Welcome back everybody to the Clearwater podcast. It is October 29th and it's your host Alex Rose and producer Bla1 Kinger. We have a special guest today, Julian Sanchez. >> What's up? >> So, first uh how's your day been? You know how you been going? >> It's been good. Just ready for football practice and everything. >> Yeah, it's fair. It's been pretty windy outside. I can't lie. So, our first question for today is how was your role like what what was your role during the Garden playing game? Um, so I started at corner that game and I was I knew I was gonna play a little bit of quarterback, so like I was just ready. So when I was on defense, I'd go to the sideline, be ready, play some quarterback, and I ended up did.
>> Nice. How did So how did the offense work? Cuz everybody was a little confused on the three back. >> Yeah. Kind of situation. >> So we had just like our quarterback and then our running backs cuz we weren't going to throw the ball a lot because our quarter injuries and everything. So, we were just going to run the ball and we just have like strong side and try to trick the defense into having like good runs. >> I see. I see. >> Yeah. >> So, we did was it third quarter you scored or was it fourth quarter? >> Uh, I think it was the fourth quarter. >> Fourth quarter you scored your first varsity touchdown. How did that feel? >> Felt good. I mean, >> not in the situation we were in. We were
down 23, but like deep down felt good. >> I mean, it's all Yeah. You know, you scored. >> Yeah. >> Uh, we obviously high school you can't do celebrations, but if you were going to do one, what would it be? Like the one that's like put a little wham in the sauce, put a little homemade drop like Yeah, I see what you mean. >> Yeah, >> I see what you mean. Well, so JV, you did JV last year, right? You were a freshman. >> Yeah. >> Did you played quarterback then, right? >> So, you were kind of used to the quarterback position or was it still kind of >> nerve-wracking? It was still kind of nerve-wracking. I've never played like varsity quarterback, so it was like kind of I was kind of nervous, but like
I knew what I was doing a little bit. Yeah, >> that's fair. So, it didn't feel so weird playing out of positions. Yeah. No, it didn't feel really weird. >> Oh, that makes sense. Um, so you said you started quarterback and then corner. Did you start anywhere else? >> Yeah, I played some return. >> Return? >> Yeah, return and then kickoff. That's it. >> Did you do running back at all? >> No, I don't think I played running back. >> No, it was just quarterback. >> Yeah, just some quarterback. >> Well, how did you uh how do you think you did over the year? >> Uh, I obviously got one more game left. >> Yeah, I think I've I've done fine. I could have been better, but >> that's true. >> We haven't had a
great season. Yeah. How do you think? Um, so obviously, you know, it's a bummer. Can't get in the playoffs, but, you know, how do you think this team has done so far? >> I think I think we've have a good We had a good team. We just need to like >> I don't know, just have like better like culture like >> So, like, are you saying it's like a obviously you can't really like bum anybody out. So, is it like a >> kind of just nobody's mindset kind of thing? >> Yeah. >> And like no one's locked in in practice sometimes and it's just bad. >> Oh, I see what you Yeah. And we just come out of games like slow and we just need to come out fast. >> Yeah, I see what you
mean. >> Yeah. >> Uh is there so any ups and downs? Like >> um uh I mean the down is obviously not making playoffs, but like this game this Friday, hopefully everyone goes out. >> Mhm. >> Plays hard. But the ups, we've had a great season. We have people going farther. Jared, Whitney, Wolf, they're all going to friends. >> They all have scholarships, right? >> Yeah, they got scholarships to friends. So that's like the ups. They get to go play. >> Yeah. One last game for the seniors. Hopefully they we play good. >> You think you're going to get any scholarships? >> Uh I don't know, man. I don't know. >> Pretty good. Probably the fastest player on the team. >> I don't know, man. It's getting close. >> Yeah, it's a good game. So,
we What is your plan game plan going into Friday? >> Um >> you got any like routines before the game? >> No, I mean like Yeah, a little bit. I like say a little prayer before I put my pads on and then like just get my drip on. >> The drip? >> Yeah. Got to get my drip right. >> That's fair. That's fair. >> Yeah. You got any buddies you like play with? Like you start before the game, >> hang out with >> like Yeah, I hang out with like Gio, Wrangler, EMTT, like that little friend group. >> Oh, that's >> Yeah, I chill with them for a little bit. >> So, obviously starting a varsity game is different than starting a JV game. >> Yeah. >> Like going out on the field on a
varsity game, how does that make you feel? >> Uh, I'm going be honest, it's kind of scary cuz like Yeah, especially as a sophomore. I'm not I'm not very big, so I got to use my speed to get to guys and like >> It's true. >> The guy for Pratt, he was like 66 and it was just scary tackling him and it's just nerve-wracking. >> Yeah. But you think you did good, right? >> Yeah, I think I did. I did solid. I think >> that's fair. That's fair. Who else starts sophomore? >> Uh EMTT Oldie starts and then for like special teams, Noah Mannheim, Wrangler, Kirkwood, >> Gio. >> Yeah. it. So, yeah, we have a pretty pretty good sophomore class. >> I think Yeah, our sophomore class going into senior class is going to
be pretty a good team. >> Yeah. So, anything else just take away from the year? Anything sports wise? >> Not really. We have a game this Friday. I want everyone to be there. I'm actually starting starting quarterback. >> Starting quarterback. >> Yeah, this Friday. >> So, yeah, we're probably going to win, you know. >> Yeah, we we will. >> Are you doing any other sports? >> Yeah, I'll do basketball and track. >> Basketball and track. What do you want in track? Uh, I do long jump, high jump, and then I'll do some relays. >> Relays? >> Yeah, >> that's fair. Yeah, I've Yeah, you're pretty fast. >> Yeah, >> like I think you have like the fastest or the second fastest 40 on the team, right? >> Yeah, >> something like that. Pretty light. But
yeah, I see what you mean. That's That's pretty cool. >> Yeah. >> So, yeah, just over the year, I think you've played pretty well. Like I played before I got injured. Um, I played with you. That was pretty fun. >> Yeah, >> you kick return during Wellington, I think it was. That was insane. Or was super hype. >> Yeah. >> So, yeah, I think it's been a great season. I mean, it's a bummer you didn't make the playoffs, but I think this Friday, you know, seniors got a ball out. >> Yeah. We just got to go out there, play hard one last time for them. >> Yeah. You We have a big injury team. >> Yeah. >> There's a lot of injured dudes. >> Yeah. >> But yeah, I think that's about >> Yeah. So,
is that it? You know, just got one more game left. >> Yeah. It's going to muscle through. Hopefully bring home a win. Let the seniors ring that bell one more time. Yep. >> Are you playing? You're playing next year, correct? >> Yeah, I'll play next year. I'll play all four years. >> That's good. Yeah, >> we're definitely going to need you. >> That's fair. Yeah, I mean, that will do it. Uh, thank you for tuning in to the podcast. Um, go to the game on Friday. I mean, it might be the last game of the season, but, you know, it's it's the biggest game for the seniors and just the biggest game in general this year. So, tune in, go to that game, get hype, and see y'all later.
