001welcome USD 264 uh Clear Water parents staffs uh students stakeholders and anyone watching on YouTube uh this is our superintendent update Clear Water Clarity volume number 14 for uh November 2024 I hope everybody found the Halloween to be very safe and uh um exciting and we hopefully as we finished up the first nine weeks we can celebrate some of those successes as well start looking forward uh on to the rest of the year uh it's kind of hard to believe in year two here for me that we're already a quarter the way through the Academic Year and and getting close to being halfway through the financial year it's been a great transition and we're really excited about the things that are going on and the things that we're going to continue to work on and
002what we're really going to focus on today is again we're going to circle back to always thinking about the why in our strategic plan um and then we're going to talk about what are we going to do and then how are we actually going to continue to achieve some of those goals uh I know at times this becomes a little bit of a bingo card activities how many times will I say something about the Strategic plan or why what and how but I think it provides some consistency for us as we starting to look at diving into some of the deeper portals of our strategic plan and this month we're really going to focus on two different things how can we develop deep relationships and deep engagement with uh families and how can we also
003provide consistent relevant communication so one of those pieces that we found is that um access to power school is great and and Power School gives you a lot of good information but it doesn't give you all the information it doesn't always give you the information in a parent friendly format and so as we evaluated last year some different opportunities uh we found a company called my Education data that would be able to provide that all not only for the parents to be able to access but also for our teachers and so this is a way for our teachers to be able to access data about students and it's only the students that they teach they don't have any data about students they don't teach but they're able to go in they're able to look at
004their attendance data State assessment data fastbridge data grades and anything else uh that they may have on file with them all in one place versus having to go to multiple different portals um and that's all Al something for parents and stakeholders you would be able to have that access to as well so what is my Education data my Education data is a place where you can check grades so every single class that your student has will be able to have their grade on there and it'll be able to be visibly seen in a very quick uh manner you'll also be able to see your state assessment scores as well as fast Bridge assessment scores and any progress monitoring um that happens in that as well and this is all under one place so you're not
005going to have to go log in and out to multiple different things we take State assessment scores in a totally different venue called kite we take fastbridge in a totally different uh aspect in Renaissance Learning on the iPads so what we're doing is we're pulling all of that data together for you guys to be able to look at it and you're also going to see when you log in on the right hand side where it's looking at the assessments you're going to be able to say that there's a descriptor there based on the score it's going to help you better understand what that data means we're also going to be able to pull in attendance also with looking at grades individual assignments State assessment scores and attendance you're going to be able to look at
006what your student is in relation to the average of the entire class so if you've got a sixth grade student and they have an attendance rate of 82% you're going to be able to say where is that in relation to the rest of the class if the rest of the class is at 78% you're able to say yeah they're attending a little bit more than everybody else or if it's higher you say o maybe there's an opportunity where we need to be able to attend a little bit B uh more also with the IPS which is individual plans of study um those are some forms that we are working on with the company to be able to get attach so that you can start seeing some of those um interest inventories that the students may
007be doing in zel and and some of the work that they're working on towards developing their individual plan of study how so the first step is if you want to be able to access this you have this website here called KS clearwater. myeducation.com uh we will also be able to when this V video is posted we'll put the parent fly that goes with it so all you need to have after that is an email address and it's the email address that is attached in power school so my Education data goes and pulls that uh uh email address when you submit that email address at that website it's going to send back a temporary code and you'll do this every time you log in uh it's just to for uh security measures you're going to get
008that code sent to you in an email you're going to type that code in then you're going to be able to log in uh what I would suggest is if you are a user that has an Android or an iPhone that be able to set a website as a home screen icon uh usually you'll see the little box with an arrow going up in it you tap on that you can uh scroll down to the option say set as home screen or set on home screen basically you now just set a a link and it's going to look like a little app that allows you to log in and look at that information and what it gives you the opportunity is just daily weekly um hopefully weekly at a minimum be able to log in
009and be able to look at your students data and see where they're at uh when so parent teacher conferences uh hopefully um if you went you were able to visit with the teachers and get some of that flyer uh maybe take a quick look at it maybe the teachers went through some of that data with you um also this week um leading into November 1st we just launched the first set of newsletters so Elementary West and Sims uh launched their building newsletters through my Education data so not only will you be able to see that on your my Education data login website you will also be able to get an email uh via that way and they also posted it on social media that puts all of that same information uh in the same spot
010so hopefully we are creating more of a linear and singular uh communication device for you to be able to um do that and then lastly we're just again as we're doing this this is creating that partnership where we can all be one degree more um so not only are we looking at how are we doing today but be able to have that conversation with your students on how can we take one step further to get one degree better uh how can we move from 21 degrees where water is hot to 212 degrees where water will power a steam engine so how can we talk with our students whether it's their assessment scores whether it's their grades or whether it's their attendance have those conversations with your students about how to be one degree more again
