001hello chris cooper superintendent of clearwater schools here with a brief update i want to give everybody an update on our coven numbers the good news is we're trending in the right direction currently today on this friday we have 119 students out which would still be a little more than average on a on a typical day but not too bad for a winter friday 13 of those students we've been notified are positive with covet and 13 other students are household contacts so total or about 2 percent out with a covert related situation so as i mentioned that is trending downward uh two weeks ago we were at 137 on friday total absent uh and last week about 129 and now 119 so moving in the right direction also with staff that's also been going in in
002a good direction once we got through early on this week last couple days we've only had a couple of teachers who are out with illness we obviously have other substitutes in the building for professional development things like maternity leave personal days today uh things like that but as far as illness staff doing much better as well as i mentioned this is a community effort so we've appreciated everybody's help in keeping six students home and staying home as staff when we're ill and i still believe firmly that's going to get us through this and whatever comes next in other items we are wrapping up what your students may refer to as fast bridge assessment three times a year we do screening for reading and math to make sure that no student our district has a deficit
003that we're not aware of and then we can do some other diagnostic assessments to figure out exactly what it is they need to to get up to speed on any missed material as far as the basics of reading and math i hate to even mention this but there is a forecast for a pretty significant weather event coming up mid-week next week so please make sure that your information is up to date as far as if you've changed phone numbers or email or anything make sure you get that to the school offices so they can update your information so if we did have a school closing event you would get prompt notification through email text or phone however you choose the other way to do that is if we do have a school closure i will
004notify the wichita area tv stations ksn cake kwch speaking of winter we're in the middle of winter activities and no high schools wrapping up tournament week for basketball this week we had hosted rose hill in a wrestling duel last night and middle school as well has tons of things going on so keep on keeping on there and appreciate all the support and proud of proud of our students and all the activities they do looking ahead i did want to mention that we don't have school on february 14th valentine's day also happens to be the day after super bowl so we're all hoping that we get to watch the chiefs well probably not everybody but i'm hoping we get to watch the chiefs and then not have school the next day we do not have school
