001ahead and begin our open meeting portion. Um, let the record reflect that trustee Brandon Barti did arrive at around 5:35 >> and me >> and trustee Taylor Gilwood. Uh, public participation, Dr. Pery. >> Thank you, President Johnson, and to our board of trustees. We are excited tonight to have with us the finest group of young men in Texas. uh they have really really earned the spot of being one of the most exciting teams that we have had in the creation of Memorial High School. It's a team that has been looked at since they were in middle school and coming up the ranks and and they prove that they are a force to be de reckoned with. Every game was exciting. Every game was up upbeat. You brought the community together. This is the first time

002I've seen in a long time where the entire community [clears throat] was positive and they spoke positively and they pushed you and they they were willing to do anything they needed to do. And I'm sure you saw some of the pictures from the um where you were in the place where you could see where the stands were filled. The most memor memorable picture that I saw was in Bowmont with the top and the bottom totally and not one incident amongst people. It was incredible. Absolutely incredible. And you did that. You did that for this community. And for that we are proud. I am going to ask that um our principal come forward, Dr. Murphy, and introduce the coaches that are here. and then if the coaches will come up and introduce the players. And once

003again, we are most proud in the history of Memorial High School. This has been the most exciting season that we have experienced. [applause] >> Good morning to everyone. Dr. Puerto President Ryov Johnson and the board. We're excited here to be with you all this evening. I would like to introduce you the coaches that are here. We have coach Brian Morgan, the head football coach at Memorial High School. We have Coach N [applause] and Coach Sanders here with us this evening. [applause] Who will please come to the mic? Uh just just quickly before I I call these guys out, now most of you guys know, but uh just want to thank you all for for all of your support. Um most importantly, thank uh Dr. Murphy for her support. There's not all the time that uh

004football coaches and principles are always on the same page, and it's been un it's been unbelievable this year. I'll be honest with you, I didn't I didn't have a whole lot with Dr. Murphy until um this year, but it's been unbelievable and still is to this [clears throat] day. Um and so thank her and thank you guys as well. Um I'll call these guys out briefly and then uh Jordan's a great speaker. Jordan will finish it off. So, um, go down line. Naimm, Marcus, uh, Jordan, Brock, uh, Tori, Jack, Clayton, Bug, sorry, we speaking all nicknames. Brandon, Tyson, BJ, TJ, K, uh, KJ, [laughter] >> BJ, TJ, KJ, right? Payo, Keven, um, Big Tank, Fat Tank, great to have you. Uh, Cormain, Valencia, uh, Valy Graham, uh, Lil Roberts, Alpo, uh, Chris. Who else you

005see back there? Day, Monte, Alex, Wash, Diego, PG, Hooser, um, Jaylen Herz. Who else is back there? Jack, [laughter] um, Sage, Ste, and Gway. Um, Uh, but it's a it's a great group of young men. A couple of these young men are already going to school. Three of them are graduating right now, starting school in January. Tank's obviously already gone. And then Keven and Brock will be gone uh here in a couple weeks. So awesome for them. Jordan, come say a word. >> Hold on. Y'all talk about since middle school now. Jordan. >> So when Jordan was in seventh grade, we were playing football in uh where is it? Three of >> you. PB. >> Yeah. He used to skip school on Friday. He'd hit up on the bus to be the ball boy somehow.

006We have no idea. He'd show up to every game. Didn't matter where it was. >> So, we known Jordan for a long time. Spent a lot of time with Jordan. >> I just want to say uh thank y'all for all coming out. It mean a lot to us. And thank y'all. You ain't have to come out. And uh football team, you know, I don't need that. I'll speak loud. Football team, you know, I'm going miss y'all. Seniors, y'all know we had a great run. Yuns, y'all go get it all next year. Y coaches, we thank y'all. Dr. Murphy, we thank y'all. You know they had a whole school crazy going by dress code. Dr. Murphy got say look she doing what she doing. Just the rules. Just the rules. You gota follow the rules. [laughter]

007Got follow the rules. We thank you for everything you do for us. Coach, thank you Charlotte. Ke young man in school. Well preserved. Thank you so much. You know what I'm saying? Marlo DJ rocket out every game. You know we gonna miss you too, Coach Marlo. I just want to say thank y'all for everything y'all do for us and and plenty more y'all done for us. Thank y'all. IT MEAN A LOT. [applause] YOU GUYS CAN TELL obviously the season was fun, a lot of wins. We have a lot of fun with these guys. We see them every day for four years for these seniors. So, thank you all again. Appreciate you having us. [applause] >> Co coaches and players, congratulations on having a great season. Uh you all really did a great job. Every game

008like Dr. Py said it was exciting and I'm just proud of you and thankful to have the opportunity to to see all of you here tonight. I would if I if it's appropriate like to see the students who who are here who've already signed for college scholarships are some of the players who who signed I know Tanky says already >> gone g going to college. Can can y'all come forward? Let's let's see YOUR [applause] is one of them. Where where's the monkey? I I I have to do this now. You know, Smithson Valley, they were all right, but I think I still think we're a better team. But but one play that the quarterback jumped over this guy. [snorts] Smith Valley coaches were in the in the area Wild City. They couldn't believe what they

009just seen. I couldn't believe it either, but that was an outstanding play. Most time players try that, they get tripped up. Somebody, you know, hit hit their hit their leg or something. But this dude jumped over a tall player. >> Mhm. >> Huh. Yes, he [laughter] did. And got got a lot of yard. Anyway, I'm just proud of you and thankful for you all what y'all have done. And and just for those who pay attention to sports, SEC, Big 12, that's what I'm talking about. That's just outstanding. It doesn't happen by accident. But I but I also know that it's because of your work with the team and the coaches that you and your parents that you're able to get to where you are today. So, good luck. Proud of you. And y'all want to

010say something? >> Don't help you that way. All right. Thank you, MADAM PRESIDENT. [applause] UH, FIRST OFF, I'D LIKE TO CONGRATULATE, you know, little Titans. Well, not little Titans. Titans. Uh, I coached few of y'all. Y, if I coached you, stand up. I [clears throat] won a sixth grade championship with those Super Bowl with those guys a few years ago. But uh the one thing I do want it ain't it hadn't been put out yet and I don't think coach Morgan has not wanted to put out probably just he been celebrating a lot. He been doing a lot of celebrating. So Monte stand up and I'm pretty sure the people in the city of Port Arthur don't know that Monte [clears throat] broke Jamal Charles Russian record in the city of Port. [applause] He was

011in my house eating too and everything else I had in my house had me texting coach Morgan. See, I'm really just see how much my numbers is. My numbers is And so I end up calling Jamal and letting him talk to Jamal. And uh I'm proud of all you guys uh to see y'all come up. Uh I know Clayton, me and his dad were best friends growing up and now I'm looking at him now going to become a nice young man hopefully. And uh [laughter] it's just good to see you guys. Uh continue, man. Keep God first in your life. Always have a plan. It might not be the right plan. It might not go straight how you want it in the beginning, but as long as you got a plan for the future, you

012going you got something to look forward to. So again, congratulations. The best team we ever had in Port Arthur, 14 and one. It was Monte Faulk. I ain't going to just [snorts] keep hopping on him, but [laughter] But, uh, congratulations, guys. [applause] Okay, y'all had a great season. I'm so proud of all of you. You did a great job. You may not be state champion, but you are champions in our eyes. And I enjoyed watching y'all play every day. Like, I was on the field. Didn't know nothing about football, but I was there [laughter] supporting you guys all the way through. And I enjoyed every moment of it. So keep the faith and move forward. [applause] >> I just like to echo the sentiments of the board by saying congratulation on a successful season and

013we wish you all the best in your future endeavors and just know always that home is here to support you if you ever need us. [applause] Uh congratulations guys. Um I'm [snorts] very very proud of you all. Y'all see me all the time. I know some of y'all, Monte and some of y'all guys, y'all can eat. We took y'all out to eat a couple of times and I promise y'all something else, but we going to see about that before you even go to school. But y'all, y'all guys did a great job. Um, a few things that I saw from this class that I didn't see from previous years. Uh, y'all brought about the class. That's number one. The class that y'all had on the field was spectacular. the the knowing of your position, the knowing

014your roles. Everybody in here knew their their role and what they were supposed to do. And that played a major part in your success in this in this upcoming season, in this season that we just had. Uh just the way y'all y'all presented yourselves in public, presented yourselves at the school. Uh me and Dr. Murphy had a a conversation and the changes that Jordan said, the changes that was made, that's changes that that let them happen. That make changes. I saw the change from last year to this year with the football team. The respect that you have for each other, the respect that you have for your coaches. These things did not go unseen. We saw all of this. It was to the point I thought I was a coach so much. Uh co uh

015coach Morgan put me out the locker room one one day at the halftime. He said, "Can you step outside?" I told you. But I understood I understood the seriousness of that that moment. But hey, we learn situations. We go through trials and tribulations. There was a trial and tribulation. Didn't it didn't happen the way we wanted to happen, but that's all a part of life. That's building you up as men today. That's going to help you later on down the line. So, keep the faith, keep going, keep pushing. Remember, surround yourselves with good people. Surround yourself with positive people. Surround yourself with people that's going to build you up and not tear you down. So take that especially guys that's going to the next level. Make sure you keep your eye on the prize. Keep

016that tunnel vision like you had this season that tunnel vision. Keep that tunnel vision. And anytime you all have a a question or need somebody to talk to or vent to or anything, if you need somebody to pray with you, give me a call. Call me. Find me. I'm with Rev all the time. I'm with uh Pastor Garden all the time. So, y'all have people that's on your side that's willing to help you get to the next level. And we not just send him and we mean it. So, anytime you need us, call for us. We there for you. Coach is going to still be there for you because we want you to succeed. We want you to be successful. Okay. Hey, hey guys, once again, great season. Well done. I couldn't be more prouder.

017And guess what? One thing y'all did do, y'all brought the city together. Y'all brought the city together. Y'all don't see it, but y'all did, and I thank y'all for it. Thank you. [applause] First and foremost, I want to say congratulations to each and every one of you. Um, I do want to start off too by thanking administration. Uh, thank you'all for the work that you do behind the scenes. Um, and shout out to Dr. Murphy, too. Dr. Murphy was out there with a game fit on every single time. I don't think I've ever seen a principal that enthusiastic at every single game coming with a new fit. I think you should have did a fit check and posted it on TikTok. But um most importantly, it was really just great to see Memorial High School

018in a place that we've hadn't seen it in a long time, if not since it's been in existence. Um, and that was to see the level of talent that we have in Port Arthur, amongst you all, the level of talent that we have amongst our staff, and the level of love that the community really has. I can truly say, and I'm 23 years old, I have never seen the community show up and show out the way they did. You had people thinking they were looking at a Lincoln and TJ game. You had the stands filled each and every time. And I just want to say this to you and I hope that you can can remember this beyond just this moment because what you all displayed this season showed us in the city of Port

019Arthur what happens when preparation meets purpose. What you all displayed on the field, in the classroom, in the community before the game, even after the game showed us what happens when we actually have preparation. you. What you all achieved this season will always be remembered. But what I want you to fully understand and know and recognize is all of that is great, but where you go next and who you will become matters even more. Don't let this historic moment be just your best moment. Take this historic moment and make it better and better and better. Take the brotherhood that you have gained amongst each other. take the successes, the failures, combine it all into something that you can always remember. So when times get rough, you can say, "Hey, I remember I had a challenging

020moment then. I got through it then. I'm going to get through it this time." And even if you are going through something challenging, if you see someone else that's on your team or even amongst your your your company, don't let this lesson miss you. Take this opportunity to soak in all the success, but take this opportunity to make your next moment your best moment. I'm proud of you. I know that everything happens for a reason. I know that God has his hand on each and every one of you. I can't wait to see where you go from here. As the board has already said, you have our full support. I don't know nothing about football other than going to the games and supporting. So, I was able to learn some things. But one thing I

021do know is I was able to sit around every table that I sat at and say, "Man, our boys are doing the dang thing like never before." So walk away knowing that you are champions. You made history that no one else in this district has ever had. But also keep walking and knowing that while I made history here, there's still another another level of success. As Coach Morgan said one time at convocation, one win is good, but there's still another game. And you still have another game after you walk across that stage. And I'm more more than confident that you all are prepared to go on and do great things and you have our support. I'm praying for you and I can't wait to see where you go next. [applause] Okay. I guess they save

022the best for last. So, I will spare you the uh sermons. They pretty much covered that. But I do um agree with everything that all of the trustees have said to you gentlemen. Um, you guys were amazing. Um, like everyone has said, the one of the biggest things that you guys should walk away accomplished with is the way that you brought us all together. When I say I like to call myself, me along with Devon, uh, Coach Rogers and, uh, Rashad with the band, we called ourselves the spirit committee. And so they, soon as y'all game was over, they were like literally on us. Give me the ticket link. What color we wearing next week? What we have to do? We need to sit right here. You know, we had the bells, we had the

023towels. Like, y'all brought the spirit that none have brought before you, and that was you guys. Like, it wasn't us. It was just looking at the morale that you have, the attitudes, the togetherness, you know, the drive and determination. The fact that you guys did not give up. Even in that game, you know, when it looked like it was getting away, y'all still fought, brought it back to within the three-point lead, the state champs or whatever is nothing to hold your head about because y'all did not give up. Hope y'all persevered until the very end. And I believe if we had two more seconds or even if they wouldn't have gave us that little raggedy call and gave him that kick right before half, we probably would have tied it up or won. But we're

024not going to go there cuz I'm a dieh hard football fan. You know, I'm a true coach's wife. I'm Coach Q wife. Y'all probably already know that. But I'll be about that football. So I I'll be over there mad. Y'all had me pacing in the little family seats over there to the left because I really really love the game of football and y'all kept it enthused. I really appreciate y'all. I want all the seniors to stand first and foremost if y'all could. I know we have majority of the team here, but I want to definitely shine light on the seniors who have been here. [applause] You know, you guys has 50 years. Y'all about to go home. Just like I said, y'all didn't give up in that game. Do not give up in life. Go

025to college. It may get hard. It is not going to be like high school. I can tell you that. And like Jordan said with uh Dr. Murphy, she may be a little hard, but she's definitely preparing you for the discipline you need to go for it and not give up because nobody's going to be over your shoulder. Nobody's going to be fussing at you, telling you what to wear and anything, but it's going to be up to you from this point to make sure that you do what you're supposed to do. and her giving you all that guidance, uh, Coach Morgan helping y'all with that discipline and making sure y'all abide by those rules is what's going to help you in life. Because regardless if y'all think that we're being hard or even Dr. Murphy,

026we are preparing you for the real world where nobody's going to be over your back or be able to help you out at night or run up to the school when you got in trouble, going 100 miles a minute, pressing that button, trying to get in there to talk to Dr. Murphy to get you out of trouble. That's not going to work in the real world. So, that's what she's been preparing you all for. That's what coach Morgan and all these other coaches, my husband in his absence, our stepson had a Christmas program. Y'all know I'm Oline connected. That's my babies right there. So, I got a little break now. No more Thursday cooking for y'all. Dr. Ptery was a little jealous cuz y'all had gumbo and pasta and treats and chili and everything, but

027you know, y'all my babies. So, I rock with the O line and the whole team. I'm so proud of y'all. I had such a great time watching y'all this season. And I pray that that morale that you guys said continues for the years to come. Thank you to Dr. Murphy. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Coach Morgan. You probably don't get enough recognition that you should, you know, you probably hear more slack than anything cuz everybody think they a coach, but you are the coach and you are who we pay and you've done amazing job this season with the guys along with the other coaching staff. So, [applause] I can go on all day because I love y'all that much, but I won't because we got to get out of here. But as a school

028board trustee president for this year, I'm not I mean I'm I'm more than happy to say that I was a president of such a record-breaking year that you guys made. And I'm so proud of y'all. Continue to be great. Okay, that brings our public participation to an end. Great. No other. Okay, we'll go ahead and move on to staff reports. Dr. Mark Ptery. >> Yeah. Board President Johnson and uh members of our trustees. It's been a great semester. Our semester will end tomorrow, December 19th. Things are looking very, very, very, very good and strong. So, we are happy. Our holiday break will begin tomorrow. Once we dismiss, there is early dismissal on tomorrow. The district will be closed from Monday, December 22nd through January 5th. January 5th, staff will return. Students will return January the

0296th, which is Tuesday, January 6. Mrs. Lot, these are our district highlights since we last met. Uh the top left corner, our some of our students made the cover story, feature story of the Bowmont Examiner. Um, we do receive free issues of the newspaper at all of our elementary campuses that service grades two through five. At the top in the middle, Wheatly School of Early Childhood cut the ribbon on a new playground. So, they were very excited about that and and brought the community out to that ribbon cutting event. Uh the media team has been filming student and staff spotlights throughout the month of December and we have published a couple of those on our YouTube channel and they have been very well received. The right middle some of our students uh participated in the

030fall sweep community cleanup hosted by the Port Arthur city of Port Arthur Beautifification Commission. the bottom left. We did send our Titans off in grand fashion to that um fifth round playoff game. They uh started off on Adams Drive in front of the campus and we had the community line in Adams Drive. There were some on the corner of uh 9th Avenue and 73. Our uh SSC staff and our administration building staff. So the team, you can tell from the photo how excited they were to see the love from their community. And in the center, our illustrious Dr. Murphy went viral with her sideline cheering and chanting. There was a uh social media sports reporter on the sidelines who uh did not know that Dr. Murphy was a principal, thought it was a parent. So

031she was very excited to learn that that's the actual our principal. She posted the video and as of yesterday, the video has been viewed 952,000 times. So, she's about to hit a million views very quickly. These are our uh December observations and uh we also put new year on there since we'll meet before then. Um, at the top left corner, Sam Houston celebrated uh Thanksgiving with the pilgrims and the Indians. In the middle, Lake View Elementary throughout the semester has been uh recognizing good character. So, kids who have been displaying good character traits have been uh posted on their socials and given award incentives. The top right corner, Wilson Early College students toured Lamar Bulmont. The bottom right, Sam Houston Elementary students learned about sound energy at the Shangrila uh Botanical Gardens in Orange. The

032bottom middle um Adams Elementary students conducted electricity um building they built circuits using batteries, wires, and bulbs to see how energy travels. Um Booker T. Washington now has a garden club and their green thumbs were likely sparked because Washington has been invited to help um with some community gardening. I believe it was the Westside Community Center uh garden where the students went and helped out. They were in the newspaper featured on that and now they have their own garden club at the school. The top left corner we have some PE students at Wilson using box light technology to go over basketball plays and drills. Uh at the top in the middle, Memorial High School hosted a voter registration drive with a constable Chris Bates and Judge Kaitlin Gardner, senior. the top right we had seven

033teachers across four of our campuses who earned a portion of the Port Arthur LNG empowered grant program. So they are splitting over $44,000 for the programs that you see listed on the chart. The bottom right this Monday we actually rolled out our new steam bus, science, technology, engineering, art, and math. And that bus is going to tour different elementary campuses so students can take their learning beyond the classroom to a mobile classroom to engage in steam activities. Um the media came out and covered the the bus. The first tour stop was at Adams and then the second tour tour stop was at Washington on Monday. And then in the spring they'll continue to roll the bus to different campuses and have the kids come aboard and engage in the steam activities. the bottom middle, Terra

034Elementary School, uh took a field trip to NASA. And the bottom left corner, our culinary arts teacher, Miss Ashcrooft at the CTE campus was one of the recipients of a portion of a grant from Celebrity Chef Rachel Ray, the 2025 Rachel Ray Foundation Prostar Grow Grant. So, she um received a portion to um implement the programs because you you know that the Titans have a cafe over there at the CTE building. Um some more campus is celebrating Christmas and Thanksgiving since we last met. We've had our groups to go out into the community. Our high school choir sang at Central Mall and also sang at a couple of our nursing homes. Our book Washington choir brought holiday cheer to city hall. At the top in the middle, um Thomas Jefferson Middle School rewarded their students

035who passed their benchmark test. And if you can see the shirt says not your average student because they were doing work that was above average. Um, at the bottom left, our criminal justice students that are at Memorial and the CTE campus, uh, criminal justice program went to the courthouse to Judge Giller's chambers and got to see some real live law and order in real life. Um, and then at the bottom right, uh, Walk on Restaurant. Oh, no, no, that's the wrong thing. At the bottom right, I don't know if you have heard of this Tik Tok trend. Um, Taylor probably has. I don't know what 67 means, but it's a very popular Tik Tok thing that the kids, anytime you ask them something, they're gonna say the answer is 67. And nobody knows what it

036really means, but the kids know. And so Adams took advantage of that and they actually celebrated being 67 days smarter. I literally went to Hobby Lobby the other day and somebody took the letters and wrote out 67 on the uh little I was like, "Okay, we going too far." Terror Elementary students and this was actually the week that we played Barbers Hill. They went to Mont Belleview to the Children's Museum and so um they had the kids to take pictures with little eagles, but we didn't post those pictures. We posted the pictures of the kids actually engaged in the children's museum. The Girl Scouts are active at Booker T. Washington. Um that's the top left picture. The top in the middle. Wilson has a gyms club and they actually hosted a butterb bread and jam

037event where the girls actually created a variety of flavored butters and homemade jam and then they served it to each other and to the people who attended their event. Um Thomas Jefferson Middle School students participated in the annual Jun Junior Achievement Field Experience and that um that has been going on for decades and it gives kids a career, a salary and uh living expense options. So the kids take their electronic devices and determine if their career um affords them the type of lifestyle that they want. So they're gaining real world skills in how to finance, budget, and maintain the lifestyle that they think that they will be able to afford. Hopefully it encourages them to actually go to college and become the six figure salary earners and more Christmas um celebrations. The Grinch has stole

038Miss Seals's lesson plans in the bottom left corner. She's a teacher at Travis. And then Thomas Jefferson students let Rudolph join in some of the reindeer games dressed up as reindeer that day. Back to the CTE campus, the top left corner, we see that Miss Ashcrooft is teaching her students how to make cookies that rival the very popular Chrobo cookie company. Um, they make those specialty cookies over there at the cafe. The second photo at the top, the cosmetology students are uh braiding hair, installing box braids. And um this particular client received um a full set in less than three hours because there were multiple cosmetology students working on that one client. So the co the Titan is still open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:30 to I think 3:30 to 6:00 or 3:30 to

0395:30, but it's by appointment. The automotive technology students at the the third photo, they are repairing the navigation computer for vehicles. So, not only are they learning how to work on the body of a car, but they're also learning how to repair the electronic computer components of cars. And the top right picture, the construction students took an area of the Titan salon that was like a little locker room space. You can kind of see the lockers behind that frame and they turned it into a wall with a door so that it's actually a storage closet. So look at like what our kids are doing in construction. The bottom right, our sweet 16 Wilson Early College. This is a history making moment for them. This is the largest class of seniors that they had that graduated

040in December from Lamar State College, Port Arthur. So that's a group picture of those students who walked across the stage last Friday. And then also we had several of our Port Arthur ISD employees who earned master's degrees and doctoral degrees. So these are some of their photos and names. We hosted the second the 32nd annual James Gamble Classic last weekend as well and our Lady Titans are doing very well. This is a photo at the top. They played um the Spring Lady Lions in Cypress, Texas. And the Smoothie King earned Smoothie King owner in Cypress um supported the team and provided them and the coaches with smoothies after the game. At the bottom in the middle, we have a middle school student from Thomas Jefferson that we um spoke about a couple of months ago

041when we found out that she was going to be playing in a uh national softball tournament. Um, and she actually represented herself, her family, and her school over Thanksgiving break in Florida at the 2025 HP National Selection event with Team USA. So, we're very proud of her and her parents are as well. Our soccer and softball teams had triyouts and they've already begun practicing. Um, I think soccer may have had some scrimmages. The softball field is is coming along pretty well and the baseball field. The powerlifting team is already practicing for their season. At the bottom right, we had two of our flag girls who were invited to perform with the Texas Southern University Flag Girls. Um the Migers family legacy when we talked about the mom and the four kids who were actively engaged

042in the auxiliaries on Friday nights, their um YouTube video highlighting them has received almost a thousand views to date. U we posted our soccer schedule for boys and girls soccer and you just met the guys who um signed for early college signing day. We also have our coach Morgan is coach of the year for our district and then we had 20 total football players who earned all district honors and so these are those players. This is uh some community engagement. So, the Booker T. Washington students dressed as Chick-fil-A workers for Red Ribbon Week and the Grove Chick-fil-A um branch saw the post on our socials and decided to send the mascot to the campus with treats for the students. So, that was a big hit. Then, we've had several groups to participate in food drives.

043Here's one campus u with a Thanksgiving food food drive assisting everlasting changes. Walk-ons restaurant donated 250 free kids meal certificates for our students to reward them for their academic achievements. So we divided those certificates um evenly among the elementary schools and weekly so that our kids know that their hard work does not go unnoticed. We received $125,000 from um Valero's benefits for children grant. So, Weekly, Sam Houston, Lake View, and Portacres Elementary will each receive $25,000. And then $5,000 will go to our tennis teams. Um, and this is 5,000 per organization. Tennis, girls basketball, our Flames, our cheerleader squads, and then our Twilers and flags. Um, more food drives and toy donation drives. Chevron Phillips donated to um Travis's Angel Tree Project. Um I think this I think this is the Kingsmen at Wilson Early

044College who are helping the food bank with a Thanksgiving food drive. But we have also been helping community organizations with Christmas food drives as well. And we've had some of our dance teams from the elementary campuses to participate in the Port Arthur City Christmas parade, but also the Netherland City um holiday parade. The royalist donated um Thanksgiving baskets to Booker T. Washington for Thanksgiving. And then we also helped some of our local churches promote their uh winter Christmas festivals. This is a collage of I would say 95% of the signs that we saw around the city and around on social media from churches, from restaurants, from businesses, from clubs and organizations. When we say that our Titans brought the city together, this is a visual of how they brought the city together. And this is

045something that I have been trying to push these businesses to do for I don't know how many years. This is my fifth football season. So for four years it took this this Titan team to bring the community together to where everybody had Titans on their signs and we asked them to keep keep it up. Don't take it down now. Just keep it keep supporting the Titans. For our alumni accomplishments, um Toy Thornton, who is a Port Arthur ISD grad, was awarded the Julie and Ben Rogers Community Service Award from Lamar State College. Uh Dr. Murphy was recognized for her hard work and education by the Levi and Sherry Barnes Foundation. Um John Ko will be presented with the Arthur Stillwell Award by the Chamber of Commerce. And then unfortunately we do have four of our

046PISD angels people who transitioned um since we last met. All of them were retirees. Uh, Linda Monroe, Warren Jones III, Coach Charles Gwood, Senior, and Queen Esther Titus. This is our um media summary and social media stats since we last met. Uh, we are now monetized and we have earned $310 from our post uh engagement since we last met. We got to crawl before we walk. And um our above sea level campaign is going very well with our campus social media influencers creating Tik Tok like videos. We can't have a Tik Tok, but we can post Tik Tok like videos encouraging their peers to aim to make grades that are higher than C's. And that concludes my report. We've had a we've had a lot of great news. It's been shared. I want to acknowledge

047what you just said about Tik Tok. In fact, somebody that one of my relatives from Paris, Texas recently was talking about seeing the principal on Tik Tok, that uh shot that you just talked about earlier. So, we're proud of all that. But I also wanted to acknowledge that our Titan women's basketball team uh just won the first district basketball game this Tuesday. I appreciate your sharing the part by spring. But we just had our first district game. New coach won the game Tuesday night very handily. Wasn't easy, but we won the game. Want to acknowledge that. But also wanted to for historical purposes uh acknowledge the 2011 football team, Dr. Puerto R. I know you know well and remember well we had a good outpouring of support and community engagement in that year as well.

048We went 11 and three, not 14-1. But we also, what part what sparked my memory was what you said about million-dollar uh six-f figureure salaries. Atlanta Roberts was in that team who is in the NFL now. I think he's in Las Vegas. Uh he's a multi-millionaire doing well as well. But Cilos still stopped us. Same game, semi-final game. Uh we didn't lose by three points. We lost by a whole bunch of points. I won't even acknowledge. But but I but I'm proud of this team as I said early and everyone else is acknowledged and don't want to compare so so to speak but also for the historical part of it. We did make it to the semi-finals once before and just didn't make it. And finally want to acknowledge Kayn Gardner uh Mr. Barti mentioned

049the Gardener family, but he was our speaker, one of our speakers last week at the Port Arthur Rotary Club and has really done a lot of good work in community service and other activities. Just wanted to acknowledge that he's not here now, but you know, just didn't want to miss the opportunity to acknowledge how proud we are of him for what he's doing in the community. Thank you. >> I saw him under number number 75. Yeah, I didn't think about it then. [laughter] And uh just real quick uh Miss Lot before this um year ends, I want to say on behalf of the board, they didn't tell me to say this, but I know they utter the same sentiments that we appreciate what you do for the um district updates even before you like I

050have to catch myself cuz I'm kind of like sitting here when you going through it here. But that's only because I've already looked at every single post and shared it and made a comment about it before we even get here. So I'm kind of like I already know about them. I definitely appreciate you for keeping us updated with that because it's really some amazing things that happens in our district from the CTE. Like I told him when he said about the Rachel Ray Foundation scholarship. Look, I was just fussing at him when y'all got the bolero. I was like, I was at work. Why y'all didn't tell me I could have came to the cafeteria? But needless to say, I follow all of that on an everyday basis and share it and tag people and

051put a comment on it and everything. So, I appreciate you, nobody else say it, for keeping us informed on everything cuz it's hard for us to keep up with everything that goes on. And I don't know how you do it, but you do. So, we appreciate you for that and um having every little detail, you know, for us to know. So, thank you. Keep that up. And we appreciate you for 2025. All right. We will move on to minutes considering if appropriate approved minutes of the November 20th, 2025 board of trustees meeting. Can I have a motion? >> So move for approval. >> Second. It's been moved by Trustee uh Taylor Gwood, second by Secretary Diane Brown. All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? Moving on to consent agenda. The following items which are

052of routine and are of a current nature have been designated consent agenda items by the board president policy be local. One moment. Okay, I'll start off on that real quick. Consent agenda. The following items which are of routine and are recurring nature have been designated consent agenda items by the board president per policy be local. All the items in consent agenda will be acted upon uh by one vote without being discussed separately unless requested by a trustee in which event the item or items will be redrawn immediately for individual consideration in its normal sequence after the items not requiring separate separate discussion have been acted upon. I will give you minute or so to look at um numbers 1 through 11 and if there are no questions um we'll call for a motion on the

053consent agenda. >> Madame President, >> I move to approve consent agenda items 1 through 11. Second. >> Okay. It has been moved by Vice President Narsis and second by Trustee Gatwood. Um all in favor of this, we will dignify with the I as well as raising your hand. Um according to the change in the law for the consent agenda, if you are in favor um say I and raise your hand. So all in favor of the consent agenda approval. >> I. >> Any opposed? Okay, that motion does carry for consent agenda items. We will now move on to personnel. Dr. Mark Porter. >> Yes, President Johnson. Board members, you have received the list of teachers for approval. >> Madam President, I make a motion to um approve the employment of teachers as presented. >> Okay.

054It's been moved by Trustee uh Taylor Gwood and second by Secretary Diane Brown for the approval of employment of teachers. All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? Oh, for this one too. I'm sorry. >> I do apologize for personnel. We'll do that vote one more time. That one will be dignified by hand raised as well. So, it's been moved by Trusty Taylor Gwood and second by Secretary Diane Brown. All in favor? >> I >> Any opposed information? >> Average daily attendance and enrollment for the for the previous month 7,922. Average daily enrollment 92.29%. 29%. >> Okay. Thank you, Dr. Cordy for the information. On behalf of the board, we do want all of our staff here to have a merry Christmas and amazing new year until we see you again. I will now call

055for a motion for adjournment. >> So, move for approval. [laughter] >> All right. It's been moved by Trusty Taylor Gitwood. We are adjourned at 7:17. >> Oh, I'm sorry. Second for that. Look, >> she said second for adjournment. Second by >> and second by [laughter] trust by secretary Diane Brown. We're journ
