001uh if you look at the scores we can say that our kids here at bracket are pretty much in their intermediate and advanced level. [clears throat] Okay. One of the things that is uh looked at to be able to exit the program is to have an average score of advanced high. So um it used to be that all four areas needed to be at advanced high the listening, the speaking, the reading and the writing. But um the state went ahead and said, "You know what? Just give me an advanced high overall average." So a student can have an advance and three advanced highs and they would be able to exit the program if they pass the star assessment. So there's different components. They would have to pass the star assessment, average, and advance high. And

002then they would have to have a teacher recommendation in order to be able to exit the program. So the next four pages same information but it's just broken down by by each domain. Again you have the same information for speaking uh 50% at intermediate uh 30 and advanced zero at high which which is the hardest component for next page you have the listing again you have the same information but now in the bar graph. So beginning at 10%, intermediate 35, advanc at 30, advanced high at 25. You'll see the reading component. The majority of your kids are at the intermediate level for reading and uh you see the writing on the next page. So that one we do have a little bit more of the advanced rating there. Okay. So that is a telus assessment

003which is mandated by the state and again that is part of our accountability. Um we also administer a local assessment and it's called the last links and it's basically language. Okay. Uh over to the page that says English as a second language program spring 2025 end of the year oral language assessment. Uh this is the loss links local assessment and at this time when we administer this usually happens at the end of the school year. So from the beginning or from the time that we administered the Telus which was 20 students and then at the end the year we had 17. So three of our students probably left the district. Uh so you can see that this this assessment measures more of a social. Okay. You can see that out of all grade levels, we

004tested [clears throat] 17 students and two of them came back as limited English proficient. And then if you look at the very last column, fluent English speakers, 15 of them. So kids speak the language, they speak the social language, they have a hard time with the academic language, which is passing the STAR assessments, passing the TEL test. So that's why the scores differ. [clears throat] Okay. One of them is measuring more the academic and this one for lots of links is measuring more the social language. If you look at the next page spring 2025 star reading test um and you will see that six satisfactory performance three were unsatisfactory. Uh the writing we used to test it on its own but now it's embedded with the reading. So we have zeros there. We didn't count

005that one. And then the ELA, we had reading and now we have an ELA. Well, this is an EOC high school test. There are seven that qualified for that, two unsatisfactory. Out of the whole group, 11 that qualified for a math test, seven were satisfactory and four were unsatisfactory. Uh we had five in the science area, five satisfactory, zero unsatisfactory, and then there was uh two that qualified for a history test and uh that was two. I'm assuming it's one and one cuz it was 50%. Yeah. Okay. So that that was a title there. So it's one one satisfactory and unsatisfactory. Any questions on that? [clears throat] Okay. So out of the years that I've been here with practice, nobody has been able to exit the program. Well, this past year, we've had one student

006fall. Okay. So we do have one student that exited the program, met the criteria which is passed the reading assessment advanced high average teacher recommendation to exit the program. We don't require any more supports. We are required to monitor the students after they exit. We monitor for two years. Okay. So this student is going to be a monitor student year one. And then the next page you'll see the enrollment for this school year and uh the numbers did increase. We do have a total of 26 students but we need to consider that two of those I mean 26 are denials. What is a denial? A denial is a a student that uh their parents refuse um don't want the ESL program for for students. Okay. uh we do have to monitor those students because they

007were identified to be uh ESL students or you know recent immigrants that are that are being denied. So two of the 26 are denials and then way at the bottom and you'll see the counts for each of the grade levels. I think the one with the highest number right now is kinder with four students and pretty much every grade level has two uh two one student. If you look at the very bottom there is uh two students that are monitored for a year. I said that there was one that exited but we inherited a student from another district that qualified to exit the program. So when I pack and I have the meeting on that student uh we also included the student that comes from a different district uh because that student met the criteria

008to exit program. So this year I'm going to have there's 26 students two of them are denials and then two of them are monitor students because they made the criteria to the program. And then the last page um we are required by the state to uh to ask for a waiver if we don't have ESL certified teachers. Uh in bracket we we made it work where every kid is instructed by a certified ESL student. Uh if you look at the elementary uh campus out of the students and out of their teachers their reading teachers we have a total of seven teachers out of the seven four are not certified and three are certified. Okay. So what happens then we do have Mr. Gonzalez who has a schedule uh class during the day where he can

009pull out those students. Okay. So if a student is with a noncertified ESL teacher, Mr. Gonzalez uh pulls that student out to work with the student during the day or during ACE uh tutorials at the end of the school day. Same thing happens with secondary. Uh we are in need of five ESL teachers. So out of the five, three are non-certified and two are certified. our our numbers there dropped a little because last year we had some that retired that were ESL. Again, if they don't have a certified teacher, Mr. Gonzalez has that period where they can he can pull the kids out to to the kids. Okay. Any questions? >> I was just wondering about the testing where they have to speak into a microphone. All right. It seems like that's one of those

010things where uh just familiarity with the process might show a big result. All right. So, what we train our kids is before they speak they write their name >> and then I ask them to speak at least um 90 seconds into that microphone because if they speak less than that it's not it's not going to be enough to to be rated. So there are some things that we can teach our kids to to kind of help them >> yeah meet that standard. >> Test taking that seems like more like a test uh the test taking skill than necessarily pure English. Correct. >> And we do so they have home practice. So the state gives us a platform where the kids can log in and they can actually practice just like the test. >> And it's

011just like the test. And I think that that is real important because the kids get nervous. And so sometimes it's more nerves that are hindering them than the actual language because I remember being very surprised at how kids scored because I could hold a conversation with the student in English, but yet I didn't understand why they won't be able to pass the test. And so watching them take it, it was a lot more of a nervous issue than anything else. So some of the strategies that Mr. minutes has been put in place like having them write their response first um has helped um significantly. >> Um I do have a couple questions. So is that testing prompted on questions or is it recited because you said they practiced before? So are they given questions before?

012Oh, sorry. Yes. >> Uh usually it's a release test, a test that they uh took the year before. So it's a >> they're very similar. So it may be like um I don't know just order something at a restaurant, you know, how would you order something at a restaurant? How would you request um something, you know, and so um they just we have lots of release tests that have the different prompts. So we just do our best to try to prepare them for different possible answers. So, if you think of it kind of like um the star writing, we never know what the prompt was going to be for the star writing, but we knew it was persuasive or we knew it was informative. So, the state does provide us with some guidance so we

013know kind of how to to steer them and best prepare them without knowing the actual prompt that's going to be on. >> Okay. Um Matt, I did have another question. So, you said that they have a practice opportunity by speaking into a camera. a microphone and practicing. Do you have you noticed that students are utilizing that tool or I mean are they practicing beforehand? >> They do and they they do have a a difficult time speaking in front of others. So one of the things we also do is we try to separate them and give them the the space they need to kind of hold up. So they do have opportunities to practice that. um speaking is is one of the hardest components. Not only because uh they have difficulty, you know, finding the correct

014word, but they're also because they're they're afraid that someone's going to make it. >> So, uh yeah. So, >> sorry, but I think that having Mr. do the pull out >> helps significantly. So because they're usually our ESL students are the last that want to respond in a general setting because of that fear of I'm not going to know the word or I'm not going to know how to say this. So then when they're pulled out to go with Mr. Gonzalez, it's more of a one-on-one small group um with students who are in the same or similar type learning situation. And that's kind of my question is are those students that are pulled out scoring higher or doing better than those that are being taught with the rest of their classmates. >> Yeah. Um that

015would require some research. Yeah. To to see how they're performing as far as the ones that are stay in the classroom and the on Mr. >> So it sounded positive that we have the educators to back up the students. Are we expecting that more of them uh exit the program? Like are you expecting them? You said it was one that exited the 26, but we have more educators to step them through. Am I understanding that? like more one on I and I I don't know if we'll ne necessarily see an influx in um students exiting the program to get an average of advanced high is very challenging and so um and I think it it's not I think that I I think that we're seeing quality educators I think we'll see the pull out um

016I think it just depends a lot on where how the kids come to us and that's kind like at the beginning like where they they they come to us as beginners. Well, then the goal is that they move up to intermediate and then you know and then advanced and then advanced high. So, it's kind of like it's a tiered system. In my experience, I don't never and Mr. Correct me if I'm wrong. They don't normally go like from beginner to advanced. So, it is it could be at minimum a four-year process to come in from beginner intermediate. Um, the other thing that the four that we got in kindergarten are highly fluent Spanish speakers. So those kids sometimes make more progress because they are fluent in Spanish and so they have language versus students that

017come to us and their primary language that they've been exposed to is Spanish, but maybe they haven't been in either school system, so they don't really have either language. And so those take a little bit longer because they don't they come to us with with no language really. So it's hard to say that we're going to see more exit. I think we're going to see more improvement. I think we're going to see more kids going from one to the next year to the next year. But it is it is a it's a pretty lengthy process to see kids exit because they also have to pass STAR, right? And so if they're not reading on grade level in English, right, then [clears throat] that becomes a challenge. They might be able to speak it and even

018understand it and can hear it, but reading it and writing it are usually the last two things to come. >> That's a goal for the kids to progress every year and not regress. >> Do you have um the parents of these students more active in understanding the objective and practice at home? And actually some of them request you know do you have a place where we can actually send them to the library cuz I don't know if they still have a program we do but yeah last year we had two that came to us recent immigrants and they didn't qualify for the program because they have a full education in medical and uh they also took some classes over there that were English classes. So we did have two that didn't qualify and they were

019recent immigrants and I remember one of the parents was asking me how can I learn the language so >> yes they they do show the the desire to to pick up the language >> thank you >> all right 5D >> so 5D is our second six weeks attendance report so um like the first six weeks what I did is I went ahead and I included the previous years just so we could see what the trend is and so um it's you can see that we we have a lot of areas where we are slightly moving up. Um prek showed a great improvement. 94.2 is where they were last year. 96 is where they are this year. So you can see my little arrows if we showed some improvement or we showed some drops. So kind

020of a little bit of of a mix between um ups and downs. Um again we've kind of learned and focused on it's not just about the attendance percentage itself um but rather what's happening with ADA. So um last year our ADA at this time was 480.26 26 and this year it's at 454.57 even though we made a slight and I say slight because it was like.3 um increase in attendance. So we were at 95.2 overall last year and we're at 95.55 this year. Now there is one error that I wanted to point out. um the refined ADA for our bilingual students. Um TEA is having some um submission errors and so um there's a there's an error that we received that TEA isn't picking up via sender um numbers. So our refined ADA provided ESL

021shows at zero and it should be more like 20. [clears throat] So the 454 will go up. Um we just don't know exactly how much it'll go up. Um but again the drop in ADA isn't because of the drop in attendance. It's because of the drop in enrollment still. >> All right. 5E I added um just because we do have the NHS induction ceremony coming up and so I know that sometimes there's um questions about well how did the kids get selected so I did include um from the extracurricular handbook that included the NHS constitution um so this comes from the national chapter if you look there it says article two and it says membership and it shows shows the process that should be used. Um if you continue to go down to article three,

022it's the selection of members. So um what we have done with section one um is to ensure that the chapter the selection of members for the chapter shall be by majority vote of the faculty council. So it [snorts] is done by um a vote a majority vote. So basically the faculty council I believe has five people. Yes, >> five people. Um, they review the application, they review the documents that were submitted and then basically they vote. So if three out of the five faculty council vote that this student is a candidate or would be a good member, then that student is um inducted into the NHS. So things that are reviewed are academic records um that are notified based on their GPA. Um there also Mr. Himemenz provides the faculty council the discipline records. Um

023then the students submit documentation showing community service and leadership and then all of that is reviewed and our ceremony is scheduled for Monday at >> November 18th. >> Okay. So Monday at 6:00. Um so that induction will take place. The process is um I think being wrapped up this week, >> tomorrow >> being wrapped up um tomorrow. Um those that were eligible candidates um if you uh is any student who had a GPA of 92. So this is the same membership guidelines that we've been following. So I just wanted you all to have that information. You said that was November 18th at 6 p.m. >> Yes, sir. >> 5 >> 17th. Sorry. November 17th. >> November 17th. >> 5F is the teacher incentive aotment. And so basically I'm just bringing an update to the board

024tonight on where we are with our planning for the teacher incentive a lotment. I shared some of the information we used previously but now we've kind of put a document together just showing the phases of what we've been doing. So um that this first section of this document shows the stakeholders committee. So the stakeholders committee is led by our consultant who is Cali Potnik um and she's from Cander Consulting. Um they specialize in doing the teacher incentive a lotment plans for districts. Um and then you'll that we have representation from both the secondary and the elementary from core areas to special ed areas to CTE areas. Um we've had already a couple of sessions with our stakeholders um to review the plan um to review the the process pro process of of getting into TIA

025you know the the goal between behind the teacher observation um how we're going to look at student growth these stakeholders have met to decide how we're going to weigh different things and of course all of this with guidance from Caner which is Cali because she the plan has to be approved by TEA And so um the goal is for her to guide our stakeholder group to create a plan that will be approved by TEA so that way we can move forward in the next uh phase. We have another meeting scheduled for this coming Friday. And so we do meet with the stakeholders. Um and again just components that we looked at the teacher appraisal system, the waiting um student growth measures, who will be in that first cohort of eligible groups, what will the teacher

026observations component look like? And then what will the designation decisions be? And then lastly, when we get our approved plan, we'll be looking at the spending plan. Um the last thing there is the estimated annual allotments um of what a teacher could possibly earn uh through a designation. These are all subject to change because the state identifies the estimated annual aotment based our economically disadvantaged group. So this is based on the numbers from last year. So every year they're tweaked just a little bit. That's why there is a range. Um if you look at the last page, page three of three, it shows you basically our timeline um to becoming a TI district. We're in year one. Okay, so year one is building that strong foundation. We partnered with Cander to develop our plan and

027then it'll be submitted to TEA by April 15th. Once we get our plan approved by TEA, then we go into year 2, which will be 26 27 where we start looking at data to collecting data to see where we would be, what teachers need to do, who would qualify, where we stand. And then year three is when then all the data is submitted and processed for validation. and then a report is provided to us of who is eligible for um the payouts and then your war of course to keep them in code. So I think our teachers are getting excited about it. Um it has it's it's a lot of work in creating the plan but we've got a good team and they've been willing to put in the work. Um they have had to

028miss their planning days and their teacher work days and give up some time to be able to be a part of this group. Um but again I think that we've got a good group teacher representatives 5G >> 5G is a new program that is coming up that's called well it's not new but I guess it's opening back up again. It's called adsy. Okay. And so what we're doing right now is just collecting some information on ATSIE. And ASI is the additional day uh school year program and it's built for kinder through 8. And so basically what happens with ATSIE is that there's ways that districts can create calendars that would generate additional ADA. Okay. So that's how we get our funding for for students. So the first step was Miss Price um myself and Miss

029GSA attended an AXI Zoom um just to learn a little bit more about would this be beneficial for us to look at our calendar and see if we wanted to make um some changes right into our calendar. And so it is something that we're going to um there's three different ways that you can implement ads. And so the three different ways are basically going to a year-long school. Okay. uh 12 month school year, which I don't think we're quite ready for. Okay. Um there's also what they call an inter session program, which I feel like it's a little bit like when we were doing flex Fridays. You kind of have certain days throughout the school year where you're targeting specific kids that would generate fun. And then the last uh method or one of the

030other methods is through the summer program. So extending their school year through their summer program, which is something that we already do through PACE. But the very very first step in order to qualify for any of this extra funding, we have to have at minimum 175 instructional days. So currently we have 171. So we're short four days to even be eligible for ATS. So, what we're going to start to do is look at possible calendar drafts that would add the four instructional days making us eligible and then seeing what would an inter session calendar look like? What would a summer school calendar look like? And then now we take some of that data and say, okay, if we did it, it would generate x amount of dollars, which is great, but what is it cost

031effective? Because then we're bringing in teachers to work more longer contracts. So if you're going to generate this much more revenue, you're going to have to have this much more expenses. Do we truly generate additional funds or does it just cut even? So today I just wanted y'all to have some information to review on. Um we're in the very very preliminary stages basically getting some knowledge, building our knowledge bank of how this could possibly work for bracket ISD. um we'd be looking more if you look at the page that says ask the implementation options we'd be looking more at option one or option two not the fullear redesign um and then there was some pages that were provided by tea that gives a little bit of a better um example of what those two types

032of calendars would look like. Um, so again, just giving y'all um some notice that there may be some talk about going extended year, not year round because that that'll quickly get out that oh, we're going to year round school. We're not going to year round school, but we are looking at some potential opportunities to bring in additional ADA by offering either extended summer programs or >> [clears throat] >> Is there current contracts based on the contracts that we have? >> 187. >> Yes. So, our current teacher contracts are 187 day contracts. >> And is that 187 instructional or 187 total? >> 187 total. So with students it's 171 and then the extra days are like the August the PD days, teacher work days, plan days. So they're the days without students >> 5h is a

033grant that I will be applying for on behalf of the district. Um, it's so we got this year a grant called strong foundations planning and in my Monday messages I've been sharing with y'all the Carnegie math program and the Carnegie training and all the things that we're doing for secondary math and one of the reasons we've been able to do that is because of the strong foundations grant funding. So TEA is putting out the second part of this grant. It's a competitive grant and this time they're calling it lift. Um but it basically follows the same that strong foundations planning and so we will be applying for this grant to try to expand the development of MA of our math program um districtwide. Um just again some information currently we were awarded the strong foundations

034planning funds are being used for secondary math. We would apply to lift to add the elementary component. Um I'll be working on that application. It'd be by December 3rd and it has the little timeline there. Um, TEA does anticipate that there will be between 350 and 475 school districts that will apply. Not everyone will be awarded, but we were awarded last year. So, I'm hoping to be able to get us that funding for this coming year. Um, we'd be looking at an award of about $235,000. >> Um, and that would be announced probably in in February. So again, just bringing it to your attention that I will be applying for the lift grant for our school district >> and this is to help improve our curriculum and instruction for Isn't there some reading it's been

035it's been a while um in regards to requirements that are coming down um regarding the math teacher instruction teachers who are teaching teaching math specifically have to be certified. I know we're doing the um since our our math teacher in secondary retired we we are currently utilizing that online module >> just for just for the calculus. >> Yeah, it's just for the calculus class. We were we have teachers for all. >> It's just one. >> Yes. And it's a certified teacher. >> And that the one the one delivering that instruction is certified in Texas. >> Okay. >> But I I think I read something. I'll send it to you. >> And there probably is because the in the new legislative year, the district the state put something out that by the year 2030, they want

036to have every teacher certified in the state of Texas. So there's going to have to be some support programs um in order to help us to get there. But that was something that was passed as >> I know there. [laughter] >> Sorry guys. So hopefully we'll get some new some good news from the lift grant and we'll get a little bit >> of that pot of money that is being put out there. >> All right, five I miss and >> so five I tonight we have Mrs. Luna here. Mrs. Luna is in her first year of running the ACE program for us. So usually it's this time of year where um she gives us an update on where we are in our ACE program. Uh, good evening. Um, so this year we have 70 kids

037already enrolled. That's really exciting for me. We got our 70th and I think it's changed a little bit on there. Um, as of today, Mr. C, who has been working with our junior high students, um, he started a star eighth grade math class and so he's working with our eighth graders now. But um we're adding every day. It's it's just really exciting. Um I wanted to kind of add to uh what Mr. Gimenez was saying about the ESL and Miss Diaz had said. Um one of our ACE tutors is Mr. Gonzalez and he works with our ESL kids in the afternoon for ACE. So um they are getting serviced through him also. We have about nine I think nine or 10 ESL students who are enrolled in ACE. So they are getting those services um

038at that time too. We had um a few of the Spanish speaking families moved in this year for elementary and um they're like three or four of them were kindergarten but they were the elementary students and like Miss Diaz was saying earlier they've never been to school. this is their first year so they're really total spoke Spanish speaking and they are all enrolled in ACE. So getting that help from Mr. Gonzalez. Um here are some of our engaging academics. Um this was from that first week before we started breaking off into our cool things. So that's some of our academics that we have. We do service uh kindergarten through 8th grade. So improvements this year. I wanted to do a um have a theme for us this year and our theme this year is game

039on. So I made brackets and between the grade levels and they've been competing against each other on who is going to improve the most. So right now as we our brackets every month I check and so our our last two are kinder and second with the most improved grades and this is u for reading itself is where I'm getting that from. So before we go home for Thanksgiving, I'll check it again and we'll see who I are going to. Whoever wins gets a gaming party. So um and then our junior high students have shown really good improvements. Um this is from first six weeks to second six weeks grades. Our 67% of our A students, not everybody, just our students who um come consistently improved in math. 75 improved in the last six weeks in

040reading. [snorts] And then our fourth graders also showed improvement, 57% in in math and 86 in reading. So, we're really excited about that. Um, every month we have to have a parent meeting or a family night, some some kind of homeschool connection. And, um, this was our first one. This was our game night. And we had a really good group. I think we had 30 members of families come and join. Several of our our Spanish speaking families came and they had a ball. We played hungry hippo and so there's some of them working together and stuff. Kind of got all out of hand there, but anyway, >> we do that every We do that every month. >> Parents are our best parents and they they show up too. >> They're so involved. It's awesome. Sorry.

041Um we also have our monthly birthday celebrations I get in the cake and then we recognize them and sing happy birthday and we celebrate with them. So that was our last two months. Um kids in action. This is um this is at the first of the year. We wanted to have them get to know each other. So this was one of the things they did. They had to choose somebody and interview them and go down a long interview questions and stuff. And then they had to stand in front of everybody and present their findings. So it kind of gave them some public speaking and they were kind of out of their comfort zone some of them but um they did really well on it. I think that's great because I remember when I was in

042school, the only public speaking we had a class was speech and that was in high school. >> Was high school. >> Yeah. Like starting young. >> Yeah. If I get a chance to talk in front of each other, you know, >> and that's some more of them. >> I even had like that one right above it. Ano go right there. Um I remember who that is. Mariah, she didn't want to stand up by herself. So, when I stood up there with her and she was so, >> and then this is just their team building thing. I had to make whoever got the highest tower with the index cards and it was different grades. They had teams, as you can see, the winners right there. We had a junior high. We had a little kindergartener. I

043mean, it was great. So, they got to know each other. It's just like a family. I mean, the older ones help the little ones. It's really great. This is one of our art projects. They did tie dye pillowcases where they could do their name on it. And we have arts and crafts for one of our enrichments. Some more. And then we have a gardening club this year. Miss C uh really was excited about doing it. So, we kind of took over the FA 4 or whatever the cafeteria. And this is kind of what it looked like in the beginning with all the weeds and then they planted vegetables and they added some and so this was right after they weeded and all that. So they had vegetables growing back there. They're doing really that was

044one of our character traits. This was following directions. Miss Pena uh was doing our character traits and so I think that's Tom and Go or something go and I had to follow directions. So that was one of her her activities that she did. And then we have quotes. Um I'm having to turn in a story of impact this month to uh the state on our school. And so I had to include some of the quotes from uh parents and kids and stuff. So these are some of them. Um this is from a first grader's dad. And after the first 6 weeks, he put her and uh her brother in there and she he came up one day and he said, "My my daughter loves coming and um he can already see her grades uh improving."

045So he was very happy that they had put him in there. And then uh what I like most about the community is that they care about the kids. And this was from a fifth grade mom. And then another grandma who has multiple kids in there. uh in the program everything's well explained and the way parents get to interact with their children is awesome. So that family time every month that they do and if they ever want to come up and just sit with their kids they can do that too. The kids um they love it. This year we had cuz some of them were partnered with the um youth league sports and stuff. So they leave during enrichment time and they go and do their practice. Well this year some of them didn't want to

046leave. Can we just stay another hour? >> But um they're really liking it. So, >> okay. We have a cooking club this year. We called it Cub Cafe. So, so far they made homemade cookies when we had our fall festival and we had those out for our parent night. They made mac and cheese, yogurt parfets, and pizza. And I think this week they're going to do cheesecakes. So, they had fun in that. There are a lot of other things. We do drones. We do um STEM activities, a lot of more uh a lot more enrichment and stuff. So anyway, I think we have great tutors and our goal is to have every all the kids improve overall and hopefully get them on reading level by the end of the year. So >> So Miss Luna

047has really done a great job with the program and ensure that the academics and opinion enrichment come first. So, um, you see the kids show up and they want to get their work done and they want to do a good job to show that they're getting their curriculum and their instruction done first before they go on to the fun activities. So, I I feel like she's done a really good job kind of shifting focus a little bit. Um, so that way there's fun involved, but the academic concentration is is there. So, congratulations. You >> are fantastic job. I just wanted to comment that one of the things that as a parent I notic we get away from things like the the cooking and you know our kids get so saturated with phones and to see

048those programs and to see them giving back to what helps them thrive in the long term is is really encouraging. This is the first time I've been on the board. I've got to see the development like you being here and I don't know what to compare it to honestly. But it's very encouraging. So, thank you for your hard work and I hope to see that progression as as you keep. >> Thanks. Now that you brought that up, um I did send out a parent survey and we do um have contact numbers and things on the parents interest because we can pull those into our parent meetings every um month and we've had questions about budgeting, about getting their GED, about parenting classes and stuff. So, I've been in touch with Miss Watson in the library

049and we're hopefully going to get some workshops going for the parents who come in. So hopefully >> so 5K is just a follow up from last board meeting where there was um I shared with y'all the aotted votes that were given to the district um from the CAD in order to be able to do our recommendation for our director to sit on the board. I did get a response, an email response, and um he basically let me know that it is based on the levy and that the change may be because last year there were um three seats open versus this year two seats open. Um I just I left it I I left it with his response and um basically it doesn't change the it doesn't change how many votes we still have the

050highest number of votes. it doesn't change where we fall in the category of of votes. So, I didn't feel like we wanted to press it any further. I didn't feel like we needed to call legal. Um, I think that at this point, you know, our recommendation is just to continue with the number of votes he says we have and we'll move on with that. [snorts] >> I concur. like there was no ill question. >> So 5K is our safety project update that I had shared with you. Um phase one started back in February and so we are seeing some completion now. If you scroll all the way down to page two, um you'll see some updates beginning in August. And so August 11th, um the a fencing project was approved by the board. Um September

0518th, we did revise the vestibial project. Um September 18th, we held our first pre-construction meeting for the A fence. Um September 23rd, we went back to the vestibules and looked at those quotes. um se September 30th was when the a fence project uh started and now we have concluded the a fence project and so that was officially completed and signed off for by the engineer on November 5th and that has been completely paid off um for at $41,39 which was exactly the budgeted amount. So he did stay um at budget and that payment has been made. Um, now we'll move on to the vestibule project which you all approved the DLP as the contractctors. Um, I received the contract actually today from DLP um to review and we have scheduled that pre-construction meeting and I

052put it in the in the email from today. I want to say it's November 13th. Um, so we'll have that pre-construction meeting and then hopefully they'll get started that week of um Thanksgiving break. They'll start some work. So Mr. Himenez, your building will be busy pissy busy department reports by the department reports are all there for y'all to review. Um we'll take questions if there anything >> do they meet with you your department heads or whatever your directors >> so we >> reports so we meet on Tuesdays for administrator meetings um every Tuesday um and sometimes we just switch it to Thursdays but we do meet Um and then they receive an email from VTO letting them know that their department reports are ready and to be available in case y'all have questions on those

053department reports. Um the only one um who is not usually here at meetings is cafeteria because that really falls under Miss Ga. So Miss Rea submits that to MissA. So, is do you are they all supposed to be here? Is that a way for public? >> Yes. Yes, they're all supposed to be here. Um, usually if there's a director that's not going to be here, they'll email me and then I will let y'all know that they're not um if they let me know that they're going to be here. >> This is more operational. >> Yes. Anybody else having computer issues? >> Connection. >> Mine keeps me off. We had internet issues all afternoon >> and electricity. Yeah, our elementary was actually out. >> I was all in that side of town. I was out of

054power. >> All right, moving on to number six. Action items 6A number one. >> Okay, Amalia, you're up first. >> This one is a request uh for food service to seek board approval to wave participation in the summer nutrition program. Um for the reasons in the attached letter which mainly are transportation, lack of service and participation. Um the approval must then be sent to the um shack and by no later than the end of this month, food service will work in collaboration with the ACE program to provide some meals to students in in the social. So it is a recommendation of administration to approve the a resolution as attached to request a waiver from the Texas Department of Agriculture for BIS need to opt out of the summer nutrition program. >> Do I have a

055motion to accept administrator recommend? Do I have a second? >> Second. Any discussion? >> I just have a quick question. Just clarification. So we're going to opt out of this on nutrition, but we're still going to offer it from the A students home. >> Yes, because through the au for the AC units, the summer school and the whole program uh supports that summer reading program. >> It's not through the national school. >> It's a different type. 6B. >> So 6GB is um our title one migrant education program plans that need to be approved. So at the beginning of the year we did not have any migrant students, but that's not um necessarily uncommon. They usually join us a little bit later. um we have had a significant drop in migrant students um but we still

056are required to have a plan for them. So the first one basically is um the action plan. And so there's a goal that we ensure that identified services are provided to migrant students and 100% of eligible migrant students are um provided with services. And then the second attachment is the migrant education program SSA and the specifics of what we do to identify and recruit. Um it lists our individuals responsibles and the timelines. Um and again it is a requirement for the eleas to include all the program activities, service plans and guidelines in the migrant specific section of the DIP. So this ends up being added to that DIP as an addendum. Um it is the recommendation of the administration to approve the migrant education program to be included in the migrant specific section of the

057district improvement plan. >> Do I have a motion to accept the minister recommendation? I'll make a motion. >> Makes a motion. Have a second. >> Yeah, I'll second. >> That second there discussion. >> I just have one more question. >> Um, this is dated for 819 2025. So, it was initially completed on 1920 and we have to approve it by September 30th, >> because on here it has timeline by September 30th. on some of these. So, we would go back and put the board approval date. >> So, if I just want to make sure the timeline, um, no, we'll go in because we didn't have any students at that time. So, when school started, we didn't have any migrant students. So, if you want to make the motion to approve it with the change um

058that it was noting that it was approved um November 10th, 2025. >> Yes, I'll make the motion to approve that it was I'll make the motion to to approve with the change that the board adopted >> adopted it November 10th, 2020. >> Yes. Thank you. >> November. 6. >> So 6 is the um board operating procedures. Um so we did revise the board operating procedures to align with legislative updates as well as some clarification that was discussed when we had our team of eight. Um we also did send it to our label team to make sure that it was in compliance. So it is the recommendation that the administration to approve the board operating procedure revisions as presented. >> I have a motion to accept administrator recommendation. >> I have a second. Any discussion? All

059those favor. >> Did you not raise your hand? I did. >> Yes, I did. But I read something here. Can I [snorts] >> Okay. Board officer elections are held banally. >> That's what I was about to >> during the November uniform election. They're not bananally. So, um Unless it's >> last meeting. >> Yeah. So, I think that's why it's highlighted in green. Um because if we're going to go to the November, it is going to be bannually. >> Oh, that wasn't >> You were a surprise. >> Okay. >> Right. >> Correct. And that's why it's back on the agenda with a resolution for us to approve it or not approve it or discuss. So if you want to table this and come back >> table that >> yes I agree and that's why we had

060Thank you for that's why we had it highlighted in green because we knew that that was going to be a different action item. So 6 C is going through 10. >> I was just stating the the rules were in that line with the legislator. >> All right. 60 table number 60. So 60, we finally got policy update 126 from TASBY. So if you look at 61, those are the legal policies. Um although legal policies are not adopted by the board, TASBY recommends that the board reviews them since the review of legal policies may result in um discussion and agenda minimum reference to legal policies. So again, the legal policies we have to adopt because they were part of legislative session. What Casby does for us is they ensure that our local policies are then in

061line with the legal policies. So all the local policies that you see under 62 were provided to us by TAS. So it wasn't something that I created or Miss Betto created. Um it's actually a numbered update that comes from TASBY to ensure that our local policies are aligned to legal. We know that this was a big legislative session. Um if you remember I was providing all with that template kind of showing all the things that we were still pending um on the legal on the policy update. So those are all the um local policies that were impacted by the legislative session. Um so it does say that TAB policy service will issued the number update in response to changing legal authority or to implement structural change to improve the quality and the layout of the

062subscribers localized policy manual. The numbered updates occur two or three times a year and the policy services uh which is TASBY examines our policy manual to determine how the update changes affect the manual. Uh the results of the localized update packet unique to the subscriber. The typical localized update packet contains appropriate legal and the adoptable local model policies consistent with the legal authority. So it is the recommendation of the administration to acise or delete local policies as offered by TASBY policy service for consideration and according to the instruction sheet for TAS local policy manual update 126 and then it listed all the things that came with the legislative update. Um, be local board meetings. Beed local board meetings public participation. CJ local contracted services. CJA local contracted services background checks and required reportings. CLLE local

063buildings grounds and equipment management required displays. CQB Local Technology Resources Cyber Security. CQB Local Technology Resource Resources Artificial Intelligence. CSA local facility standards safety and security. CB local facilities construction. DBD local employment requirements and restrictions conflict of interest. DEEC local compensation and benefits leaves leave and absences. DFBB local term contracts non-renewals. DH local employee standards of conduct. EP local instructional arrangements and lesson plans. EFA local instructional resources instructional materials. EHB AF local special education and video audio monitoring. EIA local academic achievement grading progress supports the parents. FA local parents rights and responsibilities. FEF local attendance release times. FAC local wellness and health services medical treatment. FFB local student welfare crisis intervention. FF local student welfare student safety. FFG local student welfare child abuse and neglect. FO local student discipline and GKA local community and relation

064community relations conduct on the school crisis. I have a motion to accept administrator's recommendations. So move that makes a motion. Is there a second? Just a second. Is there any discussion? >> [clears throat] >> So to vote on board, add, revise, or delete local policies as offered by TASBY policy services for consideration and according to the instructional sheet of TASBY local policy manual update 126. All those in favor? 6E. >> So 6E is our revised calendar. So we're required to have 75,600 minutes. Our calendar currently had um additional minutes. Uh we had 77565. Um so due to the um state band competition we that ended up being a non-school day um because we were concerned about attendance and people being out in order to attend the um band competition. So we used our extra minutes

065to cover that school day. So on the revised calendar now it shows that um November 4th was a teacher work day, non- studentent day. So we wouldn't take a hit with ADA for having poor attendance on on that day. So it is the recommendation of the administration to approve the district calendar with the provision as presented. >> I have a motion to accept the administrator recommendation. I'll make a motion. Jess makes a motion. I have a second. Yes. That second. Any discussion? >> So yes, I have a question. So we made up the we made up the time. uh the extra minutes. >> So this built in already. >> So if there's another event that comes in the future, we will not be able to do the same thing or we will. >> Yes, we

066have four built-in days. So we always we always pad our calendar to have a few extra days in there in case of weather closures, delayed starts, you know, um just kind of whatever comes up. So right now we're we're at 77,000 minutes instead of the 75. So, if you divide that by 3,600, um it still shows I think that we have um 4.22 extra days. So, it's on the calendar and it's there in red. Um we have 1,965 extra minutes. So, 4.22 extra days still built in. >> So, it's still we have a staff total days of 187 of what you stated earlier. instructional of those 170 days is instructional. And are those additional days built into that 170? So, we're required by the state to have 75,600 minutes. So they changed it several years

067back from calendar days to minutes because that way that gave schools flexibility of start and stop times um start and start for school days. So as long as you had 75,600 minutes then your calendar was incomplete and we've always gone over the minimum. So um again we probably have to have five days over and now we're down to four days over. All right. All those in favor of accepting administrator's recommendation to approve the district calendar as presented. >> 6F 6F. The Texas Tax Code 6.03 03 mandates that the chief appraiser of the county appraisal district prepare and distribute a ballot for the election of the district's board of directors by October um 30th, which we did receive um the ballot. Texas Property Code 6.03 says the governing body of each taxing unit is entitled to

068vote must determine its vote by adopting a formal resolution. The resolution must be submitted to the chief appraiser before December 15. Um, so when when we received the um recommendation to put somebody on the ballot, it was the board um who the school board who decided to um go ahead and add Mr. Jesse Dasas as a nominee. So tonight we decide what to do and how we want to split our votes. So we have 994 votes um that we can give to one or divide by three or um determine how it is that we want to apply our vote. Um it is the administration's recommendation that the bracket ISD school district designate its 994 votes to Jesse Dasas by resolution for the Kenny County appraisal district of dire board of directors for the 2627 term.

069Do I have a motion to accept administrator's recommendation? >> I'll make a motion to accept the administrator's recommendation to appoint designate the 99 votes to claim a second. Any discussion? >> I'd just say that I've had a couple conversations with folks down at the CAD and their uh anticipating this this vote. We're looking forward to it. All right. All those in favor of the board approving the resolution related to the Kenny County appraisal district director's ballot, I further move that a signed copy of the resolution as approved should be attached to official minutes of this meeting. All those in favor? >> That's still majority. >> So six one. Yeah. >> And then in addition to the resolution, um, Mr. Teras, there is an acknowledgement of duties of members of the appraisal district board of directors.

070Um, the appraisal district brought up this acknowledgement of duties at their last um, CAP meeting. So, I just wanted you to be aware of the official duties. Um, you will officially sign with them um, I understand in January. Um, but this doesn't happen ahead of time. Yeah, I was going to ask you one. I I viewed the meeting the last meeting and I saw something about this acknowledgement of duties. >> So, okay. Curriculum on my part that was 5 years one extension [clears throat] >> 6G special. >> Okay. So 6G, at the last board meeting, um we brought to the board the possibility of moving the May election to the November election. Um it was discussed and basically decided that we would move forward with the November election. However, once we brought that to our

071legal team's um attention, um they let us know. We asked the next steps. Okay. My board said yes. So what do we do next? And so we were advised that the next step would be that it would have to be done through a resolution, not just a board vote. Um and so then Miss Ivanis did reach out to their office and there was a resolution that was uh created and then it was explained to us that it's not so basically we our board members would be going into two-year terms to fouryear terms. Um, and so everybody's terms changes in order to be in compliance um, with that. So the resolution stated that, but I felt like I wanted to make sure that everybody understood and could clearly see what it meant to for every board

072member specifically. And so the first attachment shows um, what your previous um, term expiration would be and what your new term expiration would be. um because we would be going with a bianual November um election. So [snorts] the May 2026 extend for 6 months, May 2027 extend for 18 months and May 2028 extend for 6 months. We would no longer be 322 but rather a 43 um split >> with elections every other year. So um it would be significant changes. Um again some of the things that we previously discussed was board members coming on board in May and you know being having to deal with budget >> and all of the newness of it. Um there's also a part of me that feels like four years versus two years um does lead to sustainability, okay,

073and a little bit more understanding of board life and you know what it's like to be part of a school board. Um and just even in the role of superintendent the first two years you're just kind of learning so much and it's not until year three and four that it's like okay, you know, of that strong knowledge and foundation. It just happens to be that this is the transition board. So, it makes things a little bit longer for everybody else. Um, however, if there are concerns, um, as mentioned at the previous meeting, if we're looking at positions, anybody in a board member position does have an opt out and And so you always have that that you can do. Um so I would like to recommend that we move forward um with approving the resolution

074to change bracketized state trustee elections to be held bannually in November and adjusting the term changes as presented. All right. Motion to accept the admin recommendation. So, right, Matt makes a motion. Do I have a second? All set. Ricky discussion time. >> I'll wait. >> What? >> For I just the way these last two elections were, it it just looks bad in my opinion that it looks like either us or the district is trying to add, you know, Yeah. >> And it I don't know. And if I think if I would have known this beforehand, four years is a big commitment. And I think you're also going to have a lot of people not run when you tell them you're shutting up for four years. 3 years is tough enough. Uh I don't know. And

075and yeah, they can leave what they want, but you're adding 18 months a year and a half to two individuals that Yeah. I guess you could say here's my letter and then what do we go back to what election? Then you have to go back and take you know >> it it depends if somebody does resign so you can appoint until the next election. >> You don't have to appoint if you still have a majority. I think that's what their rule is now. the board would have to vote in order to if someone makes a motion to appoint or recommendation to appoint the board still has to vote on that appointment. Correct. But to your point, Jesse, yes. Um, hindsight when I went home, I'm like, I needed more information >> and I got now

076I have the information. I don't discuss anything after the board meetings. with school board um because it's not for me to discuss out there. Um but I was thinking about it and um how long has it been? How long have we had the May elections? >> Forever and a date. >> Yeah. >> Okay. to your point is what is the the optics? >> I think that's a fair criticism. Um but on the other hand, there is something to be said about having elections in November and dovetailing with with uh the better uh voter the greater voter participation that that would entail. So we don't don't have a comparative handful of voters making all the decisions on in May. >> But it's worked like that for years. And to Jesse's point, it's the optics. >> Well,

077I'm saying is a case where optics direct. >> Um I do not have a sense of what is going to be a touchy subject. I'm not eager about doing an an extra 18 months. Um but um you know I'm willing to do it. I mean we've got uh this House Bill does it uh what kind of teeth are associated with it? I'm not familiar with it. >> So House Bill 3546 just basically gave us the option to make >> to make the move. Uh we do have if we are going to make the move it's by December 16th. Okay. So, if it's not done this year and say it was pushed back until next year, does it still follow these same? >> My my understanding of it, which may not which I probably would want

078to reach out to Hannah and just ask her, but my understanding of it because she gave us the deadline of December 16th, is that if we're going to make the move because of House Bill 3546, it needs to be done by December. >> But I think just generally speaking, changing an election period. The resolution has to be um submitted by December. >> By December. That's why >> But I guess what he I think what you're asking is if you next year on the November cycle, >> you know, this year coming up here, it's May, right? And next time it's in November. >> If you don't choose to make that change now, then you won't be able to do it till >> and it'll be whoever's on the It'll be the same same thing. >> I

079don't think the extension bothers me as much. It's the fairness for the voters the voters who voted as the constituents and if it's their if it's their practice or their sure customary is that they have the board elections in May. >> Um then you're shifting it on them. I don't know if this is something that can be community discussion. I don't know. >> Is there an opportunity to do a survey >> to see if the community wants to report to you? >> To see if it is I mean an option to get an opinion from the community. >> Sure, we do. >> I mean, it's just an idea. >> I'm not affected as much as you all. Well, I'm uh I think that uh I I'm willing to say let's I don't know, put something

080out. Maybe put something out. Just let uh residents know that this is a thing and look at doing it two years from now. >> Will it muddy the waters even more? I just go back to this is Briaville is a small community. >> Elections for board have always been in Maine. changes in all these easy I know there's there's things that you need to change and there's things that why are we changing and this you know we talked about the budget last time well when you're elected in May you have a budget and we're already that far in into the budget and there's you know that uncertainty of how does the budget work um but I mean the same app those that have November elections are sitting there for the first at SLI and they're

081like, "Well, I wish I would have had this. I wish we would have had a May election to have been part of SLI." So, it it's a double thing. Double >> What do you What do we pay for the machines? Roughly >> when we rent machines, it's about three grand. >> That doesn't include um for the workers and for the materials that we have. And so going to this we would have some savings. >> 9566 because we ran election as a district only last year. >> So 10,000 >> to do it just >> just for us >> and would you split that? Would they allow us to split? >> They will they will divide it but it's going to be between us and the county because the city will have their own election and we

082the school district has we have to bank off of somebody. So that's why we have a May election because we have to bank off the city. If we go to the county, you have to bank off the county by annually. So that's why it will change. You can't you can't run your own election. You have >> so you either go with the city which is year or you go with the county that is viable. So you have to have school district has to have a election with either the city or the council. >> So if the city they split the 10,000 like that's just >> 10,000 9,000 we join when we have a joint election the city the city has their own cost we have our own cost. >> So that cost will stay the

083same if we went to November. [clears throat] No. >> Yeah, because we don't get on we don't share ballots. >> But if we went in November, we would if we went in November, we would be on the counter >> and using the machines >> and using their machines. So, we would no longer be renting their machines because they are going to be conducting an election, but we will share the cost as far as um the election workers and and if he wants to have us share half of the cost of materials, then that's where we fall. Sounds like it would it would be a savings. >> Well, I also think about the number of voters. Would the number of voters increase if we changed it and have more participation? Because running, you put, you know,

084you put a lot of effort, everybody does vote when you have to push to get people to vote specifically for school board. Yeah, >> it's a bit challenging as we all know. In this case, they would already be there voting for someone else and it could benefit voters. >> I can tell you based on my experience, the city and the school elections always the always the lowest number track that you actually spoke to um someone from the legal department. Was there anything else that I didn't share with them that that was shared with you regarding the change? No, ma'am. Um, if you want to make the change, you have to do it now because with our May election coming up at December 16, by December 16th, I have to start posting all the postings for

085our May. >> So, you have to either make a decision today or December 8th when we have our next meeting. >> If you've decided, choose to switch. I guess for me it's what Matt and Kio, they're the ones that are getting hit with an additional not just a little, it's it's a lot the 18 months added to your that, you know, the 6 months I get it, you know, but I I didn't see, you know, we knew the six months last time we talked about it and then I looked at it and it said 18 months Yeah. >> And that's why I was like, but I'll put it there in red so it can see exactly what >> like I said the time extension to me it's neither here or there. But it's to me

086it's the constituents not having that >> ahead of time and them not having that option. What if they did vote for me last time and this time they don't want to vote for me? It's only fair to them that um you know what I mean? It's like I'm taking away and I'm taking away their ability to vote when I'm doing like [snorts] >> I can't be selfish. >> I uh I think that there's a tax there's cost savings. there's a uh voter participation game. Um I think the only reason to vote against this would be because uh you don't want to be accused of trying to pad your own installation board. So I'm going to go ahead and abstain from voting. >> Is there a is there an upside or downside? I can see on

087the it go from a election instead of the 322. That's I mean it's >> Yeah, I think there's just a little hiccup here in the inter but you can work out what I'm saying. >> I know there was there's a role that Miss Morrison to court back in the 90s the 90 west I can't remember I don't know the specifics of it so I don't want to be quoted on it but I know there's some there was some legal action rules about full voting cycle and having a year versus I don't know the specifics. Well, it technically hits um districts on my >> it's a mild thing, right? >> Yeah, I think so. >> That could cause a lot of trouble for United schools. I don't know if this >> but again I don't know

088know it verbatim so I don't want to be quoted on it but I know there's something there. I can go back and do my um homework on it. >> So, I have a suggestion because we have until December now that we see the extension and how it affects us. Matt and Clalia, maybe think about what you would be comfortable with if the public I mean how you would like to present that because I think being public and speaking you're showing your concern and transparency and I think the optics >> well I know how I'm going to vote >> to think about it. I think with all this and and reading I mean know and then you're saying We have the option to table. Um, our meeting I think is December 8th. Um, I can have

089Hannah available by phone if you want to have more questions. That's an option. That's an option as well. Um [clears throat] if y'all don't feel comfortable yet making you know voting um one way or the other we can wait till December 8th I don't see a problem of waiting my opinion I don't >> you could also email me with specific questions um and so that way Hannah could be prepared with responses um if there were specific question questions that you have. >> All right. So, so all those in favor of tableabling until December 8th, [laughter] raise your hands. One, two, three, four, five. No, I'm against >> vote. >> Well, don't you have to resent the two motions you had on the table first? >> The motion was to approve. >> Okay. So, I resend

090the Matt what first and Ricky second and we'll table 6G until December 8th. this is uh regarding the first quarter investment report for the year. So not listing quarterly view investment officers need to prepare and submit uh to the board a written report of investment transactions for all funds covered by the public funds investment act for the preceding reporting period. Um and we bring this quarterly to you and it is attached for your review. As of September 30th we have cash balances at bank and trust and the investment pool. Um for the first quarter at the bank we had interest of 296 [clears throat] at Lonear with uh average rate of the bank at about 2.3 and Lonear at about 429 with a year-to-ate interest rate interest of 48951 and again this is through September

091most of our collections do come in um after the October month and we did get quite a bit collections here last week. So it is a recommendation of administration to accept the first quarter investment report. >> I have a motion to accept administrator's recommendation. >> I'll make a motion to make a motion. I have a second. Jesse seconds. Any discussion? Do you have a ladder with the Lone Star? >> They're all in the government overnight, which is the less risky because there's not a lot of um [snorts] Let me look at that attachment. So the government notice has most of it in agencies. So those are the least riskiest. So we haven't put them in the corporate overnight or the cor corporate overnight plus mainly because they have too much commercial fee and public investment

092fund does say that they have to have a dollar to dollar value and sometimes those instrument lose value overnight and they end up less than a dollar. So we didn't that risk we kept it there and we could actually change our investment policy to just say that it doesn't currently because it is up to the uh investment officers to bring that policy change. We could invest in those two but just to keep safer we've always kept it at the government. All right. All those in favor of approving the first quarter investment report July to September as presented. Yeah. 6. >> Uh no budget limits. I'm sorry. >> Okay. J. So um tonight uh we had asked for the superintendent evaluation tool and January date to be brought back to today's meeting. Um no decision was

093made at the last meeting. Um so if um a motion to approve the evaluation tool as presented um which is all three sections or um any changes that's up to Mr. Mass. Okay. So, emergency evaluation tool has presented. He is that motion. Makes a motion. Have a second. Jesse seconds. discussion. So, we need to figure out if we want to do parts one, two, and three like we did last year or if we just want to do parts one and two this year. Historically, it's been one and two. >> My first two years was one and two, and then last year was one, two, and three. So part one is report on students performance, part two is key performance indicators and part three is other management responsibilities. the assessment of ongoing responsibilities. >> Two two

094is usually our goals that we set for the superintendent. Put your goals in there and Part one is basically the state of the district that I provide to you all in the taper report. It's just the data presentation. And then part two is the one where you'll get a little little bit deeper and you have the the actual goals. So it has the goals that we set and then indicators that we talked about and then I'll rate and provide comments and then partition [snorts] part it took five hours and it was daytoday operational stuff that we you know the past the board said that, you know, we we were here just to do her goals. Uh, but I've done some that they do do maintain, but some of those were hard to find cuz you

095have to back that stuff up with data, not just >> right >> hearsay, you know, >> you have to have a lot of that stuff we couldn't find. >> So, You couldn't really rate it without knowing. >> Is this a standard tool that's used? from >> so for some reason felt part three should be in >> and if you will usually like that's why it's on the agenda for at first districts to look at because they give you the three parts but then districts have the option of which parts to to utilize. >> Are we discussing this right now? >> Yeah, we're in discussion. Okay, just double checking. So, as a as a new board member, would I have um this information first before I grade it? I mean, would I be able to look

096up answers or ask for the answers? >> So, section three, no, not not to me. So, that's why Jesse made the comment right now that it took five hours. So, parts one and two, I do. So part in the I do in the sense that I provide you data. So for part one I do a presentation called the state of the district and I present that in December and then hopefully the state will provide the taper report. It's still not out but it's scheduled to be out. Um so then I'll provide the the the taper report and then in my state of the district I usually be very specific about my goals and put my goal one. This is what John wanted me to do. Here's my evidence that I was able to do those

097things. So when you evaluate me on parts one and two, you have the data that I presented. And then I think that sometimes part three has just been seen as um subjective. So you y'all look at this, you review it, and then you you rate you provide a rating, but I'm not not there for the part for the part three. I don't provide anything for part three. >> Some of this overlaps with part two specific. >> It's going to be recommendation that we do part one and two. >> See what how it usually cuz you're asking is we get these and we start working on them >> ourselves after her presentation >> we pick a date [clears throat] come together collaborate put it together and then presents it you know >> so I personally would

098like to add three I do feel like part of our due diligence as board members. But that's just my opinion to be able to evaluate all three since it is on there. That's one for all three and one for two. Would you like to see this? We have two motions on the table for this. We have to receive it. >> Just send your motion and then we'll see. We'll figure out which one if we do >> or vote on the first motion and then you can vote and then if it doesn't pass, you vote on the second motion. >> Okay. So, the third the mo the one that's up here right now. Just so I'm understanding this for all three. >> Okay. >> Wait, he made a motion for Part one and two. >> First,

099right, that was your motion. >> Yeah. >> But this particular item is for all three or we voted for one and two. >> The initial motion was to approve the superintendent evaluation as so we have to >> Okay. So we now I get >> Okay. So all those in favor for one, two, and three >> As presented. All those against. So two yes, four no. So, back on the table. Do I have a motion to approve the superintendent evaluation tool only utilizing part one and part two? >> I make the motion to approve the superintendent evaluation tool to part one. >> Makes a motion. Do I have a second? Ricky seconds. All those in favor? >> Okay. >> Discussion. >> I'm sorry. Discussion. [clears throat] >> I just want to say this is the only

100thing I want to add that I looked at the goals for two part two and they do include some of the stuff. That's why I went with the one and two. Yes. They over. >> Yes. which gives us an opportunity to rate. >> So at this point I'm allowed to vote again. Correct. [laughter] >> Okay. All those in favor of part one and two. [laughter] I need clarification because it was presented a certain way and then it was switched. >> Okay. >> Um but six 6J discussed dates for January summitative. I just don't want that to creep up on y'all and not have a date. >> So um typically I brought it to y'all at the last board meeting for y'all to look at your January date. >> Typically it's um I'll look at it.

101Um >> what is the meeting? The board meeting will be on January the 12th. >> So, we have to meet the >> So, usually it's like the 5th and then y'all would y'all would you like the 5th? Do the evaluation and then will meet with me like the sixth to give me the evaluation tool so then I can we can discuss it on the 12th. So, that's general timeline but I don't know if the fifth works for everybody fifth or six and then I can do this. It can be presented to me. My head are right. >> Um, I think that Monday, but I want to be here for the tour. >> The fifth is good for you. >> Tenatively, does anybody else have issues with January 5th? >> Not today. All right. like tentatively

102January 5th >> pass 530. >> Can you do 5:30? >> Yes, I can. >> Okay. >> All right. Song 6. So moving on to seven 7A >> 7A. >> So that is the U monthly budget expense and revenue comparison report. And when you look at last year to this year, we're pretty much on target. And as I mentioned earlier, we did collect a good amount of taxes. Um but it isn't reflected here. It'll be in the November collection. So that revenue balance in November will be about $4 million less. Um and then expenditures similar. I was just going to say that was one thing that came out of the last cab meeting is that they apparently they had a schedule of collections. >> They didn't well for this October collection quite well. Remember last year

103about this time we were worried because collections were >> behind behind. So um it was it was nice to receive that. collection check >> and 7 B that's our monthly report on the 500 and above transaction reports All right, moving on. Eight superintendent reports. >> So, mine um are all the dates and I've been trying to that's what's going on. I've been trying to really keep y'all up to date with my Monday messages. Um because there's just so much. But um past events, we have the state hand competition, the ball festival. Um the one of the new laws requires us to do fentinol training for parents and students. So we did have that training. Um Deputy Copeland did that for us. And so he did for junior high. He had one session focused on junior

104high and any parents that would want to come and then high school and any parents that would want to come. We ended the weeks on the 31st. Um we did runner attend the cross country state competition and then of course the state band competition. Upcoming events tomorrow is our Veterans Day program. So that has been up on our website. Um it's also been on Facebook. So we do open that to the community. Jones Elementary puts that on for us that they're fourth and fifth graders do presentation. So that will be tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. if anybody's available. On Thursday is our Thanksgiving lunchon. Um we start at about 10:30. go till about 1:00. Um we we've got a great plan of maps and all. Um I think this year we're doing it a little bit

105different. We're going to have um the elementary students in the Tiger Gym. Um and then parents will go through the Tiger Gym, pick up their kids, and then go in and eat. So we're excited about a new little process that we're putting in place. So hopefully that'll run a little bit smoother. Um we will not have a traditional Friday morning pep rally. Instead, we're doing a communitywide football playoff. And so it's um on November 13th, Thursday at 700 p.m. Um Friday is no students day. Um it's a curriculum planning day for teachers. Um however, several of our teachers also have other planning going on. Uh we have the stronger connect, sorry, the strong foundations math program that will have a meeting. We have the teacher incentive a lotment teachers who will also be in a

106meeting. So, lots of instructional stuff going on that day. Um, that evening we do have our playoff game which is at Veterans Memorial. Um, but if you're going to attend, make sure to get the address because if you look at Veterans Memorial, there's a Veterans Memorial in Edgewood and there's a Veterans Memorial somewhere else. So, this is Veterans Memorial Jetson. Um, National Honor Society, that date is incorrect. So, National Honor Society induction will be on the 17th and it will be at six o'clock. So, I'll make sure to update you guys on on that fall break. Everybody's looking forward to it. It's right around the corner. And then we'll have our regularly scheduled board meeting on December 8th. Now, the schoolboard summit that's being provided by region 20 um that has opened for registration. Registration

107ends on January 9th. Most of y'all showed interest in wanting to attend that summit. So, I'll ask Miss Ivanas to send an email out to you all. Um that way you can confirm registration and we can make sure that everybody's um set up who wants to go. >> I think it's only three days, right? >> Yes, it is February 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. >> And that would be instead of And that's in Bernie. The description says the summit provides an opportunity for new and established trustees to receive credit for all required training >> and it's in again from school board summit the service. So we attend that one in the summer month. I mean, I do it. >> I mean, you don't want to say >> this is a little more >> I think I

108think I think depending on if the thing gets extended or not, that's what I'm [laughter] >> find. [laughter] Registration doesn't end until January 9th. We'll let you know that next month. I might not need those. >> All right. Governor's code 551.074 close session at 8:13 p.m. Order recain in the open session. There is no action items to be taken. Meeting is adjourned at 8:27 p.m. You got to sign this.
