Hello, my name is Isaac Childris. I will be your host today. With you, we have >> Lane Blevens. >> I will be interviewing him on job shadowing. First question I have for you, Lane. Where did you job shadow? >> I job shadowed at Windmill Rofing and Construction. >> Okay. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Why did you choose this business, Lane? >> Um, a couple reasons. So, it's kind of a long story. I'll try to make it short. >> All right. >> I have a friend named Brody Harmon. He works for over the summer he worked for a guy. He's a uh he's a farmer and they needed help um with hay bells and whatnot. Hard work. But um anyway, Brody got a job. He graduated last year with the farmer who owns a roofing company, Windmill.
And uh so yeah, when I heard I needed to do a job shadow, I was like, why not just go with them? So >> Okay. >> Yep. >> Yeah. Is that how you would describe the work or like is there another way you describe it? >> Yeah. So, the day I went it was just it was mainly just um roofing. So, >> yeah. So, it's just just a roofing company really. >> Yeah. >> That's what it seemed like to me. >> Did you learn anything from that? >> Just I mean I didn't really I wouldn't say learn anything but I practiced teamwork I guess I would say. Yeah. >> Um >> and yeah, just hard work. >> That's very fair. >> Yeah. Well, that wraps up all the questions we have today. Um, thank you
guys. What's up, guys? Welcome back to our podcast. Today, we're here with Christian and we're going to be talking about a senior job shadowing experience. So, where did you do your job shadow at? >> I job shadowed my uh friend's mom at a dog grooming place called Celestial Pet Spa. >> That sounds interesting. >> What all did you do while you were there? So, all I did was I just watched and like I don't know. I I I watched the I watched my person like do everything like do her whole ritual, take care of the dogs and stuff and then I just asked her the questions and it was fun, you know, like other than just watching I got to see what all goes into pet grooming. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> So, why did you
choose that? >> Well, first off, I like dogs. Okay. I love dogs with the passion. And I thought it sounded cool because I asked him and I was like, I have nothing. What does your mom do? He's like, oh, she's a she's a pegger. I'm like, oh, that sounds fun. I'm going to ask her if I can job shadow her. And then boom, job shadow done. So, what kind of like um just describe the experience to us like just what all like what all would it take for you to get that kind of job? Um I don't really know. Probably experience with pet care. I don't know if you would need like a college degree for it. Um, that wasn't like one of my questions I asked, but I feel like you just need to
have experience like with animals and stuff to like be able to take care of them and um just do everything they do. I don't think Yeah. I don't think there's anything else you like need for it other than experience. >> Yeah. >> All right. So, what do you what did you learn while you were there? Like any important things that you could bring home to if you have any pets at home? >> Well, first off, the dogs there are very cute. cute dogs there. Some of them don't cooperate as well, but uh you know, you wave a treat in the air and they like they lock in. They lock in real hard, but and then they start cooperating. >> Yeah. All right. >> Well, thanks for coming to listen to our podcast. >> Um my
name's Cat. Um I am here with Finn. How are you? >> I'm good, Cat. How are you? >> I'm good. Uh we're here to talk about job shadows. So, who did who and where did you shadow? >> Um, I sadly forgot her name, but uh it it's it's somewhere. Um uh but I shadowed a harder physical therapy in Clear Water. >> Uh why did you choose to do that? >> Um I chose to do physical therapy because I'm interested in athletic training and physical therapy as uh my major um and to do in the future. and I did an athletic trainer last year for junior job shadowing at friends. So I decided this year why not get the other spectrum of it and see how it goes and kind of stay close to home cuz
I had to go to Ottawa for a visit so I couldn't go too far away. But um I enjoyed it. It was fun. Um so I'm definitely interested in both. I'm still trying to balance out and figure out what I want to do but both pretty interesting jobs. >> What What kind of work did you do? Like how was the experience? >> Um I kind it was more so uh it was more so I was kind of like literally being her shadow. I wasn't really doing much of anything. I was kind of uh just watching and learning and she was kind of telling me um depending on the specific patient about like this is what we do with a patient like this or like with like uh if this patient has this problem, we give
them this type of stretches or kind of how she'd put it into the computer and how she would help the person throughout the weeks of physical therapy and get them to meet their goal um and get them to recover. Did you learn anything worth keeping in the brain? >> Um, I did learn that uh uh at kind of a a small place like Harter and Clear Water that it's more more of a community thing. Like it's you're going to be seeing uh most of the same people. And if that's not the same person, you'll probably be seeing someone who knows someone you've already treated. Um because it's more of a small community. Um, and I I also learned that uh with with something like that, like physical therapy, you're kind of evaluating a person and
then you're not you're not really getting them you're obviously getting them to recover, but you're getting them to recover towards a goal. So, she kind of made it known to me that anytime she has a new patient come in, she makes sure to know what their goal is. Whether it's wanting to walk again without a walker, whether it's wanting to be be able to go on a trip without having any back pain or you know uh you know having problems like that. So she's like trying to help someone get to their physical goal um you know whether it's any of those. So >> that's really interesting actually. And this is something you want to do as a job in the future? Um, yeah. I was thinking that or athletic training, like I said, because I
feel like athletic training is like the physical therapy sports wise. I mean, I'm an athlete, so it would be almost like physical therapy. Uh, maybe a little more handson I feel, but that's obviously just with the athletes straight like being there, traveling, have maybe having late nights. Um, having I'm pretty sure it's a little bit long schooling, you know, that depends if I want to be in school longer or not, but um, get a masters for that, but I would have to get a bachelor's for physical therapy. Um, and that is also hands-on with some athletes, but also you get different people like elderlys and maybe people who are getting up there in age who are having like certain muscle problems because, you know, muscles start to collapse and problems start to occur whether that's
your back or, you know, neck or anything like that. So, it'd be a wide variety if I did physical therapy compared to just athletes. It'd be from middle school to college. So maybe maybe pro level. So >> uh thank you for coming and goodbye. >> Thank you. >> Hi, I'm Jacob and I'm interviewing Jacob. So today we're going to be talking about um the job shadow day that we recently went on. So where did you shadow? >> Uh well I don't have tribe time so I actually did not job shadow yesterday. >> Okay. So, if you were going to shadow, like what like employer would you shadow or something? >> Uh, I'd probably go with Summit Cleaning Solutions because that's where I worked over the summer and that's where I plan on going after school's
over. So, that's probably where I would drop shadow. >> Okay. So, like what kind of work would you like? >> Uh, it's a tree business mainly. That's what we did. But if we don't have any big tree jobs, then we do like um gutter cleaning or like anything. It's usually like helping the elderly for a good price honestly. >> Okay. So um like can you like be more descriptive like like what you do on a daily basis? >> Okay. So uh basically like we'd show up truck, trailer, everything in the back. Um we'd get all the supplies we needed, ladders off the railing, all that. And uh then we'd get like our throw line which is like a bean bag attached to a string and you have to throw it over the branch you that
looks very secure and then you tie a rope to it and like just like basically pulley system it over the branch tie a knot get all your rope set up and then you just like get your harness on and then mount up and go up and cut whatever needs to be cut I guess. >> Okay. Okay. So, what was your best like learning experience from that? >> Uh, probably just like knowing how good of a work ethic I have. Like I'd learned over the summer like how good of a work ethic I had whenever I have something I enjoy doing. >> Okay. >> Hi, I'm Ally and I will be interviewing Lucas today. >> Hello. and I'm going to ask him about some questions about his job shadow. >> All right. >> Okay. So, yesterday,
where did you drop shadow at? >> I job shadowed at a place called AllPro Cleaning South. They're a restaurant hood cleaning company. >> Why did you choose that business? I chose it because my dad's in the business and I I figured I'd might as well, you know, some some I might as well I figured I might as well job shadow at a place I was already a little familiar with, you know, just see if I can expand my knowledge about that. >> Yeah. Um, what kind of work or like is it and like just uh describe your experience there. >> Um, I'm going be honest. I might as well have stayed home. I couldn't really do that much cuz, you know, it's pretty dangerous cuz it's a lot of like hot water really fast. I
actually know a woman that got like burned from it >> from all that hot water. It went like right in her face. >> It was >> not fun. So, I had to stay safe distance because I don't have my proper protective equipment, you know. >> Yeah. What did you learn from the experience? It's pretty hard work. Like a lot of people think like, "Oh, you're just taking a hose and you're just spraying it everywhere." But no, there's >> there's a lot to it. >> It's really dangerous. >> Yeah, it's very dangerous. >> Okay. Well, that's all the questions I have for you today. >> All right. >> And that's all. >> Hello everybody. Welcome back to the CHS podcast. It is November 7th and I am your host, Alex Rose, and we have a special
guest today, Jared Whitney. Um today we're just going to be talking about kind of topics about seniors. And so first, where did you shadow? Uh >> I job shadow at the Clearwater Middle School. Water Middle School. Uh why did you choose that business? >> I chose it because I was just looking at teaching jobs in all the high schools. They weren't in their normal state because everybody's gone for job shadows and testing and stuff like that. So I went to the middle school just because like I want to become a coach maybe. So, like teaching might be a career that I might want to look into. >> What kind of work did they have you do? >> Uh, I wasn't I was pretty much just supervising the kids playing basketball. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >>
Can you describe your experience? >> Uh, yeah. It was um I mean it was fun just catching up with Coach Tracy and watching kids play basketball. I guess >> it's fair. Uh, and what did you learn from that experience? >> Uh, middle school kids are rowdy. >> That's true. >> It was a lot of fun. That got into a couple arguments and almost broke into a fight. So, it was that was pretty fun. I mean, >> you said fight. You tell us about the fight. >> Well, yeah. It was pretty pretty hard foul. One got up and pushed the other. It didn't go very far past that because all of them got in there to separate them. >> Oh, I see. I see. >> Yeah, they about they about got into a fight. >> So,
overall, it was pretty it was a pretty fun experience. >> Yeah, it was a fun experience. I mean, I feel like it'd be a fun job to do. >> That's fair. So, there we go. Thanks for tuning in to the podcast episode and we'll catch you all next time. >> Uh, my name's Carter. I'm here with Jaden. I'm going to ask him a few questions about the job shadow day for the seniors. First one is where did you job shadow at? >> Uh I shadowed at Coleman. It's where my stepdad works and they make like camping gear like coolers and stuff like that. >> Why did you choose to go there? >> Uh I chose that like business because my stepdad works there and they have a whole lot of different like careers and stuff
you can go into. Like he's a mechanic or something like that I think. but they also have like just all like all sorts of different careers and stuff like that. So, it's kind of cool seeing how they all intertwine. >> What kind of like what kind of work? Describes the experience. >> Uh what he does is like I said, he's a mechanic. So, there's like they have like the factory portion. If like a machine goes wrong or something, he's trying to like figure out what like how to fix it and all this stuff like sort of that kind of thing. >> Did you learn anything? Uh, yeah. I kind of learned how some of these machines work. I mean, I'm not very mechanically inclined. Is that the right phrase? So, I don't I don't I
don't know how some of them worked. I was kind of mind blown, but yeah, I guess I kind of learned some of some things about that. >> Cool. I that's all I got. Hello, I am Bron Sailor and I'm interviewing Mason Smith about job shadowing. So, Mason, my questions are where did you shadow at? >> I shadowed at Larksfield and the job I shadowed was a physical therapist. >> Uh, why did you choose it? Was it like anything external? Was it like family? >> It's just something I've been interested in and like my mom works there so I thought might as well go there and do it. >> Yeah. Um, what kind of work did you do? Like anything hands-on or did you just >> It was, you know, >> it was kind of hands-on.
We did the balance and weight strengthening classes for the older people and it was it was fun. >> Yeah. Um like what you learn there? Did any of it like shape your thoughts on doing it? Would you rather do like a different type of it? >> I liked it, but I thought I think I'd like doing the sport position a lot better than it cuz just more of like what I relate to. Yeah, that makes sense. All right. Well, that's all the questions I got.
