Welcome back everybody to the Triple Take podcast and today it is just me but we do have a special guest Solus. >> Hello. >> So first off, first question of the day. How have you been? How's your day been? >> I've been good. >> That's pretty good. Now it is exchange student month uh at Mawware. So we wanted to get you in and just talk about your experiences as an exchange student. And so first thing I'm going to ask is just what was your experience like? How has it been? >> I think it's been pretty good. I believe like a lot of American things and I really like it much. >> That's good. Um, what what did you like what decide made you decide to become a exchange student? >> Well, uh, my dad came

as an exchange student when like when he was in high school and also my sister did it and she came like here to this town. So, she had a really good experience and a really good host family. So, I just decided to came here too. That actually sounds kind of fun. I've been in Spain myself. It's very pretty. Um, but coming to America from Spain, what was your first impression? >> I mean, my first impression it was like >> I was in the middle of nowhere because it was everything like there was like nothing. It was just filled and it's so different from what I'm used to it in Spain because there's like >> buildings everywhere. >> Yeah. >> And there's just a lot of a lot of a lot of things. And here was

just like a road a straight road. >> I don't know. But it's good. I like it. >> That's good. Um, so Spanish schools, they're a lot different than American schools, right? >> Yeah. >> Like, so what is your opinion on American schools? >> I mean, I like them because I think that they're first of all way way easier, so I don't have to work that much. Oh, >> and uh also like it because you can like be relating with a lot of people since you have a lot of different classes with different people every time. In Spain, it's not like that. You just have like one class and that's your class for all the year and then you like stay with the same people. So I like it that much. And we you also cannot

choose like your classes. >> Oh yeah. >> Like mostly you cannot choose them. But yeah, I I think you like better. Now, I know this is kind of biased because you've been in Spain a lot, but which one would you prefer schoolwise? >> I don't know. I mean, I like I like I really like this one, but I don't know. I just very used to it to the other ones, so I I like it, you know. >> Now, uh my next question is going to be favorite American food, but I do want to ask, is there a difference between Spanish cafeteria food and like food you would get here? >> I mean, yeah, it's it's kind of different, but it's not that different. Like basically it's almost same there and then there's like there's bakery

and then you can also get Yeah. If you want salty things you get them just it's most same. >> Oh okay. >> Like my favorite food probably will be American Mexican food. It's so good. Like it's not real real Mexican food but I like it. It's good. So like not like Taco Bell or is that >> I mean Taco Bell is good too but I I was I meant like >> like Mexican restaurant. >> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I see what you mean. >> So is there anything you miss from Spain? Anything like it could be food. It could be like sports. >> Um I mean okay I I miss the food a lot. Like the Spanish food is so good. >> Spanish food is very good. >> It's really good. And also I miss my

clothes like my the style that I used to have in Spain because it's like much more I we dress up for for almost everything and we go to school like also dress up and here is just party clothes which is comfy like I like it. >> So it's more comfy here. >> Yeah. Like it's easier to dress up like because you can come school if in PM if you want. >> So would you say you try harder to get dressed in Spain? >> Yeah. >> Oh, okay. I see. Like your clothes mean a lot. >> I see what you >> So, do you think it's easier or I guess obviously it's easier, but do you think >> it's Yeah, it's easier to dress up like No, dress here every day. Just I can wear whatever

I want. >> Oh, yeah. >> You know, like it's it doesn't matter if I come like not dress up. >> I see what you mean. Um, is there So, this is a big question and I asked this before you said no, but if you had to think about it, have you taught anybody anything like from Spain like Spanish or like something about your culture or stuff like that? >> Yeah. Yeah, I did. >> What is it? >> I mean, like, what do you mean? >> So, like, have you taught anybody like a Spanish word or have you taught anybody like something you did in Spain that's different here? >> Yeah. I like it with a lot of things. >> Oh, a lot of things. Yeah, that's fair. What about words? Have you like taught anybody

senses? >> Yeah. I I don't know why we were talking like in volleyball and I just told how to say feet feet or food. >> Oh, that's >> I don't know why we were just talking. >> That's funny. Um, have you talked to anybody here in Spanish? Like, do you >> I talked to a Spanish teacher. >> The Spanish teacher? Have you talked to Emtt Oldi? Cuz he knows fluent Spanish. Oh, I haven't talked to you. >> You should talk to him. He knows a lot about SP. >> Um, another thing, so I'm not fully I don't know how to do it as like I don't know as much about it, but you have a family here that takes care of you and then a family in Spain, correct? >> Yeah. >> So, how's your

family here? >> It's good. I mean, they're so nice and they really take care of me. >> That's good. >> And they're the RP family. And there's like I have sister Lauren Rup. is senior and then a brother he he's uh >> Oh, I see. I see. >> And then we have two dogs. >> Mhm. >> So they are American, correct? >> Yeah. >> So like I guess it's another thing. Are they is their culture wise like what they do different from >> let's say your Spanish family? >> Yes. Like I feel like you're you guys just like do something in a day and then you don't do anything else. But in Spain, we it's like we live always have something to do. >> Yeah. Also and always it's like okay this and then this

and then this and then this. We are like not I mean you're at home but it is it's different. Like here I feel like in Spain we do much more things than you guys. >> Yeah, I understand what you mean. So you you like it here though? Like this is it's a good place. Okay. Cuz like a lot of people like they kind of like me. >> Yeah, I know. A lot of people thinks that American cultures. >> Well, that's good. Is there anything else like just I mean it's sometimes it's going to be it's hard being an exchange student. Is there anything like you've overcame something you've done? >> I mean of course I felt like homesick sometimes. >> Yeah. >> But of course like I I was expecting that but no I mean

I think I have like good experience. >> That's good. Um how was volleyball as an experience? Is it the same thing? Did you play volleyball in Spain? >> Yeah I did but it was it was bad. It was not serious. I mean, it wasn't bad cuz literally my team was my friend group. >> So, that was so funny. But it it's like not serious at all because okay, in Spain there was like no seasons. You play your sport like all the year, the sport that you want >> and you usually people play one or two sport >> and um it was like not serious. We had just like two practices per week and it was like one hour per practice and then we just have like a game on week >> on Saturday morning usually

>> and uh it was like just not serious. The rotation was not even good here. So I really like here like I think it >> So there's a lot more work but the outcome's better like you have a lot more enjoyment. >> Yeah. >> Have you made a lot of friends here? >> Yeah. That's That's pretty. >> I mean, I came with no friends, of course. >> Yeah, that's fair. Um >> I mean, my parents already knew them because uh they came here when my sister was here. >> Oh, cuz your sister's older, correct? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And she came with this family like in She's now a senior and she came sophomore. So, my parents, they already knew the family because they came visit my sister. But I didn't came here. I was

in a school trip. So, I didn't know him. >> Are you staying here full for until senior year >> or the graduate? >> Just this year. >> Oh, just this year. >> Yeah. >> Oh, wow. Are you going to miss it? You think so? >> Yeah, probably. >> That's fair. Yeah. >> Moving here from Europe cuz I did that. It's pretty tough like leaving everything behind now. Obviously, you have stuff there still. >> Yeah. >> So, what do you think it's going to be? You think you're going to be a lot different when you go back? >> Yeah. No, just me. Like the situation here, everything. >> Okay. I see. Well, is there anything else you want to say? >> No, that's it. Okay. Well, thanks for coming on the podcast. I really enjoyed it.
