the first nine things on there. I know there's a number of pages in books. So, I know there was some interest from board members to review these books. So, um Doug would like to table uh item 3A. Uh that's a motion, Doug, >> please. Yes. >> Can I have a second? >> Seconded by Allen. Uh all those in favor with tableabling uh 3A. I >> I >> any opposed? Motion carries. Um so we have one two and 3B. Dr. Gaston, can you tell us uh this Moonlight Swim program? Is that was that the STEM program? I think >> yes. Can you tell us
a little bit about that? >> A little more information. So, thanks to um a connection between Zack Kaine and um the owner of this organization, Larry Clinger, um they selected the district to present an opportunity for essentially a uh scuba program. >> So, Curious Lines Dog Foundation based out of Murray'sville, Pennsylvania, uh was awarded what's called a moonshot grant from the Remake Learning um organization. They're based in Pittsburgh. So essentially what this is is bringing an opportunity to approximately 12 of our high school students to merge a scuba certification with industrybased um career exploration opportunities. So there are five steps to the process. Um they will learn to scuba and confined water sess sessions that will take place in our pool um once the swim season has ended. um that will progress into open water
dives that will take place in those uh in the Gil Gilboa quarry or blue hole quarry once school is out. So that will be you know for the families um decisions to make. There is a steam career exploration component that pairs the students with virtual mentoring and opportunities to learn from engineers, marine scientists, NASA researchers and business leaders. they will engage in some research and fieldwork and we'll have a culminating uh community showcase of their learning and the opportunities. There is no cost to the district. So pretty phenomenal that they >> they found us and um Mr. Gordon and Dr. Smelco >> definitely had a hand in in connecting all of these pieces. Um there will also be a uh an opportunity for um adults in the community as well as six to 12 year
olds 8 to 12 year olds for six week session so that anyone who's interested in in getting those initial certifications will have the opportunity to pay for that um in the evening. So there'll be an information session in January for interested students and then we'll move forward from there for your approval. >> Great. Thank you. >> It's wonderful. Sounds like a wonderful opportunity for students. Um, any other questions for Dr. Gaston on these items? >> It's a great opportunity for other people, too, who want to go get their dive start. If you've never >> scuba dive before, it's >> I haven't either, but I'm signing up. >> It's pretty awesome. Good. Yeah. Good. That's It is awesome. >> Sounds like something. >> And it really opens things up for you go on vacation and places
that instead of snorkeling looking at people at the bottom, you can be at the bottom looking at the people that are snorkeling. It's pretty cool. And there there are a lot of connected um career opportunities that that go beyond diving underwater welders. >> That was the first thing came to my mind. Yeah. >> Quite a quite a salary as well as those connected pieces that that make all the parts. >> Great. Great. >> Thank you. >> Any other questions? Okay. Seeing none, I would ask for approval for items one, two, and 3B on your agenda. Do I have a motion? >> So moved. >> Motion made by Dee. Second by Trevor. All those in favor? >> I >> opposed. Motion carries. Moving on to um item F, superintendent reports. Um we have um approval for
conferences and field trips. We have a agreement with um community county services for one year. Uh item number three is a field placement agreement between Punksy High School and Grand Canyon University. And number four, we have a request from REACT to increase their fees from 150 per event to 500 per event. I know there was some information on that. Susan, do you have any more items on the React request or >> uh No, other than it it said for 2026, but they did have a special request about football for this year, but that wasn't how we had it budgeted for this year. So, I think if we could do it for 2026 and going forward, um, that would be a pretty big unbudgeted change if we do it for the football season that's already occurred.
>> So, it's a $350 increase. >> It's going from 150 to 500. Okay. I was I wasn't when I was reading it, I was like, >> asking [clears throat] for an increase of 150 >> on top of what they get or the other. Okay. Yeah, I >> I think I So, it's only $150. >> It's $150 increase per event. >> Yes, it's $150 increase to 500. >> So, they're paying 350. >> I was just going to say it's good to >> Okay. >> Wasn't there a bump to this last year? Didn't we >> I think the issue last year was that we they didn't send us an invoice for several years. >> Yes, we owed >> Yeah. >> back fees. Do Susan, do you know when the last time we did increase their pay was
or have we ever? >> I'm sorry. I don't I know that that >> Yeah. So that I would like to request a $150 per game or event increase starting for 2026. >> So >> seems like we're paying 350 now and the increase would be to 500. You do you have you don't have any reservations with about the request or you other than just to start it >> other than yeah other than to just start it so we can budget accordingly. >> Okay. >> So let's um any other questions for Dr. Krabacher about items one two and three. >> I had one question. So on the field trips and conferences under field trips um when Mrs. Neper's going out for uh singing at Malberry and holiday performances at the elementary and SSCD. We have I guess
not at Malberry, it's the it's I guess it's just the the SSCD elementary. We have a sub, but when Mr. Cessna takes his group out, we don't have a sub. I was just curious why we have a sub pay for one and not the other. >> So I I checked with Dr. Smelco about that at the request. what it appears to be is a clerical matter. Um when he submitted the conference request or field trip request, he indicated a sub was not needed. So in discussion with her, it appears that Mr. Cessna scheduled this during a time where the majority of the students will actually be with him. >> Okay. >> So make coverage not a sub. But if there is a mistake there, um Dr. Smith is going to correct just because you know
holiday brass is just brass not the whole and >> yes. Okay. Thank you. Any other questions on items one, two, and three? Okay, we'll we'll break these up and then come back to item number four. Uh, can I have a motion to approve items one, two, and three? >> Motion by Cindy. >> Seconded by Dee. All those in favor? >> I >> opposed. Okay, seeing none, motion carries. On item number four, um Susan, you'd like to amend this to have this start? Um, >> the way the request was, it it said for >> to be for 2026. >> Okay. >> I guess we probably could have passed that. >> That's okay. We can [laughter] we can specify we can make sure the motion specifies for 2026. >> Okay. Uh, so motion for this u increase
uh for react to start in the 2026 school year. Can I have a motion? >> Motion by Katie, seconded by Doug. All those in favor? >> I opposed. Motion carries. Moving on to building and elementary reports. Uh or I'm sorry, building principal reports, elementary building. Mr. Gil, >> thank you. Congratulations all those who were reelected and newly elected. Um it's it's a tough job. You all know it. Uh but we appreciate it. We appreciate the time you put into it. Um listen, at the elementary building, we've been doing a lot of good things. I don't if you know Mr. Coons, but he has these great ideas. One of the things we're doing is building a lot of culture, trying to build culture with kids. So things like the conversation card where Mrs. Richardson has a
cart and goes around and talks to kids. We want kids to talk to adults first thing in the morning. We want to have that communication. Uh did did anybody get a chance to see the video cam uh where we asked kids what they were thankful for, put that online. A lot of kids came in and wanted to be be part of that and talk about um those types of things. Those are things that build a lot of culture within our building and and our ideas. Mr. Kun was the spearhead of the these ones. Um, that's the kind of staff we have. I'm very proud of the people that I that I work with and I appreciate them. Um, and and they keep coming up with different things we can do within the building to build
that culture and we're going to continue to grow and continue to do that. Um, it's ways for kids to understand how to interact with adults as well as with other kids when they're all trying to go to get around the camera and, you know, patience and and being timely and and things like that. Um, we had our turkey feather challenge which was uh um a fundraiser for Makea-Wish and Mr. Donald was the winner and uh garnered the most money and had to wear the turkey outfit. >> Oh, nice. So, uh, [laughter] I I appreciate him for indulging us in in that. I wish I would have a picture for you, but I didn't think of that at the time. Sorry. >> Uh, our student lighthouse team has an annual cookies and cocoa community heroes for
EMS police officers, state troopers, and firefighters who serve our district. Um, that will be on December 16th. It'll be in stairwell A. You know, they come and pick up cookies and cocoa and get a card of thanks from um, PAS students. um our coaches, we have coaches in the building and they they put on what they call um pop-up PDs. This is important for our own people, you know, our teachers as well where they can come in and they have things laid out in our conference room of things they can use in the month of December to help them within their classrooms. Um it's just a great thing. It's it's for our people to interact with each other as well and nobody out there knows it all. So you can pick up and when you
steal ideas from other people, it's a great it's a great thing. You know, we collaborate with each other quite a bit. Upcoming events in December, December 9th, PTO uh treelighting event. I believe that's at 5:30. Uh December 11th, Make a Wish is making a visit. December 11th, the band and course concert is at 7:00. And um December 22nd, our spelling be finals will be uh be that day. And of course, we're getting that earlier on the 23rd. Um, I did lay some cards there for you made by students. Wanted to number one, thank you and to wish you a merry Christmas. Um, I I always enjoyed when I get things from students and I I think it's just a nice way to for you to see, you know, the work our students are putting out.
I believe these are kindergarten, first grade. Um, so enjoy. Please enjoy. Any any questions I can answer? Questions for Mr. Hill? Seeing none, thank you. >> Thank you. Taking kisses. >> We'll move on to the high school report. Sheena. >> Hello everybody. Um we have a request um for purchasing the AP exams for our students. Um that is something that we we bring to you every year. It's helps our kiddos out as they get ready to take the AP exam. they don't pay for the fee for that exam. Um, we also have 13 teachers signed up to do Holiday in the Halls. Um, and we we provided you with that list of teachers that we'll be working [snorts] with, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Bmer, and I next week. And we're very excited. This is the first
time that we've we've done something like this. We have various activities set up. We encourage all of you to please come on December 8th um to enjoy what is our first holiday in the halls at the high school. What time is that go? >> Um >> 4 to7. [laughter] >> And um we're asking for some budget transfers as well. Underformational. I'm bringing to you tonight um Mrs. White, our junior and senior counselor, was presented with an opportunity to have our students do a tutoring program through the University of Pennsylvania. And what this program will do is allow our students to become certified tutors and be able to do peer tutoring with other students. Um, through this program, they're working with the University of Pennsylvania. They will get four college credits. There is no cost to
the kids and they would be able to sign up for the courses. They're about an hour and a half once a week. And at the end of that time, they would be getting a certification as a peer tutor. and being able to work with other students um and and help them just help them in general. >> How many tutors? >> I'm sorry, was >> how many students can do this? >> There's no limit >> as my understanding at this point. Um we wanted to bring it to you for theformational piece and get the approval, make sure that everybody was good with that. And then in January, we'll send out that email and get started on seeing which students are interested and would like to participate in that. Not only does it give them that opportunity
to get some college credits, but it also gives them an opportunity to have a certification, then that would help them as they move, like some of our seniors, as they move into college, then hopefully being able to use that that certification as well. Um, I was talking a little bit with the elementary school administration. It looks like it's more middle school, high school, but that might be able to be something that we could use even with our sixth grade. We're going to try to get some more information on that and see if we can make it something that would work here within our district. >> There's no cost to the district. >> No, no cost. >> Are they funding or is it going to be >> It's all online. >> Yep. The kids will participate
in an hour and a half course once a week online. >> That's This is pen >> University of Pennsylvania, >> not Penn State. >> Yeah. and in Philadelphia. Philadelphia. Okay. That's >> not Pennsylvania University. University of Pennsylvania. Yeah. Flip the words around. Um Mrs. White was very excited whenever the opportunity was presented and we we talked about it a couple weeks ago so that I could bring it bring it to everybody. Um something else that we are working on and Mr. Young and I were talking about this earlier today. Um Mrs. Dover Spike and Mrs. Young, Bobby Young from the kindergarten team came to me with an idea a couple weeks ago of having senior kinder buddies where we would work with students that are interested in our senior class and having them pair up
with kindergarten students to do various activities throughout the rest of the year. So, our seniors that are interested would be able to go up to the elementary school and participate in activities with the kids. Um, for instance, in December, they had the idea of having them go up and make some gingerbread houses. Um, helping them, you know, with that tactile that that fine motor skill, building those gingerbread houses. Um, reading to them, having the kids read to the seniors, the seniors read back, things like that. Um then they have a plan the whole way up through May which would be a culminating event with a little graduation um cap decoration for the um for the kindergarters that the seniors would be able to help them with. So as Mr. Gil had mentioned um Mr. Cocoons
kind of started us on this journey of of the cross um building connections and it's starting to take off now where other groups and grade levels and um committees are are like hey but what if we did this with the elementary school and the elementary is like well what if we did that and I think it's just a really great way to bring our campus together as one and get the kids involved our students but the elementary kids and elementary school kids but our our seniors and hopefully some of the juniors and >> that's a great idea. Absolutely. Yep. >> How often would that happen? >> Um we were looking maybe once or twice a month. Nothing um that would take too much away from instructional time whenever they're having some of those like their
Christmas parties or um their Valentine's Day parties. There's an activity where they would make Valentine's with the kids. Um our seniors when we went up at homecoming um I don't know if I told you this story or not. For the new board members, um you maybe haven't heard this. I literally had to go find the kids because the seniors were hiding in the kindergarten rooms uh because they wanted to hang out with the kids, the little kids, and were and they just loved every minute of it. And that was where some of these ideas were like, "Okay, what can we do to get more of that where the kids are working with each other, learning from each other, and giving our high school kids that opportunity to be a positive influence and and a leader
for those younger grades. I think that's it. Last thing, I want to give a shout out to DJ because um he he talked briefly about the assembly that we had last week. Um, we not only DJ, not only made sure that all of the student athletes were recognized, we recognized our students going to district band competition, we hyped up the upcoming swim season. Um, and it was it was nice because it was a buildingwide celebration of all the cool things that our kids are doing and celebrating all of them. And if I remember correctly, our eligibility rate in the fall was phenomenal. I don't know if we had anyone that was not >> maybe >> here or there. So for all of our student athletes to be eligible throughout the entire fall season is also
I think a big accomplishment. And again, that's going back the athletic department and DJ making sure he's meeting with kids, talking to them about their grades, talking to teachers, talking to counselors, and and his new role. I think that's that's something to celebrate, too. >> Absolutely. Thank you very much. >> Just give that little shout out as well. >> Thank you. >> Any questions for Sheena? Cena, the the tutoring program that they're going to have and they're going to be doing with the students in in the school, does this carry over to whenever they go into college? >> Would this be a certification that they would have that they could actually tutor in college or is that something that's a little bit more >> I I believe that would probably be dependent on what colleges
they would choose to go to, but they will receive a certification. >> They will receive the certification. So you you don't know if that's would carry over to whenever they go to college that they could be a certified tutor. >> I can find out for sure, but my understanding was that yes, that certification would then let them, >> you know, have that credential that they could present. >> If that could carry over, that would be that would be >> really good for a lot of kids. >> Absolutely. So, if they go to a school and they are in need of tutors and on like a student work program, um that could be a really good opportunity for our students. Definitely. >> What grades will that be open to? Just seniors or >> Yes, right now.
For right now, um maybe some juniors as well, but I think the plan is to start with seniors. >> Would is is the intent to have these folks help kids in our buildings also? >> Possibly. Okay. Yes. Yep. And I can give you an update in January as well. By that point, hopefully we'll know how many kids are interested and be able to well that we be able to work with the elementary school and provide tutoring there um and give you a little bit more more information once we get it out to the kids. >> Sounds great. >> Yeah, definitely. If there's a way for them I heard different people asking about tutors in the elementary school. So if there's a way for them to >> yes >> work that in I I think there's
a need there. So >> yeah and something else we're looking at our future educators club has started going up to the elementary school as well and working with the students and we're exploring is that also a possibility for some additional tutoring. >> How many people do we have in that club? >> I'm sorry. >> How many people were in that club? Future educator. I would have to check. Um, >> spitball just >> I want to say 10 to 15 students. >> Nice. >> That's very good. >> I'd have to double check the the the roster, but yeah. >> Is that on top of the Americanore students or >> Yes. So, our Americanore >> in addition to >> Yes. In addition to our Americanore students are going up daily through the employment program, we have the
future educator club students going up. They went up on the early dismissal day to do some activities with the students while they were getting ready for break. >> One other thing I wanted to point out, I don't know if these correspond, but that scuba opportunity that she had mentioned, I don't know if there's an opportunity there for the future first responders club. Uh I know there's a scuba diving component for, you know, that the fire companies do a lot of times. So, if there's a way to, you know, have them partner, I don't know. But >> the presentation for that, um, the light bulbs were going off above all of our heads as we were listening to all of the different things about the possibilities that are available for our students outside of the scuba
certification, but career pathways and industry certifications and all those things. So, it's a a great opportunity to get started with and then hopefully be able to expand that and make it something bigger. Thank you. >> Yeah, thank you. >> Okay, oh, go ahead, Cindy. >> I'm totally in favor of it because we always talk about things coming up that we didn't budget for. Um, where's the money for the employees for the holiday in the halls coming from >> title one? Our parent family engagement plan. Okay. >> At the high school setting. >> Okay. I know Sheena had mentioned these, but we have items one, two, and three on our agenda. Can I have a motion to approve those items? >> Motion by Cindy. >> Seconded by Dee. All those in favor? >> Opposed? >> None.
Motion carries. Uh we'll move on to the financial report with Mrs. Rob Robertson. [laughter] It's Simon and Garfuncle song. OH [laughter] YEAH. WELL, I I was looking at Did I say Robinson? Okay. Sorry. I'll do better. >> That's now that's in my head. >> Okay. [laughter] >> So, um items we have one was a financial summary and board report. Uh two is the occupation tax exoneration request. Uh three is budget transfers um for two items there. Number four is a joint purchasing agreement with Midwestern Intermediate Unit 4. And five is a request for from Puny Burough for a tax forgiveness on a parcel of land that they purchased. Any questions for Susan on any of those items? >> Um, number five, the the tax forgiveness. So if I read this right, my understanding was that
the tax that they somebody's forgiving it from for 26 on >> the assessment office. Yes. They applied for tax exemption through the assessment office because it's municipal property. No. >> Okay. >> And they can only do when you file your appeal in this fall. It's not until 2026. So, they're asking the board to exonerate them for this 2025 since they did buy the property this year. They've had the property this year. They just didn't get their appeal in in time for 25, but only for 26. >> Okay. And so, what's your recommendation on that? >> We've done this in the path because it's another municipal government. Um, we've asked them for things along the way here and there, too. So, it's not a huge amount. So they won't be asking again in 26 because that's
okay. That's what I wasn't that's where I wasn't like clear on what that was. Thank you. >> Thank you for clarification, Susan. Um any other questions. >> I have a motion to approve items one through five. >> Motion by Trevor, seconded by Cindy. All those in favor? >> I opposed. Motion carries. Uh we have twoformational items from Susan uh relating to the the state budget and a resolution to not raise property tax. >> Yeah. At the table tonight, you would have had um >> a paper from me that says the Commonwealth APA budget to the PASD budget. I just wanted to show I know that they since they finally passed their budget, I wanted to show you how that compared to what we had budgeted. So, in our two major funding sources, basic ed funding
and special education funding, it netted out to us getting an extra $7,141 from what we anticipated getting from from the Commonwealth as to what we are getting from the Commonwealth. However, in one of the state grants, the ready tolearn grant, um we'll be getting an additional 371,000 over what we had budgeted. Um we had to wait to see if we were going to get all of that. Once we pay all of our kindergarten expenses, that gives us um an additional $632,92 to use this year, but it is restricted use. Um I attached for you some of the different programs that it can be used for. I know Dr. Krabacher and Dr. GAP and have have talked through this and and um looked at these funds to see what's the best way we can use those
um so that we can maximize their use and maybe use them for some things that we can open up some of the general funds for other things. Um and then down at the bottom I showed you that last year we did get a cyber charter funding of 238,000 and we will not be getting that this year. So we're down that 238,000 there. So that just wanted to give you the comparison and those following pages are what those funds can be used for. >> Okay. So if we're not getting What do you mean we're not getting chart or cyber funding? >> They didn't approve it in the Commonwealth budget. >> Last year was the first year we've gotten it in a long time. We got it last year. They called it transition funding >> as they
were trying to change the formula for uh tuition, right? >> Um and but they didn't put it in again this year. So that >> $240,000 roughly comes out of our budget. >> Yeah. It's funds we didn't get this year. Yeah. So we'll be spending general fund to cover those cyber costs. >> You didn't budget for it. >> I didn't budget for it because I I I didn't think we would get it again. >> Yeah. So, I mean, it's not >> and and you'll notice on page three in that packet um at the top there, one of the uses that we can use that acceptable uses for ready to learn funds is for increases in uh charter school tuition costs. So one of the acceptable uses would be to cover the money that we weren't given
this budget year as well as the increases that um which you know it fluctuates but we did have some increase over last year's overall expenditure as well. So that would count as well. So um we would be covered in that area. I also see after school and remediation programs are on there which may have our club issue. We may be able to fund our after school clubs out of that. And I also see summer learning programs. I know in the past there were, you know, we had um our kinder camp had went from 2 weeks to one week and there was some interest in maybe >> it went to 3 days. I think >> yeah doing some more with that. So I don't know. Um I anticipate at some point you guys will have recommendations
for us on that. And so there was some uh stuff with the cyber charter funding at the state level that that that doesn't affect our budget at all. >> I haven't I I haven't seen where it's going to other than they are working on the formula for how you calculate >> payments >> the pay the every school district every school district pays a different tuition rate based on our budgeted expenses not our actual expenses. expenses. >> Um, and then they have included some new deductions from those expenses, but nothing that's having a huge impact on us right now that we're seeing. >> Okay. So, we may see some savings, but nothing significant. >> Nothing significant. Plus, we've had an increase in enrollment. So, >> I think it prioritizes like the acceptable use of these funds,
but how do we place precedents? How do we know what staff or student need is? Like do we give them this list and go rank them one through? >> No, that would be Dr. Gassin and Dr. >> So you guys just go down. >> We're looking at this is some of our you know uh comp plan discussions, some of our um goal setting and looking at where we see some of the areas that need priority attention and um you know what we need to put in place to be able to hit the gains that we're looking at. Yeah, obviously you already have a good idea of what what what our needs are before you even get the list, but >> and it's important to, you know, we we don't want to >> um you know,
we we need to make sure that we um we don't want to, you know, develop things with the reoccurring costs. So, we have this money now, we may not have it later. So, just being careful that when you're introducing programs, you can maintain them. >> And um you know, so those are some of the considerations we have in there, too. This list is actually a little more broad than I figured it would be. >> Yeah, I was I was surprised. That's why I wondered how you narrow it down as to where you're going to have the greatest impact but be able to continue it through. So, >> get your uh throw your suggestions in now like I just did. So, okay. Um Okay, thank you Susan for that. Any other questions for Susan? >> Okay,
moving on to personnel. Um, we have two items on here. We have uh additions and deletions to our professional and support substitute list. And we have three resignations, Cassie Manili, Haley Kennedy, and Maline Martino. I have a motion for approval of those two items. >> So moved. >> Motion by Dee. >> Seconded by Trevor. All those in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? Motion carries. Um, we're going to move on now to the reports of the special committees. Uh the Jefftech school report. Doug, you want to give us? >> We are meeting day after tomorrow. >> Okay. [snorts] >> And there was no meeting in November. >> No meeting for >> I6. >> IU6. Okay. Any comm communications the district. Uh seeing none, we'll move on to payment of bills. Uh we need approval for
the general fund, the cafeteria fund as presented and uh construction projects. Um, when is the final payment for Renick Brothers there for the HBAC? Any questions on that? >> Are they? >> Oh, the HVAC. Nothing. No, never mind. I was thinking of something else. >> Okay. Can I have a motion to approve items one through three? >> Motion by Cindy, seconded by Dee. All those in favor? >> I opposed. >> Motion carries. Moving on to new business. Any new business? None. Just uh comments I have. Uh thank you guys for your support um for me to be president. I want to welcome our two new board members uh Heather Searing Kunelman and Alan Nickel. Um I'm familiar with both you guys' backgrounds and I think you guys both uh it's fair to say you bring
a lot to the table. So I want to welcome you. Um congratulate everyone else who was elected uh in this year's election. um to the new people. We've we've had a great board. Um we don't always agree on everything, but we do disagree respectfully. So, I hope that uh continues and knowing your character, I don't uh anticipate that be an is an issue. Um thank you to all our administrators uh who are here and answer our questions. Thank you to Larry uh for coming and covering our meetings. >> Wake up. [laughter] Wake up. what we say now don't come anymore. >> Wow. >> It wouldn't be it wouldn't be interesting without you. >> No, I don't know what we do without you, Larry. >> So, um you know, just to summarize what what Matt uh
left off with when he left, you know, we have a great a great team here at this uh head table. I'll take myself out of that. But, uh you know, Susan does a wonderful job. We have two new administrators here that um I think the board finds comfort in in their abilities and what they've doing they've been doing. So um that's all I have. Any other uh parting shots or parting comments from anybody? >> Where do these need to be? >> I need those. >> Okay. Thoughts on motion one. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Um for a German. Okay. Can I have a motion for a German? >> Motion by Cindy. Seconded by Dee. All those in favor? I >> motion carries. Meeting over. Hey, whatever.
