What is up everybody? Phil up here. Welcome back to the clear sports talk podcast. Kelsey brothers, we're coming for you. Today we got a special interview, another wrestling one, but today we got boys wrestling. Um, with me I have >> Kayton Bon Dton Wolf. >> Today we're going be asking a few questions. Um, let's get right into it. Um, Kayen, when did you start wrestling and how many years have you been doing it for? >> Uh, I started wrestling in kindergarten and I've been wrestling ever since. ever since. Dalton, what about you? >> Um, I started in eighth grade. That's about six years. Still better than Kaden. So, yeah. >> So, uh, Dalton, why wrestling over any other sport? You play many sports. Um, you are going to college for football, but why wrestling over

maybe a sport like baseball or basketball? >> Well, baseball and wrestling are in different little areas of the school year, so that's why baseball wasn't in the equation. And uh I got to do basketball and wrestling in middle school and that opened my eyes to a more violent sport that I liked more. >> About you, Kaden? >> Uh it was like the only thing that was like available before I moved. So it just like never left. I just like never quit doing it. >> How about football? >> No, I I quit playing football. I didn't I didn't like football. Wasn't my jam. >> Wasn't your jam. >> Wasn't my jam. >> Wasn't his jam, guys. Um, what is your most memorable match? What it could be through club or high school? What is your most

memorable match? >> My first Techfall at regionals last year. >> I actually kind of confused. What exactly is a tech fall? Is that when you win by having, you know, the most? >> Yeah. You get up by 15 points and they like they stop it. >> Okay. So, like a shut out basically. >> Yeah, kind of. >> First tech fall. Don, what about you? Um, I'd say my most memorable match was in the semi-finals at Circle my sophomore year and it was a really close match and I did a kind of sketchy move and it worked out really well and I've been the kid. >> That's that's how you win a wrestling match right there. >> A great match. >> Uh, what is your favorite style of wrestling and uh tell me a little bit

about it? >> Oh, I've only ever done one style of wrestling that'd be folk style. There's three I think right? freestyle and Greco or the other two. Um, Gracie's done uh all of them and I can't even imagine doing Greco. Just you can only wrestle upper body and that includes throwing people and I don't do that. So, yeah. >> Folk folk right there. What are you Kaden? >> Uh, low key I went to a couple freestyle practices and they were fun, but it's just like the scoring is a little different, but I've mainly done folk style, so that's probably my favorite. It just kind of feels like Greco and freestyle are just how hard can you bully the other person because there's no rules. >> How far can you throw the guy? >> Just bully.

>> That's really all it is. >> Doing a sport like wrestling and trying to be aggressive and kind of I guess get out of anger. Don't you kind of want to bully the your opponent opponent? >> Um well in folk style there's rules to it. So he can only bully me as much as I can bully him. And like freestyle or greco like you can throw somebody on their head and there's no problem with it. >> Yeah. Yeah, >> it's more like a safety thing for me. >> Yeah, that's fair. >> I ain't trying to die. >> Um, who is your biggest influence role model um in wrestling? >> Um, I haven't been doing wrestling for like a super long time and it's not my main sport. So, I just kind of look to the

older dudes when I was a freshman and sophomore like Bryson Snell and Jacob Finny just because they're the two oldest dudes. >> How about you, Kaden? I'd honestly probably say the same thing because like middle school we really didn't have like a lot of guidance I guess and then or like the practices weren't as strict and we didn't have like other students telling us to focus and whenever we got to high school the seniors are there to like help us stay on track. >> Yeah. Um when it comes to wrestling um have there been any challenges throughout uh your wrestling career? probably when I moved in sixth grade to like find a new club and get back into it and like not knowing anybody and just starting again. >> Yeah, >> I can see how

it would be a pretty big challenge. >> I'd probably just have to say like minor injuries throughout the season, like if you get a bruise and like a really annoying spot and it just keeps hitting it over and over and over or something like that. Just something that's really nagging that can really like just >> that's just kind of one of the most like makes you want to quit things. >> Yeah. It's just >> nagging stuff that you can't get rid of. >> Yeah. Yeah. Just got to take take well care of it constantly. Um so tell me a funny story about wrestling. It' be about like after a match, before a match, during a match with a coach, with a teammate. >> I got the bus ride back from circle. >> Yep. >> Uh

so was it sophomore or junior year? >> Yeah. Our sophomore >> Keep in appropriate, but tell me about it. >> Our sophomore year >> just partying. We had >> our sophomore year on the way home from circle. We did really well at that tournament because we sent a couple dudes to the finals and we scored well and Andrew was like jumping up and down and doing Andrew things, sitting on top of the seats. We were all singing. It was only dudes. That's why it was the best. So, we were just having a blast. >> Pause. Um, so yeah, >> that first host. Andrew, a uh an old addition to the podcast. Hope he's doing well. >> Um, >> you guys are seniors and you guys are in that kind of leader role. Um, with that

leader role, do you feel like that's more pressure on you kind of to be the best wrestler you can be? >> You got that first, buddy. >> Um, what was your question again? send that question back through me >> for for being being a senior and now being in that uh lead role like you you looked up to people who are seniors or juniors now being that person that maybe someone looks up to. Do you feel like you have more pressure on you to be the best wrestler you could be? >> Um a little bit. I feel like a lot of the guys know that this isn't my main sport. This isn't what I want to do in college or whatever. So I'm more I kind of focus on like more their character than just

wrestling. like making sure they're doing their workout and that they're doing everything they need to be doing, but also just their character development, too. >> Yeah, pretty good. >> Yeah. I don't know. I kind of just like make sure like people are messing around. I kind of mess around too, but I just make sure it doesn't go to like a far extent. I I guess to make sure people don't like cross the line. Make sure they're staying like focused, I guess. >> At least slightly locked in. >> Yeah. Slightly locked in. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Like if they're getting off track, tell them to you got to lock back in. >> Yeah. Just a little bit. just a little bit. Um, uh, yeah, being seniors, uh, what are you guys' future plans looking like? >>

Well, I'm playing football next year at Friends and I'm going to study some sort of business. Not sure exactly what I want to do within the business world, but something in there. It seems like a really broad subject that it's easy to get a job in the future or have your own business or something along the lines of that. I'm gonna go to Manhattan Area Tech and become a electrician. >> Like that electrician money? >> Oh, yeah. >> Blue cooler. >> All right, fellas. Thank you uh for coming on today. Anything else? No. >> Go Indians. You guys heard it here first. Thank you guys for coming on. Thank you, D. Thank you, Kaden. See you next time on the Clear Water Sports Talk podcast.
