hello chris cooper here superintendent of clearwater schools with a brief thank you i've done some superintendent updates this year it's been quite a while since i've done one of those which is probably good news i just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to many many people and really our whole community that made a success a successful school year possible this year first of all we made it we had school in clearwater thanks to again the work of many people first of all i want to say thanks to our dedicated staff they came each day to work did things that are out of the ordinary extraordinary different than we've ever done before and they did it all in the name of helping kids each and every day and that's that's every staff member

that we have put in the extra effort and i just really appreciate that and and thank each and every one of them also want to thank our students from pre-k students to seniors we had students come and do whatever it took this year to still get an education i've never seen students who wanted to be in school as badly as they wanted to be this year their drive and dedication to be here and to do whatever they were asked was was phenomenal and we greatly appreciate that i especially want to thank parents also i know it's not been easy and matter of fact in many cases has been really difficult and trying on parents when you get that call and you're told your students going to be home for 14 days that's a challenge and

to help them stay engaged in learning during that time is even more of a challenge so many people uh stepped up and did whatever they could to um make things work for our district and for their uh own children also as i mentioned just want to thank the whole community um what was accomplished this year in clearwater schools could not be done by a small group of individuals it took a team it took a community and took everybody working together and not only did we do it but we did it without divisiveness without division and hatred and and some things that have crept into other communities creeping into clearwater and um i'm honored to be here and proud to say that that that happened in this community we as i mentioned we did have a

good year we also know that students may have suffered some learning loss this year because things were not normal we know that students have missed opportunities to be enriched to be advanced to engage in in learning that that they normally would have so i just want to communicate that we are um looking at that in the future we have several plans in place to make up any gaps in learning that might be there but to also um enrich and provide extra opportunities for students so that they'll that we can assure that they'll be successful when they leave us we've added some new positions and and are looking at some programs for the next several years uh thanks to some in infusion of federal dollars we're able to do that so just know that as we

go forward next year we want to have the most normal year possible i think we all dream of a very normal year i know i do i think we're going to actually have that but we want it to be extraordinary we don't want it to just be normal we want it to be so much better than normal so we'll be communicating that as we move into next year in the following years about some of those opportunities last of all i just want to thank the community for um taking me and my family in accepting us as clearwater indians and bringing us into this community welcoming us here and making it a very positive experience i've been very blessed to be here in this community and thankful that i've had the opportunity to be a part

of this school system that's all i have for this school year this mr cooper signing off have a great summer
