001for all. >> Thank you everyone. Again, I'd like to welcome everyone that's with us this evening. And if we could have roll call, please. >> Yes. >> Norm >> here. >> Robert Clark >> here. >> Janet Jun >> here. >> John Gazitski >> here. >> Denise Holley >> here. >> J Kresky >> present. >> Ryan O'Keefe. >> Diane Surface >> present. >> And Matthew Walters >> here. Thank you. I would like to let everyone know that we did have an executive session this evening, January the 22nd of 2026, immediately prior to the regularly scheduled meeting for purposes of personnel matters, but not limited to performance and or discipline negotiations and legal issues. Uh also we will be going back into executive session at the conclusion of this meeting. Uh first item on the agenda this
002evening is uh something that we discussed at our working session uh at the beginning of the month and that is a resolution for the PSBA principles of governance and leadership. Um again we did discuss this um back in um at our working session and actually this is something that we are reaffirming. We are readopting this. We have already adopted this previously. So, we're just with having new board members um just reaffirming our uh adoption of the principles for governor governance and leadership. So, if I could have a motion to approve this, I would appreciate it. So, >> move second. >> Okay. I have a motion by Mr. Burgerer, seconded by Mr. Walters. Is there any discussion? All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> Anyone opposed? And that motion carries. Um,
003Miss Gman, how are you this evening? >> Welcome. >> Thank you. Good evening. I'd like to share a few updates from the student body. Recently, the H hallway, our science hallway, officially reopened after winter break. And the newly renovated classrooms look really nice, and the furniture is way more comfortable, especially the new chairs. We got new furniture in the library, and everyone really likes it, especially the new couches we got. It's a big hit. Um, students and teachers are excited to finally use this updated space and it's already making the building feel more open and modern. The JCM bathroom was also renovated and students have definitely noticed the improvement. It looks much cleaner and updated, which makes that area of the school feel a lot better overall. I also want to highlight something happening in
004our school community. The Cultural Diversity Club is hosting its 7th annual Black History Month door decorating contest. The event brings a lot of creativity and school spirit and many classes are already getting involved. Another positive thing is the two additional staircases opening. Students are getting to their classes way faster, passing time, and the hallways are less crowded. That's all. Thank you. >> Well, thank you. if you could convey from us to the student body that we appreciate their patience through all this and the fact that they are uh enjoying seeing the new upgrades. I would appreciate that. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> All right, Dr. Conrad. >> Okay. Uh good evening everyone. So, I'm not sure if you're aware, but uh this month is uh school board director recognition month. And uh I just
005want to take a minute to pause and really thank our school board directors. Um obviously, you know, they're here. They're committed to our community, to our district, and we've seen just a lot of growth and progress occur over the years. Um and I just wanted to thank you for your courage in making um you know, difficult decisions. I I I would say that over the past few months especially, we've had some really good discussions um about all encompassing all different perspectives, and it's just been nice to have that dialogue. uh and communication because it really does take all of us uh to move our district forward. So, I just want to thank you for all the uh tireless work that you do and your unwavering commitment to Pleasant Valley School District uh students, staff, and
006community. Um we really are a better district with all of your dedication. I also wanted to take an opportunity to read a um uh proclamation from uh Pennsylvania School Board Association. So for school director recognition month January 2026 whereas the role of locally elected school officials has served the uh commonwealth of Pennsylvania and local communities in meeting the needs of public education since the passage of the free school act in 1834. And whereas these local boards have uh discharged their responsibilities to the public education in a manner which has placed public education in the forefront of our educational system. And whereas locally elected officials have distinguished themselves and their communities in this non-paid volunteer public service commitment. And whereas the contributions of these men and women should be recognized and appreciated by those who benefit
007from the workings from our public school system. Now therefore, be it resolved that the board of directors of the Pennsylvania School Board Association hereby proclaims that the month of January as school director recognition month in this commonwealth and further resolve that this proclamation be communicated to all school districts, school officials, and local communities in a plan program which provides uh and brings visibility and awareness of the role of locally elected school officials to the citizenry of the Common. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania want to thank you personally. I do have um a certificate I want to personally come around and thank you for. So sorry that my back is towards you but >> just like this Thank you. >> Thank you for >> Yan's not here. >> You got that right. [laughter] Okay. >> All right. So,
008uh, moving on to, uh, next business. I did, uh, want to take an opportunity to actually share a video from our elementary school. So, Mr. Van Boris, if you could hit it, we'd love to see it. >> [music] >> 2 4 6 8 Who do we appreciate [music] you? We think it's you. [music] 2 4 6 8 Who's the one we think is great? You. We think it's [music] you. We think you're dandy. We think you're better [music] than sugar candy. We think you're cop a sunshine [music] on a summer day out of super duper dynamite. [music] You Hey. Hey. [music] Hey. Hey. [music] >> [music] >> 2 4 6 8 Who do we appreciate you? [music] We think it's you. 2 4 6 8 Who's the one we think is great you? We think
009it's you. 2 [music] 4 6 8 Who do we appreciate you? We think it's you. 2 4 6 8 [music] we think you [screaming] >> Mrs. >> Mr. >> Thank you again to our school >> Mrs. >> Mr. Guner >> Mr. Burger, >> Mr. Waters, >> Mr. [laughter] [clears throat] All right, moving on. >> Oh, Becca, sorry. Good evening. Tonight, I am requesting approval of the minutes of the meeting held on December 4th, 2025 and approval of the January 22nd, 2026 board meeting agenda, including the following change. Change item 15B3 to read as follows. Boundless federal funding to assist with the federal program application process for fund years 2026 through 2030. cost category 2 base fee of 2,000 plus 4% I'm sorry 5% of the discounted amount requested on the form 471 >> so moved
010>> second >> I have a motion by Mr. Kazyski and you're pointing that way seconded by Mrs. Hopefully. Is there any discussion? >> What? >> Just Just for clarification, it is 5%. >> Okay. All right. All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> Anyone opposed? >> And that motion carries. Um, Pleasant Valley citizens, is there anyone that would like to address the board this evening on agenda items only at this first session? If so, please come to the podium. State your name and the township you reside in. And there is a threeminut limit. Okay. Seeing no one approach the podium, we're going to move on in our agenda. Um treasures report. Mrs. Surface, please. >> Yes. Good evening. Tonight, I'd like to a motion to move item 4 A through N. A isformational
011only. >> So move second. >> A motion by uh Mr. Burgerer, seconded by Mr. Gazyski. Is there any discussion hearing of none? All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> Anyone opposed? Um, I do need to abstain uh from check number 245952 relative. Okay, let's see where I'm at here. Uh, unfinished business, Mr. Fitzgerald. >> Sure. Good evening, everybody. Um just briefly, um it's remarkable that when you have a budget on time in July, that means you have a school code on time and we have the whole summer to kind of figure out what changes to the school code are actually taking place. But, you know, when you have a November approval of a budget and the holidays are right thereafter, nobody actually starts looking at the changes to the school
012code. But there were a couple notable ones that um districts are working through and I know that Pleasant Valley is as well. Um there's new notification requirements if there are weapons on campus where there's an incident involving weaponry. Um that requires notification then in the building in which um that event occurs. There's been a lot of debate among schools as to what actually triggers the the notification and and districts are working through that right now. The other noteworthy area and it's I I don't think it's exactly where we want to be but it's it's a step and that is with regard to increased scrutiny of residency requirements for kids who are in cyber charter schools. Um which has been an issue here out of concerns of students not being residents of Pleasant Valley, but we're
013getting build for their attendance in cyber charter schools. Um, some of the new changes require parents on a a twice a year basis in November and March to essentially affirm that they remain residents of the district in question. The problem is I I think it's still a bit of a a lipstick on a pig because I'm not so sure there's any enforcement mechanism to it. Um, it looks nice. It makes us feel good about it, but at the end of the day, I think it's just still the burden remains on school districts to determine if if these children are residents or not, and and nothing is really placed on the cyers. So anyway, it's a start, but that's where we're at with some of the new changes. >> Okay. Thank you. Is there anyone else
014that has any other unfinished business? >> Okay, moving on to new business. Monro Career and Technical Institute. Mrs. Surface. >> Yes. Good evening. There was no meeting for the month of January at MCTI, but [clears throat] I would like to let the public know that we have 32 Pleasant Valley students that will be competing on February 4th at the skills competition down in a hall in Allentown. Good luck to all of our students. The next meeting is February 2nd. >> Thank you. Anything for Mrs. Surface? >> Okay, moving on to Col Colonial IU. Mr. Clark. >> Uh the minutes are attached. Uh my next meeting is next Wednesday hopefully. [laughter] I don't know with weather, but maybe. But um other than that, the meeting's attached. >> Anything for Colonial IU? Okay. Moving on to PSBA
015liaison. Mrs. Hopeley. >> Oh, good evening. No, >> good evening. Um PSBA leaison. The summary is that there are three Senate bills. Senate Bill 1014, a bell-to-bell cell phone ban with a vote scheduling in Harrisburg January 26. Senate Bill 116 allows students to earn two credits towards graduation. And then there's a Senate bill 974 expands the credit innovation grant. And January is board appreciation month. In addition to 47, Act 47 adds 10 additional hours for training for school professionals and new directors had five hours of training and is currently underway. Current board members have one-hour training to complete in PSBA also. And act 44 introduces a new weapons notification. Lastly, there was a state announcement um at the farm show that 600,3 Jesus 6 thou 600,345 in new funding for agriculture and youth grants. [snorts]
016>> Okay. Any questions? >> All right. Moving on to education report. Um we did have a very robust lengthy education um at our working session in January. Um we had a number of teachers here um to review the science review that we were going through and we had teachers from um no one from PBE but from um PVI the middle school and the high school. Uh Laura Ammerman um did her group very well. She explained uh the process and about going through the review. Um she was very detail oriented and um on the agenda this evening uh there is the new resource that is being recommended for approval um which is twigs. So we are hoping that that will pass this evening. Uh we did have an ELA review um and as um Mr. Fitzgerald
017just mentioned the the new school code. Um there are new uh legislative mandates uh with act 135 and 47 and some of them not so nice as as Mrs. Hopley just mentioned. The fact that our teachers have to endure some additional training um which where do we fit that into the schedule is is the ultimate question for all of us. Um, Miss Fiero also talked about the family room, uh, which, uh, again helps our families support their learners. Um, it is available by going through Clevver. It's a digital library. Um, and this they can use the students ed login to get to that place. I think I explained that properly. Okay. Um, PVE also uh provided us with their month with their highlights from the beginning of the year which was absolutely fantastic. And I
018really, you know, I could give you a lot of detail of each one that he went through, but it I think you should go on the recorded meeting from our work session to see it. Um, but one thing I have to give Mr. Pompel and Mi and Mrs. Adams kudos on is parent teacher conferences. There were 884 students in PVE and they wanted 100% participation in conferences. He came up at 99%. He had 875 parent teacher conferences in that building. So kudos to them, kudos to the staff. That that was just phenomenal in my mind. Just absolutely phenomenal. The other thing I have to also tell you about because I know we we discussed NWA and the cost that that was when we purchased that um program, but he explained to us about the MAP
019map fluency and the fact that he can go on his computer in his office and listen to every student in that building read. And so he then can go down to the classroom and say to the teacher, you know, I heard this student read or I heard that student read. So it's just wonderful technology that that is available and I think it'll take us um really well do us really well, you know. So I I kudos to those things. Again, I could go on about his highlights because they were amazing. We also had an American 250 uh update from Mrs. fields as to what has been happening in our buildings and again what will be happening in our buildings. So I appreciate that update also. Uh sorry for the lengthy report but again um moving
020on finance Mrs. Surface. >> Yes. Good evening. Uh the finance reports will be called for later on in the agenda under item 14 and 15. >> Um athletic report. Mr. O'Keefe. I do not see anything that's been submitted. Um, Mr. O'Keefe is out of the country um, working. Um, Mrs. Duner, policy report. Um, sorry, >> I just attached briefly that there are four policies on the first reading and Dr. Conrad, they are under the superintendent report as there there's an expansion of those four new four not new policies but first reading on those policies. >> Thank you. Capital improvement, Mr. Burgerer. Thank you. Um we had a capital improvements uh meeting today. Um renovation of the high school continues both interior plus on the additions of the administration cafeteria and mechanical areas. And um um
021those three areas will continue through August of 26. Uh as many of you have noticed the old auditorium is being taken down. The work on that is progressing well. Uh we uh we u continued our discussions on the areas that had been already completed about issues and concerns u of things like doors etc locks and those issues are slowly being resolved and we're on a good path for to complete all of that uh we are working on the intermediate intermediate school uh chiller project which we expect to have uh coming up this summer. Um the award of the contract is on our agenda tonight. Um uh work is in progress to get uh additional grants for upcoming facility improvements. Um the next area to be completed um as far as being available for people to
022move into is the new administration area [clears throat] administration area where drywall is currently being installed. looking forward uh our our PVE and new furniture will be arriving this summer and our next capital improvements meeting is scheduled for February 26. Thank you. >> Thank you. Lots going on, lots happening. Uh security Mr. Walters. >> No, no new information. >> I'm first. >> Oh, I missed you. Sorry. >> I'm I'm quick anyway. The report is attached. Okay, >> I just want to say commend um technology team. I know they're juggling a lot of hats as technology dealing with the day-to-day operations as well as the construction operations as well. So, kudos to them, but they there's some great stuff going on. If you take some time, take a look at the report. [laughter] >> Sorry, Mr.
023[clears throat] Susan's advisory committee. >> Yes, thank you. Um attached are the minutes from the last two meetings. The December one was about the fid days and the uh January was about cell phone usage. So if anyone you know wants information about that, please look at those. They're also on the web page. Um for February's meeting, we were looking for a topic. If there's any of our board members that have anything in mind right now, please let me know right now so we can discuss that >> Right now. Mr. Walters, you weren't here last time. So >> yeah, I guess [laughter] you might. Otherwise, we won't have these are topics that we're interested in having them look at. >> Yeah, kind of. >> Well, with that, then there will be no February meeting and we'll
024look for a topic for March then. Thank you very much. >> A lot. >> Yeah. >> All right. Thank you, John. Uh, Dr. Conrad, superintendent reports, please. >> All right. Tonight I'm seeking approval for items 7B and item 7 C and item 7D areformational. >> So moved. >> Second. >> I have a motion by Mr. Kazinski and second Did somebody just sneeze? Bless you. I thought I heard a sneeze. And seconded by Mr. Walters. Is there any discussion? All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> Anyone opposed? And that motion carries. >> Okay. Item eight, human resources. Mrs. Fulmer. >> Yes. Good evening. Uh, tonight I'm seeking approval of items 8B through 8J. Items 8 K through 8N areformational move. >> Second. Oh, go ahead. >> Well, I have a motion
025by Mr. uh, Walters and seconded by Mr. Burgerer. Is there any discussion? >> Uh, just just to get a clarification on the U 8F supplement contract number two under the National Honor Society. um that that uh actual stipen is going to be split between those two individuals. Correct. >> That is correct. And you see the corrected stipen there because it had previously been approved, it was the incorrect total amount, but it will be split between those two individuals. >> Right. And once again, this is something that's brought up every year. So, if there's a professional staff that should have put in for it, they could have, but because there isn't, we can't let this program go without someone. So, our administration stood up and took that position. So, our kids could have We post it
026every year in hopes of finding somebody in our professional staff to advise. >> But the idea is not to let our kids down. Keep them. Thank you very much. Appreciate it. >> Welcome. >> Anyone else? All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> Anyone opposed? And that motion carries. >> Also, I'm seeking approval of items 8B through 8, I'm sorry, 9B through 9. >> Second. I have a motion by Mr. Burgerer, seconded by [snorts] Mr. Gaziski. Is there any discussion hearing? None. All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> Anyone opposed? And that motion carries. >> Moving on to curriculum, Dr. Ray Howard. >> Yes. Good evening. Tonight, I am seeking approval of items 10B, 10 C, and 11A. >> Second. >> I have a motion by
027Mr. Walder, seconded by Mrs. Surface. Is there any discussion? just underneath the program of study um in the one section it stated that they has to be around 10 or less they would be they could be >> may is the word >> so to speak and but the idea is based on um the need for those students and stuff like that correct >> yeah that it's something we've done every year but this year we just put it in the program of studies we look at every class um we will run some that don't have 10 um it depends if it's a new course if it's a remediation course um and then we look at teacher schedule. If we have the availability to put on a teacher schedule, we will most likely run the course. >>
028Thank you. >> Yep. >> Anyone else? All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> Anyone opposed? And that motion carries. >> I'm also seeking approval of item 12A. >> Second. >> Motion by Mr. Clark and seconded by Mr. Walters. That's the operations report. >> Okay. I thought you [laughter] >> gave my numbers. >> Any discussion? All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> Anyone opposed? And that motion carries. >> Moving on to uh building reports. They are attached. And uh definitely if you have an opportunity, please uh read what is happening in each of the buildings. Some really exciting uh pro- studentent uh activities. So, it's just really exciting to see uh just the great things happening in each of the buildings. But just uh take some
029time and take a look at it. So, thank you. Moving on then to um business management. Uh Mrs. Tammy SM. >> Good evening. Tonight, I'm requesting approval of items 14B through 140. Items 14P through 14R areformational. >> Some moved. >> Second. >> Have a motion by business surface, seconded by Mr. Clark. Is there any discussion? just uh 14C the twigs um science program uh might agree what Mrs. Craig just said. It was nice having those teachers stand up and come to us and you know explain how this is going to benefit our children and our students and uh help them to move forward and I think that was great. I I really like hearing from the faculty like that and such support for that. I thank them for that. Um the other question I have
030though is uh 14G I've discussed about the stool the stools for the if you could reiterate on that please. >> Sure. Um we purchased new furniture for the section that just opened at the high school which is the science rooms and part of JCM. Um and when I visited the classrooms uh we ordered all the desks the lab tables really but in some of the science rooms there are especially the chemistry ones there's like lab stations. We did not order the stools for that. So, we put the order in so that when they're doing a lab, they have a stool back there and if they need to sit down, work on a lab report and such. >> Okay. Thank you. And one other question on uh 14 L, I guess it was the district's getting
031paid for that recycling, correct? That would be Mr. Bor is that that was your um so we are receiving a fee and then they're taking that stuff away from Thank you very much. Y >> um I just want to make a statement about item E, the property tax rebate program. This will benefit our senior citizens. The state has increased the income guidelines as well as their rebate. And this aligns us with the state of Pennsylvania. >> Anyone else? All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> Anyone opposed? >> And that motion carries. >> I am also requesting approval of items 15B and 15 C. >> So move second. >> Motion by Mr. Burger, seconded by Mr. Kazyski. Is there any discussion? >> Um, I have a question just for clarification on
03215B 2 contract. >> Okay. Um, just making sure to clarify that what we're paying for with the schools and the amount. >> That's the DS education, correct? Mrs. Yes. Thanks. >> The DS education one, Mrs. hopefully. Yes. >> Thank you. >> So, that's the program that the students will use to create videos for the scoreboard. Um the one that's on the field and the two new ones that are projected to be put in the gymnasium >> and is the next one is this one. Who is teaching these that the kids are going to be working with them? >> The scoreboard will be Mr. Craig Morris >> and the scoreboard will be Dr. Lindsay. And the students are working with both those teachers. >> These are courses during the school day >> and they co-e or
033separately. >> There's these are two totally separate parts separate parts of it. >> Okay. So that's the software licenses for those and it's either three or more schools. >> Nope. >> Well, the the um DS education are are the scoreboards, but it's also the marquees. That's it. Yeah. Thank you. Yep. >> Anyone else? All those in favor, please signify by saying I. I. >> Anyone opposed? And that motion carries. Mr. Fitzgerald. >> Uh, nothing further this evening. >> Okay. Thank you. Uh, Pleasant Valley citizens, is there anyone that would like to address the board this evening on any subject? Please come again. Come to the podium, state your name, township you reside in, and there is a threeminut limit. This won't take very long. My name is Rain Surface from LG Township. Uh it was
034brought to my attention. Uh I'm just curious uh about the co-ed bathrooms that are being built or remodeled by the cafeteria. I thought we had a men's room and a lady's room. I was told by a few people that you guys are creating a co-ed bathroom. If you guys could talk about see if that's true or not. >> Yeah. At the end. All right. We'll do it at the end. Anyone else at this time? >> Okay. Pleasant Valley school directors. Is there anyone this evening? >> Sure. [laughter] Would you go ahead? Well, but my my topic that I I'd like us to put on for a working session is I'll bring a letter u asking for the Pleasant Valley Marching Band to participate in the 250th celebration at the West End Fairgrounds um which will
035go on from the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of July. they were their participation would be on the opening day the 2nd of July and I'll bring a letter to that effect um at our working session in February. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Anyone else? >> Sure. >> Um yeah, I read the builder reports, Dr. Conrad, and uh there's a lot of good stuff in there. Um I'm interested to see the PV Second Grade Wax Museum. I saw that before. And if you haven't, people need to get out there and see this. It's really It's really neat. It's coming up. Uh the PVA the PVI duct tape challenge. >> I didn't know why Mr. Conra or Dr. Conrad wasn't part of that. I mean, [laughter] that would have been uh >> yes, >> you know,
036because No, I won't get into that. But anyway, that was an interesting job. I offered a few uh fun suggestions that if they um are working towards uh you know some sort of reward uh not including shaving my head but I did suggest a few uh fun participate in that [laughter] >> maybe slimeing things like that. So yeah I gave them a couple couple ideas but I'm I'm really happy that some of our staff have stepped up and >> that was good. And our PV band at Marywood I heard that was quite a quite a nice standing. I'm glad they got out there and our high school. I did see the plow. I don't know if anyone else did out at the It was at Pendot. I saw it out there. I didn't see it
037at our place, but I saw it at PennOT. >> And um Dr. Forest, your cyber number students participate in after school activities. Do you have a chance? I thought I asked it once before if you have a number of them because I thought I saw some of yours at a girl that was playing basketball and I was impressed that you know they are coming out and doing those type of things and I'd like to see I know they're cyber school because of reasons but it's nice to see them participating. >> Yeah, absolutely. Uh we I do not have the exact numbers so I do not want to be giving any misinformation but we absolutely have students participating in athletics. You will also see excuse me [clears throat] PVBA students participating at the skills competition for
038MCTI. Um, so they are definitely coming out. They're still participating and it's great to see. I agree. >> Yeah, it's it's good seeing that bringing us all together. Um, also I just want to make a comment. Today we had our second cyber uh committee meeting. Thank you for um being involved in that. And I don't want to elaborate. I'm sure if I turn it to Dr. Conrad, we'll he'll go on about it. But, [laughter] uh, the big thing that I think one of our things we we need to make this a community thing and I know I brought this up there and I'm sure people are going to hear it through the vines, but yes, I did say that we really do need to have the professional staff um, besides those people are great that
039are here with the committee, but the officers of the union and stuff like that should be someone should be present to help us because we don't want to set something up and we all want the we all want this cyber school to come here, but we have to know what is going to be the limits that's going to be put on professionally wise as far as stipens and stuff like that because I hate for us to go through all this work all these people putting all this time and then say well we can't afford it. So I I just want to put that out there that is you know if we can have those people you know be involved and help that would be appreciated. So I don't know how we do that. Thank you.
040>> Thank you. Um just have a few I just have a few questions. So um Dr. Conrad could you just tell Mr. Pompeicello for appreciating the good news that he's advising about the dates we can go and help or participate for um for us. I mean it's really nice to be able to celebrate with them but he provided a list of good news availability dates. Thank you. >> That's great. I'm I'm glad that uh you know we have interested parties you know our board members that want to participate. So it's wonderful to see uh you all at those events. So yeah great. Um, okay. And then, um, I have another one, a real quick one. So, for the law that went through for cyber schools with budgeting, are we doing anything marketing wise maybe to
041capture some of those kids who may be leaving cyber schools, coming back brick and mortar? Just throwing it out there. Okay. And then um going back to another one, so the bathrooms by the cafeteria, so they're having monitors by the window, but is there consideration for monitors after school or are they going to lock them? >> It's a great question. Um I think >> Oh, he left. I was just looking [laughter] for Mr. >> Our bathrooms are usually locked. >> Yeah, the all gender cafeteria one. >> Yeah. But aren't they locked? individual. We We can have those locked. The individual will use bathrooms. >> No, no. I mean the door to those bathrooms. I don't think there's a door. >> There are no doors on those bathrooms. >> Isn't there a door? Isn't there an
042entryway that they go through? >> There is an entryway, but I do not believe there's a door. >> That's what I thought. Um cuz after hours there's really nobody there monitoring. >> We can lock the bath the individual doors though. >> It's still a concern. The idea obviously is is um you know accessibility in close proximity to the cafeteria, but I I would envision that at the end of the day that that area would be locked and secured because it shouldn't be used. Um obviously when it's in use that's when it can be functioning and then that would then mean that you know groups coming after school. There's clearly you know uh boys men's room, women's room, you know use what you need and and that's it. So >> we are uh with the new
043project that area will be closed off and we've worked with the architects on the sections of the building on the JCM side of the building. We are putting a uh room that's um the old art room that you would probably remember where Miss Negro was and it's going to be like our clubs and activities room and we're outfitting that so clubs can meet up there. So, they're going to be isolated to the JCM side and we're able to pull the gates down. >> And if they rent the cafeteria out in that area, those caf those unex bathrooms are going to be closed or what? >> No, that's part of the cafeteria. It's actually in the cafeteria. >> The bathrooms. >> It's like you can Yeah, you can end from the cafeteria. >> Mhm. >> Okay.
044But they're not So, they're going to be able to use them all genders. >> Individual use like you see in most restaurants, airports. >> Yeah. But there's five of them there. So, it's not like one or two. Mhm. >> Okay. And then the tile floors, I have a question. So, I saw that they were scratched and look dirty. How are they replacing them and why are they scratched? Um, in the science wings, they just put them down and I'd walk through when I was there with the English rooms and what kind of durability are these tiles if we already have them scratched and seems to be an issue and I don't even know where they're made. >> It it it isn't. We already realized this. We've been working with KCVA and CHA. We actually had
045a team of people out today. Um there were from the the provider we are working on a solution to that. It might be the cleaning solution we are using on it. So we are well aware and um I think there were five different groups out today that worked on the floors and we are working on it and I would be happy to report back to you once we have the answer to that. >> Okay. Thank you. Sure. >> Um there's another happy one. The Pennsylvania House of Representative has a scholarship program, the Foundation for Enhancing Communities. So, I guess you I'm sure you're aware of it, but I have information. >> I um if you have information um if you forward it to me, I will send it to the high school guidance office. Payton
046Gregory oversees all of the uh scholarships and we'll make sure she's aware of it. >> Okay. And then Hall of Fame. I know there were guidelines written for the Hall of Fame, but I don't know. I just because I don't understand there's no oversight by the board, but the board wrote guidelines for it. So, why don't we get the vote? >> I'm not directed at you. You're just happen to be in my vision. >> The Go ahead. >> The guidelines. >> Are you talking the guidelines or the bylaws? >> Well, the the document is labeled guidelines, but it's spoken as bylaws. I looked at the guidelines. It doesn't say bylaws, but they're using them as bylaws. >> Okay. Then I'd have to really look at that. It's my problem. I'll look at that. >> No,
047I don't know because it's been that way for But we have no voting. No, we did not vote. >> Why did we bother doing the guidelines then? >> You mean we voted on the bylaws? Is that what you're saying? >> Yeah, but there's no accountability to the board for it. >> We have a board member that sits there and it's community members. It's It's just the way the structure was set up. >> Okay. >> We do not I would not want to vote. I'm s I'm a sitting board member. I would not want this board to vote to put people into the Hall of Fame. I think that's a conflict personally. I I think all right I'm trying to think where you're the bylaws that were written >> on how the committee >> is run.
048>> It says guidelines at the top of the paper. I I'll make a copy and send it to you. >> No. Okay. So, the board might say, "Okay, here's what our expectations are as far as how that meeting is run." But then as far as who's picked on it, um the members that are there and we did change that >> the members that are just there. Before it used to be someone could call in or write in. Well, now it's no, you have to be present. I think that's >> okay. >> Or I'll double. >> So I guess I'm just I guess I'm just wondering. Are you just saying is the board tied to >> I I'm not sure. Maybe we'll talk about that. Sure, we'll talk. >> Yeah, we'll look it up. From what
049I uh gathered, I think there was some procedural things that you know were then um uh written and and you know discussed because I think the timeline in which uh you know names were being submitted and the timeliness to then be able to respond back to people. So, as I recall, some of the uh discussions in the past uh were hoping to mitigate some of those concerns about maybe a late delay, a late notification, which might lead to an individual who should be recognized that maybe doesn't have the um timeline to make it to uh the Hall of Fame as I recall some of these discussions. Um but yeah, it separate from the district. >> Thank you. Sure. >> Yes. This is for U. Mr. G. If anyone in the board, this is your committee.
050The um citizens advisory is your committee. But if if we if we >> the representative [clears throat] >> if there's any ideas from us because we were all put in the spot a little bit, but >> she talk about the citizen advisor. >> Yes. >> I'm Yeah, I was not clear. We were put on the spot just a minute ago about thinking about an idea. Maybe if we aren't meeting in February because I do like >> you brought that up at the working session. >> The working session is when we were we were asked to think about it. >> We did ask we're just asking again tonight if there are ideas to encourage the continued dialogues because we have a lot of our administrators worked very hard on the program of studies making sure parents
051this is my thought right now making sure our parents know how to use that for helping their children. >> We have parent meetings starting in February. We invite them in. >> Okay. I just I'm encouraging I'm encouraging I'm encouraging [laughter] the citizens group to to maybe be part of that because it's it's a wonderful tool for the parents and I I sat down with a parent talking about it and saying go use that tool. So >> maybe not a topic, but let's actually put that information out at the meeting so we can relay this. So maybe at that point in spread to the community topic >> topic to take up the entire February or March meeting. Uh maybe just mention it to them at the meeting so then they can spread it within the community
052that there's an option for parents to come and learn the new system. Well, we we could talk about it at the next session. >> He looks perplexed. >> Okay. >> No, because the parents at the citizens advisory committee meeting. >> They spread word. >> They spread the word, but they also there were a lot of younger spread it. But if he cancels his meeting, that's not happening before the scheduling. That's the only problem, you know. >> Okay. All right. Anyone else? All right. Um, just a couple of things. Um, Mrs. Fulmer, would there be any chance at our next uh working session agenda that you could compile the mandatory trainings that our teachers have to go through? I would love to see it all on a piece of paper. >> I'd appreciate that. Thank you.
053Um I would like to uh congratulate and wish them all well. I know they still have a half a year to go, but we did have a number of retirements on our agenda that we approved this evening. um both teachers and support staff. So um again wishing them well. Um also wanted to give kudos although he Mr. McCutchen had left but um Mr. Clark and myself attended the National Junior Honors Society induction at the middle school this evening. Uh 31 students were inducted into the uh National Junior Honors Society. Uh very nice ceremony. So kudos kudos to them. Um superintendent's remarks. Yeah, just uh just a few this evening, I promise. Uh but just want to again as uh Mrs. Surface had said, uh we really want to wish our uh MCTI students uh you
054know, luck at Skills USA. You know, our administration team has been going for years. We're excited to go again this year, cheer on our kids. We get really excited and it's hard because we can't talk to them, but you know, we see the great work that they're doing. So, it's really nice to see uh you know and and and engage with our parents to you know see what our our kids are are learning and doing and applying the great skills that they're learning at MCTI. Um you know, as I said, I just want to thank our board members, administration, and teachers that have volunteered uh at the PV cyber committee. Um as Mr. Jiski said, we did have a meeting today. I actually think we're really, you know, moving uh along. I think that we
055we have narrowed our our focus. I think uh you know our first meeting was kind of more let's look at some of the challenges that we're trying to uh mitigate and and um work through that but I think this meeting we were really uh focused on you know what is our next step and the step thereafter. So thank you to uh Mr. Van Horus for being there uh his staff actually from the Bears Academy were there as well. So we appreciate their time and just their perspective because I think one thing I took away was this idea of evolution. you know, not only, you know, the growth that we see in the district, but when we talk about opportunities, the evolution of meeting the needs of our students and understanding that there are some varying
056needs for uh many of our students, we want to make sure that we're meeting those needs and we're doing it uh methodically. So, um thank you for everyone participating in that. And uh stay warm and make sure you have shovels and salt and water, please, because uh you know, I hear that there may be some snow coming. uh you know, I'll I'll certainly going to be watching the weather as well and I'll probably get a thousand text messages, but um I will uh you know, we'll make some some hopefully good decisions uh you know, about how it impacts our students and staff. So, uh stay warm and go Bears. >> Thank you. Um could I have a motion to adjurnn, please? >> Motion some second. >> All right. [laughter] >> I know you're you're Mr.
057Galler would not be happy. >> [laughter] >> system and it's trying to figure it out. It's going to get quicker and quicker. >> All right. I'm sure we're all in a favor [laughter] favor. So, >> we are ajourned.
