Um, quarterly out days, and the count of the days that make 66 weeks were were pretty um well distributed. So, it is the recommendation of the administration to adopt calendar A as the official district calendar for the 2016-2017 school year. All right, is there any discussion on the recommendation? Do we have a motion? So moved. Second. Matt makes a motion, Jesse seconds. I move to approve the 2015-2016 calendar as presented. All those in favor? Yes. 6B. Okay. So, um 6B is also a required item, annually required item, in accordance with Texas Education Code 31.1011. Local school systems are required to annually certify to the State Board of Education and TEA Commissioner that students have access to instructional materials covering all the TEKS of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for all required subjects except physical
education. Additionally, school systems are required to certify that they protect against access to obscene or harmful content and comply with the requirements of certification under the Children's Internet Protection Act. Um, any other law recommendation that protects students from obscene or harmful content. The certification for 2016-2017 survey includes section for school systems to certify that they meet this requirement. So, the attachment includes um the core areas, and I had to go in there and list everything that we use to teach those core areas for the different grade levels, and everything that we're looking at for 2016-2017. So, some of the things are um what we're rolling over that we've used in the past, and then some of the things are new. Um, specifically under K through 5 math, you will notice that it does show the
Bonnie Curriculum with Region 4 being our group provider, and that is because we did get that classroom grant that I shared with y'all last time. So, that is something new. And I would say mostly everything else, including with their purchases a second, is things that are required and on the state approved list. So, TEKS resource system is where our staff goes to to find out what TEKS, what do we teach what TEKS weeks, okay? Um, and then the other items, um, for example, Houghton Mifflin, that's the state adopted textbook. And then it became part of your supplemental materials. So, your supplemental materials are things that are on the approved list by the state that then we use to help supplement um, the instruction. So, once this is approved by the board, it is then submitted
to TEA, and that is what allows us to get what we call our EMA funds, which is the funds that are provided by the state to purchase the instructional some of the instructional materials that are on the approved list. So, they're not money, but they do give us some money for instructional materials to be had. Are there any discussions? Do I hear a motion? I'll make a I've got a motion and a second. I move to approve the certification of approval of instructional material as presented. All those in favor? Everybody. 6-0. So, at the last board meeting, I brought to you all our award of the new plan, which is the last of four grants, which is a grant that's provided um, it was a competitive grant that's provided by the state to help improve
construction and leadership. So, Learning is a TEA approved provider for the Texas Lasso grant, the Learning Exploration Support Opportunities grant. As a state approved provider, they offer support with the Blue Line curriculum, um leadership, and creating an effective instructional foundation. Learning Forward supports Texas districts in building instructional leadership through the strategic planning, coaching, and professional learning communities. As part of the Lasso grant, okay, 70% of that $533 must go to a TEA approved provider. And that is to ensure that we are getting aligned materials, aligned curriculum, aligned professional development, and aligned coaching. So, basically, TEA says, "We're going to give you the money, and you're going to use it to pay somebody else." And then that somebody else is going to give you everything you need to be aligned with what the state wants you
to do. Um so, the contract that the board will approve tonight, because of the amount, it is over what I can approve without board approval, um is with Carnegie to be our approved provider for the LIT grant. So, I have a question. What was the original total? I think it's 300 and >> 26. 73. And it it's a lot of personal support. We worked with Carnegie this last year, and their people are here, you know, and I think that's what I like about them so much, is that they came, they worked with the teachers, they worked with talked to Mr. Jimenez, they provided guidance, they provided support on how to best implement the curriculum. So, it's they were high in personnel and in providing us people in person to be able to you know instead
of doing things through through Zoom. It was they they they brought their people over. Yeah, exactly the same. All right, we have a motion. So, who has motion and who has a second? We have a second. Vote to approve the Carnegie Library contract through the last fiscal year 2019 as presented. All those in favor? Here better. It's a motion. I'm going to go over two words. Two budget amendments. Budget amendment 0401 basically what we do is our annual realignment around this time and we present it to you by function. And so, we not only realign functions, we did have to do let's say a little bit of adjusting to our revenues. So, we work with our revenues first and adjust those and then realign the functions. In the end for budget 199, we are not
touching fund drawing. We were able to align it with lots of work and input in the few days to to do it within. And we feel this will also lead us into the end of the last quarter of the fiscal year. We'll continue to monitor and then if we need to bring another one, we'll go ahead and bring another virtual meeting in May. So, that's budget amendment 0401. Budget amendment 0402 is strictly related to the operations of the district child nutrition fund. And we did the same thing. We realigned it. So the fund not only did we get an additional milk grant this year, we were able to account for that, but the fund also did well as of the end of last year's audit and um we didn't get those results until after we
had prepared our budget. So the general fund ended up subsidizing the food service fund by less than what we had originally proposed, which is something that also helped out previous budget amendment while we were able to do that. So the food service fund, as you can see that $3,700 $3,700 operating total $63,000 were actually sort of a savings in that fund that we were able to put back in the general fund again aligning with All right, is there any discussion? On the first one, does 0401 need to be decreased in your revenue because we're not getting that money? Correct. So in the first one, 0401, there were several things. Um the interest rate dropped a little bit and so from the summer appropriations to what actually has happened, we're not going to meet the appropriated
revenue that we had. And so we're dropping that a little bit. Um we also had some money in there for the E-rate program that we didn't file that application this year because we have an extension until next year. Um that was basically a book entry, so we removed that. And then we had a lease that we didn't follow through on either. Again, just a book entry, so we removed that one too. So all of those tweaks and alignments was basically basically what happened with the revenue line. All right, do we have a motion? I'll make a motion and I'll second. I second. I move to approve the budget amendment BA0401 and BA0402 as presented on the budget. All. Number seven, business and finance, 7A. This is the monthly report. Um if you'll note the comparison
March this year and March last year, we are pretty much on target. Our revenues are a little under this year, that's just a lagging base, but we'll catch up there. We already received some of the tax collections causing that. Um and then the expenditures are pretty much at about the same or maybe more. And again, the the budget amendment that we brought to you is also to keep those functions aligned because at the end if during the audit the auditors find that our actuals exceed budget, we it's it's a gain. So we have to watch it very carefully. So we'll probably bring back another one this year to make sure that our functions are aligned. 7B. Check registers. That's our usual check register report. Our transactions over $500. And we try to give you the
exact reason for that transaction, but always something that we will take questions if you Questions on this? Move that on to item eight. Superintendent's report. So the next several years these days are just going to get busier and and with all upcoming um and and even past events. So, we ended ended the sixth of the not the sixth week ended the sixth weeks of the fifth sixth weeks was April 2nd. Um required parental conference day was April 2nd. So, we had that's part of one of the new um Senate bills that we were required to have parental conference days. We didn't have a real thing to our calendar, so we can start early out. But, the calendar that y'all just approved does include now specific parental conference full days for us to be able to
be in compliance there. We had our holiday for uh Good Friday and Easter Monday. Um and then area one I play on April 10th. Gilmer won the area championship, but we'll be moving on. Um upcoming events, we cannot believe it, but star testing is here. Um so, we begin testing this week with our English language arts our reading um 3 through 8 and English 1 and English 2. And that will continue the following week with math and sciences and social studies to make sure we get all our our testing taken care of. Um our UIL regional academic meet is next week on the 23rd and 24th. Our goal is to have the school finance community awareness meeting on April 23rd. We're working on putting a presentation um together. Again, just a high-level review of what
school finance is all about. Um any community members want to come out. Um there is no school for students on uh April 24th. It is our last curriculum planning day, and that's where teachers just to kind of prep for whatever needs to get finalized any of your testing, EOYs that need to happen, and look at the schedules and make sure that we're prepared for that. Our fine arts banquet, please put it on your calendar. It's on April 28th. You are all invited and encouraged to attend. Um we have an off day in our Monday's message as well so that we have um specific times. Uh first grade parents meeting will be on April 29th. We have our school board election on May 2nd. Teacher appreciation is May 4th through the 8th. Um May is filled
with meetings for y'all. If you all haven't started to book your calendar, it's almost every Monday and Thursday in May. Um so we'll start with May 7th um with our election canvassing and that will be our first budget workshop at 5:30. May 8th we'll have our kinder roundup and have our regular board of trustees meeting on the 11th. Also put on your calendar the FFA banquet. Um I'll ask for RSVPs but everyone is always invited to attend. And we have another special called meeting on May 14th to continue with budget planning. Um we will have our art show in here as we do annually on May 19th. Our second special budget workshop will be on May 21st and then a little bit further on ahead just so you um those that are eligible to attend
um the SLI will be June 10th through the 13th. So it's going to get real busy real fast. And so a quick question. May 28th. The 28th, 29th. 29th, right. 29th? Yes. And the sports banquet? The um I know. I know. The um The sports banquet they didn't give you a date today, did they? They haven't they they have been back and forth. They gave me a tentative date of May 17th um which is a Sunday. They were really trying to get the community center but the community center is booked every weekend. So it's back to being at the tiger um gym which if you go back 3 years ago I think was the last time we had it there it was crazy packed. Um it didn't Yeah. It would Seating will be limited. So
they did let me know today that they're looking at May 17th. But if they go with that date, then it is going to be they're going to have to limit the amount of tickets available. Um but I do not know if that is finalized, but tentatively May 17th. Okay. Pursuant to Texas Government Code 551.064 the board will go into closed session at 7:20 p.m. Thank you all. >> Mhm. >> Okay, the board is reconvening the open session at 7:31 p.m. We do have a couple of items. Um 10A. Is that 10A or 9A? Uh 10A. Oh, it's 10A. I'm here. Over in 9A. We can do that. Okay. I'll make the I'm going to read it? Yeah. So, it is the recommendation of the administration to hire Allison McCollum and April Elrod as certified teachers
for the 2026-2027 school year. I make a motion to hire Allison McCollum and April Elrod. Second. Matt makes motion and Jesse seconds. All those in favor? Everybody One abstention. I guess so. One and none against. And then 10B. Uh I'll make a motion to accept uh Ms. Temple's letter of resignation. Second. So, Matt makes motion and Jesse seconds. All those in favor of accepting resignation submitted by Lydia Temple effective May 29th, 2026? Everybody. Meeting adjourned at 7:32 p.m. Huh? I have a lot of stuff to do. Office. Got to go to break.
