001We welcome everyone to this June 8, 2026 meeting of the course board of trustees. It's a regular board meeting and all items will be discussed have been here posted. While this is in public, it's not a vision of the budget. Mor set goals, approve personnel budgets, make policy, provide oversight. We're not here to manage or solve individual problems with this positive. As board, we believe we must educate every child, provide every child the greatest opportunity to learn, maintain a safe and secure environment, family. We appreciate your interest as we have Watch your next to the flag of the United States of America and to the stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. I aliance to the Texas one state under God, one indivisible, thank you for your name. Thank you
002for allowing us to humble what's one of the best many blessings that we get and that's our children. Thank you for that. Thank you for the school. Lord, thank you for all the people that work for us. Thank you for all the children that come here. Most important thing for this town is give us the wisdom to do what's right. Everything. >> All right. We're happy to have everyone back. Uh we had graduation on May 22nd. It was a wonderful night, a wonderful human night, but we made it. Uh we had a pretty large class and we had an exciting night. If you have not seen uh our graduation video, please do that. Uh also going on right now is demo at CHS. So if you have driven by CHS, you will see that um
003those stairwells that are close to Highway 22 will be coming down sooner than later. So uh we have a lot of demo going on, abatement. So, as that progresses, we'll keep you updated. Thank you. report, Miss How members of the board, thanks for having me tonight. Um, going to give you our annual report. Um, I wasn't going to include this slide just because I thought it was a little self- serving. This was the graphic we ran uh, communicators day, which I believe is May 8, National Communications Day. And, uh, we wanted to pull off Abby Road, but didn't have enough time, so we wanted to let it be. I don't know. Um, but the reason I wanted to include it cuz just finished his first full year with us. He joined with about two weeks
004left in last school year. So, not has not only does he have a full year under his belt, but he also has two terms at the last two weeks of school, which is probably the most chaotic. So, uh so I wanted to include it cuz uh I feel like at this point I I'm not sure this team could get any stronger. Uh I don't think it has to be any bigger, but we just have all the bases covered and I wanted to to make sure that they all got recognized and uh mentioned tonight. Starting off with our highlights, the bond promotion. Uh it was a big deal to get that bombing pass this year. Um I personally was at 25 of the 27 events. The only two I didn't go to was the second one
005at the high school because Jonathan could handle that and I didn't go to CMS because I knew Joe Le could handle the technology side of it. But uh when I sat my staff down in August and told uh my team, I said, "Hey, look, this is going to be my priority." And I basically gave Michael the responsibility of handling content for us through the entire fall. And between he and Jabril and Anna, most of the content the fall was all there doing while I focused on the fun. So I was real proud of everybody. I even told Jabrell and Michael as we were walking off the field at graduation that it's it's comforting to know that that you have staff who are going to take care of everything that needs to be taken care of.
006There were we we didn't really talk about at graduation what we were going to do. We kind of all knew we've done it enough now. But every time I thought of, oh, that be a great photo, I would look and there would be Michael or there would be. So, it's nice and comforting to have that. Uh, and a matter of fact, Michael has continued to to pretty much head up the content. He decides when he goes out, uh, you know, what we're doing on what day and things like that. And that's also very nice for me. I get to look at things from 30,000 view as opposed to worrying about the day-to-day stuff. For the first time ever this year at Teespr, we won a category. That means in our class, it was the best
007entry overall. We've won we've won tons of gold. He definitely go to be considered that and Michael's Black History Month video series uh won best in category uh in in video in that video uh portfolio that he uh entered in. I feel like we're going to have another best category next year which you girls voted for like this house. If you have not seen that you're missing out that I text him and said that's your best one yet. He goes I think it's in my top five like no it's it's the best one. Um, but we had a lot of goals uh from Teespr uh our vid again our video portfolio just elevated this year because of Jabril and God bless Michael when he came he was not a videographer but I thought he did
008great work while he's here learning on the fly but Jabrell just takes us to a completely different level. Uh our social media right now we have 14,854 followers. That's up more than a thousand from last year. Our number one viewed item is that all girls CHS top 10 graduates and uh has 110,000 uh views and I haven't looked today. I did this back in the middle of May and that's 42,000 more than Jan breaking the national record had last year. And then on Instagram, uh we have we're up about 600 from last year. That top 10 has 640,000 views. And again, this was as of May 15th. And the number two had 728,000 views. So something about um the all girl thing really and it got people looking at it. I just saw one comment
009that said a lady said I had to go check this school out cuz I thought it was an all girls school but it's not so >> yeah. And by the way that was a great class. That whole class was great. Those top 10 girls were uh great. Some of our summer summer projects uh we're establishing our new communication process emergency communications protocols. Again a lot of that's dependent on what's in Skyward. if a parent's information isn't correct, they're not getting messages through the mass communication portal. But I want to try to make that a little easier on us. Whereas if uh Carol gets shut down and it's just because of police activity, uh we're not having to write something new every time. I'm going to try to develop it with drop down menus where any
010one of the four of us can get that out. Uh we're also transitioning to APOG for our website newsletters and two-way. The website migration has already started started May 22nd and we're going to pull the trigger on that this month. So you you'll see a fresh looking website and the reason we're going to do it sooner than later um is we don't want to be doing double work. We still have two years on the the final side contract, but Apogee prorrated our first two years with them to the point where we're actually saving money if we had been with Aftergy from the getgo this these first two years. So but uh so we don't like to post stories and things like that two times when we would pull that trigger. Uh, if you notice the
011walls bay right here, we're we're starting to to change out photos, not only in this main hall, but in the executive boardroom and the third floor of the press box. That was all sponsored by Lime Barter, by the way. They're paying for every bit of that. We're going to put little plaques up and say they're sponsoring that. Um, Michael will get all the holiday graphics for next year prepared. At some point, we'll look at swag. The the big order we did two years ago is just about out, so we need to to uh replace that. probably won't do a $13,000 order again, but we definitely need some items. Um, for the future, we're going to obviously uh chronicling construction updates is big. We still have access to the 2025 bond website. Now, it's more of
012an update website. People can still go and see what our updates are. Uh, they'll also be on our main page. Um, ADA compliance is coming. If you haven't heard about that, by 2028, our website, social media, all that has to be website compliant. So that means anybody that's sitting in here behind me, if you put put a PDF on a Facebook page, it has to be ADA compliant. Last thing we want to do is be sued over that. Um, we talked about doing customer service training this year for campus as we get back into August. Also some social media training. Michael will be heading that up. And uh, we're just going to continue to do what we do, which is give great stories to our community. We want to be the ones to tell our
013stories, uh, the positive stories that are happening in our district and also to be active in our community. We were very active last year. There are a lot of events we we attended and and uh we're going to continue to do that. Um, well, that's it. You guys got any questions? >> All right. Thank you very much. >> Thank you. The next thing is technology update. Awesome. All right. Good evening, board president. Mrs. H, senior man of the board. Thank you for allowing me to present the technology update to you all this evening. I'm going to hop right into updates to the network infrastructure, but if you guys have questions at any point presentation, feel free to stop. Happy to answer any questions you have. So, at the beginning of the school year, we started
014the process of taking our uh all the telephone lines that are running into our building, 32 of them. They those lines are directly connected to fire panels. uh elevator alarms uh or burglary alarms and we have converted those over to a wireless LTE connection. So reason being is AT&T started letting the customers know that um within the next couple years they're no longer going to support those phone lines. This would be the equivalent if you guys still had a landline at home. So this is very old technology. Uh it's pretty costly from a monthly perspective and kind of best practice in organizations and buildings nowadays is just to convert those lines over to what would be a cell phone connection. So that's what we did. We've partnered with a company called RCN Technologies. Uh they
015specialize in taking those hardline connections and converting them to those wireless signals. And so each campus has a dedicated piece of equipment. It has two SIM cards in it, one Verizon, one AT&T. So there's sort of a failover scenario. If an alarm needs to go out and you know that primary can't be reached, it will go over the secondary as well. If for some reason uh the network operations center that monitors those boxes uh sees that both those lines are down that they will blow up our team our network team until we get there and make sure those are connected online securing the whole building. Um ultimately after we made that change it resulted in a pretty large uh cost reduction annually for the tech budget. So um needed to be done and uh it
016was pretty good project. We got that wrapped up. Second infrastructure update is we introduced two new student online safety tools this past school year. Um both from the same company. Uh the company is called Lightseed. They are an educational technology company that's really focused on providing technology solutions to school districts. So everything they do is focused in K12. Uh the first one we introduced is Lightseed Alert. So this is a program that is continuously scanning any and everything when it comes to students activity either on a computer online. uh it has full visibility on any keystroke that takes place. And so the goal of this is to identify any student who may be typing in something that would uh categorize as self harm, harming others, uh bullying, hate speech, things of that such. And so
017um if those things are found, uh then an alert is sent to the administration on campus immediately. There's a dashboard that they can log into, review what was sent to them, and they can make, you know, a judgment call if they need to go have a conversation, whatever. provide support for that student uh whatever it may need to be. So that is a level of visibility control that we have never had across the network. So this past school year has been pretty eye opening and um I do think we were able to reach some students uh and and offer some help in scenarios maybe they wouldn't have reached out and asked some. So it's been pretty beneficial. Uh last one being web filter. It is exactly what it sounds like. It is a web filter
018and it's going to stop students and serve the local blog page. if they search something on Google that they're not supposed to be getting to, uh, they'll just be met with the blog page. We made that change just because Lightseed is really kind of just leading uh, the way in in the ed tech space when it comes to these types of solutions. Last infrastructure update, I wanted to let the board know I'm excited to to say that the uh, teacher and sound device cycle that we were able to replace this last school year, we have received those devices. they are out in teacher and staff's hands to get checked out. Uh it has already made a really big difference at least on our end from support standpoint. Uh tickets are down tremendously for staff members
019and these devices are just working. Um we also were able to put out all the new Thunderbolt docking station. So if you walk into any classroom on the teacher desk, you will find a docking station that connects to all the technology in that class. So the ceiling speakers uh to the interactive lab panel monitor the keyboard mouse uh that's on the teacher desk. It just takes one cable directly into the laptop and that teacher can immediately sit down and get to work. And so especially with the class or the technology class standard that we were able to put in place last school year, you know, you can take an elementary teacher from Buoie, put in that carol, and they will have the same exact setup, be familiar with everything in that room, just, you know,
020just make things a little bit easier and um possible. Uh we also wrapped up our first year of Chromebooks at all campuses and classrooms. So, man, what a night and day difference uh it has been having these rolled out in place. It has been uh it's been great. Student device our tickets for student devices have been down are down tremendously which means they're in class working without issue not causing disruption. Um and we were able to repair 35 of these through the Dell Tech Direct um program that were Dell reverses our technicians. And so we earned $1,750 that reimbursement. 35 for the whole school year is pretty good. We'll take that. That's usually usually in the hot units. May I answer any questions around infrastructure updates? >> I do have a question um about our
021alert system. Do you know about how many alerts that we have this year? >> You know, from uh so what what makes it really great is they have what they call a human review team. And so before those alerts actually get to our staff members, there is a human review team on their side because of how many false alarms that it could cause. So they will weigh through all of those um and determine what is an actual threat or what actually needs to be looked at from a staff member and then we'll send that on appropriately. So to answer your question directly, email me. I do not know the exact number um but I will log into the dashboard and I'll get that to you. >> Okay, awesome. Thank you. >> Okay, moving into cyber
022security and student data privacy. So last summer, I let the board know about a tea funed program called the Texas Cyber Security Initiative. And this is um it's a program that's designed to help school districts kind of bridge the gap with um the funding that they have or I guess funding that they don't have to stand up the cyber security defenses that uh they really need to kind of protect their their uh networking systems. So, uh, last year when that program began, we were able to enter that and we, um, were able to offset a large amount of money by allowing them to install antivirus for all of our staff machines and our server environment. And so this year, I'm happy to report that they have expanded that out to four additional programs. And so
023I have already applied for these four programs and um, I've been accepted into the first two and I do expect to be accepted into the last two as well. Ultimately, once we get all these implemented, we're looking that we can save around 50,000 annually by not having to, you know, put those fun towards cyber security defenses. So, it's a really good program and um I'm expecting to have all those at least implemented by December. Okay, this was a fun one. All right, so this past school year, we did something called a penetration test for the first time. And so, uh what does that mean? What is a penetration test? So this is basically where we hired a group of professionals, a group who are professionals at gaining access, unauthorized access to networks and systems. And
024I think that's just a professional way to say we hired an outside hacking group to come in and tell us what is vulner vulnerable about our network. Where are those holes in our network? And that way we can go ahead and take care of those issues now before an actual cyber security bid uh takes place. And so they come in, they find those holes, uh they give it, they give it to you in a very nice and neat executive report with all the bindings. And so we'll spend this next school year uh patching all those holes, making sure those vulnerabilities don't exist anymore, ultimately just providing, you know, a safer online learning environment. And so, uh there's one thing that I really wanted to highlight that that stuck out to me from this whole exercise.
025uh this group was here on premise with us for a whole week and a part of this exercise they do something called a physical building penetration test and so they went to CHS and then they let the school day and they tried to get in and they wanted to know what was going to happen and they didn't and ultimately this is a K12 group that works with school districts all over the nation and uh they said I was shouted out CHS was considered the most secure building that they have ever worked in so that's a big shout out to Chief Mr. Well, that whole administration over there, um, they're providing a safe, you know, secure building for everybody to be in. So, we'll have this we'll have the same group back in a couple years
026and, uh, after we fixed everything they said and we'll see if we can improve the overall letter grade that we received there. >> Austin, you want to tell them a couple things? >> So, um, you know, the these guys when I say hackers, they are clearly that, you know, they're just, uh, they're pretty professional about it. Um they have devices they have something called a flipper and it's a small device where basically they can stand pretty close to you and steal your badge and then they take not physically steal but steal their credentials off that badge kind of like a credit card reader. And so then they take that flipper at 2 a.m. and they can scan it on the door and it'll let them in. And so um not only that, you know, they
027were walking around the building. They took one of our technology jackets and was posing as an IT person. Uh, big shout out to Tanya upstairs. Just shut that down real quick. She was like, I don't know who you are and I know you're not supposed to be doing this. Get out of here. Uh, so, you know, they tried they had a bunch of very um unorthodox methods that typically you wouldn't run across and that is the whole point of this because you know most times when something happened it it is something wild like that. So, uh, it put everybody on my toes. I hope I didn't run away others. Uh but I do think that we are uh we're all um better as an organization from just our posture for sure. So it's a fun
028exercise to do. If anybody is curious to see that executive report, I'm happy to send it to you with all the details. All right, last cyber update. I want to talk about House Bill 18. The board of the scope act stands for securing children online through parental empowerment. Uh the goal of house 18 is making sure whenever we partner with an application and we send our student information to that application in order for us to you know sign it and use it. We want to make sure that company doesn't do anything or has some sort of uh not ill intent but uh not using that data for financial gain um and just using it for things that we did for them to use it. And so um listed on the left there I know it's
029kind of small for you guys. Uh those are three requirements that school districts are not going to have to meet when sharing student information with applications. So number one, accessible and transparent disclosures of all student data collection practices are mandatory. So um how are we what does that mean and how are we going to do that? So um this means we have to let our parents and guardians know who we're sharing their student information with and if that application is compliant, we have to make sure that is done in a very easy and transparent fashion. And so uh the screen snip that I added here is can be found at cd.org. If you go to the technology web page, it is just a a public facing approved application. So parents, guardians, click that link, show
030them all the applications that CSD is sharing their student information with. Uh they can drill down into it. You can see it's pretty small.com is what's outlined there. But they have earned a one net certification. So they're GDRV and COPA compliant and just kind of meet those baseline thresholds that they're uh you know not selling student information to other companies and uh and they're just housing as expected. Number two, districts must minimize student data collection and prevent unauthorized data sharing. And then number three, strict prohibitions against targeted advertising for financial transactions involving student data. I do think we're ahead of the game on this because the last two the last two school years we have been uh making a really hard push to make sure that we have student data privacy agreements in place. It's
031basically a contract between us and those vendors that states uh it's got legal language that says that you cannot sell this data uh you cannot advertise this data to anybody and you have to keep it as responsible answer any questions all right let's talk about AI so I thought it would be important to add a slide talk about the safeguards the ISD has in place uh from a policy standpoint just regarding AI or AI um and also now the annual training that's required for all not only teachers in Texas but any government employee and so uh new Texas government code says that all government employees Texas or Texas ISTD teacher staff members have to complete an annual artificial intelligence training and basically we've implemented this week we gave this training out in April and this
032is a training that is basically over just headful use it's it's teaching you coaching you know, not to put, you know, your own PII or student personally identifiable information into an AI model. Um, not saying I was saying not to, uh, let an AI model be the ultimate decision maker whenever, you know, troubleshooting a problem or working through something with it. Ul, we're still the humans. Use the AI as a tool, but it is not really anything more than that. You know, we are still in charge of making the final say. And so, uh, we be that training out. We'll do it again in the upcoming school year. And so um back in January it was a part of the task 1.6 update and this included AI use for both teachers and for students. And
033so I am going to read this out loud. I think it's important. Uh we're going to take this language and add it to our technologies use policy for the upcoming school year. Uh just so expectations clear and everything is set. And so for teacher uh the AI board policy states for teacher and staff use the use of AI shall only be uh as a support tool to enhance student outcomes and shall never take the place of teacher and student decision-m and the use of AI must comply with law, policy and administrative regulations related to student and employee privacy and data security. So for student use a student shall only use AI tools with teacher permissions and shall be expected to produce original work and properly credit sources including AI tools used to create that work.
034Students who use AI tools to deceptively harm, bully, or harass others shall be disciplined in accordance with student conduct and policy. So again, we'll add that to our acceptable use policy and making sure that we at least have everything set on our side to, you know, handling any situations that come up with this. And so that's that's definitely a hot topic right now and I'm happy to answer any questions you guys might have around any of that. All right, moving into classroom technology. Um, so if you guys look at the older short projectors here, uh, that is what every classroom at CJS had. I think those are closer to probably 15 years old. Um, definitely end of life and support. It is really hard for us to find bulbs for those and when we do
035it's in the hundreds of dollars. um they're just they were it's time to replace them. So that's what we did. Uh all the classrooms received new 75-in interactive touch panels. Uh the larger sitting areas like library, calico, band hall, choir. We went with 85 85 in touch panels there. And uh all panels are mounted on a rolling cart with a 20ft power cable. So that was a a really a really big hit with all the teachers. They enjoy keeping their whiteboard, still being able to to write on it uh while they can, you know, move this thing around the room and make it appropriate. It's a DFW based company, New Line Interactive, uh because they're DFW based with 5-year warranties. If a teacher uh if a teacher's panel fails on Monday, chances are people will
036get that replacement by the end of the day and the next day. And so, um they're a great company, also edtech focused, and know that um budgets are tight and um you know, time matters in those situations. Last classroom technology update is a new state requirement went to effect at the beginning of the school year is Alyssa's law or Senate Bill 838. It basically states that all school districts must uh implement some sort of silent panic technology for all classrooms. Um we were able to do this by adding a panic button to the classroom phone in every classroom. So if you look in if you walk into a classroom, you look on the teacher desk, there'll be a black phone and at the top right of that phone is a very small red panic button.
037Um, so the graphic that I included here is actually what is sent to teachers at the beginning of their year will be sent earlier on top of a bunch of other training that they get around this. Uh, but they can press that button three times and campus admin and campus police will receive a text message and email that states um where their class is and that that panic button has been triggered. And so it's been great. Um, I've seen it in action a couple times this school year and it absolutely seems to reduce the response time whenever uh those things were needed. Um, there's one other thing that wasn't a requirement but I I wanted to add cuz I thought it was really neat. Uh, we implemented a software called Red Sky. And so if
038any classroom technology dials 911 city dispatch will not only get the campus um um the campus name but they'll get the hallway and then also the classroom number as well. And so I believe all of our uh city police officers even have campus maps, uh very detailed campus maps. And so when they're on the way responding to that call at the same time in their squad card, you know, they're probably looking at a map and able to know exactly where they need to go in an attempt to kind of reduce that response time before. Okay, last slide. I want to talk about summer plans, uh maintenance and cleaning. Of course, we're going to wipe all Chromebooks, take them back to factory, make sure they're ready to go for the new school year, uh scrape all
039stickers, um clean the cards, uh put all the uh chargers back where they need to be. Um as we go through this, I would imagine that we're probably going to find some more broken machines, and so we will repair those as well through TechDirect in an attempt to gain or earn some additional reimbursements. Uh for all of our computer labs, we're also going to install new solidstate hard drives, and we're going to add a stick RAM to all of those desktops as well. That's going to be uh a really big upgrade as far as just performance good from those computers. Going to buy them multiple multiple years of continued life. And then really one that I'm really excited for is we're going to do a boardroom audio visual update. And so uh in the coming
040weeks, check this morning. They're waiting on Walmart to show up, but these short throw projectors and the whiteboards here. We're going to take these down and it will be 115in single viewing panel. And then here on this wall, we'll do a 100inch viewing panel. And I think most best of all, you guys, instead of having to peer over and look down here, you will have a view monitor uh on your left and on your right. So you can look left, right. Uh it's a very low profile monitor and you'll just have the presentation right there in front of you. So it'll be really, really neat. Last thing is uh we're going to do some staff professional development around uh Google Gemini and Google Notebook LM uh this summer that we're doing two sessions July June
04116th, July 14th. Both of those sessions can hold up to 60 people and they filled up almost immediately. So super excited to to see that. Um and then we will hold one more training on July 22nd which is just a Google for beginners training. So staff, teachers, anybody can show up and ask them anything about Google and we'll be happy to um you know make sure they're feeling prepared for the school year. So that that's my presentation. I just want to say thank you guys. Thank you. you guys have support in so many uh initiatives that we've had to make sure that our teachers and staff have what they need uh not just in the classroom but on the very back end from a cyber security standpoint too. So it matters definitely across the whole
042board. I just want to say thank you to all you guys for all the support. Happy to answer any questions you have. >> Thank you. Appreciate it. >> The next thing is the SAC report. >> Hello. Good evening. Um, I am Erica and I am the health coordinator of CSD and I'm here to give the report for Shaq. I appreciate you guys allowing me to be here tonight. It's my first time. Here we go. without you. He comes to all my chef meetings and I'm blessed every time he shows up. He mainly comes for the food though. I love doing >> which is good, right? >> That's great. >> Okay, so our shack meeting for this year um our shack report. Um Shaq, you may wonder is school health advisory of council. It is required
043by the state of Texas. Uh the purpose of SHAK is to recommend health curriculum instruction and review policy as needed. um advise on nutrition and physical activity and promotes mental health and wellness. Um ensures that local community values are reflected and the health education. So I was just going to go over each of our meetings that we did uh have this school year. Um we are required by the state to have four meetings. Um we did meet October 22nd, December 17th, uh February 25th, and May 14th. Our October highlights are um from Senate Bill 12, which was a new legislated release this year. Um, districts must notify families and health related services annually, which we did. Uh, parents have the right to opt out of health services and counseling services. We had opt out forms
044made and were available for parents and guardians if they chose so uh to not have our services. Um, we also uh let our SHAK members know about House Bill 1481, which was the personal device policy um that we implemented in CISD um saying students were no longer allowed to have personal devices. Um child nutrition gave us updates in that October meeting um of new bills that were released for them and any changes that they made and implemented. And we also um talked about Red Ribbon Week, which was that week as well, and things that we were doing around the district at that time. In December, we had um a guest speaker, Dr. Margie Boler. She's executive director of special programs. She came to spoke to us about capturing kids hearts. Um it's a program that
045we adapted this school year. Um it's a relationship focused program that supports positive school culture by strengthening connections between students and staff. um increasing student engagement and promoting a safe, supportive learning environment. Uh she gave us great information regarding this program. We actually had students present because they're allowed to come to our meetings and they had great feedback with the program as well. Um she was excited that new data would be coming out and we're excited to hear more about that hopefully in the upcoming school year for Shaq. Um data that Margie has collected for us. February um we talked about Senate Bill 865 is the land and pain act. Um it focuses on cardiac emergency preparedness in the state of state Texas schools. Uh this law strengthens requirements related to cardiac response protocols including
046AED availability emergency response planning staff awareness uh to better respond to cardiac arrests and incidences on the campuses. The law was created after 14-year-old Landon Payton collapsed during PE in Houston, Texas. As for CISD, we're choosing to implement the uh and use Project ADOM, which is a nationally recognized program that helps schools develop comprehensive cardiac emergency response plans. Project ADOM supports campuses in creating sitebased teams, which we have been creating those. Um me and GC have been working along with the campuses to get those teams together. uh conduct cardiac drills which we will start this summer prior to the school year starting. Um as well as readiness and working on becoming a hard safe school um designate the district is taking steps to align with practices with the Cville A65 departments to enhance student safety
047by using project Adam which we're excited. Um once we get all of the care plans um drills um information turned into project item we will be noted as a heart safe school and that's exciting news. Also in February we had a guest speaker um Amber Payne. Um she came and spoke with us about mental health. Um the hope squad is a group that she put together at CMS and started last year. We've also extended to CIS uh Collins this year and it was great success there as well. uh youthaw aware of mental health. Yam is another program that she initiated. Uh these programs focus on promoting student mental health and awareness, peer support and early intervention. Um she also spoke to us about Texas&M Texas child health access through tele medicine. It's a program that
048provides students access to virtual medicine uh virtual mental health services in partnership with medical professionals in which we have used this within our district at the middle school and she said it was very successful. She also spoke to us about a community task force. Uh there's a group that is working to develop strategic plan to effectively utilize available funding to best support our students and the broader community. Meetings are still ongoing with this as we speak. Um I'm excited for Miss Payne to come back and also tell us some updates of where that funding is going through our community that not only helps the community but our school district as well. So that's exciting. May um as per law there's required a trial assessment um every three years um we are to conduct one and
049we were due for a trial assessment this school year um we made updates um we reviewed the district wellness plan by measuring our progress um and goals and we made changes and we also gave the wellness plan a fresh look um updated it made it look a little prettier for the website and we will reassess our uh triangle assessment will be 2029 Um, shack meetings are open to anyone. Anyone's welcome to come. You can follow our website on CISD for upcoming dates and times and agendas. Um, we also, if you miss it, but you want to know what happened and what we talked about, um, shack minutes are available along with the recordings as well. Thank you. Do you have any questions? >> Thank you. I appreciate it. >> Thank you. The next thing is
050all right. There we go. Um, Miss Al, we are across the county and if you look closely, I know someone would recognize someone that's jumping. We appreciate them. But um no, I had an opportunity um this past week to go to the athletic director's conference and I missed the first two days of of of our speed and strength program. When I got back, you know, I told the athletes, you know, I appreciate them for working for the coaches that's there and and I let them know that I am more than just a football coach. I take this athletic director uh position very seriously. Um I went to the clinic to to learn my craft and be around other athletic directors and and figure out how how things work in athletic program. And I let I
051let our kids know that, you know, I'm more than just a football coach and and I appreciate them and the coaches um taking care of business when I wasn't there. So, moving on. I'm excited to present to you guys the overall athletic program. We had um opportunities for participation in 19 different activities and we qualified for postseason in nine of those 19 activities. Uh boys cross country. We had individual regional qualifiers, girls and boys powerlifting. We had a regional qualifier, a state qualifiers, a state champion, and our boys was second in state runner up. Our golf program, we have regional qualifiers, and baseball team was regional semi-finalist this year. Boys and girls track, area, regional, and state qualifiers. Um, and then our tennis team, um, and spring, we're district 10's 41st year in a row.
052Um and we uh also competed in regional semi-finals. Um as far as the total numbers for for participation, we are working to decrease those numbers. Um so 7th grade we had 121 male and 85 female and eighth grade 167 and 93 um females. And you can see the breakdown of different sports where those uh athletes participated in football 63 cross country 11 and basketball team track 25 that's the seventh grade boys and you can see for the seventh grade girls as well as the eighth grade boys and eighth grade girls. For the high school ninth graders, we had a total of 119 male and uh we had more female participants. is ninth grade 159. Um 15 volleyball, we had 12 basketball, nine track, 10 tennis, 15 soccer, we had 10 softball, and we had three
053in golf. And then it has the breakdown for 10 11 as well as the seniors. You guys can see that um our cross country program um we did win the industry meet and um the coach came to me about having a cross country meet here and so we had that uh first time in a long time that we be able to win our own meets. As far as football, our record was 5 and five. JB was 2 and8. And then our freshman was uh the five and five as well. We had um the utility player of the year and Mark Brown. And what that means, the utility player, he's he's also voted first team on offense and first team on defense because he went he went both ways. So he's actually a first team all
054district offensive player and a defensive player. We had uh the two athletes in first team and then um we had four in second team offense and and four on defense and we had 11 on mention athletes football. Our volleyball program uh was 12:15 to 8:14 and then freshman was uh 10 and 12. This year we had all district in Erica and we had two uh second team all districts and we had four unmanagement selections in our volleyball program. And basketball was 622, 613, and then 129 with with with our freshman. And we had um Jacob, the second team, and then two honorable mention selections, Lady Tigers 11 and 21, 72, then 11 and 15. We had two second team all district uh basketball players. Our soccer program 12 9 and one at JB was 972.
055We had the the golden boot most goals with Chris and then um we had uh our first team all district players as well as second team and four own mentioned selections. Lady soccer 217 and one JB 114 and4 the goalie of the year two first team selection and two second team selections in in all district. our powerlifting team. Again, we had a state champion. Um, last year I was come bearing gifts and this year, um, I'm going to blame it on Coach Wig. I I did ask them to order, um, you guys gold medals. So, I'm still waiting on that. So, you guys will um should at some point have a gold power lifted medal. Okay. We are of course counted. We want you guys to um have that as well. So we we actually
056took second in state. Uh Christian and Eli was second and third. At one point we were first and uh we ended up taking second, but we had seven boys qualified for state. Uh four girls qualified for state. And we were the regional champions in in boys. We had 11 of those and three were regional champions and the girls had seven. It's probably our most successful program at the high school. Tiger golf all district and Jake and and Riley make all district selections to be golf. Baseball again we was the regional semi-finalist had a 29-7 record JB was we had the most valuable player in Ethan and we had a defensive player at Connor and we you can see the first district first team all district selections as well as second team all district selections ladies
057uh Tiger softball 13 17 and one and JV six and in and 13 and you can see our first team all district as well as second team and we had three honorable mention on all district uh track and go state qualifier in corporate branch and long jump and he is a junior so we're expecting great things next year his senior year he actually out jumped me I don't think I only went 23 239 something like that 23 >> 238 >> but congratulations to him um we look for great links coming in and he's also originally an area one are in a long jump as well as DeAndre in the 200. And then our late um track, Mia, she qualified in the 400 and the triple jump as well as our 4x4 relay. And then also
058regional qualifiers as well, the 4x1 and the 4x4. I um y'all know we lost our our track coach and I I'm just so excited not to be lost by track coach, but um I interview someone that won state three years in high school, has a national championship at LSU, and she wants to um come and be our track coach. So, I'm I'm excited, and y'all just listen for that information down the road. Um we're excited moving forward. Tennis team again made the playoffs for 42nd year in a row. Um overall 23 and seven and we had another 11 ranking in the state. And there are the accolades uh for our tennis program. um spring spring tennis. All right. So, what I'm excited about, we had a 98.5 passing rate for all sports. So what we
059do um we have the coaches report the passing rates to us and and we tally up 98.5 of our athletes have have passed. So our athletes it the student athlete it actually means something to us academics and scholarships. Okay. So during the uh 24 and 25 school year, we had five athletes receive scholarships. Now during the 25 26, we had a total of 25 athletes receive scholarships and we streamlined it and poor Miss Alice, she was up there every week and and we we made sure that we talked to the coaches. we're we're going to have three and we're going to include everybody and not just have solo assignments and things like that. So, we did streamline that process and it went much better. But you can see um the athletes that signed and and
060went off to participate uh in the sport that they got athletic scholarships. Our I put this on there. Our goals is to increase participation and retention of athletes. Um we want to do a better job of and and you guys know this is they're in athletics but they're not causing problems in the school because we will hold them accountable. They're not causing problems on the street because we will hold them accountable and they have something attached. So we we want to get them out there and to participate in something. Okay. So, we can do that by having recruiting seminars for parents and students and so on and so forth. More professional development for our coaches and group sport um attending games and and doing community ser service um projects and um he's it's like I
061tell the coaches, you know, we're going to go watch the basketball games as a staff. going to go to baseball games and they need to see us out there supporting all the all the other sports because they do support us in football as well. Uh facilities maintain the middle school practice fields and tennis courts. There's some sluting and bubbling tennis courts there. Uh we got to replace uh some of the areas on the track. You may need to paint and things like that. And mainly the inside is kind of eroded a little bit. Continued main high school grass fields and clarome upgrade weight football and baseball field housing find facilities for potential golf. So at the end of the year, we will meet with all the coaches and they'll give us as well. So coach
062wants an indoor cuff sprayer. I put it on there. Now it's out there for you guys. >> Okay. So y'all heard it before. Okay. Again, go Tigers. I appreciate you guys. I really do. >> Thank you. >> Have any questions? Thank you, coach. The next lady's dress code for 2026. >> Thank you. I get to speak the boring person after all that fun stuff. Um, so in April, Shay came and spoke with everyone about dress code tonight. He is at the city council meeting here presenting. Of course, can I ask you for one of our bond projects? But um I'm going to ask for you guys to consider and discuss possible uh changes in the 26 27th school year for the student dress code. Um we've discussed several different options or really moving away from
063that standardized dress in April. Um some of the recommended changes that I would like you'all consider is number one allow jeans of any color. Um holes or rips would have to be below those knees. Um, also allowing athletic wear, of course, it cannot be put two inches above the knee if they're pretty short. That would be against the dress code. Uh, sweatpants and or joggers. That is a a big deal at the high school middle school level. Um, the kids that's what they wear to be honest. So, uh, those are the two changes, but you are able to discuss any other changes that you would like to make um, for us to possibly for you guys to take action on that. So is it just jeans of any color or u matching shirts or anything
064you know that would change >> instead of just the the standard logo. >> So we could you guys need to discuss uh top. So if you wanted graphic TE's, if you wanted wanted to add college, let's say college other districts of Law, you know, I if I'm going to Texas and I can wear that. Um, basically it would just be something appropriate that covers all the the parts of the body that if we were to add the allow leg shorts, sweatpants, and joggers, they would have to fall into the same um approved color category that our current pants are. Correct. >> Yes. Unless you guys decide that you want that that you're okay with other colors. Right now it's white maybe white blue dark. So which would then open up all colors for shorts as
065if we approve that. >> I think what we need to you guys discuss and decide is do you want to stay with that standardized colors or are you okay going to other colors? I'll be okay covers the appropriate cover shirts. Shorts make it easy. still needs to be appropriate. I mean I understand wants to go to understand I believe that even with the graphic checks of something design as long as it is appropriate and not um something that's too vulgar and too not not vulgar at all or crazy uh or hidden messages and all those type of things but just a nice shirt, graphic shirt that a lot of these kids like to wear with their jeans and stuff. I'm okay with that, too. As well as the as well as what S said, you
066know, all the colors of pants just be free. For me, I think those would be things that we could look at when we have our parent meetings. Um because for me the rapt would be a big change at at this point if it's not say a college or a school spiritual. My biggest worry right now is um having loose conversation about it because we have a standardized dress code now and we're going to implement other rules that are going to create another set of standardized dress code. Um so we're trading one for another. Um and so my worry is um what that list looks like and if we're just inviting just right here we're creating another list that I think we need to have a full discussion with parents and all that getting a weird
067base. Does that make sense? I well my thing is is that even when we get the the survey u going back to that with the constituents what they're saying um is that that doesn't and I think the biggest part is is you know improve as well and so uh I I kind of understand what you're saying too but uh but I think I think that it's it's a it's a lighter standard or instead of saying you got to wear this color, this outfit, this that and everything. It's >> it's more it's more of an open range to just kind of relax and be free. And and in my thoughts, I believe that even when you do that, you're still going to have people that's going to say, "I thought the uniforms was cheaper, so I'm
068still going to throw my kids in stuff like that." So it just it'll just be more options to be able to know that I can be free in this moment or not without having to be extremely >> at our last week we had asked to have parent meetings and student meetings to get more input from from them which we haven't had yet. So to me, I think we need to have those things before we open up, you know, graphic TE's and things like that. Um, and have more discussion besides just the the survey, which we know could have been manipulated in different ways. So yeah, that's what I would like to see before we like Kevin said have more in depth discussion as to bigger changes. If we make those bigger changes, I think jeans
069with the no holes above I think that's that would be good. the athletic wear, the short sweat and garners are good. But um to go any further at this time, I think we need we need to have more thought. >> But when you look at it um I'm all for it. That's that's just me. But when you look at the I think I had this discussion with with so many different people. When you look at the elementary school, they they get a free dress day, you know, just about every Friday. Um, and so you kind of open that up to, and I understand you get it from elementary to high school, but and then we also ask the parents, we also ask for them their their personal opinion. Um, I open this up and I
070think that if we disqualify their opinion, uh, after this bond, then we really set the bad president on what could happen next. Uh, because at the end of the day, it's not just us. Uh, it's about our community. Uh, it's about hearing what they have to say. Um, and so that's just that's my personal opinion. I I believe that we need to open this up. Uh, give our our our our kids an opportunity. Uh, because when they go to college, guess what? They get to wear whatever they want to wear. Um, and I understand that we're not in college yet, but you know, they're getting ready to go. And so that's our job is to prepare them if they're going to college, you know. So, uh, and if they're not going to college, they still
071have a dress code. And I think as Kamar said, some parents are going to be like, "Hey, well, I just think, you know, buying these colors are just cheaper, so they're going to do what they want to do anyways." Um, but I'm I'm all for opening this dress code up and I'm all for um seeing how it goes. I mean, that's our motto. Dare to be different, right? So, why don't we try? We can't just knock everything that come across the table on personal opinion. So, I think we ought to open it up and do. I just want to share um we've had this dress code implemented for how many years now? We we did make adjustments during yet. So it is not the traditional uniform that was originally put in place. Actually it's not
072a uniform um anymore because we did away with a lot of things that really made it you know a uniform. um during compet we really did relax it a lot um just a few years ago. So but I just see adjusted I know it's been adjusted um I just feel like I don't know of any schools that follow a standardized dress code anymore. They have more freedom to choose what they want to wear. And to me, it just seems like that's something of the past. And uh appears that many parents that not only participated, parents and students that participated in the survey, but parents and community members and teachers just overall in the community posting on Facebook or in our conversations seem to agree. And I remember last year um student council did a presentation
073that they wanted free dress code. They want more room to be able to express themselves. Um so I'm all for it and I'm okay to vote for it today. And I believe just to bring out another point that I believe um Mr. Bowware brought out that even at the high school when you allow for them to have free dress uh free dress we got more kids to come to school. Um and when we really look at the the the side of it ain't that our main goal is to get the kids to school. Um so let us remember uh what what the goal is um and go from there. >> This is actually we'll just need to make sure whatever Whatever motion we made, we're clear on that motion whether it is >> well what
074is proposed to us in this >> well what is being proposed at this time >> right so when you so the recommended changes are to allow jeans and athletic wear however the way they're motion read you can actually because like we said you can discuss and um consider and discuss for possible action you can actually you can modify what my recommendation And we can we allow refugees to begin with. We can also change that the next board meeting like let's say we see it happening and it's not appropriate. We can say okay no graphics. We can change that next board meeting. If they have abuse that privilege that's with anything dress code standardized dress before we do things we allow they use the >> so I will say just thinking about parents that are really
075looking to start buying several parents are already likely to know what is going to be final so we need to put something out there now rather than And again, certain modifications, yes. But we really need to um be considerate of families that need to purchase whether it's going to be uniform or regular dress. I'm going to add also um so the recommended changes. I love the fact of being jeans and athletic wear. I know that's what our kids are doing. Um again my concern is now you're saying graphic TE's there's not a problem with graphic TE's but then you said appropriated graphic TE or and that's my worry is where are we going to start list our >> how do we come up with that right now like if we're about to start buying for
076dress code and make a um a motion on this how do we define appropriate >> well the reason why I say appropriate because we all know what appropriate inappropriate Here it is. And so a few weeks ago, we was at the talent show. And right before the talent show started, there was a young man, which was an adult, that walked in with a hat on. And he had a hat that had a marijuana leaf on it. And so we detected it from the from the floor and just said, "Hey, look, that that young man is wearing that." Now, back to the point of uh what S was saying about if they were something graphic, then we just take it away. Well, in that case, we didn't say, well, everybody on this side of the of
077the bleachers got because of one person that that did it. What we did was we detected it went just whispered in that young man's ear said, "Hey, look, that's not appropriate for school campus." And he immediately grabbed me and just said, "I'm sorry." I've kind of like I forgot I even had known. And so when I say appropriate inappropriate, I just I'm just saying if it's something that we can that's very visible that you know that simple something as simple as that that was that was very noticeable, a yellow hat with a big old green sleeve on it. You're like that's not right. So then you pull that person to the side. I just think that if you see a child that walks in with something like that or I think we're going to have
078to define that language don't have >> Yeah, you can say language and and you know I think it's pretty >> what you and I both think. >> No, absolutely. No, that's why I said I >> different some of our parents and students think I think it needs to have more >> structure and definition around it before we change or or open it up tax. I mean that's that's why I'm here because it's hard to reel it back in after you open the the gates. You know, we we could also say that um to our current school shirts that are approved, any color of currently approved school shirts plus college or university that opens it up as well. And then that we can leave out the gravity fees at this time. So we want to come
079back and do you know make a if we want to allow gravity, we can make some definitions on that. But I think that our parents need to they need to know this. So, but I would think you know if we're going to allow any color jeans, we can any color school spirit shirt. >> We do allow any color school spirit shirt. I mean they they do as long as shirts. Yeah, >> but not like it. >> If I had a red shirt on shirt. >> So, if we made the approval for tonight, um, how soon would a dress code be available to your parents so they know what to finally? >> Tomorrow. Our our goal is tomorrow. Uh, Brian and I talked about it earlier. We'll try we're going to try to get it done
080as fast as we can. ask all I to dress up here with any color jeans allow any color permit all dressing above the knee only I wear shorts to underneath color and allow university. I want to I just want to say this. Why Why don't we And this is just my personal opinion. Why Why don't we just open up and just see what happens? Cuz we we'll save no wrapping t-shirts. What happens if we open it up and we don't have any issues? Of course, we all know that we may have one or two. That's just that's just what's going to happen, right? Um but I mean, we we at least want to ought to try and see versus just cutting it off. >> Well, we have proposed we're going to have stakeholder meetings in
081the fall, which was presented on this. Um and I think that's something we need to do. We need to listen to students and parents and get uh administrator feedback, see how the fall, if we make these adjustments, how that goes, and then we can go from there. Well, we've got feedback from um from all the the things that we put out on on horseing and and we we've got feedback from why why do we have to keep pushing this off and um not not listening to them as what they decide what they want to do? Because at the end of the day, yes, we all voted, but they voted too. Um they they voted for they voted for this, they voted for that. You know, you get to the place to where it's just like,
082oh, well, I feel like I don't want to listen to him on this, but I can listen to him on that. >> Well, we have a motion in a second. So, we need to vote. >> We have a motion second code 2026 2027 school year. All in favor say I. I >> changed everything. I'm sorry. >> I'm sorry. with also including college. >> Yeah, I have that too. >> College military. So, we'll put out that students can wear jeans of any color. Of course, the holes below their knees for distressing, athletic wear, including sweatpants, joggers, shorts, 2 in above the knee. Um, and then we'll add shirts of any color, whether it's collared or t-shirts, university shirts. Okay, the motion pass approve the finish stated school year. The next thing is we have a motion
083and a second. All in say I say no. Now to close session. Thank you everyone.
