001good afternoon chris cooper here superintendent of clearwater schools with an important announcement due to the deteriorating weather this week in the forecast predicting subzero wind chills and precipitation on thursday and friday all clearwater schools will be going to a remote learning environment for thursday and friday so we're anticipating regular school on wednesday on site as we have been all year and a remote learning environment for thursday and friday february 11th and 12th if you've not already received it each building will be sending out specific communication about expectations and a little more clarification about what this means at each grade level in our district if you have any special circumstances please make sure to call the school office or email and let us know if there's anything we can do to help during this time extracurricular
002activities scheduled during thursday and friday will be determined as we get closer to that time we will be working with the other schools that are involved with us in those activities and see what we can accomplish and what we need to cancel meals will be provided for thursday and friday for any students who desire to have those they will all be packaged together and the pickup time for those meals will be thursday at 11 a.m to 12 30 p.m the pickup location will be in the roundabout behind cims just as it was for summer lunch if you're interested in taking advantage of that please email our food service director brenda hastings at bhastings at usd264.org um some things that we can accomplish by doing remote learning this thursday and friday is one thing we'll keep
003on track to meet the required hours for each school year and not have to go longer into may or hopefully um worst case scenario into june so this will help us avoid that it also will give us a good uh trial run with the day's uh preparation to be ready if we ever have to do remote learning again this year due to quarantines or anything like that so our goal is to keep everyone safe and to also continue learning as best we can in this environment i just want to thank everyone for your flexibility reach out if needed to your schools to to let us know if there's anything that we can do i'd also like to remind you that monday february 15th is a no student day as well it's on the calendar as
004a teacher staff development day so there'll be no school on monday as well we're hoping that that gets us through this maybe historic stretch of really cold weather and gets us back on track next week again let us know if there's anything we can do to help thanks for everybody's flexibility and take care stay warm out there
