May today's team building training serve as a reminder of what is truly important in our role as schoolboard members. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Amen. Father, son, holy spirit. Amen. and our Primmont ISD vision

fostering community of excellence, high standards and limitless student opportunities. and our vision I'm sorry theory of action if primistd empowers campus leadership with earned autonomies to implement strategic methods of effective instruction and identify high performance campuses while agreeing to operate in pursuit of the board's do not come goals and within the board's constraints then primmont ISD will be able to accomplish the board's do not come goals and I don't think there's anybody signed up for reform Okay. The first item on the agenda uh Northstar governance information discuss revising local policy FNF student rights and responsibilities investigations and searches related to extracurricular inclusion and local policy de local board meetings. Uh I I do want to spend a just briefly a little bit time on this because I know that Dr. Ramos has a lot to

uh do we have to do today. But I I I need you to give me some input on what was in the packet. And the first item has to do with going to go down. It's just information. uh if you you uh in your packet you saw a letter that uh Ben Castillo sent uh there are questions that I asked him and I know this was in October but there's been a lot of going back and forth on some of these issues and the the last one is the one that took a little longer so that's why I had not brought it to the board. Um the first the first question that I asked him was uh uh trustee Um I asked him to give us some kind of guidance on um we've had a

we had a situation a couple years ago where a student u female requested that she she be placed on the males ballot. Um and she was and she actually did win. she was she represented the the the junior class at the time as a male and that brought up some controversy and we have nothing in policy. So that's one of the things that I asked Ben Gastio to to kind of give us uh some guidance on what we need to how we address this issue. So that was the first question I had for him. The second question this year we did have a student who had a who failed the drug test. uh but was allowed he was on homecoming court we had no policy so therefore he was allowed to participate and so I

asked him to give to give me some uh guidance on that as well number three that I have there that's not what I asked him number three was actually the last part of the packet uh and that has to do with video conferencing calls so um the first one the one about homecoming ballots he said yes, homecoming courts and similar recognitions are local, social activities and districts have discretion to set mutual structures and eligibility criteria. So if you go down to the second page, uh he does provide four options. Option A, u genderneutral structure if we want to restructure and just call it homecoming royalty. I hope you all read this. I don't want to have to go through every single thing. We have to decide which option we want. Do we want A, B,

C, or D? uh because it needs to come to the board for a board meeting for a first meeting. I don't know if this one will be ready for December uh but for sure for um for January. Uh we need to decide we need to make sure I just think we need to have something in place when it comes to this and we have prom coming up as well. you don't know sometime, you know, for prom. Um, but we need to put something in policy when it comes to to homecoming and prom and the whole, you know, gender identity, sexual identity, whatever. So, he provided four options. Again, I'm not going to read through all four because we should have already read them. Um, we just need to decide which option as a board we

want to go with. Personally me Johnson I would much rather go with option C because that is tradition that has been tradition that's just me I don't know what the board is is wanting to um so we're not going I'm not going to ask you right now at this point which one you want but please make a decision as soon as possible as to which option you unless you do have an opt unless you have a decision right now you know we can move forward and you know I know we we need to work with workshop right now. Did all did all of you read the options A, B, C, and D? >> Okay. So, which option do you prefer? >> C and thank you for calling. >> But I mean, I I really don't

I I would have thought, hey, I don't care, you know, to me. let them choose what they want. >> A would be that. Yeah, that that would be and it does say he did recommend that we we kind of go with what our uh at the very bottom he did say what local uh what did it say? Uh okay once okay uh each option is viable the district's choice should reflect local values and operational practicality. local values I think prim for me I'm thinking tradition would be C uh and the difference between sex and gender sex is what is identified what the student identifies in on on record and gender is social maybe female but but identify as a male so that's the difference between gender and sex I had I had to ask that

>> well I thought the same I haven't >> that's got both. >> That's what >> he had both. >> I think it should just be what they're registered >> as what the state does. No, >> I know what it used to be. open now kind of >> well actually I think the issue was when we had when we had this issue come before us at that time um um when we had >> push >> when when when this issue came to us at that time there was that um lawsuit with the Biden administration at that time between title N if y'all remember and so that's why the attorneys at that time couldn't address the issues It was still up in the air. I think months after I think it got struck down and so now

it's more concrete like this. It's either one. >> Okay. >> Yeah. This incident happened. I'm here. It was >> what? >> Two years ago. I think >> three years ago already because those kids were they were juniors. >> Um >> so I think at that at that time it was harder because could have faced problems federal level but I think now it's either one or the other honestly I think I mean not a but or c well I just need to make I mean we're not can't vote on it but I'm not just think that way something that but right now the consent the majority say what uh seat okay uh item number the second one was the one about the uh and that one's easy all we have to do is and he did

tell us here uh number two and I'm looking at page I don't know what page I'm looking uh Texas districts commonly confine student drug testing consequences to eligibility under FNF local Um if P1 wishes honorary recognition to track those in ineligibility windows to complete this method is to process FNF local. A student is ineligible for honorary recognition during any period the any period the student suspended from extracurricular activities uh after a positive test or while assigned to DAP expulsion. I think that's pretty clear. Uh this avoids creating a new punitive scheme and keeps treatment uniform. So I think for that one we would just have to that in on policy >> because we right now we have nothing nothing at all that has to do with if the student just is dirty >> which means

they'll be if they're positive they can't participate. >> Well that's already yeah that's already under UIO rules. Yeah, they can't participate. But uh homecoming court, that is not uh that's a that's a privilege. That is not that's not considered an extracurricular activity for competition. That's why we need to put something in in policy. Okay. We UIO rule. Yes. If they test dirty, if they're dirty, they cannot participate. And then of course, uh we do have the 30 days or 60 days, whatever we have here, but there is nothing in polic that says about anything about recognition uh ceremonies whether it's like homecoming or prom or whatever. So, we got to make sure we put it in policy. >> And I think I think that one just pretty that's pretty clear. >> Or or do you

disagree with that? >> But we can put it in policy to if they are dirty, >> they cannot be on court, >> right? That's that's what this is. >> If they don't play football and all this positive, >> what I don't think they should have the right to And that's what this is saying. So I think are we pretty much set on that? >> Yes, >> that's good. Then the third question what I asked him is the first answer I gave you was not right and I had to go back and talk again. So if you go to the very last it says page six attendance by the group conference call. I did ask him for for help uh because our board operating manual or procedures manual is very uh basic very simple when it

comes to asking for zoom links. So I did ask him for input to to to give give us something to work with. And so everything that you found in the packet everything in red is what he sent me which we have we won't have any of this in our board operating procedures. And of course, that would go under uh for board meetings. Um I'm not going to read everything. We should have already read everything. Are there any questions? Are there any concerns that you have for for this item? You know, uh this one I would like to bring it for the December board meeting along with the other for the first reading for the governance policies that Dr. Ramos and Ben worked on. Uh is there do you have any questions or is there any

feedback on on implementing something like this for our board that would be part of our board operating procedures? I don't know Miss Austin I've been doing all the talking. Um, well, I was going to say this is going back to the the one right before about homecoming. Whatever we have in policy, we just need to make sure that we have other documentation to support that. So, for instance, the student code >> in the handbook and then making sure everyone understands that doesn't mean that they can't participate forever. It's just until whatever that time frame is, >> right? Okay. >> Or until so if they happen to if it's homecoming season or plum season and they have a dirty test, then depending on time that's designated >> either policy or um legal or local policy. So

we you all would have to take that into consideration as you're deciding what you want to adopt. >> And what about this one about the video conference calls? I know you weren't here uh but we we have had situations where we had to uh members have called for a zoom link and I think sometimes it's been like right before a meeting. So it's kind of we we had no parameter set in place. So I think I mean this is why I think we need to have something in place. what you know how you feel about this. >> No, I read through it and I I do believe that it's important. in support of whatever you love what you love to have. >> I'm not a fan of it, but obviously because I'm one of the

the frequent the frequent users, but I will say I think it's like overboard, you know, if I'm a state council, we don't even have we're not baby this much. Uh, you know, and we're talking about a governor's, you know, council or like you can watch all our live videos. At that point, there's like no restrictions and And at the same time, we're already creating a Zoom link for every single meeting. So the link's already there, right? It's not a matter of it's just a matter of I guess maybe someone requesting it. Again, we're already going Zoom. We're already we're already recording it. It seems like it's a matter of, you know, someone's personal preference on the board or, you know, maybe it's not convenient. I don't know. You mean like if you come in the

last >> I guess it maybe it's a problem with connectivity, a problem with hearing but that shouldn't hinder a board member's ability to participate. It's not fair uh is from where I'm I'm coming from only given the circumstance that the Zoom link's already there. It's not like it's creating you know an issue to say hey I need you all to create a Zoom link send it out do all of this. We're literally talking about a link that's already created and up and running, you know. >> But however though, if a board member calls like 10 minutes before a board meeting, you know, you know, you calling me, then I'm not having to call down either or Becky that >> No, I agree. I just I know. >> Yeah. And that did happen, I think, two

meetings ago where I couldn't I couldn't attend the meeting. Um, and I was going to miss it until I did realize there was already Zoom link out and that's why requested. Um, but most of the times it's all been but I do agree time at least. Yeah, you want that flexibility because changing >> most of the time though it has been the same day where cold in the morning but yeah it is it is a matter of kind of last minute things where I'm not 30 minutes to drive back this way I mean for like you know matter of 10 15 30 minutes that goes off the whole entire schedule for our community to come back and so in order participate just and like I said, I'm just comparing what you're talking about like on

the state level stuff. We don't even have like restrictions about this because the link >> well if he gave me this I mean I take it that you know some school districts are following something like this so I mean >> we need it because we asked for it. I mean, >> yeah, I'm I'm just saying I just I don't know. >> I think it's okay if they let them up that morning. >> Yeah, >> I think morning of >> morning, but not >> four businesses. >> So, is the question the whole the request and deadline is that what the problem is? >> Item C, letter C. Yeah. At a minimum. >> Yeah. The deadline, >> you know, >> 24 hours or what? >> I mean, it's hard to say, I want to make my flight,

for example, >> right? >> You hit a snag like, you know, I said I was going to be there. That's unexpected. You know, yes, you were going to make it. All of a sudden, something happened. >> I could be saying I'm in the valley and then I can't make it. I'm like, damn, I got caught up with something else. So, you know, maybe the date of >> you know that that would be >> but you would think that we let the technology director know instead of having you know >> and again just because the links are already created. So I mean do we do we move into a matter of because this is what we do at the state this is what we did during co I mean maybe that but I know you know

in f we did the same thing the the agenda is sent out and on the agenda the zoom links there listed right for either community members to participate but then also us as board members to be able to call in again I mean the zoom links already there you know >> and I think if you just say okay day if you feel as a person you're not going to make it you know deadline no later than 12 o'clock and if you're not going to make it obviously make that personal choice I'm not going to make it there's no need to say send me the link or whatever because maybe you can't hear maybe your >> day of no 12:00 what are you saying >> I would say it really doesn't matter but at least that

morning because you never know when you're having an emergency like I don't work or anything but like today I ended up having to take somebody to the doctor and I barely got here so >> I think the day of >> the day of it >> I think by day >> what else you skip me >> I don't agree that with day I don't I'd rather have at least two days business days before but that I'm just one vote >> I mean and I understand that sometimes things come up, you have appointments and stuff like that, but our meetings are set on the calendar the year before. We know already that the meeting's going to be there. If it's a doctor's appointment or your husband gets sick, that's different than just other stuff. >> But sometimes

you run late because traffic or >> true, >> you don't know don't know you don't know that until that day. >> Yeah. But if something happens all of a sudden, oh my goodness, >> that would be an extent and then that's where we would And that's why he didn't >> the day. You never know what's going to happen. I'm just taking notes. You that would give us >> I do have a question just um thinking so the day of and and one thing that I heard was if there's an emergency if something comes up um I wonder what's the quality of the participation so the day of something comes up I miss my flight I'm driving in and I say I want to participate by Zoom Is that while I'm driving? >> No. So that's

the other thing is to include >> you can participate if you have good quality connection. No background noise >> and nobody around. Nobody needs to be present. >> Right. That's a hard thing. We don't know. >> Personally, I think like that that would be good. Hey, I'll make it I'll be at the hotel room. I'll get there or I'll be in my car sitting in the parking lot or something. But because we do pick up a lot of background noise sometimes. I mean, I've been there. You've been there. You know where I'm like on that end. >> So, that makes it really hard to get, you know, a a clear picture of what you're listening to. So, if you're not going to have those in your favor, stay. It's just that simple. It's a It's

a personal choice right then and there. If you can't make it, I can't make it because do this. If you can make it. Okay. Well, you got this in your >> We first have to have a form here, right? >> Yes. And it's in there. >> Yes. >> That's the only thing everything you sent us. That's the only that the only problem. >> Yes. But but I have one thing to add. Am I correct that when we went to all those things and uh the new house or whatever that is the parents are able to get on the meeting with the zoom or not >> parents community >> the community parents >> there's a zoom on on YouTube and make it on there's not >> no you don't have it set up live right >>

oh we don't >> I don't That's one thing I was a little embarrassed the other day. A link was sent out to the district with the the YouTube. I think it was might have been a community event and on there was all of our recordings from our meetings that people could see. And so that's why I said I I do think it was important because then you see on one of the things where I'm like driving and zooming in. >> Yeah. No, but I mean Okay. So that's why I do think it is important. >> So it is a different link. that she has to create for you to come in live as opposed to the link that she creates for you to for it to be recorded. It's it's she has to say >>

so it's not what Ruben is saying but there's already one. >> Is it the same thing? >> There's already one or she has to create a different one for you to zoom in. >> The one that I got has been the same one that she records but well now with this one we're also recording on the second the second Either way, I just >> community asked, "Can we go meet Zoom and see you guys see what the meeting's about?" But I didn't know that that was >> that's why it's recorded. I mean, the only thing that's not is is executive. >> It's just not live. That's what I'm saying. They have to go back and look at it. It's not live that day. >> Okay. >> Probably because And I think now that we're moving

into this where we have our mics have an actual meeting camera. >> Okay. So that's it for that item. >> First first item events incorporate current state. >> Put what? >> Current state law. That was not so much. Yeah, that one. Okay. Okay. Any other questions on this? Okay, then moving on. Uh, item number two, Lonear Governance B, team of eight, board of trustees training with Dr. >> Oh, >> yes. >> No, she said she was going to leave it off. >> Oh, should I leave it on? >> Oh, okay. >> Well, she said she said for me to end it at the end. What is it? >> Oh, she told me to end it at the end of what? >> The end of the workshop. >> Oh, the end of the workshop. >> That's

why you're just about to start it. Got to do it. >> It's It is special meeting. I mean, more >> be afraid. Y'all were actually one of the few that I didn't have to do this with. So now with everyone else. >> Wow. Interesting. You normally record this one. That's the reason why we did the posting for the LS mindset because we don't want mindset on camera. Remember that? >> Yes. >> That's the reason why we did all those posting has to be recorded. >> Everyone else I work with, they record. >> They record. >> That's supposed to. >> Yes. We have nothing to hide. >> Okay. So, are we have to turn the camera? Yes. >> Will this one be posted though on our website? >> Yes. >> Don't worry. I won't know what

we're doing. >> We'll take you in situations. >> Yeah. This one doesn't close. Please try now like I do my cheeks. >> Yeah. You should be used to it now everywhere. There. Is that everybody? Do we need our sit When last team >> Oh yeah, it was more than a year ago. >> I haven't had all eight of you. >> We had 1.4. >> So you probably do. >> So let's say we had it. We had it in posted on everybody signed in, right? >> Oh, no. We're going to need that. >> Keep going. Forward question. We're signing in on the public comment sheet. >> Sure. I just want us to sign >> everybody will be able to get team credit on this. Theirs just expired in November. >> So it's right on time. >>

Whenever you're ready to leave. >> Oh, you're up first. >> Right here. Oh, over there. Not this. >> Have you tried the pumpkin spice? >> No. I go to the >> You play cards. >> But I don't know how to do that. small. >> That's >> Where's the camera? turn anyway to get that table. >> I think it it gets everybody. >> It does. >> It gets everyone. >> Okay. Hey everybody. How are y'all doing today or tonight? >> Thanks for coming. >> Thank you. Thank you for having me. >> How was everybody's break? >> Not long enough. I had one um coach that came in and he said, "I am so happy to be back at work today." >> He said his kids gave him a run for his money. I um we're going

to start off with a little team building exercise. How many of you have before done any personality assessments or test leadership style tests before? Anybody? Mhm. >> Yeah. This is true colors personality. So >> with which group? >> I've done a I've done a color a personality color. >> Oh, okay. Okay. So you've done this one specifically. Good. Because um sometimes your colors change. I um actually we did this earlier today and mine changed. So I'll tell y'all about that at the um No, I'll tell y'all about that at the end. But this is just really an opportunity for us um to start our time off together and learning a little bit about how we operate, what's our leadership style, what's our communication style, and it really invites us into each other's thinking, and gives

us a better understanding of how we might respond or why we might respond to certain instances in certain ways. So, I'm going to talk you through um how to do this. One thing to keep in mind is that true colors is a metaphor because all of us have a little bit of of each one of these. You'll find one of them probably will stand out more than the other, but there have been times when you may have two um colors that have the same score or the same number. And so as we learn more about ourselves, we also learn Oh, just this and this. Okay. Hold on. Where's this? I've only got one. >> Where? Where is it? Okay. Okay. I'm going to talk us through this. Thank you, Ruben. I appreciate what happened. >>

What happened? Did the copy machine just get tired? All >> break. >> It was on break. It was still on break. So, um, the actual assessment we have, it's coming in a second. So, what you'll we'll do each row that you'll see is an opportunity for you to score the row. Every row that you score will have a number one through four. Neither of the numbers will duplicate. Okay? And it'll make a little bit more sense in a moment. Um, but you have to rate them based on the highest qual characteristics to the lowest. So when I read that first set of characteristics and it says so on the first row it says active variety sport opportunities spontaneous flexible. If I feel like that describes me most then I'm going to put a four there.

And then as I go on I'm going to put a three for the one that's the next most a two for the one that's not so much. And a one for the least. And those one through four is going to go all the way across. The same thing for each row, the most to the least, and it will probably be mixed up all the way down. The tricky part is when you get down to the bottom and get ready to score, everybody go to the very last row where it says total. The letters that you see, that's how you will add them up. So, you're only going to go back and put the score for a. You're going to find a h. You're going to go and find h and you're going to add that

up. And then you're going to add it to k n. The total for those five go in that first box. But don't add it straight down cuz that's not your all over. Okay. Second one. You're going to add for d, e, l, p, so on and so forth. You see where those are. Of course, the number that's the highest describes your personality of what you're most like. And after we've gotten all of our scores, we'll flip to the back side and we'll talk a little bit about what that means for each one of us. All right. Does that make sense to everybody? Y'all feel good about that? Okay. Let's take about five minutes. It may not take that long. If we need more time, we'll take a little more time. But we'll start the timer

off for five minutes and I'll keep our time. Okay. Each one has a score. >> Mhm. So, one through four. So, whichever one's the most, you put a four. The next most, you put three. Least to the next two. And then the least is and I did mine already. The ros did you want to do one? >> I'm doing one. >> Oh, you had it. Okay, good. Okay. is your change. >> Did you look at the back the description? Don't be scared. >> So, see what it's saying and see if you agree or not. After you get your score, look at the descriptions on the back page and see how it aligns and if you agree. And then we'll go around and share in just a moment. The whole world will know. I think there's

That's right. Oh my good. >> Anybody surprised? >> I'm not >> not surprised. Okay. Okay, y'all ready? >> Does anybody want to guess what they think mine is? >> I know, right? >> Orange, gold, green. Oh my gosh. >> Green or orange? Can you pick up orange? Green. >> Do I have to I want to tell I want to wait till the end. >> Okay. Who wants to go first? >> I'll go first. >> What do y'all want? >> Just share your color first. We'll just whip around real quick. Share your color and then we'll start talking about >> the highest one with the highest. >> Yes. >> Orange. >> Okay. Orange. Okay. >> Blue. Okay. >> Gold. Gold. Three different ones. Orange. >> I'm blue. >> Blue. >> Gold. >> I don't know yet.

You still adding up what? >> I'm still learning it. I haven't got >> Okay, she's still working on it. Okay, keep working. >> Okay. >> Oh, uh, I'm a green. >> Yeah. And Dr. Romos, what about you? >> Blue. >> Still blue. Mine changed. >> Still gold. >> It didn't change by Well, it didn't change by much. I'm gold now, barely. my and then orange second. But they're right there within one number of each other. So gold, orange, then blue, my last is green. So, but it changed. I used to be glaringly orange. And as I transitioned, >> as I did this for the first time, I learned how to embrace my gold, my inner goals. >> And so what is your >> my goals? But or but truly I'm orange. >> My gold and

orange are only one number apart. >> But I'm really orange. But I'm embracing my my gold is starting to shine out a little bit. >> So why do you all think it's important for us to do something do an activity like this? >> I don't know how different we are. >> Mine is a big difference. I mean a big gap between gold and even blue. >> Mhm. >> I'm um Who said I'm pure gold? >> Mine's only two points. gold from gold to blue. It's two points compared with blue. >> So in another in another opportunity I want us to we didn't have slides projected tonight but one of the slides that I have it shows us how we see ourselves. So how gold see themselves but then how others perceive gold. So I'm just

going to read gold um because that's mine. So it says how gold see themselves stable providing security dependable firm always have a view efficient realistic decisive executive type good planner orderly neat punctual and expect the same how others see gold rigid controlling bossing bossy dull boring stubborn pigheaded opinionated >> systembound unimaginative ive limiting limiting flexibility of type sets own agenda rigid idea of time. So ultimately the idea is for us to always have positive intent. And when we can understand how to work with each other a little bit better, it gives us insight into why someone might have asked that question or why they might have made that comment or took that action. And it's not so much that they're trying to be bullheaded or rigid. It is because they're wanting maybe they're wanting to

provide stability or wanting to provide direction. Um, and that is the best way that they know how to do that. So for us as a team really challenging ourselves to always presume positive intent and to ask questions in a way that allow other people to share their thinking, invite their thinking. Uh and then ultimately maybe we even provide space for us to decide like when we do disagree and I know Dr. Ramos will talk more about that as well. How do we want to do that? What does that look like? What does it sound like? What does it feel like um for us? And so that we are able to work through any challenges that we may face. So there is a little bit more but that's the time that I have for now but

we may you know revisit that and come back around to it if time permits. Thank you. Thank you. >> All right. >> Let's roll along with the fun stuff. Can I ask this table to jump on over to this table? >> We're going to play a card game. >> Kind of sort of kind of sort of Angie over here says she's my shuffling guru. >> I don't either. I'm going to use this. >> Maybe maybe he'll show you a trick or two. >> All right, I'm going to bring you. Let me get the instructions to the game. >> Actually, the instructions are right here. >> Here. I'm going to give you the instructions. I'm going to let you. Here's what I'm going to ask you. As a table, >> as a table, learn the rules

to this card game. >> You want me to go ahead and give you a little reason why why we do this? >> It's cuz I'm terrible at card. >> Board members board members don't always read all their materials. So, this is one way I can start helping you and condition you to read the details of this game. So, while I could explain it to you, I'd rather that you as a team work to understand how does this game work. Um, raise your hand, call me over if you have questions. In the meantime, try to work it out as a team as you have the instructions of how this game is played. Go ahead. And it'll add to your question, Angie. It's going to answer which which card you probably want to leave in there, which

card you probably want to take out. >> That's the instructions. >> Those are the instructions. Yeah, you might need to get a little closer together, my friend. >> Chris questions. >> Yeah. Now, some of the cheat sheets of the game, but I don't want you. >> So, you're going to do a big jack. We're not playing Texas, >> right? >> That's right, Angie. We are not playing Texas. >> Sorry, I was trying. >> We're not playing for money. We will be playing tournament style which >> uh five and seven all the way >> all the way up to seven. Yeah. >> 2 all the >> nine is not just a 2, three, four, five, six, and seven. No, it's a diamond closure. >> You don't matter partners. cars. However, >> however, some other player who

wins who has got it No, it's only a winner within us. >> So, it's two, three, four, five, six, and seven. >> Five, six, seven, and eight. >> Telling me. Yeah. >> We've never in our >> life together. Can y'all double check right there? >> You got to make sure you got all eight seven That's correct. What are you doing? Yes. All right. So, we don't have it. is just everybody. So you hard. They can't have you Did you be down? have the party that means She on the first right now. One leg. Yeah. down. I don't have this. Okay. know what to do. Do you want to win? If you have four, five, six, higher cover. Okay, last time two. Now we got >> Yes. All right. turn. So you got I'm going to

end most places. I really like it. everything. neighborhood. halfway. that I don't have our Amen. I am Oh, it's not figured No, no. Six. Good morning. Oh yeah, that's He's So we have I don't remember. I don't care. Yes. Grand Hold them up and I know Okay. Everybody All right. Now, this point table shut up cards. Make sure that they're ready to go. play with you from this point on no more talking and I'm going to that not everyone come with me as soon as we begin we're do we need Keep track of who is the most traded and keep track of who we who was the least among communication. But you guys come with so and don't write to each other just if you have two winners or two and ask rock paper scissors.

to figure out who's going to move from you rock paper scissors. You have to do it quietly to figure out because you will rock paper scissors rock paper scissors right. So you ready? Everybody hold up. No, no, no. Sure. Turn it down. We want to get as many as Hey, heat. We are halfway through this first. about two minutes. the last hand. Once you finish up the last no that over here. >> Yes. So over here. Yes. All right. As soon as they show up and Oh my god. No, no, stop. Who wants Keep fall. So that's the army. There are three minutes. want to try to get as One left back up. Most of the time I fish and stuff. All right. Not only paper. Okay, switching. All right, shut the car. Let's see

if we can find out. See what we find. It's not even Heat. Don't Oh, beautiful. We're almost there. over here. All right, good. No. Oh, you. We can start talking. All right. All right. Game ar what what wondering what feelings do you have play games? What does that mean? What did you mean by your sports? You know, play your own rules. >> Yes. Mother the road. figured it out pretty quickly. Nor someone might throw it out there different from from one table to the next. I need for the next one. I watched by the char the other was interesting. >> Exactly. like able to talk. >> It was a girl with a number of you. Yeah, I mean think about you said I want you to think about how you react. back to this game.

Where is their parallel to their service? This game was designed from Western that help pick up the cultural nuances that look different that where this table you establish culture this table you establish your culture notice that I have two people that's half from your culture that do the other table and at the end of the game three it was three people that started over here that ended up over there and three people that started over there what was like for you when you were at your table good to What was that like for you at the beginning before we started? How were you feeling going to >> me so bad? culture. >> Yeah. Notice that what you if you table the next you enter someone else's do someone else's face. If you stay stay at

the same table and yes Chris, what was that like when you never moved from experience the guests and ended up being only one of the All right. So the deal right there's a lot of different ways people respond some grass and we yank parts from the people and say right like they will talk but you know and they com there's some people who check out you know what I don't I don't like this game I don't know what's going on I don't have enough interest or figure out so you tell me what you want to do and then there's folks who are who are trying to figure out kind of that nervous I don't know what it is because I can't oh I can't sort this thing out but the never really seems to completely

reflect on how you react in this game and I want you to try to make connection to how you show up in remember when we first met we talking about is the number of you are coming to us in your voice. You've used your voice more and more as time has gone. You are speaking your truth to speak to the truth for you. It's a very power thing for you. We start where you're at. If you're catching yourself in scenarios for where you're not speaking and you're not being told, you can't talk, are you? So, if you're not talking, you're not speaking. So, you got a question to ask yourself. Why am I no one prohibited me from sharing my perspective or my thoughts or my feelings? Why am I doing it? If I'm being

overstarted, aggressive in the room, it's all to play video of like how that comes because you all work really hard. There's folks watch out, but I would never pretend your name is working. What connections do you make to the game? What are you I need to start doing this. I just know here Are we really? >> Yes. So opposite. Why? Why? Why? What are you saying? No, as it was yourself and us right now on this car plus that makes sense. I don't know where this person that doesn't work for us. figure out how but that's why and at the same time she was shooting an air in which leadership day two closed on the board the harmony that we have. So cross the connection you were talking about my personality and I think my

personality shows up right um it just it just does. So I do I although I wouldn't mind the game of how I roll impact how other people play the game afterwards cuz I don't think social is like I rules I like you know I didn't other people. So you were playing too and so and I didn't make a connection. So just being mindful of that and making space to be challenged to to say hey there's different perspective is welcome invited. Um and that creates a point creates worsening people here like You know, I just start at the same time. That makes sense for me. good conversation I had with her but speak she her understand how you react here can be separate in some places it could be better than others. So Mustin will be

one go here and you go over here. It can also run in parallel for you be like for example you talk about the rules. I watch your last board meeting and I watch a conversation about everyone reading your policies all red on these that were posted just for post for you right the policies you're the representative of the owners the true owners community right if you don't meet your policies and you don't understand what's in the policies and you're playing this game all over again because somebody else throw a purple at you and you know what's in there for some going to convince you and nobody going to take a charge on you because they're going to think you're wrong. But the reality is you just like everyone else has a genture now to read

through the puzzle whoever to figure out what is Per say because those puzzies your rules if you don't know it's then you can convince you and you didn't that they can manipulate oh that's not really what that means. this opportunity for you to breathe out and actually adjust your instruction to kind of break you in this habit not being you know that may still not be read where I'm really really why not facing questions to the superintendent don't you know everything we talk about these the rules that you mentioned that you said you remember your state for beyond your time when you're serious as you first we're going to follow that is going to be your handbook of how you do this so that you clear you can speed courtyard that I read in my

my everything. I always I think myself this I was honestly when we was a lot That's like so when I didn't see that I'm not so much work just the three of Surely the question did This is what I want to do for that. I want to carry over into unpacking expectation that you all may or may not have each other. There's no reason there's no telling you you can't argue anymore. So I slush out some expectations that way there's more clarity. Um it happens over a time that if if we don't if we don't put things on the table then unnecessary would be happy. That's natural and baby do all day every day. And if you don't push off littleation here, we're going to have some some muscle that may one of the ways

kind of a would you want to be example by us saying what are the expectations this has of the board? Would you become one for facilitator? >> Yes. And by the way, this week don't look at this Mrs. Johnson any of you. What is your expectation that you all would have? We've done before but any more this is not what you try with I don't know what's more or you know that this creation doesn't understand that our lives do things that everyone does but career passion involves something but not every single Okay. just start and when I do something I don't want I want I want I told I want to do it I I want to do the best job that I have as a board member too much if not at all. But

I understand not in the sense of the quality the output should time by to be president, vice president, secretary, board members, superintendent. So student what you have what you expect from them whether you want them to do or model what characteristics you expect turn. Okay. West. What else? pass 17. Okay. Mr. >> Sure. It's all there. But I don't understand what kind of questions ask and you know you say there's times that we don't I don't I don't have questions. because I want the poor president to understand that I do not come from an educational finance number and so there why sometimes I don't see questions I should be asking >> you know and I saw that question and I thought you No, this is not for her, you know. >> No. So, so understand

that sometimes some of us don't know what a C is shows up and and I guess maybe I need to pick up superintendent about that. Yeah, let me interject quick and also I'm going to jump on with you all to how you feel they're really smart questions and remember we covered this summer but we haven't had a chance to put it all back together. When you ask good more strategic questions, you push her and her team to go deeper into the data to bring you better responses versus just you're ask you're still asking technical technical questions. with 800 uncles. The challenge required though is that you make it easy on them to speak the flavor are not pushing them to be. So the questions you ask I know you minimize how important it is. It

is the most powerful thing to have as members is to ask really questions to federal process force them. Look, I think I'm blind. We've been in this for a couple years. What happened when the Lord didn't ask questions the last couple years? Sometimes so you have a good day, right? Because I suggest this is again this is we put seven person you can pull the other unless you do it the way we design it. Y'all are not 75% there score 61 ship away. You're a part of you right off the edge on you're going to get greatness when you can understand why so and so that present opportunity as a coach to help you out because it's a hard thing I I will tell you that it was a hard thing for me to learn

and I didn't learn to my last I was seeing that power and when I come in my man questions what was like because you guys read you and I got time the last time we did the workshop things when you're overseas I walk you through all these things it's it's the most respectful thing I want to submit you can do because the back you give her emphasis to say look we're asking this really good question we can't we can't board we got to give them world because I think the fact there's always that opportunity teachers but you're sending to you're not my my my point is clear that we should be able to ask for We should be able to question there's just that understanding at the same level as the others that's email just

ask me. Yeah, I have to I have to think. >> Yeah, >> I I s that I have to literally sit and think of how I want to just because I was an educator, it doesn't come to me right away. I have to think how am I going to question it like question and if you don't there's a reason you have uh let me help you let me help you home to your deck to shoot me a direct single. Can you help me figure out a question to submit? Um, that's what I'm And once you get once you get that people at the garage, you want to watch last night or questions what I do not talk to something, but I tell you what I hear from administrator. I get tons of questions from all

the time and energy put into that two different types of responses we think question and and pretty kids and the teams that need you to back them It's almost a test put in hours and hours and hours and I don't know about here but I'll tell you what happened usually in our district spend a lot of time preparing for what you might ask them right and so they take about all their time they take prepar and you spend any idea how much time we spend on food achievements minutes from 11 minutes. Yeah. How much on attendance is important? It's important not every state right because the student achieve that much that's we don't talk about your passion it's hard but students you at the bottom of your competition then you got some memory Yeah. Or

do you guess where I come from? are coming. >> Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I'm not saying that when I'm not saying I want to talk. I'm just saying you have your numbers. I sent your reports. Y'all killed it during the summer. Y% in the last two months. you took significant as you reflect as board go back and look at your divs to figure out what were the wrong that the board and then wake back up. What is the parall that happens in your school system is all I want to it's completely reason we don't say 100% we say 50% that you you know all the way to research and if you have big high volume canvases they will come they will come right I was really tripping out to hear them coming out shape

if they're okay. I mean, they feel a little bit too You have seen I think personal things about each other. I'm being respectful. perspective on that. >> I guess I didn't say it. I wanted to say I told you so because tell them I was not doing a good job and previous awesome person but I felt a good job and nobody listening but not be a good strong honest person because I personally that's part of that I got very interesting. eternally died
